13:1 When Joshua was old and well advanced in years, the LORD said to him, "You are very old, and there are still very large areas of land to be taken over.

13:2 ÀÌ ³²Àº ¶¥Àº ÀÌ·¯ÇÏ´Ï ºí·¹¼Â »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¿Â Áö¹æ°ú ±×¼ú »ç¶÷ÀÇ Àü°æ

13:2 "This is the land that remains: all the regions of the Philistines and Geshurites:

13:3 °ð ¾Ö±Á ¾Õ ½ÃȦ ½Ã³»¿¡¼­ºÎÅÍ °¡³ª¾È »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô ¼ÓÇÑ ºÏ¹æ ¿¡±×·Ð Áö°æ±îÁö¿Í ºí·¹¼Â »ç¶÷ÀÇ ´Ù¼¸ ¹æ¹éÀÇ ¶¥ °ð °¡»ç »ç¶÷°ú ¾Æ½ºµ¾ »ç¶÷°ú ¾Æ½º±Û·Ð »ç¶÷°ú °¡µå »ç¶÷°ú ¿¡±×·Ð »ç¶÷°ú ¶Ç ³²¹æ ¾ÆÀ§ »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¶¥°ú

13:3 from the Shihor River on the east of Egypt to the territory of Ekron on the north, all of it counted as Canaanite (the territory of the five Philistine rulers in Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron--that of the Avvites);

13:4 ¶Ç °¡³ª¾È »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¿Â ¶¥°ú ½Ãµ· »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô ¼ÓÇÑ ¹Ç¾Æ¶ó¿Í ¾Æ¸ð¸® »ç¶÷ÀÇ Áö°æ ¾Æº¤±îÁö¿Í

13:4 from the south, all the land of the Canaanites, from Arah of the Sidonians as far as Aphek, the region of the Amorites,

13:5 ¶Ç ±×¹ß »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¶¥°ú µ¿Æí ¿Â ·¹¹Ù³í °ð Ç츣¸ó »ê ¾Æ·¡ ¹Ù¾Ë°«¿¡¼­ºÎÅÍ ÇϸÀ¿¡ µé¾î°¡´Â °÷±îÁö¿Í

13:5 the area of the Gebalites; and all Lebanon to the east, from Baal Gad below Mount Hermon to Lebo Hamath.

13:6 ¶Ç ·¹¹Ù³í¿¡¼­ºÎÅÍ ¹Ì½º¸£º¿¸¶ÀÓ±îÁöÀÇ »êÁö ¸ðµç °Å¹Î °ð ¸ðµç ½Ãµ· »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¶¥ÀÌ¶ó ³»°¡ ±×µéÀ» À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼Õ ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ÂѾƳ»¸®´Ï ³Ê´Â ³ªÀÇ ¸íÇÑ ´ë·Î ±× ¶¥À» À̽º¶ó¿¤¿¡°Ô ºÐ¹èÇÏ¿© ±â¾÷ÀÌ µÇ°Ô ÇϵÇ

13:6 "As for all the inhabitants of the mountain regions from Lebanon to Misrephoth Maim, that is, all the Sidonians, I myself will drive them out before the Israelites. Be sure to allocate this land to Israel for an inheritance, as I have instructed you,

13:7 ³Ê´Â ÀÌ ¶¥À» ¾ÆÈ© ÁöÆÄ¿Í ¹Ç³´¼¼ ¹Ý ÁöÆÄ¿¡°Ô ³ª´©¾î ±â¾÷ÀÌ µÇ°Ô Ç϶ó Çϼ̴õ¶ó

13:7 and divide it as an inheritance among the nine tribes and half of the tribe of Manasseh."

13:8 ¡Û ¹Ç³´¼¼ ¹Ý ÁöÆÄ¿Í ÇÔ²² ¸£¿ìº¥ »ç¶÷°ú °« »ç¶÷Àº ¿ä´Ü µ¿Æí¿¡¼­ ±× ±â¾÷À» ¸ð¼¼¿¡°Ô ¹Þ¾Ò´Âµ¥ ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ Á¾ ¸ð¼¼°¡ ±×µé¿¡°Ô ÁØ °ÍÀº ÀÌ·¯ÇÏ´Ï

13:8 The other half of Manasseh, the Reubenites and the Gadites had received the inheritance that Moses had given them east of the Jordan, as he, the servant of the LORD, had assigned it to them.

13:9 °ð ¾Æ¸£³í °ñÂ¥±â °¡¿¡ ÀÖ´Â ¾Æ·Î¿¤¿¡¼­ºÎÅÍ °ñÂ¥±â °¡¿îµ¥ ÀÖ´Â ¼ºÀ¾°ú µðº»±îÁö À̸£´Â ¸Þµå¹Ù ¿Â ÆòÁö¿Í

13:9 It extended from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge, and from the town in the middle of the gorge, and included the whole plateau of Medeba as far as Dibon,

13:10 Ç콺º»¿¡ µµÀ¾ÇÏ¿´´ø ¾Æ¸ð¸® »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¿Õ ½ÃÈ¥ÀÇ ¸ðµç ¼ºÀ¾ °ð ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ Áö°æ±îÁö¿Í

13:10 and all the towns of Sihon king of the Amorites, who ruled in Heshbon, out to the border of the Ammonites.

13:11 ±æ¸£¾Ñ°ú ¹× ±×¼ú »ç¶÷°ú ¸¶¾Æ°« »ç¶÷ÀÇ Áö°æ°ú ¿Â Ç츣¸ó »ê°ú »ì¸£°¡±îÁö À̸¥ ¿Â ¹Ù»ê

13:11 It also included Gilead, the territory of the people of Geshur and Maacah, all of Mount Hermon and all Bashan as far as Salecah--

13:12 °ð ¸£¹ÙÀÇ ³²Àº Á·¼ÓÀ¸·Î¼­ ¾Æ½º´Ù·Ô°ú ¿¡µå·¹ÀÌ¿¡ µµÀ¾ÇÏ¿´´ø ¹Ù»ê ¿Õ ¿ÁÀÇ ¿Â ³ª¶ó¶ó ¸ð¼¼°¡ ÀÌ ¶¥ÀÇ »ç¶÷µéÀ» Ãļ­ ÂѾƳ»¾ú¾îµµ

13:12 that is, the whole kingdom of Og in Bashan, who had reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei and had survived as one of the last of the Rephaites. Moses had defeated them and taken over their land.

13:13 But the Israelites did not drive out the people of Geshur and Maacah, so they continue to live among the Israelites to this day.

13:14 But to the tribe of Levi he gave no inheritance, since the offerings made by fire to the LORD, the God of Israel, are their inheritance, as he promised them.

13:15 This is what Moses had given to the tribe of Reuben, clan by clan:

13:16 The territory from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge, and from the town in the middle of the gorge, and the whole plateau past Medeba

13:17 Ç콺º»°ú ±× ÆòÁö¿¡ ÀÖ´Â ¸ðµç ¼ºÀ¾ °ð µðº»°ú ¹Ù¸ø ¹Ù¾Ë°ú º¦ ¹Ù¾Ë ¹Ç¿Â°ú

13:17 to Heshbon and all its towns on the plateau, including Dibon, Bamoth Baal, Beth Baal Meon,

13:18 ¾ßÇϽº¿Í ±×µ¥¸ø°ú ¸Þ¹Ù¾Ñ°ú

13:18 Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,

13:19 ±â·ª´ÙÀÓ°ú ½Ê¸¶¿Í °ñÂ¥±â °¡¿îµ¥ »ê¿¡ ÀÖ´Â ¼¼·¿ »çÇÒ°ú

13:19 Kiriathaim, Sibmah, Zereth Shahar on the hill in the valley,

13:20 ºªºê¿Ã°ú ºñ½º°¡ »ê·Ï°ú º¦¿©½Ã¸ø°ú

13:20 Beth Peor, the slopes of Pisgah, and Beth Jeshimoth

13:21 ÆòÁö ¸ðµç ¼ºÀ¾°ú Ç콺º»¿¡ µµÀ¾ÇÑ ¾Æ¸ð¸® »ç¶÷ ½ÃÈ¥ÀÇ ¿Â ³ª¶ó¶ó ¸ð¼¼°¡ ½ÃÈ¥À» ±× ¶¥¿¡ °ÅÇÏ´Â ½ÃÈ¥ÀÇ ¹æ¹é °ð ¹Ìµð¾ÈÀÇ ±ÍÁ· ¿¡À§¿Í ·¹°×°ú ¼ú°ú ÈÇ°ú ·¹¹Ù¿Í ÇÔ²² Á׿´À¸¸ç

13:21 --all the towns on the plateau and the entire realm of Sihon king of the Amorites, who ruled at Heshbon. Moses had defeated him and the Midianite chiefs, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba--princes allied with Sihon--who lived in that country.

13:22 À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼ÕÀÌ ±×µéÀ» µµ·úÇÏ´Â Áß¿¡ ºê¿ÃÀÇ ¾Æµé ¼ú»ç ¹ß¶÷µµ Ä®³¯·Î Á׿´¾ú´õ¶ó

13:22 In addition to those slain in battle, the Israelites had put to the sword Balaam son of Beor, who practiced divination.

13:23 ¸£¿ìº¥ ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ ¼­Æí °æ°è´Â ¿ä´Ü°ú ±× °­ °¡¶ó ÀÌ»óÀº ¸£¿ìº¥ ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ ±â¾÷À¸·Î ±× °¡Á·´ë·Î ¹ÞÀº ¼ºÀ¾°ú Ã̶ôÀ̴϶ó

13:23 The boundary of the Reubenites was the bank of the Jordan. These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the Reubenites, clan by clan.

13:24 ¡Û ¸ð¼¼°¡ °« ÁöÆÄ °ð °« ÀÚ¼Õ¿¡°Ôµµ ±× °¡Á·À» µû¶ó¼­ ÁÖ¾úÀ¸´Ï

13:24 This is what Moses had given to the tribe of Gad, clan by clan:

13:25 ±× Áö°æÀº ¾ß¼¿°ú ±æ¸£¾Ñ ¸ðµç ¼ºÀ¾°ú ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ ¶¥ Àý¹Ý °ð ¶ø¹Ù ¾ÕÀÇ ¾Æ·Î¿¤±îÁö¿Í

13:25 The territory of Jazer, all the towns of Gilead and half the Ammonite country as far as Aroer, near Rabbah;

13:26 Ç콺º»¿¡¼­ ¶ó¸À ¹Ì½ºº£¿Í ºêµµ´Ô±îÁö¿Í ¸¶ÇϳªÀÓ¿¡¼­ µåºô Áö°æ±îÁö¿Í

13:26 and from Heshbon to Ramath Mizpah and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the territory of Debir;

13:27 °ñÂ¥±â¿¡ ÀÖ´Â º¦ Ç϶÷°ú º¦´Ï¹Ç¶ó¿Í ¼÷°÷°ú »çº» °ð Ç콺º» ¿Õ ½ÃÈ¥ÀÇ ³ª¶óÀÇ ³²Àº ¶¥ ¿ä´Ü°ú ±× °­ °¡¿¡¼­ºÎÅÍ ¿ä´Ü µ¿Æí ±ä³×·¿ ¹Ù´ÙÀÇ ³¡±îÁö¶ó

13:27 and in the valley, Beth Haram, Beth Nimrah, Succoth and Zaphon with the rest of the realm of Sihon king of Heshbon (the east side of the Jordan, the territory up to the end of the Sea of Kinnereth).

13:28 ÀÌ´Â °« ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ ±â¾÷À¸·Î ±× °¡Á·´ë·Î ¹ÞÀº ¼ºÀ¾°ú Ã̶ôÀ̴϶ó

13:28 These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the Gadites, clan by clan.

13:29 ¡Û ¸ð¼¼°¡ ¹Ç³´¼¼ ¹Ý ÁöÆÄ¿¡°Ô ÁÖ¾úÀ¸µÇ ¹Ç³´¼¼ ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ ¹Ý ÁöÆÄ¿¡°Ô ±× °¡Á·´ë·Î ÁÖ¾úÀ¸´Ï

13:29 This is what Moses had given to the half-tribe of Manasseh, that is, to half the family of the descendants of Manasseh, clan by clan:

13:30 ±× Áö°æÀº ¸¶ÇϳªÀÓ¿¡¼­ºÎÅÍ ¿Â ¹Ù»ê °ð ¹Ù»ê ¿Õ ¿ÁÀÇ Àü±¹°ú ¹Ù»ê °æ³» ¾ßÀÏÀÇ ¸ðµç °íÀ» À°½Ê ¼ºÀ¾°ú

13:30 The territory extending from Mahanaim and including all of Bashan, the entire realm of Og king of Bashan--all the settlements of Jair in Bashan, sixty towns,

13:31 ±æ¸£¾Ñ Àý¹Ý°ú ¹Ù»ê ¿Õ ¿ÁÀÇ ³ª¶ó ¼ºÀ¾ ¾Æ½º´Ù·Ô°ú ¿¡µå·¹À̶ó ÀÌ´Â ¹Ç³´¼¼ÀÇ ¾Æµé ¸¶±æÀÇ ÀÚ¼Õ¿¡°Ô µ¹¸° °ÍÀÌ´Ï °ð ¸¶±æ ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ Àý¹ÝÀÌ ±× °¡Á·´ë·Î ¹ÞÀ¸´Ï¶ó

13:31 half of Gilead, and Ashtaroth and Edrei (the royal cities of Og in Bashan). This was for the descendants of Makir son of Manasseh--for half of the sons of Makir, clan by clan.

13:32 ¡Û ¿ä´Ü µ¿Æí ¿©¸®°í ¸ÂÀºÆí ¸ð¾Ð ÆòÁö¿¡¼­ ¸ð¼¼°¡ ºÐ¹èÇÑ ±â¾÷ÀÌ ÀÌ·¯ÇÏ¿©µµ

13:32 This is the inheritance Moses had given when he was in the plains of Moab across the Jordan east of Jericho.

13:33 But to the tribe of Levi, Moses had given no inheritance; the LORD, the God of Israel, is their inheritance, as he promised them.

14:1 À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼ÕÀÌ °¡³ª¾È ¶¥¿¡¼­ ÃëÇÑ ±â¾÷ °ð Á¦»çÀå ¿¤¸£¾Æ»ì°ú ´«ÀÇ ¾Æµé ¿©È£¼ö¾Æ¿Í À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼Õ ÁöÆÄÀÇ Á·ÀåµéÀÌ ºÐ¹èÇÑ °ÍÀÌ ¾Æ·¡¿Í °°À¸´Ï¶ó

14:1 Now these are the areas the Israelites received as an inheritance in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun and the heads of the tribal clans of Israel allotted to them.

14:2 ¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ¸ð¼¼¿¡°Ô ¸íÇϽŠ´ë·Î ±×µéÀÇ ±â¾÷À» Á¦ºñ »Ì¾Æ ¾ÆÈ© ÁöÆÄ¿Í ¹Ý ÁöÆÄ¿¡°Ô ÁÖ¾úÀ¸´Ï

14:2 Their inheritances were assigned by lot to the nine-and-a-half tribes, as the LORD had commanded through Moses.

14:3 µÎ ÁöÆÄ¿Í ¹Ý ÁöÆÄÀÇ ±â¾÷Àº ¸ð¼¼°¡ ¿ä´Ü ÀúÆí¿¡¼­ ÁÖ¾úÀ½ÀÌ¿ä ·¹À§ ÀÚ¼Õ¿¡°Ô´Â ±×µé °¡¿îµ¥¼­ ±â¾÷À» ÁÖÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿´À¸´Ï

14:3 Moses had granted the two-and-a-half tribes their inheritance east of the Jordan but had not granted the Levites an inheritance among the rest,

14:4 ¿ä¼Á ÀÚ¼ÕÀº ¹Ç³´¼¼¿Í ¿¡ºê¶óÀÓÀÇ µÎ ÁöÆÄ°¡ µÇ¾úÀ½À̶ó ÀÌ ¶¥¿¡¼­ ·¹À§ »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô ¾Æ¹« ºÐ±êµµ ÁÖÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ°í ¿ÀÁ÷ °ÅÇÒ ¼ºÀ¾µé°ú °¡Ãà°ú Àç¹°À» µÑ µé¸¸ ÁÙ »ÓÀ¸·Î

14:4 for the sons of Joseph had become two tribes--Manasseh and Ephraim. The Levites received no share of the land but only towns to live in, with pasturelands for their flocks and herds.

14:5 À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼ÕÀÌ ¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ¸ð¼¼¿¡°Ô ¸íÇϽŠ°Í°ú °°ÀÌ ÇàÇÏ¿© ±× ¶¥À» ³ª´©¾ú´õ¶ó

14:5 So the Israelites divided the land, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

14:6 ¡Û ¶§¿¡ À¯´Ù ÀÚ¼ÕÀÌ ±æ°¥¿¡ ÀÖ´Â ¿©È£¼ö¾Æ¿¡°Ô ³ª¾Æ¿À°í ±×´Ï½º »ç¶÷ ¿©ºÐ³×ÀÇ ¾Æµé °¥·¾ÀÌ ¿©È£¼ö¾Æ¿¡°Ô ¸»Ç쵂 ¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ °¡µ¥½º ¹Ù³×¾Æ¿¡¼­ ³ª¿Í ´ç½Å¿¡°Ô ´ëÇÏ¿© Çϳª´ÔÀÇ »ç¶÷ ¸ð¼¼¿¡°Ô À̸£½Å ÀÏÀ» ´ç½ÅÀÌ ¾Æ½Ã´Â ¹Ù¶ó

14:6 Now the men of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, "You know what the LORD said to Moses the man of God at Kadesh Barnea about you and me.

14:7 ³» ³ªÀÌ »ç½Ê ¼¼¿¡ ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ Á¾ ¸ð¼¼°¡ °¡µ¥½º ¹Ù³×¾Æ¿¡¼­ ³ª¸¦ º¸³»¾î ÀÌ ¶¥À» Á¤Å½ÄÉ ÇϹǷΠ³» ¸¶À½¿¡ ¼º½ÇÇÑ ´ë·Î ±×¿¡°Ô º¸°íÇÏ¿´°í

14:7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh Barnea to explore the land. And I brought him back a report according to my convictions,

14:8 ³ª¿Í ÇÔ²² ¿Ã¶ó°¬´ø ³» ÇüÁ¦µéÀº ¹é¼ºÀÇ °£´ãÀ» ³ì°Ô ÇÏ¿´À¸³ª ³ª´Â ³ªÀÇ Çϳª´Ô ¿©È£¿Í¸¦ ¿ÂÀüÈ÷ ÁÀ¾ÒÀ¸¹Ç·Î

14:8 but my brothers who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt with fear. I, however, followed the LORD my God wholeheartedly.

14:9 ±× ³¯¿¡ ¸ð¼¼°¡ ¸Í¼¼ÇÏ¿© °¡·ÎµÇ ³×°¡ ³ªÀÇ Çϳª´Ô ¿©È£¿Í¸¦ ¿ÂÀüÈ÷ ÁÀ¾ÒÀºÁï ³× ¹ß·Î ¹â´Â ¶¥Àº ¿µ¿µÈ÷ ³Ê¿Í ³× ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ ±â¾÷ÀÌ µÇ¸®¶ó ÇÏ¿´³ªÀÌ´Ù

14:9 So on that day Moses swore to me, 'The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the LORD my God wholeheartedly.'

15:8 Then it ran up the Valley of Ben Hinnom along the southern slope of the Jebusite city (that is, Jerusalem). From there it climbed to the top of the hill west of the Hinnom Valley at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaim.

17:7 The territory of Manasseh extended from Asher to Micmethath east of Shechem. The boundary ran southward from there to include the people living at En Tappuah.

17:9 Then the boundary continued south to the Kanah Ravine. There were towns belonging to Ephraim lying among the towns of Manasseh, but the boundary of Manasseh was the northern side of the ravine and ended at the sea.

17:10 On the south the land belonged to Ephraim, on the north to Manasseh. The territory of Manasseh reached the sea and bordered Asher on the north and Issachar on the east.

17:11 Within Issachar and Asher, Manasseh also had Beth Shan, Ibleam and the people of Dor, Endor, Taanach and Megiddo, together with their surrounding settlements (the third in the list is Naphoth).

17:14 The people of Joseph said to Joshua, "Why have you given us only one allotment and one portion for an inheritance? We are a numerous people and the LORD has blessed us abundantly."

20:4 "When he flees to one of these cities, he is to stand in the entrance of the city gate and state his case before the elders of that city. Then they are to admit him into their city and give him a place to live with them.

20:6 He is to stay in that city until he has stood trial before the assembly and until the death of the high priest who is serving at that time. Then he may go back to his own home in the town from which he fled."

20:8 On the east side of the Jordan of Jericho they designated Bezer in the desert on the plateau in the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead in the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan in the tribe of Manasseh.

20:9 Any of the Israelites or any alien living among them who killed someone accidentally could flee to these designated cities and not be killed by the avenger of blood prior to standing trial before the assembly.

22:5 But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you: to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to obey his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and all your soul."

22:7 (To the half-tribe of Manasseh Moses had given land in Bashan, and to the other half of the tribe Joshua gave land on the west side of the Jordan with their brothers.) When Joshua sent them home, he blessed them,

22:9 So the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh left the Israelites at Shiloh in Canaan to return to Gilead, their own land, which they had acquired in accordance with the command of the LORD through Moses.

22:11 And when the Israelites heard that they had built the altar on the border of Canaan at Geliloth near the Jordan on the Israelite side,

22:17 Was not the sin of Peor enough for us? Up to this very day we have not cleansed ourselves from that sin, even though a plague fell on the community of the LORD!

22:18 And are you now turning away from the LORD? "'If you rebel against the LORD today, tomorrow he will be angry with the whole community of Israel.

22:19 If the land you possess is defiled, come over to the LORD'S land, where the LORD'S tabernacle stands, and share the land with us. But do not rebel against the LORD or against us by building an altar for yourselves, other than the altar of the LORD our God.

22:20 When Achan son of Zerah acted unfaithfully regarding the devoted things, did not wrath come upon the whole community of Israel? He was not the only one who died for his sin.'"

22:22 "The Mighty One, God, the LORD! The Mighty One, God, the LORD! He knows! And let Israel know! If this has been in rebellion or disobedience to the LORD, do not spare us this day.

23:4 Remember how I have allotted as an inheritance for your tribes all the land of the nations that remain--the nations I conquered--between the Jordan and the Great Sea in the west.

23:5 The LORD your God himself will drive them out of your way. He will push them out before you, and you will take possession of their land, as the LORD your God promised you.

23:6 "Be very strong; be careful to obey all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, without turning aside to the right or to the left.

23:7 Do not associate with these nations that remain among you; do not invoke the names of their gods or swear by them. You must not serve them or bow down to them.

23:8 But you are to hold fast to the LORD your God, as you have until now.

23:9 "The LORD has driven out before you great and powerful nations; to this day no one has been able to withstand you.

23:10 One of you routs a thousand, because the LORD your God fights for you, just as he promised.

23:11 So be very careful to love the LORD your God.

23:12 "But if you turn away and ally yourselves with the survivors of these nations that remain among you and if you intermarry with them and associate with them,

23:13 then you may be sure that the LORD your God will no longer drive out these nations before you. Instead, they will become snares and traps for you, whips on your backs and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land, which the LORD your God has given you.

23:14 "Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the LORD your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.

23:15 But just as every good promise of the LORD your God has come true, so the LORD will bring on you all the evil he has threatened, until he has destroyed you from this good land he has given you.

23:16 If you violate the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them, the LORD'S anger will burn against you, and you will quickly perish from the good land he has given you."

24:1 Then Joshua assembled all the tribes of Israel at Shechem. He summoned the elders, leaders, judges and officials of Israel, and they presented themselves before God.

24:2 Joshua said to all the people, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Long ago your forefathers, including Terah the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the River and worshiped other gods.

24:4 and to Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. I assigned the hill country of Seir to Esau, but Jacob and his sons went down to Egypt.

24:5 "'Then I sent Moses and Aaron, and I afflicted the Egyptians by what I did there, and I brought you out.

24:7 But they cried to the LORD for help, and he put darkness between you and the Egyptians; he brought the sea over them and covered them. You saw with your own eyes what I did to the Egyptians. Then you lived in the desert for a long time.

24:8 "'I brought you to the land of the Amorites who lived east of the Jordan. They fought against you, but I gave them into your hands. I destroyed them from before you, and you took possession of their land.

24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."

24:17 It was the LORD our God himself who brought us and our fathers up out of Egypt, from that land of slavery, and performed those great signs before our eyes. He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we traveled.

24:27 "See!" he said to all the people. "This stone will be a witness against us. It has heard all the words the LORD has said to us. It will be a witness against you if you are untrue to your God."

24:32 And Joseph's bones, which the Israelites had brought up from Egypt, were buried at Shechem in the tract of land that Jacob bought for a hundred pieces of silver from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem. This became the inheritance of Joseph's descendants.
