1:1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi, with the Bishops and Deacons of the church:
1:1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:

1:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1:2 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

1:3 I give praise to my God at every memory of you,
1:3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

1:4 And in all my prayers for you all, making my request with joy,

1:5 Because of your help in giving the good news from the first day till now;
1:5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;

1:6 For I am certain of this very thing, that he by whom the good work was started in you will make it complete till the day of Jesus Christ:
1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

1:7 So it is right for me to take thought for you all in this way, because I have you in my heart; for in my chains, and in my arguments before the judges in support of the good news, making clear that it is true, you all have your part with me in grace.
1:7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, all of you all are partakers of my grace.

1:8 For God is my witness, how my love goes out to you all in the loving mercies of Christ Jesus.
1:8 For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.

1:9 And my prayer is that you may be increased more and more in knowledge and experience;
1:9 And this I pray, that your love (o. agape) may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

1:10 ³ÊÈñ·Î Áö±ØÈ÷ ¼±ÇÑ °ÍÀ» ºÐº°ÇÏ¸ç ¶Ç Áø½ÇÇÏ¿© Çã¹° ¾øÀÌ ±×¸®½ºµµÀÇ ³¯±îÁö À̸£°í
1:10 So that you may give your approval to the best things; that you may be true and without wrongdoing till the day of Christ;
1:10 That all of you may approve things that are excellent; that all of you may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.

1:11 Being full of the fruits of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
1:11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

1:12 ¡Û ÇüÁ¦µé¾Æ ³ªÀÇ ´çÇÑ ÀÏÀÌ µµ¸®¾î º¹À½ÀÇ Áøº¸°¡ µÈ ÁÙÀ» ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¾Ë±â¸¦ ¿øÇϳë¶ó
1:12 Now it is my purpose to make clear to you, brothers, that the cause of the good news has been helped by my experiences;
1:12 But I would all of you should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;

1:13 ÀÌ·¯¹Ç·Î ³ªÀÇ ¸ÅÀÓÀÌ ±×¸®½ºµµ ¾È¿¡¼­ ¿Â ½ÃÀ§´ë ¾È°ú ±âŸ ¸ðµç »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô ³ªÅ¸³µÀ¸´Ï
1:13 So that it became clear through all the Praetorium, and to all the rest, that I was a prisoner on account of Christ;
1:13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;

1:14 ÇüÁ¦ Áß ´Ù¼ö°¡ ³ªÀÇ ¸ÅÀÓÀ» ÀÎÇÏ¿© ÁÖ ¾È¿¡¼­ ½Å·ÚÇϹǷΠ°Ì ¾øÀÌ Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ¸»¾¸À» ´õ¿í ´ã´ëÈ÷ ¸»ÇÏ°Ô µÇ¾ú´À´Ï¶ó
1:14 And most of the brothers in the Lord, taking heart because of my chains, are all the stronger to give the word of God without fear.
1:14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word (o. logos) without fear.

1:15 Though some are preaching Christ out of envy and competition, others do it out of a good heart:
1:15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:

1:16 À̵éÀº ³»°¡ º¹À½À» º¯¸íÇϱâ À§ÇÏ¿© ¼¼¿ì½ÉÀ» ¹ÞÀº ÁÙ ¾Ë°í »ç¶ûÀ¸·Î Çϳª
1:16 These do it from love, conscious that I am responsible for the cause of the good news:
1:16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:

1:17 ÀúµéÀº ³ªÀÇ ¸ÅÀÓ¿¡ ±«·Î¿òÀ» ´õÇÏ°Ô ÇÒ ÁÙ·Î »ý°¢ÇÏ¿© ¼øÀüÄ¡ ¸øÇÏ°Ô ´ÙÅùÀ¸·Î ±×¸®½ºµµ¸¦ ÀüÆÄÇÏ´À´Ï¶ó
1:17 But those are preaching Christ in a spirit of competition, not from their hearts, but with the purpose of giving me pain in my prison.
1:17 But the other of love, (o. agape) knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.

1:18 ±×·¯¸é ¹«¾ùÀÌ´¢ ¿Ü¸ð·Î Çϳª ÂüÀ¸·Î Çϳª ¹«½¼ ¹æµµ·Î ÇϵçÁö ÀüÆĵǴ °ÍÀº ±×¸®½ºµµ´Ï ÀÌ·Î½á ³»°¡ ±â»µÇÏ°í ¶ÇÇÑ ±â»µÇϸ®¶ó
1:18 What then? only that in every way, falsely or truly, the preaching of Christ goes on; and in this I am glad, and will be glad.
1:18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

1:19 ÀÌ°ÍÀÌ ³ÊÈñ °£±¸¿Í ¿¹¼ö ±×¸®½ºµµÀÇ ¼º·ÉÀÇ µµ¿ì½ÉÀ¸·Î ³» ±¸¿ø¿¡ À̸£°Ô ÇÒ ÁÙ ¾Æ´Â °í·Î
1:19 For I am conscious that this will be for my salvation, through your prayer and the giving out of the stored wealth of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
1:19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit (o. pneuma) of Jesus Christ,

1:20 ³ªÀÇ °£ÀýÇÑ ±â´ë¿Í ¼Ò¸ÁÀ» µû¶ó ¾Æ¹« ÀÏ¿¡µçÁö ºÎ²ô·´Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ°í ¿ÀÁ÷ Àü°ú °°ÀÌ ÀÌÁ¦µµ ¿ÂÀüÈ÷ ´ã´ëÇÏ¿© »ìµçÁö Á×µçÁö ³» ¸ö¿¡¼­ ±×¸®½ºµµ°¡ Á¸±ÍÈ÷ µÇ°Ô ÇÏ·Á Çϳª´Ï
1:20 In the measure of my strong hope and belief that in nothing will I be put to shame, but that without fear, as at all times, so now will Christ have glory in my body, by life or by death.
1:20 According to my earn expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

1:21 For to me life is Christ and death is profit.
1:21 In order to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

1:22 ±×·¯³ª ¸¸ÀÏ À°½ÅÀ¸·Î »ç´Â ÀÌ°ÍÀÌ ³» ÀÏÀÇ ¿­¸ÅÀÏÁø´ë ¹«¾ùÀ» °¡¸±´ÂÁö ³ª´Â ¾ËÁö ¸øÇϳë¶ó
1:22 But if I go on living in the flesh--if this is the fruit of my work--then I do not see what decision to make.
1:22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I know not.

1:23 ³»°¡ ±× µÎ »çÀÌ¿¡ ³¢¿´À¸´Ï ¶°³ª¼­ ±×¸®½ºµµ¿Í ÇÔ²² ÀÖÀ» ¿å¸ÁÀ» °¡Áø ÀÌ°ÍÀÌ ´õ¿í ÁÁÀ¸³ª
1:23 I am in a hard position between the two, having a desire to go away and be with Christ, which is very much better:
1:23 For I am in a strait between two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

1:24 ±×·¯³ª ³»°¡ À°½Å¿¡ °ÅÇÏ´Â °ÍÀÌ ³ÊÈñ¸¦ À§ÇÏ¿© ´õ À¯ÀÍÇϸ®¶ó
1:24 Still, to go on in the flesh is more necessary because of you.
1:24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more necessary for you.

1:25 ³»°¡ »ì °Í°ú ³ÊÈñ ¹ÏÀ½ÀÇ Áøº¸¿Í ±â»ÝÀ» À§ÇÏ¿© ³ÊÈñ ¹«¸®¿Í ÇÔ²² °ÅÇÒ ÀÌ°ÍÀ» È®½ÇÈ÷ ¾Æ³ë´Ï
1:25 And being certain of this, I am conscious that I will go on, yes, and go on with you all, for your growth and joy in the faith;
1:25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;

1:26 ³»°¡ ´Ù½Ã ³ÊÈñ¿Í °°ÀÌ ÀÖÀ½À¸·Î ±×¸®½ºµµ ¿¹¼ö ¾È¿¡¼­ ³ÊÈñ ÀÚ¶ûÀÌ ³ª¸¦ ÀÎÇÏ¿© dz¼ºÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ·Á ÇÔÀ̶ó
1:26 So that your pride in me may be increased in Christ Jesus through my being present with you again.
1:26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.

1:27 ¿ÀÁ÷ ³ÊÈñ´Â ±×¸®½ºµµ º¹À½¿¡ ÇÕ´çÇÏ°Ô »ýÈ°Ç϶ó ÀÌ´Â ³»°¡ ³ÊÈñ¸¦ °¡º¸³ª ¶°³ª ÀÖÀ¸³ª ³ÊÈñ°¡ ÀϽÉÀ¸·Î ¼­¼­ ÇÑ ¶æÀ¸·Î º¹À½ÀÇ ½Å¾ÓÀ» À§ÇÏ¿© Çù·ÂÇÏ´Â °Í°ú
1:27 Only let your behaviour do credit to the good news of Christ, so that if I come and see you or if I am away from you, I may have news of you that you are strong in one spirit, working together with one soul for the faith of the good news;
1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becomes the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that all of you stand fast in one spirit, (o. pneuma) with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

1:28 ¾Æ¹« ÀÏ¿¡µçÁö ´ëÀûÇÏ´Â ÀÚ¸¦ ÀÎÇÏ¿© µÎ·Á¿öÇÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ´Â ÀÌ ÀÏÀ» µè°íÀÚ ÇÔÀ̶ó ÀÌ°ÍÀÌ ÀúÈñ¿¡°Ô´Â ¸ê¸ÁÀÇ ºù°Å¿ä ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô´Â ±¸¿øÀÇ ºù°Å´Ï ÀÌ´Â Çϳª´Ô²²·ÎºÎÅÍ ³­ °ÍÀ̴϶ó
1:28 Having no fear of those who are against you; which is a clear sign of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God;
1:28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

1:29 Because to you it has been given in the cause of Christ not only to have faith in him, but to undergo pain on his account:
1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

1:30 Fighting the same fight which you saw in me, and now have word of in me.
1:30 Having the same conflict which all of you saw in me, and now hear to be in me.

2:1 If then there is any comfort in Christ, any help given by love, any uniting of hearts in the Spirit, any loving mercies and pity,
2:1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, (o. agape) if any fellowship of the Spirit, (o. pneuma) if any bowels and mercies,

2:2 ¸¶À½À» °°ÀÌ ÇÏ¿© °°Àº »ç¶ûÀ» °¡Áö°í ¶æÀ» ÇÕÇϸç ÇÑ ¸¶À½À» Ç°¾î
2:2 Make my joy complete by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in harmony and of one mind;
2:2 Fulfill all of you my joy, that all of you be likeminded, having the same love, (o. agape) being of one accord, of one mind.

2:3 ¾Æ¹« ÀÏ¿¡µçÁö ´ÙÅùÀ̳ª Ç㿵À¸·Î ÇÏÁö ¸»°í ¿ÀÁ÷ °â¼ÕÇÑ ¸¶À½À¸·Î °¢°¢ Àڱ⺸´Ù ³²À» ³´°Ô ¿©±â°í
2:3 Doing nothing through envy or through pride, but with low thoughts of self let everyone take others to be better than himself;
2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

2:4 Not looking everyone to his private good, but keeping in mind the things of others.
2:4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

2:5 ³ÊÈñ ¾È¿¡ ÀÌ ¸¶À½À» Ç°À¸¶ó °ð ±×¸®½ºµµ ¿¹¼öÀÇ ¸¶À½ÀÌ´Ï
2:5 Let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus,
2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

2:6 ±×´Â ±Ùº» Çϳª´ÔÀÇ º»Ã¼½Ã³ª Çϳª´Ô°ú µ¿µîµÊÀ» ÃëÇÒ °ÍÀ¸·Î ¿©±âÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇϽðí
2:6 To whom, though himself in the form of God, it did not seem that to take for oneself was to be like God;
2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

2:7 ¿ÀÈ÷·Á Àڱ⸦ ºñ¾î Á¾ÀÇ Çüü¸¦ °¡Á® »ç¶÷µé°ú °°ÀÌ µÇ¾ú°í
2:7 But he made himself as nothing, taking the form of a servant, being made like men;
2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

2:8 »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¸ð¾çÀ¸·Î ³ªÅ¸³ª¼ÌÀ¸¸Å Àڱ⸦ ³·Ã߽ðí Á×±â±îÁö º¹Á¾ÇϼÌÀ¸´Ï °ð ½ÊÀÚ°¡¿¡ Á×À¸½ÉÀ̶ó
2:8 And being seen in form as a man, he took the lowest place, and let himself be put to death, even the death of the cross.
2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

2:9 ÀÌ·¯¹Ç·Î Çϳª´ÔÀÌ ±×¸¦ Áö±ØÈ÷ ³ô¿© ¸ðµç À̸§ À§¿¡ ¶Ù¾î³­ À̸§À» ÁÖ»ç
2:9 For this reason God has put him in the highest place and has given to him the name which is greater than every name;
2:9 Wherefore God also has highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

2:10 Çϴÿ¡ ÀÖ´Â ÀÚµé°ú ¶¥¿¡ ÀÖ´Â ÀÚµé°ú ¶¥ ¾Æ·¡ ÀÖ´Â ÀÚµé·Î ¸ðµç ¹«¸­À» ¿¹¼öÀÇ À̸§¿¡ ²Ý°Ô ÇϽðí
2:10 So that at the name of Jesus every knee may be bent, of those in heaven and those on earth and those in the underworld,
2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

2:11 ¸ðµç ÀÔÀ¸·Î ¿¹¼ö ±×¸®½ºµµ¸¦ ÁÖ¶ó ½ÃÀÎÇÏ¿© Çϳª´Ô ¾Æ¹öÁö²² ¿µ±¤À» µ¹¸®°Ô Çϼ̴À´Ï¶ó
2:11 And that every tongue may give witness that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

2:12 So then, my loved ones, as you have at all times done what I say, not only when I am present, but now much more when I am not with you, give yourselves to working out your salvation with fear in your hearts;
2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as all of you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

2:13 ³ÊÈñ ¾È¿¡¼­ ÇàÇϽô ÀÌ´Â Çϳª´ÔÀÌ½Ã´Ï ÀÚ±âÀÇ ±â»Ú½Å ¶æÀ» À§ÇÏ¿© ³ÊÈñ·Î ¼Ò¿øÀ» µÎ°í ÇàÇÏ°Ô ÇϽóª´Ï
2:13 For it is God who is the cause of your desires and of your acts, for his good pleasure.
2:13 For it is God which works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
2:14 ¸ðµç ÀÏÀ» ¿ø¸Á°ú ½Ãºñ°¡ ¾øÀÌ Ç϶ó
2:14 Do all things without protests and arguments;

2:14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

4:5 Let your gentle behaviour be clear to all men. The Lord is near.
4:5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

4:6 Have no cares; but in everything with prayer and praise put your requests before God.
4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

4:7 And the peace of God, which is deeper than all knowledge, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

4:8 For the rest, my brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things have honour, whatever things are upright, whatever things are holy, whatever things are beautiful, whatever things are of value, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, give thought to these things.
4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

4:9 The things which came to you by my teaching and preaching, and which you saw in me, these things do, and the God of peace will be with you.
4:9 Those things, which all of you have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

4:10 But I am very glad in the Lord that your care for me has come to life again; though you did in fact take thought for me, but you were not able to give effect to it.
4:10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me has flourished again; wherein all of you were also careful, but all of you lacked opportunity.

4:12 It is the same to me if I am looked down on or honoured; everywhere and in all things I have the secret of how to be full and how to go without food; how to have wealth and how to be in need.
4:12 I know both how to be brought low, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

4:15 And you have knowledge, Philippians, that when the good news first came to you, when I went away from Macedonia, no church took part with me in the business of giving to the saints, but you only;
4:15 Now all of you Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning (o. logos) giving and receiving, but all of you only.

4:18 I have all things and more than enough: I am made full, having had from Epaphroditus the things which came from you, a perfume of a sweet smell, an offering well pleasing to God.
4:18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God.
