1:1 Paul, an Apostle of Christ Jesus by the purpose of God, to the saints who are at Ephesus, and those who have faith in Christ Jesus:

1:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has given us every blessing of the Spirit in the heavens in Christ:

1:4 Even as he made selection of us in him from the first, so that we might be holy and free from all evil before him in love:
1:4 According as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: (o. agape)

1:5 As we were designed before by him for the position of sons to himself, through Jesus Christ, in the good pleasure of his purpose,
1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, which he freely gave to us in the Loved One:

1:7 In whom we have salvation through his blood, the forgiveness of our sins, through the wealth of his grace,
1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

1:8 Which he gave us in full measure in all wisdom and care;
1:8 Wherein he has abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

1:9 Having made clear to us the secret of his purpose, in agreement with the design which he had in mind, to put into his hands
1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he has purposed in himself:

1:10 The ordering of the times when they are complete, so that all things might come to a head in Christ, the things in heaven and the things on the earth; in him, I say,
1:10 That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

1:11 In whom we have a heritage, being marked out from the first in his purpose who does all things in agreement with his designs;
1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will:

1:12 So that his glory might have praise through us who first had hope in Christ:
1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

1:13 In whom you, having been given the true word, the good news of your salvation, and through your faith in him, were given the sign of the Holy Spirit of hope,
1:13 In whom all of you also trusted, after that all of you heard the word (o. logos) of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that all of you believed, all of you were sealed with that holy Spirit (o. pneuma) of promise,

1:14 Which is the first-fruit of our heritage, till God gets back that which is his, to the praise of his glory.
1:14 Which is the earn of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

1:15 For this cause I, having had news of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and which you make clear to all the saints,
1:15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love (o. agape) unto all the saints,

1:16 Give praise without end for you, keeping you in mind in my prayers;
1:16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;

1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him;

1:18 And that having the eyes of your heart full of light, you may have knowledge of what is the hope of his purpose, what is the wealth of the glory of his heritage in the saints,
1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that all of you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

1:19 ±×ÀÇ ÈûÀÇ °­·ÂÀ¸·Î ¿ª»çÇϽÉÀ» µû¶ó ¹Ï´Â ¿ì¸®¿¡°Ô º£Çª½Å ´É·ÂÀÇ Áö±ØÈ÷ Å©½ÉÀÌ ¾î¶² °ÍÀ» ³ÊÈñ·Î ¾Ë°Ô ÇϽñ⸦ ±¸Çϳë¶ó
1:19 And how unlimited is his power to us who have faith, as is seen in the working of the strength of his power,
1:19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

1:20 By which he made Christ come back from the dead, and gave him a place at his right hand in heaven,
1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

1:21 ¸ðµç Á¤»ç¿Í ±Ç¼¼¿Í ´É·Â°ú ÁÖ°üÇÏ´Â ÀÚ¿Í ÀÌ ¼¼»ó»Ó ¾Æ´Ï¶ó ¿À´Â ¼¼»ó¿¡ ÀÏÄ´ ¸ðµç À̸§ À§¿¡ ¶Ù¾î³ª°Ô ÇϽðí
1:21 Far over all rule and authority and power and every name which is named, not only in the present order, but in that which is to come:
1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

1:22 ¶Ç ¸¸¹°À» ±× ¹ß ¾Æ·¡ º¹Á¾ÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ½Ã°í ±×¸¦ ¸¸¹° À§¿¡ ±³È¸ÀÇ ¸Ó¸®·Î Á̴ּÀ´Ï¶ó
1:22 And he has put all things under his feet, and has made him to be head over all things to the church,
1:22 And has put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

1:23 Which is his body, the full measure of him in whom all things are made complete.

2:1 ³ÊÈñÀÇ Çã¹°°ú ÁË·Î Á×¾ú´ø ³ÊÈñ¸¦ »ì¸®¼Ìµµ´Ù
2:1 And to you did he give life, when you were dead through your wrongdoing and sins,
2:1 And you has he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2:2 ±× ¶§¿¡ ³ÊÈñ°¡ ±× °¡¿îµ¥¼­ ÇàÇÏ¿© ÀÌ ¼¼»ó dz¼ÓÀ» ÁÀ°í °øÁßÀÇ ±Ç¼¼ ÀâÀº ÀÚ¸¦ µû¶úÀ¸´Ï °ð Áö±Ý ºÒ¼øÁ¾ÀÇ ¾Æµéµé °¡¿îµ¥¼­ ¿ª»çÇÏ´Â ¿µÀ̶ó
2:2 In which you were living in the past, after the ways of this present world, doing the pleasure of the lord of the power of the air, the spirit who is now working in those who go against the purpose of God;
2:2 Wherein in time past all of you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit (o. pneuma) that now works in the children of disobedience:

2:3 Àü¿¡´Â ¿ì¸®µµ ´Ù ±× °¡¿îµ¥¼­ ¿ì¸® À°Ã¼ÀÇ ¿å½ÉÀ» µû¶ó Áö³»¸ç À°Ã¼¿Í ¸¶À½ÀÇ ¿øÇÏ´Â °ÍÀ» ÇÏ¿© ´Ù¸¥ À̵é°ú °°ÀÌ º»Áú»ó Áø³ëÀÇ ÀÚ³àÀ̾ú´õ´Ï
2:3 Among whom we all at one time were living in the pleasures of our flesh, giving way to the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and the punishment of God was waiting for us even as for the rest.
2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

2:4 ±àÈá¿¡ dz¼ºÇϽŠÇϳª´ÔÀÌ ¿ì¸®¸¦ »ç¶ûÇϽŠ±× Å« »ç¶ûÀ» ÀÎÇÏ¿©
2:4 But God, being full of mercy, through the great love which he had for us,
2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love (o. agape) wherewith he loved us,

2:5 Even when we were dead through our sins, gave us life together with Christ (by grace you have salvation),
2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, has quickened us together with Christ, (by grace all of you are saved;)

2:6 ¶Ç ÇÔ²² ÀÏÀ¸Å°»ç ±×¸®½ºµµ ¿¹¼ö ¾È¿¡¼­ ÇÔ²² Çϴÿ¡ ¾ÉÈ÷½Ã´Ï
2:6 So that we came back from death with him, and are seated with him in the heavens, in Christ Jesus;
2:6 And has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

2:7 ÀÌ´Â ±×¸®½ºµµ ¿¹¼ö ¾È¿¡¼­ ¿ì¸®¿¡°Ô ÀÚºñÇϽÉÀ¸·Î½á ±× ÀºÇýÀÇ Áö±ØÈ÷ dz¼ºÇÔÀ» ¿À´Â ¿©·¯ ¼¼´ë¿¡ ³ªÅ¸³»·Á ÇϽÉÀ̴϶ó
2:7 That in the time to come he might make clear the full wealth of his grace in his mercy to us in Christ Jesus:
2:7 That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

2:8 Because by grace you have salvation through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is given by God:
2:8 For by grace are all of you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

2:9 ÇàÀ§¿¡¼­ ³­ °ÍÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï´Ï ÀÌ´Â ´©±¸µçÁö ÀÚ¶ûÄ¡ ¸øÇÏ°Ô ÇÔÀ̴϶ó
2:9 Not by works, so that no man may take glory to himself.
2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

2:10 For by his act we were given existence in Christ Jesus to do those good works which God before made ready for us so that we might do them.
2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.

2:11 ¡Û ±×·¯¹Ç·Î »ý°¢Ç϶ó ³ÊÈñ´Â ±× ¶§¿¡ À°Ã¼·Î À̹æÀÎÀÌ¿ä ¼ÕÀ¸·Î À°Ã¼¿¡ ÇàÇÑ ÇÒ·Ê´çÀ̶ó ĪÇÏ´Â Àڵ鿡°Ô ¹«ÇÒ·Ê´çÀ̶ó ĪÇÔÀ» ¹Þ´Â ÀÚµéÀ̶ó
2:11 For this reason keep it in mind that in the past you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are looked on as being outside the circumcision by those who have circumcision, in the flesh, made by hands;
2:11 Wherefore remember, that all of you being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

2:12 ±× ¶§¿¡ ³ÊÈñ´Â ±×¸®½ºµµ ¹Û¿¡ ÀÖ¾ú°í À̽º¶ó¿¤ ³ª¶ó ¹ÛÀÇ »ç¶÷À̶ó ¾à¼ÓÀÇ ¾ð¾àµé¿¡ ´ëÇÏ¿© ¿ÜÀÎÀÌ¿ä ¼¼»ó¿¡¼­ ¼Ò¸ÁÀÌ ¾ø°í Çϳª´Ôµµ ¾ø´Â ÀÚÀÌ´õ´Ï
2:12 That you were at that time without Christ, being cut off from any part in Israel's rights as a nation, having no part in God's agreement, having no hope, and without God in the world.
2:12 That at that time all of you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

2:13 ÀÌÁ¦´Â Àü¿¡ ¸Ö¸® ÀÖ´ø ³ÊÈñ°¡ ±×¸®½ºµµ ¿¹¼ö ¾È¿¡¼­ ±×¸®½ºµµÀÇ ÇÇ·Î °¡±î¿öÁ³´À´Ï¶ó
2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who at one time were far off are made near in the blood of Christ.
2:13 But now in Christ Jesus all of you who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

2:14 ±×´Â ¿ì¸®ÀÇ È­ÆòÀ̽ÅÁö¶ó µÑ·Î Çϳª¸¦ ¸¸µå»ç Áß°£¿¡ ¸·Èù ´ãÀ» Çã½Ã°í
2:14 For he is our peace, who has made the two into one, and by whom the middle wall of division has been broken down,
2:14 For he is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

2:15 ¿ø¼ö µÈ °Í °ð Àǹ®¿¡ ¼ÓÇÑ °è¸íÀÇ À²¹ýÀ» ÀÚ±â À°Ã¼·Î ÆóÇϼÌÀ¸´Ï ÀÌ´Â ÀÌ µÑ·Î ÀÚ±âÀÇ ¾È¿¡¼­ ÇÑ »õ »ç¶÷À» Áö¾î È­ÆòÇÏ°Ô ÇϽðí
2:15 Having in his flesh put an end to that which made the division between us, even the law with its rules and orders, so that he might make in himself, of the two, one new man, so making peace;
2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; in order to make in himself of two one new man, so making peace;

2:16 ¶Ç ½ÊÀÚ°¡·Î ÀÌ µÑÀ» ÇÑ ¸öÀ¸·Î Çϳª´Ô°ú È­¸ñÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ·Á ÇϽÉÀ̶ó ¿ø¼ö µÈ °ÍÀ» ½ÊÀÚ°¡·Î ¼Ò¸êÇϽðí
2:16 And that the two might come into agreement with God in one body through the cross, so putting an end to that division.
2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

2:17 And he came preaching peace to you who were far off, and to those who were near;
2:17 And came and preached peace to you which were far off, and to them that were nigh.

2:18 ÀÌ´Â Àú·Î ¸»¹Ì¾Ï¾Æ ¿ì¸® µÑÀÌ ÇÑ ¼º·É ¾È¿¡¼­ ¾Æ¹öÁö²² ³ª¾Æ°¨À» ¾ò°Ô ÇÏ·Á ÇϽÉÀ̶ó
2:18 Because through him the two of us are able to come near in one Spirit to the Father.
2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit (o. pneuma) unto the Father.

4:1 I then, the prisoner in the Lord, make this request from my heart, that you will see that your behaviour is a credit to the position which God's purpose has given you,
4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, plead to you that all of you walk worthy of the vocation wherewith all of you are called,

5:2 And be living in love, even as Christ had love for you, and gave himself up for us, an offering to God for a perfume of a sweet smell.

5:5 Being certain of this, that no man who gives way to the passions of the flesh, no unclean person, or one who has desire for the property of others, or who gives worship to images, has any heritage in the kingdom of Christ and God.
5:5 For this all of you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

5:8 For you at one time were dark, but now are light in the Lord: let your behaviour be that of children of light
5:8 For all of you were sometimes darkness, but now are all of you light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

5:9 (Because the fruit of the light is in all righteousness and in everything which is good and true),

5:10 Testing by experience what is well-pleasing to the Lord;

5:11 And have no company with the works of the dark, which give no fruit, but make their true quality clear;
5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

6:7 Doing your work readily, as to the Lord, and not to men:
6:7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:

6:8 ÀÌ´Â °¢ »ç¶÷ÀÌ ¹«½¼ ¼±À» ÇàÇϵçÁö Á¾À̳ª ÀÚÀ¯ÇÏ´Â ÀÚ³ª ÁÖ¿¡°Ô ±×´ë·Î ¹ÞÀ» ÁÙÀ» ¾ÍÀ̴϶ó
6:8 In the knowledge that for every good thing anyone does, he will have his reward from the Lord, If he is a servant or if he is free.
6:8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man does, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

6:9 »óÀüµé¾Æ ³ÊÈñµµ ÀúÈñ¿¡°Ô ÀÌ¿Í °°ÀÌ ÇÏ°í °ø°¥À» ±×Ä¡¶ó ÀÌ´Â ÀúÈñ¿Í ³ÊÈñÀÇ »óÀüÀÌ Çϴÿ¡ °è½Ã°í ±×¿¡°Ô´Â ¿Ü¸ð·Î »ç¶÷À» ÃëÇÏ´Â ÀÏÀÌ ¾ø´Â ÁÙ ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¾ÍÀ̴϶ó
6:9 And, you masters, do the same things to them, not making use of violent words: in the knowledge that their Master and yours is in heaven, and he has no respect for a man's position.
6:9 And, all of you masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

6:10 ¡Û Á¾¸»·Î ³ÊÈñ°¡ ÁÖ ¾È¿¡¼­¿Í ±× ÈûÀÇ ´É·ÂÀ¸·Î °­°ÇÇÏ¿©Áö°í
6:10 Lastly, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his power.
6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

6:11 ¸¶±ÍÀÇ ±Ë°è¸¦ ´ÉÈ÷ ´ëÀûÇϱâ À§ÇÏ¿© Çϳª´ÔÀÇ Àü½Å°©ÁÖ¸¦ ÀÔÀ¸¶ó
6:11 Take up God's instruments of war, so that you may be able to keep your position against all the deceits of the Evil One.
6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that all of you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

6:12 ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ¾¾¸§Àº Ç÷°ú À°¿¡ ´ëÇÑ °ÍÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï¿ä Á¤»ç¿Í ±Ç¼¼¿Í ÀÌ ¾îµÎ¿òÀÇ ¼¼»ó ÁÖ°üÀÚµé°ú Çϴÿ¡ ÀÖ´Â ¾ÇÀÇ ¿µµé¿¡°Ô ´ëÇÔÀ̶ó
6:12 For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against authorities and powers, against the world-rulers of this dark night, against the spirits of evil in the heavens.
6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

6:13 ±×·¯¹Ç·Î Çϳª´ÔÀÇ Àü½Å°©ÁÖ¸¦ ÃëÇ϶ó ÀÌ´Â ¾ÇÇÑ ³¯¿¡ ³ÊÈñ°¡ ´ÉÈ÷ ´ëÀûÇÏ°í ¸ðµç ÀÏÀ» ÇàÇÑ ÈÄ¿¡ ¼­±â À§ÇÔÀ̶ó
6:13 For this reason take up all the arms of God, so that you may be able to be strong in the evil day, and, having done all, to keep your place.
6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that all of you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

6:14 Take your place, then, having your body clothed with the true word, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness;
6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

6:15 Æò¾ÈÀÇ º¹À½ÀÇ ¿¹ºñÇÑ °ÍÀ¸·Î ½ÅÀ» ½Å°í
6:15 Be ready with the good news of peace as shoes on your feet;
6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

6:16 ¸ðµç °Í À§¿¡ ¹ÏÀ½ÀÇ ¹æÆи¦ °¡Áö°í ÀÌ·Î½á ´ÉÈ÷ ¾ÇÇÑ ÀÚÀÇ ¸ðµç È­ÀüÀ» ¼Ò¸êÇÏ°í
6:16 And most of all, using faith as a cover to keep off all the flaming arrows of the Evil One.
6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith all of you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

6:17 ±¸¿øÀÇ Åõ±¸¿Í ¼º·ÉÀÇ °Ë °ð Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ¸»¾¸À» °¡Áö¶ó
6:17 And take salvation for your head-dress and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, (o. pneuma) which is the word (o. rhema) of God:

6:18 With prayers and deep desires, making requests at all times in the Spirit, and keeping watch, with strong purpose, in prayer for all the saints,
6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, (o. pneuma) and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

6:19 And for me, that words may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make clear without fear the secret of the good news,
6:19 And for me, that utterance (o. logos) may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

6:20 For which I am a representative in chains, and that I may say without fear the things which it is right for me to say.
6:20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

6:21 But so that you may have knowledge of my business, and how I am, Tychicus, the well-loved brother and tested servant in the Lord, will give you news of all things:
6:21 But that all of you also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:

6:22 Whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, so that you may have knowledge of our position, and that he may give comfort to your hearts.

6:23 Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
