1:2 You have been loved by me, says the Lord. But you say, Where was your love for us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? says the Lord: but Jacob was loved by me,
1:2 I have loved you, says the LORD. Yet all of you say, Wherein have you loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? says the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,

1:3 And Esau was hated, and I sent destruction on his mountains, and gave his heritage to the beasts of the waste land.
1:3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

1:4 Though Edom says, We are crushed down but we will come back, building up the waste places; this is what the Lord of armies has said: They may put up buildings, but I will have them pulled down; and they will be named The land of evil-doing, and The people against whom the Lord keeps his wrath for ever.
1:4 Whereas Edom says, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus says the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD has indignation for ever.

1:5 ³ÊÈñ´Â ¸ñµµÇÏ°í À̸£±â¸¦ ¿©È£¿Í²²¼­´Â À̽º¶ó¿¤ Áö°æ ¹Û¿¡¼­ Å©½Ã´Ù Çϸ®¶ó
1:5 And your eyes will see it; and you will say, The Lord is great even outside the limits of Israel.
1:5 And your eyes shall see, and all of you shall say, The LORD will be magnified from the border of Israel.

1:6 A son gives honour to his father, and a servant has fear of his master: if then I am a father, where is my honour? and if I am a master, where is the fear of me? says the Lord of armies to you, O priests, who give no value to my name. And you say, How have we not given value to your name?
1:6 A son honors his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? says the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And all of you say, Wherein have we despised your name?

1:7 ³ÊÈñ°¡ ´õ·¯¿î ¶±À» ³ªÀÇ ´Ü¿¡ µå¸®°íµµ ¸»Çϱ⸦ ¿ì¸®°¡ ¾î¶»°Ô ÁÖ¸¦ ´õ·´°Ô ÇÏ¿´³ªÀ̱î Çϴµµ´Ù ÀÌ´Â ³ÊÈñ°¡ ÁÖÀÇ »óÀº °æ¸êÈ÷ ¿©±æ °ÍÀÌ¶ó ¸»ÇÔÀ» ÀÎÇÔÀ̴϶ó
1:7 You put unclean bread on my altar. And you say, How have we made it unclean? By your saying, The table of the Lord is of no value.
1:7 All of you offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and all of you say, Wherein have we polluted you? In that all of you say, The table of the LORD is contemptible.

1:8 ¸¸±ºÀÇ ¿©È£¿Í°¡ À̸£³ë¶ó ³ÊÈñ°¡ ´« ¸Õ Èñ»ýÀ¸·Î µå¸®´Â °ÍÀÌ ¾îÂî ¾ÇÇÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇϸç Àú´Â °Í, º´µç °ÍÀ¸·Î µå¸®´Â °ÍÀÌ ¾îÂî ¾ÇÇÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ³Ä ÀÌÁ¦ ±×°ÍÀ» ³ÊÈñ Ãѵ¶¿¡°Ô µå·Á º¸¶ó ±×°¡ ³Ê¸¦ ±â»µÇÏ°Ú´À³Ä ³Ê¸¦ °¡³³ÇÏ°Ú´À³Ä
1:8 And when you give what is blind for an offering, it is no evil! and when you give what is damaged and ill, it is no evil! Give it now to your ruler; will he be pleased with you, or will you have his approval? says the Lord of armies.
1:8 And if all of you offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if all of you offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto your governor; will he be pleased with you, or accept your person? says the LORD of hosts.

1:9 ¸¸±ºÀÇ ¿©È£¿Í°¡ À̸£³ë¶ó ³ÊÈñ´Â ³ª Çϳª´Ô²² ÀºÇý¸¦ ±¸Çϱ⸦ ¿ì¸®¸¦ ±àÈáÈ÷ ¿©±â¼Ò¼­ ÇÏ¿© º¸¶ó ³ÊÈñ°¡ ÀÌ°°ÀÌ ÇàÇÏ¿´À¸´Ï ³»°¡ ³ÊÈñ Áß ÇϳªÀÎµé ¹Þ°Ú´À³Ä
1:9 And now, make request for the grace of God so that he may have mercy on us: this has been your doing: will he give his approval to any of you? says the Lord of armies.
1:9 And now, I pray you, plead to God that he will be gracious unto us: this has been by your means: will he regard your persons? says the LORD of hosts.

1:10 If only there was one among you who would see that the doors were shut, so that you might not put a light to the fire on my altar for nothing! I have no pleasure in you, says the Lord of armies, and I will not take an offering from your hands.
1:10 Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nothing? neither do all of you kindle fire on mine altar for nothing. I have no pleasure in you, says the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

1:11 ¸¸±ºÀÇ ¿©È£¿Í°¡ À̸£³ë¶ó ÇØ ¶ß´Â °÷¿¡¼­ºÎÅÍ ÇØ Áö´Â °÷±îÁöÀÇ ÀÌ¹æ ¹ÎÁ· Áß¿¡¼­ ³» À̸§ÀÌ Å©°Ô µÉ °ÍÀÌ¶ó °¢Ã³¿¡¼­ ³» À̸§À» À§ÇÏ¿© ºÐÇâÇÏ¸ç ±ú²ýÇÑ Á¦¹°À» µå¸®¸®´Ï ÀÌ´Â ³» À̸§ÀÌ ÀÌ¹æ ¹ÎÁ· Áß¿¡¼­ Å©°Ô µÉ °ÍÀÓÀ̴϶ó
1:11 For, from the coming up of the sun till its going down, my name is great among the Gentiles; and in every place the smell of burning flesh is offered to my name, and a clean offering: for my name is great among the Gentiles, says the Lord of armies.
1:11 For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, says the LORD of hosts.

1:12 ±×·¯³ª ³ÊÈñ´Â ¸»Çϱ⸦ ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ »óÀº ´õ·¯¿ü°í ±× À§¿¡ ÀÖ´Â ½Ç°ú °ð ½Ä¹°Àº °æ¸êÈ÷ ¿©±æ °ÍÀ̶ó ÇÏ¿© ³» À̸§À» ´õ·´È÷´Âµµ´Ù
1:12 But you make it unholy by saying, The Lord's table has become unclean, and his food is of no value.
1:12 But all of you have profaned it, in that all of you say, The table of the LORD is polluted; and the fruit thereof, even his food, is contemptible.

1:13 ¸¸±ºÀÇ ¿©È£¿Í°¡ À̸£³ë¶ó ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¶Ç ¸»Çϱ⸦ ÀÌ ÀÏÀÌ ¾ó¸¶³ª ¹øÆ󽺷¯¿î°í Çϸç ÄÚ¿ôÀ½ÇÏ°í Åä»öÇÑ ¹°°Ç°ú Àú´Â °Í º´µç °ÍÀ» °¡Á®¿Ô´À´Ï¶ó ³ÊÈñ°¡ ÀÌ°°ÀÌ Çå¹°À» °¡Á®¿À´Ï ³»°¡ ±×°ÍÀ» ³ÊÈñ ¼Õ¿¡¼­ ¹Þ°Ú´À³Ä ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ ¸»À̴϶ó
1:13 And you say, See, what a weariness it is! and you let out your breath at it, says the Lord of armies; and you have given what has been cut about by beasts, and what is damaged in its feet and ill; this is the offering you give: will this be pleasing to me from your hands? says the Lord.
1:13 All of you said also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and all of you have snuffed at it, says the LORD of hosts; and all of you brought that which was torn, and the lame, and the sick; thus all of you brought an offering: should I accept this of your hand? says the LORD.

1:14 ¶¼ °¡¿îµ¥ ¼öÄÆÀÌ ÀÖ°Å´Ã ±× ¼­¿øÇÏ´Â ÀÏ¿¡ Èì ÀÖ´Â °ÍÀ¸·Î »ç±âÇÏ¿© ³»°Ô µå¸®´Â ÀÚ´Â ÀúÁÖ¸¦ ¹ÞÀ¸¸®´Ï ³ª´Â Å« ÀÓ±ÝÀÌ¿ä ³» À̸§Àº ¿­¹æ Áß¿¡¼­ µÎ·Á¿öÇÏ´Â °ÍÀÌ µÊÀÌ´Ï¶ó ¸¸±ºÀÇ ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ ¸»À̴϶ó
1:14 A curse on the false man who has a male in his flock, and takes his oath, and gives to the Lord a damaged thing: for I am a great King, says the Lord of armies, and my name is to be feared among the Gentiles.
1:14 But cursed be the deceiver, which has in his flock a male, and vows, and sacrifices unto the LORD a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, says the LORD of hosts, and my name is dreadful among the heathen.

2:1 ³ÊÀÇ Á¦»çÀåµé¾Æ ÀÌÁ¦ ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ÀÌ°°ÀÌ ¸í·ÉÇϳë¶ó
2:1 And now, O you priests, this order is for you.
2:1 And now, O all of you priests, this commandment is for you.

2:2 ¸¸±ºÀÇ ¿©È£¿Í°¡ À̸£³ë¶ó ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¸¸ÀÏ µèÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¸ç ¸¶À½¿¡ µÎÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿© ³» À̸§À» ¿µÈ­·Ó°Ô ÇÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¸é ³»°¡ ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ÀúÁÖ¸¦ ³»·Á ³ÊÈñÀÇ º¹À» ÀúÁÖÇϸ®¶ó ³»°¡ ÀÌ¹Ì ÀúÁÖÇÏ¿´³ª´Ï ÀÌ´Â ³ÊÈñ°¡ ±×°ÍÀ» ¸¶À½¿¡ µÎÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿´À½À̴϶ó
2:2 If you will not give ear and take it to heart, to give glory to my name, says the Lord of armies, then I will send the curse on you and will put a curse on your blessing: truly, even now I have put a curse on it, because you do not take it to heart.
2:2 If all of you will not hear, and if all of you will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, says the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because all of you do not lay it to heart.

2:3 º¸¶ó ³»°¡ ³ÊÈñÀÇ Á¾ÀÚ¸¦ °ßÃ¥ÇÒ °ÍÀÌ¿ä ¶Ë °ð ³ÊÈñ Àý±âÀÇ Èñ»ýÀÇ ¶ËÀ» ³ÊÈñ ¾ó±¼¿¡ ¹Ù¸¦ °ÍÀ̶ó ³ÊÈñ°¡ ±×°Í°ú ÇÔ²² Á¦ÇÏ¿© ¹ö¸²À» ´çÇϸ®¶ó
2:3 See, I will have your arm cut off, and will put waste on your faces, even the waste from your feasts; and you will be taken away with it.
2:3 Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it.

2:4 ¸¸±ºÀÇ ¿©È£¿Í°¡ À̸£³ë¶ó ³»°¡ ÀÌ ¸í·ÉÀ» ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ³»¸° °ÍÀº ·¹À§¿Í ¼¼¿î ³ªÀÇ ¾ð¾àÀÌ Ç×»ó ÀÖ°Ô ÇÏ·Á ÇÔÀÎ ÁÙÀ» ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¾Ë¸®¶ó
2:4 And you will be certain that I have sent this order to you, so that it might be my agreement with Levi, says the Lord of armies.
2:4 And all of you shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, says the LORD of hosts.

2:5 ·¹À§¿Í ¼¼¿î ³ªÀÇ ¾ð¾àÀº »ý¸í°ú Æò°­ÀÇ ¾ð¾àÀÌ¶ó ³»°¡ ÀÌ°ÍÀ¸·Î ±×¿¡°Ô ÁØ °ÍÀº ±×·Î °æ¿ÜÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ·Á ÇÔÀ̶ó ±×°¡ ³ª¸¦ °æ¿ÜÇÏ°í ³» À̸§À» µÎ·Á¿öÇÏ¿´À¸¸ç
2:5 My agreement with him was on my side life and peace, and I gave them to him; on his side fear, and he had fear of me and gave honour to my name.
2:5 My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.

2:6 ±× ÀÔ¿¡´Â Áø¸®ÀÇ ¹ýÀÌ ÀÖ¾ú°í ±× ÀÔ¼ú¿¡´Â ºÒÀÇÇÔÀÌ ¾ø¾úÀ¸¸ç ±×°¡ È­Æò°ú Á¤Á÷ÇÑ Áß¿¡¼­ ³ª¿Í µ¿ÇàÇÏ¸ç ¸¹Àº »ç¶÷À» µ¹ÀÌÄÑ Á˾ǿ¡¼­ ¶°³ª°Ô ÇÏ¿´´À´Ï¶ó
2:6 True teaching was in his mouth, and no evil was seen on his lips: he was walking with me in peace and righteousness, turning numbers of people away from evil-doing.
2:6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.

2:7 ´ëÀú Á¦»çÀåÀÇ ÀÔ¼úÀº Áö½ÄÀ» ÁöÄÑ¾ß ÇÏ°Ú°í »ç¶÷µéÀÌ ±× ÀÔ¿¡¼­ À²¹ýÀ» ±¸ÇÏ°Ô µÇ¾î¾ß ÇÒ °ÍÀÌ´Ï Á¦»çÀåÀº ¸¸±ºÀÇ ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ »çÀÚ°¡ µÊÀ̾î´Ã
2:7 For it is right for the priest's lips to keep knowledge, and for men to be waiting for the law from his mouth: for he is the servant sent from the Lord of armies.
2:7 For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

2:8 ³ÊÈñ´Â Á¤µµ¿¡¼­ ¶°³ª ¸¹Àº »ç¶÷À¸·Î À²¹ý¿¡ °ÅÄ¡°Ô Çϵµ´Ù ³ª ¸¸±ºÀÇ ¿©È£¿Í°¡ À̸£³ë´Ï ³ÊÈñ°¡ ·¹À§ÀÇ ¾ð¾àÀ» ÆÄÇÏ¿´´À´Ï¶ó
2:8 But you are turned out of the way; you have made the law hard for numbers of people; you have made the agreement of Levi of no value, says the Lord of armies.
2:8 But all of you are departed out of the way; all of you have caused many to stumble at the law; all of you have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the LORD of hosts.

2:9 ³ÊÈñ°¡ ³» µµ¸¦ ÁöÅ°Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ°í À²¹ýÀ» ÇàÇÒ ¶§¿¡ »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô Æíº®µÇÀÌ ÇÏ¿´À¸¹Ç·Î ³ªµµ ³ÊÈñ·Î ¸ðµç ¹é¼º ¾Õ¿¡ ¸ê½Ã¿Í õ´ë¸¦ ´çÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ¿´´À´Ï¶ó ÇϽô϶ó
2:9 And so I have taken away your honour and made you low before all the people, even as you have not kept my ways, and have given no thought to me in using the law.
2:9 Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as all of you have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law.

2:10 ¡Û ¿ì¸®´Â ÇÑ ¾Æ¹öÁö¸¦ °¡ÁöÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿´´À³Ä ÇÑ Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ÁöÀ¸½Å ¹Ù°¡ ¾Æ´Ï³Ä ¾îÂîÇÏ¿© ¿ì¸® °¢ »ç¶÷ÀÌ ÀÚ±â ÇüÁ¦¿¡°Ô ±Ë»ç¸¦ ÇàÇÏ¿© ¿ì¸® ¿­Á¶ÀÇ ¾ð¾àÀ» ¿åµÇ°Ô ÇÏ´À³Ä
2:10 Have we not all one father? has not one God made us? why are we, every one of us, acting falsely to his brother, putting shame on the agreement of our fathers?
2:10 Have we not all one father? has not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?

2:11 À¯´Ù´Â ±Ë»ç¸¦ ÇàÇÏ¿´°í À̽º¶ó¿¤°ú ¿¹·ç»ì·½ Áß¿¡¼­´Â °¡ÁõÇÑ ÀÏÀ» ÇàÇÏ¿´À¸¸ç À¯´Ù´Â ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ »ç¶ûÇϽô ±× ¼º°áÀ» ¿åµÇ°Ô ÇÏ¿© ÀÌ¹æ ½ÅÀÇ µþ°ú °áÈ¥ÇÏ¿´À¸´Ï
2:11 Judah has been acting falsely, and a disgusting thing has been done in Jerusalem; for Judah has made unclean the holy place of the Lord which is dear to him, and has taken as his wife the daughter of a strange god.
2:11 Judah has dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and has married the daughter of a strange god.

2:12 ÀÌ ÀÏÀ» ÇàÇÏ´Â »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô ¼ÓÇÑ ÀÚ´Â ±ú´Â ÀÚ³ª ÀÀ´äÇÏ´Â ÀÚ´Â ¹°·ÐÀÌ¿ä ¸¸±ºÀÇ ¿©È£¿Í²² Á¦»ç¸¦ µå¸®´Â ÀÚµµ ¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ¾ß°öÀÇ À帷 °¡¿îµ¥¼­ ²÷¾î ¹ö¸®½Ã¸®¶ó
2:12 The Lord will have the man who does this cut off root and branch out of the tents of Jacob, and him who makes an offering to the Lord of armies.
2:12 The LORD will cut off the man that does this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offers an offering unto the LORD of hosts.

2:13 ³ÊÈñ°¡ ÀÌ·± Àϵµ ÇàÇϳª´Ï °ð ´«¹°°ú ¿ïÀ½°ú ź½ÄÀ¸·Î ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ ´ÜÀ» °¡¸®¿ì°Ô Çϵµ´Ù ±×·¯¹Ç·Î ¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ´Ù½Ã´Â ³ÊÈñÀÇ Çå¹°À» µ¹¾Æº¸Áöµµ ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ½Ã¸ç ±×°ÍÀ» ³ÊÈñ ¼Õ¿¡¼­ ±â²¨ÀÌ ¹ÞÁöµµ ¾Æ´ÏÇϽðŴÃ
2:13 And this again you do: covering the altar of the Lord with weeping and with grief, so that he gives no more thought to the offering, and does not take it with pleasure from your hand.
2:13 And this have all of you done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regards not the offering any more, or receives it with good will at your hand.

2:14 But you say, For what reason? Because the Lord has been a witness between you and the wife of your early years, to whom you have been untrue, though she is your friend and the wife to whom you have given your word.
2:14 Yet all of you say, Wherefore? Because the LORD has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously: yet is she your companion, and the wife of your covenant.

2:15 ... So give thought to your spirit, and let no one be false to the wife of his early years.
2:15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

2:16 For I am against the putting away of a wife, says the Lord, the God of Israel, and against him who is clothed with violent acts, says the Lord of armies: so give thought to your spirit and do not be false in your acts.
2:16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, says that he hates putting away: for one covers violence with his garment, says the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that all of you deal not treacherously.

2:17 You have made the Lord tired with your words. And still you say, How have we made him tired? By your saying, Everyone who does evil is good in the eyes of the Lord, and he has delight in them; or, Where is God the judge?
2:17 All of you have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet all of you say, Wherein have we wearied him? When all of you say, Every one that does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delights in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?

3:1 See, I am sending my servant, and he will make ready the way before me; and the Lord, whom you are looking for, will suddenly come to his Temple; and the angel of the agreement, in whom you have delight, see, he is coming, says the Lord of armies.
3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the LORD, whom all of you seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom all of you delight in: behold, he shall come, says the LORD of hosts.

3:2 But by whom may the day of his coming be faced? and who may keep his place when he is seen? for he is like the metal-tester's fire and the cleaner's soap.
3:2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appears? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:

3:3 He will take his seat, testing and cleaning the sons of Levi, burning away the evil from them as from gold and silver; so that they may make offerings to the Lord in righteousness.
3:3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

3:4 Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the Lord, as in days gone by, and as in past years.
3:4 Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years.

3:5 And I will come near to you for judging; I will quickly be a witness against the wonder-workers, against those who have been untrue in married life, against those who take false oaths; against those who keep back from the servant his payment, and who are hard on the widow and the child without a father, who do not give his rights to the man from a strange country, and have no fear of me, says the Lord of armies.
3:5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the worker in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, says the LORD of hosts.

3:6 For I am the Lord, I am unchanged; and so you, O sons of Jacob, have not been cut off.
3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore all of you sons of Jacob are not consumed.

3:7 From the days of your fathers you have been turned away from my rules and have not kept them. Come back to me, and I will come back to you, says the Lord of armies. But you say, How are we to come back?
3:7 Even from the days of your fathers all of you are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, says the LORD of hosts. But all of you said, Wherein shall we return?

3:8 Will a man keep back from God what is right? But you have kept back what is mine. But you say, What have we kept back from you? Tenths and offerings.
3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet all of you have robbed me. But all of you say, Wherein have we robbed you? In tithes and offerings.

3:9 You are cursed with a curse; for you have kept back from me what is mine, even all this nation.
3:9 All of you are cursed with a curse: for all of you have robbed me, even this whole nation.

3:10 Let your tenths come into the store-house so that there may be food in my house, and put me to the test by doing so, says the Lord of armies, and see if I do not make the windows of heaven open and send down such a blessing on you that there is no room for it.
3:10 Bring all of you all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in mine house, and prove me now herewith, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

3:11 And on your account I will keep back the locusts from wasting the fruits of your land; and the fruit of your vine will not be dropped on the field before its time, says the Lord of armies
3:11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, says the LORD of hosts.

3:12 And you will be named happy by all nations: for you will be a land of delight, says the Lord of armies.
3:12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for all of you shall be a delightsome land, says the LORD of hosts.

3:13 Your words have been strong against me, says the Lord. And still you say, What have we said against you?
3:13 Your words have been stout against me, says the LORD. Yet all of you say, What have we spoken so much against you?

3:14 You have said, It is no use worshipping God: what profit have we had from keeping his orders, and going in clothing of sorrow before the Lord of armies?
3:14 All of you have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?

3:15 And now to us the men of pride seem happy; yes, the evil-doers are doing well; they put God to the test and are safe.
3:15 And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.

3:16 Then those in whom was the fear of the Lord had talk together: and the Lord gave ear, and it was recorded in a book to be kept in mind before him, for those who had the fear of the Lord and gave thought to his name.
3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spoke often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

3:17 And they will be mine, says the Lord, in the day when I make them my special property; and I will have mercy on them as a man has mercy on his son who is his servant.
3:17 And they shall be mine, says the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spares his own son that serves him.

3:18 Then you will again see how the upright man is different from the sinner, and the servant of God from him who is not.
3:18 Then shall all of you return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serves God and him that serves him not.

4:1 For see, the day is coming, it is burning like an oven; all the men of pride and all who do evil will be dry stems of grass: and in the day which is coming they will be burned up, says the Lord of armies, till they have not a root or a branch.
4:1 For, behold, the day comes, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that comes shall burn them up, says the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

4:2 But to you who give worship to my name, the sun of righteousness will come up with new life in its wings; and you will go out, playing like young oxen full of food.
4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and all of you shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

4:3 And the evil-doers will be crushed under you, they will be dust under your feet, in the day when I do my work, says the Lord of armies.
4:3 And all of you shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, says the LORD of hosts.

4:4 Keep in mind the law of Moses, my servant, which I gave him in Horeb for all Israel, even the rules and the decisions.
4:4 Remember all of you the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

4:5 See, I am sending you Elijah the prophet before the day of the Lord comes, that great day, greatly to be feared.
4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

4:6 And by him the hearts of fathers will be turned to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers; for fear that I may come and put the earth under a curse.
4:6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.
