1:1 The history of Nehemiah, the son of Hacaliah. Now it came about, in the month Chislev, in the twentieth year, when I was in Shushan, the king's town,
1:1 The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,

1:2 That Hanani, one of my brothers, came with certain men from Judah; and in answer to my request for news of the Jews who had been prisoners and had got away, and of Jerusalem,
1:2 That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.

1:3 They said to me, The small band of Jews now living there in the land are in great trouble and shame: the wall of Jerusalem has been broken down, and its doorways burned with fire.
1:3 And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.

1:4 Then, after hearing these words, for some days I gave myself up to weeping and sorrow, seated on the earth; and taking no food I made prayer to the God of heaven,
1:4 And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,

1:5 °¡·ÎµÇ ÇÏ´ÃÀÇ Çϳª´Ô ¿©È£¿Í Å©°í µÎ·Á¿ì½Å Çϳª´ÔÀÌ¿© ÁÖ¸¦ »ç¶ûÇÏ°í ÁÖÀÇ °è¸íÀ» ÁöÅ°´Â ÀÚ¿¡°Ô ¾ð¾àÀ» ÁöÅ°½Ã¸ç ±àÈáÀ» º£Çª½Ã´Â ÁÖ¿© °£±¸ÇϳªÀÌ´Ù
1:5 And said, O Lord, the God of heaven, the great God, greatly to be feared, keeping faith and mercy with those who have love for him and are true to his laws:
1:5 And said, I plead to you, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keeps covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:

1:6 ÀÌÁ¦ Á¾ÀÌ ÁÖÀÇ Á¾ À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼ÕÀ» À§ÇÏ¿© Á־߷Π±âµµÇÏ¿À¸ç À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ ÁÖ ¾Õ¿¡ ¹üÁËÇÔÀ» ÀÚº¹ÇÏ¿À´Ï ÁÖ´Â ±Í¸¦ ±â¿ïÀÌ½Ã¸ç ´«À» ¿©½Ã»ç Á¾ÀÇ ±âµµ¸¦ µéÀ¸½Ã¿É¼Ò¼­ ³ª¿Í ³ªÀÇ ¾Æºñ ÁýÀÌ ¹üÁËÇÏ¿©
1:6 Let your ear now take note and let your eyes be open, so that you may give ear to the prayer of your servant, which I make before you at this time, day and night, for the children of Israel, your servants, while I put before you the sins of the children of Israel, which we have done against you: truly, I and my father's people are sinners.
1:6 Let yours ear now be attentive, and yours eyes open, that you may hear the prayer of your servant, which I pray before you now, day and night, for the children of Israel your servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against you: both I and my father's house have sinned.

1:7 ÁÖ¸¦ ÇâÇÏ¿© ½ÉÈ÷ ¾ÇÀ» ÇàÇÏ¿© ÁÖÀÇ Á¾ ¸ð¼¼¿¡°Ô ÁÖ²²¼­ ¸íÇϽŠ°è¸í°ú À²·Ê¿Í ±Ô·Ê¸¦ ÁöÅ°Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿´³ªÀÌ´Ù
1:7 We have done great wrong against you, and have not kept the orders, the rules, and the decisions, which you gave to your servant Moses.
1:7 We have dealt very corruptly against you, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which you commandedst your servant Moses.

1:8 Keep in mind, O Lord, the order you gave your servant Moses, saying, If you do wrong I will send you wandering among the peoples:
1:8 Remember, I plead to you, the word that you commandedst your servant Moses, saying, If all of you transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:

1:9 But if you come back to me and keep my orders and do them, even if those of you who have been forced out are living in the farthest parts of heaven, I will get them from there, and take them back to the place marked out by me for the resting-place of my name.
1:9 But if all of you turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.

1:10 Now these are your servants and your people, whom you have made yours by your great power and by your strong hand.

1:11 O Lord, let your ear take note of the prayer of your servant, and of the prayers of your servants, who take delight in worshipping your name: give help, O Lord, to your servant this day, and let him have mercy in the eyes of this man. (Now I was the king's wine-servant.)
1:11 O LORD, I plead to you, let now yours ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants, who desire to fear your name: and prosper, I pray you, your servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king's cupbearer.

2:1 ¾Æ´Ú»ç½º´Ù ¿Õ ÀÌ½Ê ³â ´Ï»ê¿ù¿¡ ¿ÕÀÇ ¾Õ¿¡ ¼úÀÌ ÀÖ±â·Î ³»°¡ µé¾î ¿Õ¿¡°Ô µå·È´Âµ¥ ÀÌÀü¿¡´Â ³»°¡ ¿ÕÀÇ ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ¼ö»öÀÌ ¾ø¾ú´õ´Ï
2:1 And it came about in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, when wine was before him, that I took up the wine and gave it to the king. Now I had never before been sad when the king was present.
2:1 And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been in time past sad in his presence.

2:2 ¿ÕÀÌ ³»°Ô À̸£½ÃµÇ ³×°¡ º´ÀÌ ¾ø°Å´Ã ¾îÂîÇÏ¿© ¾ó±¼¿¡ ¼ö»öÀÌ ÀÖ´À³Ä ÀÌ´Â ÇÊ¿¬ ³× ¸¶À½¿¡ ±Ù½ÉÀÌ ÀÖÀ½À̷δ٠±×¶§¿¡ ³»°¡ Å©°Ô µÎ·Á¿öÇÏ¿©
2:2 And the king said to me, Why is your face sad, seeing that you are not ill? this is nothing but sorrow of heart. Then I was full of fear;
2:2 Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is your countenance sad, seeing you are not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid,

2:3 And said to the king, May the king be living for ever: is it not natural for my face to be sad, when the town, the place where the bodies of my fathers are at rest, has been made waste and its doorways burned with fire?
2:3 And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchers, lies waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?

2:4 ¿ÕÀÌ ³»°Ô À̸£½ÃµÇ ±×·¯¸é ³×°¡ ¹«¾ùÀ» ¿øÇÏ´À³Ä ÇϽñâ·Î ³»°¡ °ð ÇÏ´ÃÀÇ Çϳª´Ô²² ¹¬µµÇÏ°í
2:4 Then the king said to me, What is your desire? So I made prayer to the God of heaven.
2:4 Then the king said unto me, For what do you make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.

2:5 ¿Õ¿¡°Ô °íÇ쵂 ¿ÕÀÌ ¸¸ÀÏ Áñ°ÜÇϽðí Á¾ÀÌ ¿ÕÀÇ ¸ñÀü¿¡¼­ ÀºÇý¸¦ ¾ò¾ú»ç¿À¸é ³ª¸¦ À¯´Ù ¶¥ ³ªÀÇ ¿­Á¶ÀÇ ¹¦½Ç ÀÖ´Â ¼ºÀ¾¿¡ º¸³»¾î ±× ¼ºÀ» Áß°ÇÇÏ°Ô ÇϿɼҼ­ ÇÏ¿´´Âµ¥
2:5 And I said to the king, If it is the king's pleasure, and if your servant has your approval, send me to Judah, to the town where the bodies of my fathers are at rest, so that I may take in hand the building of it.
2:5 And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if your servant have found favour in your sight, that you would send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' sepulchers, that I may build it.

2:6 ±×¶§¿¡ ¿ÕÈĵµ ¿ÕÀÇ °ç¿¡ ¾É¾Ò´õ¶ó ¿ÕÀÌ ³»°Ô À̸£½ÃµÇ ³×°¡ ¸î ³¯¿¡ ÇàÇÒ ±æÀÌ¸ç ¾î´À ¶§¿¡ µ¹¾Æ¿À°Ú´À³Ä ÇÏ°í ¿ÕÀÌ ³ª¸¦ º¸³»±â¸¦ Áñ°ÜÇϽñâ·Î ³»°¡ ±âÇÑÀ» Á¤ÇÏ°í
2:6 And the king said to me (the queen being seated by his side), How long will your journey take, and when will you come back? So the king was pleased to send me, and I gave him a fixed time.
2:6 And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall your journey be? and when will you return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.

2:7 ³»°¡ ¶Ç ¿Õ¿¡°Ô ¾Æ·ÚµÇ ¿ÕÀÌ ¸¸ÀÏ Áñ°ÜÇÏ½Ã°Åµç °­ ¼­Æí Ãѵ¶µé¿¡°Ô ³»¸®½Ã´Â Á¶¼­¸¦ ³»°Ô ÁÖ»ç ÀúÈñ·Î ³ª¸¦ ¿ë³³ÇÏ¿© À¯´Ù±îÁö Åë°úÇÏ°Ô ÇϽðí
2:7 Further, I said to the king, If it is the king's pleasure, let letters be given to me for the rulers across the river, so that they may let me go through till I come to Judah;
2:7 Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the river, that they may convey me over till I come into Judah;

2:8 ¶Ç ¿ÕÀÇ »ï¸² °¨µ¶ ¾Æ»ð¿¡°Ô Á¶¼­¸¦ ³»¸®»ç Àú·Î Àü¿¡ ¼ÓÇÑ ¿µ¹®ÀÇ ¹®°ú ¼º°û°ú ³ªÀÇ °ÅÇÒ ÁýÀ» À§ÇÏ¿© µéº¸ Àç¸ñÀ» ÁÖ°Ô ÇϿɼҼ­ ÇϸŠ³» Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ¼±ÇÑ ¼ÕÀÌ ³ª¸¦ µµ¿ì½ÉÀ¸·Î ¿ÕÀÌ Çã¶ôÇÏ°í
2:8 And a letter to Asaph, the keeper of the king's park, so that he may give me wood to make boards for the doors of the tower of the house, and for the wall of the town, and for the house which is to be mine. And the king gave me this, for the hand of my God was on me.
2:8 And a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which appertained to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.

2:9 ±º´ë Àå°ü°ú ¸¶º´À» º¸³»¾î ³ª¿Í ÇÔ²² ÇÏ°Ô ÇϽñâ·Î ³»°¡ °­ ¼­Æí¿¡ ÀÖ´Â Ãѵ¶µé¿¡°Ô À̸£·¯ ¿ÕÀÇ Á¶¼­¸¦ ÀüÇÏ¿´´õ´Ï
2:9 Then I came to the rulers of the lands across the river and gave them the king's letters. Now the king had sent with me captains of the army and horsemen.
2:9 Then I came to the governors beyond the river, and gave them the king's letters. Now the king had sent captains of the army and horsemen with me.

2:10 And Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, hearing of it, were greatly troubled because a man had come to the help of the children of Israel.
2:10 When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.

2:11 So I came to Jerusalem and was there three days.

2:12 And in the night I got up, taking with me a small band of men; I said nothing to any man of what God had put into my heart to do for Jerusalem: and I had no beast with me but the one on which I was seated.
2:12 And I arose in the night, I and some few men with me; neither told I any man what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem: neither was there any beast with me, save the beast that I rode upon.

2:13 And I went out by night, through the doorway of the valley, and past the dragon's water-spring as far as the place where waste material was put, viewing the walls of Jerusalem which were broken down, and the doorways which had been burned with fire.
2:13 And I went out by night by the gate of the valley, even before the dragon well, and to the dung port, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and the gates thereof were consumed with fire.

2:14 Then I went on to the door of the fountain and to the king's pool: but there was no room for my beast to get through.

2:15 Then in the night, I went up by the stream, viewing the wall; then turning back, I went in by the door in the valley, and so came back.
2:15 Then went I up in the night by the brook, and viewed the wall, and turned back, and entered by the gate of the valley, and so returned.

2:16 ¹æ¹éµéÀº ³»°¡ ¾îµð °¬¾úÀ¸¸ç ¹«¾ùÀ» ÇÏ¿´´ÂÁö ¾ËÁö ¸øÇÏ¿´°í ³ªµµ ±× ÀÏÀ» À¯´Ù »ç¶÷µé¿¡°Ô³ª Á¦»çÀåµé¿¡°Ô³ª ±ÍÀε鿡°Ô³ª ¹æ¹éµé¿¡°Ô³ª ±× ¿Ü¿¡ ÀÏÇÏ´Â Àڵ鿡°Ô °íÇÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ´Ù°¡
2:16 And the chiefs had no knowledge of where I had been or what I was doing; and I had not then said anything to the Jews or to the priests or the great ones or the chiefs or the rest of those who were doing the work.
2:16 And the rulers knew not where I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest that did the work.

2:17 ÈÄ¿¡ ÀúÈñ¿¡°Ô À̸£±â¸¦ ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ´çÇÑ °ï°æÀº ³ÊÈñµµ ¸ñµµÇÏ´Â ¹Ù¶ó ¿¹·ç»ì·½ÀÌ È²¹«ÇÏ°í ¼º¹®ÀÌ ¼ÒÈ­µÇ¾úÀ¸´Ï ÀÚ ¿¹·ç»ì·½ ¼ºÀ» Áß°ÇÇÏ¿© ´Ù½Ã ¼öÄ¡¸¦ ¹ÞÁö ¸»ÀÚ ÇÏ°í
2:17 Then I said to them, You see what a bad condition we are in; how Jerusalem is a waste, and its doorways burned with fire: come, let us get to work, building up the wall of Jerusalem, so that we may no longer be put to shame.
2:17 Then said I unto them, All of you see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.

2:18 ¶Ç ÀúÈñ¿¡°Ô Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ¼±ÇÑ ¼ÕÀÌ ³ª¸¦ µµ¿ì½Å ÀÏ°ú ¿ÕÀÌ ³»°Ô À̸¥ ¸»¾¸À» °íÇÏ¿´´õ´Ï ÀúÈñÀÇ ¸»ÀÌ ÀϾ °ÇÃàÇÏÀÚ ÇÏ°í ¸ðµÎ ÈûÀ» ³»¾î ÀÌ ¼±ÇÑ ÀÏÀ» ÇÏ·Á ÇϸÅ
2:18 Then I gave them an account of how the hand of my God was on me, helping me; and of the king's words which he had said to me. And they said, Let us get to work on the building. So they made their hands strong for the good work.
2:18 Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king's words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.

2:19 But Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, hearing of it, made sport of us, laughing at us and saying, What are you doing? will you go against the king?
2:19 But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that all of you do? will all of you rebel against the king?

2:20 Then answering them I said, The God of heaven, he will be our help; so we his servants will go on with our building: but you have no part or right or any name in Jerusalem.
2:20 Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but all of you have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.

3:1 Then Eliashib, the chief priest, got up with his brothers the priests, and took in hand the building of the sheep doorway; they made it holy and put its doors in position; as far as the tower of Hammeah they made it holy, even to the tower of Hananel.
3:1 Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they built the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel.

3:2 And by his side the men of Jericho were building. And after them, Zaccur, the son of Imri.
3:2 And next unto him built the men of Jericho. And next to them built Zaccur the son of Imri.

3:3 ¾î¹®Àº ÇϽº³ª¾ÆÀÇ ÀÚ¼ÕµéÀÌ °ÇÃàÇÏ¿© ±× µéº¸¸¦ ¾ñ°í ¹®Â¦À» ´Þ°í ÀÚ¹°¼è¿Í ºøÀåÀ» °®Ãß¾ú°í
3:3 The sons of Hassenaah were the builders of the fish doorway; they put its boards in place and put up its doors, with their locks and rods.
3:3 But the fish gate did the sons of Hassenaah build, who also laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.

3:4 By their side Meremoth, the son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, was making good the walls. Then Meshullam, the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabel; and by him, Zadok, the son of Baana.
3:4 And next unto them repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah, the son of Koz. And next unto them repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabeel. And next unto them repaired Zadok the son of Baana.

3:5 Near them, the Tekoites were at work; but their chiefs did not put their necks to the work of their Lord.
3:5 And next unto them the Tekoites repaired; but their nobles put not their necks to the work of their LORD.

3:6 Joiada, the son of Paseah, and Meshullam, the son of Besodeiah, made good the old doorway; they put its boards in place and put up its doors, with their locks and rods.
3:6 Moreover the old gate repaired Jehoiada the son of Paseah, and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah; they laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, and the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.

3:7 By their side were working Melatiah the Gibeonite and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon and of Mizpah from the seat of the ruler across the river.
3:7 And next unto them repaired Melatiah the Gibeonite, and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon, and of Mizpah, unto the throne of the governor on this side the river.

3:8 ±× ´ÙÀ½Àº ±ÝÀå»ö ÇÒÇؾßÀÇ ¾Æµé ¿ô½Ã¿¤ µîÀÌ Áß¼öÇÏ¿´°í ±× ´ÙÀ½Àº ÇâÇ° Àå»ç Çϳª³Ä µîÀÌ Áß¼öÇ쵂 ÀúÈñ°¡ ¿¹·ç»ì·½ ³ÐÀº ¼ºº®±îÁö ÇÏ¿´°í
3:8 Near them was working Uzziel, the son of Harhaiah, the gold-worker. And by him was Hananiah, one of the perfume-makers, building up Jerusalem as far as the wide wall.
3:8 Next unto him repaired Uzziel the son of Harhaiah, of the goldsmiths. Next unto him also repaired Hananiah the son of one of the apothecaries, and they fortified Jerusalem unto the broad wall.

3:9 Near them was working Rephaiah, the son of Hur, the ruler of half Jerusalem.
3:9 And next unto them repaired Rephaiah the son of Hur, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem.

3:10 By his side was Jedaiah, the son of Harumaph, opposite his house. And by him was Hattush, the son of Hashabneiah.
3:10 And next unto them repaired Jedaiah the son of Harumaph, even opposite to his house. And next unto him repaired Hattush the son of Hashabniah.

3:11 Malchijah, the son of Harim, and Hasshub, the son of Pahath-moab, were working on another part, and the tower of the ovens.
3:11 Malchijah the son of Harim, and Hashub the son of Pahathmoab, repaired the other piece, and the tower of the furnaces.

3:12 Near them was Shallum, the son of Hallohesh, the ruler of half Jerusalem, with his daughters.
3:12 And next unto him repaired Shallum the son of Halohesh, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem, he and his daughters.

3:13 Hanun and the people of Zanoah were working on the doorway of the valley; they put it up and put up its doors, with their locks and rods, and a thousand cubits of wall as far as the doorway where the waste material was placed.

3:14 And Malchijah, the son of Rechab, the ruler of the division of Beth-haccherem, made good the doorway of the waste, building it up and putting up its doors, with their locks and rods.
3:14 But the dung gate repaired Malchiah the son of Rechab, the ruler of part of Bethhaccerem; he built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.

3:15 And Shallun, the son of Col-hozeh, the ruler of the division of Mizpah, made good the doorway of the fountain, building it up and covering it and putting up its doors, with their locks and rods, with the wall of the pool of Shelah by the king's garden, as far as the steps which go down from the town of David.
3:15 But the gate of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of Colhozeh, the ruler of part of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall of the pool of Siloah by the king's garden, and unto the stairs that go down from the city of David.

3:16 By his side was working Nehemiah, the son of Azbuk, ruler of half the division of Beth-zur, as far as the place opposite the last resting-places of David's family, and the pool which was made and the house of the men of war.
3:16 After him repaired Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Bethzur, unto the place opposite to the sepulchers of David, and to the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty.

3:17 Then came the Levites, Rehum, the son of Bani. By his side was working Hashabiah, ruler of half the division of Keilah, for his division.
3:17 After him repaired the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani. Next unto him repaired Hashabiah, the ruler of the half part of Keilah, in his part.

3:19 And by his side was working Ezer, the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, making good another part opposite the way up to the store of arms at the turning of the wall.
3:19 And next to him repaired Ezer the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, another piece opposite to the going up to the armoury at the turning of the wall.

3:20 After him Baruch, the son of Zabbai, was hard at work on another part, from the turning of the wall to the door of the house of Eliashib, the chief priest.
3:20 After him Baruch the son of Zabbai earnestly repaired the other piece, from the turning of the wall unto the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest.

3:21 After him Meremoth, the son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, was working on another part, from the door of the house of Eliashib as far as the end of his house.

3:23 After them came Benjamin and Hasshub, opposite their house. After them Azariah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ananiah, made good the wall by the house where he himself was living.

3:25 Palal, the son of Uzai, made good the wall opposite the angle and the tower which comes out from the higher part of the king's house, by the open space of the watch. After him was Pedaiah, the son of Parosh.

3:31 After him Malchijah, one of the gold-workers to the Nethinim and the traders, made good the wall opposite the doorway of Hammiphkad and as far as the way up to the angle.
3:31 After him repaired Malchiah the goldsmith's son unto the place of the Nethinims, and of the merchants, opposite to the gate Miphkad, and to the going up of the corner.

3:32 And between the way up to the angle and the sheep door, the gold-workers and the traders made good the wall.

4:1 Now, Sanballat, hearing that we were building the wall, was very angry, and in his wrath made sport of the Jews.
4:1 But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we built the wall, he was angry, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.

4:2 And in the hearing of his countrymen and the army of Samaria he said, What are these feeble Jews doing? will they make themselves strong? will they make offerings? will they get the work done in a day? will they make the stones which have been burned come again out of the dust?
4:2 And he spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?

4:3 Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Such is their building that if a fox goes up it, their stone wall will be broken down.
4:3 Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.

4:4 Give ear, O our God, for we are looked down on: let their words of shame be turned back on themselves, and let them be given up to wasting in a land where they are prisoners:
4:4 Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity:

4:5 Let not their wrongdoing be covered or their sin washed away from before you: for they have made you angry before the builders.
4:5 And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before you: for they have provoked you to anger before the builders.

4:6 ÀÌ¿¡ ¿ì¸®°¡ ¼ºÀ» °ÇÃàÇÏ¿© ÀüºÎ°¡ ¿¬¶ôµÇ°í °í°¡ Àý¹Ý¿¡ ¹ÌÃÆÀ¸´Ï ÀÌ´Â ¹é¼ºÀÌ ¸¶À½ µé¿© ¿ª»çÇÏ¿´À½À̴϶ó
4:6 So we went on building the wall; and all the wall was joined together half-way up: for the people were working hard.
4:6 So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.

4:7 But when it came to the ears of Sanballat and Tobiah and the Arabians and the Ammonites and the Ashdodites, that the building of the walls of Jerusalem was going forward and the broken places were being made good, they were full of wrath;
4:7 But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very angry,

4:8 ´Ù ÇÔ²² ²ÒÇϱ⸦ ¿¹·ç»ì·½À¸·Î °¡¼­ Ãļ­ ¿ä¶õÇÏ°Ô ÇÏÀÚ Çϱâ·Î
4:8 And they made designs, all of them together, to come and make an attack on Jerusalem, causing trouble there.
4:8 And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it.

4:9 But we made our prayer to God, and had men on watch against them day and night because of them.
4:9 Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.

4:10 And Judah said, The strength of the workmen is giving way, and there is much waste material; it is impossible for us to put up the wall.
4:10 And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.

4:11 And those who were against us said, Without their knowledge and without their seeing us, we will come among them and put them to death, causing the work to come to a stop.
4:11 And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.

4:12 ±× ´ëÀûÀÇ ±Ùó¿¡ °ÅÇÏ´Â À¯´Ù »ç¶÷µéµµ ±× °¢Ã³¿¡¼­ ¿Í¼­ ¿­ ¹øÀ̳ª ¿ì¸®¿¡°Ô °íÇϱ⸦ ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¿ì¸®¿¡°Ô·Î ¿Í¾ß Çϸ®¶ó Çϱâ·Î
4:12 And it came about that when the Jews who were living near them came, they said to us ten times, From all directions they are coming against us.
4:12 And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times, From all places whence all of you shall return unto us they will be upon you.

4:13 ³»°¡ ¼º µÚ ³·°í ³ÐÀº °÷¿¡ ¹é¼ºÀ¸·Î ±× Á¾Á·À» µû¶ó Ä®°ú â°ú È°À» °¡Áö°í ¼­°Ô ÇÏ°í
4:13 So in the lowest part of the space at the back of the walls, in the open places, I put the people by families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
4:13 Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.

4:14 And after looking, I got up and said to the great ones and to the chiefs and to the rest of the people, Have no fear of them: keep in mind the Lord who is great and greatly to be feared, and take up arms for your brothers, your sons, and your daughters, your wives and your houses.
4:14 And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not all of you afraid of them: remember the LORD, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.

4:15 ¡Û ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ´ëÀûÀÌ ÀÚ±âÀÇ ¶æÀ» ¿ì¸®°¡ ¾Ë¾Ò´Ù ÇÔÀ» µéÀ¸´Ï¶ó Çϳª´ÔÀÌ ÀúÈñÀÇ ²Ò¸¦ ÆóÇϼÌÀ¸¹Ç·Î ¿ì¸®°¡ ´Ù ¼º¿¡ µ¹¾Æ¿Í¼­ °¢°¢ ¿ª»çÇÏ¿´´Âµ¥
4:15 And when it came to the ears of those who were against us, that we had knowledge of their designs and that God had made their purpose come to nothing, we all went back to the wall, everyone to his work
4:15 And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nothing, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.

4:16 ±×¶§·ÎºÎÅÍ ³» Á¾ÀÚÀÇ Àý¹ÝÀº ¿ª»çÇÏ°í Àý¹ÝÀº °©¿ÊÀ» ÀÔ°í â°ú ¹æÆÐ¿Í È°À» °¡Á³°í ¹ÎÀåÀº À¯´Ù ¿Â Á·¼ÓÀÇ µÚ¿¡ ÀÖ¾úÀ¸¸ç
4:16 And from that time, half of my servants were doing their part of the work, and half kept the spears and body-covers and the bows and the metal war-dresses; and the chiefs were at the back of the men of Judah.
4:16 And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.

4:17 ¼ºÀ» °ÇÃàÇÏ´Â ÀÚ¿Í ´ãºÎÇÏ´Â ÀÚ´Â ´Ù °¢°¢ ÇÑ ¼ÕÀ¸·Î ÀÏÀ» Çϸç ÇÑ ¼Õ¿¡´Â º´±â¸¦ Àâ¾Ò´Âµ¥
4:17 Those who were building the wall and those who were moving material did their part, everyone working with one hand, with his spear in the other;
4:17 They which built on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon.

4:18 °ÇÃàÇÏ´Â ÀÚ´Â °¢°¢ Ä®À» Â÷°í °ÇÃàÇÏ¸ç ³ªÆÈ ºÎ´Â ÀÚ´Â ³» °ç¿¡ ¼¹¾ú´À´Ï¶ó
4:18 Every builder was working with his sword at his side. And by my side was a man for sounding the horn.
4:18 For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so built. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me.

4:19 ³»°¡ ±ÍÀεé°ú ¹ÎÀåµé°ú ³²Àº ¹é¼º¿¡°Ô À̸£±â¸¦ ÀÌ ¿ª»ç´Â Å©°í ³ÐÀ¸¹Ç·Î ¿ì¸®°¡ ¼º¿¡¼­ ³ª´µ¾î »ó°Å°¡ ¸ÕÁï
4:19 And I said to the great ones and the chiefs and the rest of the people, The work is great and widely spaced and we are far away from one another on the wall:
4:19 And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another.

4:20 ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¹«·Ð ¾îµð¼­µçÁö ³ªÆÈ ¼Ò¸®¸¦ µè°Åµç ±×¸®·Î ¸ð¿©¼­ ¿ì¸®¿¡°Ô·Î ³ª¾Æ¿À¶ó ¿ì¸® Çϳª´ÔÀÌ ¿ì¸®¸¦ À§ÇÏ¿© ½Î¿ì½Ã¸®¶ó ÇÏ¿´´À´Ï¶ó
4:20 Wherever you may be when the horn is sounded, come here to us; our God will be fighting for us.
4:20 In what place therefore all of you hear the sound of the trumpet, resort all of you thither unto us: our God shall fight for us.

4:21 So we went on with the work: and half of them had spears in their hands from the dawn of the morning till the stars were seen.
4:21 So we laboured in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared.

4:22 ±×¶§¿¡ ³»°¡ ¶Ç ¹é¼º¿¡°Ô °íÇϱ⸦ »ç¶÷¸¶´Ù ±× Á¾ÀÚ¿Í ÇÔ²² ¿¹·ç»ì·½ ¾È¿¡¼­ ÀßÁö´Ï ¹ã¿¡´Â ¿ì¸®¸¦ À§ÇÏ¿© ÆļöÇÏ°Ú°í ³·¿¡´Â ¿ª»çÇϸ®¶ó ÇÏ°í
4:22 And at the same time I said to the people, Let everyone with his servant come inside Jerusalem for the night, so that at night they may keep watch for us, and go on working by day.
4:22 Likewise at the same time said I unto the people, Let every one with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and labour on the day.

4:23 So not one of us, I or my brothers or my servants or the watchmen who were with me, took off his clothing, everyone went armed to the water.
4:23 So neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard which followed me, none of us put off our clothes, saving that every one put them off for washing.

5:1 ¶§¿¡ ¹é¼ºÀÌ ±× ¾Æ³»¿Í ÇÔ²² Å©°Ô ºÎ¸£Â¢¾î ±× ÇüÁ¦ À¯´Ù »ç¶÷À» ¿ø¸ÁÇϴµ¥
5:1 Then there was a great outcry from the people and their wives against their countrymen the Jews.
5:1 And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.

5:2 ȤÀº ¸»Çϱ⸦ ¿ì¸®¿Í ¿ì¸® Àڳడ ¸¹À¸´Ï °î½ÄÀ» ¾ò¾î ¸Ô°í »ì¾Æ¾ß ÇÏ°Ú´Ù ÇÏ°í
5:2 For there were some who said, We, our sons and our daughters, are a great number: let us get grain, so that we may have food for our needs.
5:2 For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live.

5:3 ȤÀº ¸»Çϱ⸦ ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ¹ç°ú Æ÷µµ¿ø°ú ÁýÀÌ¶óµµ Àü´ç ÀâÈ÷°í ÀÌ Èä³âÀ» À§ÇÏ¿© °î½ÄÀ» ¾òÀÚ ÇÏ°í
5:3 And there were some who said, We are giving our fields and our vine-gardens and our houses for debt: let us get grain because we are in need.
5:3 Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.

5:4 ȤÀº ¸»Çϱ⸦ ¿ì¸®´Â ¹ç°ú Æ÷µµ¿øÀ¸·Î µ·À» ºú³»¾î ¼¼±ÝÀ» ¹ÙÃƵµ´Ù
5:4 And there were others who said, We have given up our fields and our vine-gardens to get money for the king's taxes.
5:4 There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.

5:5 ¿ì¸® À°Ã¼µµ ¿ì¸® ÇüÁ¦ÀÇ À°Ã¼¿Í °°°í ¿ì¸® Àڳ൵ ÀúÈñ ÀÚ³à °°°Å´Ã ÀÌÁ¦ ¿ì¸® Àڳฦ Á¾À¸·Î ÆĴµµ´Ù ¿ì¸® µþ Áß¿¡ ¹ú½á Á¾ µÈ ÀÚ°¡ ÀÖÀ¸³ª ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ¹ç°ú Æ÷µµ¿øÀÌ ÀÌ¹Ì ³²ÀÇ °ÍÀÌ µÇ¾úÀ¸´Ï ¼Ó·®ÇÒ ÈûÀÌ ¾øµµ´Ù
5:5 But our flesh is the same as the flesh of our countrymen, and our children as their children: and now we are giving our sons and daughters into the hands of others, to be their servants, and some of our daughters are servants even now: and we have no power to put a stop to it; for other men have our fields and our vine-gardens.
5:5 Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.

5:6 And on hearing their outcry and what they said I was very angry.
5:6 And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.

5:7 Á߽ɿ¡ °èȹÇÏ°í ±ÍÀΰú ¹ÎÀåÀ» ²Ù¢¾î À̸£±â¸¦ ³ÊÈñ°¡ °¢±â ÇüÁ¦¿¡°Ô Ã븮¸¦ Çϴµµ´Ù ÇÏ°í ´ëȸ¸¦ ¿­°í ÀúÈñ¸¦ Ãļ­
5:7 And after turning it over in my mind, I made a protest to the chiefs and the rulers, and said to them, Every one of you is taking interest from his countryman. And I got together a great meeting of protest.
5:7 Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, All of you exact interest, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them.

5:8 À̸£±â¸¦ ¿ì¸®´Â À̹æÀÎÀÇ ¼Õ¿¡ Æȸ° ¿ì¸® ÇüÁ¦ À¯´Ù »ç¶÷µéÀ» ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ÈûÀ» ´ÙÇÏ¿© ¼Ó·®ÇÏ¿´°Å´Ã ³ÊÈñ´Â ³ÊÈñ ÇüÁ¦¸¦ ÆÈ°íÀÚ ÇÏ´À³Ä ´õ±¸³ª ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ¼Õ¿¡ Æȸ®°Ô ÇÏ°Ú´À³Ä ÇϸŠÀúÈñ°¡ ÀáÀáÇÏ¿© ¸»ÀÌ ¾ø±â·Î
5:8 And I said to them, We have given whatever we were able to give, to make our brothers the Jews free, who were servants and prisoners of the nations: and would you now give up your brothers for a price, and are they to become our property? Then they said nothing, answering not a word.
5:8 And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will all of you even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer.

5:9 ³»°¡ ¶Ç À̸£±â¸¦ ³ÊÈñÀÇ ¼ÒÀ§°¡ ÁÁÁö ¸øÇϵµ´Ù ¿ì¸® ´ëÀû ÀÌ¹æ »ç¶÷ÀÇ ºñ¹æÀ» »ý°¢ÇÏ°í ¿ì¸® Çϳª´ÔÀ» °æ¿ÜÇÔ¿¡ ÇàÇÒ °ÍÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï³Ä
5:9 And I said, What you are doing is not good: is it not the more necessary for you to go in the fear of our God, because of the shame which the nations may put on us?
5:9 Also I said, It is not good that all of you do: ought all of you not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?

5:10 Even I and my servants have been taking interest for the money and the grain we have let them have. So now, let us give up this thing.
5:10 I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this interest.

5:11 Give back to them this very day their fields, their vine-gardens, their olive-gardens, and their houses, as well as a hundredth part of the money and the grain and the wine and the oil which you have taken from them.
5:11 Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their olive yards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that all of you exact of them.

5:12 Then they said, We will give them back, and take nothing for them; we will do as you say. Then I sent for the priests and made them take an oath that they would keep this agreement.
5:12 Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as you says. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.

5:13 And shaking out the folds of my robe, I said, So may God send out from his house and his work every man who does not keep this agreement; even so let him be sent out and made as nothing. And all the meeting of the people said, So be it, and gave praise to the Lord. And the people did as they had said.
5:13 Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performs not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.

5:14 Now from the time when I was made ruler of the people in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year till the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes the king, for twelve years, I and my servants have never taken the food which was the right of the ruler.
5:14 Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.

5:15 But earlier rulers who were before me made the people responsible for their upkeep, and took from them bread and wine at the rate of forty shekels of silver; and even their servants were lords over the people: but I did not do so, because of the fear of God.
5:15 But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.

5:16 And I kept on with the work of this wall, and we got no land for ourselves: and all my servants were helping with the work.
5:16 Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered thither unto the work.

5:17 And more than this, a hundred and fifty of the Jews and the rulers were guests at my table, in addition to those who came to us from the nations round about us.
5:17 Moreover there were at my table an hundred and fifty of the Jews and rulers, beside those that came unto us from among the heathen that are about us.

5:18 Now the food made ready for one day was one ox and six fat sheep, as well as fowls; and once in ten days a store of all sorts of wine: but all the same, I did not take the food to which the ruler had a right, because the people were crushed under a hard yoke.
5:18 Now that which was prepared for me daily was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this required not I the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.

5:19 Keep in mind, O my God, for my good, all I have done for this people.

6:1 »ê¹ß¶ù°ú µµºñ¾ß¿Í ¾Æ¶óºñ¾Æ »ç¶÷ °Ô¼À°ú ±× ³ª¸ÓÁö ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ´ëÀûÀÌ ³»°¡ ¼ºÀ» °ÇÃàÇÏ¿© ±× Åð¶ôÇÑ °÷À» ³²±âÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿´´Ù ÇÔÀ» µé¾ú´Âµ¥ ³»°¡ ¾ÆÁ÷ ¼º¹®¿¡ ¹®Â¦À» ´ÞÁö ¸øÇÑ ¶§¶ó
6:1 Now when word was given to Sanballat and Tobiah and to Geshem the Arabian and to the rest of our haters, that I had done the building of the wall and that there were no more broken places in it (though even then I had not put up the doors in the doorways);
6:1 Now it came to pass when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had built the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)

6:2 Sanballat and Geshem sent to me saying, Come, let us have a meeting in one of the little towns in the lowland of Ono. But their purpose was to do me evil.
6:2 That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.

6:3 ³»°¡ °ð ÀúÈñ¿¡°Ô »çÀÚµéÀ» º¸³»¾î À̸£±â¸¦ ³»°¡ ÀÌÁ¦ Å« ¿ª»ç¸¦ ÇÏ´Ï ³»·Á°¡Áö ¸øÇÏ°Ú³ë¶ó ¾îÂîÇÏ¿© ¿ª»ç¸¦ ¶°³ª Á¤ÁöÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ°í ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô·Î ³»·Á°¡°Ú´À³Ä ÇϸÅ
6:3 And I sent men to them saying, I am doing a great work, so that it is not possible for me to come down: is the work to be stopped while I go away from it and come down to you?
6:3 And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?

6:4 ÀúÈñ°¡ ³× ¹øÀ̳ª ÀÌ°°ÀÌ ³»°Ô º¸³»µÇ ³ª´Â ¿©ÀüÈ÷ ´ë´äÇÏ¿´´õ´Ï
6:4 And four times they sent to me in this way, and I sent them the same answer.
6:4 Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.

6:5 »ê¹ß¶ùÀÌ ´Ù¼¸ ¹ø°´Â ±× Á¾ÀÚÀÇ ¼Õ¿¡ ºÀÇÏÁö ¾ÊÀº ÆíÁö¸¦ µé·Á ³»°Ô º¸³»¾ú´Âµ¥
6:5 Then Sanballat sent his servant to me a fifth time with an open letter in his hand;
6:5 Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand;

6:6 ±× ±Û¿¡ À̸£±â¸¦ À̹æ Áß¿¡µµ ¼Ò¹®ÀÌ ÀÖ°í °¡½º¹«µµ ¸»Çϱ⸦ ³×°¡ À¯´Ù »ç¶÷µé·Î ´õºÒ¾î ¸ð¹ÝÇÏ·Á ÇÏ¿© ¼ºÀ» °ÇÃàÇÑ´Ù Çϳª´Ï ³×°¡ ±× ¸»°ú °°ÀÌ ¿ÕÀÌ µÇ·Á Çϴµµ´Ù
6:6 And in it these words were recorded: It is said among the nations, and Geshem says so, that you and the Jews are hoping to make yourselves free from the king's authority; and that this is why you are building the wall: and they say that it is your purpose to be their king;
6:6 Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu says it, that you and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause you build the wall, that you may be their king, according to these words.

6:7 ¶Ç ³×°¡ ¼±ÁöÀÚ¸¦ ¼¼¿ö ¿¹·ç»ì·½¿¡¼­ ³Ê¸¦ µé¾î ¼±ÀüÇϱ⸦ À¯´Ù¿¡ ¿ÕÀÌ ÀÖ´Ù ÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ¿´À¸´Ï ÀÌ ¸»ÀÌ ¿Õ¿¡°Ô µé¸±Áö¶ó ±×·±Áï ³Ê´Â ÀÌÁ¦ ¿À¶ó ÇÔ²² ÀdzíÇÏÀÚ ÇÏ¿´±â·Î
6:7 And that you have prophets preaching about you in Jerusalem, and saying, There is a king in Judah: now an account of these things will be sent to the king. So come now, and let us have a discussion.
6:7 And you have also appointed prophets to preach of you at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.

6:8 ³»°¡ º¸³»¾î Àú¿¡°Ô À̸£±â¸¦ ³ÊÀÇ ¸»ÇÑ ¹Ù ÀÌ·± ÀÏÀº ¾ø´Â ÀÏÀÌ¿ä ³× ¸¶À½¿¡¼­ Áö¾î³½ °ÍÀ̶ó ÇÏ¿´³ª´Ï
6:8 Then I sent to him, saying, No such things as you say are being done, they are only a fiction you have made up yourself.
6:8 Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as you says, but you feign them out of yours own heart.

6:9 For they were hoping to put fear in us, saying, Their hands will become feeble and give up the work so that it may not get done. But now, O God, make my hands strong.
6:9 For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.

6:10 ¡Û ÀÌ ÈÄ¿¡ ¹ÇÇì´Ùº§ÀÇ ¼ÕÀÚ µé¶ó¾ßÀÇ ¾Æµé ½º¸¶¾ß°¡ µÎ¹®ºÒÃâÇϱâ·Î ³»°¡ ±× Áý¿¡ °¡´Ï Àú°¡ À̸£±â¸¦ ÀúÈñ°¡ ³Ê¸¦ Á×ÀÌ·¯ ¿Ã ÅÍÀÌ´Ï ¿ì¸®°¡ Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ÀüÀ¸·Î °¡¼­ ¿Ü¼Ò ¾È¿¡ ÀÖ°í ±× ¹®À» ´ÝÀÚ ÀúÈñ°¡ ÇÊ¿¬ ¹ã¿¡ ¿Í¼­ ³Ê¸¦ Á×À̸®¶ó Çϱâ·Î
6:10 And I went to the house of Shemaiah, the son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us have a meeting in the house of God, inside the Temple, and let the doors be shut: for they will come to put you to death; truly, in the night they will come to put you to death.
6:10 Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay you; yea, in the night will they come to slay you.

6:11 ³»°¡ À̸£±â¸¦ ³ª °°Àº ÀÚ°¡ ¾îÂî µµ¸ÁÇÏ¸ç ³ª °°Àº ¸öÀÌ¸é ´©°¡ ¿Ü¼Ò¿¡ µé¾î°¡¼­ »ý¸íÀ» º¸Á¸ÇÏ°Ú´À³Ä ³ª´Â µé¾î°¡Áö ¾Ê°Ú³ë¶ó ÇÏ°í
6:11 And I said, Am I the sort of man to go in flight? what man, in my position, would go into the Temple to keep himself safe? I will not go in.
6:11 And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.

6:12 ±ú´ÞÀºÁï Àú´Â Çϳª´ÔÀÇ º¸³»½Å ¹Ù°¡ ¾Æ´Ï¶ó µµºñ¾ß¿Í »ê¹ß¶ù¿¡°Ô ³ú¹°À» ¹Þ°í ³»°Ô ÀÌ·± ¿¹¾ðÀ» ÇÔÀ̶ó
6:12 Then it became clear to me that God had not sent him: he had given this word of a prophet against me himself: and Tobiah and Sanballat had given him money to do so.
6:12 And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.

6:13 ÀúÈñ°¡ ³ú¹°À» ÁØ ±î´ßÀº ³ª¸¦ µÎ·Æ°Ô ÇÏ°í ÀÌ·¸°Ô ÇÔÀ¸·Î ¹üÁËÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ°í ¾ÇÇÑ ¸»À» Áö¾î ³ª¸¦ ºñ¹æÇÏ·Á ÇÔÀ̾ú´À´Ï¶ó
6:13 For this reason they had given him money, in order that I might be overcome by fear and do what he said and do wrong, and so they would have reason to say evil about me and put shame on me.
6:13 Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.

6:14 ³» Çϳª´ÔÀÌ¿© µµºñ¾ß¿Í »ê¹ß¶ù°ú ¿©¼±Áö ³ë¾Æ´ô¿Í ±× ³²Àº ¼±ÁöÀÚµé ¹«¸© ³ª¸¦ µÎ·Æ°Ô ÇÏ°íÀÚ ÇÑ ÀÚÀÇ ¼ÒÀ§¸¦ ±â¾ïÇϿɼҼ­ ÇÏ¿´³ë¶ó
6:14 Keep in mind, O my God, Tobiah and Sanballat and what they did, and Noadiah, the woman prophet, and the rest of the prophets whose purpose was to put fear into me.
6:14 My God, think you upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.

6:15 ¡Û ¼º ¿ª»ç°¡ ¿À½Ê ÀÌ ÀÏ ¸¸¿¡ ¿¤·ê¿ù ÀÌ½Ê ¿À ÀÏ¿¡ ³¡³ª¸Å
6:15 So the wall was complete on the twenty-fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty-two days.
6:15 So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.

6:16 ¿ì¸® ¸ðµç ´ëÀû°ú »ç¸é ÀÌ¹æ »ç¶÷µéÀÌ À̸¦ µè°í ´Ù µÎ·Á¿öÇÏ¿© ½º½º·Î ³«´ãÇÏ¿´À¸´Ï ÀÌ´Â ÀÌ ¿ª»ç¸¦ ¿ì¸® Çϳª´ÔÀÌ ÀÌ·ç½Å °ÍÀ» ¾ÍÀ̴϶ó
6:16 And when our haters had news of this, all the nations round about us were full of fear and were greatly shamed, for they saw that this work had been done by our God.
6:16 And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.

6:17 ±×¶§¿¡ À¯´ÙÀÇ ±ÍÀεéÀÌ ¿©·¯ ¹ø µµºñ¾ß¿¡°Ô ÆíÁöÇÏ¿´°í µµºñ¾ßÀÇ ÆíÁöµµ ÀúÈñ¿¡°Ô À̸£·¶À¸´Ï
6:17 And further, in those days the chiefs of Judah sent a number of letters to Tobiah, and his letters came to them.
6:17 Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and the letters of Tobiah came unto them.

6:18 For in Judah there were a number of people who had made an agreement by oath with him, because he was the son-in-law of Shecaniah, the son of Arah; and his son Jehohanan had taken as his wife the daughter of Meshullam, the son of Berechiah.
6:18 For there were many in Judah sworn unto him, because he was the son in law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.

6:19 And they said much before me of the good he had done, and gave him accounts of my words. And Tobiah sent letters with the purpose of causing me fear.
6:19 Also they reported his good deeds before me, and uttered my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.

7:1 Now when the building of the wall was complete and I had put up the doors, and the door-keepers and the music-makers and the Levites had been given their places,
7:1 Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,

7:2 I made my brother Hanani, and Hananiah, the ruler of the tower, responsible for the government of Jerusalem: for he was a man of good faith, fearing God more than most.
7:2 That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.
