1:1 하가랴의 아들 느헤미야의 말이라 ○ 아닥사스다 왕 제 이십 년 기슬르월에
내가 수산 궁에 있더니
1:1 The history of Nehemiah, the son of Hacaliah. Now it came about, in the month Chislev,
in the twentieth year, when I was in Shushan, the king's town,
1:1 The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,
1:2 나의 한 형제 중 하나니가 두어 사람과 함께 유다에서 이르렀기로 내가 그
사로잡힘을 면하고 남아 있는 유다 사람과 예루살렘 형편을 물은즉
1:2 That Hanani, one of my brothers, came with certain men from Judah; and in answer
to my request for news of the Jews who had been prisoners and had got away, and
of Jerusalem,
1:2 That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.
1:3 저희가 내게 이르되 사로잡힘을 면하고 남은 자가 그 도에서 큰 환난을 만나고
능욕을 받으며 예루살렘 성은 훼파되고 성문들은 소화되었다 하는지라
1:3 They said to me, The small band of Jews now living there in the land are in great
trouble and shame: the wall of Jerusalem has been broken down, and its doorways
burned with fire.
1:3 And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.
1:4 내가 이 말을 듣고 앉아서 울고 수일 동안 슬퍼하며 하늘의 하나님 앞에 금식하며
기도하여
1:4 Then, after hearing these words, for some days I gave myself up to weeping and sorrow,
seated on the earth; and taking no food I made prayer to the God of heaven,
1:4 And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,
1:5 가로되 하늘의 하나님 여호와 크고 두려우신 하나님이여 주를 사랑하고 주의
계명을 지키는 자에게 언약을 지키시며 긍휼을 베푸시는 주여 간구하나이다
1:5 And said, O Lord, the God of heaven, the great God, greatly to be feared, keeping
faith and mercy with those who have love for him and are true to his laws:
1:5 And said, I plead to you, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keeps covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:
1:6 이제 종이 주의 종 이스라엘 자손을 위하여 주야로 기도하오며 이스라엘 자손의
주 앞에 범죄함을 자복하오니 주는 귀를 기울이시며 눈을 여시사 종의 기도를 들으시옵소서
나와 나의 아비 집이 범죄하여
1:6 Let your ear now take note and let your eyes be open, so that you may give ear to
the prayer of your servant, which I make before you at this time, day and night,
for the children of Israel, your servants, while I put before you the sins of the
children of Israel, which we have done against you: truly, I and my father's people
are sinners.
1:6 Let yours ear now be attentive, and yours eyes open, that you may hear the prayer of your servant, which I pray before you now, day and night, for the children of Israel your servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against you: both I and my father's house have sinned.
1:7 주를 향하여 심히 악을 행하여 주의 종 모세에게 주께서 명하신 계명과 율례와
규례를 지키지 아니하였나이다
1:7 We have done great wrong against you, and have not kept the orders, the rules, and
the decisions, which you gave to your servant Moses.
1:7 We have dealt very corruptly against you, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which you commandedst your servant Moses.
1:8 옛적에 주께서 주의 종 모세에게 명하여 가라사대 만일 너희가 범죄하면 내가
너희를 열국 중에 흩을 것이요
1:8 Keep in mind, O Lord, the order you gave your servant Moses, saying, If you do wrong
I will send you wandering among the peoples:
1:8 Remember, I plead to you, the word that you commandedst your servant Moses, saying, If all of you transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:
1:9 만일 내게로 돌아와서 내 계명을 지켜 행하면 너희 쫓긴 자가 하늘 끝에 있을지라도
내가 거기서부터 모아 내 이름을 두려고 택한 곳에 돌아오게 하리라 하신 말씀을
이제 청컨대 기억하옵소서
1:9 But if you come back to me and keep my orders and do them, even if those of you
who have been forced out are living in the farthest parts of heaven, I will get
them from there, and take them back to the place marked out by me for the resting-place
of my name.
1:9 But if all of you turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.
1:10 이들은 주께서 일찍 큰 권능과 강한 손으로 구속하신 주의 종이요 주의 백성이니이다
1:10 Now these are your servants and your people, whom you have made yours by your great
power and by your strong hand.
1:10 Now these are your servants and your people, whom you have redeemed by your great power, and by your strong hand.
1:11 주여 구하오니 귀를 기울이사 종의 기도와 주의 이름을 경외하기를 기뻐하는
종들의 기도를 들으시고 오늘날 종으로 형통하여 이 사람 앞에서 은혜를 입게 하옵소서
하였나니 그때에 내가 왕의 술 관원이 되었었느니라
1:11 O Lord, let your ear take note of the prayer of your servant, and of the prayers
of your servants, who take delight in worshipping your name: give help, O Lord,
to your servant this day, and let him have mercy in the eyes of this man. (Now I
was the king's wine-servant.)
1:11 O LORD, I plead to you, let now yours ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants, who desire to fear your name: and prosper, I pray you, your servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king's cupbearer.
2:1 아닥사스다 왕 이십 년 니산월에 왕의 앞에 술이 있기로 내가 들어 왕에게
드렸는데 이전에는 내가 왕의 앞에서 수색이 없었더니
2:1 And it came about in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king,
when wine was before him, that I took up the wine and gave it to the king. Now I
had never before been sad when the king was present.
2:1 And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been in time past sad in his presence.
2:2 왕이 내게 이르시되 네가 병이 없거늘 어찌하여 얼굴에 수색이 있느냐 이는
필연 네 마음에 근심이 있음이로다 그때에 내가 크게 두려워하여
2:2 And the king said to me, Why is your face sad, seeing that you are not ill? this
is nothing but sorrow of heart. Then I was full of fear;
2:2 Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is your countenance sad, seeing you are not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid,
2:3 왕께 대답하되 왕은 만세수를 하옵소서 나의 열조의 묘실 있는 성읍이 이제까지
황무하고 성문이 소화되었사오니 내가 어찌 얼굴에 수색이 없사오리이까
2:3 And said to the king, May the king be living for ever: is it not natural for my
face to be sad, when the town, the place where the bodies of my fathers are at rest,
has been made waste and its doorways burned with fire?
2:3 And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchers, lies waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?
2:4 왕이 내게 이르시되 그러면 네가 무엇을 원하느냐 하시기로 내가 곧 하늘의
하나님께 묵도하고
2:4 Then the king said to me, What is your desire? So I made prayer to the God of heaven.
2:4 Then the king said unto me, For what do you make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.
2:5 왕에게 고하되 왕이 만일 즐겨하시고 종이 왕의 목전에서 은혜를 얻었사오면
나를 유다 땅 나의 열조의 묘실 있는 성읍에 보내어 그 성을 중건하게 하옵소서 하였는데
2:5 And I said to the king, If it is the king's pleasure, and if your servant has your
approval, send me to Judah, to the town where the bodies of my fathers are at rest,
so that I may take in hand the building of it.
2:5 And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if your servant have found favour in your sight, that you would send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' sepulchers, that I may build it.
2:6 그때에 왕후도 왕의 곁에 앉았더라 왕이 내게 이르시되 네가 몇 날에 행할
길이며 어느 때에 돌아오겠느냐 하고 왕이 나를 보내기를 즐겨하시기로 내가 기한을
정하고
2:6 And the king said to me (the queen being seated by his side), How long will your
journey take, and when will you come back? So the king was pleased to send me, and
I gave him a fixed time.
2:6 And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall your journey be? and when will you return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.
2:7 내가 또 왕에게 아뢰되 왕이 만일 즐겨하시거든 강 서편 총독들에게 내리시는
조서를 내게 주사 저희로 나를 용납하여 유다까지 통과하게 하시고
2:7 Further, I said to the king, If it is the king's pleasure, let letters be given
to me for the rulers across the river, so that they may let me go through till I
come to Judah;
2:7 Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the river, that they may convey me over till I come into Judah;
2:8 또 왕의 삼림 감독 아삽에게 조서를 내리사 저로 전에 속한 영문의 문과 성곽과
나의 거할 집을 위하여 들보 재목을 주게 하옵소서 하매 내 하나님의 선한 손이 나를
도우심으로 왕이 허락하고
2:8 And a letter to Asaph, the keeper of the king's park, so that he may give me wood
to make boards for the doors of the tower of the house, and for the wall of the
town, and for the house which is to be mine. And the king gave me this, for the
hand of my God was on me.
2:8 And a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which appertained to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.
2:9 군대 장관과 마병을 보내어 나와 함께 하게 하시기로 내가 강 서편에 있는 총독들에게
이르러 왕의 조서를 전하였더니
2:9 Then I came to the rulers of the lands across the river and gave them the king's
letters. Now the king had sent with me captains of the army and horsemen.
2:9 Then I came to the governors beyond the river, and gave them the king's letters. Now the king had sent captains of the army and horsemen with me.
2:10 호론 사람 산발랏과 종 되었던 암몬 사람 도비야가 이스라엘 자손을 흥왕케
하려는 사람이 왔다 함을 듣고 심히 근심하더라
2:10 And Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, hearing of it,
were greatly troubled because a man had come to the help of the children of Israel.
2:10 When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.
2:11 내가 예루살렘에 이르러 거한 지 삼 일에
2:11 So I came to Jerusalem and was there three days.
2:11 So I came to Jerusalem, and was there three days.
2:12 내 하나님이 내 마음을 감화하사 예루살렘을 위하여 행하게 하신 일을 내가
아무 사람에게도 말하지 아니하고 밤에 일어나 두어 사람과 함께 나갈새 내가 탄
짐승 외에는 다른 짐승이 없더라
2:12 And in the night I got up, taking with me a small band of men; I said nothing to
any man of what God had put into my heart to do for Jerusalem: and I had no beast
with me but the one on which I was seated.
2:12 And I arose in the night, I and some few men with me; neither told I any man what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem: neither was there any beast with me, save the beast that I rode upon.
2:13 그 밤에 골짜기 문으로 나가서 용정으로 분문에 이르는 동안에 보니 예루살렘
성벽이 다 무너졌고 성문은 소화되었더라
2:13 And I went out by night, through the doorway of the valley, and past the dragon's
water-spring as far as the place where waste material was put, viewing the walls
of Jerusalem which were broken down, and the doorways which had been burned with
fire.
2:13 And I went out by night by the gate of the valley, even before the dragon well, and to the dung port, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and the gates thereof were consumed with fire.
2:14 앞으로 행하여 샘문과 왕의 못에 이르러는 탄 짐승이 지나갈 곳이 없는지라
2:14 Then I went on to the door of the fountain and to the king's pool: but there was
no room for my beast to get through.
2:14 Then I went on to the gate of the fountain, and to the king's pool: but there was no place for the beast that was under me to pass.
2:15 그 밤에 시내를 좇아 올라가서 성벽을 살펴본 후에 돌이켜 골짜기 문으로
들어와서 돌아왔으나
2:15 Then in the night, I went up by the stream, viewing the wall; then turning back,
I went in by the door in the valley, and so came back.
2:15 Then went I up in the night by the brook, and viewed the wall, and turned back, and entered by the gate of the valley, and so returned.
2:16 방백들은 내가 어디 갔었으며 무엇을 하였는지 알지 못하였고 나도 그 일을
유다 사람들에게나 제사장들에게나 귀인들에게나 방백들에게나 그 외에 일하는 자들에게
고하지 아니하다가
2:16 And the chiefs had no knowledge of where I had been or what I was doing; and I had
not then said anything to the Jews or to the priests or the great ones or the chiefs
or the rest of those who were doing the work.
2:16 And the rulers knew not where I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest that did the work.
2:17 후에 저희에게 이르기를 우리의 당한 곤경은 너희도 목도하는 바라 예루살렘이
황무하고 성문이 소화되었으니 자 예루살렘 성을 중건하여 다시 수치를 받지 말자
하고
2:17 Then I said to them, You see what a bad condition we are in; how Jerusalem is a
waste, and its doorways burned with fire: come, let us get to work, building up
the wall of Jerusalem, so that we may no longer be put to shame.
2:17 Then said I unto them, All of you see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.
2:18 또 저희에게 하나님의 선한 손이 나를 도우신 일과 왕이 내게 이른 말씀을
고하였더니 저희의 말이 일어나 건축하자 하고 모두 힘을 내어 이 선한 일을 하려
하매
2:18 Then I gave them an account of how the hand of my God was on me, helping me; and
of the king's words which he had said to me. And they said, Let us get to work on
the building. So they made their hands strong for the good work.
2:18 Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king's words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.
2:19 호론 사람 산발랏과 종이 되었던 암몬 사람 도비야와 아라비아 사람 게셈이
이 말을 듣고 우리를 업신여기고 비웃어 가로되 너희의 하는 일이 무엇이냐 왕을
배반코자 하느냐 하기로
2:19 But Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the
Arabian, hearing of it, made sport of us, laughing at us and saying, What are you
doing? will you go against the king?
2:19 But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that all of you do? will all of you rebel against the king?
2:20 내가 대답하여 가로되 하늘의 하나님이 우리로 형통케 하시리니 그의 종
우리가 일어나 건축하려니와 오직 너희는 예루살렘에서 아무 기업도 없고 권리도
없고 명록도 없다 하였느니라
2:20 Then answering them I said, The God of heaven, he will be our help; so we his servants
will go on with our building: but you have no part or right or any name in Jerusalem.
2:20 Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but all of you have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.
3:1 때에 대제사장 엘리아십이 그 형제 제사장들과 함께 일어나 양문을 건축하여
성별하고 문짝을 달고 또 성벽을 건축하여 함메아 망대에서부터 하나넬 망대까지
성별하였고
3:1 Then Eliashib, the chief priest, got up with his brothers the priests, and took
in hand the building of the sheep doorway; they made it holy and put its doors in
position; as far as the tower of Hammeah they made it holy, even to the tower of
Hananel.
3:1 Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they built the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel.
3:2 그 다음은 여리고 사람들이 건축하였고 또 그 다음은 이므리의 아들 삭굴이
건축하였으며
3:2 And by his side the men of Jericho were building. And after them, Zaccur, the son
of Imri.
3:2 And next unto him built the men of Jericho. And next to them built Zaccur the son of Imri.
3:3 어문은 하스나아의 자손들이 건축하여 그 들보를 얹고 문짝을 달고 자물쇠와
빗장을 갖추었고
3:3 The sons of Hassenaah were the builders of the fish doorway; they put its boards
in place and put up its doors, with their locks and rods.
3:3 But the fish gate did the sons of Hassenaah build, who also laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
3:4 그 다음은 학고스의 손자 우리아의 아들 므레못이 중수하였고 그 다음은 므세사벨의
손자 베레갸의 아들 므술람이 중수하였고 그 다음은 바아나의 아들 사독이 중수하였고
3:4 By their side Meremoth, the son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, was making good the
walls. Then Meshullam, the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabel; and by him,
Zadok, the son of Baana.
3:4 And next unto them repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah, the son of Koz. And next unto them repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabeel. And next unto them repaired Zadok the son of Baana.
3:5 그 다음은 드고아 사람들이 중수하였으나 그 귀족들은 그 주의 역사에 담부치
아니하였으며
3:5 Near them, the Tekoites were at work; but their chiefs did not put their necks to
the work of their Lord.
3:5 And next unto them the Tekoites repaired; but their nobles put not their necks to the work of their LORD.
3:6 옛 문은 바세아의 아들 요야다와 브소드야의 아들 므술람이 중수하여 그 들보를
얹고 문짝을 달고 자물쇠와 빗장을 갖추었고
3:6 Joiada, the son of Paseah, and Meshullam, the son of Besodeiah, made good the old
doorway; they put its boards in place and put up its doors, with their locks and
rods.
3:6 Moreover the old gate repaired Jehoiada the son of Paseah, and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah; they laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, and the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
3:7 그 다음은 기브온 사람 믈라댜와 메로놋 사람 야돈이 강 서편 총독의 관할에
속한 기브온 사람들과 미스바 사람들로 더불어 중수하였고
3:7 By their side were working Melatiah the Gibeonite and Jadon the Meronothite, the
men of Gibeon and of Mizpah from the seat of the ruler across the river.
3:7 And next unto them repaired Melatiah the Gibeonite, and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon, and of Mizpah, unto the throne of the governor on this side the river.
3:8 그 다음은 금장색 할해야의 아들 웃시엘 등이 중수하였고 그 다음은 향품 장사
하나냐 등이 중수하되 저희가 예루살렘 넓은 성벽까지 하였고
3:8 Near them was working Uzziel, the son of Harhaiah, the gold-worker. And by him was
Hananiah, one of the perfume-makers, building up Jerusalem as far as the wide wall.
3:8 Next unto him repaired Uzziel the son of Harhaiah, of the goldsmiths. Next unto him also repaired Hananiah the son of one of the apothecaries, and they fortified Jerusalem unto the broad wall.
3:9 그 다음은 예루살렘 지방 절반을 다스리는 자 후르의 아들 르바야가 중수하였고
3:9 Near them was working Rephaiah, the son of Hur, the ruler of half Jerusalem.
3:9 And next unto them repaired Rephaiah the son of Hur, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem.
3:10 하루맙의 아들 여다야는 자기 집과 마주 대한 곳을 중수하였고 그 다음은
하삽느야의 아들 핫두스가 중수하였고
3:10 By his side was Jedaiah, the son of Harumaph, opposite his house. And by him was
Hattush, the son of Hashabneiah.
3:10 And next unto them repaired Jedaiah the son of Harumaph, even opposite to his house. And next unto him repaired Hattush the son of Hashabniah.
3:11 하림의 아들 말기야와 바핫모압의 아들 핫숩이 한 부분과 풀무 망대를 중수하였고
3:11 Malchijah, the son of Harim, and Hasshub, the son of Pahath-moab, were working on
another part, and the tower of the ovens.
3:11 Malchijah the son of Harim, and Hashub the son of Pahathmoab, repaired the other piece, and the tower of the furnaces.
3:12 그 다음은 예루살렘 지방 절반을 다스리는 자 할로헤스의 아들 살룸과 그
딸들이 중수하였고
3:12 Near them was Shallum, the son of Hallohesh, the ruler of half Jerusalem, with his
daughters.
3:12 And next unto him repaired Shallum the son of Halohesh, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem, he and his daughters.
3:13 골짜기 문은 하눈과 사노아 거민이 중수하여 문을 세우며 문짝을 달고 자물쇠와
빗장을 갖추고 또 분문까지 성벽 일천 규빗을 중수하였고
3:13 Hanun and the people of Zanoah were working on the doorway of the valley; they put
it up and put up its doors, with their locks and rods, and a thousand cubits of
wall as far as the doorway where the waste material was placed.
3:13 The valley gate repaired Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and a thousand cubits on the wall unto the dung gate.
3:14 분문은 벧학게렘 지방을 다스리는 레갑의 아들 말기야가 중수하여 문을 세우며
문짝을 달고 자물쇠와 빗장을 갖추었고
3:14 And Malchijah, the son of Rechab, the ruler of the division of Beth-haccherem, made
good the doorway of the waste, building it up and putting up its doors, with their
locks and rods.
3:14 But the dung gate repaired Malchiah the son of Rechab, the ruler of part of Bethhaccerem; he built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
3:15 샘문은 미스바 지방을 다스리는 골호세의 아들 살룬이 중수하여 문을 세우고
덮으며 문짝을 달며 자물쇠와 빗장을 갖추고 또 왕의 동산 근처 셀라 못가의 성벽을
중수하여 다윗 성에서 내려오는 층계까지 이르렀고
3:15 And Shallun, the son of Col-hozeh, the ruler of the division of Mizpah, made good
the doorway of the fountain, building it up and covering it and putting up its doors,
with their locks and rods, with the wall of the pool of Shelah by the king's garden,
as far as the steps which go down from the town of David.
3:15 But the gate of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of Colhozeh, the ruler of part of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall of the pool of Siloah by the king's garden, and unto the stairs that go down from the city of David.
3:16 그 다음은 벧술 지방 절반을 다스리는 자 아스북의 아들 느헤미야가 중수하여
다윗의 묘실과 마주 대한 곳에 이르고 또 파서 만든 못을 지나 용사의 집까지 이르렀고
3:16 By his side was working Nehemiah, the son of Azbuk, ruler of half the division of
Beth-zur, as far as the place opposite the last resting-places of David's family,
and the pool which was made and the house of the men of war.
3:16 After him repaired Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Bethzur, unto the place opposite to the sepulchers of David, and to the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty.
3:17 그 다음은 레위 사람 바니의 아들 르훔이 중수하였고 그 다음은 그일라 지방
절반을 다스리는 자 하사뱌가 그 지방을 대표하여 중수하였고
3:17 Then came the Levites, Rehum, the son of Bani. By his side was working Hashabiah,
ruler of half the division of Keilah, for his division.
3:17 After him repaired the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani. Next unto him repaired Hashabiah, the ruler of the half part of Keilah, in his part.
3:18 그 다음은 그 형제 그일라 지방 절반을 다스리는 자 헤나닷의 아들 바왜가

3:18 After him were working their brothers, Bavvai, the son of Henadad, ruler of half
the division of Keilah.
3:18 After him repaired their brethren, Bavai the son of Henadad, the ruler of the half part of Keilah.
3:19 그 다음은 미스바를 다스리는 자 예수아의 아들 에셀이 한 부분을 중수하여
성 굽이에 있는 군기고 맞은편까지 이르렀고
3:19 And by his side was working Ezer, the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, making
good another part opposite the way up to the store of arms at the turning of the
wall.
3:19 And next to him repaired Ezer the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, another piece opposite to the going up to the armoury at the turning of the wall.
3:20 그 다음은 삽배의 아들 바룩이 한 부분을 힘써 중수하여 성 굽이에서부터
대제사장 엘리아십의 집 문에 이르렀고
3:20 After him Baruch, the son of Zabbai, was hard at work on another part, from the
turning of the wall to the door of the house of Eliashib, the chief priest.
3:20 After him Baruch the son of Zabbai earnestly repaired the other piece, from the turning of the wall unto the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest.
3:21 그 다음은 학고스의 손자 우리야의 아들 므레못이 한 부분을 중수하여 엘리아십의
집 문에서부터 엘리아십의 집 모퉁이에 이르렀고
3:21 After him Meremoth, the son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, was working on another
part, from the door of the house of Eliashib as far as the end of his house.
3:21 After him repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah the son of Koz another piece, from the door of the house of Eliashib even to the end of the house of Eliashib.
3:22 그 다음은 평지에 사는 제사장들이 중수하였고
3:22 After him were working the priests, the men of the lowland.
3:22 And after him repaired the priests, the men of the plain.
3:23 그 다음은 베냐민과 핫숩이 자기 집 맞은편 부분을 중수하였고 그 다음은
아나냐의 손자 마아세야의 아들 아사랴가 자기 집에서 가까운 부분을 중수하였고
3:23 After them came Benjamin and Hasshub, opposite their house. After them Azariah,
the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ananiah, made good the wall by the house where he
himself was living.
3:23 After him repaired Benjamin and Hashub opposite to their house. After him repaired Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah by his house.
3:24 그 다음은 헤나닷의 아들 빈누이가 한 부분을 중수하되 아사랴의 집에서부터
성 굽이를 지나 성 모퉁이에 이르렀고
3:24 After him Binnui, the son of Henadad, was working on another part, from the house
of Azariah as far as the turning of the wall and the angle.
3:24 After him repaired Binnui the son of Henadad another piece, from the house of Azariah unto the turning of the wall, even unto the corner.
3:25 우새의 아들 발랄은 성 굽이 맞은편과 왕의 윗 궁에서 내어민 망대 맞은편
곧 시위청에서 가까운 부분을 중수하였고 그 다음은 바로스의 아들 브다야가 중수하였고
3:25 Palal, the son of Uzai, made good the wall opposite the angle and the tower which
comes out from the higher part of the king's house, by the open space of the watch.
After him was Pedaiah, the son of Parosh.
3:25 Palal the son of Uzai, opposite to the turning of the wall, and the tower which lies out from the king's high house, that was by the court of the prison. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh.
3:26 {때에 느디님 사람은 오벨에 거하여 동편 수문과 마주 대한 곳에서부터 내어민
망대까지 미쳤느니라}
3:26 (Now the Nethinim were living in the Ophel, as far as the place facing the water
doorway to the east, and the tower which comes out.)
3:26 Moreover the Nethinims dwelt in Ophel, unto the place opposite to the water gate toward the east, and the tower that lies out.
3:27 그 다음은 드고아 사람들이 한 부분을 중수하여 내어민 큰 망대와 마주 대한
곳에서부터 오벨 성벽까지 이르렀느니라
3:27 After him the Tekoites were making good another part, opposite the great tower which
comes out, and up to the wall of the Ophel.
3:27 After them the Tekoites repaired another piece, opposite to the great tower that lies out, even unto the wall of Ophel.
3:28 마문 위로부터는 제사장들이 각각 자기 집과 마주 대한 부분을 중수하였고
3:28 Further on, past the horse doorway, the priests were at work, every one opposite
his house.
3:28 From above the horse gate repaired the priests, every one opposite to his house.
3:29 그 다음은 임멜의 아들 사독이 자기 집과 마주 대한 부분을 중수하였고 그
다음은 동문지기 스가냐의 아들 스마야가 중수하였고
3:29 After them Zadok, the son of Immer, was working opposite his house. And after him
Shemaiah, the son of Shecaniah, the keeper of the east door.
3:29 After them repaired Zadok the son of Immer opposite to his house. After him repaired also Shemaiah the son of Shechaniah, the keeper of the east gate.
3:30 그 다음은 셀레먀의 아들 하나냐와 살랍의 여섯째 아들 하눈이 한 부분을
중수하였고 그 다음은 베레갸의 아들 므술람이 자기 침방과 마주 대한 부분을 중수하였고
3:30 After him Hananiah, the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun, the sixth son of Zalaph, were
making good another part. After him Meshullam, the son of Berechiah, made good the
wall opposite his room.
3:30 After him repaired Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, another piece. After him repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah opposite to his chamber.
3:31 그 다음은 금장색 말기야가 함밉갓 문과 마주 대한 부분을 중수하여 느디님
사람과 상고들의 집에서부터 성 모퉁이 누에 이르렀고
3:31 After him Malchijah, one of the gold-workers to the Nethinim and the traders, made
good the wall opposite the doorway of Hammiphkad and as far as the way up to the
angle.
3:31 After him repaired Malchiah the goldsmith's son unto the place of the Nethinims, and of the merchants, opposite to the gate Miphkad, and to the going up of the corner.
3:32 성 모퉁이 누에서 양문까지는 금장색과 상고들이 중수하였느니라
3:32 And between the way up to the angle and the sheep door, the gold-workers and the
traders made good the wall.
3:32 And between the going up of the corner unto the sheep gate repaired the goldsmiths and the merchants.
4:1 산발랏이 우리가 성을 건축한다 함을 듣고 크게 분노하여 유다 사람을 비웃으며
4:1 Now, Sanballat, hearing that we were building the wall, was very angry, and in his
wrath made sport of the Jews.
4:1 But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we built the wall, he was angry, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
4:2 자기 형제들과 사마리아 군대 앞에서 말하여 가로되 이 미약한 유다 사람들의
하는 일이 무엇인가 스스로 견고케 하려는가 제사를 드리려는가 하루에 필역하려는가
소화된 돌을 흙 무더기에서 다시 일으키려는가 하고
4:2 And in the hearing of his countrymen and the army of Samaria he said, What are these
feeble Jews doing? will they make themselves strong? will they make offerings? will
they get the work done in a day? will they make the stones which have been burned
come again out of the dust?
4:2 And he spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?
4:3 암몬 사람 도비야는 곁에 섰다가 가로되 저들의 건축하는 성벽은 여우가 올라가도
곧 무너지리라 하더라
4:3 Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Such is their building that if
a fox goes up it, their stone wall will be broken down.
4:3 Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.
4:4 우리 하나님이여 들으시옵소서 우리가 업신여김을 당하나이다 원컨대 저희의
욕하는 것으로 자기의 머리에 돌리사 노략거리가 되어 이방에 사로잡히게 하시고
4:4 Give ear, O our God, for we are looked down on: let their words of shame be turned
back on themselves, and let them be given up to wasting in a land where they are
prisoners:
4:4 Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity:
4:5 주의 앞에서 그 악을 덮어 두지 마옵시며 그 죄를 도말하지 마옵소서 저희가
건축하는 자 앞에서 주의 노를 격동하였음이니이다 하고
4:5 Let not their wrongdoing be covered or their sin washed away from before you: for
they have made you angry before the builders.
4:5 And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before you: for they have provoked you to anger before the builders.
4:6 이에 우리가 성을 건축하여 전부가 연락되고 고가 절반에 미쳤으니 이는 백성이
마음 들여 역사하였음이니라
4:6 So we went on building the wall; and all the wall was joined together half-way up:
for the people were working hard.
4:6 So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.
4:7 ○ 산발랏과 도비야와 아라비아 사람들과 암몬 사람들과 아스돗 사람들이
예루살렘 성이 중수되어 그 퇴락한 곳이 수보되어 간다 함을 듣고 심히 분하여
4:7 But when it came to the ears of Sanballat and Tobiah and the Arabians and the Ammonites
and the Ashdodites, that the building of the walls of Jerusalem was going forward
and the broken places were being made good, they were full of wrath;
4:7 But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very angry,
4:8 다 함께 꾀하기를 예루살렘으로 가서 쳐서 요란하게 하자 하기로
4:8 And they made designs, all of them together, to come and make an attack on Jerusalem,
causing trouble there.
4:8 And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it.
4:9 우리가 우리 하나님께 기도하며 저희를 인하여 파숫군을 두어 주야로 방비하는데
4:9 But we made our prayer to God, and had men on watch against them day and night because
of them.
4:9 Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
4:10 유다 사람들은 이르기를 흙 무더기가 아직도 많거늘 담부하는 자의 힘이
쇠하였으니 우리가 성을 건축하지 못하리라 하고
4:10 And Judah said, The strength of the workmen is giving way, and there is much waste
material; it is impossible for us to put up the wall.
4:10 And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.
4:11 우리의 대적은 이르기를 저희가 알지 못하고 보지 못하는 사이에 우리가
저희 중에 달려 들어가서 살륙하여 역사를 그치게 하리라 하고
4:11 And those who were against us said, Without their knowledge and without their seeing
us, we will come among them and put them to death, causing the work to come to a
stop.
4:11 And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.
4:12 그 대적의 근처에 거하는 유다 사람들도 그 각처에서 와서 열 번이나 우리에게
고하기를 너희가 우리에게로 와야 하리라 하기로
4:12 And it came about that when the Jews who were living near them came, they said to
us ten times, From all directions they are coming against us.
4:12 And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times, From all places whence all of you shall return unto us they will be upon you.
4:13 내가 성 뒤 낮고 넓은 곳에 백성으로 그 종족을 따라 칼과 창과 활을 가지고
서게 하고
4:13 So in the lowest part of the space at the back of the walls, in the open places,
I put the people by families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
4:13 Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
4:14 내가 돌아본 후에 일어나서 귀인들과 민장과 남은 백성에게 고하기를 너희는
저희를 두려워 말고 지극히 크시고 두려우신 주를 기억하고 너희 형제와 자녀와 아내와
집을 위하여 싸우라 하였었느니라
4:14 And after looking, I got up and said to the great ones and to the chiefs and to
the rest of the people, Have no fear of them: keep in mind the Lord who is great
and greatly to be feared, and take up arms for your brothers, your sons, and your
daughters, your wives and your houses.
4:14 And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not all of you afraid of them: remember the LORD, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
4:15 ○ 우리의 대적이 자기의 뜻을 우리가 알았다 함을 들으니라 하나님이 저희의
꾀를 폐하셨으므로 우리가 다 성에 돌아와서 각각 역사하였는데
4:15 And when it came to the ears of those who were against us, that we had knowledge
of their designs and that God had made their purpose come to nothing, we all went
back to the wall, everyone to his work
4:15 And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nothing, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.
4:16 그때로부터 내 종자의 절반은 역사하고 절반은 갑옷을 입고 창과 방패와
활을 가졌고 민장은 유다 온 족속의 뒤에 있었으며
4:16 And from that time, half of my servants were doing their part of the work, and half
kept the spears and body-covers and the bows and the metal war-dresses; and the
chiefs were at the back of the men of Judah.
4:16 And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.
4:17 성을 건축하는 자와 담부하는 자는 다 각각 한 손으로 일을 하며 한 손에는
병기를 잡았는데
4:17 Those who were building the wall and those who were moving material did their part,
everyone working with one hand, with his spear in the other;
4:17 They which built on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon.
4:18 건축하는 자는 각각 칼을 차고 건축하며 나팔 부는 자는 내 곁에 섰었느니라
4:18 Every builder was working with his sword at his side. And by my side was a man for
sounding the horn.
4:18 For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so built. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me.
4:19 내가 귀인들과 민장들과 남은 백성에게 이르기를 이 역사는 크고 넓으므로
우리가 성에서 나뉘어 상거가 먼즉
4:19 And I said to the great ones and the chiefs and the rest of the people, The work
is great and widely spaced and we are far away from one another on the wall:
4:19 And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another.
4:20 너희가 무론 어디서든지 나팔 소리를 듣거든 그리로 모여서 우리에게로 나아오라
우리 하나님이 우리를 위하여 싸우시리라 하였느니라
4:20 Wherever you may be when the horn is sounded, come here to us; our God will be fighting
for us.
4:20 In what place therefore all of you hear the sound of the trumpet, resort all of you thither unto us: our God shall fight for us.
4:21 ○ 우리가 이같이 역사하는데 무리의 절반은 동틀 때부터 별이 나기까지
창을 잡았었으며
4:21 So we went on with the work: and half of them had spears in their hands from the
dawn of the morning till the stars were seen.
4:21 So we laboured in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared.
4:22 그때에 내가 또 백성에게 고하기를 사람마다 그 종자와 함께 예루살렘 안에서
잘지니 밤에는 우리를 위하여 파수하겠고 낮에는 역사하리라 하고
4:22 And at the same time I said to the people, Let everyone with his servant come inside
Jerusalem for the night, so that at night they may keep watch for us, and go on
working by day.
4:22 Likewise at the same time said I unto the people, Let every one with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and labour on the day.
4:23 내나 내 형제들이나 종자들이나 나를 좇아 파수하는 사람들이나 다 그 옷을
벗지 아니하였으며 물을 길으러 갈 때에도 기계를 잡았었느니라
4:23 So not one of us, I or my brothers or my servants or the watchmen who were with
me, took off his clothing, everyone went armed to the water.
4:23 So neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard which followed me, none of us put off our clothes, saving that every one put them off for washing.
5:1 때에 백성이 그 아내와 함께 크게 부르짖어 그 형제 유다 사람을 원망하는데
5:1 Then there was a great outcry from the people and their wives against their countrymen
the Jews.
5:1 And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.
5:2 혹은 말하기를 우리와 우리 자녀가 많으니 곡식을 얻어 먹고 살아야 하겠다
하고
5:2 For there were some who said, We, our sons and our daughters, are a great number:
let us get grain, so that we may have food for our needs.
5:2 For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live.
5:3 혹은 말하기를 우리의 밭과 포도원과 집이라도 전당 잡히고 이 흉년을 위하여
곡식을 얻자 하고
5:3 And there were some who said, We are giving our fields and our vine-gardens and
our houses for debt: let us get grain because we are in need.
5:3 Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.
5:4 혹은 말하기를 우리는 밭과 포도원으로 돈을 빚내어 세금을 바쳤도다
5:4 And there were others who said, We have given up our fields and our vine-gardens
to get money for the king's taxes.
5:4 There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.
5:5 우리 육체도 우리 형제의 육체와 같고 우리 자녀도 저희 자녀 같거늘 이제
우리 자녀를 종으로 파는도다 우리 딸 중에 벌써 종 된 자가 있으나 우리의 밭과 포도원이
이미 남의 것이 되었으니 속량할 힘이 없도다
5:5 But our flesh is the same as the flesh of our countrymen, and our children as their
children: and now we are giving our sons and daughters into the hands of others,
to be their servants, and some of our daughters are servants even now: and we have
no power to put a stop to it; for other men have our fields and our vine-gardens.
5:5 Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.
5:6 ○ 내가 백성의 부르짖음과 이런 말을 듣고 크게 노하여
5:6 And on hearing their outcry and what they said I was very angry.
5:6 And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.
5:7 중심에 계획하고 귀인과 민장을 꾸짖어 이르기를 너희가 각기 형제에게 취리를
하는도다 하고 대회를 열고 저희를 쳐서
5:7 And after turning it over in my mind, I made a protest to the chiefs and the rulers,
and said to them, Every one of you is taking interest from his countryman. And I
got together a great meeting of protest.
5:7 Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, All of you exact interest, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them.
5:8 이르기를 우리는 이방인의 손에 팔린 우리 형제 유다 사람들을 우리의 힘을
다하여 속량하였거늘 너희는 너희 형제를 팔고자 하느냐 더구나 우리의 손에 팔리게
하겠느냐 하매 저희가 잠잠하여 말이 없기로
5:8 And I said to them, We have given whatever we were able to give, to make our brothers
the Jews free, who were servants and prisoners of the nations: and would you now
give up your brothers for a price, and are they to become our property? Then they
said nothing, answering not a word.
5:8 And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will all of you even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer.
5:9 내가 또 이르기를 너희의 소위가 좋지 못하도다 우리 대적 이방 사람의 비방을
생각하고 우리 하나님을 경외함에 행할 것이 아니냐
5:9 And I said, What you are doing is not good: is it not the more necessary for you
to go in the fear of our God, because of the shame which the nations may put on
us?
5:9 Also I said, It is not good that all of you do: ought all of you not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?
5:10 나와 내 형제와 종자들도 역시 돈과 곡식을 백성에게 취하여 주나니 우리가
그 이식 받기를 그치자
5:10 Even I and my servants have been taking interest for the money and the grain we
have let them have. So now, let us give up this thing.
5:10 I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this interest.
5:11 그런즉 너희는 오늘이라도 그 밭과 포도원과 감람원과 집이며 취한 바 돈이나
곡식이나 새 포도주나 기름의 백분지 일을 돌려보내라 하였더니
5:11 Give back to them this very day their fields, their vine-gardens, their olive-gardens,
and their houses, as well as a hundredth part of the money and the grain and the
wine and the oil which you have taken from them.
5:11 Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their olive yards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that all of you exact of them.
5:12 저희가 말하기를 우리가 당신의 말씀대로 행하여 돌려보내고 아무 것도
요구하지 아니하리이다 하기로 내가 제사장들을 불러 저희에게 그 말대로 행하리라는
맹세를 시키게 하고
5:12 Then they said, We will give them back, and take nothing for them; we will do as
you say. Then I sent for the priests and made them take an oath that they would
keep this agreement.
5:12 Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as you says. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.
5:13 내가 옷자락을 떨치며 이르기를 이 말대로 행치 아니하는 자는 하나님이
또한 이와 같이 그 집과 산업에서 떨치실지니 저는 곧 이렇게 떨쳐져 빌지로다 하매
회중이 다 아멘 하고 여호와를 찬송하고 백성들이 그 말한 대로 행하였느니라
5:13 And shaking out the folds of my robe, I said, So may God send out from his house
and his work every man who does not keep this agreement; even so let him be sent
out and made as nothing. And all the meeting of the people said, So be it, and gave
praise to the Lord. And the people did as they had said.
5:13 Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performs not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.
5:14 ○ 내가 유다 땅 총독으로 세움을 받은 때 곧 아닥사스다 왕 이십 년 부터
삼십 이 년까지 십 이 년 동안은 나와 내 형제가 총독의 녹을 먹지 아니하였느니라
5:14 Now from the time when I was made ruler of the people in the land of Judah, from
the twentieth year till the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes the king, for twelve
years, I and my servants have never taken the food which was the right of the ruler.
5:14 Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.
5:15 이전 총독들은 백성에게 토색하여 양식과 포도주와 또 은 사십 세겔을 취하였고
그 종자들도 백성을 압제하였으나 나는 하나님을 경외하므로 이같이 행치 아니하고
5:15 But earlier rulers who were before me made the people responsible for their upkeep,
and took from them bread and wine at the rate of forty shekels of silver; and even
their servants were lords over the people: but I did not do so, because of the fear
of God.
5:15 But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.
5:16 도리어 이 성 역사에 힘을 다하며 땅을 사지 아니하였고 나의 모든 종자도
모여서 역사를 하였으며
5:16 And I kept on with the work of this wall, and we got no land for ourselves: and
all my servants were helping with the work.
5:16 Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered thither unto the work.
5:17 또 내 상에는 유다 사람들과 민장들 일백 오십 인이 있고 그 외에도 우리
사면 이방인 중에서 우리에게 나아온 자들이 있었는데
5:17 And more than this, a hundred and fifty of the Jews and the rulers were guests at
my table, in addition to those who came to us from the nations round about us.
5:17 Moreover there were at my table an hundred and fifty of the Jews and rulers, beside those that came unto us from among the heathen that are about us.
5:18 매일 나를 위하여 소 하나와 살진 양 여섯을 준비하며 닭도 많이 준비하고
열흘에 한 번씩은 각종 포도주를 갖추었나니 비록 이같이 하였을지라도 내가 총독의
녹을 요구하지 아니하였음은 백성의 부역이 중함이니라
5:18 Now the food made ready for one day was one ox and six fat sheep, as well as fowls;
and once in ten days a store of all sorts of wine: but all the same, I did not take
the food to which the ruler had a right, because the people were crushed under a
hard yoke.
5:18 Now that which was prepared for me daily was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this required not I the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.
5:19 내 하나님이여 내가 이 백성을 위하여 행한 모든 일을 생각하시고 내게 은혜를
베푸시옵소서
5:19 Keep in mind, O my God, for my good, all I have done for this people.
5:19 Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.
6:1 산발랏과 도비야와 아라비아 사람 게셈과 그 나머지 우리의 대적이 내가 성을
건축하여 그 퇴락한 곳을 남기지 아니하였다 함을 들었는데 내가 아직 성문에 문짝을
달지 못한 때라
6:1 Now when word was given to Sanballat and Tobiah and to Geshem the Arabian and to
the rest of our haters, that I had done the building of the wall and that there
were no more broken places in it (though even then I had not put up the doors in
the doorways);
6:1 Now it came to pass when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had built the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)
6:2 산발랏과 게셈이 내게 보내어 이르기를 오라 우리가 오노 평지 한 촌에서
서로 만나자 하니 실상은 나를 해코자 함이라
6:2 Sanballat and Geshem sent to me saying, Come, let us have a meeting in one of the
little towns in the lowland of Ono. But their purpose was to do me evil.
6:2 That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.
6:3 내가 곧 저희에게 사자들을 보내어 이르기를 내가 이제 큰 역사를 하니 내려가지
못하겠노라 어찌하여 역사를 떠나 정지하게 하고 너희에게로 내려가겠느냐 하매
6:3 And I sent men to them saying, I am doing a great work, so that it is not possible
for me to come down: is the work to be stopped while I go away from it and come
down to you?
6:3 And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?
6:4 저희가 네 번이나 이같이 내게 보내되 나는 여전히 대답하였더니
6:4 And four times they sent to me in this way, and I sent them the same answer.
6:4 Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.
6:5 산발랏이 다섯 번째는 그 종자의 손에 봉하지 않은 편지를 들려 내게 보내었는데
6:5 Then Sanballat sent his servant to me a fifth time with an open letter in his hand;
6:5 Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand;
6:6 그 글에 이르기를 이방 중에도 소문이 있고 가스무도 말하기를 네가 유다
사람들로 더불어 모반하려 하여 성을 건축한다 하나니 네가 그 말과 같이 왕이 되려
하는도다
6:6 And in it these words were recorded: It is said among the nations, and Geshem says
so, that you and the Jews are hoping to make yourselves free from the king's authority;
and that this is why you are building the wall: and they say that it is your purpose
to be their king;
6:6 Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu says it, that you and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause you build the wall, that you may be their king, according to these words.
6:7 또 네가 선지자를 세워 예루살렘에서 너를 들어 선전하기를 유다에 왕이 있다
하게 하였으니 이 말이 왕에게 들릴지라 그런즉 너는 이제 오라 함께 의논하자 하였기로
6:7 And that you have prophets preaching about you in Jerusalem, and saying, There is
a king in Judah: now an account of these things will be sent to the king. So come
now, and let us have a discussion.
6:7 And you have also appointed prophets to preach of you at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.
6:8 내가 보내어 저에게 이르기를 너의 말한 바 이런 일은 없는 일이요 네 마음에서
지어낸 것이라 하였나니
6:8 Then I sent to him, saying, No such things as you say are being done, they are only
a fiction you have made up yourself.
6:8 Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as you says, but you feign them out of yours own heart.
6:9 이는 저희가 다 우리를 두렵게 하고자 하여 말하기를 저희 손이 피곤하여
역사를 정지하고 이루지 못하리라 함이라 이제 내 손을 힘있게 하옵소서 하였노라
6:9 For they were hoping to put fear in us, saying, Their hands will become feeble and
give up the work so that it may not get done. But now, O God, make my hands strong.
6:9 For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.
6:10 ○ 이 후에 므헤다벨의 손자 들라야의 아들 스마야가 두문불출하기로 내가
그 집에 가니 저가 이르기를 저희가 너를 죽이러 올 터이니 우리가 하나님의 전으로
가서 외소 안에 있고 그 문을 닫자 저희가 필연 밤에 와서 너를 죽이리라 하기로
6:10 And I went to the house of Shemaiah, the son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabel, who
was shut up; and he said, Let us have a meeting in the house of God, inside the
Temple, and let the doors be shut: for they will come to put you to death; truly,
in the night they will come to put you to death.
6:10 Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay you; yea, in the night will they come to slay you.
6:11 내가 이르기를 나 같은 자가 어찌 도망하며 나 같은 몸이면 누가 외소에
들어가서 생명을 보존하겠느냐 나는 들어가지 않겠노라 하고
6:11 And I said, Am I the sort of man to go in flight? what man, in my position, would
go into the Temple to keep himself safe? I will not go in.
6:11 And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.
6:12 깨달은즉 저는 하나님의 보내신 바가 아니라 도비야와 산발랏에게 뇌물을
받고 내게 이런 예언을 함이라
6:12 Then it became clear to me that God had not sent him: he had given this word of
a prophet against me himself: and Tobiah and Sanballat had given him money to do
so.
6:12 And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.
6:13 저희가 뇌물을 준 까닭은 나를 두렵게 하고 이렇게 함으로 범죄하게 하고
악한 말을 지어 나를 비방하려 함이었느니라
6:13 For this reason they had given him money, in order that I might be overcome by fear
and do what he said and do wrong, and so they would have reason to say evil about
me and put shame on me.
6:13 Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.
6:14 내 하나님이여 도비야와 산발랏과 여선지 노아댜와 그 남은 선지자들 무릇
나를 두렵게 하고자 한 자의 소위를 기억하옵소서 하였노라
6:14 Keep in mind, O my God, Tobiah and Sanballat and what they did, and Noadiah, the
woman prophet, and the rest of the prophets whose purpose was to put fear into me.
6:14 My God, think you upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.
6:15 ○ 성 역사가 오십 이 일 만에 엘룰월 이십 오 일에 끝나매
6:15 So the wall was complete on the twenty-fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty-two
days.
6:15 So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.
6:16 우리 모든 대적과 사면 이방 사람들이 이를 듣고 다 두려워하여 스스로 낙담하였으니
이는 이 역사를 우리 하나님이 이루신 것을 앎이니라
6:16 And when our haters had news of this, all the nations round about us were full of
fear and were greatly shamed, for they saw that this work had been done by our God.
6:16 And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.
6:17 그때에 유다의 귀인들이 여러 번 도비야에게 편지하였고 도비야의 편지도
저희에게 이르렀으니
6:17 And further, in those days the chiefs of Judah sent a number of letters to Tobiah,
and his letters came to them.
6:17 Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and the letters of Tobiah came unto them.
6:18 도비야는 아라의 아들 스가냐의 사위가 되었고 도비야의 아들 여호하난도
베레갸의 아들 므술람의 딸을 취하였으므로 유다에서 저와 동맹한 자가 많음이라
6:18 For in Judah there were a number of people who had made an agreement by oath with
him, because he was the son-in-law of Shecaniah, the son of Arah; and his son Jehohanan
had taken as his wife the daughter of Meshullam, the son of Berechiah.
6:18 For there were many in Judah sworn unto him, because he was the son in law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.
6:19 저희들이 도비야의 선행을 내 앞에 말하고 또 나의 말도 저에게 전하매 도비야가
항상 내게 편지하여 나를 두렵게 하고자 하였느니라
6:19 And they said much before me of the good he had done, and gave him accounts of my
words. And Tobiah sent letters with the purpose of causing me fear.
6:19 Also they reported his good deeds before me, and uttered my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.
7:1 성이 건축되매 문짝을 달고 문지기와 노래하는 자들과 레위 사람들을 세운 후에
7:1 Now when the building of the wall was complete and I had put up the doors, and the
door-keepers and the music-makers and the Levites had been given their places,
7:1 Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
7:2 내 아우 하나니와 영문의 관원 하나냐로 함께 예루살렘을 다스리게 하였는데
하나냐는 위인이 충성되어 하나님을 경외함이 무리에서 뛰어난 자라
7:2 I made my brother Hanani, and Hananiah, the ruler of the tower, responsible for
the government of Jerusalem: for he was a man of good faith, fearing God more than
most.
7:2 That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.
7:3 내가 저희에게 이르기를 해가 높이 뜨기 전에는 예루살렘 성문을 열지 말고
아직 파수할 때에 곧 문을 닫고 빗장을 지르며 또 예루살렘 거민으로 각각 반차를
따라 파수하되 자기 집 맞은편을 지키게 하라 하였노니
7:3 And I said to them, Do not let the doors of Jerusalem be open till the sun is high;
and while the watchmen are in their places, let the doors be shut and locked: and
let the people of Jerusalem be put on watch, every one in his watch, opposite his
house.
7:3 And I said unto them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar them: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one to be opposite to his house.
7:4 그 성은 광대하고 거민은 희소하여 가옥을 오히려 건축하지 못하였음이니라
7:4 Now the town was wide and great: but the people in it were only a small number,
and the houses had not been put up.
7:4 Now the city was large and great: but the people were few therein, and the houses were not built.
7:5 ○ 내 하나님이 내 마음을 감동하사 귀인들과 민장과 백성을 모아 그 보계대로
계수하게 하신 고로 내가 처음으로 돌아온 자의 보계를 얻었는데 거기 기록한 것을
보면
7:5 And my God put it into my heart to get together the rulers and the chiefs and the
people so that they might be listed by families. And I came across a record of the
names of those who came up at the first, and in it I saw these words:
7:5 And my God put into mine heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found a register of the genealogy of them which came up at the first, and found written therein,
7:6 옛적에 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살에게 사로잡혀 갔던 자 중에서 놓임을 받고 예루살렘과
유다로 돌아와 각기 본성에 이른 자 곧
7:6 These are the people of the divisions of the kingdom, among those who had been made
prisoners by Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, and taken away by him, who went
back to Jerusalem and Judah, every one to his town;
7:6 These are the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity, of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and came again to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one unto his city;

7:61 ○ 델멜라와 델하르사와 그룹과 앗돈과 임멜로부터 올라온 자가 있으나 그
종족과 보계가 이스라엘에 속하였는지는 증거할 수 없으니
7:61 All these were the people who went up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addon,
and Immer; but because they had no knowledge of their fathers' families or offspring,
it was not certain if they were Israelites:
7:61 And these were they which went up also from Telmelah, Telharesha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer: but they could not show their father's house, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel.

7:63 And of the priests: the children of Hobaiah, the children of Hakkoz, the children
of Barzillai, who was married to one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite,
and took their name.
7:63 And of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai, which took one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite to wife, and was called after their name.
7:64 이 사람들이 보계 중에서 자기 이름을 찾아도 얻지 못한 고로 저희를 부정하게
여겨 제사장의 직분을 행치 못하게 하고
7:64 They made search for their record among the lists of families, but their names were
nowhere to be seen, so they were looked on as unclean and no longer priests.
7:64 These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.
7:65 방백이 저희에게 명하여 우림과 둠밈을 가진 제사장이 일어나기 전에는 지성물을
먹지 말라 하였느니라
7:65 And the Tirshatha said that they were not to have the most holy things for their
food, till a priest came to give decision by the Urim and Thummim.

7:66 ○ 온 회중의 합계가 사만 이천 삼백 육십 명이요

thousand, three hundred and thirty-seven; and they had two hundred and forty-five
men and women to make music.

7:68 말이 칠백 삼십 육이요 노새가 이백 사십 오요
7:68 They had seven hundred and thirty-six horses, two hundred and forty-five transport
beasts;

7:69 약대가 사백 삼십 오요 나귀가 육천 칠백 이십이었느니라

7:70 ○ 어떤 족장들은 역사를 위하여 보조하였고 방백은 금 일천 다릭과 대접

7:70 And some of the heads of families gave money for the work. The Tirshatha gave into
the store a thousand darics of gold, fifty basins, five hundred and thirty priests'
robes.
7:70 And some of the chief of the fathers gave unto the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basons, five hundred and thirty priests' garments.
7:71 또 어떤 족장들은 금 이만 다릭과 은 이천 이백 마네를 역사 곳간에 드렸고
7:71 And some of the heads of families gave into the store for the work twenty thousand
darics of gold, and two thousand, two hundred pounds of silver.
7:71 And some of the chief of the fathers gave to the treasure of the work twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pound of silver.
7:72 그 나머지 백성은 금 이만 다릭과 은 이천 마네와 제사장의 의복 육십 칠
벌을 드렸느니라
7:72 And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand darics of gold, and
two thousand pounds of silver, and sixty-seven priests' robes.

7:73 ○ 이와 같이 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 문지기들과 노래하는 자들과 백성
몇 명과 느디님 사람들과 온 이스라엘이 다 그 본성에 거하였느니라
7:73 So the priests and the Levites and the door-keepers and the music-makers and some
of the people and the Nethinim, and all Israel, were living in their towns.
7:73 So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.
