1:1 論到從起初原有的生命之道、就是我們所聽見所看見、親眼看過、親手摸過的．
1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word (o. logos) of life;
1:2 （這生命已經顯現出來、我們也看見過、現在又作見證、將原與父同在、且顯現與我們那永遠的生命、傳給你們．）
1:2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
1:3 我們將所看見、所聽見的、傳給你們、使你們與我們相交、我們乃是與父並他兒子耶穌基督相交的．
1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that all of you also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
1:4 我們將這些話寫給你們、使你們〔有古卷作我們〕的喜樂充足。
1:4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
1:5 神就是光、在他毫無黑暗．這是我們從主所聽見、又報給你們的信息。
1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
1:6 我們若說是與 神相交、卻仍在黑暗裡行、就是說謊話、不行真理了．
1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1:7 我們若在光明中行、如同 神在光明中、就彼此相交、他兒子耶穌的血也洗淨我們一切的罪。
1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.
1:8 我們若說自己無罪、便是自欺、真理不在我們心裡了。
1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1:9 我們若認自己的罪、 神是信實的、是公義的、必要赦免我們的罪、洗淨我們一切的不義。
1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1:10 我們若說自己沒有犯過罪、便是以 神為說謊的．他的道也不在我們心裡了。
1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word (o. logos) is not in us.
2:1 我小子們哪、我將這些話寫給你們、是要叫你們不犯罪。若有人犯罪、在父那裡我們有一位中保、就是那義者耶穌基督．
2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that all of you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2:2 他為我們的罪作了挽回祭．不是單為我們的罪、也是為普天下人的罪。
2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
2:3 我們若遵守他的誡命、就曉得是認識他。
2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
2:4 人若說我認識他、卻不遵守他的誡命、便是說謊話的、真理也不在他心裡了。
2:4 He that says, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
2:5 凡遵守主道的、愛 神的心在他裡面實在是完全的、從此我們知道我們是在主裡面．
2:5 But whoso keeps his word, (o. logos) in him verily is the love (o. agape) of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
2:6 人若說他住在主裡面、就該自己照主所行的去行。
2:6 He that says he abides in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
2:7 親愛的弟兄阿、我寫給你們的、不是一條新命令、乃是你們從起初所受的舊命令．這舊命令就是你們所聽見的道。
2:7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which all of you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word (o. logos) which all of you have heard from the beginning.
2:8 再者、我寫給你們的是一條新命令、在主是真的、在你們也是真的．因為黑暗漸漸過去、真光已經照耀。
2:8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shines.
2:9 人若說自己在光明中、卻恨他的弟兄、他到如今還是在黑暗裡。
2:9 He that says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness even until now.
2:10 愛弟兄的就是住在光明中、在他並沒有絆跌的緣由。
2:10 He that loves his brother abides in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
2:11 惟獨恨弟兄的是在黑暗裡、且在黑暗裡行、也不知道往那裡去、因為黑暗叫他眼睛瞎了。
2:11 But he that hates his brother is in darkness, and walks in darkness, and knows not where he goes, because that darkness has blinded his eyes.
2:12 小子們哪、我寫信給你們、因為你們的罪藉著主名得了赦免。
2:12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
2:13 父老阿、我寫信給你們、因為你們認識那從起初原有的。少年人哪、我寫信給你們、因為你們勝了那惡者。小子們哪、我曾寫信給你們、因為你們認識父。
2:13 I write unto you, fathers, because all of you have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because all of you have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because all of you have known the Father.
2:14 父老阿、我曾寫信給你們、因為你們認識那從起初原有的。少年人哪、我曾寫信給你們、因為你們剛強、 神的道常存在你們心裡、你們也勝了那惡者。
2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because all of you have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because all of you are strong, and the word (o. logos) of God abides in you, and all of you have overcome the wicked one.
2:15 不要愛世界、和世界上的事。人若愛世界、愛父的心就不在他裡面了。
2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love (o. agape) of the Father is not in him.
2:16 因為凡世界上的事、就像肉體的情慾、眼目的情慾、並今生的驕傲、都不是從父來的、乃是從世界來的。
2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
2:17 這世界、和其上的情慾、都要過去．惟獨遵行 神旨意的、是永遠常存。
2:17 And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God abides for ever.
2:18 小子們哪、如今是末時了．你們曾聽見說、那敵基督的要來、現在已經有好些敵基督的出來了．從此我們就知道如今是末時了。
2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as all of you have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
2:19 他們從我們中間出去、卻不是屬我們的．若是屬我們的、就必仍舊與我們同在．他們出去、顯明都不是屬我們的。
2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
2:20 你們從那聖者受了恩膏、並且知道這一切的事。〔或作都有知識〕
2:20 But all of you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know all things.
2:21 我寫信給你們、不是因你們不知道真理、正是因你們知道、並且知道沒有虛謊是從真理出來的。
2:21 I have not written unto you because all of you know not the truth, but because all of you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
2:22 誰是說謊話的呢．不是那不認耶穌為基督的麼．不認父與子的、這就是敵基督的。
2:22 Who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denies the Father and the Son.
2:23 凡不認子的就沒有父．認子的連父也有了。
2:23 Whosoever denies the Son, the same has not the Father: he that acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
2:24 論到你們、務要將那從起初所聽見的常存在心裡．若將從起初所聽見的存在心裡、你們就必住在子裡面、也必住在父裡面。
2:24 Let that therefore abide in you, which all of you have heard from the beginning. If that which all of you have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, all of you also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
2:25 主所應許我們的就是永生。
2:25 And this is the promise that he has promised us, even eternal life.
2:26 我將這些話寫給你們、是指著那引誘你們的人說的。
2:26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
2:27 你們從主所受的恩膏、常存在你們心裡、並不用人教訓你們．自有主的恩膏在凡事上教訓你們．這恩膏是真的、不是假的．你們要按這恩膏的教訓、住在主裡面。
2:27 But the anointing which all of you have received of him abides in you, and all of you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it has taught you, all of you shall abide in him.
2:28 小子們哪、你們要住在主裡面．這樣、他若顯現、我們就可以坦然無懼．當他來的時候、在他面前也不至於慚愧。
2:28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
2:29 你們若知道他是公義的、就知道凡行公義之人都是他所生的。
2:29 If all of you know that he is righteous, all of you know that every one that does righteousness is born of him.
3:1 你看父賜給我們是何等的慈愛、使我們得稱為 神的兒女．我們也真是他的兒女．世人所以不認識我們、是因未曾認識他。
3:1 Behold, what manner of love (o. agape) the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knows us not, because it knew him not.
3:2 親愛的弟兄阿、我們現在是 神的兒女、將來如何、還未顯明．但我們知道主若顯現、我們必要像他．因為必得見他的真體。
3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3:3 凡向他有這指望的、就潔淨自己、像他潔淨一樣。
3:3 And every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
3:4 凡犯罪的、就是違背律法．違背律法就是罪。
3:4 Whosoever commits sin trangresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
3:5 你們知道主曾顯現、是要除掉人的罪．在他並沒有罪。
3:5 And all of you know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
3:6 凡住在他裡面的、就不犯罪．凡犯罪的、是未曾看見他、也未曾認識他。
3:6 Whosoever abides in him sins not: whosoever sins has not seen him, neither known him.
3:7 小子們哪、不要被人誘惑、行義的纔是義人．正如主是義的一樣。
3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
3:8 犯罪的是屬魔鬼、因為魔鬼從起初就犯罪。 神的兒子顯現出來、為要除滅魔鬼的作為。
3:8 He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
3:9 凡從 神生的、就不犯罪、因 神的道〔原文作種〕存在他心裡．他也不能犯罪、因為他是由 神生的。
3:9 Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
3:10 從此就顯出誰是 神的兒女、誰是魔鬼的兒女．凡不行義的、就不屬 神．不愛弟兄的也是如此。
3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.
3:11 我們應當彼此相愛．這就是你們從起初所聽見的命令。
3:11 For this is the message that all of you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
3:12 不可像該隱．他是屬那惡者、殺了他的兄弟。為甚麼殺了他呢．因自己的行為是惡的、兄弟的行為是善的。
3:12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
3:13 弟兄們、世人若恨你們、不要以為希奇。
3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
3:14 我們因為愛弟兄、就曉得是已經出死入生了。沒有愛心的、仍住在死中。
3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loves not his brother abides in death.
3:15 凡恨他弟兄的、就是殺人的．你們曉得凡殺人的、沒有永生存在他裡面。
3:15 Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer: and all of you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
3:16 主為我們捨命、我們從此就知道何為愛．我們也當為弟兄捨命。
3:16 Hereby perceive we the love (o. agape) of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
3:17 凡有世上財物的、看見弟兄窮乏、卻塞住憐恤的心、愛 神的心怎能存在他裡面呢。
3:17 But whoso has this world's good, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwells the love (o. agape) of God in him?
3:18 小子們哪、我們相愛、不要只在言語和舌頭上．總要在行為和誠實上。
3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, (o. logos) neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
3:19 從此、就知道我們是屬真理的、並且我們的心在 神面前可以安穩。
3:19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
3:20 我們的心若責備我們、 神比我們的心大、一切事沒有不知道的。
3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
3:21 親愛的弟兄阿、我們的心若不責備我們、就可以向 神坦然無懼了．
3:21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
3:22 並且我們一切所求的、就從他得著．因為我們遵守他的命令、行他所喜悅的事。
3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
3:23 神的命令就是叫我們信他兒子耶穌基督的名、且照他所賜給我們的命令彼此相愛。
3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
3:24 遵守 神命令的、就住在 神裡面． 神也住在他裡面。我們所以知道 神住在我們裡面、是因他所賜給我們的聖靈。
3:24 And he that keeps his commandments dwells in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit (o. pneuma) which he has given us.
4:1 親愛的弟兄阿、一切的靈、你們不可都信．總要試驗那些靈是出於 神的不是．因為世上有許多假先知已經出來了。
4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, (o. pneuma) but try the spirits (o. pneuma) whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
4:2 凡靈認耶穌基督是成了肉身來的、就是出於 神的．從此你們可以認出 神的靈來。
4:2 Hereby know all of you the Spirit (o. pneuma) of God: Every spirit (o. pneuma) that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God:
4:3 凡靈不認耶穌、就不是出於 神．這是那敵基督者的靈．你們從前聽見他要來．現在已經在世上了。
4:3 And every spirit (o. pneuma) that confesses not that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof all of you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4:4 小子們哪、你們是屬 神的、並且勝了他們．因為那在你們裡面的、比那在世界上的更大。
4:4 All of you are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
4:5 他們是屬世界的．所以論世界的事、世人也聽從他們。
4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world hears them.
4:6 我們是屬 神的．認識 神的就聽從我們．不屬 神的就不聽從我們．從此我們可以認出真理的靈、和謬妄的靈來。
4:6 We are of God: he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God hears not us. Hereby know we the spirit (o. pneuma) of truth, and the spirit (o. pneuma) of error.
4:7 親愛的弟兄阿、我們應當彼此相愛．因為愛是從 神來的．凡有愛心的、都是由 神而生、並且認識 神。
4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love (o. agape) is of God; and every one that loves is born of God, and knows God.
4:8 沒有愛心的、就不認識 神．因為 神就是愛。
4:8 He that loves not knows not God; for God is love. (o. agape)
4:9 神差他獨生子到世間來、使我們藉著他得生、 神愛我們的心、在此就顯明了。
4:9 In this was manifested the love (o. agape) of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
4:10 不是我們愛 神、乃是 神愛我們、差他的兒子、為我們的罪作了挽回祭、這就是愛了。
4:10 Herein is love, (o. agape) not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
4:11 親愛的弟兄阿、 神既是這樣愛我們、我們也當彼此相愛。
4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
4:12 從來沒有人見過 神．我們若彼此相愛、 神就住在我們裡面、愛他的心在我們裡面得以完全了．
4:12 No man has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and his love (o. agape) is perfected in us.
4:13 神將他的靈賜給我們、從此就知道我們是住在他裡面、他也住在我們裡面。
4:13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. (o. pneuma)
4:14 父差子作世人的救主、這是我們所看見且作見證的。
4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
4:15 凡認耶穌為 神兒子的、 神就住在他裡面、他也住在 神裡面。
4:15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him, and he in God.
4:16 神愛我們的心、我們也知道也信。 神就是愛．住在愛裡面的、就是住在 神裡面、 神也住在他裡面。
4:16 And we have known and believed the love (o. agape) that God has to us. God is love; (o. agape) and he that dwells in love (o. agape) dwells in God, and God in him.
4:17 這樣、愛在我們裡面得以完全、我們就可以在審判的日子、坦然無懼．因為他如何、我們在這世上也如何。
4:17 Herein is our love (o. agape) made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
4:18 愛裡沒有懼怕．愛既完全、就把懼怕除去．因為懼怕裡含著刑罰．懼怕的人在愛裡未得完全。
4:18 There is no fear in love; (o. agape) but perfect love (o. agape) casts out fear: because fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love. (o. agape)
4:19 我們愛、因為 神先愛我們。
4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.
4:20 人若說、我愛 神、卻恨他的弟兄、就是說謊話的．不愛他所看見的弟兄、就不能愛沒有看見的 神。〔有古卷作怎能愛沒有看見的 神呢〕
4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?
4:21 愛 神的、也當愛弟兄、這是我們從 神所受的命令。
4:21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loves God love his brother also.
5:1 凡信耶穌是基督的、都是從 神而生．凡愛生他之 神的、也必愛從 神生的。
5:1 Whosoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loves him that brings forth loves him also that is begotten of him.
5:2 我們若愛 神、又遵守他的誡命、從此就知道我們愛 神的兒女。
5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
5:3 我們遵守 神的誡命、這就是愛他了．並且他的誡命不是難守的。
5:3 For this is the love (o. agape) of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
5:4 因為凡從 神生的、就勝過世界．使我們勝了世界的、就是我們的信心。
5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.
5:5 勝過世界的是誰呢．不是那信耶穌是 神兒子的麼．
5:5 Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
5:6 這藉著水和血而來的就是耶穌基督．不是單用水、乃是用水又用血。
5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit (o. pneuma) that bears witness, because the Spirit (o. pneuma) is truth.
5:7 並且有聖靈作見證、因為聖靈就是真理。
5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, (o. logos) and the Holy Spirit: (o. pneuma) and these three are one.
5:8 作見證的原來有三、就是聖靈、水、與血這三樣也都歸於一。
5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, (o. pneuma) and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
5:9 我們既領受人的見證、 神的見證更該領受了．〔該領受原文作大〕因 神的見證、是為他兒子作的。
5:9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he has testified of his Son.
5:10 信 神兒子的、就有這見證在他心裡．不信 神的、就是將 神當作說謊的．因不信 神為他兒子作的見證。
5:10 He that believes on the Son of God has the witness in himself: he that believes not God has made him a liar; because he believes not the record that God gave of his Son.
5:11 這見證、就是 神賜給我們永生、這永生也是在他兒子裡面。
5:11 And this is the record, that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
5:12 人有了 神的兒子就有生命．沒有 神的兒子就沒有生命。
5:12 He that has the Son has life; and he that has not the Son of God has not life.
5:13 我將這些話寫給你們信奉 神兒子之名的人、要叫你們知道自己有永生。
5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that all of you may know that all of you have eternal life, and that all of you may believe on the name of the Son of God.
5:14 我們若照他的旨意求甚麼、他就聽我們．這是我們向他所存坦然無懼的心。
5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us:
5:15 既然知道他聽我們一切所求的、就知道我們所求於他的無不得著。
5:15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
5:16 人若看見弟兄犯了不至於死的罪、就當為他祈求、 神必將生命賜給他．有至於死的罪、我不說當為這罪祈求。
5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
5:17 凡不義的事都是罪．也有不至於死的罪。
5:17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
5:18 我們知道凡從 神生的必不犯罪．從 神生的必保守自己、〔有古卷作那從 神生的必保護他〕那惡者也就無法害他。
5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sins not; but he that is begotten of God keeps himself, and that wicked one touches him not.
5:19 我們知道我們是屬 神的、全世界都臥在那惡者手下。
5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in wickedness.
5:20 我們也知道 神的兒子已經來到、且將智慧賜給我們、使我們認識那位真實的、我們也在那位真實的裡面、就是在他兒子耶穌基督裡面。這是真 神、也是永
5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
1:1 作長老的寫信給蒙揀選的太太、〔太太或作教會下同〕和他的兒女、就是我誠心所愛的．不但我愛、也是一切知道真理之人所愛的．
1:1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
1:2 愛你們是為真理的緣故、這真理存在我們裡面、也必永遠與我們同在．
1:2 For the truth's sake, which dwells in us, and shall be with us for ever.
1:3 恩惠、憐憫、平安、從父 神和他兒子耶穌基督、在真理和愛心上、必常與我們同在。
1:3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. (o. agape)
1:4 我見你的兒女、有照我們從父所受之命令遵行真理的、就甚歡喜。
1:4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of your children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.
1:5 太太阿、我現在勸你、我們大家要彼此相愛．這並不是我寫一條新命令給你、乃是我們從起初所受的命令。
1:5 And now I plead to you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto you, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
1:6 我們若照他的命令行、這就是愛。你們從起初所聽見當行的、就是這命令。
1:6 And this is love, (o. agape) that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as all of you have heard from the beginning, all of you should walk in it.
1:7 因為世上有許多迷惑人的出來、他們不認耶穌基督是成了肉身來的．這就是那迷惑人、敵基督的。
1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
1:8 你們要小心、不要失去你們〔有古卷作我們〕所作的工、乃要得著滿足的賞賜。
1:8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
1:9 凡越過基督的教訓、不常守著的、就沒有 神．常守這教訓的、就有父又有子。
1:9 Whosoever trangresses, and abides not in the doctrine of Christ, has not God. He that abides in the doctrine of Christ, he has both the Father and the Son.
1:10 若有人到你們那裡、不是傳這教訓、不要接他到家裡、也不要問他的安．
1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
1:11 因為問他安的、就在他的惡行上有分。
1:11 For he that bids him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
1:12 我還有許多事要寫給你們、卻不願意用紙墨寫出來．但盼望到你們那裡、與你們當面談論、使你們的喜樂滿足。
1:12 Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
1:13 你那蒙揀選之姊妹的兒女都問你安。
1:13 The children of your elect sister greet you. Amen.
1:1 作長老的寫信給親愛的該猶、就是我誠心所愛的。
1:1 The elder unto the beloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
1:2 親愛的兄弟阿、我願你凡事興盛、身體健壯、正如你的靈魂興盛一樣。
1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.
1:3 有弟兄來證明你心裡存的真理、正如你按真理而行、我就甚喜樂。
1:3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, even as you walk in the truth.
1:4 我聽見我的兒女們按真理而行、我的喜樂就沒有比這個大的。
1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
1:5 親愛的兄弟阿、凡你向作客旅之弟兄所行的、都是忠心的．
1:5 Beloved, you do faithfully whatsoever you do to the brethren, and to strangers;
1:6 他們在教會面前證明了你的愛．你若配得過 神、幫助他們往前行、這就好了．
1:6 Which have borne witness of your love (o. agape) before the church: whom if you bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, you shall do well:
1:7 因他們是為主的名〔原文作那名〕出外、對於外邦人一無所取。
1:7 Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
1:8 所以我們應該接待這樣的人、叫我們與他們一同為真理作工。
1:8 We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellow-helpers to the truth.
1:9 我曾略略的寫信給教會．但那在教會中好為首的丟特腓不接待我們。
1:9 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, receives us not.
1:10 所以我若去、必要提說他所行的事、就是他用惡言妄論我們．還不以此為足、他自己不接待弟兄、有人願意接待、他也禁止、並且將接待弟兄的人趕出教會。
1:10 Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he does, babbling against us with malicious words: (o. logos) and not content therewith, neither does he himself receive the brethren, and forbids them that would, and casts them out of the church.
1:11 親愛的兄弟阿、不要效法惡、只要效法善。行善的屬乎 神．行惡的未曾見過 神。
1:11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that does good is of God: but he that does evil has not seen God.
1:12 低米丟行善、有眾人給他作見證．又有真理給他作見證．就是我們也給他作見證．你也知道我們的見證是真的。
1:12 Demetrius has good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and all of you know that our record is true.
1:13 我原有許多事要寫給你、卻不願意用筆墨寫給你．
1:13 I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto you:
1:14 但盼望快快的見你、我們就當面談論．
1:14 But I trust I shall shortly see you, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to you. Our friends salute you. Greet the friends by name.
1:15 願你平安。眾位朋友都問你安。請你替我按著姓名問眾位朋友安。
