13:1 Im dreiundzwanzigsten Jahr des Joas, des Sohnes Ahasjas, des Königs Juda's, ward Joahas, der Sohn Jehus, König über Israel zu Samaria siebzehn Jahre;
13:1 In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years.
13:2 und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, und wandelte nach den Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, der Israel sündigen machte, und ließ nicht davon.
13:2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not from it.
13:3 Und des HERRN Zorn ergrimmte über Israel, und er gab sie in die Hand Hasaels, des Königs von Syrien, und Benhadads, des Sohnes Hasaels, die ganze Zeit. {~}
13:3 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, all their days.
13:4 Aber Joahas bat des HERRN Angesucht. Und der HERR erhörte ihn; denn er sah den Jammer Israels an, wie sie der König von Syrien drängte.
13:4 And Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.
13:5 Und der HERR gab Israel einen Heiland, der sie aus der Gewalt der Syrer führte, daß die Kinder Israel in ihren Hütten wohnten wie zuvor.
13:5 (And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as in time past.
13:6 Doch sie ließen nicht von der Sünde des Hauses Jerobeams, der Israel sündigen machte, sondern wandelten darin. Auch blieb stehen das Ascherabild zu Samaria.
13:6 Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked therein: and there remained the grove also in Samaria.)
13:7 Denn es war des Volks des Joahas nicht mehr übriggeblieben als fünfzig Reiter, zehn Wagen und zehntausend Mann Fußvolk. Denn der König von Syrien hatte sie umgebracht und hatte sie gemacht wie Staub beim Dreschen.
13:7 Neither did he leave of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.
13:8 Was aber mehr von Joahas zu sagen ist und alles, was er getan hat, und seine Macht, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Israels.
13:8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
13:9 Und Joahas entschlief mit seinen Vätern, und man begrub ihn zu Samaria. Und sein Sohn Joas ward König an seiner Statt.
13:9 And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria: and Joash his son reigned in his position.
13:10 Im siebenunddreißigsten Jahr des Joas, des Königs in Juda, ward Joas, der Sohn Joahas, König über Israel zu Samaria sechzehn Jahre;
13:10 In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteen years.
13:11 und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, und ließ nicht von allen Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, der Israel sündigen machte, sondern wandelte darin.
13:11 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin: but he walked therein.
13:12 Was aber mehr von Joas zu sagen ist und was er getan hat und seine Macht, wie er mit Amazja, dem König Juda's, gestritten hat, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Israels.
13:12 And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
13:13 Und Joas entschlief mit seinen Vätern, und Jerobeam saß auf seinem Stuhl. Joas aber ward begraben zu Samaria bei den Königen Israels.
13:13 And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat upon his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
13:14 Elisa aber war krank, daran er auch starb. Und Joas, der König Israels, kam zu ihm hinab und weinte vor ihm und sprach: Mein Vater, mein Vater! Wagen Israels und seine Reiter!
13:14 Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.
13:15 Elisa aber sprach zu ihm: Nimm Bogen und Pfeile! Und da er den Bogen und die Pfeile nahm,
13:15 And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.
13:16 sprach er zum König Israels: Spanne mit deiner Hand den Bogen! Und er spannte mit seiner Hand. Und Elisa legte seine Hand auf des Königs Hand
13:16 And he said to the king of Israel, Put yours hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands.
13:17 und sprach: Tu das Fenster auf gegen Morgen! Und er tat's auf. Und Elisa sprach: Schieß! Und er schoß. Er aber sprach: Ein Pfeil des Heils vom HERRN, ein Pfeil des Heils wider die Syrer; und du wirst die Syrer schlagen zu Aphek, bis sie aufgerieben sind.
13:17 And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for you shall strike the Syrians in Aphek, till you have consumed them.
13:18 Und er sprach: Nimm die Pfeile! Und da er sie nahm, sprach er zum König Israels: Schlage die Erde! Und er schlug dreimal und stand still.
13:18 And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Strike upon the ground. And he stroke three times, and stayed.
13:19 Da ward der Mann Gottes zornig auf ihn und sprach: Hättest du fünf-oder sechsmal geschlagen, so würdest du die Syrer geschlagen haben, bis sie aufgerieben wären; nun aber wirst du sie dreimal schlagen.
13:19 And the man of God was angry with him, and said, You should have smitten five or six times; then had you smitten Syria till you had consumed it: whereas now you shall strike Syria but three times.
13:20 Da aber Elisa gestorben war und man ihn begraben hatte, fielen die Kriegsleute der Moabiter ins Land desselben Jahres.
13:20 And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.
13:21 Und es begab sich, daß man einen Mann begrub; da sie aber die Kriegsleute sahen, warfen sie den Mann in Elisas Grab. Und da er hinabkam und die Gebeine Elisas berührte, ward er lebendig und trat auf seine Füße.
13:21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the tomb of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
13:22 Also zwang nun Hasael, der König von Syrien, Israel, solange Joahas lebte.
13:22 But Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
13:23 Aber der HERR tat ihnen Gnade und erbarmte sich ihrer und wandte sich zu ihnen um seines Bundes willen mit Abraham, Isaak und Jakob und wollte sie nicht verderben, verwarf sie auch nicht von seinem Angesicht bis auf diese Stunde.
13:23 And the LORD was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.
13:24 Und Hasael, der König von Syrien, starb, und sein Sohn Benhadad ward König an seiner Statt.
13:24 So Hazael king of Syria died; and Benhadad his son reigned in his position.
13:25 Joas aber nahm wieder die Städte aus der Hand Benhadads, des Sohnes Hasaels, die er aus der Hand seines Vaters Joahas genommen hatte im Streit. Dreimal schlug ihn Joas und brachte die Städte Israels wieder. {~} {~}
13:25 And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Joash beat him, and recovered the cities of Israel.

14:1 Im zweiten Jahr des Joas, des Sohnes des Joahas, des Königs über Israel, ward Amazja König, der Sohn des Joas, des Königs in Juda.
14:1 In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah.
14:2 Fünfundzwanzig Jahre alt war er, da er König ward, und regierte neunundzwanzig Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Joaddan von Jerusalem.
14:2 He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
14:3 Und er tat, was dem HERRN wohl gefiel, doch nicht wie sein Vater David; sondern wie sein Vater Joas tat er auch. {~}
14:3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did.
14:4 Denn die Höhen wurden nicht abgetan; sondern das Volk opferte und räucherte noch auf den Höhen.
14:4 Nevertheless the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.
14:5 Da er nun seines Königreiches mächtig ward, schlug er seine Knechte, die seinen Vater, den König geschlagen hatten.
14:5 And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.
14:6 Aber die Kinder der Totschläger tötete er nicht, wie es denn geschrieben steht im Gesetzbuch Mose's, da der HERR geboten hat und gesagt: Die Väter sollen nicht um der Kinder willen sterben, und die Kinder sollen nicht um der Väter willen sterben; sondern ein jeglicher soll um seiner Sünde sterben.
14:6 But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
14:7 Er schlug auch die Edomiter im Salztal zehntausend und gewann die Stadt Sela mit Streit und hieß sie Joktheel bis auf diesen Tag.
14:7 He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.
14:8 Da sandte Amazja Boten zu Joas, dem Sohn des Joahas, des Sohnes Jehus, dem König über Israel, und ließ ihm sagen: Komm her, wir wollen uns miteinander messen!
14:8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.
14:9 Aber Joas, der König Israels, sandte zu Amazja, dem König Juda's und ließ ihm sagen: Der Dornstrauch, der im Libanon ist, sandte zur Zeder im Libanon und ließ ihr sagen: Gib deine Tochter meinem Sohn zum Weibe! Aber das Wild auf dem Felde im Libanon lief über den Dornstrauch und zertrat ihn.
14:9 And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give your daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.
14:10 Du hast die Edomiter geschlagen; des überhebt sich dein Herz. Habe den Ruhm und bleibe daheim! Warum ringst du nach Unglück, daß du fällst und Juda mit dir?
14:10 You have indeed smitten Edom, and yours heart has lifted you up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why should you meddle to your hurt, that you should fall, even you, and Judah with you?
14:11 Aber Amazja gehorchte nicht. Da zog Joas, der König Israels, herauf; und sie maßen sich miteinander, er und Amazja, der König Juda's, zu Beth-Semes, das in Juda liegt.
14:11 But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Bethshemesh, which belongs to Judah.
14:12 Aber Juda ward geschlagen vor Israel, daß ein jeglicher floh in seine Hütte.
14:12 And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents.
14:13 Und Joas, der König Israels, griff Amazja, den König in Juda, den Sohn des Joas, des Sohnes Ahasjas, zu Beth-Semes und kam gen Jerusalem und riß ein die Mauer Jerusalems von dem Tor Ephraim bis an das Ecktor, vierhundert Ellen lang,
14:13 And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Bethshemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
14:14 und nahm alles Gold und Silber und Gerät, das gefunden ward im Hause des HERRN und im Schatz des Königshauses, dazu die Geiseln, und zog wieder gen Samaria.
14:14 And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.
14:15 Was aber mehr von Joas zu sagen ist, was er getan hat, und seine Macht, und wie er mit Amazja, dem König Juda's gestritten hat, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Israels.
14:15 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
14:16 Und Joas entschlief mit seinen Vätern und ward begraben zu Samaria unter den Königen Israels. Und sein Sohn Jerobeam ward König an seiner Statt.
14:16 And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his position.
14:17 Amazja aber, der Sohn des Joas, des Königs in Juda, lebte nach dem Tod des Joas, des Sohnes des Joahas, des Königs über Israel, fünfzehn Jahre.
14:17 And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
14:18 Was aber mehr von Amazja zu sagen ist, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Juda's.
14:18 And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
14:19 Und sie machten einen Bund wider ihn zu Jerusalem; er aber floh gen Lachis. Und sie sandten hin, ihm nach, gen Lachis und töteten in daselbst.
14:19 Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
14:20 Und sie brachten ihn auf Rossen, und er ward begraben zu Jerusalem bei seinen Vätern in der Stadt Davids.
14:20 And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
14:21 Und das ganze Volk Juda's nahm Asarja in seinem sechzehnten Jahr und machten ihn zum König anstatt seines Vaters Amazja.
14:21 And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.
14:22 Er baute Elath und brachte es wieder zu Juda, nachdem der König mit seinen Vätern entschlafen war.
14:22 He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
14:23 Im fünfzehnten Jahr Amazjas, des Sohnes Joas, des Königs in Juda, ward Jerobeam, der Sohn des Joas, König über Israel zu Samaria einundvierzig Jahre; {~} {~}
14:23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.
14:24 Und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, und ließ nicht ab von den Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, der Israel sündigen machte.
14:24 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
14:25 Er aber brachte wieder herzu das Gebiet Israels von Hamath an bis an das Meer, das im blachen Felde liegt, nach dem Wort des HERRN, das er geredet hatte durch seinen Knecht Jona, den Sohn Amitthais, den Propheten, der von Gath-Hepher war. {~} {~}
14:25 He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spoke by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gathhepher.
14:26 Denn der HERR sah an den elenden Jammer Israels, daß auch die Verschlossenen und Verlassenen dahin waren und kein Helfer war in Israel.
14:26 For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.
14:27 Und der HERR hatte nicht geredet, daß er wollte den Namen Israels austilgen unter dem Himmel, und half ihnen durch Jerobeam, den Sohn des Joas.
14:27 And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
14:28 Was aber mehr von Jerobeam zu sagen ist und alles, was er getan hat, und seine Macht, wie er gestritten hat, und wie er Damaskus und Hamath wiedergebracht an Juda in Israel, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Israels.
14:28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
14:29 Und Jerobeam entschlief mit seinen Vätern, mit den Königen Israels. Und sein Sohn Sacharja ward König an seiner Statt.
14:29 And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his son reigned in his position.

15:1 Im siebenundzwanzigsten Jahr Jerobeams, des Königs Israels, ward König Asarja, der Sohn Amazjas, des Königs Juda's;
15:1 In the twenty and seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel began Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah to reign.
15:2 und er war sechzehn Jahre alt, da er König ward, und regierte zweiundfünfzig Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Jecholja von Jerusalem.
15:2 Sixteen years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned two and fifty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.
15:3 Und er tat, was dem HERRN wohl gefiel, ganz wie sein Vater Amazja, {~}
15:3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah had done;
15:4 nur, daß sie die Höhen nicht abtaten; denn das Volk opferte und räucherte noch auf den Höhen.
15:4 Save that the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burnt incense still on the high places.
15:5 Der HERR aber plagte den König, daß er aussätzig war bis an seinen Tod, und wohnte in einem besonderen Hause. Jotham aber, des Königs Sohn, regierte das Haus und richtete das Volk im Lande.
15:5 And the LORD stroke the king, so that he was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house. And Jotham the king's son was over the house, judging the people of the land.
15:6 Was aber mehr von Asarja zu sagen ist und alles, was er getan hat, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Juda's.
15:6 And the rest of the acts of Azariah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
15:7 Und Asarja entschlief mit seinen Vätern, und man begrub ihn bei seinen Vätern in der Stadt Davids. Und sein Sohn Jotham ward König an seiner Statt.
15:7 So Azariah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Jotham his son reigned in his position.
15:8 Im achtunddreißigsten Jahr Asarjas, des Königs Juda's, ward König Sacharja, der Sohn Jerobeams, über Israel zu Samaria sechs Monate;
15:8 In the thirty and eighth year of Azariah king of Judah did Zachariah the son of Jeroboam reign over Israel in Samaria six months.
15:9 und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, wie seine Väter getan hatten. Er ließ nicht ab von den Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, der Israel sündigen machte.
15:9 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his fathers had done: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
15:10 Und Sallum, der Sohn des Jabes, machte einen Bund wider ihn und schlug ihn vor dem Volk und tötete ihn und ward König an seiner Statt.
15:10 And Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him, and stroke him before the people, and slew him, and reigned in his position.
15:11 Was aber mehr von Sacharja zu sagen ist, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Israels.
15:11 And the rest of the acts of Zachariah, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
15:12 Und das ist's, was der HERR zu Jehu geredet hatte: Dir sollen Kinder ins vierte Glied sitzen auf dem Stuhl Israels. Und ist also geschehen.
15:12 This was the word of the LORD which he spoke unto Jehu, saying, Your sons shall sit on the throne of Israel unto the fourth generation. And so it came to pass.
15:13 Sallum aber, der Sohn des Jabes, ward König im neununddreißigsten Jahr Usias, des Königs in Juda, und regierte einen Monat zu Samaria.
15:13 Shallum the son of Jabesh began to reign in the nine and thirtieth year of Uzziah king of Judah; and he reigned a full month in Samaria.
15:14 Denn Menahem, der Sohn Gadis, zog herauf von Thirza und kam gen Samaria und schlug Sallum, den Sohn des Jabes, zu Samaria und tötete ihn und ward König an seiner Statt.
15:14 For Menahem the son of Gadi went up from Tirzah, and came to Samaria, and stroke Shallum the son of Jabesh in Samaria, and slew him, and reigned in his position.
15:15 Was aber mehr von Sallum zu sagen ist und seinen Bund, den er anrichtete, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Israels.
15:15 And the rest of the acts of Shallum, and his conspiracy which he made, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
15:16 Dazumal schlug Menahem Tiphsah und alle, die darin waren, und ihr Gebiet von Thirza aus, darum daß sie ihn nicht wollten einlassen, und schlug alle ihre Schwangeren und zerriß sie.
15:16 Then Menahem stroke Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and the coasts thereof from Tirzah: because they opened not to him, therefore he stroke it; and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up.
15:17 Im neununddreißigsten Jahr Asarjas, des Königs Juda's, ward König Menahem, der Sohn Gadis, über Israel zu Samaria; {~} {~} {~}
15:17 In the nine and thirtieth year of Azariah king of Judah began Menahem the son of Gadi to reign over Israel, and reigned ten years in Samaria.
15:18 und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel. Er ließ sein Leben lang nicht von den Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, der Israel sündigen machte.
15:18 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not all his days from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
15:19 Und es kam Phul, der König von Assyrien, ins Land. Und Menahem gab dem Phul tausend Zentner Silber, daß er's mit ihm hielte und befestigte ihm das Königreich.
15:19 And Pul the king of Assyria came against the land: and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver, that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand.
15:20 Und Menahem setzte ein Geld in Israel auf die Reichsten, fünfzig Silberlinge auf einen jeglichen Mann, daß er's dem König von Assyrien gäbe. Also zog der König von Assyrien wieder heim und blieb nicht im Lande. {~}
15:20 And Menahem exacted the money of Israel, even of all the mighty men of wealth, of each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back, and stayed not there in the land.

15:23 Im fünfzigsten Jahr Asarjas, des Königs in Juda, ward König Pekahja, der Sohn Menahems, über Israel zu Samaria, zwei Jahre;
15:23 In the fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah Pekahiah the son of Menahem began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned two years.
15:24 und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel; denn er ließ nicht von der Sünde Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, der Israel sündigen machte.
15:24 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
15:25 Und es machte Pekah, der Sohn Remaljas, sein Ritter, einen Bund wider ihn und schlug ihn zu Samaria im Palast des Königshauses samt Argob und Arje, und mit ihm waren fünfzig Mann von den Kindern Gileads, und tötete ihn und ward König an seiner Statt.
15:25 But Pekah the son of Remaliah, a captain of his, conspired against him, and stroke him in Samaria, in the palace of the king's house, with Argob and Arieh, and with him fifty men of the Gileadites: and he killed him, and reigned in his room.

15:27 In the two and fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah Pekah the son of Remaliah began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned twenty years.
15:28 und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel; denn er ließ nicht von den Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, der Israel sündigen machte.
15:28 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
15:29 Zu den Zeiten Pekahs, des Königs Israels, kam Thiglath-Pileser, der König von Assyrien, und nahm Ijon, Abel-Beth-Maacha, Janoah, Kedes, Hazor, Gilead und Galiläa, das ganze Land Naphthali, und führte sie weg nach Assyrien.
15:29 In the days of Pekah king of Israel came Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, and took Ijon, and Abelbethmaachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and carried them captive to Assyria.
15:30 Und Hosea, der Sohn Elas, machte einen Bund wider Pekah, den Sohn Remaljas, und schlug ihn tot und ward König an seiner Statt im zwanzigsten Jahr Jothams, des Sohnes Usias.
15:30 And Hoshea the son of Elah made a conspiracy against Pekah the son of Remaliah, and stroke him, and slew him, and reigned in his position, in the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzziah.

15:32 Im zweiten Jahr Pekahs, des Sohnes Remaljas, des Königs über Israel, ward König Jotham, der Sohn Usias, des Königs in Juda.
15:32 In the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah king of Israel began Jotham the son of Uzziah king of Judah to reign.
15:33 Er war fünfundzwanzig Jahre alt, da er König ward, und regierte sechzehn Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Jerusa, eine Tochter Zadoks.
15:33 Five and twenty years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok.
15:34 Und er tat, was dem HERRN wohl gefiel, ganz wie sein Vater Usia getan hatte, {~}
15:34 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD: he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done.
15:35 nur, daß sie die Höhen nicht abtaten; denn das Volk opferte und räucherte noch auf den Höhen. Er baute das obere Tor am Hause des HERRN.
15:35 Nevertheless the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burned incense still in the high places. He built the higher gate of the house of the LORD.

15:36 Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
15:37 Zu der Zeit hob der HERR an, zu senden gen Juda Rezin, den König von Syrien und Pekah, den Sohn Remaljas.
15:37 In those days the LORD began to send against Judah Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah.
15:38 Und Jotham entschlief mit seinen Vätern in der Stadt Davids, seines Vaters. Und Ahas, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt. {~} {~} {~}
15:38 And Jotham slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Ahaz his son reigned in his position.

16:1 In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.
16:2 Zwanzig Jahre war Ahas alt, da er König ward, und regierte sechzehn Jahre zu Jerusalem; und tat nicht, was dem HERRN, seinem Gott, wohl gefiel wie sein Vater David;
16:2 Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD his God, like David his father.
16:3 denn er wandelte auf dem Wege der Könige Israels. Dazu ließ er seinen Sohn durchs Feuer gehen nach den Greueln der Heiden, die der HERR vor den Kindern Israel vertrieben hatte,
16:3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.
16:4 und tat Opfer und räucherte auf den Höhen und auf den Hügeln und unter allen grünen Bäumen.
16:4 And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
16:5 Dazumal zogen Rezin, der König von Syrien und Pekah, der Sohn Remaljas, König in Israel, hinauf gen Jerusalem, zu streiten und belagerten Ahas; aber sie konnten es nicht gewinnen.
16:5 Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.
16:6 Zu derselben Zeit brachte Rezin, König von Syrien, Elath wieder an Syrien und stieß die Juden aus Elath; aber die Syrer kamen und wohnten darin bis auf diesen Tag. {~}
16:6 At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drove the Jews from Elath: and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day.
16:7 Und Ahas sandte Boten zu Thiglath-Pileser, dem König von Assyrien, und ließ ihm sagen: Ich bin dein Knecht und dein Sohn; komm herauf und hilf mir aus der Hand des Königs von Syrien und des Königs Israels, die sich wider mich haben aufgemacht!
16:7 So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, saying, I am your servant and your son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me.
16:8 Und Ahas nahm das Silber und Gold, das im Hause des HERRN und in den Schätzen des Königshauses gefunden ward, und sandte dem König von Assyrien Geschenke.
16:8 And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.
16:9 Und der König von Assyrien gehorchte ihm und zog herauf gen Damaskus und gewann es und führte es weg gen Kir und tötete Rezin. {~} {~}
16:9 And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him: for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin.
16:10 Und der König Ahas zog entgegen Thiglath-Pileser, dem König zu Assyrien, gen Damaskus. Und da er einen Altar sah, sandte der König Ahas desselben Altars Ebenbild und Gleichnis zum Priester Uria, wie derselbe gemacht war. {~} {~}
16:10 And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof.
16:11 Und Uria, der Priester, baute einen Altar und machte ihn, wie der König Ahas zu ihm gesandt hatte von Damaskus, bis der König Ahas von Damaskus kam. {~} {~} {~} {~}
16:11 And Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus: so Urijah the priest made it against king Ahaz came from Damascus.
16:12 Und da der König von Damaskus kam und den Altar sah, opferte er darauf{~} {~} {~} {~}
16:12 And when the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king approached to the altar, and offered thereon.
16:13 und zündete darauf an sein Brandopfer und Speisopfer und goß darauf sein Trankopfer und ließ das Blut der Dankopfer, die er opferte, auf den Altar sprengen.
16:13 And he burnt his burnt offering and his food offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, upon the altar.
16:14 Aber den ehernen Altar, der vor dem HERRN stand, tat er weg, daß er nicht stände zwischen dem Altar und dem Hause des HERRN, sondern setzte ihn an die Seite des Altars gegen Mitternacht. {~} {~} {~} {~} {~}
16:14 And he brought also the brazen altar, which was before the LORD, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of the LORD, and put it on the north side of the altar.
16:15 Und der König Ahas gebot Uria, dem Priester, und sprach: Auf dem großen Altar sollst du anzünden die Brandopfer des Morgens und die Speisopfer des Abends und die Brandopfer des Königs und sein Speisopfer und die Brandopfer alles Volks im Lande samt ihrem Speisopfer und Trankopfer; und alles Blut der Brandopfer und das Blut aller andern Opfer sollst du darauf sprengen; aber mit dem ehernen Altar will ich denken, was ich mache.
16:15 And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening food offering, and the king's burnt sacrifice, and his food offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their food offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brazen altar shall be for me to enquire by.
16:16 Uria, der Priester, tat alles, was ihn der König Ahas hieß.
16:16 Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.
16:17 Und der König Ahas brach ab die Seiten an den Gestühlen und tat die Kessel oben davon; und das Meer tat er von den Ehernen Ochsen, die darunter waren, und setzte es auf steinernes Pflaster.
16:17 And king Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the vessel that holds water from off them; and took down the sea from off the brazen oxen that were under it, and put it upon the pavement of stones.
16:18 Dazu bedeckte die Sabbathalle, die sie im Hause gebaut hatten, und den äußeren Eingang des Königs wandte er zum Hause des HERRN, dem König von Assyrien zum Dienst.
16:18 And the covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry without, turned he from the house of the LORD for the king of Assyria.

16:20 And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his position.

17:1 Im zwölften Jahr des Ahas, des Königs in Juda, ward König über Israel zu Samaria Hosea, der Sohn Elas, neun Jahre;
17:1 In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.
17:2 und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, doch nicht wie die Könige Israels, die vor ihm waren.
17:2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.
17:3 Wider denselben zog herauf Salmanasser, der König von Assyrien. Und Hosea ward ihm untertan, daß er ihm Geschenke gab.
17:3 Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.
17:4 Da aber der König von Assyrien inneward, daß Hosea einen Bund anrichtete und hatte Boten zu So, dem König in Ägypten, gesandt, griff er ihn und legte ihn ins Gefängnis. {~} {~} {~} {~} {~} {~} {~} {~} {~}
17:4 And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.
17:5 Nämlich der König von Assyrien zog über das ganze Land und gen Samaria und belagerte es drei Jahre. {~}
17:5 Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.
17:6 Und im neunten Jahr Hoseas gewann der König von Assyrien Samaria und führte Israel weg nach Assyrien und setzte sie nach Halah und an den Habor, an das Wasser Gosan und in die Städte der Meder.
17:6 In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
17:7 Denn die Kinder Israel sündigten wider den HERRN, ihren Gott, der sie aus Ägyptenland geführt hatte, aus der Hand Pharaos, des Königs von Ägypten, und fürchteten andere Götter
17:7 For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,
17:8 und wandelten nach der Heiden Weise, die der HERR vor den Kindern Israel vertrieben hatte, und taten wie die Könige Israels;
17:8 And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.
17:9 und die Kinder Israels schmückten ihre Sachen wider den HERRN, ihren Gott, die doch nicht gut waren, also daß sie sich Höhen bauten in allen Städten, von den Wachttürmen bis zu den festen Städten,
17:9 And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
17:10 und richteten Säulen auf und Ascherabilder auf allen hohen Hügeln und unter allen grünen Bäumen,
17:10 And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:
17:11 und räucherten daselbst auf allen Höhen wie die Heiden, die der HERR vor ihnen weggetrieben hatte, und sie trieben böse Stücke, den HERRN zu erzürnen,
17:11 And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger:
17:12 und dienten den Götzen, davon der HERR zu ihnen gesagt hatte: Ihr sollt solches nicht tun;
17:12 For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, All of you shall not do this thing.
17:13 und wenn der HERR bezeugte in Israel und Juda durch alle Propheten und Seher und ließ ihnen sagen: Kehret um von euren bösen Wegen und haltet meine Gebote und Rechte nach allem Gesetz, das ich euren Vätern geboten habe und das ich zu euch gesandt habe durch meine Knechte, die Propheten:
17:13 Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn all of you from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.
17:14 so gehorchen sie nicht, sondern härteten ihren Nacken gleich dem Nacken ihrer Väter, die nicht glaubten an den HERRN, ihren Gott;
17:14 Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.
17:15 dazu verachteten sie seine Gebote und seinen Bund, den er mit ihren Vätern gemacht hatte, und seine Zeugnisse, die er unter ihnen tat, und wandelten ihrer Eitelkeit nach und wurden eitel den Heiden nach, die um sie her wohnten, von welchen ihnen der HERR geboten hatte, sie sollten nicht wie sie tun;
17:15 And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.
17:16 aber sie verließen alle Gebote des HERRN, ihres Gottes, und machten sich zwei gegossene Kälber und Ascherabild und beteten an alles Heer des Himmels und dienten Baal{~}
17:16 And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.
17:17 und ließen ihre Söhne und Töchter durchs Feuer gehen und gingen mit Weissagen und Zaubern um und verkauften sich, zu tun, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, ihn zu erzürnen:
17:17 And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
17:18 da ward der HERR sehr zornig über Israel und tat sie von seinem Angesicht, daß nichts übrigblieb denn der Stamm Juda allein.
17:18 Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.
17:19 (Dazu hielten auch die von Juda nicht die Gebote des HERRN, ihres Gottes, und wandelten in den Sitten, darnach Israel getan hatte.)
17:19 Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.
17:20 Darum verwarf der HERR allen Samen Israels und drängte sie und gab sie in die Hände der Räuber, bis er sie verwarf von seinem Angesicht.
17:20 And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.
17:21 Denn Israel ward gerissen vom Hause Davids; und sie machten zum König Jerobeam, den Sohn Nebats. Derselbe wandte Israel ab vom HERRN und machte, daß sie schwer sündigten.
17:21 For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drove Israel from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin.
17:22 Also wandelten die Kinder Israel in allen Sünden Jerobeams, die er angerichtet hatte, und ließen nicht davon,
17:22 For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;
17:23 bis der HERR Israel von seinem Angesicht tat, wie er geredet hatte durch alle seine Knechte, die Propheten. Also ward Israel aus seinem Lande weggeführt nach Assyrien bis auf diesen Tag.
17:23 Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.
17:24 Der König aber von Assyrien ließ kommen Leute von Babel, von Kutha, von Avva, von Hamath und Sepharvaim und setzte sie in die Städte in Samaria anstatt der Kinder Israel. Und sie nahmen Samaria ein und wohnten in desselben Städten.
17:24 And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.
17:25 Und da sie aber anhoben daselbst zu wohnen und den HERRN nicht fürchteten, sandte der HERR Löwen unter sie, die erwürgten sie.
17:25 And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them.
17:26 Und sie ließen dem König von Assyrien sagen: Die Heiden, die du hast hergebracht und die Städte Samarias damit besetzt, wissen nichts von der Weise Gottes im Lande; darum hat der HERR Löwen unter sie gesandt, und siehe, dieselben töten sie, weil sie nicht wissen um die Weise Gottes im Lande.
17:26 Wherefore they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which you have removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he has sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.
17:27 Der König von Assyrien gebot und sprach: Bringet dahin der Priester einen, die von dort sind weggeführt, und ziehet hin und wohnet daselbst, und er lehre sie die Weise Gottes im Lande.
17:27 Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom all of you brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.
17:28 Da kam der Priester einer, die von Samaria weggeführt waren, und wohnte zu Beth-El und lehrte sie, wie sie den HERRN fürchten sollten.
17:28 Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.
17:29 Aber ein jegliches Volk machte seinen Gott und taten sie in die Häuser auf den Höhen, die die Samariter gemacht hatten, ein jegliches Volk in ihren Städten, darin sie wohnten.
17:29 Nevertheless every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.
17:30 Die von Babel machten Sukkoth-Benoth; die von Chut machten Nergal; die von Hamath machten Asima;
17:30 And the men of Babylon made Succothbenoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,
17:31 die von Avva machten Nibehas und Tharthak; die von Sepharvaim verbrannten ihre Söhne dem Adrammelech und Anammelech, den Göttern derer von Sepharvaim. {~}
17:31 And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.
17:32 Und weil sie den HERRN auch fürchteten, machten sie sich Priester auf den Höhen aus allem Volk unter ihnen; die opferten für sie in den Häusern auf den Höhen.
17:32 So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the low of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.
17:33 Also fürchteten sie den HERRN und dienten auch den Göttern nach eines jeglichen Volkes Weise, von wo sie hergebracht waren.
17:33 They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.
17:34 Und bis auf diesen Tag tun sie nach der alten Weise, daß sie weder den HERRN fürchten noch ihre Rechte und Sitten tun nach dem Gesetz und Gebot, das der HERR geboten hat den Kindern Jakobs, welchem er den Namen Israel gab.
17:34 Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;
17:35 Und er machte einen Bund mit ihnen und gebot ihnen und sprach: Fürchtet keine andern Götter und betet sie nicht an und dienet ihnen nicht und opfert ihnen nicht;
17:35 With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, All of you shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:
17:36 sondern den HERRN, der euch aus Ägyptenland geführt hat mit großer Kraft und ausgerecktem Arm, den fürchtet, den betet an, und dem opfert;
17:36 But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall all of you fear, and him shall all of you worship, and to him shall all of you do sacrifice.
17:37 und die Sitten, Rechte Gesetze und Gebote, die er euch hat aufschreiben lassen, die haltet, daß ihr darnach tut allewege und nicht andere Götter fürchtet;
17:37 And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, all of you shall observe to do for evermore; and all of you shall not fear other gods.
17:38 und des Bundes, den er mit euch gemacht hat, vergesset nicht daß ihr nicht andre Götter fürchtet;
17:38 And the covenant that I have made with you all of you shall not forget; neither shall all of you fear other gods.
17:39 sondern fürchtet den HERRN, euren Gott, der wird euch erretten von allen euren Feinden.
17:39 But the LORD your God all of you shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.
17:40 Aber diese gehorchten nicht, sondern taten nach ihrer vorigen Weise.
17:40 Nevertheless they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.
17:41 Also fürchteten die Heiden den HERRN und dienten auch ihren Götzen. Also taten auch ihre Kinder und Kindeskinder, wie ihre Väter getan haben, bis auf diesen Tag.
17:41 So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

18:1 Im dritten Jahr Hoseas, des Sohnes Elas, des Königs über Israel, ward König Hiskia, der Sohn Ahas, des Königs in Juda.
18:1 Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
18:2 Er war fünfundzwanzig Jahre alt, da er König ward, und regierte neunundzwanzig Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Abi, eine Tochter Sacharjas.
18:2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.
18:3 Und er tat, was dem HERRN wohl gefiel, wie sein Vater David.
18:3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.
18:4 Er tat ab die Höhen und zerbrach die Säulen und rottete das Ascherabild aus und zerstieß die eherne Schlange, die Mose gemacht hatte; denn bis zu der Zeit hatten ihr die Kinder Israel geräuchert, und man hieß sie Nehusthan.
18:4 He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.
18:5 Er vertraute dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, daß nach ihm seinesgleichen nicht war unter allen Königen Juda's noch vor ihm gewesen.
18:5 He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.
18:6 Er hing dem HERRN an und wich nicht von ihm ab und hielt seine Gebote, die der HERR dem Mose geboten hatte.
18:6 For he clave to the LORD, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.
18:7 Und der HERR war mit ihm; und wo er auszog handelte er klüglich. Dazu ward er abtrünnig vom König von Assyrien und war ihm nicht untertan.
18:7 And the LORD was with him; and he prospered anywhere he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.
18:8 Er schlug die Philister bis gen Gaza und ihr Gebiet von den Wachttürmen an bis die festen Städte.
18:8 He stroke the Philistines, even unto Gaza, and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
18:9 Im vierten Jahr Hiskias, des Königs in Juda (das war das siebente Jahr Hoseas, des Sohnes Elas, des Königs über Israel), da zog Salmanasser, der König von Assyrien, herauf wider Samaria und belagerte es
18:9 And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.
18:10 und gewann es nach drei Jahren; im sechsten Jahr Hiskias, das ist im neunten Jahr Hoseas, des Königs Israels, da ward Samaria gewonnen.
18:10 And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is in the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.
18:11 Und der König von Assyrien führte Israel weg gen Assyrien und setzte sie nach Halah und an den Habor, an das Wasser Gosan und in die Städte der Meder,
18:11 And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:
18:12 darum daß sie nicht gehorcht hatten der Stimme des HERRN, ihres Gottes, und übertreten hatten seinen Bund und alles, was Mose, der Knecht des HERRN, geboten hatte; deren sie keines gehört noch getan.
18:12 Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.
18:13 Im vierzehnten Jahr aber des Königs Hiskia zog herauf Sanherib, der König von Assyrien, wider alle festen Städte Juda's und nahm sie ein.
18:13 Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.
18:14 Da sandte Hiskia, der König Juda's, zum König von Assyrien gen Lachis und ließ ihm sagen: Ich habe mich versündigt. Kehre um von mir; was du mir auflegst, will ich tragen. Da legte der König von Assyrien Hiskia, dem König Juda's, dreihundert Zentner Silber auf und dreißig Zentner Gold.
18:14 And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which you put on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
18:15 Also gab Hiskia all das Silber, das im Hause des HERRN und in den Schätzen des Königshauses gefunden ward.
18:15 And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house.
18:16 Zur selben Zeit zerbrach Hiskia, der König Juda's, die Türen am Tempel des HERRN und die Bleche, die er selbst hatte darüberziehen lassen, und gab sie dem König von Assyrien.
18:16 At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
18:17 Und der König von Assyrien sandte den Tharthan und den Erzkämmerer und den Erzschenken von Lachis zum König Hiskia mit großer Macht gen Jerusalem, und sie zogen herauf. Und da sie hinkamen, hielten sie an der Wasserleitung des oberen Teiches, der da liegt an der Straße bei dem Acker des Walkmüllers, {~} {~}
18:17 And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the launderer's field.
18:18 und riefen nach dem König. Da kam heraus zu ihnen Eljakim, der Sohn Hilkias, der Hofmeister, und Sebna, der Schreiber, und Joah, der Sohn Asaphs, der Kanzler.
18:18 And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
18:19 Und der Erzschenke sprach zu ihnen: Sagt doch dem König Hiskia: So spricht der große König, der König von Assyrien: Was ist das für ein Trotz, darauf du dich verläßt?
18:19 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Speak all of you now to Hezekiah, Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein you trust?
18:20 Meinst du, es sei noch Rat und Macht, zu streiten? Worauf verläßt du dich denn, daß du mir abtrünnig geworden bist? {~} {~} {~}
18:20 You says, (but they are but vain words,) I have counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom do you trust, that you rebel against me?
18:21 Siehe, verlässest du dich auf diesen zerstoßenen Rohrstab, auf Ägypten, welcher, so sich jemand darauf lehnt, wird er ihm die Hand durchbohren? Also ist Pharao, der König in Ägypten, allen, die sich auf ihn verlassen.
18:21 Now, behold, you trust upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.
18:22 Ob ihr aber wolltet zu mir sagen: Wir verlassen uns auf den HERRN, unsern Gott! ist's denn nicht der, dessen Höhen und Altäre Hiskia hat abgetan und gesagt zu Juda und zu Jerusalem: Vor diesem Altar, der zu Jerusalem ist, sollt ihr anbeten?
18:22 But if all of you say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and has said to Judah and Jerusalem, All of you shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?
18:23 Wohlan, nimm eine Wette an mit meinem Herrn, dem König von Assyrien: ich will dir zweitausend Rosse geben, ob du könntest Reiter dazu geben.
18:23 Now therefore, I pray you, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver you two thousand horses, if you be able on your part to set riders upon them.
18:24 Wie willst du denn bleiben vor der geringsten Hauptleute einem von meines Herrn Untertanen? Und du verläßt dich auf Ägypten um der Wagen und Reiter willen.
18:24 How then will you turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put your trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
18:25 Meinst du aber, ich sei ohne den HERRN heraufgezogen, daß ich diese Stätte verderbe? Der HERR hat mich's geheißen: Ziehe hinauf in dies Land und verderbe es!
18:25 Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
18:26 Da sprach Eljakim, der Sohn Hilkias und Sebna und Joah zum Erzschenken: Rede mit deinen Knechten auf syrisch, denn deine Knechte verstehen es; und rede nicht mit uns auf jüdisch vor den Ohren des Volks, das auf der Mauer ist.
18:26 Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray you, to your servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews' language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
18:27 Aber der Erzschenke sprach zu ihnen: Hat mich denn mein Herr zu deinem Herrn oder zu dir gesandt, daß ich solche Worte rede? und nicht vielmehr zu den Männern, die auf der Mauer sitzen, daß sie mit euch ihren eigenen Mist fressen und ihren Harn saufen?
18:27 But Rabshakeh said unto them, Has my master sent me to your master, and to you, to speak these words? has he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?
18:28 Also stand der Erzschenke auf und redete mit lauter Stimme auf jüdisch und sprach: Hört das Wort des großen Königs, des Königs von Assyrien!
18:28 Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spoke, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:
18:29 So spricht der König: Laßt euch Hiskia nicht betrügen; denn er vermag euch nicht zu erretten von meiner Hand.
18:29 Thus says the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:
18:30 Und laßt euch Hiskia nicht vertrösten auf den HERRN, daß er sagt: Der HERR wird uns erretten, und diese Stadt wird nicht in die Hände des Königs von Assyrien gegeben werden.
18:30 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
18:31 Gehorchet Hiskia nicht! Denn so spricht der König von Assyrien: Nehmet an meine Gnade und kommt zu mir heraus, so soll jedermann von seinem Weinstock und seinem Feigenbaum essen und von seinem Brunnen trinken, {~} {~}
18:31 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus says the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat all of you every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink all of you every one the waters of his cistern:
18:32 bis ich komme und hole euch in ein Land, das eurem Lande gleich ist, darin Korn, Most, Brot, Weinberge, Ölbäume und Honig sind; so werdet ihr leben bleiben und nicht sterben. Gehorchet Hiskia nicht; denn er verführt euch, daß er spricht: Der HERR wird uns erretten.
18:32 Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that all of you may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuades you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.
18:33 Haben auch die Götter der Heiden ein jeglicher sein Land errettet von der Hand des Königs von Assyrien?
18:33 Has any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
18:34 Wo sind die Götter zu Hamath und Arpad? Wo sind die Götter zu Sepharvaim, Hena und Iwwa? Haben sie auch Samaria errettet von meiner Hand?
18:34 Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?
18:35 Wo ist ein Gott unter aller Lande Göttern, die ihr Land haben von meiner Hand errettet, daß der HERR sollte Jerusalem von meiner Hand erretten?
18:35 Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?
18:36 Das Volk aber schwieg still und antwortete ihm nichts; denn der König hatte geboten und gesagt: Antwortet ihm nichts.
18:36 But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
18:37 Da kamen Eljakim, der Sohn Hilkias, und Sebna, der Schreiber, und Joah, der Sohn Asaphs, der Kanzler, zu Hiskia mit zerrissenen Kleidern und sagten ihm an die Worte des Erzschenken. {~} {~} {~}
18:37 Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

19:1 Da der König Hiskia das hörte, zerriß er seine Kleider und legte einen Sack an und ging in das Haus des Herrn
19:1 And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.
19:2 und sandte Eljakim, den Hofmeister, und Sebna, den Schreiber, samt den Ältesten der Priester, mit Säcken angetan, zu dem Propheten Jesaja, dem Sohn des Amoz;
19:2 And he sent Eliakim, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.
19:3 und sie sprachen zu ihm: So sagt Hiskia: Das ist ein Tag der Not, des Scheltens und des Lästerns; die Kinder sind gekommen an die Geburt und ist keine Kraft da, zu gebären. {~}
19:3 And they said unto him, Thus says Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and blasphemy; for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
19:4 Ob vielleicht der HERR, dein Gott, hören wollte alle Worte des Erzschenken, den sein Herr, der König von Assyrien, gesandt hat, Hohn zu sprechen dem lebendigen Gott und zu schelten mit Worten, die der HERR, dein Gott, gehört hat: So erhebe dein Gebet für die übrigen, die noch vorhanden sind.
19:4 It may be the LORD your God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD your God has heard: wherefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that are left.
19:5 Und da die Knechte Hiskias zu Jesaja kamen, {~}
19:5 So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
19:6 sprach Jesaja zu ihnen: So sagt eurem Herrn: So spricht der HERR: Fürchte dich nicht vor den Worten, die du gehört hast, womit mich die Knechte des Königs von Assyrien gelästert haben.
19:6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall all of you say to your master, Thus says the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
19:7 Siehe, ich will ihm einen Geist geben, daß er ein Gerücht hören wird und wieder in sein Land ziehen, und will ihn durchs Schwert fällen in seinem Lande.
19:7 Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
19:8 Und da der Erzschenke wiederkam, fand er den König von Assyrien streiten wider Libna; denn er hatte gehört, daß er von Lachis gezogen war.
19:8 So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.
19:9 Und da er hörte von Thirhaka, dem König der Mohren: Siehe, er ist ausgezogen mit dir zu streiten, sandte er abermals Boten zu Hiskia und ließ ihm sagen: {~}
19:9 And when he heard say of Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, Behold, he has come out to fight against you: he sent messengers again unto Hezekiah, saying,
19:10 So sagt Hiskia, dem König Juda's: Laß dich deinen Gott nicht betrügen, auf den du dich verlässest und sprichst: Jerusalem wird nicht in die Hand des Königs von Assyrien gegeben werden. {~}
19:10 Thus shall all of you speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
19:11 Siehe, du hast gehört, was die Könige von Assyrien getan haben allen Landen und sie verbannt; und du solltest errettet werden?
19:11 Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shall you be delivered?
19:12 Haben der Heiden Götter auch sie errettet, welche meine Väter haben verderbt: Gosan, Haran, Rezeph und die Kinder Edens, die zu Thelassar waren?
19:12 Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed; as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Thelasar?
19:13 Wo ist der König von Hamath, der König zu Arpad und der König der Stadt Sepharvaim, von Hena und Iwwa?
19:13 Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivah?
19:14 Und da Hiskia den Brief von den Boten empfangen und gelesen hatte, ging er hinauf zum Hause des HERRN und breitete ihn aus vor dem HERRN{~}
19:14 And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.
19:15 und betete vor dem HERRN und sprach: HERR, Gott Israels, der du über dem Cherubim sitzest, du bist allein Gott über alle Königreiche auf Erden, du hast Himmel und Erde gemacht. {~}
19:15 And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwell between the cherubims, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth.
19:16 HERR, neige deine Ohren und höre; tue deine Augen auf und siehe, und höre die Worte Sanheribs, der hergesandt hat, Hohn zu sprechen dem lebendigen Gott. {~}
19:16 LORD, bow down yours ear, and hear: open, LORD, yours eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which has sent him to reproach the living God.
19:17 Es ist wahr HERR, die Könige von Assyrien haben die Heiden mit dem Schwert umgebracht und ihr Land
19:17 Truthfully, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,
19:18 und haben ihre Götter ins Feuer geworfen. Denn es waren nicht Götter, sondern Werke von Menschenhänden, Holz und Stein; darum haben sie sie vertilgt.
19:18 And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.
19:19 Nun aber, HERR, unser Gott, hilf uns aus seiner Hand, auf daß alle Königreiche auf Erden erkennen, daß du, HERR, allein Gott bist.
19:19 Now therefore, O LORD our God, I plead to you, save you us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are the LORD God, even you only.
19:20 Da sandte Jesaja, der Sohn Amoz, zu Hiskia und ließ ihm sagen: So spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Was du zu mir gebetet hast um Sanherib, den König von Assyrien, das habe ich gehört.
19:20 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, That which you have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard.
19:21 Das ist's, was der HERR wider ihn geredet hat: Die Jungfrau, die Tochter Zion, verachtet dich und spottet dein; die Tochter Jerusalem schüttelt ihr Haupt dir nach.
19:21 This is the word that the LORD has spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion has despised you, and laughed you to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.
19:22 Wen hast du gehöhnt und gelästert? Über wen hast du deine Stimme erhoben? Du hast deine Augen erhoben wider den Heiligen in Israel.
19:22 Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? and against whom have you exalted your voice, and lifted up yours eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.
19:23 Du hast den HERRN durch deine Boten gehöhnt und gesagt: "Ich bin durch die Menge meiner Wagen auf die Höhen der Berge gestiegen, auf den innersten Libanon; ich habe seine hohen Zedern und auserlesenen Tannen abgehauen und bin gekommen an seine äußerste Herberge, an den Wald seines Baumgartens.
19:23 By your messengers you have reproached the LORD, and have said, With the multitude of my chariots I am come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.
19:24 Ich habe gegraben und ausgetrunken die fremden Wasser und werde austrocknen mit meinen Fußsohlen alle Flüsse Ägyptens."
19:24 I have dug and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of besieged places.
19:25 Hast du aber nicht gehört, daß ich solches lange zuvor getan habe, und von Anfang habe ich's bereitet? Nun aber habe ich's kommen lassen, daß die festen Städte werden fallen in einen wüsten Steinhaufen,
19:25 Have you not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that you should be to lay waste fenced cities into ruinous heaps.
19:26 und die darin wohnen, matt werden und sich fürchten und schämen müssen und werden wie das Gras auf dem Felde und wie das grüne Kraut, wie Gras auf den Dächern, das verdorrt, ehe denn es reif wird. {~}
19:26 Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the house tops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.
19:27 Ich weiß dein Wohnen, dein Aus-und Einziehen und daß du tobst wider mich.
19:27 But I know your abode, and your going out, and your coming in, and your rage against me.
19:28 Weil du denn wider mich tobst und dein Übermut vor meine Ohren heraufgekommen ist, so will ich dir einen Ring an deine Nase legen und ein Gebiß in dein Maul und will dich den Weg wieder zurückführen, da du her gekommen bist.
19:28 Because your rage against me and your tumult has come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in your nose, and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came.
19:29 Und das sei dir ein Zeichen: In diesem Jahr iß, was von selber wächst; im andern Jahr, was noch aus den Wurzeln wächst; im dritten Jahr säet und erntet, und pflanzt Weinberge und esset ihre Früchte.
19:29 And this shall be a sign unto you, All of you shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springs of the same; and in the third year sow all of you, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof.
19:30 Und was vom Hause Juda's errettet und übriggeblieben ist, wird fürder unter sich wurzeln und über sich Frucht tragen.
19:30 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.
19:31 Denn von Jerusalem werden ausgehen, die übriggeblieben sind, und die Erretteten vom Berge Zion. Der Eifer des HERRN Zebaoth wird solches tun.
19:31 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
19:32 Darum spricht der HERR vom König von Assyrien also: Er soll nicht in diese Stadt kommen und keinen Pfeil hineinschießen und mit keinem Schilde davonkommen und soll keinen Wall darum schütten;
19:32 Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.
19:33 sondern er soll den Weg wiederum ziehen, den er gekommen ist, und soll in diese Stadt nicht kommen; der HERR sagt's.
19:33 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, says the LORD.
19:34 Und ich will diese Stadt beschirmen, daß ich ihr helfe um meinetwillen und um Davids, meines Knechtes, willen.
19:34 For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
19:35 Und in derselben Nacht fuhr aus der Engel des HERRN und schlug im Lager von Assyrien hundertfünfundachtzigtausend Mann. Und da sie sich des Morgens früh aufmachten, siehe, da lag's alles eitel tote Leichname.
19:35 And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and stroke in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
19:36 Also brach Sanherib, der König von Assyrien, auf und zog weg und kehrte um und blieb zu Ninive.
19:36 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
19:37 Und da er anbetete im Hause Nisrochs, seines Gottes, erschlugen ihn mit dem Schwert Adrammelech und Sarezer, seine Söhne, und entrannen ins Land Ararat. Und sein Sohn Asar-Haddon ward König an seiner Statt.
19:37 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons stroke him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his position.

20:1 Zu der Zeit ward Hiskia todkrank. Und der Prophet Jesaja, der Sohn des Amoz, kam zu ihm und sprach zu ihm: So spricht der HERR: Beschicke dein Haus; denn du wirst sterben und nicht leben bleiben!
20:1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus says the LORD, Set yours house in order; for you shall die, and not live.
20:2 Er aber wandte sein Antlitz zur Wand und betete zum HERRN und sprach:
20:2 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying,
20:3 Ach, HERR, gedenke doch, daß ich vor dir treulich gewandelt habe und mit rechtschaffenem Herzen und habe getan, was dir wohl gefällt. Und Hiskia weinte sehr.
20:3 I plead to you, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
20:4 Da aber Jesaja noch nicht zur Stadt halb hinausgegangen war, kam des HERRN Wort zu ihm und sprach:
20:4 And it came to pass, before Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
20:5 Kehre um und sage Hiskia, dem Fürsten meines Volkes: So spricht der HERR, der Gott deines Vaters David: Ich habe dein Gebet gehört und deine Tränen gesehen. Siehe, ich will dich gesund machen, am dritten Tage wirst du hinauf in das Haus des HERRN gehen,
20:5 Return, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears: behold, I will heal you: on the third day you shall go up unto the house of the LORD.
20:6 und ich will fünfzehn Jahre zu deinem Leben tun und dich und diese Stadt erretten von dem König von Assyrien und diese Stadt beschirmen um meinetwillen und um meines Knechtes David willen.
20:6 And I will add unto your days fifteen years; and I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
20:7 Und Jesaja sprach: Bringet her ein Pflaster von Feigen! Und da sie es brachten, legten sie es auf die Drüse; und er ward gesund.
20:7 And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
20:8 Hiskia aber sprach zu Jesaja: Welches ist das Zeichen, daß mich der HERR wird gesund machen und ich in des HERRN Haus hinaufgehen werde am dritten Tage?
20:8 And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day?
20:9 Jesaja sprach: Das Zeichen wirst du haben vom HERRN, daß der HERR tun wird, was er geredet hat: Soll der Schatten zehn Stufen fürdergehen oder zehn Stufen zurückgehen?
20:9 And Isaiah said, This sign shall you have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he has spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees?
20:10 Hiskia sprach: Es ist leicht, daß der Schatten zehn Stufen niederwärts gehe; das will ich nicht, sondern daß er zehn Stufen hinter sich zurückgehe.
20:10 And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.
20:11 Da rief der Prophet den HERRN an; und der Schatten ging hinter sich zurück zehn Stufen am Zeiger Ahas, die er niederwärts gegangen war.
20:11 And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.
20:12 Zu der Zeit sandte Berodoch-Baladan, der Sohn Baladans, König zu Babel, Briefe und Geschenke zu Hiskia; denn er hatte gehört, daß Hiskia krank gewesen war.
20:12 At that time Berodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
20:13 Hiskia aber war fröhlich mit ihnen und zeigte ihnen das ganze Schatzhaus, Silber, Gold, Spezerei und das beste Öl, und das Zeughaus und alles, was in seinen Schätzen vorhanden war. Es war nichts in seinem Hause und in seiner ganzen Herrschaft, das ihnen Hiskia nicht zeigte.
20:13 And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and showed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not.
20:14 Da kam Jesaja, der Prophet, zum König Hiskia und sprach zu ihm: Was haben diese Leute gesagt? und woher sind sie zu dir gekommen? Hiskia sprach: Sie sind aus fernen Landen zu mir gekommen, von Babel.
20:14 Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto you? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.
20:15 Er sprach: Was haben sie gesehen in deinem Hause? Hiskia sprach: Sie haben alles gesehen, was in meinem Hause ist, und ist nichts in meinen Schätzen, was ich ihnen nicht gezeigt hätte.
20:15 And he said, What have they seen in yours house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them.
20:16 Da sprach Jesaja zu Hiskia: Höre des HERRN Wort:
20:16 And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD.
20:17 Siehe, es kommt die Zeit, daß alles wird gen Babel weggeführt werden aus deinem Hause und was deine Väter gesammelt haben bis auf diesen Tag; und wird nichts übriggelassen werden, spricht der HERR.
20:17 Behold, the days come, that all that is in yours house, and that which your fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, says the LORD.
20:18 Dazu von den Kindern, die von dir kommen, die du zeugen wirst, werden sie nehmen, daß sie Kämmerer seien im Palast des Königs zu Babel.
20:18 And of your sons that shall issue from you, which you shall brought forth, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
20:19 Hiskia aber sprach zu Jesaja: Das ist gut, was der HERR geredet hat, und sprach weiter: Es wird doch Friede und Treue sein zu meinen Zeiten.
20:19 Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which you have spoken. And he said, Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days?
20:20 Was mehr von Hiskia zu sagen ist und alle seine Macht und was er getan hat und der Teich und die Wasserleitung, durch die er Wasser in die Stadt geleitet hat, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Juda's.
20:20 And the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made a pool, and a conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

20:21 And Hezekiah slept with his fathers: and Manasseh his son reigned in his position.

21:1 Manasse war zwölf Jahre alt, da er König ward, und regierte fünfundfünfzig Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Hephzibah.
21:1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hephzibah.
21:2 Und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, nach den Greueln der Heiden, die der HERR vor den Kinder Israel vertrieben hatte,
21:2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, after the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.
21:3 und baute wieder Höhen, die sein Vater Hiskia hatte zerstört, und richtete dem Baal Altäre auf und machte ein Ascherabild, wie Ahab, der König Israels, getan hatte, und betete an alles Heer des Himmels und diente ihnen.
21:3 For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal, and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.
21:4 Und baute Altäre im Hause des HERRN, davon der HERR gesagt hatte: Ich will meinen Namen zu Jerusalem setzen;
21:4 And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.
21:5 und er baute allem Heer des Himmels Altäre in beiden Höfen am Hause des HERRN.
21:5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.
21:6 Und ließ seinen Sohn durchs Feuer gehen und achtete auf Vogelgeschrei und Zeichen und hielt Wahrsager und Zeichendeuter und tat des viel, das dem HERRN übel gefiel, ihn zu erzürnen.
21:6 And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
21:7 Er setzte auch das Bild der Aschera, das er gemacht hatte, in das Haus, von welchem der HERR gesagt hatte: In dies Haus und nach Jerusalem, das ich erwählt habe aus allen Stämmen Israels, will ich meinen Namen setzen ewiglich; {~} {~} {~} {~} {~}
21:7 And he set a graven image of the grove that he had made in the house, of which the LORD said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:
21:8 und will den Fuß Israels nicht mehr bewegen lassen von dem Lande, das ich ihren Vätern gegeben habe, so doch, daß sie halten und tun nach allem, was ich geboten habe, und nach allem Gesetz, das mein Knecht Mose ihnen geboten hat.
21:8 Neither will I make the feet of Israel move any more out of the land which I gave their fathers; only if they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.
21:9 Aber sie gehorchten nicht; sondern Manasse verführte sie, daß sie ärger taten denn die Heiden, die der HERR vor den Kindern Israel vertilgt hatte.
21:9 But they hearkened not: and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than did the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel.
21:10 Da redete der HERR durch seine Knechte, die Propheten, und sprach:
21:10 And the LORD spoke by his servants the prophets, saying,
21:11 Darum daß Manasse, der König Juda's, hat diese Greuel getan, die ärger sind denn alle Greuel, so die Amoriter getan haben, die vor ihm gewesen sind, und hat auch Juda sündigen gemacht mit seinen Götzen;
21:11 Because Manasseh king of Judah has done these abominations, and has done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, which were before him, and has made Judah also to sin with his idols:
21:12 darum spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels, also: Siehe, ich will Unglück über Jerusalem und Juda bringen, daß, wer es hören wird, dem sollen seine beide Ohren gellen;
21:12 Therefore thus says the LORD God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever hears of it, both his ears shall tingle.
21:13 und will über Jerusalem die Meßschnur Samarias ziehen und das Richtblei des Hauses Ahab; und will Jerusalem ausschütten, wie man Schüsseln ausschüttet, und will sie umstürzen; {~} {~} {~}
21:13 And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab: and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipes a dish, wiping it, and turning it upside down.
21:14 und ich will die übrigen meines Erbteils verstoßen und sie geben in die Hände ihrer Feinde, daß sie ein Raub und Reißen werden aller ihrer Feinde,
21:14 And I will forsake the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies;
21:15 darum daß sie getan haben, was mir übel gefällt, und haben mich erzürnt von dem Tage an, da ihre Väter aus Ägypten gezogen sind, bis auf diesen Tag.
21:15 Because they have done that which was evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even unto this day.
21:16 Auch vergoß Manasse sehr viel unschuldig Blut, bis daß Jerusalem allerorten voll ward, außer der Sünde, durch die er Juda sündigen machte, daß sie taten, was dem HERRN übel gefiel.
21:16 Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin wherewith he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.
21:17 Was aber mehr von Manasse zu sagen ist und alles, was er getan hat, und seine Sünde, die er tat, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Juda's.
21:17 Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he sinned, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
21:18 Und Manasse entschlief mit seinen Vätern und ward begraben im Garten an seinem Hause, im Garten Usas. Und sein Sohn Amon ward König an seiner Statt.
21:18 And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza: and Amon his son reigned in his position.
21:19 Zweiundzwanzig Jahre alt war Amon, da er König ward, und regierte zwei Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Mesullemeth, eine Tochter des Haruz von Jotba.
21:19 Amon was twenty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Meshullemeth, the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.
21:20 Und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, wie sein Vater Manasse getan hatte,
21:20 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father Manasseh did.
21:21 und wandelte in allem Wege, den sein Vater gewandelt hatte, und diente allen Götzen, welchen sein Vater gedient hatte, und betete sie an,
21:21 And he walked in all the way that his father walked in, and served the idols that his father served, and worshipped them:
21:22 und verließ den HERRN, seiner Väter Gott, und wandelte nicht im Wege des HERRN.
21:22 And he forsook the LORD God of his fathers, and walked not in the way of the LORD.
21:23 Und seine Knechte machten einen Bund wider Amon und töteten den König in seinem Hause.
21:23 And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and slew the king in his own house.
21:24 Aber das Volk im Land schlug alle, die den Bund gemacht hatten wider den König Amon. Und das Volk im Lande machte Josia, seinen Sohn zum König an seiner Statt.
21:24 And the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his position.
21:25 Was aber Amon mehr getan hat, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Juda's.
21:25 Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
21:26 Und man begrub ihn in seinem Grabe im Garten Usas. Und sein Sohn Josia ward König an seiner Statt.
21:26 And he was buried in his tomb in the garden of Uzza: and Josiah his son reigned in his position.

22:1 Josia war acht Jahre alt, da er König ward, und regierte einunddreißig Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Jedida, eine Tochter Adajas, von Bozkath.
22:1 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath.
22:2 Und er tat was dem HERRN wohl gefiel, und wandelte in allem Wege seines Vaters David und wich nicht, weder zur Rechten noch zur Linken.
22:2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.
22:3 Und im achtzehnten Jahr des Königs Josia sandte der König hin Saphan, den Sohn Azaljas, des Sohnes Mesullams, den Schreiber, in das Haus des HERRN und sprach:
22:3 And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the LORD, saying,
22:4 Gehe hinauf zu dem Hohenpriester Hilkia, daß er abgebe alles Geld, das zum Hause des HERRN gebracht ist, das die Türhüter gesammelt haben vom Volk,
22:4 Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people:
22:5 daß man es gebe den Werkmeistern, die bestellt sind im Hause des HERRN, und sie es geben den Arbeitern am Hause des HERRN, daß sie bessern, was baufällig ist am Hause,
22:5 And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house,
22:6 nämlich den Zimmerleuten und Bauleuten und Maurern und denen, die da Holz und gehauene Steine kaufen sollen, das Haus zu bessern;
22:6 Unto carpenters, and builders, and stone workers, and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house.
22:7 doch daß man keine Rechnung von ihnen nehme von dem Geld, das unter ihre Hand getan wird, sondern daß sie auf Glauben handeln.
22:7 Nevertheless there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand, because they dealt faithfully.
22:8 Und der Hohepriester Hilkia sprach zu dem Schreiber Saphan: Ich habe das Gesetzbuch gefunden im Hause des HERRN. Und Hilkia gab das Buch Saphan, daß er's läse.
22:8 And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
22:9 Und Saphan, der Schreiber kam zum König und gab ihm Bericht und sprach: Deine Knechte haben das Geld ausgeschüttet, das im Hause gefunden ist und haben's den Werkmeistern gegeben, die bestellt sind am Hause des HERRN.
22:9 And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Your servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD.
22:10 Auch sagte Saphan, der Schreiber, dem König und sprach: Hilkia, der Priester, gab mir ein Buch. Und Saphan las es vor dem König.
22:10 And Shaphan the scribe showed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest has delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
22:11 Da aber der König hörte die Worte im Gesetzbuch, zerriß er seine Kleider.
22:11 And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.
22:12 Und der König gebot Hilkia, dem Priester, und Ahikam, dem Sohn Saphans, und Achbor, dem Sohn Michajas, und Saphan, dem Schreiber, und Asaja dem Knecht des Königs, und sprach:
22:12 And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king's, saying,
22:13 Gehet hin und fraget den HERRN für mich, für dies Volk und für ganz Juda um die Worte dieses Buches, das gefunden ist; denn es ist ein großer Grimm des HERRN, der über uns entbrannt ist, darum daß unsre Väter nicht gehorcht haben den Worten dieses Buches, daß sie täten alles, was darin geschrieben ist.
22:13 Go all of you, enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.
22:14 Da gingen hin Hilkia, der Priester, Ahikam, Achbor, Saphan und Asaja zu der Prophetin Hulda, dem Weibe Sallums, des Sohnes Thikwas, des Sohnes Harhas, des Hüters der Kleider, und sie wohnte zu Jerusalem im andern Teil; und sie redeten mit ihr.
22:14 So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed with her.
22:15 Sie aber sprach zu ihnen: So spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Saget dem Mann, der euch zu mir gesandt hat:
22:15 And she said unto them, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me,
22:16 So spricht der HERR: Siehe, ich will Unglück über diese Stätte und ihre Einwohner bringen, alle Worte des Gesetzes, die der König Juda's hat lassen lesen.
22:16 Thus says the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read:
22:17 Darum, daß sie mich verlassen und andern Göttern geräuchert haben, mich zu erzürnen mit allen Werken ihrer Hände, darum wird mein Grimm sich wider diese Stätte entzünden und nicht ausgelöscht werden.
22:17 Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.
22:18 Aber dem König Juda's, der euch gesandt hat, den HERRN zu fragen, sollt ihr sagen: So spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels:
22:18 But to the king of Judah which sent you to enquire of the LORD, thus shall all of you say to him, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, As concerning the words which you have heard;
22:19 Darum daß dein Herz erweicht ist über den Worten, die du gehört hast, und hast dich gedemütigt vor dem HERRN, da du hörtest, was ich geredet habe wider diese Stätte und ihre Einwohner, daß sie sollen eine Verwüstung und ein Fluch sein, und hast deine Kleider zerrissen und hast geweint vor mir, so habe ich's auch erhört, spricht der HERR.
22:19 Because yours heart was tender, and you have humbled yourself before the LORD, when you heard what I spoke against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and have rent your clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard you, says the LORD.
22:20 Darum will ich dich zu deinen Vätern sammeln, daß du mit Frieden in dein Grab versammelt werdest und deine Augen nicht sehen all das Unglück, das ich über diese Stätte bringen will. Und sie sagten es dem König wieder.
22:20 Behold therefore, I will gather you unto your fathers, and you shall be gathered into your grave in peace; and yours eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.

23:1 And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.
23:2 Und der König ging hinauf ins Haus des HERRN und alle Männer von Juda und alle Einwohner von Jerusalem mit ihm, Priester und Propheten, und alles Volk, klein und groß; und man las vor ihren Ohren alle Worte aus dem Buch des Bundes, das im Hause des HERRN gefunden war.
23:2 And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.
23:3 Und der König trat an die Säule und machte einen Bund vor dem HERRN, daß sie sollten wandeln dem HERRN nach und halten seine Gebote, Zeugnisse und Rechte von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele, daß sie aufrichteten die Worte dieses Bundes, die geschrieben standen in diesem Buch. Und alles Volk trat in den Bund.
23:3 And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.
23:4 Und der König gebot dem Hohenpriester Hilkia und den nächsten Priestern nach ihm und den Hütern an der Schwelle, daß sie sollten aus dem Tempel des HERRN tun alle Geräte, die dem Baal und der Aschera und allem Heer des Himmels gemacht waren. Und sie verbrannten sie außen vor Jerusalem im Tal Kidron, und ihr Staub ward getragen gen Beth-El.
23:4 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel.
23:5 Und er tat ab die Götzenpfaffen, welche die Könige Juda's hatten eingesetzt, zu räuchern auf den Höhen in den Städten Juda's und um Jerusalem her, auch die Räucherer des Baal und der Sonne und des Mondes und der Planeten und alles Heeres am Himmel.
23:5 And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
23:6 Und ließ das Ascherabild aus dem Hause des HERRN führen hinaus vor Jerusalem an den Bach Kidron und verbrannte es am Bach Kidron und machte es zu Staub und man warf den Staub auf die Gräber der gemeinen Leute.
23:6 And he brought out the grove from the house of the LORD, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.
23:7 Und er brach ab die Häuser der Hurer, die an dem Hause des HERRN waren, darin die Weiber wirkten Häuser für die Aschera.
23:7 And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.
23:8 Und ließ kommen alle Priester aus den Städten Juda's und verunreinigte die Höhen, da die Priester räucherten, von Geba an bis gen Beer-Seba, und brach ab die Höhen an den Toren, die an der Tür des Tors Josuas, des Stadtvogts, waren und zur Linken, wenn man zum Tor der Stadt geht.
23:8 And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man's left hand at the gate of the city.
23:9 Doch durften die Priester der Höhen nicht opfern auf dem Altar des HERRN zu Jerusalem, sondern aßen ungesäuertes Brot unter ihren Brüdern.
23:9 Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren.
23:10 Er verunreinigte auch das Topheth im Tal der Kinder Hinnom, daß niemand seinen Sohn oder seine Tochter dem Moloch durchs Feuer ließ gehen.
23:10 And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.
23:11 Und tat ab die Rosse, welche die Könige Juda's hatten der Sonne gesetzt am Eingang des Hauses des HERRN, an der Kammer Nethan-Melechs, des Kämmerers, die im Parwarim war; und die Wagen der Sonne verbrannte er mit Feuer.
23:11 And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the LORD, by the chamber of Nathanmelech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.
23:12 Und die Altäre auf dem Dach, dem Söller des Ahas, die die Könige Juda's gemacht hatten, und die Altäre, die Manasse gemacht hatte in den zwei Höfen des Hauses des HERRN, brach der König ab, und lief von dannen und warf ihren Staub in den Bach Kidron.
23:12 And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.
23:13 Auch die Höhen, die vor Jerusalem waren, zur Rechten am Berge des Verderbens, die Salomo, der König Israels, gebaut hatte der Asthoreth, dem Greuel von Sidon, und Kamos, ,dem Greuel von Moab, und Milkom, dem Greuel der Kinder Ammon, verunreinigte der König,
23:13 And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.
23:14 und zerbrach die Säulen und rottete aus die Ascherabilder und füllte ihre Stätte mit Menschenknochen.
23:14 And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.
23:15 Auch den Altar zu Beth-El, die Höhe, die Jerobeam gemacht hatte, der Sohn Nebats, der Israel sündigen machte, denselben Altar brach er ab und die Höhe und verbrannte die Höhe und machte sie zu Staub und verbrannte das Ascherabild.
23:15 Moreover the altar that was at Bethel, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove.
23:16 Und Josia wandte sich und sah die Gräber, die da waren auf dem Berge, und sandte hin und ließ die Knochen aus den Gräbern holen und verbrannte sie auf dem Altar und verunreinigte ihn nach dem Wort des HERRN, das der Mann Gottes ausgerufen hatte, der solches ausrief.
23:16 And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchers that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchers, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.
23:17 Und er sprach: Was ist das für ein Grabmal, das ich sehe? Und die Leute in der Stadt sprachen zu ihm: Es ist das Grab des Mannes Gottes, der von Juda kam und rief solches aus, das du getan hast wider den Altar zu Beth-El.
23:17 Then he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the tomb of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that you have done against the altar of Bethel.
23:18 Und er sprach: Laßt ihn liegen; niemand bewege seine Gebeine! Also wurden seine Gebeine errettet mit den Gebeinen des Propheten, der von Samaria gekommen war.
23:18 And he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.
23:19 Er tat auch weg alle Häuser der Höhen in den Städten Samarias, welche die Könige Israel gemacht hatten, (den HERRN) zu erzürnen, und tat mit ihnen ganz wie er zu Beth-El getan hatte. {~}
23:19 And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the Lord to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.
23:20 Und er opferte alle Priester der Höhen, die daselbst waren, auf den Altären und verbrannte also Menschengebeine darauf und kam wieder gen Jerusalem.
23:20 And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there upon the altars, and burned men's bones upon them, and returned to Jerusalem.
23:21 Und der König gebot dem Volk und sprach: Haltet dem HERRN, eurem Gott, Passah, wie es geschrieben steht in diesem Buch des Bundes!
23:21 And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the LORD your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.
23:22 Denn es war kein Passah so gehalten wie dieses von der Richter Zeit an, die Israel gerichtet haben, und in allen Zeiten der Könige Israels und der Könige Juda's;
23:22 Surely there was not held such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;
23:23 sondern im achtzehnten Jahr des Königs Josia ward dieses Passah gehalten dem HERRN zu Jerusalem.
23:23 But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, wherein this passover was held to the LORD in Jerusalem.
23:24 Auch fegte Josia aus alle Wahrsager, Zeichendeuter, Bilder und Götzen und alle Greuel, die im Lande Juda und zu Jerusalem gesehen wurden, auf daß er aufrichtete die Worte des Gesetzes, die geschrieben standen im Buch, das Hilkia, der Priester, fand im Hause des HERRN.
23:24 Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.
23:25 Seinesgleichen war vor ihm kein König gewesen, der so von ganzem Herzen, von ganzer Seele, von allen Kräften sich zum HERRN bekehrte nach allem Gesetz Mose's; und nach ihm kam seinesgleichen nicht auf.
23:25 And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.
23:26 Doch kehrte sich der Herr nicht von dem Grimm seines Zorns, mit dem er über Juda erzürnt war um all der Reizungen willen, durch die ihn Manasse gereizt hatte.
23:26 Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him likewise.
23:27 Und der HERR sprach: Ich will Juda auch von meinem Angesicht tun, wie ich Israel weggetan habe, und will diese Stadt verwerfen, die ich erwählt hatte, Jerusalem, und das Haus, davon ich gesagt habe: Mein Namen soll daselbst sein.
23:27 And the LORD said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.
23:28 Was aber mehr von Josia zu sagen ist und alles, was er getan hat, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Juda's.
23:28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
23:29 Zu seiner Zeit zog Pharao Necho, der König in Ägypten, herauf wider den König von Assyrien an das Wasser Euphrat. Aber der König Josia zog ihm entgegen und starb zu Megiddo, da er ihn gesehen hatte.
23:29 In his days Pharaohnechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.
23:30 Und seine Knechte führten ihn tot von Megiddo und brachten ihn gen Jerusalem und begruben ihn in seinem Grabe. Und das Volk im Lande nahm Joahas, den Sohn Josias, und salbten ihn und machten ihn zum König an seines Vaters Statt.
23:30 And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own tomb. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's position.
23:31 Dreiundzwanzig Jahre war Joahas alt, da er König ward, und regierte drei Monate zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Hamutal, eine Tochter Jeremia's von Libna.
23:31 Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
23:32 Und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, wie seine Väter getan hatten.
23:32 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.
23:33 Aber Pharao Necho legte ihn ins Gefängnis zu Ribla im Lande Hamath, daß er nicht regieren sollte in Jerusalem, und legte eine Schatzung aufs Land: hundert Zentner Silber und einen Zentner Gold.
23:33 And Pharaohnechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.
23:34 Und Pharao Necho machte zum König Eljakim, den Sohn Josias, anstatt seines Vaters Josia und wandte seinen Namen in Jojakim. Aber Joahas nahm er und brachte ihn nach Ägypten; daselbst starb er.
23:34 And Pharaohnechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.
23:35 Und Jojakim gab das Silber und das Gold Pharao. Doch schätzte er das Land, daß es solches Silber gäbe nach Befehl Pharaos; einen jeglichen nach seinem Vermögen schätzte er am Silber und Gold unter dem Volk im Lande, daß er es dem Pharao Necho gäbe.
23:35 And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaohnechoh.
23:36 Fünfundzwanzig Jahre alt war Jojakim, da er König ward, und regierte elf Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Sebuda, eine Tochter Pedajas von Ruma.
23:36 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.
23:37 Und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, wie seine Väter getan hatten.
23:37 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.

24:1 Zu seiner Zeit zog herauf Nebukadnezar, der König zu Babel, und Jojakim war ihm untertänig drei Jahre; und er wandte sich und ward abtrünnig von ihm.
24:1 In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years: then he turned and rebelled against him.
24:2 Und der HERR ließ auf ihn Kriegsknechte kommen aus Chaldäa, aus Syrien, aus Moab und aus den Kindern Ammon und ließ sie nach Juda kommen, daß sie es verderbten, nach dem Wort des HERRN, das er geredet hatte durch seine Knechte, die Propheten.
24:2 And the LORD sent against him bands of the Chaldees, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke by his servants the prophets.
24:3 Es geschah aber Juda also nach dem Wort des HERRN, daß er sie von seinem Angesicht täte um der Sünden willen Manasses, die er getan hatte;
24:3 Surely at the commandment of the LORD came this upon Judah, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did;
24:4 auch um des unschuldigen Blutes willen, das er vergoß und machte Jerusalem voll mit unschuldigem Blut, wollte der HERR nicht vergeben.
24:4 And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.
24:5 Was aber mehr zu sagen ist von Jojakim und alles, was er getan hat, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Chronik der Könige Juda's.
24:5 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
24:6 Und Jojakim entschlief mit seinen Vätern. Und sein Sohn Jojachin ward König an seiner Statt.
24:6 So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his position.
24:7 Und der König von Ägypten zog nicht mehr aus seinem Lande; denn der König zu Babel hatte ihm genommen alles, was dem König zu Ägypten gehörte vom Bach Ägyptens an bis an das Wasser Euphrat.
24:7 And the king of Egypt came not again any more out of his land: for the king of Babylon had taken from the river of Egypt unto the river Euphrates all that pertained to the king of Egypt.
24:8 Achtzehn Jahre alt war Jojachin, da er König ward, und regierte drei Monate zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Nehusta, eine Tochter Elnathans von Jerusalem.
24:8 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. And his mother's name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.
24:9 Und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, wie sein Vater getan hatte.
24:9 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father had done.
24:10 Zu der Zeit zogen herauf die Knechte Nebukadnezars, des Königs von Babel, gen Jerusalem und kamen an die Stadt mit Bollwerk.
24:10 At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.
24:11 Und Nebukadnezar kam zur Stadt, da seine Knechte sie belagerten. {~} {~}
24:11 And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against the city, and his servants did besiege it.
24:12 Aber Jojachin, der König Juda's, ging heraus zum König von Babel mit seiner Mutter, mit seinen Knechten, mit seinen Obersten und Kämmerern; und der König von Babel nahm ihn gefangen im achten Jahr seines Königreiches.
24:12 And Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign.
24:13 Und er nahm von dort heraus alle Schätze im Hause des HERRN und im Hause des Königs und zerschlug alle goldenen Gefäße, die Salomo, der König Israels, gemacht hatte im Tempel des HERRN, wie denn der HERR geredet hatte.
24:13 And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.
24:14 Und führte weg das ganze Jerusalem, alle Obersten, alle Gewaltigen, zehntausend Gefangene, und alle Zimmerleute und alle Schmiede und ließ nichts übrig denn geringes Volk des Landes.
24:14 And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valour, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths: none remained, save the poorest sort of the people of the land.
24:15 Und er führte weg Jojachin gen Babel, die Mutter des Königs, die Weiber des Königs und seine Kämmerer; dazu die Mächtigen im Lande führte er auch gefangen von Jerusalem gen Babel,
24:15 And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his officers, and the mighty of the land, those carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.
24:16 und was der besten Leute waren, siebentausend, und Zimmerleute und Schmiede, tausend, alles starke Kriegsmänner; und der König von Babel brachte sie gen Babel.
24:16 And all the men of might, even seven thousand, and craftsmen and smiths a thousand, all that were strong and able for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.
24:17 Und der König von Babel machte Matthanja, Jojachins Oheim, zum König an seiner Statt und wandelte seinen Namen in Zedekia.
24:17 And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah his father's brother king in his position, and changed his name to Zedekiah.
24:18 Einundzwanzig Jahre alt war Zedekia, da er König ward, und regierte elf Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Hamutal, eine Tochter Jeremia's von Libna.
24:18 Zedekiah was twenty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
24:19 Und er tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, wie Jojakim getan hatte.
24:19 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.
24:20 Denn es geschah also mit Jerusalem und Juda aus dem Zorn des HERRN, bis daß er sie von seinem Angesicht würfe. Und Zedekia ward abtrünnig vom König zu Babel.
24:20 For through the anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

25:1 Und es begab sich im neunten Jahr seines Königreichs, am zehnten Tag des zehnten Monats, kam Nebukadnezar, der König zu Babel, mit aller seiner Macht wider Jerusalem; und sie lagerten sich dawider und bauten Bollwerke darum her.
25:1 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about.
25:2 Also ward die Stadt belagert bis ins elfte Jahr des Königs Zedekia.
25:2 And the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.
25:3 Aber am neunten Tag des (vierten) Monats ward der Hunger stark in der Stadt, daß das Volk des Landes nichts zu essen hatte.
25:3 And on the ninth day of the fourth month the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.
25:4 Da brach man in die Stadt; und alle Kriegsmänner flohen bei der Nacht auf dem Wege durch das Tor zwischen zwei Mauern, der zu des Königs Garten geht. Aber die Chaldäer lagen um die Stadt. Und er floh des Weges zum blachen Felde.
25:4 And the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between two walls, which is by the king's garden: (now the Chaldees were against the city round about:) and the king went the way toward the plain.
25:5 Aber die Macht der Chaldäer jagte dem König nach, und sie ergriffen ihn im blachen Felde zu Jericho, und alle Kriegsleute, die bei ihm waren, wurden von ihm zerstreut.
25:5 And the army of the Chaldees pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho: and all his army were scattered from him.
25:6 Sie aber griffen den König und führten ihn hinauf zum König von Babel gen Ribla; und sie sprachen ein Urteil über ihn.
25:6 So they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment upon him.
25:7 Und sie schlachteten die Kinder Zedekias vor seinen Augen und blendeten Zedekia die Augen und banden ihn mit Ketten und führten ihn gen Babel.
25:7 And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and carried him to Babylon.
25:8 Am siebenten Tag des fünften Monats, das ist das neunzehnte Jahr Nebukadnezars, des Königs zu Babel, kam Nebusaradan, der Hauptmann der Trabanten, des Königs zu Babels Knecht, gen Jerusalem
25:8 And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem:
25:9 und verbrannte das Haus des HERRN und das Haus des Königs und alle Häuser zu Jerusalem; alle großen Häuser verbrannte er mit Feuer.
25:9 And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man's house burnt he with fire.
25:10 Und die ganze Macht der Chaldäer, die mit dem Hauptmann war, zerbrach die Mauer um Jerusalem her.
25:10 And all the army of the Chaldees, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about.
25:11 Das andere Volk aber, das übrig war in der Stadt, und die zum König von Babel fielen, und den andern Haufen führte Nebusaradan, der Hauptmann, weg. {~}
25:11 Now the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carry away.
25:12 Und von den Geringsten im Lande ließ der Hauptmann Weingärtner und Ackerleute.
25:12 But the captain of the guard left of the door of the poor of the land to be vinedressers and husbandmen.
25:13 Aber die ehernen Säulen am Hause des HERRN und die Gestühle und das eherne Meer, das am Hause des HERRN war, zerbrachen die Chaldäer und führten das Erz gen Babel.
25:13 And the pillars of brass that were in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brazen sea that was in the house of the LORD, did the Chaldees break in pieces, and carried the brass of them to Babylon.
25:14 Und die Töpfe, Schaufeln, Messer, Löffel und alle ehernen Gefäße, womit man diente, nahmen sie weg.
25:14 And the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered, took they away.
25:15 Dazu nahm der Hauptmann die Pfannen und Becken, was golden und silbern war,
25:15 And the fire-pans, and the bowls, and such things as were of gold, in gold, and of silver, in silver, the captain of the guard took away.
25:16 die zwei Säulen, das Meer und das Gestühle, das Salomo gemacht hatte zum Hause des HERRN. Es war nicht zu wägen das Erz aller dieser Gefäße.
25:16 The two pillars, one sea, and the bases which Solomon had made for the house of the LORD; the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
25:17 Achtzehn Ellen hoch war eine Säule, und ihr Knauf darauf war auch ehern und drei Ellen hoch, und das Gitterwerk und die Granatäpfel an dem Knauf umher war alles ehern. Auf diese Weise war auch die andere Säule mit dem Gitterwerk.
25:17 The height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and the capital upon it was brass: and the height of the capital three cubits; and the interwoven work, and pomegranates upon the capital round about, all of brass: and like unto these had the second pillar with interwoven work.
25:18 Und der Hauptmann nahm den Obersten Priester Seraja und den Priester Zephania, den nächsten nach ihm, und die drei Türhüter
25:18 And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door:
25:19 und einen Kämmerer aus der Stadt, der gesetzt war über die Kriegsmänner, und fünf Männer, die stets vor dem König waren, die in der Stadt gefunden wurden, und den Schreiber des Feldhauptmanns, der das Volk im Lande zum Heer aufbot, und sechzig Mann vom Volk auf dem Lande, die in der Stadt gefunden wurden; {~}
25:19 And out of the city he took an officer that was set over the men of war, and five men of them that were in the king's presence, which were found in the city, and the principal scribe of the host, which mustered the people of the land, and threescore men of the people of the land that were found in the city:
25:20 diese brachte Nebusaradan, der Hauptmann, und brachte sie zum König von Babel zu Ribla.
25:20 And Nebuzaradan captain of the guard took these, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah:
25:21 Und der König von Babel schlug sie tot zu Ribla im Lande Hamath. Also ward Juda weggeführt aus seinem Lande.
25:21 And the king of Babylon stroke them, and slew them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away out of their land.
25:22 Aber über das übrige Volk im Lande Juda, das Nebukadnezar, der König von Babel, übrigließ, setzte er Gedalja, den Sohn Ahikams, des Sohnes Saphans.
25:22 And as for the people that remained in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, even over them he made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, ruler.
25:23 Da nun alle Hauptleute des Kriegsvolks und die Männer hörten, daß der König von Babel Gedalja eingesetzt hatte, kamen sie zu Gedalja gen Mizpa, nämlich Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, und Johanan, der Sohn Kareahs, und Seraja, der Sohn Thanhumeths, der Netophathiter, und Jaasanja, der Sohn des Maachathiters, samt ihren Männern.
25:23 And when all the captains of the armies, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, there came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of Careah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
25:24 Und Gedalja schwur ihnen und ihren Männern und sprach zu ihnen: Fürchtet euch nicht, untertan zu sein den Chaldäern; bleibet im Lande und seid untertänig dem König von Babel, so wird's euch wohl gehen!
25:24 And Gedaliah swore to them, and to their men, and said unto them, Fear not to be the servants of the Chaldees: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon; and it shall be well with you.
25:25 Aber im siebenten Monat kam Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, des Sohnes Elisamas, vom königlichen Geschlecht, und zehn Männer mit ihm, und sie schlugen Gedalja tot, dazu die Juden und Chaldäer, die bei ihm waren zu Mizpa.
25:25 But it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, came, and ten men with him, and stroke Gedaliah, that he died, and the Jews and the Chaldees that were with him at Mizpah.
25:26 Da machte sich auf alles Volk, klein und groß, und die Obersten des Kriegsvolks und kamen nach Ägypten; denn sie fürchteten sich vor den Chaldäern.
25:26 And all the people, both small and great, and the captains of the armies, arose, and came to Egypt: for they were afraid of the Chaldees.
25:27 Aber im siebenunddreißigsten Jahr, nachdem Jojachin, der König Juda's, weggeführt war, am siebenundzwanzigsten Tag des zwölften Monats, hob Evil-Merodach, der König zu Babel im ersten Jahr seines Königreichs das Haupt Jojachins, des Königs Juda's, aus dem Kerker hervor
25:27 And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the year that he began to reign did lift up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison;
25:28 und redete freundlich mit ihm und setzte seinen Stuhl über die Stühle der Könige, die bei ihm waren zu Babel,
25:28 And he spoke kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon;
25:29 und wandelte die Kleider seines Gefängnisses, und er aß allewege vor ihm sein Leben lang;
25:29 And changed his prison garments: and he did eat bread continually before him all the days of his life.
25:30 und es ward ihm ein Teil bestimmt, das man ihm allewege gab vom König, auf einen jeglichen Tag sein ganzes Leben lang. {~}
25:30 And his allowance was a continual allowance given him of the king, a daily rate for every day, all the days of his life.
