1:1 神の御旨によるキリスト・イエスの使徒パウロから、エペソにいる、キリスト・イエスにあって忠実な聖徒たちへ。
1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
1:2 わたしたちの父なる神と主イエス・キリストから、恵みと平安とが、あなたがたにあるように
1:2 Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
1:3 ほむべきかな、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの父なる神。神はキリストであって、天上で霊のもろもろの祝福をもって、わたしたちを祝福し、
1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
1:4 みまえにきよく傷のない者となるようにと、天地の造られる前から、キリストにあってわたしたちを選び、
1:4 According as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: (o. agape)
1:5 わたしたちに、イエス・キリストによって神の子たる身分を授けるようにと、御旨のよしとするところに従い、愛のうちにあらかじめ定めて下さったのである。
1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
1:6 これは、その愛する御子によって賜った栄光ある恵みを、わたしたちがほめたたえるためである。
1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he has made us accepted in the beloved.
1:7 わたしたちは、御子にあって、神の豊かな恵みのゆえに、その血によるあがない、すなわち、罪過のゆるしを受けたのである。
1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
1:8 神はその恵みをさらに増し加えて、あらゆる知恵と悟りとをわたしたちに賜り、
1:8 Wherein he has abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
1:9 御旨の奥義を、自らあらかじめ定められた計画に従って、わたしたちに示して下さったのである。
1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he has purposed in himself:
1:10 それは、時の満ちるに及んで実現されるご計画にほかならない。それによって、神は天にあるものを地にあるものを、ことごとく、キリストにあって一つに帰せしめようとされたのである。
1:10 That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
1:11 わたしたちは、御旨の欲するまますべての事をなさるかたの目的の下に、キリストにあってあらかじめ定められ、神の民として選ばれたのである。
1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will:
1:12 それは、早くからキリストに望みをおいているわたしたちが、神の栄光をほめたたえる者となるためである。
1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
1:13 あなたがたもまた、キリストにあって、真理の言葉、すなわち、あなたがたの救いの福音を聞き、また、彼を信じた結果、約束された聖霊の証印をおされたのである。
1:13 In whom all of you also trusted, after that all of you heard the word (o. logos) of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that all of you believed, all of you were sealed with that holy Spirit (o. pneuma) of promise,
1:14 この聖霊は、わたしたちが神の国をつぐことの保証であって、やがて神につける者が全くあがなられ、神の栄光をほめたたえるに至るためである。
1:14 Which is the earn of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
1:15 こういうわけで、わたしも、主イエスに対するあなたがたの信仰と、すべての聖徒に対する愛とを耳にし、
1:15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love (o. agape) unto all the saints,
1:16 わたしの祈りのたびごとにあなたがたを覚えて、絶えずあなたがたのために感謝している。
1:16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
1:18 どうか、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの神、栄光の父が、知恵と啓示との霊をあなたがたに賜って神を認めさせ、
1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit (o. pneuma) of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
1:18 あなたがたの心の目を明らかにして下さるように、そして、あなたがたが神に召されていだいている望みがどんなものであるか、聖徒たちがつぐべき神の国がいかに栄光に富んだものであるか、
1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that all of you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
1:19 また、神の力強い活動によって働く力が、わたしたち信じる者にとっていかに絶大なものであるかを、あなたがたが知るに至るように、と祈っている。
1:19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
1:20 神はその力をキリストのうちに働かせて、彼を死人の中からよみがえらせ、天上においてご自分の右に座さしめ、
1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
1:21 彼を、すべての支配、権威、権力、権勢の上におき、また、この世ばかりでなくきたるべき世においても唱えられる、あらゆる名の上におかれたのである。
1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
1:22 そして、万物をキリストの足の下に従わせ、彼を万物の上にかしらとして教会に与えられた。
1:22 And has put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
1:23 この教会はキリストのからだであって、すべてのものを、すべてのもののうちに満たしているかたが、満ちみちているものに、ほかならない。
1:23 Which is his body, the fullness of him that fills all in all.
2:1 さてあなたがたは、先には自分の罪過と罪とによって死んでいた者であって、
2:1 And you has he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2:2 かつてはそれらの中で、この世のならわしに従い、空中の権をもつ君、すなわち、不従順の子らの中に今も働いている霊に従って、歩いていたのである。
2:2 Wherein in time past all of you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit (o. pneuma) that now works in the children of disobedience:
2:3 また、わたしたちもみな、かつては彼らの中にいて、肉の欲に従って日を過ごし、肉とその思いとの欲するままを行い、ほかの人々と同じく、生まれながらの怒りの子であった。
2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
2:4 しかるに、あわれみに富む神は、わたしたちを愛して下さってその大きな愛をもって、
2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love (o. agape) wherewith he loved us,
2:5 罪過によって死んでいたわたしたちを、キリストと共に生かしーーあなたがたの救われたのは、恵みによるものであるーー
2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, has quickened us together with Christ, (by grace all of you are saved;)
2:6 キリスト・イエスにあって、共によみがえらせ、共に天上で座につかせて下さったのである。
2:6 And has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
2:7 それは、キリスト・イエスにあってわたしたちに賜った慈愛による神の恵みの絶大な富を、きたるべき世々に示すためであった。
2:7 That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
2:8 あなたがたの救われたのは、実に、恵みにより、信仰によるのである。それは、あなたがた自身から出たものではなく、神の賜物である。
2:8 For by grace are all of you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
2:9 決して行いによるのではない。それは、だれも誇ることがないためなのである。
2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
2:10 わたしたちは神の作品であって、良い行いをするように、キリスト・イエスにあって造られたのである。神は、わたしたちが、良い行いをして日を過ごすようにと、あらかじめ備えて下さったのである。
2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.
2:11 だから、記憶しておきなさい。あなたがたは以前には、肉によれば異邦人であって、手で行った肉の割礼ある者と称せられる人々からは、無割礼の者と呼ばれており、
2:11 Wherefore remember, that all of you being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
2:12 またその当時は、キリストを知らず、イスラエルの国籍がなく、約束されたいろいろの契約に縁がなく、この世の中で希望もなく神もない者であった。
2:12 That at that time all of you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
2:13 ところが、あなたがたは、このように以前は遠く離れていたが、今ではキリスト・イエスにあって、キリストの血によって近いものとなったのである。
2:13 But now in Christ Jesus all of you who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
2:14 キリストはわたしたちの平和であって、二つのものを一つにし、敵意という隔ての中垣を取り除き、ご自分の肉によって、
2:14 For he is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
2:15 数々の規定から成り立っている戒めの律法を廃棄したのである。それは、彼にあって、二つのものをひとりの新しい人に造りかえて平和をきたらせ、
2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; in order to make in himself of two one new man, so making peace;
2:16 十字架によって、二つのものを一つのからだとして神と和解させ、敵意を十字架にかけて滅ぼしてしまったのである。
2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
2:17 それから彼は、こられた上で、遠く離れているあなたがたに平和を宣べ伝え、また近くにいる者たちにも平和を宣べ伝えられたのである。
2:17 And came and preached peace to you which were far off, and to them that were nigh.
2:18 というのは、彼によって、わたしたち両方の者が一つの御霊の中にあって、父のみもとに近づくことができるからである。
2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit (o. pneuma) unto the Father.
2:19 そこであなたがたは、もはや異国人でも宿り人でもなく、聖徒たちと同じ国籍の者であり、神の家族なのである。
2:19 Now therefore all of you are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
2:20 またあなたがたは、使徒たちや預言者たちという土台の上に建てられたものであって、キリスト・イエスご自身が隅のかしら石である。
2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
2:21 このキリストにあって、建物全体が組み合わされ、主にある聖なる宮に成長し、
2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together grows unto an holy temple in the Lord:
2:22 そしてあなたがたも、主にあって共に建てられて、霊のすまいとなるのである。
2:22 In whom all of you also are built together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. (o. pneuma)
3:1 こういうわけで、あなたがた異邦人のためにキリスト・イエスの囚人となっているこのパウローー
3:1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
3:2 わたしがあなたがたのために神から賜った恵みの努について、あなたがたはたしかに聞いたであろう。
3:2 If all of you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me toward you:
3:3 すなわち、すでに簡単に書きおくったように、わたしは啓示によって奥義を知らされたのである。
3:3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote before in few words,
3:4 あなたがたはそれを読めば、キリストの奥義がわたしがどう理解しているかがわかる。
3:4 Whereby, when all of you read, all of you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
3:5 この奥義は、いまは、御霊によって彼の聖なる使徒たちと預言者たちとに啓示されているが、前の時代には、人の子らに対して、そのように知らされてはいなかったのである。
3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; (o. pneuma)
3:6 それは、異邦人が、福音によりキリスト・イエスにあって、わたしたちと共に神の国をつぐ者となり、共に一つのからだとなり、共に約束にあずかる者となることである。
3:6 That the Gentiles should be join heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
3:7 わたしは、神の力がわたしに働いて、自分に与えられた神の恵みの賜物により、福音の僕とされたりである。
3:7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
3:8 すなわち、聖徒たちのうちで最も小さい者であるわたしにこの恵みが与えられたが、それは、キリストの無尽蔵の富を異邦人に宣べ伝え、
3:8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
3:9 さらにまた、万物の造り主である神の中に世々隠されていた奥義にあずかる努めがどんなものであるかを、明らかに示すためである。
3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world has been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
3:10 それは今、天上にあるもろもろの支配や権威が、教会をとおして、神の多種多様な知恵を知るに至るためであって、
3:10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
3:11 わたしたちの主イエス・キリストにあって実現された神の永遠の目的にそうものである。
3:11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
3:12 この主キリストにあって、わたしたちは、彼に対する信仰によって、確信をもって大胆に神に近づくことができるのである。
3:12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
3:13 だから、あなたがたのためにわたしが受けている患難を見て、落胆しないでいてもらいたい。わたしの患難は、あなたがたの栄光なのである。
3:13 Wherefore I desire that all of you faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
3:14 こういうわけで、わたしはひざをかがめて、
3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
3:15 天上にあり地上にあって「父」と呼ばれているあらゆるものの源なる父に祈る。
3:15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
3:16 どうか父が、その栄光の富にしたがい、御霊により、力をもってあなたがたの内なる人を強くして下さるように、
3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit (o. pneuma) in the inner man;
3:17 また、信仰によって、キリストがあなたがたの心のうちに住み、あなたがたが愛に根ざし愛を基として生活することにより、
3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that all of you, being rooted and grounded in love, (o. agape)
3:18 すべての聖徒と共に、その広さ、長さ、高さ、深さを理解することができ、
3:18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
3:19 また人知をはるかに越えたキリストの愛を知って、神に満ちているもののすべてをもって、あなたがたが満たされるように、と祈る。
3:19 And to know the love (o. agape) of Christ, which passes knowledge, that all of you might be filled with all the fullness of God.
3:20 どうか、わたしたちのうちに働く力によって、わたしたちが求めまた思うところのいっさいを、はるかに越えてかなえて下さることができるかたに、
3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
3:21 教会により、また、キリスト・イエスによって、栄光が世々限りなくあるように、アァメン。
3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
4:1 さて、主にある囚人であるわたしは、あなたがたに勧める。あなたがたが召されたその召しにふさわしく歩き、
4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, plead to you that all of you walk worthy of the vocation wherewith all of you are called,
4:2 できる限り謙虚で、かつ柔和であり、寛容を示し、愛をもって互に忍びあい、
4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; (o. agape)
4:3 平和のきずなで結ばれて、聖霊による一致を守り続けるように努めなさい。
4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit (o. pneuma) in the bond of peace.
4:4 からだは一つ、御霊も一つである。あなたがたが召されたのは、一つの望みを目ざして召されたのと同様である。
4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, (o. pneuma) even as all of you are called in one hope of your calling;
4:5 主は一つ、信仰は一つ、バプテスマは一つ。
4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
4:6 すべてのものの上にあり、すべてのものを貫き、すべてのものの内にいます、すべてのものの父なる神は一つである。
4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
4:7 しかし、キリストから賜る賜物のはかりに従って、わたしたちひとりびとりに、恵みが与えられている。
4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
4:8 そこで、こう言われている、「彼は高いところに上った時、とりこを捕らえて引き行き、人々に賜物を分け与えた」。
4:8 Wherefore he says, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
4:9 さて、「上った」と言う以上、また地下の低い底にもおりてこられたわけではないか。
4:9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
4:10 降りてこられた者自身は、同時に、あらゆるものに満ちるために、もろもろの天の上まで上られたからなのである。
4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
4:11 そして彼は、ある人を使徒とし、ある人を預言者とし、ある人を伝道者とし、ある人を牧師、教師として、お立てになった。
4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
4:12 それは、聖徒たちをととのえて奉仕のわざをさせ、キリストのからだを建てさせ、
4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
4:13 わたしたちすべての者が、神の子を信じる信仰の一致と彼を知る知識の一致とに到達し、全ったき人となり、ついに、キリストの満ちみちた徳の高さにまで至るためである。
4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:
4:14 こうして、わたしたちはもはや子供ではないので、だまし惑わす策略により、人人の悪巧みによって起こる様々な教の風に吹きまわされたり、もてあそばれたりすることがなく、
4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed back and forth, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
4:15 愛にあって真理を語り、あらゆる点において成長し、かくらなるキリストに達するのである。
4:15 But speaking the truth in love, (o. agape) may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
4:16 また、キリストを基として、全身はすべての節々の助けにより、しっかりと組み合わされ結び合わされ、それぞれの部分は分に応じて働き、からだを成長させ、愛のうちに育てられていくのである。
4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. (o. agape)
4:17 そこで、わたしは主にあっておごそかに勧める。あなたがたは今後、異邦人がむなしい心で歩いているように歩いてはならない。
4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that all of you henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
4:18 彼らの知力は暗くなり、その内なる無知と心の硬化とにより、神のいのちから遠く離れ、
4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
4:19 自ら無感覚になって、ほしいままにあらゆる不潔な行いをして、放縦に身をゆだねている。
4:19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
4:20 しかしあなたがたは、そのようにキリストに学んだのではなかった。
4:20 But all of you have not so learned Christ;
4:21 あなたがたはたしかに彼に聞き、彼にあって教えられて、イエスにある真理をそのまま学んだはずである。
4:21 If so be that all of you have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
4:22 すなわち、あなたがたは、以前の生活に属する、情欲に迷って滅び行く古き人を脱ぎ捨て、
4:22 That all of you put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
4:23 心の深みまで新たにされて、
4:23 And be renewed in the spirit (o. pneuma) of your mind;
4:24 真の義と聖とをそなえた神にかたどって造られた新しい人を着るべきである。
4:24 And that all of you put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
4:25 こういうわけだから、あにたがたは偽りを捨てて、おのおの隣り人に対して、真実を語りなさい。わたしたちは、お互に肢体なのであるから。
4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
4:26 怒ることがあっても、罪を犯してはならない。憤ったままで、日が暮れるようであってはならない。
4:26 Be all of you angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
4:27 また、悪戯に機会を与えてはいけない。
4:27 Neither give place to the devil.
4:28 盗んだ者は、今後、盗んではならない。むしろ、貧しい人々に分け与えるようになるために、自分の手で正当な働きをしなさい。
4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needs.
4:29 悪い言葉をいっさい、あなたがたの口から出してはいけない。必要があれば、人の徳を高めるのに役立つような言葉を語って、聞いている者の益になるようにしなさい。
4:29 Let no corrupt communication (o. logos) proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
4:30 神の聖霊を悲しませてはいけない。あなたがたは、あがないの日のために、聖霊の証印を受けたのである。
4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit (o. pneuma) of God, whereby all of you are sealed unto the day of redemption.
4:31 すべての無慈悲、憤り、怒り、騒ぎ、そしり、また、いっさいの悪意を捨て去りなさい。
4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
4:32 互に情深く、あわれみ深い者となり、神がキリストにあってあなたがたをゆるして下さったように、あなたがたも互にゆるし合いなさい。
4:32 And be all of you kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you.
5:1 こうして、あなたがは、神に愛されている子供として、神にならう者になりなさい。
5:1 Be all of you therefore followers of God, as dear children;
5:2 また愛のうちを歩きなさい。キリストもあなたがたを愛して下さって、わたしたちのために、ご自身を、神へのかんばしいかおりのささげ物、また、いけにえとしてささげられたのである。
5:2 And walk in love, (o. agape) as Christ also has loved us, and has given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.
5:3 また、不品行といろいろな汚れや貪欲などを、聖徒にふさわしく、あなたがたの間では、口にすることさえしてはならない。
5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becomes saints;
5:4 また、卑しい言葉と愚かな話やみだらな冗談を避けなさい。これらは、よろしくない事である。それよりは、むしろ感謝をささげなさい。
5:4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5:5 あなたがたはよく知っておなねばならない。すべて不品行な者、汚れたことをする者、貪欲な者、すなわち、偶像を礼拝する者は、キリストと神との国をつぐことができない。
5:5 For this all of you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
5:6 あなたがたは、だれも不誠実な言葉でだまされてはいけない。これらのことから、神の怒りは不従順の子らに下るのである。
5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: (o. logos) for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
5:7 だから、彼らの仲間になってはいけない。
5:7 Be not all of you therefore partakers with them.
5:8 あなたがたは、以前はやみであったが、今は主にあって光となっている。光の子らしく歩きなさいーー
5:8 For all of you were sometimes darkness, but now are all of you light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
5:9 光はあらゆる善意と正義と真実との実を結ばせるものであるーー
5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit (o. pneuma) is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
5:10 主に喜ばれるものがなんであるかを、わきまえ知りなさい。
5:10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
5:11 実を結ばないやみのわざに加わらないで、むしろ、それを指摘してやりなさい。
5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
5:12 彼らが隠れて行っていることは、口にするだけでも恥ずかしい事である。
5:12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
5:13 しかし、光にさらされる時、すべてのものは、明らかになる。
5:13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever does make manifest is light.
5:14 明らかにされたものは皆、光となるのである。だから、こう書いてある、「眠っている者よ、起きなさい。死人の中から、立ち上がりなさい。そうすれば、キリストがあなたを照らすであろう」。
5:14 Wherefore he says, Awake you that sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.
5:15 そこで、あなたがたの歩きかたによく注意して、賢くない者のようにではなく、賢い者のように歩き、
5:15 See then that all of you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
5:16 今の時を生かして用いなさい。今は悪い時代なのである。
5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
5:17 だから、愚かな者にならないで、主の御旨がなんであるかを悟りなさい。
5:17 Wherefore be all of you not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
5:18 酒に酔ってはいけない。それは乱行のもとである。むしろ御霊に満たされて、
5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; (o. pneuma)
5:19 詩とさんびと霊の歌とをもって語り合い、主にむかって心からさんびの歌をうたいなさい。
5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
5:20 そしてすべてのことにつき、いつも、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの御名によって、父なる神に感謝し、
5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
5:21 キリストに対する恐れの心をもって、互に仕え合うべきである。
5:21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
5:22 妻たる者よ、主に仕えるように自分の夫に仕えなさい。
5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
5:23 キリストが教会のかしらであって、自らは、からだなる教会の救主であられるように、夫は妻のかしらである。
5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
5:24 そして教会がキリストに仕えるように、妻もすべてのことにおいて、夫に仕えるべきである。
5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
5:25 夫たる者よ。キリストが教会を愛してそのためにご自身をささげられたように、妻を愛しなさい。
5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
5:26 キリストがそうなさったのは、水で洗うことにより、言葉によって、教会をきよめて聖なるものとするためであり、
5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, (o. rhema)
5:27 また、しみも、しわも、そのたぐいのものがいっさいなく、清くて傷のない栄光の姿の教会を、ご自分に迎えるためである。
5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
5:28 それと同じく、夫も自分の妻を、自分のからだのように愛さねばならない。自分の妻を愛する者は、自分自身を愛するのである。
5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself.
5:29 自分自身を憎んだ者は、いまだかつて、ひとりもいない。かえって、キリストが教会になさったようにして、おのれを育て養うのが常である。
5:29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord the church:
5:30 わたしたちは、キリストのからだの肢体なのである。
5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
5:31 「それゆえに、人は父母を離れてその妻と結ばれ、ふたりの者は一体となるべきである」。
5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
5:32 この奥義は大きい。それは、キリストと教会とをさしている。
5:32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
5:33 いずれにしても、あなたがたは、それぞれ、自分の妻を自分自身のように愛しなさい。妻もまた夫を敬いなさい。
5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
6:1 子たる者よ。主にあって両親に従いなさい。これは正しいことである。
6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
6:2 「あなたの父と母とを敬え」。これが第一の戒めであって、次の約束がそれについている。
6:2 Honour your father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
6:3 「そうすれば、あなたがたは幸福になり、地上でながく生きながらえるであろう」。
6:3 That it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.
6:4 父たる者よ、子供をおこらせないで、主の薫陶と訓戒とによって、彼らを育てなさい。
6:4 And, all of you fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
6:5 僕たる者よ、キリストに従うように、恐れおののきつつ、真心をこめて、肉による主人に従いなさい。
6:5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
6:6 人にへつらおうとして目先だけの勤めをするのではなく、キリストの僕として心から神の御旨を行い、
6:6 Not with eye-service, as men-pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
6:7 人にではなく主に仕えるように、快く仕えなさい。
6:7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
6:8 あなたがたが知っているとおり、だれでも良いことを行えば、僕であれ、自由人であれ、それに相当する報いを、それぞれ主から受けるであろう。
6:8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man does, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
6:9 主人たる者よ。僕たちに対して、同様にしなさい。おどすことを、してはならない。あなたがたが知っているとおり、彼らとあなたがたとの主は天にいますのであり、かつ人をかたより見ることをなさらないのである。
6:9 And, all of you masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
6:10 最後に言う。主にあって、その偉大な力によって、強くなりなさい。
6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
6:11 悪魔の策略に対抗して立ちうるために、神の武具で身を固めなさい。
6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that all of you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
6:12 わたしたちの戦いは、血肉に対するものではなく、もろもろの支配と、権威と、やみの世の主権者、また天上にいる悪の霊に対する戦いである。
6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
6:13 それだから、悪しき日にあって、よく抵抗し、完全に勝ち抜いて、堅く立ちうるために、神の武具を身につけなさい。
6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that all of you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
6:14 すなわち、立って真理の帯を腰にしめ、正義の胸当てを胸につけ、
6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
6:15 平和の福音の備えを足にはき、
6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
6:16 その上に、信仰のたてを手に取りなさい。それをもって、悪しき者の放つ火の矢を消すことができるであろう。
6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith all of you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
6:17 また、救いのかぶとをかぶり、御霊の剣、すなわち、神の言を取りなさい。
6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, (o. pneuma) which is the word (o. rhema) of God:
6:18 絶えず祈と願いをし、どんな時でも御霊によって祈り、そのために目をさましてうむことがなく、すべての聖徒のために祈りつづけなさい。
6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, (o. pneuma) and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
6:19 また、わたしが口を開くときに語るべき言葉を賜り、大胆に福音の奥義を明らかに示しうるように、わたしのためにも祈ってほしい。
6:19 And for me, that utterance (o. logos) may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
6:20 わたしはこの福音のための使節であり、そして鎖につながれているのであるが、つながれていても、語るべき時には大胆に語れるように祈ってほしい。
6:20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
6:21 わたしがどういう様子か、何をしているかを、あなたがたに知ってもらうために、主にあって忠実に仕えている愛する兄弟テキコが、いっさいの事を報告するであろう。
6:21 But that all of you also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:
6:22 彼をあなたがたのもとに送るのは、あなたがたがわたしたちの様子を知り、また彼によって心に励ましを受けるようになるためなのである。
6:22 Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that all of you might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.
6:23 父なる神とわたしたちの主イエス・キリストから平安ならびに信仰に伴う愛が、兄弟たちにあるように。
6:23 Peace be to the brethren, and love (o. agape) with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
6:24 変わらない真実を持って、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストを愛するすべての人々に、恵みがあるように。
6:24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
