39:1 ユダの王ゼデキヤの九年十月、バビロンの王ネブカデレザルはその全軍を率い、エルサレムに来てこれを攻め囲んだが、
39:1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.
39:2 ゼデキヤの十一年四月九日になって町の一角が破れた。
39:2 And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.
39:3 エルサレムが取られたので、バビロンの王のつかさたち、すなわちネルガル・シャレゼル、サムガル・ネボ、ラブサリスのサルセキム、ラブマグのネルガル・シャレゼルおよびバビロンの王のその他のつかさたちは皆ともに来て中の門に座した。
39:3 And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, even Nergalsharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, with all the residue of the princes of the king of Babylon.
39:4 ユダの王ゼデキヤとすべての兵士たちはこれを見て逃げ、夜のうちに、王の庭園の道を通って、二つの城壁の間の門から町を出て、アラバの方へ行ったが、
39:4 And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, by the gate between the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.
39:5 カルデヤびとの軍勢はこれを追って、エリコの平地でゼデキヤに追いつき、これを捕えて、ハマテの地リブラにいるバビロンの王ネブカデレザルのもとに引いて行ったので、王はそこで彼の罪をさだめた。
39:5 But the Chaldeans' army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.
39:6 バビロンの王はリブラで、ゼデキヤの子たちを彼の目の前で殺した。バビロンの王はまたユダのすべての貴族たちを殺した。
39:6 Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.
39:7 王はまたゼデキヤの目をつぶさせ、彼をバビロンに引いて行くために、鎖につないだ。
39:7 Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.
39:8 またカルデヤびとは王宮と民家を火で焼き、エルサレムの城壁を破壊した。
39:8 And the Chaldeans burned the king's house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem.
39:9 そして侍衛の長ネブザラダンは町のうちに残っている民と、自分に降伏した者、およびその他の残っている民をバビロンに捕え移した。
39:9 Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the remnant of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to him, with the rest of the people that remained.
39:10 しかし侍衛の長ネブザラダンは、民の貧しい無産者をユダの地に残し、同時にぶどう畑と田地をこれに与えた。
39:10 But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, which had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.
39:11 さてバビロンの王ネブカデレザルはエレミヤの事について侍衛の長ネブザラダンに命じて言った、
39:11 Now Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, saying,
39:12 「彼をとり、よく世話をせよ。害を加えることなく、彼があなたに言うようにしてやりなさい」。
39:12 Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto you.
39:13 そこで侍衛の長ネブザラダン、ラブサリスのネブシャズバン、ラブマグのネルガル・シャレゼル、およびバビロンの王のつかさたちは、
39:13 So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard sent, and Nebushasban, Rabsaris, and Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, and all the king of Babylon's princes;
39:14 人をつかわして、エレミヤを監視の庭から連れてこさせ、シャパンの子アヒカムの子であるゲダリヤに託して、家につれて行かせた。こうして彼は民のうちにいた。
39:14 Even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.
39:15 エレミヤが監視の庭に閉じこめられていた時、主の言葉が彼に臨んだ、
39:15 Now the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
39:16 「行って、エチオピヤびとエベデメレクに告げなさい、『万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、わたしの言った災をわたしはこの町に下す、幸をこれに下すのではない。その日、この事があなたの目の前で成就する。
39:16 Go and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before you.
39:17 主は言われる、その日わたしはあなたを救う。あなたは自分の恐れている人々の手に渡されることはない。
39:17 But I will deliver you in that day, says the LORD: and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid.
39:18 わたしが必ずあなたを救い、つるぎに倒れることのないようにするからである。あなたの命はあなたのぶんどり物となる。あなたがわたしに寄り頼んだからであると主は言われる』」。
39:18 For I will surely deliver you, and you shall not fall by the sword, but your life shall be for a prey unto you: because you have put your trust in me, says the LORD.
40:1 侍衛の長ネブザラダンは、バビロンに移されるエルサレムとユダの人々のうちにエレミヤを鎖につないでおいて、これを捕えて行ったが、ついにラマで彼を釈放した。その後、主の言葉がエレミヤに臨んだ。
40:1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, after that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away captive unto Babylon.
40:2 侍衛の長はエレミヤを召して彼に言った、「あなたの神、主はこの所にこの災を下すと告げ示された。
40:2 And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, The LORD your God has pronounced this evil upon this place.
40:3 主はこれを下し、自ら言われたとおりに行われた。あなたがたが主に対して罪を犯し、み声に従わなかったから、この事があなたがたの上に臨んだのだ。
40:3 Now the LORD has brought it, and done according as he has said: because all of you have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing has come upon you.
40:4 見よ、わたしはきょう、あなたの手の鎖を解いてあなたを釈放する。もしあなたがわたしと一緒にバビロンへ行くのが良いと思われるなら、おいでなさい。わたしは、じゅうぶんあなたの世話をします。もしあなたがわたしと一緒にバビロンには行きたくないなら、行かなくてもよろしい。見よ、この地はみなあなたの前にあります、あたが良いと思い、正しいと思う所に行きなさい。
40:4 And now, behold, I loose you this day from the chains which were upon yours hand. If it seem good unto you to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto you: but if it seem ill unto you to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before you: where it seems good and convenient for you to go, thither go.
40:5 あなたがとどまるならば、バビロンの王がユダの町々の総督として立てたシャパンの子アヒカムの子であるゲダリヤの所へ帰り、彼と共に民のうちに住みなさい。あるいはまたあなたが正しいと思う所へ行きなさい」。こうして侍衛の長は彼に糧食と贈り物を与えて去らせた。
40:5 Now while he was not yet gone back, he said, Go back also to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go where ever it seems convenient unto you to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a reward, and let him go.
40:6 そこでエレミヤはミヅパへ行き、アヒカムの子ゲダリヤの所へ行って、彼と共にその地に残っている民のうちに住んだ。
40:6 Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.
40:7 さて野外にいた軍勢の長たちと、その配下の人々は、バビロンの王がアヒカムの子ゲダリヤを立てて、その地の総督とし、男、女、子供、および国のうちのバビロンに移されない貧しい者を彼に委託した事を聞いたので、
40:7 Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;
40:8 ネタニヤの子イシマエルと、カレヤの子ヨハナンおよびタンホメテの子セラヤと、ネトパびとであるエパイの子たちと、マアカびとの子ヤザニヤおよびその配下の人々は、ミヅパにいるゲダリヤのもとへ行った。
40:8 Then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
40:9 シャパンの子であるアヒカムの子ゲダリヤは、彼らとその配下の人々に誓って言った、「カルデヤびとに仕えることを恐れるに及ばない。この地に住んでバビロンの王に仕えるならば、あなたがたは幸福になる。
40:9 And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan swore unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
40:10 わたしはミヅパにいて、われわれの所に来るカルデヤびとの前に、あなたがたのために立ちましょう。あなたがたは、ぶどう酒や夏のくだもの、油を集めて、それを器にたくわえ、あなたがたの獲た町々に住みなさい」。
40:10 As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but all of you, gather all of you wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that all of you have taken.
40:11 同じように、モアブとアンモンびとのうち、またエドムおよび他の国々にいるユダヤ人は、バビロンの王がユダに人を残したことと、シャパンの子であるアヒカムの子ゲダリヤを立ててその総督としたこととを聞いた。
40:11 Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the Ammonites, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan;
40:12 そこでそのユダヤ人らはみなその追いやられたもろもろの所から帰ってきて、ユダの地のミヅパにいるゲダリヤのもとにきた。そして多くのぶどう酒と夏のくだものを集めた。
40:12 Even all the Jews returned out of all places where they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, unto Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.
40:13 またカレヤの子ヨハナンと、野外にいた軍勢の長たちはみなミヅパにいるゲダリヤのもとにきて、
40:13 Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,
40:14 彼に言った、「アンモンびとの王バアリスがあなたを殺すためにネタニヤの子イシマエルをつかわしたことを知っていますか」。しかしアヒカムの子ゲダリヤは彼らの言うことを信じなかったので、
40:14 And said unto him, Do you certainly know that Baalis the king of the Ammonites has sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to slay you? But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam believed them not.
40:15 カレヤの子ヨハナンはミヅパでひそかにゲダリヤに言った、「わたしが行って、人に知れないように、ネタニヤの子イシマエルを殺しましょう。どうして彼があなたを殺して、あなたの周囲に集まっているユダヤ人を散らし、ユダの残った者を滅ぼしてよいでしょう」。
40:15 Then Johanan the son of Kareah spoke to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly saying, Let me go, I pray you, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: wherefore should he slay you, that all the Jews which are gathered unto you should be scattered, and the remnant in Judah perish?
40:16 しかしアヒカムの子ゲダリヤはカレヤの子ヨハナンに言った、「この事をしてはならない。あなたはイシマエルについて偽りを言っているのです」。
40:16 But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said unto Johanan the son of Kareah, You shall not do this thing: for you speak falsely of Ishmael.
41:1 七月のころ、王家のもので、エリシャマの子ネタニヤの子であり、また王の高官のひとりであるイシマエルは、王の十人のつかさたちと共にミヅパにいたアヒカムの子ゲダリヤのもとにきて、ミヅパで食を共にしたが、
41:1 Now it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and the princes of the king, even ten men with him, came unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they did eat bread together in Mizpah.
41:2 ネタニヤの子イシマエルおよび共にいた十人の者は立ち上がって、バビロンの王がこの地の総督としたシャパンの子アヒカムの子であるゲダリヤを刀で殺し、
41:2 Then arose Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men that were with him, and stroke Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.
41:3 イシマエルはまたミヅパでゲダリヤと共にいたすべてのユダヤ人と、たまたまそこにいたカルデヤびとの兵士たちを殺した。
41:3 Ishmael also slew all the Jews that were with him, even with Gedaliah, at Mizpah, and the Chaldeans that were found there, and the men of war.
41:4 ゲダリヤが殺された次の日、まだだれもその事を知らないうちに、
41:4 And it came to pass the second day after he had slain Gedaliah, and no man knew it,
41:5 八十人の人々がそのひげをそり、衣服をさき、身に傷をつけ、手には素祭のささげ物と香を携え、シケム、シロ、サマリヤからきて、主の宮にささげようとした。
41:5 That there came certain from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even fourscore men, having their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD.
41:6 ネタニヤの子イシマエルはミヅパから泣きながら出てきて彼らを迎え、彼らに会って、「アヒカムの子ゲダリヤのもとにおいでなさい」と言った。
41:6 And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said unto them, Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.
41:7 そして彼らが町の中にはいったとき、ネタニヤの子イシマエルは自分と一緒にいた人々と共に彼らを殺して、その死体を穴に投げ入れた。
41:7 And it was so, when they came into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah slew them, and cast them into the midst of the pit, he, and the men that were with him.
41:8 しかしそのうちの十人はイシマエルに向かい、「わたしたちは畑に小麦、大麦、油、および蜜を隠しています、わたしたちを殺さないでください」と言ったので、彼らをその仲間と共に殺さないでしまった。
41:8 But ten men were found among them that said unto Ishmael, Slay us not: for we have treasures in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey. So he ceased, and slew them not among their brethren.

41:9 Now the pit wherein Ishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had slain because of Gedaliah, was it which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slain.
41:10 次いでイシマエルはミヅパに残っているすべての民、すなわち王の娘たちと侍衛の長ネブザラダンがアヒカムの子ゲダリヤに託したミヅパに残っているすべての民とを捕虜とした。ネタニヤの子イシマエルは彼らを捕虜とし、アンモンびとのもとに渡り行こうとして立ち去った。
41:10 Then Ishmael carried away captive all the residue of the people that were in Mizpah, even the king's daughters, and all the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah carried them away captive, and departed to go over to the Ammonites.
41:11 カレヤの子ヨハナンおよび彼と共にいる軍勢の長たちはネタニヤの子イシマエルの行った悪事をみな聞き、
41:11 But when Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done,
41:12 その兵士たちを率いて、ネタニヤの子イシマエルと戦うために出て行き、ギベオンの大池のほとりで彼に会った。
41:12 Then they took all the men, and went to fight with Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and found him by the great waters that are in Gibeon.
41:13 イシマエルと共にいる人々は、カレヤの子ヨハナンおよび彼と共にいる軍勢の長たちを見て喜んだ。
41:13 Now it came to pass, that when all the people which were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, then they were glad.
41:14 そしてイシマエルがミヅパから捕虜にしてきた人々は身をめぐらしてカレヤの子ヨハナンのもとへ行った。
41:14 So all the people that Ishmael had carried away captive from Mizpah cast about and returned, and went unto Johanan the son of Kareah.
41:15 ネタニヤの子イシマエルは八人の者と共にヨハナンを避けて逃げ、アンモンびとの所へ行った。
41:15 But Ishmael the son of Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites.
41:16 そこでカレヤの子ヨハナンおよび彼と共にいる軍勢の長たちはネタニヤの子イシマエルがアヒカムの子ゲダリヤを殺して、ミヅパから捕虜として連れてきた、あの残っていた民、すなわち兵士や女、子供、宦官をギベオンから連れ帰ったが、
41:16 Then took Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah, after that he had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, even mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from Gibeon:
41:17 彼らはエジプトへ行こうとしてベツレヘムの近くにあるゲルテ・キムハムへ行って、そこにとどまった。
41:17 And they departed, and dwelt in the habitation of Chimham, which is by Bethlehem, to go to enter into Egypt,
41:18 これは、ネタニヤの子イシマエルが、バビロンの王によってこの地の総督に任じられたアヒカムの子ゲダリヤを殺したことにより、カルデヤびとを恐れたからである。
41:18 Because of the Chaldeans: for they were afraid of them, because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon made governor in the land.
42:1 そのとき軍勢の長たち、およびカレヤの子ヨハナンと、ホシャヤの子アザリヤ、ならびに民の最も小さい者から最も大いなる者にいたるまで、
42:1 Then all the captains of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least even unto the greatest, came near,
42:2 みな預言者エレミヤの所に来て言った、「どうかあなたの前にわれわれの求めが受けいれられますように。われわれのため、この残っている者すべてのために、あなたの神、主に祈ってください、（今ごらんのとおり、われわれは多くのうち、わずかに残っている者です）
42:2 And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we plead to you, our supplication be accepted before you, and pray for us unto the LORD your God, even for all this remnant; (for we are left but a few of many, as yours eyes do behold us:)
42:3 そうすれば、あなたの神、主は、われわれの行くべき道と、なすべき事をお示しになるでしょう」。
42:3 That the LORD your God may show us the way wherein we may walk, and the thing that we may do.
42:4 預言者エレミヤは彼らに言った、「よくわかりました。あなたがたの求めにしたがって、あなたがたの神、主に祈りましょう。主があなたがたに答えられることを、何事も隠さないであなたがたに言いましょう」。
42:4 Then Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray unto the LORD your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatsoever thing the LORD shall answer you, I will declare it unto you; I will keep nothing back from you.
42:5 彼らはエレミヤに言った、「もし、あなたの神、主があなたをつかわしてお告げになるすべての言葉を、われわれが行わないときは、どうか主がわれわれに対してまことの真実な証人となられるように。
42:5 Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not even according to all things for the which the LORD your God shall send you to us.
42:6 われわれは良くても悪くても、われわれがあなたをつかわそうとするわれわれの神、主の声に従います。われわれの神、主の声に従うとき、われわれは幸を得るでしょう」。
42:6 Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God, to whom we send you; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of the LORD our God.
42:7 十日の後、主の言葉がエレミヤに臨んだ。
42:7 And it came to pass after ten days, that the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah.
42:8 エレミヤはカレヤの子ヨハナンおよび彼と共にいる軍勢の長たち、ならびに民の最も小さい者から最も大いなる者までことごとく招いて、
42:8 Then called he Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces which were with him, and all the people from the least even to the greatest,
42:9 彼らに言った、「あなたがたがわたしをつかわして、あなたの祈願をその前にのべさせたイスラエルの神、主はこう言われます、
42:9 And said unto them, Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, unto whom all of you sent me to present your supplication before him;
42:10 もしあなたがたがこの地にとどまるならば、わたしはあなたがたを建てて倒すことなく、あなたがたを植えて抜くことはしない。わたしはあなたがたに災を下したことを悔いているからである。
42:10 If all of you will still abide in this land, then will I build you, and not pull you down, and I will plant you, and not pluck you up: for I repent me of the evil that I have done unto you.
42:11 主は言われる、あなたが恐れているバビロンの王を恐れてはならない。彼を恐れてはならない、わたしが共にいて、あなたがたを救い、彼の手から助け出すからである。
42:11 Be not afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom all of you are afraid; be not afraid of him, says the LORD: for I am with you to save you, and to deliver you from his hand.
42:12 わたしはあなたがたをあわれみ、また彼にあなたがたをあわれませ、あなたがたを自分の地にとどまらせる。
42:12 And I will show mercies unto you, that he may have mercy upon you, and cause you to return to your own land.
42:13 しかし、もしあなたがたが、『われわれはこの地にとどまらない』といって、あなたがたの神、主の声にしたがわず、
42:13 But if all of you say, We will not dwell in this land, neither obey the voice of the LORD your God,
42:14 また、『いいえ、われわれはあの戦争を見ず、ラッパの声を聞かず、食物も乏しくないエジプトの地へ行って、あそこに住まおう』と言うならば、
42:14 Saying, No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger of bread; and there will we dwell:
42:15 あなたがた、ユダの残っている者たちよ、主の言葉を聞きなさい。万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、もしあなたがたがむりにエジプトへ行ってそこに住むならば、
42:15 And now therefore hear the word of the LORD, all of you remnant of Judah; Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; If all of you wholly set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to sojourn there;
42:16 あなたがたの恐れているつるぎはエジプトの地であなたがたに追いつき、あなたがたの恐れているききんは、すぐあとを追ってエジプトまで行き、その所であなたがたは死ぬ。
42:16 Then it shall come to pass, that the sword, which all of you feared, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine, whereof all of you were afraid, shall follow close after you there in Egypt; and there all of you shall die.
42:17 すべてむりにエジプトへ行ってそこに住む者は、つるぎと、ききんと、疫病で死ぬ。わたしが彼らに下そうとしている災をのがれて残る者はそのうちにない。
42:17 So shall it be with all the men that set their faces to go into Egypt to sojourn there; they shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring upon them.
42:18 万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、わたしの怒りと憤りとをエルサレムの住民の上に注いだように、わたしの憤りは、あなたがたがエジプトへ行くとき、あなたがたの上に注ぐ。あなたがたは、のろいとなり、恐怖となり、ののしりとなり、はずかしめとなる。あなたがたは再びこの所を見ることができない。
42:18 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As mine anger and my fury has been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall my fury be poured forth upon you, when all of you shall enter into Egypt: and all of you shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and all of you shall see this place no more.
42:19 ユダの残っている者たちよ、『エジプトへ行ってはならない』と主はあなたがたに言われた。わたしがきょう警告したことを、あなたがたは確かに知らなければならない。
42:19 The LORD has said concerning you, O all of you remnant of Judah; Go all of you not into Egypt: know certainly that I have admonished you this day.
42:20 あなたがたはみずからそむき去って、命を失った。なぜなら、あなたがたがわたしをあなたがたの神、主につかわし、『われわれの神、主に祈り、われわれの神、主の言われることをことごとく示してください。われわれはそれを行います』と言ったので、
42:20 For all of you dissembled in your hearts, when all of you sent me unto the LORD your God, saying, Pray for us unto the LORD our God; and according unto all that the LORD our God shall say, so declare unto us, and we will do it.
42:21 わたしはきょうそれを示したが、あなたがたはあなたがたの神、主の声を聞かず、主がわたしをつかわして命じさせられた事には、すこしも従わなかったからである。
42:21 And now I have this day declared it to you; but all of you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD your God, nor any thing for the which he has sent me unto you.
42:22 それゆえ、あなたがたが行って住まうことを願っているその所で、あなたがたはつるぎと、ききんと、疫病で死ぬことを確かに知らなければならない」。
42:22 Now therefore know certainly that all of you shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place where all of you desire to go and to sojourn.
43:1 エレミヤがすべての民にむかって、彼らの神、主の言葉をことごとく語り、彼らの神、主が自分をつかわして言わせられるその言葉をみな告げ終った時、
43:1 And it came to pass, that when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking unto all the people all the words of the LORD their God, for which the LORD their God had sent him to them, even all these words,
43:2 ホシャヤの子アザリヤと、カレヤの子ヨハナンおよび高慢な人々はみなエレミヤに言った、「あなたは偽りを言っている。われわれの神、主が、『エジプトへ行ってそこに住むな』と言わせるためにあなたをつかわされたのではない。
43:2 Then spoke Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, You speak falsely: the LORD our God has not sent you to say, Go not into Egypt to sojourn there:
43:3 ネリヤの子バルクがあなたをそそのかして、われわれに逆らわせ、われわれをカルデヤびとの手に渡して殺すか、あるいはバビロンに捕え移させるのだ」。
43:3 But Baruch the son of Neriah sets you on against us, in order to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they might put us to death, and carry us away captives into Babylon.
43:4 こうしてカレヤの子ヨハナンと軍勢の長たちおよび民らは皆、主の声にしたがわず、ユダの地にとどまろうとしなかった。
43:4 So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, obeyed not the voice of the LORD, to dwell in the land of Judah.
43:5 そしてカレヤの子ヨハナンと軍勢の長たちは、ユダに残っている者すなわち追いやられた国々からユダの地に住むために帰ってきた者、――
43:5 But Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, that were returned from all nations, where they had been driven, to dwell in the land of Judah;
43:6 男、女、子供、王の娘たち、およびすべて侍衛の長ネブザラダンがシャパンの子であるアヒカムの子ゲダリヤに渡しておいた者、ならびに預言者エレミヤとネリヤの子バルクをつれて、
43:6 Even men, and women, and children, and the king's daughters, and every person that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah.
43:7 エジプトの地へ行った。彼らは主の声にしたがわなかったのである。そして彼らはついにタパネスに行った。
43:7 So they came into the land of Egypt: for they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: thus came they even to Tahpanhes.
43:8 主の言葉はタパネスでエレミヤに臨んだ、
43:8 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,
43:9 「大きな石を手に取り、ユダの人々の目の前で、これをタパネスにあるパロの宮殿の入口の敷石のしっくいの中に隠して、
43:9 Take great stones in yours hand, and hide them in the clay in the brick-kiln, which is at the entry of Pharaoh's house in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah;
43:10 彼らに言いなさい、『万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、見よ、わたしは使者をつかわして、わたしのしもべであるバビロンの王ネブカデレザルを招く。彼はその位をこの隠した石の上にすえ、その上に王の天蓋を張る。
43:10 And say unto them, Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne upon these stones that I have hid; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them.
43:11 彼は来てエジプトの地を撃ち、疫病に定まっている者を疫病に渡し、とりこに定まっている者をとりこにし、つるぎに定まっている者をつるぎにかける。
43:11 And when he comes, he shall strike the land of Egypt, and deliver such as are for death to death; and such as are for captivity to captivity; and such as are for the sword to the sword.
43:12 彼はエジプトの神々の宮に火をつけてこれを焼き、彼らをとりこにする。そして羊を飼う者が着物の虫をはらいきよめるように、エジプトの地をきよめる。彼は安らかにそこを去る。
43:12 And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away captives: and he shall array himself with the land of Egypt, as a shepherd puts on his garment; and he shall go forth from thence in peace.
43:13 彼はエジプトの地にあるヘリオポリスのオベリスクをこわし、エジプトの神々の宮を火で焼く』」。
43:13 He shall break also the images of Bethshemesh, that is in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of the Egyptians shall he burn with fire.
44:1 エジプトの地に住んでいるユダヤ人すなわちミグドル、タパネス、メンピス、パテロスの地に住む者の事についてエレミヤに臨んだ言葉、
44:1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews which dwell in the land of Egypt, which dwell at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying,
44:2 「万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、あなたがたはわたしがエルサレムとユダの町々に下した災を見た。見よ、これらは今日、すでに荒れ地となって住む人もない。
44:2 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; All of you have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwells therein,
44:3 これは彼らが悪を行って、わたしを怒らせたことによるのである。すなわち彼らは自分も、あなたがたも、あなたがたの先祖たちも知らなかった、ほかの神々に行って、香をたき、これに仕えた。
44:3 Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, all of you, nor your fathers.
44:4 わたしは自分のしもべであるすべての預言者たちを、しきりにあなたがたにつかわして、『どうか、わたしの忌みきらうこの憎むべき事をしないように』と言わせたけれども、
44:4 Nevertheless I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.
44:5 彼らは聞かず、耳を傾けず、ほかの神々に香をたいて、その悪を離れなかった。
44:5 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.
44:6 それゆえ、わたしは怒りと憤りをユダの町々とエルサレムのちまたに注ぎ、それを焼いたので、それらは今日のように荒れ、滅びてしまった。
44:6 Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as at this day.
44:7 万軍の神、イスラエルの神、主は今こう言われる、あなたがたはなぜ大いなる悪を行って自分自身を害し、ユダのうちから、あなたがたの男と女と、子供と乳のみ子を断って、ひとりも残らないようにしようとするのか。
44:7 Therefore now thus says the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit all of you this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and nursing infant, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;
44:8 なぜあなたがたはその手のわざをもってわたしを怒らせ、あなたがたが行って住まうエジプトの地で、ほかの神々に香をたいて自分の身を滅ぼし、地の万国のうちに、のろいとなり、はずかしめとなろうとするのか。
44:8 In that all of you provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, where all of you be gone to dwell, that all of you might cut yourselves off, and that all of you might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?
44:9 ユダの地とエルサレムのちまたで行ったあなたがたの先祖たちの悪、ユダの王たちの悪、その妻たちの悪、およびあなたがた自身の悪、あなたがたの妻たちの悪をあなたがたは忘れたのか。
44:9 Have all of you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?
44:10 彼らは今日に至るまで悔いず、また恐れず、あなたがたとあなたがたの先祖たちの前に立てた、わたしの律法とわたしの定めとに従って歩まないのである。
44:10 They are not humbled even unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.
44:11 それゆえ万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、見よ、わたしは顔をあなたがたに向けて災を下し、ユダの人々をことごとく断つ。
44:11 Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.
44:12 またわたしは、エジプトの地に住むために、むりに行ったあのユダの残りの者を取り除く。彼らはみな滅ぼされてエジプトの地に倒れる。彼らは、つるぎとききんに滅ぼされ、最も小さい者から最も大いなる者まで、つるぎとききんによって死ぬ。そして、のろいとなり、恐怖となり、ののしりとなり、はずかしめとなる。
44:12 And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.
44:13 わたしはエルサレムを罰したように、つるぎと、ききんと、疫病をもってエジプトに住んでいる者を罰する。
44:13 For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:
44:14 それゆえ、エジプトの地へ行ってそこに住んでいるユダの残りの者のうち、のがれ、または残って、帰り住まおうと願うユダの地へ帰る者はひとりもない。少数ののがれる者のほかには、帰ってくる者はない」。
44:14 So that none of the remnant of Judah, which are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, that they should return into the land of Judah, to the which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return but such as shall escape.
44:15 その時、自分の妻がほかの神々に香をたいたことを知っている人々、およびその所に立っている女たちの大いなる群衆、ならびにエジプトの地のパテロスに住んでいる民はエレミヤに答えて言った、
44:15 Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,
44:16 「あなたが主の名によってわたしたちに述べられた言葉は、わたしたちは聞くことができません。
44:16 As for the word that you have spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto you.
44:17 わたしたちは誓ったことをみな行い、わたしたちが、もと行っていたように香を天后にたき、また酒をその前に注ぎます。すなわち、ユダの町々とエルサレムのちまたで、わたしたちとわたしたちの先祖たちおよびわたしたちの王たちと、わたしたちのつかさたちが行ったようにいたします。その時には、わたしたちは糧食には飽き、あわせで、災に会いませんでした。
44:17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goes forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.
44:18 ところが、わたしたちが、天后に香をたくことをやめ、酒をその前に注がなくなった時から、すべての物に乏しくなり、つるぎとききんに滅ぼされました」。
44:18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.
44:19 また女たちは言った、「わたしたちが天后に香をたき、酒をその前に注ぐに当って、これにかたどってパンを造り、酒を注いだのは、わたしたちの夫が許したことではありませんか」。
44:19 And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?
44:20 そこでエレミヤは男女のすべての人、およびこの答をしたすべての民に言った、
44:20 Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,
44:21 「ユダの町々とエルサレムのちまたで、あなたがたとあなたがたの先祖たち、およびあなたがたの王たちとあなたがたのつかさたち、およびその地の民が香をたいたことは、主がこれを忘れず、また、心にとどめておられることではないか。
44:21 The incense that all of you burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, all of you, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind?
44:22 主はあなたがたの悪しきわざのため、あなたがたの憎むべき行いのために、もはや忍ぶことができなくなられた。それゆえ、あなたがたの地は今日のごとく荒れ地となり、驚きとなり、のろいとなり、住む人のない地となった。
44:22 So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which all of you have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.
44:23 あなたがたが香をたき、主に罪を犯し、主の声に聞き従わず、その律法と、定めと、あかしに従って歩まなかったので、今日のようにこの災があなたがたに臨んだのである」。
44:23 Because all of you have burned incense, and because all of you have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.
44:24 エレミヤはまたすべての民と女たちに言った、「あなたがたすべてエジプトの地にいるユダの人々よ、主の言葉を聞きなさい。
44:24 Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt:
44:25 万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、あなたがたとあなたがたの妻たちは口で言い、手で行い、『わたしたちは天后に香をたき、酒を注いで立てた誓いを必ずなし遂げる』と言う。それならば、あなたがたの誓いをかため、あなたがたの誓いをなし遂げなさい。
44:25 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; All of you and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: all of you will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.
44:26 それゆえ、あなたがたすべてエジプトの地にいるユダの人々よ、主の言葉を聞きなさい。主は言われる、わたしは自分の大いなる名をさして誓う、すなわちエジプトの全地に、ユダの人々で、その口に、『主なる神は生きておられる』と言って、わたしの名をとなえるものは、もはやひとりもないようになる。
44:26 Therefore hear all of you the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, says the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD lives.
44:27 見よ、わたしは彼らを見守っている、それは幸を与えるためではなく、災を下すためである。エジプトの地にいるユダの人々は、つるぎとききんによって滅び絶える。
44:27 Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.
44:28 しかし、つるぎをのがれるわずかの者はエジプトの地を出てユダの地に帰る。そしてユダの残っている民でエジプトに来て住んだ者は、わたしの言葉が立つか、彼らの言葉が立つか、いずれであるかを知るようになる。
44:28 Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or their's.
44:29 主は言われる、わたしがこの所であなたがたを罰するしるしはこれである。わたしはこのようにしてわたしがあなたがたに災を下そうと言った事の必ず立つことを知らせよう。
44:29 And this shall be a sign unto you, says the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that all of you may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:
44:30 すなわち主はこう言われる、見よ、わたしはユダの王ゼデキヤを、その命を求める敵であるバビロンの王ネブカデレザルの手に渡したように、エジプトの王パロ・ホフラをその敵の手、その命を求める者の手に渡す」。
44:30 Thus says the LORD; Behold, I will give Pharaohhophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.
45:1 ユダの王ヨシヤの子エホヤキムの四年に、ネリヤの子バルクがこれらの言葉をエレミヤの口述にしたがって書にしるした時、預言者エレミヤが彼に語った言葉、
45:1 The word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,
45:2 「バルクよ、イスラエルの神、主はあなたについてこう言われる、
45:2 Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, unto you, O Baruch:
45:3 あなたはかつて、『ああ、わたしはわざわいだ、主がわたしの苦しみに悲しみをお加えになった。わたしは嘆き疲れて、安息が得られない』と言った。
45:3 You did say, Woe is me now! for the LORD has added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.
4 あなたはこう彼に言いなさい、主はこう言われる、見よ、わたしは自分で建てたものをこわし、自分で植えたものを抜いている――それは、この全地である。
45:4 Thus shall you say unto him, The LORD says thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.
45:5 あなたは自分のために大いなる事を求めるのか、これを求めてはならない。見よ、わたしはすべての人に災を下そうとしている。しかしあなたの命はあなたの行くすべての所で、ぶんどり物としてあなたに与えると主は言われる」。
45:5 And seek you great things for yourself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, says the LORD: but your life will I give unto you for a prey in all places where you go.
46:1 もろもろの国の事について預言者エレミヤに臨んだ主の言葉。
46:1 The word of the LORD which came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Gentiles;
46:2 エジプトの事、すなわちユフラテ川のほとりにあるカルケミシの近くにいるエジプトの王パロ・ネコの軍勢の事について。これはユダの王ヨシヤの子エホヤキムの四年に、バビロンの王ネブカデレザルが撃ち破ったものである。その言葉は次のとおりである、
46:2 Against Egypt, against the army of Pharaohnecho king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon stroke in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah.
46:3 「大盾と小盾とを備え、進んで戦え。
46:3 Order all of you the buckler and shield, and draw near to battle.
46:4 騎兵よ、馬を戦車につなぎ、馬に乗れ。かぶとをかぶって立て。ほこをみがき、よろいを着よ。
46:4 Harness the horses; and get up, all of you horsemen, and stand forth with your helmets; polish the spears, and put on the protective armor.
46:5 わたしは見たが、何ゆえか彼らは恐れて退き、その勇士たちは打ち敗られ、あわてて逃げて、うしろをふり向くこともしない、――恐れが彼らの周囲にあると主は言われる。
46:5 Wherefore have I seen them dismayed and turned away back? and their mighty ones are beaten down, and are fled swiftly, and look not back: for fear was round about, says the LORD.
46:6 足早き者も逃げることができず、勇士ものがれることができない。北の方、ユフラテ川のほとりで／彼らはつまずき倒れた。
46:6 Let not the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape; they shall stumble, and fall toward the north by the river Euphrates.
46:7 あのナイル川のようにわきあがり、川々のように、その水のさかまく者はだれか。
46:7 Who is this that comes up as a flood, whose waters are moved as the rivers?
46:8 エジプトはナイル川のようにわきあがり、その水は川々のようにさかまく。そしてこれは言う、わたしは上って、地をおおい、町々とそのうちに住む者を滅ぼそう。
46:8 Egypt rises up like a flood, and his waters are moved like the rivers; and he says, I will go up, and will cover the earth; I will destroy the city and the inhabitants thereof.
46:9 馬よ、進め、車よ、激しく走れ。勇士よ、盾を取るエチオピヤびとと、プテびとよ、弓を巧みに引くルデびとよ、進み出よ。
46:9 Come up, all of you horses; and rage, all of you chariots; and let the mighty men come forth; the Ethiopians and the Libyans, that handle the shield; and the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow.
46:10 その日は万軍の神、主の日であって、主があだを報いられる日、その敵にあだをかえされる日だ。つるぎは食べて飽き、彼らの血に酔う。万軍の神、主が、北の地で、ユフラテ川のほとりで、ほふることをなされるからだ。
46:10 For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.
46:11 おとめなるエジプトの娘よ、ギレアデに上って乳香を取れ。あなたは多くの薬を用いても、むだだ。あなたは、いやされることはない。
46:11 Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt: in vain shall you use many medicines; for you shall not be cured.
46:12 あなたの恥は国々に聞えている、あなたの叫びは地に満ちている。勇士が勇士につまずいて、共に倒れたからである」。
46:12 The nations have heard of your shame, and your cry has filled the land: for the mighty man has stumbled against the mighty, and they are fallen both together.
46:13 バビロンの王ネブカデレザルが来て、エジプトの地を撃とうとする事について、主が預言者エレミヤにお告げになった言葉、
46:13 The word that the LORD spoke to Jeremiah the prophet, how Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon should come and strike the land of Egypt.
46:14 「エジプトで宣べ、ミグドルで告げ示し、またメンピスとタパネスに告げ示して言え、『堅く立って、備えせよ、つるぎがあなたの周囲を、滅ぼし尽すからだ』。
46:14 Declare all of you in Egypt, and publish in Migdol, and publish in Noph and in Tahpanhes: say all of you, Stand fast, and prepare you; for the sword shall devour round about you.
46:15 なぜ、アピスはのがれたのか。あなたの雄牛は、なぜ立たなかったのか。それは主がこれを倒されたからだ。
46:15 Why are your valiant men swept away? they stood not, because the LORD did drive them.
46:16 あなたに属する多くの兵は、つまずいて倒れた。そして互に言った、『立てよ、われわれは、しえたげる者のつるぎを避けて、われわれの民に帰り、故郷の地へ行こう』と。
46:16 He made many to fall, yea, one fell upon another: and they said, Arise, and let us go again to our own people, and to the land of our nativity, from the oppressing sword.
46:17 エジプトの王パロの名を、『好機を逸する騒がしい者』と呼べ。
46:17 They did cry there, Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a noise; he has passed the time appointed.

46:18 As I live, says the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts, Surely as Tabor is among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he comes.

46:19 O you daughter dwelling in Egypt, furnish yourself to go into captivity: for Noph shall be waste and desolate without an inhabitant.

46:20 Egypt is like a very fair heifer, but destruction comes; it comes out of the north.

46:21 Also her hired men are in the midst of her like fatted bullocks; for they also are turned back, and are fled away together: they did not stand, because the day of their calamity was come upon them, and the time of their visitation.

46:22 The voice thereof shall go like a serpent; for they shall march with an army, and come against her with axes, as hewers of wood.

46:23 They shall cut down her forest, says the LORD, though it cannot be searched; because they are more than the grasshoppers, and are innumerable.

46:24 The daughter of Egypt shall be confounded; she shall be delivered into the hand of the people of the north.

46:25 The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, says; Behold, I will punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings; even Pharaoh, and all them that trust in him:
46:26 わたしは彼らを、その命を求める者の手と、バビロンの王ネブカデレザルの手と、その家来たちの手に渡す。その後、エジプトは昔のように人の住む所となると、主は言われる。
46:26 And I will deliver them into the hand of those that seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants: and afterward it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, says the LORD.
46:27 わたしのしもべヤコブよ、恐れることはない、イスラエルよ、驚くことはない。見よ、わたしがあなたを遠くから救い、あなたの子孫をその捕え移された地から／救うからだ。ヤコブは帰ってきて、おだやかに、安らかになり、彼を恐れさせる者はない。
46:27 But fear not you, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save you from far off, and your seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.
46:28 主は言われる、わたしのしもべヤコブよ、恐れることはない、わたしが共にいるからだ。わたしはあなたを追いやった国々を／ことごとく滅ぼし尽す。しかしあなたを滅ぼし尽すことはしない。わたしは正しい道に従って、あなたを懲らしめる、決して罰しないではおかない」。
46:28 Fear you not, O Jacob my servant, says the LORD: for I am with you; for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you: but I will not make a full end of you, but correct you in measure; yet will I not leave you wholly unpunished.
47:1 パロがまだガザを撃たなかったころ、ペリシテびとの事について預言者エレミヤに臨んだ主の言葉。
47:1 The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Philistines, before that Pharaoh stroke Gaza.
47:2 「主はこう言われる、見よ、水は北から起り、あふれ流れて、この地と、そこにあるすべての物、その町と、その中に住む者とにあふれかかる。その時、人々は叫び、この地に住む者はみな嘆く。
47:2 Thus says the LORD; Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall be an overflowing flood, and shall overflow the land, and all that is therein; the city, and them that dwell therein: then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall wail.
47:3 そのたくましい馬のひずめの踏み鳴らす音のため、その戦車の響きのため、その車輪のとどろきのために、父はその手が弱くなって、自分の子をも顧みない。
47:3 At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong horses, at the rushing of his chariots, and at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers shall not look back to their children for feebleness of hands;
47:4 これは、ペリシテびとを滅ぼし尽し、ツロとシドンに残って助けをなす者を／ことごとく絶やす日が来るからである。主はカフトルの海岸に残っている／ペリシテびとを滅ぼされる。
47:4 Because of the day that comes to spoil all the Philistines, and to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon every helper that remains: for the LORD will spoil the Philistines, the remnant of the country of Caphtor.
47:5 ガザには髪をそることが始まっている。アシケロンは滅びた。アナクびとの残りの民よ、いつまで自分の身に傷つけるのか。
47:5 Baldness has come upon Gaza; Ashkelon is cut off with the remnant of their valley: how long will you cut yourself?
47:6 主のつるぎよ、おまえはいつになれば静かになるのか。おまえのさやに帰り、休んで静かにしておれ。
47:6 O you sword of the LORD, how long will it be before you be quiet? put up yourself into your scabbard, rest, and be still.
47:7 主がこれに命を下されたのだ、どうして静かにしておれようか。アシケロンと海岸の地を攻めることを／定められたのだ」。
47:7 How can it be quiet, seeing the LORD has given it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea shore? there has he appointed it.
48:1 モアブの事について、万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、「ああ、ネボはわざわいだ、これは滅ぼされた。キリヤタイムははずかしめられて取られ、とりでは、はずかしめられてこわされた。
48:1 Against Moab thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Woe unto Nebo! for it is spoiled: Kiriathaim is confounded and taken: Misgab is confounded and dismayed.
48:2 モアブの誉は、消え去った。ヘシボンで人々はモアブの害を図り、『さあ、この国を断ち滅ぼそう』という。マデメンよ、おまえもまた滅ぼされる、つるぎがおまえを追う。
48:2 There shall be no more praise of Moab: in Heshbon they have devised evil against it; come, and let us cut it off from being a nation. Also you shall be cut down, O Madmen; the sword shall pursue you.
48:3 ホロナイムから叫び声が聞える、『荒廃と大いなる滅亡だ』という。
48:3 A voice of crying shall be from Horonaim, spoiling and great destruction.
48:4 モアブは滅ぼされ、叫びはゾアルにまで聞える。
48:4 Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.
48:5 彼らは泣きながらルヒテの坂を登る。彼らはホロナイムの下り坂で、『滅亡』の叫びを聞いたからだ。
48:5 For in the going up of Luhith continual weeping shall go up; for in the going down of Horonaim the enemies have heard a cry of destruction.
48:6 逃げて、自分の身を救え、荒野の野ろばのようになれ。
48:6 Flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness.
48:7 おまえが、とりでと財宝とを頼みにしたので、おまえも捕えられるからだ。またケモシは、その祭司とつかさたちと共に、捕えられて行く。
48:7 For because you have trusted in your works and in your treasures, you shall also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together.
48:8 滅ぼす者はすべての町に来る、一つの町ものがれることができない。谷は滅び、平地は荒される、主の言われたとおりである。
48:8 And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD has spoken.
48:9 モアブに翼を与えて、飛び去らせよ。その町々は荒れて、住む者はなくなる。
48:9 Give wings unto Moab, that it may flee and get away: for the cities thereof shall be desolate, without any to dwell therein.
48:10 主のわざを行うことを怠る者はのろわれる。またそのつるぎを押えて血を流さない者はのろわれる。
48:10 Cursed be he that does the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keeps back his sword from blood.
48:11 モアブはその幼い時から安らかで、酒が、沈んだおりの上にとどまって、器から器に、くみ移されなかったように、捕え移されなかったので、その味はなお存し、その香気も変ることがない。
48:11 Moab has been at ease from his youth, and he has settled on his sediments of wine, and has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither has he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.
48:12 主は言われる、それゆえ見よ、わたしがこれを傾ける者どもをつかわす日が来る。彼らはこれを傾け、その器をあけ、そのかめを砕く。
48:12 Therefore, behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will send unto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles.
48:13 その時モアブはケモシのために恥をかく。ちょうどイスラエルの家がその頼みとしたベテルのために恥をかいたようになる。
48:13 And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel their confidence.
48:14 あなたがたはどうして／『われわれは勇士だ。強い戦士だ』というのか。
48:14 How say all of you, We are mighty and strong men for the war?
48:15 モアブとその町々を滅ぼす者は上って来、モアブのえり抜きの若者たちは下って殺されたと／万軍の主と名のる王が言われる。
48:15 Moab is spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, says the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.
48:16 モアブの災難は近づいている、その苦難はすみやかに来る。
48:16 The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hastes fast.
48:17 すべてその周囲にある者よ、またその名を知る者よ、彼のために嘆いて、『ああ、強き笏、麗しきつえは、ついに折れた』と言え。
48:17 All you that are about him, lament for him; and all you that know his name, say, How is the strong staff broken, and the beautiful rod!
48:18 デボンに住む者よ、あなたの栄えを離れて下り、かわいた地に座せよ。モアブを滅ぼす者があなたに攻めのぼって来て、あなたの城を滅ぼしたからだ。
48:18 You daughter that do inhabit Dibon, come down from your glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab shall come upon you, and he shall destroy your strong holds.
48:19 アロエルに住む者よ、道のかたわらに立って見張りし、逃げてくる男、のがれてくる女に尋ねて、『何が起ったのか』と言え。
48:19 O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and monitor; ask him that flees, and her that escapes, and say, What is done?
48:20 モアブは敗れて、恥をこうむっている。嘆き呼ばわれ。アルノン川のほとりで、モアブは滅ぼされたと告げよ。
48:20 Moab is confounded; for it is broken down: wail and cry; tell all of you it in Arnon, that Moab is spoiled,
48:21 さばきは高原の地に臨み、ホロン、ヤハズ、メパアテ、
48:21 And judgment has come upon the plain country; upon Holon, and upon Jahazah, and upon Mephaath,
48:22 デボン、ネボ、ベテ・デブラタイム、
48:22 And upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Bethdiblathaim,
48:23 キリヤタイム、ベテ・ガムル、ベテ・メオン、
48:23 And upon Kiriathaim, and upon Bethgamul, and upon Bethmeon,
48:24 ケリオテ、ボズラなどモアブの地のすべての町の、遠いものにも近いものにも、臨んだ。
48:24 And upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.
48:25 モアブの角は砕け、その腕は折れたと主は言われる。
48:25 The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, says the LORD.
48:26 モアブを酔わせよ、彼が主に敵して自ら高ぶったからである。モアブは自分の吐いた物の中にころがって、笑い草となる。
48:26 Make all of you him drunken: for he magnified himself against the LORD: Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.
48:27 イスラエルはあなたの笑い草ではなかったか。あなたが、彼のことを語るごとに首を振ったのは、彼が盗賊の中にいたとでもいうのか。
48:27 For was not Israel a derision unto you? was he found among thieves? for since you spoke of him, you skipped for joy.

48:28 O all of you that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that makes her nest in the sides of the hole's mouth.
48:29 われわれはモアブの高慢な事を聞いた、その高慢は、はなはだしい。すなわち、その尊大、高慢、横柄、およびその心の高ぶりのことを聞いた。
48:29 We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart.
48:30 主は言われる、わたしは彼の横着なのを知る、彼の自慢は偽りで、その行いも偽りである。
48:30 I know his wrath, says the LORD; but it shall not be so; his lies shall not so effect it.
48:31 それゆえ、わたしはモアブのために嘆き、モアブの全地のために呼ばわる。キルヘレスの人々のためにわたしは悲しむ。
48:31 Therefore will I wail for Moab, and I will cry out for all Moab; mine heart shall mourn for the men of Kirheres.
48:32 シブマのぶどうの木よ、わたしはヤゼルのために泣くのにまさって／おまえのために泣く。おまえのつるは延びて海を越え、ヤゼルに及んだ。おまえの夏の実と、その収穫を滅ぼす者が／襲ってきた。
48:32 O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for you with the weeping of Jazer: your plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon your summer fruits and upon your vintage.
48:33 喜びと楽しみは、実り多いモアブの地を去った。わたしは、ぶどうをしぼる所にも酒をなくした。楽しく呼ばわって、ぶどうを踏む者もなくなった。呼ばわっても、喜んで呼ばわる声ではない。
48:33 And joy and gladness is taken from the plentiful field, and from the land of Moab, and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses: none shall tread with shouting; their shouting shall be no shouting.
48:34 ヘシボンとエレアレは叫ぶ。ヤハヅに至るまで、ゾアルからホロナイムとエグラテ・シリシヤに至るまで、彼らはその声をあげる。ニムリムの水も絶えたからである。
48:34 From the cry of Heshbon even unto Elealeh, and even unto Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even unto Horonaim, as an heifer of three years old: for the waters also of Nimrim shall be desolate.
48:35 主は言われる、わたしは犠牲を高き所にささげ、香をその神にたく者をモアブのうちに滅ぼす。
48:35 Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, says the LORD, him that offers in the high places, and him that burns incense to his gods.
48:36 それゆえ、わたしの心はモアブのために笛のように嘆き、わたしの心はキルヘレスの人々のために笛のように嘆く。彼らの獲た富が消えうせたからである。
48:36 Therefore mine heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and mine heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kirheres: because the riches that he has got are perished.
48:37 人はみな髪をそり、皆ひげをそり、みな手に傷をつけ、腰に荒布を着ける。
48:37 For every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.
48:38 モアブではどこの屋根の上も、広場も、ただ悲しみに包まれている。これは、わたしが、だれもほしがらない器のようにモアブを砕いたからであると主は言われる。
48:38 There shall be lamentation generally upon all the housetops of Moab, and in the streets thereof: for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, says the LORD.
48:39 ああ、モアブはついに滅びた。人々は嘆く。ああ、モアブは恥じて顔をそむけた。モアブはその周囲のすべての者の笑い草となり恐れとなった」。
48:39 They shall wail, saying, How is it broken down! how has Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab be a derision and a dismaying to all them about him.
48:40 主はこう言われる、「見よ、敵はわしのように速く飛んできて、モアブに向かって翼をのべる。
48:40 For thus says the LORD; Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab.
48:41 町々は取られ、城は奪われる。その日モアブの勇士の心は／子を産む女の心のようになる。
48:41 Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men's hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
48:42 モアブは滅ぼされて、国を成さないようになる。主に敵して自ら誇ったからである。
48:42 And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he has magnified himself against the LORD.
48:43 主は言われる、モアブに住む者よ、恐れと、穴と、わなとがあなたに臨んでいる。
48:43 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, shall be upon you, O inhabitant of Moab, says the LORD.
48:44 恐れをさけて逃げる者は穴におちいり、穴をよじ上って出る者は、わなに捕えられる。わたしがモアブに、その罰せられる年に、これらのものを臨ませるからであると／主は言われる。
48:44 He that flees from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that gets up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, says the LORD.
48:45 逃げた者はヘシボンの陰に、力なく立ちどまる。ヘシボンから火が出、シホンの家から炎が出て、モアブの額、騒ぐ人々の頭の頂を焼いたからだ。
48:45 They that fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon because of the force: but a fire shall come forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.
48:46 モアブよ、おまえはわざわいだ。ケモシの民は滅びた。おまえのむすこらは捕え移され、おまえの娘らも捕え行かれたからである。
48:46 Woe be unto you, O Moab! the people of Chemosh perishes: for your sons are taken captives, and your daughters captives.
48:47 しかし末の日にわたしは再びモアブを栄えさせると／主は言われる」。ここまではモアブのさばきの事をいったのである。
48:47 Yet will I bring again the captivity of Moab in the latter days, says the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.
49:1 アンモンびとについて、主はこう言われる、「イスラエルには子がないのか、世継ぎがないのか。どうしてミルコムがガドを追い出して、その民がその町々に住んでいるのか。
49:1 Concerning the Ammonites, thus says the LORD; Has Israel no sons? has he no heir? why then does their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities?
49:2 主は言われる、それゆえ、見よ、アンモンびとのラバを攻める／戦いの叫びを、わたしが聞えさせる日が来る。ラバは荒塚となり、その村々は火で焼かれる。そのときイスラエルは自分を追い出した者どもを追い出すと／主は言われる。
49:2 Therefore, behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel be heir unto them that were his heirs, says the LORD.
49:3 ヘシボンよ嘆け、アイは滅ぼされた。ラバの娘たちよ呼ばわれ。荒布を身にまとい、悲しんで、まがきのうちを走りまわれ。ミルコムとその祭司およびつかさが／共に捕え移されるからだ。
49:3 Wail, O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled: cry, all of you daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth; lament, and run back and forth by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together.
49:4 不信の娘よ、あなたはなぜ自分の谷の事を誇るのか。あなたは自分の富に寄り頼んで、『だれがわたしに攻めてくるものか』と言う。
49:4 Wherefore glory you in the valleys, your flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me?
49:5 主なる万軍の神は言われる、見よ、わたしはあなたの上に恐れを臨ませる、それはあなたの周囲の者から来る。あなたは追われて、おのおの直ちに他人に続き、逃げる者を集める人もない。
49:5 Behold, I will bring a fear upon you, says the Lord GOD of hosts, from all those that be about you; and all of you shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wanders.
49:6 しかし、のちになって、わたしはアンモンびとを再び栄えさせると、主は言われる」。
49:6 And afterward I will bring again the captivity of the children of Ammon, says the LORD.
49:7 エドムの事について、万軍の主はこう言われる、「テマンには、もはや知恵がないのか。さとい者には計りごとがなくなったのか。その知恵は消えうせたのか。
49:7 Concerning Edom, thus says the LORD of hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?
49:8 デダンに住む者よ、逃げよ、のがれよ、深い所に隠れよ。わたしがエサウの災難を彼の上に臨ませ、彼を罰する時をこさせるからだ。
49:8 Flee all of you, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I will visit him.
49:9 ぶどうを集める者があなたの所に来たならば、すこしの実をも残さないであろうか。夜、盗びとが来たならば、自分たちの満足するだけ滅ぼさないであろうか。
49:9 If grape-gatherers come to you, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, they will destroy till they have enough.
49:10 しかしわたしはエサウを裸にし、その隠れる所を現したので、彼はその身を隠すことができない。その子どもたちも、兄弟も、隣り人も滅ぼされる。そして彼は、いなくなる。
49:10 But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is spoiled, and his brethren, and his neighbours, and he is not.
49:11 あなたのみなしごを残せ、わたしがそれを生きながらえさせる。あなたのやもめには、わたしに寄り頼ませよ」。
49:11 Leave your fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let your widows trust in me.
49:12 主はこう言われる、「もし、杯を飲むべきでない者もそれを飲まなければならなかったとすれば、あなたは罰を免れることができようか。あなたは罰を免れない。それを飲まなければならない。
49:12 For thus says the LORD; Behold, they whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunken; and are you he that shall altogether go unpunished? you shall not go unpunished, but you shall surely drink of it.
49:13 主は言われる、わたしは自分をさして誓った、ボズラは驚きとなり、ののしりとなり、荒れ地となり、のろいとなる。その町々は長く荒れ地となる」。
49:13 For I have sworn by myself, says the LORD, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes.
49:14 わたしは主からのおとずれを聞いた。ひとりの使者がつかわされて万国に行き、そして言った、「あなたがたは集まり、行って彼を攻め、立って戦え。
49:14 I have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent unto the heathen, saying, Gather all of you together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.
49:15 見よ、わたしはあなたを万国のうちに小さい者とし、人々のうちに卑しめられる者とする。
49:15 For, lo, I will make you small among the heathen, and despised among men.
49:16 岩の割れ目に住み、山の高みを占める者よ、あなたの恐ろしい事と、あなたの心の高ぶりが、あなたを欺いた。あなたは、わたしのように巣を高い所に作っているが、わたしはその所からあなたを取りおろすと／主は言われる。
49:16 Your terribleness has deceived you, and the pride of yours heart, O you that dwell in the clefts of the rock, that hold the height of the hill: though you should make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from thence, says the LORD.
49:17 エドムは恐れとなる。そのかたわらを通り過ぎる者はみな恐れ、その災のために、舌打ちする。
49:17 Also Edom shall be a desolation: every one that goes by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof.
49:18 主は言われる、ソドムとゴモラとその隣の町々がくつがえされた時のように、そこに住む人はなく、そこに宿る人もなくなる。
49:18 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, says the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it.
49:19 見よ、ししがヨルダンの密林から上ってきて、じょうぶな羊のおりを襲うように、わたしは、たちまち彼らをそこから逃げ走らせ、わたしの選ぶ者をその上に立てる。だれかわたしのような者があるであろうか。だれがわたしを呼びつけることができようか。どの牧者がわたしの前に立つことができようか。
49:19 Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?
49:20 それゆえ、エドムに対して主が立てた計りごとと、テマンに住む者に対してしようとする事を聞くがよい。彼らの群れのうちの小さいものまでも皆、引かれて行く。彼らのおりのものもその終りを見て恐れる。
49:20 Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he has taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them.
49:21 その倒れる音を聞いて、地は震い、彼らの叫び声は紅海にも聞える。
49:21 The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red sea.
49:22 見よ、敵はわしのように上り、すみやかに飛びかけり、その翼をボズラの上に張り広げる。その日エドムの勇士の心は子を産む女の心のようになる」。
49:22 Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
49:23 ダマスコの事について、「ハマテとアルパデは、うろたえている、彼らは悪いおとずれを聞いたからだ。彼らは勇気を失い、穏やかになることのできない海のように悩む。
49:23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.
49:24 ダマスコは弱り、身をめぐらして逃げた、恐怖に襲われている。子を産む女に臨むように痛みと悲しみと彼に臨む。
49:24 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turns herself to flee, and fear has seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.
49:25 ああ、名ある町、楽しい町は捨てられる。
49:25 How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!
49:26 それゆえ、その日に、若い者は、広場に倒れ、兵士はことごとく滅ぼされると／万軍の主は言われる。
49:26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, says the LORD of hosts.
49:27 わたしはダマスコの城壁の上に火を燃やし、ベネハダデの宮殿を焼き尽す」。
49:27 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.
49:28 バビロンの王ネブカデレザルが攻め撃ったケダルとハゾルの諸国の事について、主はこう言われる、「立って、ケダルに向かって進み、東の人々を滅ぼせ。
49:28 Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon shall strike, thus says the LORD; Arise all of you, go up to Kedar, and spoil the men of the east.
49:29 彼らの天幕と、その羊の群れとは取られ、その垂幕とそのもろもろの器と、らくだとは彼らの所から運び去られ、人々は彼らに向かって叫ぶ、『恐ろしいことが四方にある』と。
49:29 Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: they shall take to themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry unto them, Fear is on every side.
49:30 主は言われる、ハゾルに住む者よ、逃げよ、遠くさまよい行き、深い所に隠れよ。バビロンの王ネブカデレザルが／あなたがたを攻める計りごとをめぐらし、あなたがたを攻める、てだてを設けたからだ。
49:30 Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O all of you inhabitants of Hazor, says the LORD; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon has taken counsel against you, and has conceived a purpose against you.
49:31 主は言われる、立って進み、安全な所に住むきらくな民を攻めよ、彼らは門もなく、貫の木もなく、ひとり離れて住む。
49:31 Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation, that dwells without care, says the LORD, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone.
49:32 彼らのらくだは、ぶんどり物となり、家畜の群れは奪われる。わたしは、かの髪の毛のすみずみを切る者を／四方に散らし、その災難を八方からこさせると主は言われる。
49:32 And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter into all winds them that are in the utmost corners; and I will bring their calamity from all sides thereof, says the LORD.
49:33 ハゾルは山犬のすまいとなり、いつまでも荒れ地となっている。だれもそこに住む人はなく、そこに宿る人もない」。
49:33 And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and a desolation for ever: there shall no man abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it.
49:34 ユダの王ゼデキヤの治世の初めのころに、エラムの事について預言者エレミヤに臨んだ主の言葉。
49:34 The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,
49:35 万軍の主はこう言われる、「見よ、わたしはエラムが力として頼んでいる弓を折る。
49:35 Thus says the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.
49:36 わたしは天の四方から、四方の風をエラムにこさせ、彼らを四方の風に散らす。エラムから追い出される者の行かない国はない。
49:36 And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation where the outcasts of Elam shall not come.
49:37 主は言われる、わたしはエラムをしてその敵の前、またその命を求める者の前に恐れさせる。わたしは災をくだし、激しい怒りをその上にくだす。彼らのうしろに、つるぎを送って滅ぼし尽す。
49:37 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, says the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them:
49:38 そしてわたしの位をエラムにすえ、王とつかさたちとを滅ぼすと主は言われる。
49:38 And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, says the LORD.
49:39 しかし末の日に、わたしはエラムを再び栄えさせると、主は言われる」。
49:39 But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, says the LORD.
50:1 主が預言者エレミヤによって語られたバビロンとカルデヤびとの地の事についての言葉。
50:1 The word that the LORD spoke against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.
50:2 「国々のうちに告げ、また触れ示せよ、旗を立てて、隠すことなく触れ示して言え、『バビロンは取られ、ベルははずかしめられ、メロダクは砕かれ、その像ははずかしめられ、その偶像は砕かれる』と。
50:2 Declare all of you among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.
50:3 それは、北の方から一つの国民がきて、これを攻め、その地を荒して、住む人もないようにするからである。人も獣もみな逃げ去ってしまう。
50:3 For out of the north there comes up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast.
50:4 主は言われる、その日その時、イスラエルの民とユダの民は共に帰ってくる。彼らは嘆きながら帰ってくる。そしてその神、主を求める。
50:4 In those days, and in that time, says the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God.
50:5 彼らは顔をシオンに向けて、その道を問い、『さあ、われわれは、永遠に忘れられることのない契約を結んで主に連なろう』と言う。
50:5 They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces in that direction, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.
50:6 わたしの民は迷える羊の群れである、その牧者がこれをいざなって、山に踏み迷わせたので、山から丘へと行きめぐり、その休む所を忘れた。
50:6 My people has been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their resting place.
50:7 これに会う者はみなこれを食べた。その敵は言った、『われわれに罪はない。彼らがそのまことのすみかである主、先祖たちの希望であった主に対して罪を犯したのだ』と。
50:7 All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.
50:8 バビロンのうちから逃げよ。カルデヤびとの地から出よ。群れの前に行く雄やぎのようにせよ。
50:8 Remove out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats before the flocks.
50:9 見よ、わたしは大きい国々を起し集めて、北の地からバビロンに攻めこさせる。彼らはこれに向かって勢ぞろいをし、これをその所から取る。彼らの矢はむなしく帰らない老練な勇士のようである。
50:9 For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain.
50:10 カルデヤは人にかすめられる。これをかすめる者はみな飽くことができると、主は言われる。
50:10 And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, says the LORD.
50:11 わたしの嗣業をかすめる者どもよ、あなたがたは喜び楽しみ、雌の子牛のように草に戯れ、雄馬のように、いなないているが、
50:11 Because all of you were glad, because all of you rejoiced, O all of you destroyers of mine heritage, because all of you are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls;
50:12 あなたがたの母はいたくはずかしめられ、あなたがたを産んだ者は恥をこうむる。見よ、彼女は国々のうちの最もあとなるものとなり、かわいた砂原の荒野となる。
50:12 Your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed: behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.
50:13 主の怒りによって、ここに住む者はなく、完全に荒れ地となる。バビロンのかたわらを通る者は、みなその傷を見て驚き、かつあざ笑う。
50:13 Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one that goes by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.
50:14 あなたがたすべて弓を張る者よ、バビロンの周囲に勢ぞろいして、これを攻め、矢を惜しまずに、これを射よ、彼女が主に罪を犯したからだ。
50:14 Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about: all you that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she has sinned against the LORD.
50:15 その周囲に叫び声をあげよ、彼女は降伏した。そのとりでは倒れ、その城壁はくずれた、主があだをかえされたからだ。彼女に報復せよ、彼女がおこなったように、これに行え。
50:15 Shout against her round about: she has given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she has done, do unto her.
50:16 種まく者と、刈入れどきに、かまを取る者を／バビロンに絶やせ。滅ぼす者のつるぎを恐れて、人はおのおの自分の民の所に帰り、そのふるさとに逃げて行く。
50:16 Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handles the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land.
50:17 イスラエルは、ししに追われて散った羊である。初めにアッスリヤの王がこれを食い、そして今はついにバビロンの王ネブカデレザルがその骨をかじった。
50:17 Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria has devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon has broken his bones.
50:18 それゆえ万軍の主、イスラエルの神は、こう言われる、見よ、わたしはアッスリヤの王を罰したように、バビロンの王とその国に罰を下す。
50:18 Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.
50:19 わたしはイスラエルを再びその牧場に帰らせる。彼はカルメルとバシャンで草を食べる。またエフライムの山とギレアデでその望みが満たされる。
50:19 And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead.
50:20 主は言われる、その日その時には、イスラエルのとがを探しても見当らず、ユダの罪を探してもない。それはわたしが残しておく人々を、ゆるすからである。
50:20 In those days, and in that time, says the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.
50:21 主は言われる、上って行って、メラタイムの地を攻め、ペコデの民を攻め、彼らを殺して全く滅ぼし、わたしがあなたがたに命じたことを皆、行いなさい。
50:21 Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, says the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded you.
50:22 その地に、いくさの叫びと、大いなる滅びがある。
50:22 A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.
50:23 ああ、全地を砕いた鎚はついに折れ砕ける。ああ、バビロンはついに国々のうちの／恐るべき見ものとなる。
50:23 How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!
50:24 バビロンよ、わたしは、おまえを捕えるためにわなをかけたが、おまえはそれにかかった。そしておまえはそれを知らなかった。おまえは主に敵したので、尋ね出され、捕えられた。
50:24 I have laid a snare for you, and you are also taken, O Babylon, and you were not aware: you are found, and also caught, because you have striven against the LORD.
50:25 主は武器の倉を開いて／その怒りの武器を取り出された。主なる万軍の神が、カルデヤびとの地に事を行われるからである。
50:25 The LORD has opened his armoury, and has brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans.
50:26 あらゆる方面からきて、これを攻め、その穀倉を開き、これを穀物の山のように積み上げ、完全に滅ぼし尽し、そこに残る者のないようにせよ。
50:26 Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.
50:27 その雄牛をことごとく殺せ、それを、ほふり場に下らせよ。それらのものはわざわいだ、その日、その罰を受ける時がきたからだ。
50:27 Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter: woe unto them! for their day has come, the time of their visitation.
50:28 聞けよ、バビロンの地から逃げ、のがれてきた者の声がする。われわれの神、主の報復、その宮の報復の事をシオンに告げ示す。
50:28 The voice of them that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple.
50:29 弓を張る射手をことごとく呼び集めて、バビロンを攻めよ。その周囲に陣を敷け。ひとりも逃がすな。そのしわざにしたがってバビロンに報い、これがおこなった所にしたがってこれに行え。彼がイスラエルの聖者である主に向かって高慢にふるまったからだ。
50:29 Call together the archers against Babylon: all you that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she has done, do unto her: for she has been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.
50:30 それゆえ、その日、若い者は、広場に倒れ、兵士はみな絶やされると主は言われる。
50:30 Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, says the LORD.
50:31 主なる万軍の神は言われる、高ぶる者よ、見よ、わたしはおまえの敵となる、あなたの日、わたしがおまえを罰する時が来た。
50:31 Behold, I am against you, O you most proud, says the Lord GOD of hosts: for your day has come, the time that I will visit you.
50:32 高ぶる者はつまずき倒れる、これを助け起すものはない。わたしはその町々に火を燃やして、その周囲の者をことごとく焼き尽す。
50:32 And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.
50:33 万軍の主はこう言われる、イスラエルの民とユダの民は共にしえたげられている。彼らをとりこにした者はみな彼らを固く守って釈放することを拒む。
50:33 Thus says the LORD of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go.
50:34 彼らをあがなう者は強く、その名は万軍の主といわれる。彼は必ず彼らの訴えをただし、この地に安きを与えるが、バビロンに住む者には不安を与えられる。
50:34 Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall thoroughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and trouble the inhabitants of Babylon.
50:35 主は言われる、カルデヤびとの上とバビロンに住む者の上、そのつかさたち、その知者たちの上につるぎが臨む。
50:35 A sword is upon the Chaldeans, says the LORD, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men.
50:36 占い師の上につるぎが臨み、彼らは愚か者となる。その勇士の上につるぎが臨み、彼らは滅ぼされる。
50:36 A sword is upon the liars; and they shall be foolish: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed.
50:37 その馬の上と、その車の上につるぎが臨み、またそのうちにあるすべての雇兵の上に臨み、彼らは女のようになる。その財宝の上につるぎが臨み、それはかすめられる。
50:37 A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed.
50:38 その水の上に、ひでりが来て、それはかわく。それは、この地が偶像の地であって、人々が偶像に心が狂っているからだ。
50:38 A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols.
50:39 それゆえ、野の獣と山犬とは共にバビロンにおり、だちょうもそこに住む。しかし、いつまでもその地に住む人はなく、世々ここに住む人はない。
50:39 Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there, and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation.
50:40 主は言われる、神がソドムとゴモラと、その隣の町々を滅ぼされたように、そこに住む人はなく、そこに宿る人の子はない。
50:40 As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, says the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.
50:41 見よ、一つの民が北の方から来る。大いなる国と多くの王が／地の果から立ち上がっている。
50:41 Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
50:42 彼らは弓と、やりを取る。残忍で、あわれみがなく、その響きは海の鳴りとどろくようである。バビロンの娘よ、彼らは馬に乗り、いくさびとのように身をよろって、あなたを攻める。
50:42 They shall hold the bow and the lance: they are cruel, and will not show mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, every one put in array, like a man to the battle, against you, O daughter of Babylon.
50:43 バビロンの王はそのうわさを聞いて、その手は弱り、子を産む女に臨むような／痛みと苦しみに迫られた。
50:43 The king of Babylon has heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.
50:44 見よ、ししがヨルダンの密林から上ってきて、じょうぶな羊のおりを襲うように、わたしは、たちまち彼らをそこから逃げ去らせる。そしてわたしの選ぶ者をその上に立てる。だれかわたしのような者があるであろうか。だれがわたしを呼びつけることができようか。どの牧者がわたしの前に立つことができようか。

50:45 Therefore hear all of you the counsel of the LORD, that he has taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he has purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them.
50:46 バビロンが取られたとの声によって地は震い、その叫びは国々のうちに聞える」。
50:46 At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.
51:1 主はこう言われる、「見よ、わたしは、滅ぼす者の心を奮い起して、バビロンを攻め、カルデヤに住む者を攻めさせる。
51:1 Thus says the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind;
51:2 わたしはバビロンに、あおぎ分ける者をつかわす。彼らは、その災の日に、四方からこれを攻め、それをあおぎ分けて、その地をむなしくする。
51:2 And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about.
51:3 射手にはその弓を張らせることなく、よろいを着て立ち上がらせるな。その若き者をあわれむことなく、その軍勢をことごとく滅ぼせ。
51:3 Against him that bends let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifts himself up in his brigandine: and spare all of you not her young men; destroy all of you utterly all her host.
51:4 彼らはカルデヤびとの地に殺されて倒れ、そのちまたに傷ついて倒れる。
51:4 Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and they that are thrust through in her streets.
51:5 イスラエルとユダは／その神、万軍の主に捨てられてはいないが、しかしカルデヤびとの地には／イスラエルの聖者に向かって犯した罪が／満ちている。
51:5 For Israel has not been forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the LORD of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.
51:6 バビロンのうちからのがれ出て、おのおのその命を救え。その罰にまきこまれて断ち滅ぼされてはならない。今は主があだを返される時だから、それに報復をされるのである。
51:6 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD's vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence.
51:7 バビロンは主の手のうちにある金の杯であって、すべての地を酔わせた。国々はその酒を飲んだので、国々は狂った。
51:7 Babylon has been a golden cup in the LORD's hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.
51:8 バビロンはたちまち倒れて破れた。これがために嘆け。その傷のために乳香を取れ。あるいは、いえるかも知れない。
51:8 Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: wail for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.
51:9 われわれはバビロンをいやそうとしたが、これはいえなかった。われわれはこれを捨てて、おのおの自分の国に帰ろう。その罰が天に達し、雲にまで及んでいるからだ。
51:9 We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reachs unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.
51:10 主はわれわれの正しいことを明らかにされた。さあ、われわれはシオンで、われわれの神、主のみわざを告げ示そう。
51:10 The LORD has brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God.
51:11 矢をとぎ、盾を取れ。主はメデアびとの王たちの心を引き立てられる。主のバビロンに思い図ることは、これを滅ぼすことであり、主があだを返し、その宮のあだを返されるのである。
51:11 Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD has raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of his temple.
51:12 バビロンの城壁に向かって旗を立て、見張りを強固にし、番兵を置き、伏兵を備えよ。主がバビロンに住む者を攻めようと図り、その言われたことを、いま行われるからだ。
51:12 Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD has both devised and done that which he spoke against the inhabitants of Babylon.
51:13 多くの水のほとりに住み、多くの財宝を持つ者よ、あなたの終りが来て、その命の糸は断たれる。
51:13 O you that dwell upon many waters, abundant in treasures, yours end has come, and the measure of your covetousness.
51:14 万軍の主はみずからをさして誓い、言われる、わたしは必ずあなたのうちに、人をいなごのように満たす。彼らはあなたに向かって、かちどきの声をあげる。
51:14 The LORD of hosts has sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill you with men, as with caterpillars; and they shall lift up a shout against you.
51:15 主はその力をもって地を造り、その知恵をもって世界を建て、その悟りをもって天をのべられた。
51:15 He has made the earth by his power, he has established the world by his wisdom, and has stretched out the heaven by his understanding.
51:16 彼が声を出されると、天に多くの水のざわめきがあり、また地の果から霧を立ちあがらせられる。彼は雨のためにいなびかりをおこし、その倉から風を取り出される。
51:16 When he utters his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens; and he causes the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: he makes lightnings with rain, and brings forth the wind out of his treasures.
51:17 すべての人は愚かで知恵がなく、すべての金細工人は／その造った偶像のために恥をこうむる。その偶像は偽り物で、そのうちに息がないからだ。
51:17 Every man is brutish by his knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
51:18 それらは、むなしいもの、迷いのわざである。罰せられる時になれば滅びるものである。
51:18 They are vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
51:19 ヤコブの分である彼はこのようなものではない、彼は万物の造り主だからである。イスラエルは彼の嗣業としての部族である。彼の名は万軍の主という。
51:19 The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the LORD of hosts is his name.
51:20 おまえはわたしの鎚であり、戦いの武器である。わたしはおまえをもってすべての国を砕き、おまえをもって万国を滅ぼす。
51:20 You are my battle axe and weapons of war: for with you will I break in pieces the nations, and with you will I destroy kingdoms;
51:21 おまえをもってわたしは馬と、その騎手とを砕き、おまえをもって戦車とそれに乗る者とを砕く。
51:21 And with you will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with you will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;
51:22 わたしはおまえをもって男と女とを砕き、おまえをもって老いた者と幼い者とを砕き、おまえをもって若い者と、おとめとを砕く。
51:22 With you also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with you will I break in pieces old and young; and with you will I break in pieces the young man and the maid;
51:23 わたしはおまえをもって、羊飼と、その群れとを砕き、おまえをもって農夫と、くびきを負う家畜とを砕き、おまえをもっておさたちと、つかさたちとを砕く。
51:23 I will also break in pieces with you the shepherd and his flock; and with you will I break in pieces the farmer and his yoke of oxen; and with you will I break in pieces captains and rulers.
51:24 わたしはバビロンとカルデヤに住むすべての者とに、彼らがシオンで行ったもろもろの悪しき事のために、あなたがたの目の前で報いをすると、主は言われる。
51:24 And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, says the LORD.
51:25 主は言われる、全地を滅ぼし尽す滅ぼしの山よ、見よ、わたしはおまえの敵となる、わたしは手をおまえの上に伸べて、おまえを岩からころばし、おまえを焼け山にする。
51:25 Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain, says the LORD, which destroys all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon you, and roll you down from the rocks, and will make you a burnt mountain.
51:26 主は言われる、人がおまえから石を取って、隅の石とすることなく、また礎とすることもない。おまえはいつまでも荒れ地となっている。
51:26 And they shall not take of you a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but you shall be desolate for ever, says the LORD.
51:27 地に旗を立て、国々のうちにラッパを吹き、国々の民を集めてそれを攻め、アララテ、ミンニ、アシケナズの国々をまねいて／それを攻め、軍の長を立ててそれを攻め、群がるいなごのように馬を上り行かせよ。
51:27 Set all of you up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillars.
51:28 国々の民を集めてそれを攻め、メデアびとの王たちと、そのおさたち、つかさたち、およびすべての領地の人々を集めてこれを攻めよ。
51:28 Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.
51:29 その地は震い、かつもだえ苦しむ、主がその思い図ることをバビロンにおこない、バビロンの地を、住む人なき荒れ地とされるからだ。
51:29 And the land shall tremble and sorrow: for every purpose of the LORD shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant.
51:30 バビロンの勇士たちは戦いをやめて、その城にこもり、力はうせて、女のようになる。その家は焼け、その貫の木は砕かれる。
51:30 The mighty men of Babylon have ceased to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might has failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwelling places; her bars are broken.
51:31 飛脚は走って飛脚に会い、使者は走って使者に会い、バビロンの王に告げて、町はことごとく取られ、
51:31 One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to show the king of Babylon that his city is taken at every quarter,
51:32 渡し場は奪われ、とりでは火で焼かれ、兵士はおびえていると言う。
51:32 And that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.
51:33 万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、バビロンの娘は、打ち場のようだ、その踏まれる時が来たのだ。しばらくしてその刈り取られる時が来る」。
51:33 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.
51:34 「バビロンの王ネブカデレザルはわたしを食い尽し、わたしを滅ぼし、わたしを、からの器のようにし、龍のようにわたしを飲み、わたしのうまい物でその腹を満たし、わたしを洗いざらいにした。
51:34 Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me, he has crushed me, he has made me an empty vessel, he has swallowed me up like a dragon, he has filled his belly with my delicates, he has cast me out.
51:35 わたしとわたしの肉親におこなった暴虐は、バビロンにふりかかる」と／シオンに住む者は言わなければならない。「わたしの血はカルデヤに住む者にふりかかる」と／エルサレムは言わなければならない。
51:35 The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say.
51:36 それゆえ主はこう言われる、「見よ、わたしはあなたの訴えをただし、あなたのためにあだを返す。わたしはバビロンの海をかわかし、その泉をかわかす。
51:36 Therefore thus says the LORD; Behold, I will plead your cause, and take vengeance for you; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry.
51:37 バビロンは荒塚となり、山犬のすまいとなり、驚きとなり、笑いとなり、住む人のない所となる。
51:37 And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwelling place for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant.
51:38 彼らはししのように共にほえ、若いししのようにほえる。
51:38 They shall roar together like lions: they shall yell as lions' whelps.
51:39 彼らの欲の燃えている時、わたしは宴を設けて彼らを酔わせ、彼らがついに気を失って、ながい眠りにいり、もはや目をさますことのないようにしようと／主は言われる。
51:39 In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, says the LORD.
51:40 わたしは彼らを小羊のように、また雄羊や雄やぎのように、ほふり場に下らせよう。
51:40 I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he goats.
51:41 ああ、バビロンはついに取られた、全地の人の、ほめたたえた者は捕えられた。ああ、バビロンはついに国々のうちに驚きとなった。
51:41 How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!
51:42 海はバビロンにあふれかかり、どよめく波におおわれた。
51:42 The sea has come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.
51:43 その町々は荒れて、かわいた地となり、砂原となり、住む人のない地となる。人の子はひとりとしてそこを過ぎることはない。
51:43 Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwells, neither does any son of man pass thereby.
51:44 わたしはバビロンでベルを罰し、そののみこんだものを口から取り出す。国々が川のように彼に流れ入ることはなくなる。バビロンの城壁は倒れた。
51:44 And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he has swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him: yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.
51:45 わが民よ、あなたがたはその中から出て、おのおの主の激しい怒りを免れ、その命を救え。
51:45 My people, go all of you out of the midst of her, and deliver all of you every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD.
51:46 心を弱くしてはならない、この地で聞くうわさを恐れてはならない。うわさはこの年にもくれば、また次の年にもくる。この地に暴虐があり、つかさとつかさとが攻めあうことがある。
51:46 And lest your heart faint, and all of you fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.
51:47 それゆえ見よ、わたしがバビロンの偶像を罰する日が来る。その全地ははずかしめられ、その殺される者はみなその中に倒れる。
51:47 Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.
51:48 天と地とそのうちにあるすべてのものは／バビロンの事で喜び歌う。滅ぼす者が北の方からここに来るからであると／主は言われる。
51:48 Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, says the LORD.
51:49 イスラエルの殺された者たちのために、バビロンは倒れなければならない、バビロンのために全地の殺された者は倒れたのだ。
51:49 As Babylon has caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth.
51:50 つるぎをのがれてきたあなたがたは、行け、立ちとどまってはならない。遠くから主を覚え、エルサレムを心にとめよ。
51:50 All of you that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still: remember the LORD far off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.
51:51 『われわれはののしりを聞いたので、恥じている。異邦人が主の宮の聖所にはいったので、恥がわれわれの顔をおおった』。
51:51 We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame has covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD's house.
51:52 主は言われる、それゆえ見よ、わたしがその偶像を罰する日が来る、傷つけられた者が、その全国にうめくようになる。
51:52 Wherefore, behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan.
51:53 たといバビロンが天に上っても、その城を高くして固めても、滅ぼす者はわたしから出て、これに臨むと主は言われる。
51:53 Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, says the LORD.
51:54 聞け、バビロンの叫びを、カルデヤびとの地に起る大いなる滅びの騒ぎ声を。
51:54 A sound of a cry comes from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans:
51:55 主がバビロンを滅ぼし、その大いなる声を絶やされるのだ。その波は大水のように鳴りとどろき、その声はひびき渡る。
51:55 Because the LORD has spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered:
51:56 滅ぼす者がこれに臨み、バビロンに来た。その勇士たちは捕えられ、その弓は折られる。主は報いをする神であるから必ず報いられるのだ。
51:56 Because the spoiler has come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite.
51:57 わたしはその君たちと知者たち、おさたち、つかさたち、および勇士たちを酔わせる。彼らは、ながい眠りにいり、目をさますことはない。万軍の主と呼ばれる王がこれを言わせる。
51:57 And I will make drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, says the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.
51:58 万軍の主はこう言われる、バビロンの広い城壁は地にくずされ、その高い門は火に焼かれる。こうして民の労苦はむなしくなり、国民はただ火のために疲れる」。
51:58 Thus says the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary.
51:59 マアセヤの子であるネリヤの子セラヤが、ユダの王ゼデキヤと共に、その治世の四年にバビロンへ行くとき、預言者エレミヤがセラヤに命じた言葉。セラヤは宿営の長であった。
51:59 The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. And this Seraiah was a quiet prince.
51:60 エレミヤはバビロンに臨もうとするすべての災を巻物にしるした。これはすなわちバビロンの事についてしるしたすべての言葉である。
51:60 So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written against Babylon.
51:61 エレミヤはセラヤに言った、「あなたはバビロンへ行ったならば、忘れることなくこのすべての言葉を読み、
51:61 And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When you come to Babylon, and shall see, and shall read all these words;
51:62 そして言いなさい、『主よ、あなたはこの所を滅ぼし、人と獣とを問わず、すべてここに住む者のないようにし、永久にここを荒れ地としようと、この所について語られました』と。
51:62 Then shall you say, O LORD, you have spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate for ever.
51:63 あなたがこの巻物を読み終ったならば、これに石をむすびつけてユフラテ川の中に投げこみ、
51:63 And it shall be, when you have made an end of reading this book, that you shall bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates:
51:64 そして言いなさい、『バビロンはこのように沈んで、二度と上がってこない。わたしがこれに災を下すからである』と」。ここまではエレミヤの言葉である。
51:64 And you shall say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.
52:1 ゼデキヤは王となったとき二十一歳であったが、エルサレムで十一年世を治めた。母の名はハムタルといい、リブナのエレミヤの娘である。
52:1 Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
52:2 ゼデキヤはエホヤキムがすべて行ったように、主の目の前に悪事を行った。
52:2 And he did that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.
52:3 たしかに、主の怒りによって、エルサレムとユダとは、そのみ前から捨て去られるようなことになった。そしてゼデキヤはバビロンの王にそむいた。
52:3 For through the anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, till he had cast them out from his presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
52:4 そこで彼の治世の九年十月十日に、バビロンの王ネブカデレザルはその軍勢を率い、エルサレムにきて、これを包囲し、周囲に塁を築いてこれを攻めた。
52:4 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it, and built forts against it round about.
52:5 こうしてこの町は攻め囲まれて、ゼデキヤ王の十一年にまで及んだが、
52:5 So the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.
52:6 その四月九日になって、町の中の食糧は、はなはだしく欠乏し、その地の民は食物を得ることができなくなった。
52:6 And in the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the famine was sore in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.
52:7 そして町の城壁はついに打ち破られたので、兵士たちはみな逃げ、夜のうちに、王の園の近くの、二つの城壁の間の門から町をのがれ出て、カルデヤびとが、町を攻め囲んでいるうちに、アラバの方へ落ちて行った。
52:7 Then the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden; (now the Chaldeans were by the city round about:) and they went by the way of the plain.
52:8 しかしカルデヤびとの軍勢は王を追って行って、エリコの平地でゼデキヤに追いついたが、彼の軍勢がみな散って彼のそばを離れたので、
52:8 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.
52:9 カルデヤびとは王を捕え、ハマテの地のリブラにいるバビロンの王のもとに引いていったので、王は彼の罪を定めた。
52:9 Then they took the king, and carried him up unto the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; where he gave judgment upon him.
52:10 すなわちバビロンの王はゼデキヤの子たちをその目の前で殺させ、ユダのつかさたちをことごとくリブラで殺させ、
52:10 And the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes: he slew also all the princes of Judah in Riblah.
52:11 またゼデキヤの目をつぶさせた。そしてバビロンの王は彼を鎖につないでバビロンへ連れて行き、その死ぬ日まで獄屋に入れて置いた。
52:11 Then he put out the eyes of Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in chains, and carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death.
52:12 五月十日に、――それはバビロンの王ネブカデレザルの世の十九年であった――バビロンの王に仕える侍衛の長ネブザラダンはエルサレムに、はいって、
52:12 Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, which served the king of Babylon, into Jerusalem,
52:13 主の宮と王の宮殿を焼き、エルサレムのすべての家を焼いた。彼は大きな家をみな焼きはらった。
52:13 And burned the house of the LORD, and the king's house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, and all the houses of the great men, burned he with fire:
52:14 また侍衛の長と共にいたカルデヤびとの軍勢は、エルサレムの周囲の城壁をみな取りこわした。
52:14 And all the army of the Chaldeans, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down all the walls of Jerusalem round about.
52:15 そして侍衛の長ネブザラダンは民のうちの最も貧しい者若干、そのほか町のうちに残った者、およびバビロンの王にくだった人、その他工匠たちを捕え移した。
52:15 Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive certain of the poor of the people, and the residue of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude.
52:16 しかし侍衛の長ネブザラダンはその地の最も貧しい者若干を残して、ぶどうを作る者とし、農夫とした。
52:16 But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left certain of the poor of the land for vinedressers and for husbandmen.
52:17 カルデヤびとはまた主の宮の青銅の柱と、洗盤の台と、青銅の海を砕いて、その青銅をことごとくバビロンへ運び、
52:17 Also the pillars of brass that were in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brazen sea that was in the house of the LORD, the Chaldeans brake, and carried all the brass of them to Babylon.
52:18 また、つぼと、十能と、心切りばさみと、鉢と、香を盛る皿および宮の勤めに用いる青銅の器をことごとく取って行った。
52:18 The caldrons also, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the bowls, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered, took they away.
52:19 また彼らは小鉢と、心取り皿と、鉢と、つぼと、燭台と、香を盛る皿と、灌祭の鉢を取った。金で作った物は金として、銀で作った物は銀として、侍衛の長は運び去った。
52:19 And the basons, and the fire-pans, and the bowls, and the caldrons, and the candlesticks, and the spoons, and the cups; that which was of gold in gold, and that which was of silver in silver, took the captain of the guard away.
52:20 ソロモン王が主の宮に造った二本の柱と、一つの海と、海の下の十二の青銅の牛と、台など、このすべての物の青銅の重さは量ることもできなかった。
52:20 The two pillars, one sea, and twelve brazen bulls that were under the bases, which king Solomon had made in the house of the LORD: the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
52:21 この一本の柱の高さは十八キュビト、周囲は十二キュビトで、指四本の厚さがあり、中は、うつろであった。
52:21 And concerning the pillars, the height of one pillar was eighteen cubits; and a fastener of twelve cubits did compass it; and the thickness thereof was four fingers: it was hollow.
52:22 その上に青銅の柱頭があり、柱頭の高さは五キュビト、柱頭の周囲は網細工と、ざくろとで飾り、これらもみな青銅であった。他の柱もそのざくろも、これと同じであった。
52:22 And a capital of brass was upon it; and the height of one capital was five cubits, with network and pomegranates upon the capitals round about, all of brass. The second pillar also and the pomegranates were like unto these.
52:23 その四方に九十六個のざくろがあり、周囲の網細工の上にあるざくろの数は百個であった。
52:23 And there were ninety and six pomegranates on a side; and all the pomegranates upon the network were an hundred round about.
52:24 侍衛の長は祭司長セラヤと次席の祭司ゼパニヤと三人の門を守る者を捕え、
52:24 And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door:
52:25 また兵士をつかさどるひとりの役人と、町にいた王の側近の者七人と、その地の民を募る軍勢の長の書記官と、町の中にいた六十人の者を町から捕え去った。
52:25 He took also out of the city an eunuch, which had the charge of the men of war; and seven men of them that were near the king's person, which were found in the city; and the principal scribe of the host, who mustered the people of the land; and threescore men of the people of the land, that were found in the midst of the city.
52:26 侍衛の長ネブザラダンは、これらの人を捕えて、リブラにいるバビロンの王のもとに連れて行った。
52:26 So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah.
52:27 バビロンの王は、ハマテの地のリブラで彼らを撃ち殺した。こうして、ユダは自分の地から捕え移された。
52:27 And the king of Babylon stroke them, and put them to death in Riblah in the land of Hamath. Thus Judah was carried away captive out of his own land.
52:28 ネブカデレザルが捕え移した民の数は次のとおりである。第七年にはユダヤ人三千二十三人。
52:28 This is the people whom Nebuchadrezzar carried away captive: in the seventh year three thousand Jews and three and twenty:
52:29 またネブカデレザルはその第十八年にエルサレムから八百三十二人を捕え移した。
52:29 In the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred thirty and two persons:
52:30 ネブカデレザルの二十三年に侍衛の長ネブザラダンは、ユダヤ人七百四十五人を捕え移した。この総数は四千六百人であった。
52:30 In the three and twentieth year of Nebuchadrezzar Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred forty and five persons: all the persons were four thousand and six hundred.
52:31 ユダの王エホヤキンが捕え移されて後三十七年の十二月二十五日に、バビロンの王エビルメロダクはその即位の年に、ユダの王エホヤキンを獄屋から出し、そのこうべを挙げさせ、
52:31 And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the five and twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the first year of his reign lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him forth out of prison.
52:32 親切に彼を慰め、その位を、バビロンで共にいる王たちの位よりも高くした。
52:32 And spoke kindly unto him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon,
52:33 こうしてエホヤキンは獄屋の服を脱いだ。そして生きている間は毎日王の食卓で食事し、
52:33 And changed his prison garments: and he did continually eat bread before him all the days of his life.
52:34 彼の給与としては、その死ぬ日まで一生の間、たえず日々の必要にしたがって、バビロンの王から給与を賜わった。
52:34 And for his diet, there was a continual diet given him of the king of Babylon, every day a portion until the day of his death, all the days of his life.
