1:1 PABLO, apóstol de Jesucristo por la ordenación de Dios nuestro Salvador, y del Señor Jesucristo, nuestra esperanza;
1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;
1:2 A Timoteo, verdadero hijo en la fe: Gracia, misericordia y paz de Dios nuestro Padre, y de Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor.
1:2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
1:3 Como te rogué que te quedases en Efeso, cuando partí para Macedonia, para que requirieses á algunos que no enseñen diversa doctrina,
1:3 As I besought you to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that you might charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
1:4 Ni presten atención á fábulas y genealogías sin término, que antes engendran cuestiones que la edificación de Dios que es por fe; así te encargo ahora.
1:4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
1:5 Pues el fin del mandamiento es la caridad nacida de corazón limpio, y de buena conciencia, y de fe no fingida:
1:5 Now the end of the commandment is love (o. agape) out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith sincere:
1:6 De lo cual distrayéndose algunos, se apartaron á vanas pláticas;
1:6 From which some having miss the mark have turned aside unto vain arguments;
1:7 Queriendo ser doctores de la ley, sin entender ni lo que hablan, ni lo que afirman.
1:7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
1:8 Sabemos empero que la ley es buena, si alguno usa de ella legítimamente;
1:8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
1:9 Conociendo esto, que la ley no es puesta para el justo, sino para los injustos y para los desobedientes, para los impíos y pecadores, para los malos y profanos, para los parricidas y matricidas, para los homicidas,
1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
1:10 Para los fornicarios, para los sodomitas, para los ladrones de hombres, para los mentirosos y ladrones de hombres, para los mentirosos y fjperjuros, y si hay alguna otra cosa contraria á la sana doctrina;
1:10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for men-stealers (p. slave traders, kidnappers), for liars, for promise breakers, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
1:11 Según el evangelio de la gloria del Dios bendito, el cual á mí me ha sido encargado.
1:11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
1:12 Y doy gracias al que me fortificó, á Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor, de que me tuvo por fiel, poniéndome en el ministerio:
1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
1:13 Habiendo sido antes blasfemo y perseguidor é injuriador: mas fuí recibido á misericordia, porque lo hice con ignorancia en incredulidad.
1:13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and prone to cause hurt: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
1:14 Mas la gracia de nuestro Señor fué más abundante con la fe y amor que es en Cristo Jesús.
1:14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love (o. agape) which is in Christ Jesus.
1:15 Palabra fiel y digna de ser recibida de todos: que Cristo Jesús vino al mundo para salvar á los pecadores, de los cuales yo soy el primero.
1:15 This is a faithful saying, (o. logos) and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
1:16 Mas por esto fuí recibido á misericordia, para que Jesucristo mostrase en mí el primero toda su clemencia, para ejemplo de los que habían de creer en él para vida eterna.
1:16 Nevertheless for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
1:17 Por tanto, al Rey de siglos, inmortal, invisible, al solo sabio Dios sea honor y gloria por los siglos de los siglos. Amén.
1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
1:18 Este mandamiento, hijo Timoteo, te encargo, para que, conforme á las profecías pasadas de ti, milites por ellas buena milicia;
1:18 This charge I commit unto you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on you, that you by them might war a good warfare;
1:19 Manteniendo la fe y buena conciencia, la cual echando de sí algunos, hicieron naufragio en la fe:
1:19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
1:20 De los cuales son Himeneo y Alejandro, los cuales entregué á Satanás, para que aprendan á no blasfemar.
1:20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

2:1 AMONESTO pues, ante todas cosas, que se hagan rogativas, oraciones, peticiones, hacimientos de gracias, por todos los hombres;
2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2:2 Por los reyes y por todos los que están en eminencia, para que vivamos quieta y reposadamente en toda piedad y honestidad.
2:2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
2:3 Porque esto es bueno y agradable delante de Dios nuestro Salvador;
2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
2:4 El cual quiere que todos los hombres sean salvos, y que vengan al conocimiento de la verdad.
2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
2:5 Porque hay un Dios, asimismo un mediador entre Dios y los hombres, Jesucristo hombre;
2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
2:6 El cual se dió á sí mismo en precio del rescate por todos, para testimonio en sus tiempos:
2:6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
2:7 De lo que yo soy puesto por predicador y apóstol, (digo verdad en Cristo, no miento) doctor de los Gentiles en fidelidad y verdad.
2:7 Unto which I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
2:8 Quiero, pues, que los hombres oren en todo lugar, levantando manos limpias, sin ira ni contienda.
2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
2:9 Asimismo también las mujeres, ataviándose en hábito honesto, con vergüenza y modestia; no con cabellos encrespados, u oro, ó perlas, ó vestidos costosos.
2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with reverence and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
2:10 Sino de buenas obras, como conviene á mujeres que profesan piedad.
2:10 But (which becomes women professing godliness) with good works.
2:11 La mujer aprenda en silencio, con toda sujeción.
2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
2:12 Porque no permito á la mujer enseñar, ni tomar autoridad sobre el hombre, sino estar en silencio.
2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
2:13 Porque Adam fué formado el primero, después Eva;
2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
2:14 Y Adam no fué engañado, sino la mujer, siendo seducida, vino á ser envuelta en transgresión:
2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
2:15 Empero se salvará engendrando hijos, si permaneciere en la fe y caridad y santidad, con modestia.
2:15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and love (o. agape) and holiness with sobriety.

3:1 PALABRA fiel: Si alguno apetece obispado, buena obra desea.
3:1 This is a true saying, (o. logos) If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desires a good work.
3:2 Conviene, pues, que el obispo sea irreprensible, marido de una mujer, solícito, templado, compuesto, hospedador, apto para enseñar;
3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, able to teach;
3:3 No amador del vino, no heridor, no codicioso de torpes ganancias, sino moderado, no litigioso, ajeno de avaricia;
3:3 Not given to wine, not an attacker, not greedy of filthy illegal gain; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
3:4 Que gobierne bien su casa, que tenga sus hijos en sujeción con toda honestidad;
3:4 One that rules well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
3:5 (Porque el que no sabe gobernar su casa, ¿cómo cuidará de la iglesia de Dios?)
3:5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
3:6 No un neófito, porque inflándose no caiga en juicio del diablo.
3:6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
3:7 También conviene que tenga buen testimonio de los extraños, porque no caiga en afrenta y en lazo del diablo.
3:7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
3:8 Los diáconos asimismo, deben ser honestos, no bilingües, no dados á mucho vino, no amadores de torpes ganancias;
3:8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy illegal gain;
3:9 Que tengan el misterio de la fe con limpia conciencia.
3:9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
3:10 Y éstos también sean antes probados; y así ministren, si fueren sin crimen.
3:10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
3:11 Las mujeres asimismo, honestas, no detractoras, templadas, fieles en todo.
3:11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
3:12 Los diáconos sean maridos de una mujer, que gobiernen bien sus hijos y sus casas.
3:12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
3:13 Porque los que bien ministraren, ganan para sí buen grado, y mucha confianza en la fe que es en Cristo Jesús.
3:13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
3:14 Esto te escribo con esperanza que iré presto á ti:
3:14 These things write I unto you, hoping to come unto you shortly:
3:15 Y si no fuere tan presto, para que sepas cómo te conviene conversar en la casa de Dios, que es la iglesia del Dios vivo, columna y apoyo de la verdad.
3:15 But if I tarry long, that you may know how you ought to behave yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
3:16 Y sin cotradicción, grande es el misterio de la piedad: Dios ha sido manifestado en carne; ha sido justificado con el Espíritu; ha sido visto de los ángeles; ha sido predicado á los Gentiles; ha sido creído en el mundo; ha sido recibido en gloria.
3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, (o. pneuma) seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

4:1 EMPERO el Espíritu dice manifiestamente, que en los venideros tiempos alguno apostatarán de la fe escuchando á espíritus de error y á doctrinas de demonios;
4:1 Now the Spirit (o. pneuma) speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, (o. pneuma) and doctrines of devils;
4:2 Que con hipocresía hablarán mentira, teniendo cauterizada la conciencia.
4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
4:3 Que prohibirán casarse, y mandarán abstenerse de las viandas que Dios crió para que con hacimiento de gracias participasen de ellas los fieles, y los que han conocido la verdad.
4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God has created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4:4 Porque todo lo que Dios crió es bueno, y nada hay que desechar, tomándose con hacimiento de gracias:
4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
4:5 Porque por la palabra de Dios y por la oración es santificado.
4:5 For it is sanctified by the word (o. logos) of God and prayer.
4:6 Si esto propusieres á los hermanos, serás buen ministro de Jesucristo, criado en las palabras de la fe y de la buena doctrina, la cual has alcanzado.
4:6 If you put the brethren in remembrance of these things, you shall be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words (o. logos) of faith and of good doctrine, unto which you have attained.
4:7 Mas las fábulas profanas y de viejas desecha, y ejercítate para la piedad.
4:7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise yourself rather unto godliness.
4:8 Porque el ejercicio corporal para poco es provechoso; mas la piedad para todo aprovecha, pues tiene promesa de esta vida presente, y de la venidera.
4:8 For bodily exercise profits little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
4:9 Palabra fiel es esta, y digna de ser recibida de todos.
4:9 This is a faithful saying (o. logos) and worthy of all acceptation.
4:10 Que por esto aun trabajamos y sufrimos oprobios, porque esperamos en el Dios viviente, el cual es Salvador de todos los hombres, mayormente de los que creen.
4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
4:11 Esto manda y enseña.
4:11 These things command and teach.
4:12 Ninguno tenga en poco tu juventud; pero sé ejemplo de los fieles en palabra, en conversación, en caridad, en espíritu, en fe, en limpieza.
4:12 Let no man despise your youth; but be you an example of the believers, in word, (o. logos) in conversation, in love, (o. agape) in spirit, (o. pneuma) in faith, in purity.
4:13 Entre tanto que voy, ocúpate en leer, en exhortar, en enseñar.
4:13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
4:14 No descuides el don que está en ti, que te es dado por profecía con la imposición de las manos del presbiterio.
4:14 Neglect not the gift that is in you, which was given you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
4:15 Medita estas cosas; ocúpate en ellas; para que tu aprovechamiento sea manifiesto á todos.
4:15 Meditate upon these things; give yourself wholly to them; that your profiting may appear to all.
4:16 Ten cuidado de ti mismo y de la doctrina; persiste en ello; pues haciendo esto, á ti mismo salvarás y á los que te oyeren.
4:16 Take heed unto yourself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this you shall both save yourself, and them that hear you.

5:1 NO reprendas al anciano, sino exhórtale como á padre: á los más jóvenes, como á hermanos;
5:1 Rebuke not an elder, but implore him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;
5:2 A las ancianas, como á madres; á las jovencitas, como á hermanas, con toda pureza.
5:2 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
5:3 Honra á las viudas que en verdad son viudas.
5:3 Honour widows that are widows indeed.
5:4 Pero si alguna viuda tuviere hijos, ó nietos, aprendan primero á gobernar su casa piadosamente, y á recompensar á sus padres: porque esto es lo honesto y agradable delante de Dios.
5:4 But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to show piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
5:5 Ahora, la que en verdad es viuda y solitaria, espera en Dios, y es diligente en suplicaciones y oraciones noche y día.
5:5 Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusts in God, and continues in supplications and prayers night and day.
5:6 Pero la que vive en delicias, viviendo está muerta.
5:6 But she that lives in pleasure is dead while she lives.
5:7 Denuncia pues estas cosas, para que sean sin reprensión.
5:7 And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
5:8 Y si alguno no tiene cuidado de los suyos, y mayormente de los de su casa, la fe negó, y es peor que un infiel.
5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
5:9 La viuda sea puesta en clase especial, no menos que de sesenta años, que haya sido esposa de un solo marido.
5:9 Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man.
5:10 Que tenga testimonio en buenas obras; si crió hijos; si ha ejercitado la hospitalidad; si ha lavado los pies de los santos; si ha socorrido á los afligidos; si ha seguido toda buena obra.
5:10 Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
5:11 Pero viudas más jóvenes no admitas: porque después de hacerse licenciosas contra Cristo, quieren casarse.
5:11 But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
5:12 Condenadas ya, por haber falseado la primera fe.
5:12 Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
5:13 Y aun también se acostrumbran á ser ociosas, á andar de casa en casa; y no solamente ociosas, sino también parleras y curiosas, hablando lo que no conviene.
5:13 And likewise they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but gossiping also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
5:14 Quiero pues, que las que son jóvenes se casen, críen hijos, gobiernen la casa; que ninguna ocasión den al adversario para maldecir.
5:14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
5:15 Porque ya algunas han vuelto atrás en pos de Satanás.
5:15 For some are already turned aside after Satan.
5:16 Si algún fiel ó alguna fiel tiene viudas, manténgalas, y no sea gravada la iglesia; á fin de que haya lo suficiente para las que de verdad son viudas.
5:16 If any man or woman that believes have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.
5:17 Los ancianos que gobiernan bien, sean tenidos por dignos de doblada honra; mayormente los que trabajan en predicar y enseñar.
5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word (o. logos) and doctrine.
5:18 Porque la Escritura dice: No embozarás al buey que trilla; y: Digno es el obrero de su jornal.
5:18 For the scripture says, You shall not suppress the ox that treads out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
5:19 Contra el anciano no recibas acusación sino con dos ó tres testigos.
5:19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
5:20 A los que pecaren, repréndelos delante de todos, para que los otros también teman.
5:20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
5:21 Te requiero delante de Dios y del Señor Jesucristo, y de sus ángeles escogidos, que guardes estas cosas sin perjuicio de nadie, que nada hagas inclinándote á la una parte.
5:21 I charge you before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that you observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
5:22 No impongas de ligero las manos á ninguno, ni comuniques en pecados ajenos: consérvate en limpieza.
5:22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep yourself pure.
5:23 No bebas de aquí adelante agua, sino usa de un poco de vino por causa del estómago, y de tus continuas enfermedades.
5:23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and yours often infirmities.
5:24 Los pecados de algunos hombres, antes que vengan ellos á juicio, son manifiestos; mas á otros les vienen después.
5:24 Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
5:25 Asimismo las buenas obras antes son manifiestas; y las que son de otra manera, no pueden esconderse.
5:25 Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.

6:1 TODOS los que están debajo del yugo de servidumbre, tengan á sus señores por dignos de toda honra, porque no sea blasfemado el nombre del Señor y la doctrina.
6:1 Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
6:2 Y los que tienen amos fieles, no los tengan en menos, por ser hermanos; antes sírvanles mejor, por cuanto son fieles y amados, y partícipes del beneficio. Esto enseña y exhorta.
6:2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
6:3 Si alguno enseña otra cosa, y no asiente á sanas palabras de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, y á la doctrina que es conforme á la piedad;
6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, (o. logos) even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
6:4 Es hinchado, nada sabe, y enloquece acerca de cuestiones y contiendas de palabras, de las cuales nacen envidias, pleitos, maledicencias, malas sospechas,
6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof comes envy, strife, railings, evil questionings,
6:5 Porfías de hombres corruptos de entendimiento y privados de la verdad, que tienen la piedad por granjería: apártate de los tales.
6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw yourself.
6:6 Empero grande granjería es la piedad con contentamiento.
6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
6:7 Porque nada hemos traído á este mundo, y sin duda nada podremos sacar.
6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
6:8 Así que, teniendo sustento y con qué cubrirnos, seamos contentos con esto.
6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
6:9 Porque los que quieren enriquecerse, caen en tentación y lazo, y en muchas codicias locas y dañosas, que hunden á los hombres en perdición y muerte.
6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
6:10 Porque el amor del dinero es la raíz de todos los males: el cual codiciando algunos, se descaminaron de la fe, y fueron traspasados de muchos dolores.
6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
6:11 Mas tú, oh hombre de Dios, huye de estas cosas, y sigue la justicia, la piedad, la fe, la caridad, la paciencia, la mansedumbre.
6:11 But you, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, (o. agape) patience, meekness.
6:12 Pelea la buena batalla de la fe, echa mano de la vida eterna, á la cual asimismo eres llamado, habiendo hecho buena profesión delante de muchos testigos.
6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, unto which you are also called, and have professed a good profession before many witnesses.
6:13 Te mando delante de Dios, que da vida á todas las cosas, y de Jesucristo, que testificó la buena profesión delante de Poncio Pilato,
6:13 I give you charge in the sight of God, who replenishes life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
6:14 Que guardes el mandamiento sin mácula ni reprensión, hasta la aparición de nuestro Señor Jesucristo:
6:14 That you keep this commandment without spot, blameless, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
6:15 La cual á su tiempo mostrará el Bienaventurado y solo Poderoso, Rey de reyes, y Señor de señores;
6:15 Which in his times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
6:16 Quien sólo tiene inmortalidad, que habita en luz inaccesible; á quien ninguno de los hombres ha visto ni puede ver: al cual sea la honra y el imperio sempiterno. Amén.
6:16 Who only has immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man has seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
6:17 A los ricos de este siglo manda que no sean altivos, ni pongan la esperanza en la incertidumbre de las riquezas, sino en el Dios vivo, que nos da todas las cosas en abundancia de que gocemos:
6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;
6:18 Que hagan bien, que sean ricos en buenas obras, dadivosos, que con facilidad comuniquen;
6:18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
6:19 Atesorando para sí buen fundamento para lo por venir, que echen mano á la vida eterna.
6:19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
6:20 Oh Timoteo, guarda lo que se te ha encomendado, evitando las profanas pláticas de vanas cosas, y los argumentos de la falsamente llamada ciencia:
6:20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to your trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
6:21 La cual profesando algunos, fueron descaminados acerca de la fe. La gracia sea contigo. Amén. espístola á Timoteo fué escrita de Laodicea, que es metrópoli de la Frigia Pacatiana.
6:21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.

1:1 PABLO, apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, según la promesa de la vida que es en Cristo Jesús,
1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,
1:2 A Timoteo, amado hijo: Gracia, misericordia, y paz de Dios el Padre y de Jesucristo nuestro Señor.
1:2 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
1:3 Doy gracias á Dios, al cual sirvo desde mis mayores con limpia conciencia, de que sin cesar tengo memoria de ti en mis oraciones noche y día;
1:3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of you in my prayers night and day;
1:4 Deseando verte, acordándome de tus lágrimas, para ser lleno de gozo;
1:4 Greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy;
1:5 Trayendo á la memoria la fe no fingida que hay en ti, la cual residió primero en tu abuela Loida, y en tu madre Eunice; y estoy cierto que en ti también.
1:5 When I call to remembrance the sincere faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in you also.
1:6 Por lo cual te aconsejo que despiertes el don de Dios, que está en ti por la imposición de mis manos.
1:6 Wherefore I put you in remembrance that you stir up the gift of God, which is in you by the putting on of my hands.
1:7 Porque no nos ha dado Dios el espíritu de temor, sino el de fortaleza, y de amor, y de templanza.
1:7 For God has not given us the spirit (o. pneuma) of fear; but of power, and of love, (o. agape) and of a sound mind.
1:8 Por tanto no te avergüences del testimonio de nuestro Señor, ni de mí, preso suyo; antes sé participante de los trabajos del evangelio según la virtud de Dios,
1:8 Be not you therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be you partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
1:9 Que nos salvó y llamó con vocación santa, no conforme á nuestras obras, mas según el intento suyo y gracia, la cual nos es dada en Cristo Jesús antes de los tiempos de los siglos,
1:9 Who has saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
1:10 Mas ahora es manifestada por la aparición de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo, el cual quitó la muerte, y sacó á la luz la vida y la inmortalidad por el evangelio;
1:10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has abolished death, and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
1:11 Del cual yo soy puesto predicador, y apóstol, y maestro de los Gentiles.
1:11 Unto which I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
1:12 Por lo cual asimismo padezco esto: mas no me avergüenzo; porque yo sé á quien he creído, y estoy cierto que es poderoso para guardar mi depósito para aquel día.
1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
1:13 Retén la forma de las sanas palabras que de mi oíste, en la fe y amor que es en Cristo Jesús.
1:13 Hold fast the form of sound words, (o. logos) which you have heard of me, in faith and love (o. agape) which is in Christ Jesus.
1:14 Guarda el buen depósito por el Espíritu Santo que habita en nosotros.
1:14 That good thing which was committed unto you keep by the Holy Spirit (o. pneuma) which dwells in us.
1:15 Ya sabes esto, que me han sido contrarios todos los que son en Asia, de los cuales son Figello y Hermógenes.
1:15 This you know, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
1:16 Dé el Señor misericordia á la casa de Onesíforo; que muchas veces me refrigeró, y no se avergonzó de mi cadena:
1:16 The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:
1:17 Antes, estando él en Roma, me buscó solícitamente, y me halló.
1:17 But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.
1:18 Déle el Señor que halle misericordia cerca del Señor en aquel día. Y cuánto nos ayudó en Efeso, tú lo sabes mejor.
1:18 The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, you know very well.

2:1 PUES tú, hijo mío, esfuérzate en la gracia que es en Cristo Jesús.
2:1 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2:2 Y lo que has oído de mí entre muchos testigos, esto encarga á los hombres fieles que serán idóneos para enseñar también á otros.
2:2 And the things that you have heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit you to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
2:3 Tú pues, sufre trabajos como fiel soldado de Jesucristo.
2:3 You therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
2:4 Ninguno que milita se embaraza en los negocios de la vida; á fin de agradar á aquel que lo tomó por soldado.
2:4 No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier.
2:5 Y aun también el que lidia, no es coronado si no lidiare legítimamente.
2:5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
2:6 El labrador, para recibir los frutos, es menester que trabaje primero.
2:6 The farmer that labours must be first partaker of the fruits.
2:7 Considera lo que digo; y el Señor te dé entendimiento en todo.
2:7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give you understanding in all things.
2:8 Acuérdate que Jesucristo, el cual fué de la simiente de David, resucitó de los muertos conforme á mi evangelio;
2:8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
2:9 En el que sufro trabajo, hasta las prisiones á modo de malhechor; mas la palabra de Dios no está presa.
2:9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word (o. logos) of God is not bound.
2:10 Por tanto, todo lo sufro por amor de los escogidos, para que ellos también consigan la salud que es en Cristo Jesús con gloria eterna.
2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
2:11 Es palabra fiel: Que si somos muertos con él, también viviremos con él:
2:11 It is a faithful saying: (o. logos) For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
2:12 Si sufrimos, también reinaremos con él: si negáremos, él también nos negará:
2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
2:13 Si fuéremos infieles, él permanece fiel: no se puede negar á sí mismo.
2:13 If we believe not, yet he abides faithful: he cannot deny himself.
2:14 Recuérdales esto, protestando delante del Señor que no contiendan en palabras, lo cual para nada aprovecha, antes trastorna á los oyentes.
2:14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
2:15 Procura con diligencia presentarte á Dios aprobado, como obrero que no tiene de qué avergonzarse, que traza bien la palabra de verdad.
2:15 Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word (o. logos) of truth.
2:16 Mas evita profanas y vanas parlerías; porque muy adelante irán en la impiedad.
2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
2:17 Y la palabra de ellos carcomerá como gangrena: de los cuales es Himeneo y Fileto;
2:17 And their word (o. logos) will eat as does a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
2:18 Que se han descaminado de la verdad, diciendo que la resurrección es ya hecha, y trastornan la fe de algunos.
2:18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
2:19 Pero el fundamento de Dios está firme, teniendo este sello: Conoce el Señor á los que son suyos; y: Apártese de iniquidad todo aquel que invoca el nombre de Cristo.
2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal, The Lord knows them that are his. And, Let every one that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
2:20 Mas en una casa grande, no solamente hay vasos de oro y de plata, sino también de madera y de barro: y asimismo unos para honra, y otros para deshonra.
2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
2:21 Así que, si alguno se limpiare de estas cosas, será vaso para honra, santificado, y útil para los usos del Señor, y aparejado para todo buena obra.
2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
2:22 Huye también los deseos juveniles; y sigue la justicia, la fe, la caridad, la paz, con los que invocan al Señor de puro corazón.
2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, love, (o. agape) peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
2:23 Empero las cuestiones necias y sin sabiduría desecha, sabiendo que engendran contiendas.
2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
2:24 Que el siervo del Señor no debe ser litigioso, sino manso para con todos, apto para enseñar, sufrido;
2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, able to teach, patient,
2:25 Que con mansedumbre corrija á los que se oponen: si quizá Dios les dé que se arrepientan para conocer la verdad,
2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God possibly will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
2:26 Y se zafen del lazo del diablo, en que están cuativos á voluntad de él.
2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

3:1 ESTO también sepas, que en los postreros días vendrán tiempos peligrosos:
3:1 This know also, that in the last days dangerous times shall come.
3:2 Que habrá hombres amadores de sí mismos, avaros, vanagloriosos, soberbios, detractores, desobedientes á los padres, ingratos, sin santidad,
3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3:3 Sin afecto, desleales, calumniadores, destemplados, crueles, aborrecedores de lo bueno,
3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
3:4 Traidores, arrebatados, hinchados, amadores de los deleites más que de Dios;
3:4 Traitors, rebellious, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
3:5 Teniendo apariencia de piedad, mas habiendo negado la eficacia de ella: y á éstos evita.
3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
3:6 Porque de éstos son los que se entran por las casas, y llevan cautivas las mujercillas cargadas de pecados, llevadas de diversas concupiscencias;
3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
3:7 Que siempre aprenden, y nunca pueden acabar de llegar al conocimiento de la verdad.
3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
3:8 Y de la manera que Jannes y Jambres resistieron á Moisés, así también estos resisten á la verdad; hombres corruptos de entendimiento, réprobos acerca de la fe.
3:8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
3:9 Mas no prevalecerán; porque su insensatez será manifiesta á todos, como también lo fué la de aquéllos.
3:9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.
3:10 Pero tú has comprendido mi doctrina, instrucción, intento, fe, largura de ánimo, caridad, paciencia,
3:10 But you have fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, (o. agape) patience,
3:11 Persecuciones, aflicciones, cuales me sobrevinieron en Antioquía, en Iconio, en Listra, cuales persecuciones he sufrido; y de todas me ha librado el Señor.
3:11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
3:12 Y también todos los que quieren vivir píamente en Cristo Jesús, padecerán persecución.
3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
3:13 Mas los malos hombres y los engañadores, irán de mal en peor, engañando y siendo engañados.
3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
3:14 Empero persiste tú en lo que has aprendido y te persuadiste, sabiendo de quién has aprendido;
3:14 But continue you in the things which you have learned and have been assured of, knowing of whom you have learned them;
3:15 Y que desde la niñez has sabido las Sagradas Escrituras, las cuales te pueden hacer sabio para la salud por la fe que es en Cristo Jesús.
3:15 And that from a child you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
3:16 Toda Escritura es inspirada divinamente y útil para enseñar, para redargüir, para corregir, para instituir en justicia,
3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
3:17 Para que el hombre de Dios sea perfecto, enteramente instruído para toda buena obra.
3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

4:1 REQUIERO yo pues delante de Dios, y del Señor Jesucristo, que ha de juzgar á los vivos y los muertos en su manifestación y en su reino.
4:1 I charge you therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
4:2 Que prediques la palabra; que instes á tiempo y fuera de tiempo; redarguye, reprende; exhorta con toda paciencia y doctrina.
4:2 Preach the word; (o. logos) be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
4:3 Porque vendrá tiempo cuando ni sufrirán la sana doctrina; antes, teniendo comezón de oir, se amotonarán maestros conforme á sus concupiscencias,
4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4:4 Y apartarán de la verdad el oído y se volverán á las fábulas.
4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
4:5 Pero tú vela en todo, soporta las aflicciones, haz la obra de evangelista, cumple tu ministerio.
4:5 But watch you in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of your ministry.
4:6 Porque yo ya estoy para ser ofrecido, y el tiempo de mi partida está cercano.
4:6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
4:7 He peleado la buena batalla, he acabado la carrera, he guardado la fe.
4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
4:8 Por lo demás, me está guardada la corona de justicia, la cual me dará el Señor, juez justo, en aquel día; y no sólo á mí, sino también á todos los que aman su venida.
4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
4:9 Procura venir presto á mí:
4:9 Do your diligence to come shortly unto me:
4:10 Porque Demas me ha desamparado, amando este siglo, y se ha ido á Tesalónica; Crescente á Galacia, Tito á Dalmacia.
4:10 For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
4:11 Lucas solo está conmigo. Toma á Marcos, y traéle contigo; porque me es útil para el ministerio.
4:11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with you: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
4:12 A Tychîco envié á Efeso.
4:12 And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.
4:13 Trae, cuando vinieres, el capote que dejé en Troas en casa de Carpo: y los libros, mayormente los pergaminos.
4:13 The coat that I left at Troas with Carpus, when you come, bring with you, and the books, but especially the parchments.
4:14 Alejandro el calderero me ha causado muchos males: el Señor le pague conforme á sus hechos.
4:14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
4:15 Guárdate tú también de él; que en grande manera ha resistido á nuestras palabras.
4:15 Of whom be you ware also; for he has greatly withstood our words. (o. logos)
4:16 En mi primera defensa ninguno me ayudó, antes me desampararon todos: no les sea imputado.
4:16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
4:17 Mas el Señor me ayudó, y me esforzó para que por mí fuese cumplida la predicación, y todos los Gentiles oyesen; y fuí librado de la boca del león.
4:17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
4:18 Y el Señor me librará de toda obra mala, y me preservará para su reino celestial: al cual sea gloria por los siglos de los siglos. Amén.
4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
4:19 Saluda á Prisca y á Aquila, y á la casa de Onesíforo.
4:19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.
4:20 Erasto se quedó en Corinto; y á Trófimo dejé en Mileto enfermo.
4:20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.
4:21 Procura venir antes del invierno. Eubulo te saluda, y Pudente, y Lino, y Claudia, y todos los hermanos.
4:21 Do your diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greets you, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.
4:22 El Señor Jesucristo sea con tu espíritu. La gracia sea con vosotros. Amén. epístola á Timoteo, el cual fué el primer obispo ordenado en Efeso, fué escrita de Roma, cuando Pablo fué presentado la segunda vez á César Nerón.
4:22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. (o. pneuma) Grace be with you. Amen.
