17:1 Y A SUS discípulos dice: Imposible es que no vengan escándalos; mas ¡ay de aquél por quien vienen!

17:1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!

17:2 Mejor le fuera, si le pusiesen al cuello una piedra de molino, y le lanzasen en el mar, que escandalizar á uno de estos pequeñitos.

17:2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

17:3 Mirad por vosotros: si pecare contra ti tu hermano, repréndele; y si se arrepintiere, perdónale.

17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If your brother trespass against you, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

17:4 Y si siete veces al día pecare contra ti, y siete veces al día se volviere á ti, diciendo, pésame, perdónale.

17:4 And if he trespass against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day return to you, saying, I repent; you shall forgive him.

17:5 Y dijeron los apóstoles al Señor: Auméntanos la fe.

17:5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

17:6 Entonces el Señor dijo: Si tuvieseis fe como un grano de mostaza, diréis á este sicómoro: Desarráigate, y plántate en el mar; y os obedecerá.

17:6 And the Lord said, If all of you had faith as a grain of mustard seed, all of you might say unto this sycamine tree, Be you plucked up by the root, and be you planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

17:7 ¿Y quién de vosotros tiene un siervo que ara ó apacienta, que vuelto del campo le diga luego: Pasa, siéntate á la mesa?

17:7 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he has come from the field, Go and sit down to food?

17:8 ¿No le dice antes: Adereza qué cene, y arremángate, y sírveme hasta que haya comido y bebido; y después de esto, come tú y bebe?

17:8 And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird yourself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward you shall eat and drink?

17:9 ¿Da gracias al siervo porque hizo lo que le había sido mandado? Pienso que no.

17:9 Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I I think not not.

17:10 Así también vosotros, cuando hubiereis hecho todo lo que os es mandado, decid: Siervos inútiles somos, porque lo que debíamos hacer, hicimos.

17:10 So likewise all of you, when all of you shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are useless servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

17:11 Y aconteció que yendo él á Jerusalem, pasaba por medio de Samaria y de Galilea.

17:11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

17:12 Y entrando en una aldea, viniéronle al encuentro diez hombres leprosos, los cuales se pararon de lejos,

17:12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood far off:

17:13 Y alzaron la voz, diciendo: Jesús, Maestro, ten misericordia de nosotros.

17:13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

17:14 Y como él los vió, les dijo: Id, mostraos á los sacerdotes. Y aconteció, que yendo ellos, fueron limpios.

17:14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

17:15 Entonces uno de ellos, como se vió que estaba limpio, volvió, glorificando á Dios á gran voz;

17:15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

17:16 Y derribóse sobre el rostro á sus pies, dándole gracias: y éste era Samaritano.

17:16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

17:17 Y respondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¿No son diez los que fueron limpios? ¿Y los nueve dónde están?

17:17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

17:18 ¿No hubo quien volviese y diese gloria á Dios sino este extranjero?

17:18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

17:19 Y díjole: Levántate, vete; tu fe te ha salvado.

17:19 And he said unto him, Arise, go your way: your faith has made you whole.

17:20 Y preguntado por los Fariseos, cuándo había de venir el reino de Dios, les respondió y dijo: El reino de Dios no vendrá con advertencia;

17:20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God comes not with observation:

17:21 Ni dirán: Helo aquí, ó helo allí: porque he aquí el reino de Dios entre vosotros está.

17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

17:22 Y dijo á sus discípulos: Tiempo vendrá, cuando desearéis ver uno de los días del Hijo del hombre, y no lo veréis.

17:22 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when all of you shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and all of you shall not see it.

17:23 Y os dirán: Helo aquí, ó helo allí. No vayáis, ni sigáis.

17:23 And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.

17:24 Porque como el relámpago, relampagueando desde una parte de debajo del cielo, resplandece hasta la otra debajo del cielo, así también será el Hijo del hombre en su día.

17:24 For as the lightning, that lightens out of the one part under heaven, shines unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.

17:25 Mas primero es necesario que padezca mucho, y sea reprobado de esta generación.

17:25 But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.

17:26 Y como fué en los días de Noé, así también será en los días del Hijo del hombre.

17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

17:27 Comían, bebían, los hombres tomaban mujeres, y las mujeres maridos, hasta el día que entró Noé en el arca; y vino el diluvio, y destruyó á todos.

17:27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

17:28 Asimismo también como fué en los días de Lot; comían, bebían, compraban, vendían, plantaban, edificaban;

17:28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;

17:29 Mas el día que Lot salió de Sodoma, llovió del cielo fuego y azufre, y destruyó á todos:

17:29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

17:30 Como esto será el día en que el Hijo del hombre se manifestará.

17:30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

17:31 En aquel día, el que estuviere en el terrado, y sus alhajas en casa, no descienda á tomarlas: y el que en el campo, asimismo no vuelva atrás.

17:31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

17:32 Acordaos de la mujer de Lot.

17:32 Remember Lot's wife.

17:33 Cualquiera que procurare salvar su vida, la perderá; y cualquiera que la perdiere, la salvará.

17:33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

17:34 Os digo que en aquella noche estarán dos en una cama; el uno será tomado, y el otro será dejado.

17:34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

17:35 Dos mujeres estarán moliendo juntas: la una será tomada, y la otra dejada.

17:35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

17:36 Dos estarán en el campo; el uno será tomado, y el otro dejado.

17:36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

17:37 Y respondiendo, le dicen: ¿Dónde, Señor? Y él les dijo: Donde estuviere el cuerpo, allá se juntarán también las águilas.

17:37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Where ever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

18:1 Y PROPUSOLES también una parábola sobre que es necesario orar siempre, y no desmayar,

18:1 And he spoke a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

18:2 Diciendo: Había un juez en una ciudad, el cual ni temía á Dios, ni respetaba á hombre.

18:2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:

18:3 Había también en aquella ciudad una viuda, la cual venía á él diciendo: Hazme justicia de mi adversario.

18:3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

18:4 Pero él no quiso por algún tiempo; mas después de esto dijo dentro de sí: Aunque ni temo á Dios, ni tengo respeto á hombre,

18:4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

18:5 Todavía, porque esta viuda me es molesta, le haré justicia, porque al fin no venga y me muela.

18:5 Yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

18:6 Y dijo el Señor: Oid lo que dice el juez injusto.

18:6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says.

18:7 ¿Y Dios no hará justicia á sus escogidos, que claman á él día y noche, aunque sea longánime acerca de ellos?

18:7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

18:8 Os digo que los defenderá presto. Empero cuando el Hijo del hombre viniere, ¿hallará fe en la tierra?

18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth?

18:9 Y dijo también á unos que confiaban de sí como justos, y menospreciaban á los otros, esta parábola:

18:9 And he spoke this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

18:10 Dos hombres subieron al templo á orar: el uno Fariseo, el otro publicano.

18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

18:11 El Fariseo, en pie, oraba consigo de esta manera: Dios, te doy gracias, que no soy como los otros hombres, ladrones, injustos, adúlteros, ni aun como este publicano;

18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you, that I am not as other men are, extortionists, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

18:12 Ayuno dos veces á la semana, doy diezmos de todo lo que poseo.

18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

18:13 Mas el publicano estando lejos no quería ni aun alzar los ojos al cielo, sino que hería su pecho, diciendo: Dios, sé propició á mí pecador.

18:13 And the publican, standing far off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but stroke upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

18:14 Os digo que éste descendió á su casa justificado antes que el otro; porque cualquiera que se ensalza, será humillado; y el que se humilla, será ensalzado.

18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalts himself shall be brought low; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

18:15 Y traían á él los niños para que los tocase; lo cual viendo los discípulos les reñían.

18:15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

18:16 Mas Jesús llamándolos, dijo: Dejad los niños venir á mí, y no los impidáis; porque de tales es el reino de Dios.

18:16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

18:17 De cierto os digo, que cualquiera que no recibiere el reino de Dios como un niño, no entrará en él.

18:17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

18:18 Y preguntóle un príncipe, diciendo: Maestro bueno, ¿qué haré para poseer la vida eterna?

18:18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

18:19 Y Jesús le dijo: ¿Por qué me llamas bueno? ninguno hay bueno sino sólo Dios.

18:19 And Jesus said unto him, Why call you me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

18:20 Los mandamientos sabes: No matarás: No adulterarás: No hurtarás: No dirás falso testimonio: Honra á tu padre y á tu madre.

18:20 You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour your father and your mother.

18:21 Y él dijo: Todas estas cosas he guardado desde mi juventud.

18:21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.

18:22 Y Jesús, oído esto, le dijo: Aun te falta una cosa: vende todo lo que tienes, y da á los pobres, y tendrás tesoro en el cielo; y ven, sígueme.

18:22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lack you one thing: sell all that you have, and distribute unto the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

18:23 Entonces él, oídas estas cosas, se puso muy triste, porque era muy rico.

18:23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.

18:24 Y viendo Jesús que se había entristecido mucho, dijo: ¡Cuán dificultosamente entrarán en el reino de Dios los que tienen riquezas!

18:24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

18:25 Porque más fácil cosa es entrar un camello por el ojo de una aguja, que un rico entrar en el reino de Dios.

18:25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

18:26 Y los que lo oían, dijeron: ¿Y quién podrá ser salvo?

18:26 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?

18:27 Y él les dijo: Lo que es imposible para con los hombres, posible es para Dios.

18:27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

18:28 Entonces Pedro dijo: He aquí, nosotros hemos dejado las posesiones nuestras, y te hemos seguido.

18:28 Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed you.

18:29 Y él les dijo: De cierto os digo, que nadie hay que haya dejado casa, padres, ó hermanos, ó mujer, ó hijos, por el reino de Dios,

18:29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that has left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,

18:30 Que no haya de recibir mucho más en este tiempo, y en el siglo venidero la vida eterna.

18:30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

18:31 Y Jesús, tomando á los doce, les dijo: He aquí subimos á Jerusalem, y serán cumplidas todas las cosas que fueron escritas por los profetas, del Hijo del hombre.

18:31 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

18:32 Porque será entregado á las gentes, y será escarnecido, é injuriado, y escupido.

18:32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully pleaded, and spitted on:

18:33 Y después que le hubieren azotado, le matarán: mas al tercer día resucitará.

18:33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.

18:34 Pero ellos nada de estas cosas entendían, y esta palabra les era encubierta, y no entendían lo que se decía.

18:34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying (o. rhema) was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.

18:35 Y aconteció que acercándose él á Jericó, un ciego estaba sentado junto al camino mendigando;

18:35 And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:

18:36 El cual como oyó la gente que pasaba, preguntó qué era aquello.

18:36 And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.

18:37 Y dijéronle que pasaba Jesús Nazareno.

18:37 And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passes by.

18:38 Entonces dió voces, diciendo: Jesús, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí.

18:38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me.

18:39 Y los que iban delante, le reñían que callase; mas él clamaba mucho más: Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí.

18:39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, You son of David, have mercy on me.

18:40 Jesús entonces parándose, mandó traerle á sí: y como él llegó, le preguntó,

18:40 And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,

18:41 Diciendo: ¿Qué quieres que te haga? Y él dijo: Señor, que vea.

18:41 Saying, What will you that I shall do unto you? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.

18:42 Y Jesús le dijo: Ve, tu fe te ha hecho salvo.

18:42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive your sight: your faith has saved you.

18:43 Y luego vió, y le seguía, glorificando á Dios: y todo el pueblo como lo vió, dió á Dios alabanza.

18:43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.

19:1 Y HABIENDO entrado Jesús, iba pasando por Jericó;

19:1 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.

19:2 Y he aquí un varón llamado Zaqueo, el cual era el principal de los publicanos, y era rico;

19:2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.

19:3 Y procuraba ver á Jesús quién fuese; mas no podía á causa de la multitud, porque era pequeño de estatura.

19:3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.

19:4 Y corriendo delante, subióse á un árbol sicómoro para verle; porque había de pasar por allí.

19:4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.

19:5 Y como vino á aquel lugar Jesús, mirando, le vió, y díjole: Zaqueo, date priesa, desciende, porque hoy es necesario que pose en tu casa.

19:5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; in order to day I must abide at your house.

19:6 Entonces él descendió apriesa, y le recibió gozoso.

19:6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.

19:7 Y viendo esto, todos murmuraban, diciendo que había entrado á posar con un hombre pecador.

19:7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.

19:8 Entonces Zaqueo, puesto en pie, dijo al Señor: He aquí, Señor, la mitad de mis bienes doy á los pobres; y si en algo he defraudado á alguno, lo vuelvo con el cuatro tanto.

19:8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

19:9 Y Jesús le dijo: Hoy ha venido la salvación á esta casa; por cuanto él también es hijo de Abraham.

19:9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

19:10 Porque el Hijo del hombre vino á buscar y á salvar lo que se había perdido.

19:10 For the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.

19:11 Y oyendo ellos estas cosas, prosiguió Jesús y dijo una parábola, por cuanto estaba cerca de Jerusalem, y porque pensaban que luego había de ser manifestado el reino de Dios.

19:11 And as they heard these things, he added and spoke a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.

19:12 Dijo pues: Un hombre noble partió á una provincia lejos, para tomar para sí un reino, y volver.

19:12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

19:13 Mas llamados diez siervos suyos, les dió diez minas, y díjoles: Negociad entre tanto que vengo.

19:13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

19:14 Empero sus ciudadanos le aborrecían, y enviaron tras de él una embajada, diciendo: No queremos que éste reine sobre nosotros.

19:14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.

19:15 Y aconteció, que vuelto él, habiendo tomado el reino, mandó llamar á sí á aquellos siervos á los cuales había dado el dinero, para saber lo que había negociado cada uno.

19:15 And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.

19:16 Y vino el primero, diciendo: Señor, tu mina ha ganado diez minas.

19:16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, your pound has gained ten pounds.

19:17 Y él le dice: Está bien, buen siervo; pues que en lo poco has sido fiel, tendrás potestad sobre diez ciudades.

19:17 And he said unto him, Well, you good servant: because you have been faithful in a very little, have you authority over ten cities.

19:18 Y vino otro, diciendo: Señor, tu mina ha hecho cinco minas.

19:18 And the second came, saying, Lord, your pound has gained five pounds.

19:19 Y también á éste dijo: Tú también sé sobre cinco ciudades.

19:19 And he said likewise to him, Be you also over five cities.

19:20 Y vino otro, diciendo: Señor, he aquí tu mina, la cual he tenido guardada en un pañizuelo:

19:20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is your pound, which I have kept laid up in a cloth:

19:21 Porque tuve miedo de ti, que eres hombre recio; tomas lo que no pusiste, y siegas lo que no sembraste.

19:21 For I feared you, because you are an austere man: you take up that you layed not down, and reap that you did not sow.

19:22 Entonces él le dijo: Mal siervo, de tu boca te juzgo. Sabías que yo era hombre recio, que tomo lo que no puse, y que siego lo que no sembré;

19:22 And he says unto him, Out of yours own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:

19:23 ¿Por qué, no diste mi dinero al banco, y yo viniendo lo demandara con el logro?

19:23 Wherefore then gave not you my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with interest?

19:24 Y dijo á los que estaban presentes: Quitadle la mina, y dadla al que tiene las diez minas.

19:24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that has ten pounds.

19:25 Y ellos le dijeron: Señor, tiene diez minas.

19:25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he has ten pounds.)

19:26 Pues yo os digo que á cualquiera que tuviere, le será dado; mas al que no tuviere, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.

19:26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which has shall be given; and from him that has not, even that he has shall be taken away from him.

19:27 Y también á aquellos mis enemigos que no querían que yo reinase sobre ellos, traedlos acá, y degolladlos delante de mí.

19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring here, and slay them before me.

19:28 Y dicho esto, iba delante subiendo á Jerusalem.

19:28 And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.

19:29 Y aconteció, que llegando cerca de Bethfagé, y de Bethania, al monte que se llama de las Olivas, envió dos de sus discípulos,

19:29 And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

19:30 Diciendo: Id á la aldea de enfrente; en la cual como entrareis, hallaréis un pollino atado, en el que ningún hombre se ha sentado jamás; desatadlo, y traedlo.

19:30 Saying, Go all of you into the village opposite to you; in the which at your entering all of you shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him here.

19:31 Y si alguien os preguntare, ¿por qué lo desatáis? le responderéis así: Porque el Señor lo ha menester.

19:31 And if any man ask you, Why do all of you loose him? thus shall all of you say unto him, Because the Lord has need of him.

19:32 Y fueron los que habían sido enviados, y hallaron como les dijo.

19:32 And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.

19:33 Y desatando ellos el pollino, sus dueños les dijeron: ¿Por qué desatáis el pollino?

19:33 And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose all of you the colt?

19:34 Y ellos dijeron: Porque el Señor lo ha menester.

19:34 And they said, The Lord has need of him.

19:35 Y trajéronlo á Jesús; y habiéndo echado sus vestidos sobre el pollino, pusieron á Jesús encima.

19:35 And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.

19:36 Y yendo él tendían sus capas por el camino.

19:36 And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.

19:37 Y como llegasen ya cerca de la bajada del monte de las Olivas, toda la multitud de los discípulos, gozándose, comenzaron á alabar á Dios á gran voz por todas las maravillas que habían visto,

19:37 And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;

19:38 Diciendo: ¡Bendito el rey que viene en el nombre del Señor: paz en el cielo, y gloria en lo altísimo!

19:38 Saying, Blessed be the King that comes in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

19:39 Entonces algunos de los Fariseos de la compañía, le dijeron: Maestro, reprende á tus discípulos.

19:39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke your disciples.

19:40 Y él respondiendo, les dijo: Os digo que si éstos callaren, las piedras clamarán.

19:40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

19:41 Y como llegó cerca viendo la ciudad, lloró sobre ella,

19:41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

19:42 Diciendo: ¡Oh si también tú conocieses, á lo menos en este tu día, lo que toca á tu paz! mas ahora está encubierto de tus ojos.

19:42 Saying, If you had known, even you, at least in this your day, the things which belong unto your peace! but now they are hid from yours eyes.

19:43 Porque vendrán días sobre ti, que tus enemigos te cercarán con baluarte, y te pondrán cerco, y de todas partes te pondrán en estrecho,

19:43 For the days shall come upon you, that yours enemies shall cast a trench about you, and compass you round, and keep you in on every side,

19:44 Y te derribarán á tierra, y á tus hijos dentro de ti; y no dejarán sobre ti piedra sobre piedra; por cuanto no conociste el tiempo de tu visitación.

19:44 And shall lay you even with the ground, and your children within you; and they shall not leave in you one stone upon another; because you knew not the time of your visitation.

19:45 Y entrando en el templo, comenzó á echar fuera á todos los que vendían y compraban en él.

19:45 And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;

19:46 Diciéndoles: Escrito está: Mi casa, casa de oración es; mas vosotros la habéis hecho cueva de ladrones.

19:46 Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but all of you have made it a den of thieves.

19:47 Y enseñaba cada día en el templo; mas los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los escribas, y los principales del pueblo procuraban matarle.

19:47 And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,

19:48 Y no hallaban qué hacerle, porque todo el pueblo estaba suspenso oyéndole.

19:48 And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

20:1 Y ACONTECIO un día, que enseñando él al pueblo en el templo, y anunciando el evangelio, llegáronse los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas, con los ancianos;

20:1 And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders,

20:2 Y le hablaron, diciendo: Dinos: ¿con qué potestad haces estas cosas? ¿ó quién es el que te ha dado esta potestad?

20:2 And spoke unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority do you these things? or who is he that gave you this authority?

20:3 Respondiendo entonces Jesús, les dijo: Os preguntaré yo también una palabra; respondedme:

20:3 And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; (o. logos) and answer me:

20:4 El bautismo de Juan, ¿era del cielo, ó de los hombres?

20:4 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?

20:5 Mas ellos pensaban dentro de sí, diciendo: Si dijéremos, del cielo, dirá: ¿Por qué, pues, no le creísteis?

20:5 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed all of you him not?

20:6 Y si dijéremos, de los hombres, todo el pueblo nos apedreará: porque están ciertos que Juan era profeta.

20:6 But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.

20:7 Y respondieron que no sabían de dónde.

20:7 And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was.

20:8 Entonces Jesús les dijo: Ni yo os digo con qué potestad hago estas cosas.

20:8 And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

20:9 Y comenzó á decir al pueblo esta parábola: Un hombre plantó una viña, y arrendóla á labradores, y se ausentó por mucho tiempo.

20:9 Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.

20:10 Y al tiempo, envió un siervo á los labradores, para que le diesen del fruto de la viña; mas los labradores le hirieron, y enviaron vacío.

20:10 And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.

20:11 Y volvió á enviar otro siervo; mas ellos á éste también, herido y afrentado, le enviaron vacío.

20:11 And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and pleaded him shamefully, and sent him away empty.

20:12 Y volvió á enviar al tercer siervo; mas ellos también á éste echaron herido.

20:12 And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out.

20:13 Entonces el señor de la viña dijo: ¿Qué haré? Enviaré mi hijo amado: quizás cuando á éste vieren, tendrán respeto.

20:13 Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him.

20:14 Mas los labradores, viéndole, pensaron entre sí, diciendo: Este es el heredero; venid, matémosle para que la heredad sea nuestra.

20:14 But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.

20:15 Y echáronle fuera de la viña, y le mataron. ¿Qué pues, les hará el señor de la viña?

20:15 So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them?

20:16 Vendrá, y destruirá á estos labradores, y dará su viña á otros. Y como ellos lo oyeron, dijeron: ¡Dios nos libre!

20:16 He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.

20:17 Mas él mirándolos, dice: ¿Qué pues es lo que está escrito: La piedra que condenaron los edificadores, Esta fué por cabeza de esquina?

20:17 And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?

20:18 Cualquiera que cayere sobre aquella piedra, será quebrantado; mas sobre el que la piedra cayere, le desmenuzará.

20:18 Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

20:19 Y procuraban los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas echarle mano en aquella hora, porque entendieron que contra ellos había dicho esta parábola: mas temieron al pueblo.

20:19 And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.

20:20 Y acechándole enviaron espías que se simulasen justos, para sorprenderle en palabras, para que le entregasen al principado y á la potestad del presidente.

20:20 And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, (o. logos) that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.

20:21 Los cuales le preguntaron, diciendo: Maestro, sabemos que dices y enseñas bien, y que no tienes respeto á persona; antes enseñas el camino de Dios con verdad.

20:21 And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that you says and teach rightly, neither accept you the person of any, but teach the way of God truly:

20:22 ¿Nos es lícito dar tributo á César, ó no?

20:22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?

20:23 Mas él, entendiendo la astucia de ellos, les dijo: ¿Por qué me tentáis?

20:23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt all of you me?

20:24 Mostradme la moneda. ¿De quién tiene la imagen y la inscripción? Y respondiendo dijeron: De César.

20:24 Show me a penny. Whose image and superscription has it? They answered and said, Caesar's.

20:25 Entonces les dijo: Pues dad á César lo que es de César; y lo que es de Dios, á Dios.

20:25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.

20:26 Y no pudieron reprender sus palabras delante del pueblo: antes maravillados de su respuesta, callaron.

20:26 And they could not take hold of his words (o. rhema) before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.

20:27 Y llegándose unos de los Saduceos, los cuales niegan haber resurrección, le preguntaron,

20:27 Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,

20:28 Diciendo: Maestro, Moisés nos escribió: Si el hermano de alguno muriere teniendo mujer, y muriere sin hijos, que su hermano tome la mujer, y levante simiente á su hermano.

20:28 Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

20:29 Fueron, pues, siete hermanos: y el primero tomó mujer, y murió sin hijos.

20:29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.

20:30 Y la tomó el segundo, el cual también murió sin hijos.

20:30 And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.

20:31 Y la tomó el tercero: asimismo también todos siete: y muerieron sin dejar prole.

20:31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.

20:32 Y á la postre de todos murió también la mujer.

20:32 Last of all the woman died also.

20:33 En la resurrección, pues, ¿mujer de cuál de ellos será? porque los siete la tuvieron por mujer.

20:33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.

20:34 Entonces respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Los hijos de este siglo se casan, y son dados en casamiento:

20:34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:

20:35 Mas los que fueren tenidos por dignos de aquel siglo y de la resurrección de los muertos, ni se casan, ni son dados en casamiento:

20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

20:36 Porque no pueden ya más morir: porque son iguales á los ángeles, y son hijos de Dios, cuando son hijos de la resurrección.

20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

20:37 Y que los muertos hayan de resucitar, aun Moisés lo enseñó en el pasaje de la zarza, cuando llama al Señor: Dios de Abraham, y Dios de Isaac, y Dios de Jacob.

20:37 Now that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he calls the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.

20:38 Porque Dios no es Dios de muertos, mas de vivos: porque todos viven á él.

20:38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

20:39 Y respondiéndole unos de los escribas, dijeron: Maestro, bien has dicho.

20:39 Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, you have well said.

20:40 Y no osaron más preguntarle algo.

20:40 And after that they durst not ask him any question at all.

20:41 Y él les dijo: ¿Cómo dicen que el Cristo es hijo de David?

20:41 And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son?

20:42 Y el mismo David dice en el libro de los Salmos: Dijo el Señor á mi Señor: Siéntate á mi diestra,

20:42 And David himself says in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit you on my right hand,

20:43 Entre tanto que pongo tus enemigos por estrado de tus pies.

20:43 Till I make yours enemies your footstool.

20:44 Así que David le llama Señor: ¿cómo pues es su hijo?

20:44 David therefore calls him Lord, how is he then his son?

20:45 Y oyéndole todo el pueblo, dijo á sus discípulos:

20:45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,

20:46 Guardaos de los escribas, que quieren andar con ropas largas, y aman las salutaciones en las plazas, y las primeras sillas en las sinagogas, y los primeros asientos en las cenas;

20:46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

20:47 Que devoran las casas de las viudas, poniendo por pretexto la larga oración: éstos recibirán mayor condenación.

20:47 Which devour widows' houses, and for a show make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

21:1 Y MIRANDO, vió á los ricos que echaban sus ofrendas en el gazofilacio.

21:1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.

21:2 Y vió también una viuda pobrecilla, que echaba allí dos blancas.

21:2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

21:3 Y dijo: De verdad os digo, que esta pobre viuda echó más que todos:

21:3 And he said, Truthfully I say unto you, that this poor widow has cast in more than they all:

21:4 Porque todos estos, de lo que les sobra echaron para las ofrendas de Dios; mas ésta de su pobreza echó todo el sustento que tenía.

21:4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her destitution has cast in all the living that she had.

21:5 Y á unos que decían del templo, que estaba adornado de hermosas piedras y dones, dijo:

21:5 And as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,

21:6 Estas cosas que veis, días vendrán que no quedará piedra sobre piedra que no sea destruída.

21:6 As for these things which all of you behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

21:7 Y le preguntaron, diciendo: Maestro, ¿cuándo será esto? ¿y qué señal habrá cuando estas cosas hayan de comenzar á ser hechas?

21:7 And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?

21:8 El entonces dijo: Mirad, no seáis engañados; porque vendrán muchos en mi nombre, diciendo: Yo soy; y, el tiempo está cerca: por tanto, no vayáis en pos de ellos.

21:8 And he said, Take heed that all of you be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draws near: go all of you not therefore after them.

21:9 Empero cuando oyereis guerras y sediciones, no os espantéis; porque es necesario que estas cosas acontezcan primero: mas no luego será el fin.

21:9 But when all of you shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

21:10 Entonces les dijo: Se levantará gente contra gente, y reino contra reino;

21:10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

21:11 Y habrá grandes terremotos, y en varios lugares hambres y pestilencias: y habrá espantos y grandes señales del cielo.

21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

21:12 Mas antes de todas estas cosas os echarán mano, y perseguirán, entregándoos á las sinagogas y á las cárceles, siendo llevados á los reyes y á los gobernadores por causa de mi nombre.

21:12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

21:13 Y os será para testimonio.

21:13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.

21:14 Poned pues en vuestros corazones no pensar antes cómo habéis de responder:

21:14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what all of you shall answer:

21:15 Porque yo os daré boca y sabiduría, á la cual no podrán resistir ni contradecir todos los que se os opondrán.

21:15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

21:16 Mas seréis entregados aun de vuestros padres, y hermanos, y parientes, y amigos; y matarán á algunos de vosotros.

21:16 And all of you shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

21:17 Y seréis aborrecidos de todos por causa de mi nombre.

21:17 And all of you shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.

21:18 Mas un pelo de vuestra cabeza no perecerá.

21:18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.

21:19 En vuestra paciencia poseeréis vuestras almas.

21:19 In your patience possess all of you your souls.

21:20 Y cuando viereis á Jerusalem cercada de ejércitos, sabed entonces que su destrucción ha llegado.

21:20 And when all of you shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

21:21 Entonces los que estuvieren en Judea, huyan á los montes; y los que en medio de ella, váyanse; y los que estén en los campos, no entren en ella.

21:21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter therein.

21:22 Porque estos son días de venganza: para que se cumplan todas las cosas que están escritas.

21:22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

21:23 Mas ¡ay de las preñadas, y de las que crían en aquellos días! porque habrá apuro grande sobre la tierra é ira en este pueblo.

21:23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

21:24 Y caerán á filo de espada, y serán llevados cautivos á todas las naciones: y Jerusalem será hollada de las gentes, hasta que los tiempos de las gentes sean cumplidos.

21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

21:25 Entonces habrá señales en el sol, y en la luna, y en las estrellas; y en la tierra angustia de gentes por la confusión del sonido de la mar y de las ondas:

21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

21:26 Secándose los hombres á causa del temor y expectación de las cosas que sobrevendrán á la redondez de la tierra: porque las virtudes de los cielos serán conmovidas.

21:26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

21:27 Y entonces verán al Hijo del hombre, que vendrá en una nube con potestad y majestad grande.

21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

21:28 Y cuando estas cosas comenzaren á hacerse, mirad, y levantad vuestras cabezas, porque vuestra redención está cerca.

21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws nigh.

21:29 Y díjoles una parábola: Mirad la higuera y todos los árboles:

21:29 And he spoke to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;

21:30 Cuando ya brotan, viéndolo, de vosotros mismos entendéis que el verano está ya cerca.

21:30 When they now shoot forth, all of you see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.

21:31 Así también vosotros, cuando viereis hacerse estas cosas, entended que está cerca el reino de Dios.

21:31 So likewise all of you, when all of you see these things come to pass, know all of you that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

21:32 De cierto os digo, que no pasará esta generación hasta que todo sea hecho.

21:32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

21:33 El cielo y la tierra pasarán; mas mis palabras no pasarán.

21:33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words (o. logos) shall not pass away.

21:34 Y mirad por vosotros, que vuestros corazones no sean cargados de glotonería y embriaguez, y de los cuidados de esta vida, y venga de repente sobre vosotros aquel día.

21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with worldly excess, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unexpectedly.

21:35 Porque como un lazo vendrá sobre todos los que habitan sobre la faz de toda la tierra.

21:35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

21:36 Velad pues, orando en todo tiempo, que seáis tenidos por dignos de evitar todas estas cosas que han de venir, y de estar en pie delante del Hijo del hombre.

21:36 Watch all of you therefore, and pray always, that all of you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

21:37 Y enseñaba de día en el templo; y de noche saliendo, estábase en el monte que se llama de las Olivas.

21:37 And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

21:38 Y todo el pueblo venía á él por la mañana, para oirle en el templo.

21:38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, in order to hear him.

22:1 Y ESTABA cerca el día de la fiesta de los ázimos, que se llama la Pascua.

22:1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.

22:2 Y los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas buscaban cómo le matarían; mas tenían miedo del pueblo.

22:2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.

22:3 Y entró Satanás en Judas, por sobrenombre Iscariote, el cual era uno del número de los doce;

22:3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

22:4 Y fué, y habló con los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y con los magistrados, de cómo se lo entregaría.

22:4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.

22:5 Los cuales se holgaron, y concertaron de darle dinero.

22:5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.

22:6 Y prometió, y buscaba oportunidad para entregarle á ellos sin bulla.

22:6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

22:7 Y vino el día de los ázimos, en el cual era necesario matar la pascua.

22:7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.

22:8 Y envió á Pedro y á Juan, diciendo: Id, aparejadnos la pascua para que comamos.

22:8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.

22:9 Y ellos le dijeron: ¿Dónde quieres que aparejemos?

22:9 And they said unto him, Where will you that we prepare?

22:10 Y él les dijo: He aquí cuando entrareis en la ciudad, os encontrará un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua: seguidle hasta la casa donde entrare,

22:10 And he said unto them, Behold, when all of you are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he enters in.

22:11 Y decid al padre de la familia de la casa: El Maestro te dice: ¿Dónde está el aposento donde tengo de comer la pascua con mis discípulos?

22:11 And all of you shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master says unto you, Where is the guest room, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

22:12 Entonces él os mostrará un gran cenáculo aderezado; aparejad allí.

22:12 And he shall show you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.

22:13 Fueron pues, y hallaron como les había dicho; y aparejaron la pascua.

22:13 And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

22:14 Y como fué hora, sentóse á la mesa, y con él los apóstoles.

22:14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.

22:15 Y les dijo: En gran manera he deseado comer con vosotros esta pascua antes que padezca;

22:15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

22:16 Porque os digo que no comeré más de ella, hasta que se cumpla en el reino de Dios.

22:16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

22:17 Y tomando el vaso, habiendo dado gracias, dijo: Tomad esto, y partidlo entre vosotros;

22:17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:

22:18 Porque os digo, que no beberé más del fruto de la vid, hasta que el reino de Dios venga.

22:18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

22:19 Y tomando el pan, habiendo dado gracias, partió, y les dió, diciendo: Esto es mi cuerpo, que por vosotros es dado: haced esto en memoria de mí.

22:19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

22:20 Asimismo también el vaso, después que hubo cenado, diciendo: Este vaso es el nuevo pacto en mi sangre, que por vosotros se derrama.

22:20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

22:21 Con todo eso, he aquí la mano del que me entrega, conmigo en la mesa.

22:21 But, behold, the hand of him that betrays me is with me on the table.

22:22 Y á la verdad el Hijo del hombre va, según lo que está determinado; empero ¡ay de aquél hombre por el cual es entregado!

22:22 And truly the Son of man goes, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!

22:23 Ellos entonces comenzaron á preguntar entre sí, cuál de ellos sería el que había de hacer esto.

22:23 And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

22:24 Y hubo entre ellos una contienda, quién de ellos parecía ser el mayor.

22:24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.

22:25 Entonces él les dijo: Los reyes de las gentes se enseñorean de ellas; y los que sobre ellas tienen potestad, son llamados bienhechores:

22:25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.

22:26 Mas vosotros, no así: antes el que es mayor entre vosotros, sea como el más mozo; y el que es príncipe, como el que sirve.

22:26 But all of you shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that does serve.

22:27 Porque, ¿cuál es mayor, el que se sienta á la mesa, ó el que sirve? ¿No es el que se sienta á la mesa? Y yo soy entre vosotros como el que sirve.

22:27 For whether is greater, he that sits at food, or he that serves? is not he that sits at food? but I am among you as he that serves.

22:28 Empero vosotros sois los que habéis permanecido conmigo en mis tentaciones:

22:28 All of you are they which have continued with me in my temptations.

22:29 Yo pues os ordeno un reino, como mi Padre me lo ordenó á mí,

22:29 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father has appointed unto me;

22:30 Para que comáis y bebáis en mi mesa en mi reino, y os sentéis sobre tronos juzgando á las doce tribus de Israel.

22:30 That all of you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

22:31 Dijo también el Señor: Simón, Simón, he aquí Satanás os ha pedido para zarandaros como á trigo;

22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

22:32 Mas yo he rogado por ti que tu fe no falte: y tú, una vez vuelto, confirma á tus hermanos.

22:32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not: and when you are converted, strengthen your brethren.

22:33 Y él le dijo: Señor, pronto estoy á ir contigo aun á cárcel y á muerte.

22:33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with you, both into prison, and to death.

22:34 Y él dijo: Pedro, te digo que el gallo no cantará hoy antes que tú niegues tres veces que me conoces.

22:34 And he said, I tell you, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that you shall three times deny that you know me.

22:35 Y á ellos dijo: Cuando os envié sin bolsa, y sin alforja, y sin zapatos, ¿os faltó algo? Y ellos dijeron: Nada.

22:35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and pouch, and shoes, lacked all of you any thing? And they said, Nothing.

22:36 Y les dijo: Pues ahora, el que tiene bolsa, tómela, y también la alforja, y el que no tiene, venda su capa y compre espada.

22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that has a purse, let him take it, and likewise his pouch: and he that has no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

22:37 Porque os digo, que es necesario que se cumpla todavía en mí aquello que está escrito: Y con los malos fué contado: porque lo que está escrito de mí, cumplimiento tiene.

22:37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.

22:38 Entonces ellos dijeron: Señor, he aquí dos espadas. Y él les dijo: Basta.

22:38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

22:39 Y saliendo, se fué, como solía, al monte de las Olivas; y sus discípulos también le siguieron.

22:39 And he came out, and went, as he was known, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.

22:40 Y como llegó á aquel lugar, les dijo: Orad que no entréis en tentación.

22:40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that all of you enter not into temptation.

22:41 Y él se apartó de ellos como un tiro de piedra; y puesto de rodillas oró,

22:41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,

22:42 Diciendo: Padre, si quieres, pasa este vaso de mí; empero no se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya.

22:42 Saying, Father, if you be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but yours, be done.

22:43 Y le apareció un ángel del cielo confortándole.

22:43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

22:44 Y estando en agonía, oraba más intensamente: y fué su sudor como grandes gotas de sangre que caían hasta la tierra.

22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

22:45 Y como se levantó de la oración, y vino á sus discípulos, hallólos durmiendo de tristeza;

22:45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,

22:46 Y les dijo: ¿Por qué dormís? Levantaos, y orad que no entréis en tentación.

22:46 And said unto them, Why sleep all of you? rise and pray, lest all of you enter into temptation.

22:47 Estando él aún hablando, he aquí una turba; y el que se llamaba Judas, uno de los doce, iba delante de ellos; y llegóse á Jesús para besarlo.

22:47 And while he yet spoke, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.

22:48 Entonces Jesús le dijo: Judas, ¿con beso entregas al Hijo del hombre?

22:48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betray you the Son of man with a kiss?

22:49 Y viendo los que estaban con él lo que había de ser, le dijeron: Señor, ¿heriremos á cuchillo?

22:49 When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we strike with the sword?

22:50 Y uno de ellos hirió á un siervo del príncipe de los sacerdotes, y le quitó la oreja derecha.

22:50 And one of them stroke the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

22:51 Entonces respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Dejad hasta aquí. Y tocando su oreja, le sanó.

22:51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer all of you thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

22:52 Y Jesús dijo á los que habían venido á él, los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los magistrados del templo, y los ancianos: ¿Como á ladrón habéis salido con espadas y con palos?

22:52 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be all of you come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?

22:53 Habiendo estado con vosotros cada día en el templo, no extendisteis las manos contra mí; mas ésta es vuestra hora, y la potestad de las tinieblas.

22:53 When I was daily with you in the temple, all of you stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

22:54 Y prendiéndole trajéronle, y metiéronle en casa del príncipe de los sacerdotes. Y Pedro le seguía de lejos.

22:54 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed far off.

22:55 Y habiendo encendido fuego en medio de la sala, y sentándose todos alrededor, se sentó también Pedro entre ellos.

22:55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.

22:56 Y como una criada le vió que estaba sentado al fuego, fijóse en él, y dijo: Y éste con él estaba.

22:56 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.

22:57 Entonces él lo negó, diciendo: Mujer, no le conozco.

22:57 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.

22:58 Y un poco después, viéndole otro, dijo: Y tú de ellos eras. Y Pedro dijo: Hombre, no soy.

22:58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, You are also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.

22:59 Y como una hora pasada otro afirmaba, diciendo: Verdaderamente también éste estaba con él, porque es Galileo.

22:59 And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Truthfully this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean.

22:60 Y Pedro dijo: Hombre, no sé qué dices. Y luego, estando él aún hablando, el gallo cantó.

22:60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what you says. And immediately, while he yet spoke, the cock crew.

22:61 Entonces, vuelto el Señor, miró á Pedro: y Pedro se acordó de la palabra del Señor como le había dicho: Antes que el gallo cante, me negarás tres veces.

22:61 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word (o. logos) of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, you shall deny me three times.

22:62 Y saliendo fuera Pedro, lloró amargamente.

22:62 And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

22:63 Y los hombres que tenían á Jesús, se burlaban de él hiriéndole;

22:63 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and stroke him.

22:64 Y cubriéndole, herían su rostro, y preguntábanle, diciendo: Profetiza quién es el que te hirió.

22:64 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that stroke you?

22:65 Y decían otras muchas cosas injuriándole.

22:65 And many other things blasphemously spoke they against him.

22:66 Y cuando fué de día, se juntaron los ancianos del pueblo, y los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los escribas, y le trajeron á su concilio,

22:66 And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,

22:67 Diciendo: ¿Eres tú el Cristo? dínos lo. Y les dijo: Si os lo dijere, no creeréis;

22:67 Are you the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, all of you will not believe:

22:68 Y también si os preguntare, no me responderéis, ni me soltaréis:

22:68 And if I also ask you, all of you will not answer me, nor let me go.

22:69 Mas después de ahora el Hijo del hombre se asentará á la diestra de la potencia de Dios.

22:69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.

22:70 Y dijeron todos: ¿Luego tú eres Hijo de Dios? Y él les dijo: Vosotros decís que yo soy.

22:70 Then said they all, Are you then the Son of God? And he said unto them, All of you say that I am.

22:71 Entonces ellos dijeron: ¿Qué más testimonio deseamos? porque nosotros lo hemos oído de su boca.

22:71 And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

23:1 LEVANTANDOSE entonces toda la multitud de ellos, lleváronle á Pilato.

23:1 And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.

23:2 Y comenzaron á acusarle, diciendo: A éste hemos hallado que pervierte la nación, y que veda dar tributo á César, diciendo que él es el Cristo, el rey.

23:2 And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.

23:3 Entonces Pilato le preguntó, diciendo: ¿Eres tú el Rey de los Judíos? Y respondiéndo él, dijo: Tú lo dices.

23:3 And Pilate asked him, saying, Are you the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, You says it.

23:4 Y Pilato dijo á los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y á las gentes: Ninguna culpa hallo en este hombre.

23:4 Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.

23:5 Mas ellos porfiaban, diciendo: Alborota al pueblo, enseñando por toda Judea, comenzando desde Galilea hasta aquí.

23:5 And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.

23:6 Entonces Pilato, oyendo de Galilea, preguntó si el hombre era Galileo.

23:6 When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean.

23:7 Y como entendió que era de la jurisdicción de Herodes, le remitió á Herodes, el cual también estaba en Jerusalem en aquellos días.

23:7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.

23:8 Y Herodes, viendo á Jesús, holgóse mucho, porque hacía mucho que deseaba verle; porque había oído de él muchas cosas, y tenía esperanza que le vería hacer alguna señal.

23:8 And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.

23:9 Y le preguntaba con muchas palabras; mas él nada le respondió:

23:9 Then he questioned with him in many words; (o. logos) but he answered him nothing.

23:10 Y estaban los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas acusándole con gran porfía.

23:10 And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.

23:11 Mas Herodes con su corte le menospreció, y escarneció, vistiéndole de una ropa rica; y volvióle á enviar á Pilato.

23:11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nothing, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

23:12 Y fueron hechos amigos entre sí Pilato y Herodes en el mismo día; porque antes eran enemigos entre sí.

23:12 And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.

23:13 Entonces Pilato, convocando los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los magistrados, y el pueblo,

23:13 And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

23:14 Les dijo: Me habéis presentado á éste por hombre que desvía al pueblo: y he aquí, preguntando yo delante de vosotros, no he hallado culpa alguna en este hombre de aquéllas de que le acusáis.

23:14 Said unto them, All of you have brought this man unto me, as one that perverts the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man concerning those things whereof all of you accuse him:

23:15 Y ni aun Herodes; porque os remití á él, y he aquí, ninguna cosa digna de muerte ha hecho.

23:15 No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.

23:16 Le soltaré, pues, castigado.

23:16 I will therefore chastise him, and release him.

23:17 Y tenía necesidad de soltarles uno en cada fiesta.

23:17 (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)

23:18 Mas toda la multitud dió voces á una, diciendo: Quita á éste, y suéltanos á Barrabás:

23:18 And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:

23:19 (El cual había sido echado en la cárcel por una sedición hecha en la ciudad, y una muerte.)

23:19 (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)

23:20 Y hablóles otra vez Pilato, queriendo soltar á Jesús.

23:20 Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spoke again to them.

23:21 Pero ellos volvieron á dar voces, diciendo: Crucifícale, crucifícale.

23:21 But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.

23:22 Y él les dijo la tercera vez: ¿Pues qué mal ha hecho éste? Ninguna culpa de muerte he hallado en él: le castigaré, pues, y le soltaré.

23:22 And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil has he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.

23:23 Mas ellos instaban á grandes voces, pidiendo que fuese crucificado. Y las voces de ellos y de los príncipes de los sacerdotes crecían.

23:23 And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.

23:24 Entonces Pilato juzgó que se hiciese lo que ellos pedían;

23:24 And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.

23:25 Y les soltó á aquél que había sido echado en la cárcel por sedición y una muerte, al cual habían pedido; y entregó á Jesús á la voluntad de ellos.

23:25 And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

23:26 Y llevándole, tomaron á un Simón Cireneo, que venía del campo, y le pusieron encima la cruz para que la llevase tras Jesús.

23:26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.

23:27 Y le seguía una grande multitud de pueblo, y de mujeres, las cuales le lloraban y lamentaban.

23:27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.

23:28 Mas Jesús, vuelto á ellas, les dice: Hijas de Jerusalem, no me lloréis á mí, mas llorad por vosotras mismas, y por vuestros hijos.

23:28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.

23:29 Porque he aquí vendrán días en que dirán: Bienaventuradas las estériles, y los vientres que no engendraron, y los pechos que no criaron.

23:29 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the breast which never gave suck.

23:30 Entonces comenzarán á decir á los montes: Caed sobre nosotros: y á los collados: Cubridnos.

23:30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.

23:31 Porque si en el árbol verde hacen estas cosas, ¿en el seco, qué se hará?

23:31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?

23:32 Y llevaban también con él otros dos, malhechores, á ser muertos.

23:32 And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.

23:33 Y como vinieron al lugar que se llama de la Calavera, le crucificaron allí, y á los malhechores, uno á la derecha, y otro á la izquierda.

23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

23:34 Y Jesús decía: Padre, perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen. Y partiendo sus vestidos, echaron suertes.

23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

23:35 Y el pueblo estaba mirando; y se burlaban de él los príncipes con ellos, diciendo: A otros hizo salvos: sálvese á sí, si éste es el Mesías, el escogido de Dios.

23:35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.

23:36 Escarnecían de él también los soldados, llegándose y presentándole vinagre,

23:36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,

23:37 Y diciendo: Si tú eres el Rey de los Judíos, sálvate á ti mismo.

23:37 And saying, If you be the king of the Jews, save yourself.

23:38 Y había también sobre él un título escrito con letras griegas, y latinas, y hebraicas: ESTE ES EL REY DE LOS JUDIOS.

23:38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

23:39 Y uno de los malhechores que estaban colgados, le injuriaba, diciendo: Si tú eres el Cristo, sálvate á ti mismo y á nosotros.

23:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If you be Christ, save yourself and us.

23:40 Y respondiendo el otro, reprendióle, diciendo: ¿Ni aun tú temes á Dios, estando en la misma condenación?

23:40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Do not you fear God, seeing you are in the same condemnation?

23:41 Y nosotros, á la verdad, justamente padecemos; porque recibimos lo que merecieron nuestros hechos: mas éste ningún mal hizo.

23:41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man has done nothing amiss.

23:42 Y dijo á Jesús: Acuérdate de mí cuando vinieres á tu reino.

23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.

23:43 Entonces Jesús le dijo: De cierto te digo, que hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso.

23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto you, To day shall you be with me in paradise.

23:44 Y cuando era como la hora de sexta, fueron hechas tinieblas sobre toda la tierra hasta la hora de nona.

23:44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

23:45 Y el sol se obscureció: y el velo del templo se rompió por medio.

23:45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.

23:46 Entonces Jesús, clamando á gran voz, dijo: Padre, en tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu. Y habiendo dicho esto, espiró.

23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into your hands I commend my spirit: (o. pneuma) and having said thus, he gave up the spirit.

23:47 Y como el centurión vió lo que había acontecido, dió gloria á Dios, diciendo: Verdaderamente este hombre era justo.

23:47 Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.

23:48 Y toda la multitud de los que estaban presentes á este espectáculo, viendo lo que había acontecido, se volvían hiriendo sus pechos.

23:48 And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, stroke their breasts, and returned.

23:49 Mas todos sus conocidos, y las mujeres que le habían seguido desde Galilea, estaban lejos mirando estas cosas.

23:49 And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood far off, beholding these things.

23:50 Y he aquí un varón llamado José, el cual era senador, varón bueno y justo,

23:50 And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:

23:51 (El cual no había consentido en el consejo ni en los hechos de ellos), de Arimatea, ciudad de la Judea, el cual también esperaba el reino de Dios;

23:51 (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.

23:52 Este llegó á Pilato, y pidió el cuerpo de Jesús.

23:52 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.

23:53 Y quitado, lo envolvió en una sábana, y le puso en un sepulcro abierto en una peña, en el cual ninguno había aún sido puesto.

23:53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.

23:54 Y era día de la víspera de la Pascua; y estaba para rayar el sábado.

23:54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.

23:55 Y las mujeres que con él habían venido de Galilea, siguieron también y vieron el sepulcro, y cómo fué puesto su cuerpo.

23:55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the tomb, and how his body was laid.

23:56 Y vueltas, aparejaron drogas aromáticas y ungüentos; y reposaron el sábado, conforme al mandamiento.

23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

24:1 Y EL primer día de la semana, muy de mañana, vinieron al sepulcro, trayendo las drogas aromáticas que habían aparejado, y algunas otras mujeres con ellas.

24:1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

24:2 Y hallaron la piedra revuelta del sepulcro.

24:2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.

24:3 Y entrando, no hallaron el cuerpo del Señor Jesús.

24:3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

24:4 Y aconteció, que estando ellas espantadas de esto, he aquí se pararon junto á ellas dos varones con vestiduras resplandecientes;

24:4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

24:5 Y como tuviesen ellas temor, y bajasen el rostro á tierra, les dijeron: ¿Por qué buscáis entre los muertos al que vive?

24:5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek all of you the living among the dead?

24:6 No está aquí, mas ha resucitado: acordaos de lo que os habló, cuando aun estaba en Galilea,

24:6 He is not here, but has risen: remember how he spoke unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

24:7 Diciendo: Es menester que el Hijo del hombre sea entregado en manos de hombres pecadores, y que sea crucificado, y resucite al tercer día.

24:7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

24:8 Entonces ellas se acordaron de sus palabras,

24:8 And they remembered his words, (o. rhema)

24:9 Y volviendo del sepulcro, dieron nuevas de todas estas cosas á los once, y á todos los demás.

24:9 And returned from the tomb, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.

24:10 Y eran María Magdalena, y Juana, y María madre de Jacobo, y las demás con ellas, las que dijeron estas cosas á los apóstoles.

24:10 It was Mary Magdalene and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.

24:11 Mas á ellos les parecían como locura las palabras de ellas, y no las creyeron.

24:11 And their words (o. rhema) seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.

24:12 Pero levantándose Pedro, corrió al sepulcro: y como miró dentro, vió solos los lienzos echados; y se fué maravillándose de lo que había sucedido.

24:12 Then arose Peter, and ran unto the tomb; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.

24:13 Y he aquí, dos de ellos iban el mismo día á una aldea que estaba de Jerusalem sesenta estadios, llamada Emmaús.

24:13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.

24:14 E iban hablando entre sí de todas aquellas cosas que habían acaecido.

24:14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.

24:15 Y aconteció que yendo hablando entre sí, y preguntándose el uno al otro, el mismo Jesús se llegó, é iba con ellos juntamente.

24:15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.

24:16 Mas los ojos de ellos estaban embargados, para que no le conociesen.

24:16 But their eyes were held that they should not know him.

24:17 Y díjoles: ¿Qué pláticas son estas que tratáis entre vosotros andando, y estáis tristes?

24:17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications (o. logos) are these that all of you have one to another, as all of you walk, and are sad?

24:18 Y respondiendo el uno, que se llamaba Cleofas, le dijo: ¿Tú sólo peregrino eres en Jerusalem, y no has sabido las cosas que en ella han acontecido estos días?

24:18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Are you only a stranger in Jerusalem, and have not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?

24:19 Entonces él les dijo: ¿Qué cosas? Y ellos le dijeron: De Jesús Nazareno, el cual fué varón profeta, poderoso en obra y en palabra delante de Dios y de todo el pueblo;

24:19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word (o. logos) before God and all the people:

24:20 Y cómo le entregaron los príncipes de los sacerdotes y nuestros príncipes á condenación de muerte, y le crucificaron.

24:20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.

24:21 Mas nosotros esperábamos que él era el que había de redimir á Israel: y ahora sobre todo esto, hoy es el tercer día que esto ha acontecido.

24:21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.

24:22 Aunque también unas mujeres de los nuestros nos han espantado, las cuales antes del día fueron al sepulcro:

24:22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the tomb;

24:23 Y no hallando su cuerpo, vinieron diciendo que también habían visto visión de ángeles, los cuales dijeron que él vive.

24:23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.

24:24 Y fueron algunos de los nuestros al sepulcro, y hallaron así como las mujeres habían dicho; más á él no le vieron.

24:24 And certain of them which were with us went to the tomb, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.

24:25 Entonces él les dijo: ¡Oh insensatos, y tardos de corazón para creer todo lo que los profetas han dicho!

24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

24:26 ¿No era necesario que el Cristo padeciera estas cosas, y que entrara en su gloria?

24:26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?

24:27 Y comenzando desde Moisés, y de todos los profetas, declarábales en todas las Escrituras lo que de él decían.

24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

24:28 Y llegaron á la aldea á donde iban: y él hizo como que iba más lejos.

24:28 And they drew nigh unto the village, where they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.

24:29 Mas ellos le detuvieron por fuerza, diciendo: Quédate con nosotros, porque se hace tarde, y el día ya ha declinado. Entró pues á estarse con ellos.

24:29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.

24:30 Y aconteció, que estando sentado con ellos á la mesa, tomando el pan, bendijo, y partió, y dióles.

24:30 And it came to pass, as he sat at food with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.

24:31 Entonces fueron abiertos los ojos de ellos, y le conocieron; mas él se desapareció de los ojos de ellos.

24:31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

24:32 Y decían el uno al otro: ¿No ardía nuestro corazón en nosotros, mientras nos hablaba en el camino, y cuando nos abría las Escrituras?

24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

24:33 Y levantándose en la misma hora, tornáronse á Jerusalem, y hallaron á los once reunidos, y á los que estaban con ellos.

24:33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,

24:34 Que decían: Ha resucitado el Señor verdaderamente, y ha aparecido á Simón.

24:34 Saying, The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon.

24:35 Entonces ellos contaban las cosas que les habían acontecido en el camino, y cómo había sido conocido de ellos al partir el pan.

24:35 And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.

24:36 Y entre tanto que ellos hablaban estas cosas, él se puso en medio de ellos, y les dijo: Paz á vosotros.

24:36 And as they thus spoke, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and says unto them, Peace be unto you.

24:37 Entonces ellos espantados y asombrados, pensaban que veían espíritu.

24:37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. (o. pneuma)

24:38 Mas él les dice: ¿Por qué estáis turbados, y suben pensamientos á vuestros corazones?

24:38 And he said unto them, Why are all of you troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?

24:39 Mirad mis manos y mis pies, que yo mismo soy: palpad, y ved; que el espíritu ni tiene carne ni huesos, como veis que yo tengo.

24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit (o. pneuma) has not flesh and bones, as all of you see me have.

24:40 Y en diciendo esto, les mostró las manos y los pies.

24:40 And when he had thus spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet.

24:41 Y no creyéndolo aún ellos de gozo, y maravillados, díjoles: ¿Tenéis aquí algo de comer?

24:41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have all of you here any food?

24:42 Entonces ellos le presentaron parte de un pez asado, y un panal de miel.

24:42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.

24:43 Y él tomó, y comió delante de ellos.

24:43 And he took it, and did eat before them.

24:44 Y él les dijo: Estas son las palabras que os hablé, estando aún con vosotros: que era necesario que se cumpliesen todas las cosas que están escritas de mí en la ley de Moisés, y en los profetas, y en los salmos.

24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words (o. logos) which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

24:45 Entonces les abrió el sentido, para que entendiesen las Escrituras;

24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

24:46 Y díjoles: Así está escrito, y así fué necesario que el Cristo padeciese, y resucitase de los muertos al tercer día;

24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it was essential for Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

24:47 Y que se predicase en su nombre el arrepentimiento y la remisión de pecados en todas las naciones, comenzando de Jerusalem.

24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

24:48 Y vosotros sois testigos de estas cosas.

24:48 And all of you are witnesses of these things.

24:49 Y he aquí, yo enviaré la promesa de mi Padre sobre vosotros: mas vosotros asentad en la ciudad de Jerusalem, hasta que seáis investidos de potencia de lo alto.

24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry all of you in the city of Jerusalem, until all of you be imbued with power from on high.

24:50 Y sacólos fuera hasta Bethania, y alzando sus manos, los bendijo.

24:50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

24:51 Y aconteció que bendiciéndolos, se fué de ellos; y era llevado arriba al cielo.

24:51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

24:52 Y ellos, después de haberle adorado, se volvieron á Jerusalem con gran gozo;

24:52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:

24:53 Y estaban siempre en el templo, alabando y bendiciendo á Dios. Amén.

24:53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
