41:1 Now after two years had gone by, Pharaoh had a dream; and in his dream he was by
the side of the Nile;
41:1 And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed:
and, behold, he stood by the river.
41:2 º¸´Ï ¾Æ¸§´ä°í »ìÁø ÀÏ°ö ¾Ï¼Ò°¡ Çϼö¿¡¼ ¿Ã¶ó¿Í °¥¹ç¿¡¼ ¶â¾î¸Ô°í
41:2 And out of the Nile came seven cows, good-looking and fat, and their food was the
river-grass.
41:2 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured cattle
and well fed; and they fed in a meadow.

41:3 And after them seven other cows came out of the Nile, poor-looking and thin; and
they were by the side of the other cows.
41:3 And, behold, seven other cattle came up after them out of the river,
ill favoured and thin; and stood by the other cattle upon the brink of the river.

41:4 And the seven thin cows made a meal of the seven fat cows. Then Pharaoh came out
of his sleep.
41:4 And the ill favoured and thin cattle did eat up the seven well favoured
and fat cattle. So Pharaoh awoke.
41:5 ´Ù½Ã ÀáÀÌ µé¾î ²ÞÀ» ²Ù´Ï ÇÑ Áٱ⿡ ¹«¼ºÇÏ°í Ãæ½ÇÇÑ ÀÏ°ö ÀÌ»èÀÌ ³ª¿À°í
41:5 But he went to sleep again and had a second dream, in which he saw seven heads of
grain, full and good, all on one stem.
41:5 And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of
corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good.

41:6 And after them came up seven other heads, thin and wasted by the east wind.
41:6 And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up
after them.

41:7 And the seven thin heads made a meal of the good heads. And when Pharaoh was awake
he saw it was a dream.
41:7 And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh
awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.

41:8 And in the morning his spirit was troubled; and he sent for all the wise men of
Egypt and all the holy men, and put his dream before them, but no one was able to
give him the sense of it.
41:8 And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and
he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof:
and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them
unto Pharaoh.
41:9 ¼ú ¸ÃÀº °ü¿øÀåÀÌ ¹Ù·Î¿¡°Ô °íÇÏ¿© °¡·ÎµÇ ³»°¡ ¿À´Ã³¯ ³ªÀÇ Çã¹°À» Ãß¾ïÇϳªÀÌ´Ù
41:9 Then the chief wine-servant said to Pharaoh, The memory of my sin comes back to
me now;
41:9 Then spoke the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults
this day:
41:10 ¹Ù·Î²²¼ Á¾µé¿¡°Ô ³ëÇÏ»ç ³ª¿Í ¶± ±Á´Â °ü¿øÀåÀ» ½ÃÀ§´ëÀåÀÇ Áý¿¡ °¡µÎ¼ÌÀ»

41:10 Pharaoh had been angry with his servants, and had put me in prison in the house
of the captain of the army, together with the chief bread-maker;
41:10 Pharaoh was angry with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain
of the guard's house, both me and the chief baker:
41:11 ³ª¿Í ±×°¡ ÇÏ·í¹ã¿¡ ²ÞÀ» ²ÛÁï °¢±â ¡Á¶°¡ ÀÖ´Â ²ÞÀ̶ó
41:11 And we had a dream on the same night, the two of us, and the dreams had a special
sense.
41:11 And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man
according to the interpretation of his dream.
41:12 ±× °÷¿¡ ½ÃÀ§´ëÀåÀÇ Á¾µÈ È÷ºê¸® ¼Ò³âÀÌ ¿ì¸®¿Í ÇÔ²² ÀÖ±â·Î ¿ì¸®°¡ ±×¿¡°Ô

41:12 And there was with us a young Hebrew, the captain's servant, and when we put our
dreams before him, he gave us the sense of them.
41:12 And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the
captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams;
to each man according to his dream he did interpret.
41:13 ±× Çؼ®ÇÑ ´ë·Î µÇ¾î ³ª´Â º¹Á÷ÇÏ°í ±×´Â ¸Å¿© ´Þ·È³ªÀÌ´Ù
41:13 And it came about as he said: I was put back in my place, and the bread-maker was
put to death by hanging.
41:13 And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored
unto mine office, and him he hanged.
41:14 ¡Û ÀÌ¿¡ ¹Ù·Î°¡ º¸³»¾î ¿ä¼ÁÀ» ºÎ¸£¸Å ±×µéÀÌ ±ÞÈ÷ ±×¸¦ ¿Á¿¡¼ ³½Áö¶ó
¿ä¼ÁÀÌ °ð ¼ö¿°À» ±ð°í ±× ¿ÊÀ» °¥¾Æ ÀÔ°í ¹Ù·Î¿¡°Ô µé¾î¿À´Ï
41:14 Then Pharaoh sent for Joseph, and they took him quickly out of prison; and when
his hair had been cut and his dress changed, he came before Pharaoh.
41:14 Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out
of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in
unto Pharaoh.
41:15 ¹Ù·Î°¡ ¿ä¼Á¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ³»°¡ ÇÑ ²ÞÀ» ²Ù¾úÀ¸³ª ±×°ÍÀ» Çؼ®ÇÏ´Â ÀÚ°¡ ¾ø´õ´Ï

41:15 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, I have had a dream, and no one is able to give me the
sense of it; now it has come to my ears that you are able to give the sense of a
dream when it is put before you.
41:15 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is
none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of you, that you can understand
a dream to interpret it.
41:16 ¿ä¼ÁÀÌ ¹Ù·Î¿¡°Ô ´ë´äÇÏ¿© °¡·ÎµÇ ÀÌ´Â ³»°Ô ÀÖ´Â °ÍÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï¶ó Çϳª´ÔÀÌ

41:16 Then Joseph said, Without God there will be no answer of peace for Pharaoh.
41:16 And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give
Pharaoh an answer of peace.
41:17 ¹Ù·Î°¡ ¿ä¼Á¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ³»°¡ ²Þ¿¡ Çϼö°¡¿¡ ¼¼
41:17 Then Pharaoh said, In my dream I was by the side of the Nile:
41:17 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the
bank of the river:
41:18 º¸´Ï »ìÁö°í ¾Æ¸§´Ù¿î ÀÏ°ö ¾Ï¼Ò°¡ Çϼö°¡¿¡ ¿Ã¶ó¿Í °¥¹ç¿¡¼ ¶â¾î¸Ô°í
41:18 And out of the Nile came seven cows, fat and good-looking, and their food was the
river-grass;
41:18 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven cattle, well fed
and well favoured; and they fed in a meadow:
41:19 ±× µÚ¿¡ ¶Ç ¾àÇÏ°í ½ÉÈ÷ Èä¾ÇÇÏ°í Æĸ®ÇÑ ÀÏ°ö ¾Ï¼Ò°¡ ¿Ã¶ó¿À´Ï ±×°°ÀÌ

41:19 Then after them came seven other cows, very thin and poor-looking, worse than any
I ever saw in the land of Egypt;
41:19 And, behold, seven other cattle came up after them, poor and very ill
favoured and thin, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness:
41:20 ±× Æĸ®ÇÏ°í Èä¾ÇÇÑ ¼Ò°¡ óÀ½ÀÇ ÀÏ°ö »ìÁø ¼Ò¸¦ ¸Ô¾úÀ¸¸ç
41:20 And the thin cows made a meal of the seven fat cows who came up first;
41:20 And the lean and the ill favoured cattle did eat up the first seven
fat cattle:
41:21 ¸Ô¾úÀ¸³ª ¸ÔÀº µíÇÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿© ¿©ÀüÈ÷ Èä¾ÇÇÏ´õ¶ó ³»°¡ °ð ±ú¾ú´Ù°¡
41:21 And even with the fat cows inside them they seemed as bad as before. And so I came
out of my sleep.
41:21 And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had
eaten them; but they were still ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I awoke.
41:22 ´Ù½Ã ²Þ¿¡ º¸´Ï ÇÑ Áٱ⿡ ¹«¼ºÇÏ°í Ãæ½ÇÇÑ ÀÏ°ö ÀÌ»èÀÌ ³ª¿À°í
41:22 And again in a dream I saw seven heads of grain, full and good, coming up on one
stem:
41:22 And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk,
full and good:
41:23 ±× ÈÄ¿¡ ¶Ç ¼¼¾àÇÏ°í µ¿Ç³¿¡ ¸¶¸¥ ÀÏ°ö ÀÌ»èÀÌ ³ª´õ´Ï
41:23 And then I saw seven other heads, dry, thin, and wasted by the east wind, coming
up after them:
41:23 And, behold, seven ears, withered, thin, and blasted with the east
wind, sprung up after them:
41:24 ±× ¼¼¾àÇÑ ÀÌ»èÀÌ ÁÁÀº ÀÏ°ö ÀÌ»èÀ» »ïÅ°´õ¶ó ³»°¡ ±× ²ÞÀ» ¼ú°´¿¡°Ô ¸»ÇÏ¿´À¸³ª

41:24 And the seven thin heads made a meal of the seven good heads; and I put this dream
before the wise men, but not one of them was able to give me the sense of it.
41:24 And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto
the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me.
41:25 ¡Û ¿ä¼ÁÀÌ ¹Ù·Î¿¡°Ô °íÇ쵂 ¹Ù·ÎÀÇ ²ÞÀº ÇϳªÀ̶ó Çϳª´ÔÀÌ ±× ÇÏ½Ç ÀÏÀ»
¹Ù·Î¿¡°Ô º¸À̽ÉÀÌ´ÏÀÌ´Ù
41:25 Then Joseph said, These two dreams have the same sense: God has made clear to Pharaoh
what he is about to do.
41:25 And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God has
showed Pharaoh what he is about to do.
41:26 ÀÏ°ö ÁÁÀº ¾Ï¼Ò´Â ÀÏ°ö ÇØ¿ä ÀÏ°ö ÁÁÀº À̻赵 ÀÏ°ö ÇØ´Ï ±× ²ÞÀº ÇϳªÀ̶ó
41:26 The seven fat cows are seven years, and the seven good heads of grain are seven
years: the two have the same sense.
41:26 The seven good cattle are seven years; and the seven good ears are
seven years: the dream is one.
41:27 ±× ÈÄ¿¡ ¿Ã¶ó¿Â Æĸ®ÇÏ°í Èä¾ÇÇÑ ÀÏ°ö ¼Ò´Â Ä¥ ³âÀÌ¿ä µ¿Ç³¿¡ ¸»¶ó ¼ÓÀÌ

41:27 The seven thin and poor-looking cows who came up after them are seven years; and
the seven heads of grain, dry and wasted by the east wind, are seven years when
there will be no food.
41:27 And the seven thin and ill favoured cattle that came up after them
are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be
seven years of famine.
41:28 ³»°¡ ¹Ù·Î¿¡°Ô °íÇϱ⸦ Çϳª´ÔÀÌ ±× ÇÏ½Ç ÀÏ·Î ¹Ù·Î¿¡°Ô º¸À̽Ŵ٠ÇÔÀÌ

41:28 As I said to Pharaoh before, God has made clear to him what he is about to do.
41:28 This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about
to do he shows unto Pharaoh.
41:29 ¿Â ¾Ö±Á ¶¥¿¡ ÀÏ°ö ÇØ Å« dz³âÀÌ ÀÖ°Ú°í
41:29 Seven years are coming in which there will be great wealth of grain in Egypt;
41:29 Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land
of Egypt:
41:30 ÈÄ¿¡ ÀÏ°ö ÇØ Èä³âÀÌ µé¹Ç·Î ¾Ö±Á ¶¥¿¡ ÀÖ´ø dz³âÀ» ´Ù Àؾî¹ö¸®°Ô µÇ°í
ÀÌ ¶¥ÀÌ ±â±ÙÀ¸·Î ¸ê¸ÁµÇ¸®´Ï
41:30 And after that will come seven years when there will not be enough food; and the
memory of the good years will go from men's minds; and the land will be made waste
by the bad years;
41:30 And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the
plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume
the land;
41:31 ÈÄ¿¡ µç ±× Èä³âÀÌ ³Ê¹« ½ÉÇϹǷΠÀÌÀü dz³âÀ» ÀÌ ¶¥¿¡¼ ±â¾ïÇÏÁö ¸øÇÏ°Ô

41:31 And men will have no memory of the good time because of the need which will come
after, for it will be very bitter.
41:31 And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine
following; for it shall be very grievous.
41:32 ¹Ù·Î²²¼ ²ÞÀ» µÎ ¹ø °ãÃÄ ²Ù½Å °ÍÀº Çϳª´ÔÀÌ ÀÌ ÀÏÀ» Á¤ÇϼÌÀ½À̶ó ¼ÓÈ÷

41:32 And this dream came to Pharaoh twice, because this thing is certain, and God will
quickly make it come about.
41:32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because
the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.
41:33 ÀÌÁ¦ ¹Ù·Î²²¼´Â ¸íöÇÏ°í ÁöÇý ÀÖ´Â »ç¶÷À» ÅÃÇÏ¿© ¾Ö±Á ¶¥À» Ä¡¸®ÇÏ°Ô

41:33 And now let Pharaoh make search for a man of wisdom and good sense, and put him
in authority over the land of Egypt.
41:33 Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set
him over the land of Egypt.
41:34 ¹Ù·Î²²¼´Â ¶Ç ÀÌ°°ÀÌ ÇàÇÏ»ç ±¹Áß¿¡ ¿©·¯ °ü¸®¸¦ µÎ¾î ±× ÀÏ°ö ÇØ Ç³³â¿¡
¾Ö±Á ¶¥ÀÇ ¿ÀºÐÀÇ ÀÏÀ» °ÅµÎµÇ
41:34 Let Pharaoh do this, and let him put overseers over the land of Egypt to put in
store a fifth part of the produce of the land in the good years.
41:34 Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and
take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven abundant years.
41:35 ±× °ü¸®·Î ÀåÂ÷ ¿Ã dz³âÀÇ ¸ðµç °î¹°À» °ÅµÎ°í ±× °î¹°À» ¹Ù·ÎÀÇ ¼Õ¿¡ µ¹·Á
¾ç½ÄÀ» À§ÇÏ¿© °¢ ¼º¿¡ ÀûÄ¡ÇÏ°Ô ÇϼҼ
41:35 And let them get together all the food in those good years and make a store of grain
under Pharaoh's control for the use of the towns, and let them keep it.
41:35 And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and
lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.
41:36 ÀÌ¿Í °°ÀÌ ±× °î¹°À» ÀÌ ¶¥¿¡ ÀúÀåÇÏ¿© ¾Ö±Á ¶¥¿¡ ÀÓÇÒ ÀÏ°ö ÇØ Èä³âÀ» ¿¹ºñÇϽøé
¶¥ÀÌ ÀÌ Èä³âÀ» ÀÎÇÏ¿© ¸ê¸ÁÄ¡ ¾Æ´ÏÇϸ®ÀÌ´Ù
41:36 And let that food be kept in store for the land till the seven bad years which are
to come in Egypt; so that the land may not come to destruction through need of food.
41:36 And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years
of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through
the famine.
41:37 ¡Û ¹Ù·Î¿Í ±× ¸ðµç ½ÅÇÏ°¡ ÀÌ ÀÏÀ» ÁÁ°Ô ¿©±äÁö¶ó
41:37 And this seemed good to Pharaoh and to all his servants.
41:37 And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all
his servants.
41:38 ¹Ù·Î°¡ ±× ½ÅÇϵ鿡°Ô À̸£µÇ ÀÌ¿Í °°ÀÌ Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ½Å¿¡ °¨µ¿ÇÑ »ç¶÷À» ¿ì¸®°¡
¾îÂî ¾òÀ» ¼ö ÀÖÀ¸¸®¿ä ÇÏ°í
41:38 Then Pharaoh said to his servants, Where may we get such a man as this, a man in
whom is the spirit of God?
41:38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this
is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?
41:39 ¿ä¼Á¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ Çϳª´ÔÀÌ ÀÌ ¸ðµç °ÍÀ» ³×°Ô º¸À̼ÌÀ¸´Ï ³Ê¿Í °°ÀÌ ¸íöÇÏ°í
ÁöÇý ÀÖ´Â ÀÚ°¡ ¾øµµ´Ù
41:39 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Seeing that God has made all this clear to you, there
is no other man of such wisdom and good sense as you:
41:39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God has showed you all this,
there is none so discreet and wise as you are:
41:40 ³Ê´Â ³» ÁýÀ» Ä¡¸®ÇÏ¶ó ³» ¹é¼ºÀÌ ´Ù ³× ¸íÀ» º¹Á¾Çϸ®´Ï ³ª´Â ³Êº¸´Ù ³ôÀ½ÀÌ

41:40 You, then, are to be over my house, and all my people will be ruled by your word:
only as king will I be greater than you.
41:40 You shall be over my house, and according unto your word shall all
my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than you.
41:41 ¹Ù·Î°¡ ¶Ç ¿ä¼Á¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ³»°¡ ³Ê·Î ¾Ö±Á ¿Â ¶¥À» ÃѸ®ÇÏ°Ô Çϳë¶ó ÇÏ°í
41:41 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, See, I have put you over all the land of Egypt.
41:41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set you over all the land
of Egypt.
41:42 ÀÚ±âÀÇ ÀÎÀå ¹ÝÁö¸¦ »©¾î ¿ä¼ÁÀÇ ¼Õ¿¡ ³¢¿ì°í ±×¿¡°Ô ¼¼¸¶Æ÷ ¿ÊÀ» ÀÔÈ÷°í

41:42 Then Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand and put it on Joseph's hand, and he
had him clothed with the best linen, and put a chain of gold round his neck;
41:42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's
hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about
his neck;
41:43 Àڱ⿡°Ô ÀÖ´Â ¹ö±Ý ¼ö·¹¿¡ ±×¸¦ Å¿ì¸Å ¹«¸®°¡ ±× ¾Õ¿¡¼ ¼Ò¸® Áö¸£±â¸¦

41:43 And he made him take his seat in the second of his carriages; and they went before
him crying, Make way! So he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.
41:43 And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they
cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.

all the land of Egypt.

all the land of Egypt.

41:46 And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of
Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout
all the land of Egypt.

41:47 Now in the seven good years the earth gave fruit in masses.

41:48 And Joseph got together all the food of those seven years, and made a store of food
in the towns: the produce of the fields round every town was stored up in the town.
41:48 And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the
land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which
was round about every city, laid he up in the same.

me all memory of my hard life and of my father's house.
41:51 And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said
he, has made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house.

41:53 And so the seven good years in Egypt came to an end.

for bread; and Pharaoh said to the people, Go to Joseph, and whatever he says to
you, do it.
41:55 And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh
for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he
says to you, do.

all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore
in the land of Egypt.

42:1 Now Jacob, hearing that there was grain in Egypt, said to his sons, Why are you
looking at one another?
42:1 Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his
sons, Why do all of you look one upon another?

42:2 And he said, I have had news that there is grain in Egypt: go down there and get
grain for us, so that life and not death may be ours.
42:2 And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you
down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.

42:4 But Jacob did not send Benjamin, Joseph's brother, with them, for fear, as he said,
that some evil might come to him.
42:4 But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for
he said, Lest possibly mischief befall him.

42:6 Now Joseph was ruler over all the land, and it was he who gave out the grain to
all the people of the land; and Joseph's brothers came before him and went down
on their faces to the earth.
42:6 And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to
all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves
before him with their faces to the earth.

42:7 And when Joseph saw his brothers, it was clear to him who they were, but he made
himself strange to them, and talking roughly to them, said, Where do you come from?
And they said, From the land of Canaan, to get food.
42:7 And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange
unto them, and spoke roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come all
of you? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.

42:8 Now though Joseph saw that these were his brothers, they had no idea who he was.

42:9 Then the memory of his dreams about them came back to Joseph, and he said to them,
You have come secretly to see how poor the land is.
42:9 And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said
unto them, All of you are spies; to see the nakedness of the land all of you
are come.

42:10 And they said to him, Not so, my lord: your servants have come with money to get
food.

42:11 We are all one man's sons, we are true men; we have not come with any secret purpose.

42:13 Then they said, We your servants are twelve brothers, sons of one man in the land
of Canaan; the youngest of us is now with our father, and one is dead.
42:13 And they said, Your servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man
in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father,
and one is not.

42:14 And Joseph said, It is as I said; you have come with some secret purpose;

42:15 But in this way will you be put to the test: by the life of Pharaoh, you will not
go away from this place till your youngest brother comes here.
42:15 Hereby all of you shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh all of you
shall not go forth behind, except your youngest brother come here.

42:16 Send one of your number to get your brother, and the rest of you will be kept in
prison, so that your words may be tested to see if you are true; if not, by the
life of Pharaoh, your purpose is certainly secret.
42:16 Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and all of you shall
be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth
in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely all of you are spies.

42:17 So he put them in prison for three days.
42:17 And he put them all together into ward three days.

42:18 And on the third day Joseph said to them, Do this, if you would keep your lives:
for I am a god-fearing man:
42:18 And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear
God:

42:19 If you are true men, let one of you be kept in prison, while you go and take grain
for the needs of your families;
42:19 If all of you be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the
house of your prison: go all of you, carry corn for the famine of your houses:

42:20 And come back to me with your youngest brother, so that your words may be seen to
be true, and you will not be put to death. This is what you are to do.
42:20 But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified,
and all of you shall not die. And they did so.

42:21 And they said to one another, Truly, we did wrong to our brother, for we saw his
grief of mind, and we did not give ear to his prayers; that is why this trouble
has come on us.
42:21 And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother,
in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not
hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

42:22 And Reuben said to them, Did I not say to you, Do the child no wrong? but you gave
no attention; so now, punishment has come on us for his blood.
42:22 And Reuben answered them, saying, Spoke I not unto you, saying, Do
not sin against the child; and all of you would not hear? therefore, behold,
also his blood is required.

again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before
their eyes.

42:25 Then Joseph gave orders for their bags to be made full of grain, and for every man's
money to be put back into his bag, and for food to be given them for the journey:
which was done.
42:25 Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore
every man's money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and
thus did he unto them.

42:27 Now at their night's resting-place one of them, opening his bag to give his ass
some food, saw his money in the mouth of the bag.
42:27 And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass animal food in the
inn, he espied his money; for, behold, it was in his sack's mouth.

42:28 And he said to his brothers, My money has been given back: it is in my bag; then
their hearts became full of fear, and turning to one another they said, What is
this which God has done to us?
42:28 And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is
even in my sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, saying one
to another, What is this that God has done unto us?

42:33 And the ruler of the land said, In this way I may be certain that you are true men;
let one of you be kept here with me, while you go and take grain for the needs of

and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone:

are true men, and I will give your brother back to you and let you do trade in the

42:34 And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that all
of you are no spies, but that all of you are true men: so will I deliver you
your brother, and all of you shall trade in the land.

42:38 And he said, I will not let my son go down with you; for his brother is dead and
he is all I have: if evil overtakes him on the journey, then through you will my
grey head go down to the underworld in sorrow.
42:38 And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is
dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which all
of you go, then shall all of you bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the
grave.

me again without your brother.

43:7 And they said, The man put a number of questions to us about ourselves and our family,
saying, Is your father still living? have you another brother? And we had to give
him answers; how were we to have any idea that he would say, Come back with your
brother?
43:7 And they said, The man asked us strictly of our state, and of our kindred,
saying, Is your father yet alive? have all of you another brother? and we told
him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would
say, Bring your brother down?

43:8 Then Judah said to Israel, his father, Send the boy with me, and let us be up and
going, so that we and you and our little ones may not come to destruction.

will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and you, and also
our little ones.

43:9 Put him into my care and make me responsible for him: if I do not give him safely
back to you, let mine be the sin for ever.
43:9 I will be guarantor for him; of my hand shall you require him: if I
bring him not unto you, and set him before you, then let me bear the blame for
ever:

43:10 Truly, if we had not let the time go by, we might have come back again by now.
43:10 For except we had lingered, surely now we had returned this second
time.

43:11 Then their father Israel said to them, If it has to be so, then do this: take of
the best fruits of the land in your vessels to give the man, perfumes and honey
and spices and nuts:
43:11 And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this;
take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man
a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:

43:12 And take twice as much money with you; that is to say, take back the money which
was put in your bags, for it may have been an error;
43:12 And take double money in your hand; and the money that was brought
again in the mouth of your sacks, carry it again in your hand; possibly it was
an oversight:

43:13 And take your brother and go back to the man:

43:14 And may God, the Ruler of all, give you mercy before the man, so that he may give
you back your other brother and Benjamin. If my children are to be taken from me;
there is no help for it.
43:14 And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away
your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.

43:15 So they took what their father said for the man, and twice as much money in their
hands, and Benjamin, and went on their journey to Egypt, and came before Joseph.
43:15 And the men took that present, and they took double money in their
hand and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.

43:16 And when Joseph saw Benjamin, he said to his chief servant, Take these men into
my house, and make ready a meal, for they will take food with me in the middle of
the day.
43:16 And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his
house, Bring these men home, and slay, and make ready; for these men shall dine
with me at noon.

43:18 Now the men were full of fear because they had been taken into Joseph's house and
they said, It is because of the money which was put back in our bags the first time;
he is looking for something against us, so that he may come down on us and take
us and our asses for his use.
43:18 And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph's house;
and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first
time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon
us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.

43:19 So they went up to Joseph's chief servant at the door of the house,
43:19 And they came near to the steward of Joseph's house, and they communed
with him at the door of the house,

43:20 And said, O my lord, we only came down the first time to get food;

43:21 And when we came to our night's resting-place, on opening our bags we saw that every
man's money was in the mouth of his bag, all our money in full weight: and we have
it with us to give it back;
43:21 And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks,
and, behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full
weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.

your father, has put wealth in your bags for you: I had your money. Then he let
Simeon come out to them.

Simeon out unto them.

43:29 Then, lifting up his eyes, he saw Benjamin, his brother, his mother's son, and he

43:29 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother's
son, and said, Is this your younger brother, of whom all of you spoke unto me?
And he said, God be gracious unto you, my son.

might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

mouth.

did as Joseph said.
44:2 And put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack's mouth of the youngest,
and his corn money. And he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.

44:4 And when they had gone only a little way out of the town, Joseph said to the servant
who was over his house, Go after them; and when you overtake them, say to them,
Why have you done evil in reward for good?
44:4 And when they were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, Joseph
said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when you do overtake them,
say unto them, Wherefore have all of you rewarded evil for good?

44:6 So he overtook them and said these words to them.

servants to do such a thing:

that your servants should do according to this thing:

44:8 See, the money which was in the mouth of our bags we gave back to you when we came
again from Canaan: how then might we take silver or gold from your lord's house?
44:8 Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks' mouths, we brought again
unto you out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of your lord's
house silver or gold?

44:9 If it comes to light that any of your servants has done this, let him be put to
death, and we will be your lord's servants.
44:9 With whomsoever of your servants it be found, both let him die, and
we also will be my lord's bondmen.

44:10 And he said, Let it be as you say: he in whose bag it is seen will become my servant;
and you will not be responsible.
44:10 And he said, Now also let it be according unto your words: he with
whom it is found shall be my servant; and all of you shall be blameless.

44:11 Then every man quickly got his bag down and undid it.

44:12 And he made a search, starting with the oldest and ending with the youngest; and
the cup was in Benjamin's bag.
44:12 And he searched, and began at the eldest, and left at the youngest:
and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.

44:13 Then in bitter grief they put the bags on the asses again and went back to the town.
44:13 Then they rent their clothes, and laded every man his ass, and returned
to the city.

44:14 So Judah and his brothers came to Joseph's house; and he was still there: and they
went down on their faces before him.

such a man as I would have power to see what is secret?

know all of you not that such a man as I can certainly divine?

44:16 And Judah said, What are we to say to my lord? how may we put ourselves right in
his eyes? God has made clear the sin of your servants: now we are in your hands,
we and the man in whose bag your cup was seen.
44:16 And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak?
or how shall we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants:
behold, we are my lord's servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is
found.

servant; and you may go back to your father in peace.

the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace
unto your father.

and let not your wrath be burning against your servant: for you are in the place
of Pharaoh to us.
44:18 Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let your servant,
I pray you, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not yours anger burn against
your servant: for you are even as Pharaoh.

44:20 And we said to my lord, We have an old father and a young child, whom he had when
he was old; his brother is dead and he is the only son of his mother, and is very
dear to his father.
44:20 And we said unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child
of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left
of his mother, and his father loves him.

45:1 Then Joseph, unable to keep back his feelings before those who were with him, gave
orders for everyone to be sent away, and no one was present when he made clear to
his brothers who he was.
45:1 Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all them that stood by
him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man
with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren.

45:3 And Joseph said to his brothers, I am Joseph: is my father still living? But his
brothers were not able to give him an answer for they were troubled before him.
45:3 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; does my father yet live?
And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence.

45:4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, Come near to me. And they came near, And he said,
I am Joseph your brother, whom you sent into Egypt.
45:4 And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And
they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom all of you sold
into Egypt.

45:5 Now do not be troubled or angry with yourselves for sending me away, because God
sent me before you to be the saviour of your lives.
45:5 Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that all of
you sold me here: for God did send me before you to preserve life.

45:6 For these two years have been years of need, and there are still five more years
to come in which there will be no ploughing or cutting of grain.
45:6 For these two years has the famine been in the land: and yet there are
five years, in the which there shall neither be earring nor harvest.

45:7 God sent me before you to keep you and yours living on earth so that you might become
a great nation.

and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

45:8 So now it was not you who sent me here, but God: and he has made me as a father
to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and ruler over all the land of Egypt.

a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the
land of Egypt.

not:

45:10 The land of Goshen will be your living-place, and you will be near me; you and your

45:10 And you shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near unto
me, you, and your children, and your children's children, and your flocks, and
your herds, and all that you have:

45:11 And there I will take care of you, so that you and your family may not be in need,
for there are still five bad years to come.
45:11 And there will I nourish you; for yet there are five years of famine;
lest you, and your household, and all that you have, come to poverty.

mouth which says these things to you.
45:12 And, behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that

45:13 Give my father word of all my glory in Egypt and of all you have seen; and come
back quickly with my father.
45:13 And all of you shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of
all that all of you have seen; and all of you shall haste and bring down my
father here.

45:14 Then, weeping, he took Benjamin in his arms, and Benjamin himself was weeping on
Joseph's neck.
45:14 And he fell upon his brother Benjamin's neck, and wept; and Benjamin
wept upon his neck.

45:15 Then he gave a kiss to all his brothers, weeping over them; and after that his brothers
had no fear of talking to him.
45:15 Moreover he kissed all his brethren, and wept upon them: and after
that his brethren talked with him.

45:16 And news of these things went through Pharaoh's house, and it was said that Joseph's
brothers were come; and it seemed good to Pharaoh and his servants.
45:16 And the fame thereof was heard in Pharaoh's house, saying, Joseph's
brethren are come: and it pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants.

45:17 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Say to your brothers, Put your goods on your beasts
and go back to the land of Canaan;
45:17 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Say unto your brethren, This do all of
you; load your beasts, and go, get you unto the land of Canaan;

45:18 And get your father and your families and come back to me: and I will give you all
the good things of Egypt, and the fat of the land will be your food.
45:18 And take your father and your households, and come unto me: and I will
give you the good of the land of Egypt, and all of you shall eat the fat of
the land.

45:19 And say to them, This you are to do: take carts from the land of Egypt for your
little ones and for your wives, and get your father and come back.
45:19 Now you are commanded, this do all of you; take you wagons out of the
land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father,
and come.

45:23 And to his father he sent after this manner; ten asses laden with the
good things of Egypt, and ten she asses laden with corn and bread and food for
his father by the way.

And at this word Jacob was quite overcome, for he had no faith in it.
45:26 And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over
all the land of Egypt. And Jacob's heart fainted, for he believed them not.

saw the carts which Joseph had sent for them, his spirit came back to him:
45:27 And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them:
and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of
Jacob their father revived:

46:1 And Israel went on his journey with all he had, and came to Beer-sheba, where he
made offerings to the God of his father Isaac.

46:2 And God said to Israel in a night-vision, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.

46:3 And he said, I am God, the God of your father: go down to Egypt without fear, for
I will make a great nation of you there:

46:4 I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will see that you come back again, and at
your death Joseph will put his hands on your eyes.

46:5 Then Jacob went on from Beer-sheba; and the sons of Jacob took their father and
their little ones and their wives in the carts which Pharaoh had sent for them.

their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh
had sent to carry him.

and came to Egypt, even Jacob and all his seed:

46:12 And the sons of Judah: Er and Onan and Shelah and Perez and Zerah: but Er and Onan
had come to their death in the land of Canaan; and the sons of Perez were Hezron
and Hamul.

46:15 All these, together with his daughter Dinah, were the children of Leah, whom Jacob
had by her in Paddan-aram; they were thirty-three in number.

and when he came before him, he put his arms round his neck, weeping.

to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept
on his neck a good while.

46:31 And Joseph said to his brothers and to his father's people, I will go and give the
news to Pharaoh, and say to him, My brothers and my father's people, from the land
of Canaan, have come to me;
46:31 And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father's house, I will
go up, and show Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father's house,
which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me;

46:32 And these men are keepers of sheep and owners of cattle, and have with them their
flocks and their herds and all they have.

46:33 Now when Pharaoh sends for you and says, What is your business?
46:33 And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say,

46:34 You are to say, Your servants have been keepers of cattle from our early days up
to now, like our fathers; in this way you will be able to have the land of Goshen
for yourselves; because keepers of sheep are unclean in the eyes of the Egyptians.
46:34 That all of you shall say, Your servants' trade has been about cattle
from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that all of you
may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the
Egyptians.

47:1 Then Joseph went to Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brothers with their flocks
and their herds and all they have, are come from Canaan, and are now in the land
of Goshen.
47:1 Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren,
and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the
land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Goshen.

47:3 And Pharaoh said to them, What is your business? And they said, Your servants are
keepers of sheep, as our fathers were before us.

said unto Pharaoh, Your servants are shepherds, both we, and also our fathers.

47:4 And they said to Pharaoh, We have come to make a living in this land, because we
have no grass for our flocks in the land of Canaan; so now let your servants make
a place for themselves in the land of Goshen.
47:4 They said moreover unto Pharaoh, In order to sojourn in the land are
we come; for your servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine
is sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray you, let your servants
dwell in the land of Goshen.
47:5 ¹Ù·Î°¡ ¿ä¼Á¿¡°Ô ÀÏ·¯ °¡·ÎµÇ ³× ¾Æºñ¿Í ÇüµéÀÌ ³×°Ô ¿ÔÀºÁï
47:5 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Let them have the land of Goshen; and if there are any
able men among them, put them over my cattle.
47:5 And Pharaoh spoke unto Joseph, saying, Your father and your brethren
are come unto you:

47:6 And Jacob and his sons came to Joseph in Egypt, and when word of it came to the
ears of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, he said to Joseph, Your father and brothers have
come to you; all the land of Egypt is before you; let your father and your brothers
have the best of the land for their resting-place.
47:6 The land of Egypt is before you; in the best of the land make your father
and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if you know
any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.

47:7 And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh:

47:9 And Jacob said, The years of my wanderings have been a hundred and thirty; small
in number and full of sorrow have been the years of my life, and less than the years
of the wanderings of my fathers.
47:9 And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage
are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of
my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of
my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.

47:10 And Jacob gave Pharaoh his blessing, and went out from before him.

47:11 And Joseph made a place for his father and his brothers, and gave them a heritage
in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had
given orders.
47:11 And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession
in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh
had commanded.
47:12 ¶Ç ±× ¾Æºñ¿Í Çüµé°ú ¾ÆºñÀÇ ¿Â Áý¿¡ ±× ½Ä±¸¸¦ µû¶ó ½Ä¹°À» ÁÖ¾î °ø±ËÇÏ¿´´õ¶ó
47:12 And Joseph took care of his father and his brothers and all his father's people,
giving them food for the needs of their families.
47:12 And Joseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his father's
household, with bread, according to their families.

47:13 Now there was no food to be had in all the land, so that all Egypt and Canaan were
wasted from need of food.
47:13 And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very sore,
so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the
famine.

47:14 And all the money in Egypt and in the land of Canaan which had been given for grain,
came into the hands of Joseph: and he put it in Pharaoh's house.
47:14 And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of
Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph
brought the money into Pharaoh's house.
47:15 ¾Ö±Á ¶¥°ú °¡³ª¾È ¶¥¿¡ µ·ÀÌ ÁøÇÑÁö¶ó ¾Ö±Á ¹é¼ºÀÌ ´Ù ¿ä¼Á¿¡°Ô ¿Í¼ °¡·ÎµÇ

47:15 And when all the money in Egypt and Canaan was gone, the Egyptians came to Joseph,
and said, Give us bread; would you have us come to destruction before your eyes?
for we have no more money.
47:15 And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan,
all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should
we die in your presence? for the money fails.

47:16 And Joseph said, Give me your cattle; I will give you grain in exchange for your
cattle if your money is all gone.

47:17 So they took their cattle to Joseph and he gave them bread in exchange for their
horses and flocks and herds and asses, so all that year he gave them food in exchange
for their cattle.
47:17 And they brought their cattle unto Joseph: and Joseph gave them bread
in exchange for horses, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds,
and for the asses: and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that
year.

47:18 And when that year was ended, they came to him in the second year, and said, We
may not keep it from our lord's knowledge that all our money is gone, and all the
herds of cattle are my lord's; there is nothing more to give my lord but our bodies
and our land;
47:18 When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said
unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my
lord also has our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my
lord, but our bodies, and our lands:

47:19 Are we to come to destruction before your eyes, we and our land? take us and our
land and give us bread; and we and our land will be servants to Pharaoh; and give
us seed so that we may have life and the land may not become waste.
47:19 Wherefore shall we die before yours eyes, both we and our land? buy
us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants unto Pharaoh:
and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not desolate.

47:20 So Joseph got all the land in Egypt for Pharaoh; for every Egyptian gave up his
land in exchange for food, because of their great need; so all the land became Pharaoh's.
47:20 And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians
sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land
became Pharaoh's.
47:21 ¿ä¼ÁÀÌ ¾Ö±Á ÀÌ ³¡¿¡¼ Àú ³¡±îÁöÀÇ ¹é¼ºÀ» ¼ºÀ¾µé¿¡ ¿Å°åÀ¸³ª
47:21 And as for the people, he made servants of them, town by town, from one end of Egypt
to the other.
47:21 And as for the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the
borders of Egypt even to the other end thereof.

47:22 Only he did not take the land of the priests, for the priests had their food given
them by Pharaoh, and having what Pharaoh gave them, they had no need to give up
their land.
47:22 Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a portion
assigned them of Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh gave them:
wherefore they sold not their lands.

47:23 Then Joseph said to the people, I have made you and your land this day the property
of Pharaoh; here is seed for you to put in your fields.
47:23 Then Joseph said unto the people, Behold, I have bought you this day
and your land for Pharaoh: lo, here is seed for you, and all of you shall sow
the land.

47:24 And when the grain is cut, you are to give a fifth part to Pharaoh, and four parts
will be yours for seed and food, and for your families and your little ones.
47:24 And it shall come to pass in the increase, that all of you shall give
the fifth part unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the
field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for
your little ones.
47:25 ±×µéÀÌ °¡·ÎµÇ ÁÖ²²¼ ¿ì¸®¸¦ »ì¸®¼Ì»ç¿À´Ï ¿ì¸®°¡ ÁÖ²² ÀºÇý¸¦ ÀÔ°í ¹Ù·ÎÀÇ

47:25 And they said to him, Truly you have kept us from death; may we have grace in your
eyes, and we will be Pharaoh's servants.
47:25 And they said, You have saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight
of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's servants.

47:26 Then Joseph made a law which is in force to this day, that Pharaoh was to have the
fifth part; only the land of the priests did not become his.
47:26 And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day, that
Pharaoh should have the fifth part, except the land of the priests only, which
became not Pharaoh's.

47:27 And so Israel was living among the Egyptians in the land of Goshen; and they got
property there, and became very great in numbers and in wealth.
47:27 And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and
they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.

47:28 And Jacob was living in the land of Goshen for seventeen years; so the years of
his life were a hundred and forty-seven.
47:28 And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years: so the whole
age of Jacob was an hundred forty and seven years.

47:29 And the time of his death came near, and he sent for his son Joseph and said to
him, If now I am dear to you, put your hand under my leg and take an oath that you
will not put me to rest in Egypt;
47:29 And the time drew nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son
Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have found grace in your sight, put, I pray
you, your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; bury me not,
I pray you, in Egypt:

47:30 But when I go to my fathers, you are to take me out of Egypt and put me to rest
in their last resting-place. And he said, I will do so.
47:30 But I will lie with my fathers, and you shall carry me out of Egypt,
and bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as you have said.

47:31 And he said, Take an oath to me; and he took an oath to him: and Israel gave worship
on the bed's head.
47:31 And he said, Swear unto me. And he swore unto him. And Israel bowed
himself upon the bed's head.

48:1 Now after these things, word came to Joseph that his father was ill: and he took
with him his sons Manasseh and Ephraim.
48:1 And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold,
your father is sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.
48:2 ȤÀÌ ¾ß°ö¿¡°Ô °íÇ쵂 ³× ¾Æµé ¿ä¼ÁÀÌ ³×°Ô ¿Ô´Ù ÇϸŠÀ̽º¶ó¿¤ÀÌ ÈûÀ» ³»¾î

48:2 And when they said to Jacob, Your son Joseph is coming to see you: then Israel,
getting all his strength together, had himself lifted up in his bed.
48:2 And one told Jacob, and said, Behold, your son Joseph comes unto you:
and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed.

48:3 And Jacob said to Joseph, God, the Ruler of all, came to me in a vision at Luz in
the land of Canaan, and gave me his blessing,
48:3 And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in
the land of Canaan, and blessed me,
48:4 ³»°Ô À̸£½ÃµÇ ³»°¡ ³Ê·Î »ýÀ°ÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ¸ç ¹ø¼ºÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ¿© ³×°Ô¼ ¸¹Àº ¹é¼ºÀÌ

48:4 And said to me, Truly, I will make you fertile and give you increase and will make
of you a great family of nations: and I will give this land to your seed after you
to be their heritage for ever.
48:4 And said unto me, Behold, I will make you fruitful, and multiply you,
and I will make of you a multitude of people; and will give this land to your
seed after you for an everlasting possession.
48:5 ³»°¡ ¾Ö±ÁÀ¸·Î ¿Í¼ ³×°Ô À̸£±â Àü¿¡ ¾Ö±Á¿¡¼ ³×°Ô ³ºÀº µÎ ¾Æµé ¿¡ºê¶óÀÓ°ú

48:5 And now your two sons who came to birth in Egypt before I came to you here, are
mine; Ephraim and Manasseh will be mine, in the same way as Reuben and Simeon are.
48:5 And now your two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were born unto you
in the land of Egypt before I came unto you into Egypt, are mine; as Reuben
and Simeon, they shall be mine.

48:6 And any other offspring which you have after them, will be yours, and will be named
after their brothers in their heritage.
48:6 And your issue, which you brought forth after them, shall be yours,
and shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.

48:7 And as for me, when I came from Paddan, death overtook Rachel on the way, when we
were still some distance from Ephrath; and I put her to rest there on the road to
Ephrath, which is Beth-lehem.
48:7 And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land
of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath:
and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem.

48:8 Then Israel, looking at Joseph's sons, said, Who are these?

48:9 And Joseph said to his father, They are my sons, whom God has given me in this land.
And he said, Let them come near me, and I will give them a blessing.
48:9 And Joseph said unto his father, They are my sons, whom God has given
me in this place. And he said, Bring them, I pray you, unto me, and I will bless
them.

48:10 Now because Israel was old, his eyes were no longer clear, and he was not able to
see. So he made them come near to him, and he gave them a kiss, folding them in
his arms.

48:14 And Israel, stretching out his right hand, put it on the head of Ephraim, the younger,
and his left hand on the head of Manasseh, crossing his hands on purpose, for Manasseh
was the older.
48:14 And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's

hands wisely; for Manasseh was the firstborn.

48:16 The angel who has been my saviour from all evil, send his blessing on these children:
and let my name and the name of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac, be given to them;
and let them become a great nation in the earth.

48:17 Now when Joseph saw that his father had put his right hand on the head of Ephraim,
it did not seem right to him; and lifting his father's hand he would have put it
on the head of Manasseh.
48:17 And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head
of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father's hand, to remove it
from Ephraim's head unto Manasseh's head.

brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.

49:26 Blessings of sons, old and young, to the father: blessings of the oldest mountains
and the fruit of the eternal hills: let them come on the head of Joseph, on the
crown of him who was separate from his brothers.
49:26 The blessings of your father have prevailed above the blessings of
my conceivers unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be
on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate
from his brethren.

50:2 And Joseph gave orders to his servants who had the necessary knowledge, to make
his father's body ready, folding it in linen with spices, and they did so.
50:2 And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father:
and the physicians embalmed Israel.

of those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and

50:4 And when the days of weeping for him were past, Joseph said to the servants of Pharaoh,
If now you have love for me, say these words to Pharaoh:
50:4 And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spoke unto the house
of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you,
in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,

50:5 My father made me take an oath, saying, When I am dead, put me to rest in the place
I have made ready for myself in the land of Canaan. So now let me go and put my
father in his last resting-place, and I will come back again.
50:5 My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have
dug for me in the land of Canaan, there shall you bury me. Now therefore let
me go up, I pray you, and bury my father, and I will come again.
50:6 ¹Ù·Î°¡ °¡·ÎµÇ ±×°¡ ³×°Ô ½ÃŲ ¸Í¼¼´ë·Î ¿Ã¶ó°¡¼ ³× ¾Æºñ¸¦ Àå»çÇ϶ó
50:6 And Pharaoh said, Go up and put your father to rest, as you gave your oath to him.
50:6 And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury your father, according as he made
you swear.

50:7 So Joseph went up to put his father in his last resting-place; and with him went
all the servants of Pharaoh, and the chief men of his house and all the chiefs of
the land of Egypt,
50:7 And Joseph went up to bury his father: and with him went up all the
servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land
of Egypt,

50:8 And all the family of Joseph, and his brothers and his father's people: only their
little ones and their flocks and herds they did not take with them from the land
of Goshen.
50:8 And all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father's house:
only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the
land of Goshen.

50:9 And carriages went up with him and horsemen, a great army.
50:9 And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: and it was a
very great company.
50:10 ±×µéÀÌ ¿ä´Ü ° °Ç³ÊÆí ¾Æ´å ŸÀÛ ¸¶´ç¿¡ À̸£·¯ °Å±â¼ Å©°Ô È£°îÇÏ°í ¾ÖÅëÇϸç

50:10 And they came to the grain-floor of Atad on the other side of Jordan, and there
they gave the last honours to Jacob, with great and bitter sorrow, weeping for their
father for seven days.
50:10 And they came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond Jordan,
and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a
mourning for his father seven days.
50:11 ±× ¶¥ °Å¹Î °¡³ª¾È ¹é¼ºµéÀÌ ¾Æ´å ¸¶´çÀÇ ¾ÖÅëÀ» º¸°í °¡·ÎµÇ ÀÌ´Â ¾Ö±Á

50:11 And when the people of the land, the people of Canaan, at the grain-floor of Atad,
saw their grief, they said, Great is the grief of the Egyptians: so the place was
named Abel-mizraim, on the other side of Jordan.
50:11 And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning
in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians:
wherefore the name of it was called Abelmizraim, which is beyond Jordan.
50:12 ¾ß°öÀÇ ¾ÆµéµéÀÌ ºÎ¸íÀ» ÁÀ¾Æ ÇàÇÏ¿©
50:12 So his sons did as he had given them orders to do:
50:12 And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them:

50:13 For they took him into the land of Canaan and put him to rest in the hollow rock
in the field of Machpelah, which Abraham got with the field, for a resting-place,
from Ephron the Hittite at Mamre.
50:13 For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in
the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for
a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.

50:14 And when his father had been put to rest, Joseph and his brothers and all who had
gone with him, went back to Egypt.
50:14 And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that
went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.

50:15 Now after the death of their father, Joseph's brothers said to themselves, It may
be that Joseph's heart will be turned against us, and he will give us punishment
for all the evil which we did to him.
50:15 And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said,
Joseph will possibly hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which
we did unto him.
50:16 ¿ä¼Á¿¡°Ô ¸»À» ÀüÇÏ¿© °¡·ÎµÇ ´ç½ÅÀÇ ¾Æ¹öÁö°¡ µ¹¾Æ°¡½Ã±â Àü¿¡ ¸íÇÏ¿© À̸£½Ã±â¸¦
50:16 So they sent word to Joseph, saying, Your father, before his death, gave us orders,
saying,
50:16 And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Your father did command
before he died, saying,

50:17 You are to say to Joseph, Let the wrongdoing of your brothers be overlooked, and
the evil they did to you: now, if it is your pleasure, let the sin of the servants
of your father's God have forgiveness. And at these words, Joseph was overcome with
weeping.
50:17 So shall all of you say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray you now, the trespass
of your brethren, and their sin; for they did unto you evil: and now, we pray
you, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father. And Joseph
wept when they spoke unto him.

50:18 Then his brothers went, and falling at his feet, said, Truly, we are your servants.
50:18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they
said, Behold, we be your servants.
50:19 ¿ä¼ÁÀÌ ±×µé¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ µÎ·Á¿ö ¸¶¼Ò¼ ³»°¡ Çϳª´ÔÀ» ´ë½ÅÇϸ®À̱î
50:19 And Joseph said, Have no fear: am I in the place of God?
50:19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?
50:20 ´ç½ÅµéÀº ³ª¸¦ ÇØÇÏ·Á ÇÏ¿´À¸³ª Çϳª´ÔÀº ±×°ÍÀ» ¼±À¸·Î ¹Ù²Ù»ç ¿À´Ã°ú

50:20 As for you, it was in your mind to do me evil, but God has given a happy outcome,
the salvation of numbers of people, as you see today.
50:20 But as for you, all of you thought evil against me; but God meant it
unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
50:21 ´ç½ÅµéÀº µÎ·Á¿ö ¸¶¼Ò¼ ³»°¡ ´ç½Åµé°ú ´ç½ÅµéÀÇ Àڳฦ ±â¸£¸®ÀÌ´Ù ÇÏ°í

50:21 So now, have no fear: for I will take care of you and your little ones. So he gave
them comfort with kind words.
50:21 Now therefore fear all of you not: I will nourish you, and your little
ones. And he comforted them, and spoke kindly unto them.
50:22 ¡Û ¿ä¼ÁÀÌ ±× ¾ÆºñÀÇ °¡Á·°ú ÇÔ²² ¾Ö±Á¿¡ °ÅÇÏ¿© ÀÏ¹é ½Ê ¼¼¸¦ »ì¸ç
50:22 Now Joseph and all his father's family went on living in Egypt: and the years of
Joseph's life were a hundred and ten.
50:22 And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house: and Joseph lived
an hundred and ten years.

50:23 And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation: and the children of Machir,
the son of Manasseh, came to birth on Joseph's knees.
50:23 And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation: the children
also of Machir the son of Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph's knees.

50:24 Then Joseph said to his brothers, The time of my death has come; but God will keep
you in mind and take you out of this land into the land which he gave by his oath
to Abraham and Isaac and Jacob.
50:24 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit
you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he swore to Abraham,
to Isaac, and to Jacob.
50:25 ¿ä¼ÁÀÌ ¶Ç À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼Õ¿¡°Ô ¸Í¼¼½ÃÄÑ À̸£±â¸¦ Çϳª´ÔÀÌ Á¤³ç ³ÊÈñ¸¦

50:25 Then Joseph made the children of Israel take an oath, saying, God will certainly
give effect to his word, and you are to take my bones away from here.
50:25 And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will
surely visit you, and all of you shall carry up my bones from behind.
