1:1 Now it came about in the days of Ahasuerus, (that Ahasuerus who was ruler of a hundred and twenty-seven divisions of the kingdom, from India as far as Ethiopia:)
1:1 Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this is Ahasuerus which reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over an hundred and seven and twenty provinces:)

1:2 That in those days, when King Ahasuerus was ruling in Shushan, his strong town,

1:3 In the third year of his rule he gave a feast to all his captains and his servants; and the captains of the army of Persia and Media, the great men and the rulers of the divisions of his kingdom, were present before him;
1:3 In the third year of his reign, he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants; the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him:

1:4 And for a long time, even a hundred and eighty days, he let them see all the wealth and the glory of his kingdom and the great power and honour which were his.
1:4 When he showed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honour of his excellent majesty many days, even an hundred and fourscore days.

1:5 And at the end of that time, the king gave a feast for all the people who were present in Shushan, the king's town, small as well as great, for seven days, in the outer square of the garden of the king's house.
1:5 And when these days were expired, the king made a feast unto all the people that were present in Shushan the palace, both unto great and small, seven days, in the court of the garden of the king's palace;

1:6 ¹é»ö, ³ì»ö, û»ö ÈÖÀåÀ» ÀÚ»ö °¡´Â º£ ÁÙ·Î ´ë¸®¼® ±âµÕ Àº°í¸®¿¡ ¸Å°í ±Ý°ú ÀºÀ¸·Î ¸¸µç °É»óÀ» È­¹Ý¼®, ¹é¼®, ¿î¸ð¼®, Èæ¼®À» ±ñ ¶¥¿¡ Áø¼³ÇÏ°í
1:6 There were fair hangings of white and green and blue, fixed with cords of purple and the best linen to silver rings and pillars of polished stone: the seats were of gold and silver on a floor of red and white and yellow and black stone.
1:6 Where were white, green, and blue, hangings, fastened with cords of fine linen and purple to silver rings and pillars of marble: the beds were of gold and silver, upon a pavement of red, and blue, and white, and black, marble.

1:7 And they gave them drink in gold vessels, every vessel being different, and wine of the kingdom, freely given by the king.
1:7 And they gave them drink in vessels of gold, (the vessels being diverse one from another,) and royal wine in abundance, according to the state of the king.

1:8 ¸¶½Ã´Â °Íµµ ±Ô¸ð°¡ ÀÖ¾î »ç¶÷À¸·Î ¾ïÁö·Î ÇÏÁö ¾Ê°Ô ÇÏ´Ï ÀÌ´Â ¿ÕÀÌ ¸ðµç ±Ã³» °ü¸®¿¡°Ô ¸íÇÏ¿© °¢ »ç¶÷À¸·Î ¸¶À½´ë·Î ÇÏ°Ô ÇÔÀÌ´õ¶ó
1:8 And the drinking was in keeping with the law; no one was forced: for the king had given orders to all the chief servants of his house to do as was pleasing to every man.
1:8 And the drinking was according to the law; none did compel: for so the king had appointed to all the officers of his house, that they should do according to every man's pleasure.

1:9 ¡Û ¿ÕÈÄ ¿Í½ºµðµµ ¾ÆÇϼö¿¡·Î ¿Õ±Ã¿¡¼­ ºÎ³àµéÀ» À§ÇÏ¿© ÀÜÄ¡¸¦ º£Çª´Ï¶ó
1:9 And Vashti the queen gave a feast for the women in the house of King Ahasuerus.
1:9 Also Vashti the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house which belonged to king Ahasuerus.

1:10 Á¦ Ä¥ ÀÏ¿¡ ¿ÕÀÌ ÁÖÈïÀÌ ÀϾ¼­ ¾îÀü ³»½Ã ¹ÇÈĸ¸°ú ºñ½º´Ù¿Í Çϸ£º¸³ª¿Í ºò´Ù¿Í ¾Æ¹Ú´Ù¿Í ¼¼´Þ°ú °¡¸£°¡½º ÀÏ°ö »ç¶÷À» ¸íÇÏ¿©
1:10 On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was glad with wine, he gave orders to Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, the seven unsexed servants who were waiting before Ahasuerus the king,
1:10 On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, the seven chamberlains that served in the presence of Ahasuerus the king,

1:11 That Vashti the queen was to come before him, crowned with her crown, and let the people and the captains see her: for she was very beautiful.
1:11 To bring Vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal, to show the people and the princes her beauty: for she was fair to look on.

1:12 But when the servants gave her the king's order, Vashti the queen said she would not come: then the king was very angry, and his heart was burning with wrath.
1:12 But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king's commandment by his chamberlains: therefore was the king very angry, and his anger burned in him.

1:13 And the king said to the wise men, who had knowledge of the times, (for this was the king's way with all who were expert in law and in the giving of decisions:
1:13 Then the king said to the wise men, which knew the times, (for so was the king's manner toward all that knew law and judgment:

1:14 ¶§¿¡ ¿Õ¿¡°Ô °¡±îÀÌ ÇÏ¿© ¿ÕÀÇ ±â»öÀ» »ìÇÇ¸ç ³ª¶ó ù ÀÚ¸®¿¡ ¾ÉÀº ÀÚ´Â ¹Ù»ç¿Í ¸Þ´ëÀÇ ÀÏ°ö ¹æ¹é °ð °¡¸£½º³ª¿Í ¼¼´Þ°ú ¾Æµå¸¶´Ù¿Í ´Ù½Ã½º¿Í ¸Þ·¹½º¿Í ¸¶¸£½º³ª¿Í ¹Ç¹«°£À̶ó}
1:14 And second only to him were Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven rulers of Persia and Media, who were friends of the king, and had the first places in the kingdom:)
1:14 And the next unto him was Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, which saw the king's face, and which sat the first in the kingdom;)

1:15 ¿ÕÈÄ ¿Í½ºµð°¡ ³»½ÃÀÇ ÀüÇÏ´Â ¾ÆÇϼö¿¡·Î ¿Õ¸íÀ» ÁÀÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ´Ï ±Ô·Ê´ë·Î ÇÏ¸é ¾î¶»°Ô óġÇÒ²¿
1:15 What is to be done by law to Vashti the queen, because she has not done what King Ahasuerus, by his servants, gave her orders to do?
1:15 What shall we do unto the queen Vashti according to law, because she has not performed the commandment of the king Ahasuerus by the chamberlains?

1:16 ¹Ç¹«°£ÀÌ ¿Õ°ú ¹æ¹é ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ´ë´äÇÏ¿© °¡·ÎµÇ ¿ÕÈÄ ¿Í½ºµð°¡ ¿Õ¿¡°Ô¸¸ À߸øÇÒ »Ó ¾Æ´Ï¶ó ¾ÆÇϼö¿¡·Î ¿ÕÀÇ °¢ µµ ¹æ¹é°ú ¹µ ¹é¼º¿¡°Ôµµ À߸øÇÏ¿´³ªÀÌ´Ù
1:16 And before the king and the captains, Memucan gave his answer: Vashti the queen has done wrong, not only to the king, but to all the captains and to all the peoples in all the divisions of the kingdom of King Ahasuerus;
1:16 And Memucan answered before the king and the princes, Vashti the queen has not done wrong to the king only, but also to all the princes, and to all the people that are in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus.

1:17 ¾ÆÇϼö¿¡·Î ¿ÕÀÌ ¸íÇÏ¿© ¿ÕÈÄ ¿Í½ºµð¸¦ ûÇÏ¿©µµ ¿ÀÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿´´Ù ÇÏ´Â ¿ÕÈÄÀÇ ÇàÀ§ÀÇ ¼Ò¹®ÀÌ ¸ðµç ºÎ³à¿¡°Ô ÀüÆĵǸé ÀúÈñµµ ±× ³²ÆíÀ» ¸ê½ÃÇÒ °ÍÀÎÁï
1:17 For news of what the queen has done will come to the ears of all women, and they will no longer give respect to their husbands when it is said to them, King Ahasuerus gave orders for Vashti the queen to come before him and she came not.
1:17 For this deed of the queen shall come abroad unto all women, so that they shall despise their husbands in their eyes, when it shall be reported, The king Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not.

1:18 ¿À´ÃÀÌ¶óµµ ¹Ù»ç¿Í ¸Þ´ëÀÇ ±ÍºÎÀεéÀÌ ¿ÕÈÄÀÇ ÇàÀ§¸¦ µè°í ¿ÕÀÇ ¸ðµç ¹æ¹é¿¡°Ô ±×·¸°Ô ¸»Çϸ®´Ï ¸ê½Ã¿Í ºÐ³ë°¡ ¸¹ÀÌ ÀϾ¸®ÀÌ´Ù
1:18 And the wives of the captains of Persia and Media, hearing what the queen has done, will say the same to all the king's captains. So there will be much shame and wrath.
1:18 Likewise shall the ladies of Persia and Media say this day unto all the king's princes, which have heard of the deed of the queen. Thus shall there arise too much contempt and wrath.

1:19 ¿ÕÀÌ ¸¸ÀÏ ¼±È÷ ¿©±â½ÇÁø´ë ¿Í½ºµð·Î ´Ù½Ã´Â ¿Õ ¾Õ¿¡ ¿ÀÁö ¸øÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ´Â Á¶¼­¸¦ ³»¸®µÇ ¹Ù»ç¿Í ¸Þ´ëÀÇ ¹ý·ü Áß¿¡ ±â·ÏÇÏ¿© º¯¿ªÇÔÀÌ ¾ø°Ô ÇÏ°í ±× ¿ÕÈÄÀÇ À§¸¦ Àúº¸´Ù ³ªÀº »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô ÁÖ¼Ò¼­
1:19 If it is pleasing to the king, let an order go out from him, and let it be recorded among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, so that it may never be changed, that Vashti is never again to come before King Ahasuerus; and let the king give her place to another who is better than she.
1:19 If it please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, That Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she.

1:20 ¿ÕÀÇ Á¶¼­°¡ ÀÌ ±¤´ëÇÑ Àü±¹¿¡ ¹ÝÆ÷µÇ¸é ±ÍõÀ» ¹«·ÐÇÏ°í ¸ðµç ºÎ³à°¡ ±× ³²ÆíÀ» Á¸°æÇϸ®ÀÌ´Ù
1:20 And when this order, given by the king, is made public through all his kingdom (for it is great), all the wives will give honour to their husbands, great as well as small.
1:20 And when the king's decree which he shall make shall be published throughout all his empire, (for it is great,) all the wives shall give to their husbands honour, both to great and small.

1:21 ¿Õ°ú ¹æ¹éµéÀÌ ±× ¸»À» ¼±È÷ ¿©±äÁö¶ó ¿ÕÀÌ ¹Ç¹«°£ÀÇ ¸»´ë·Î ÇàÇÏ¿©
1:21 And this suggestion seemed good to the king and the captains; and the king did as Memucan said;
1:21 And the saying pleased the king and the princes; and the king did according to the word of Memucan:

1:22 °¢ µµ °¢ ¹é¼ºÀÇ ¹®ÀÚ¿Í ¹æ¾ð´ë·Î ¸ðµç µµ¿¡ Á¶¼­¸¦ ³»·Á À̸£±â¸¦ ³²ÆíÀ¸·Î ±× ÁýÀ» ÁÖ°üÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ°í Àڱ⠹ÎÁ·ÀÇ ¹æ¾ð´ë·Î ¸»ÇÏ°Ô Ç϶ó ÇÏ¿´´õ¶ó
1:22 And sent letters to all the divisions of the kingdom, to every division in the writing commonly used there, and to every people in the language which was theirs, saying that every man was to be the ruler in his house, and that this order was to be given out in the language of his people.
1:22 For he sent letters into all the king's provinces, into every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language, that every man should bear rule in his own house, and that it should be published according to the language of every people.

2:1 ±× ÈÄ¿¡ ¾ÆÇϼö¿¡·Î ¿ÕÀÇ ³ë°¡ ±×Ä¡¸Å ¿Í½ºµð¿Í ±×ÀÇ ÇàÇÑ ÀÏ°ú ±×¿¡ ´ëÇÏ¿© ³»¸° Á¶¼­¸¦ »ý°¢ÇÏ°Å´Ã
2:1 After these things, when the king's feelings were calmer, the thought of Vashti and what she had done and the order he had made against her, came back to his mind.
2:1 After these things, when the wrath of king Ahasuerus was appeased, he remembered Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her.

2:2 ¿ÕÀÇ ½Ã½ÅÀÌ ¾Æ·ÚµÇ ¿ÕÀº ¿ÕÀ» À§ÇÏ¿© ¾Æ¸®µû¿î ó³àµéÀ» ±¸ÇÏ°Ô ÇϽõÇ
2:2 Then the servants who were waiting on the king said to him, Let search be made for some fair young virgins for the king:
2:2 Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, Let there be fair young virgins sought for the king:

2:3 Àü±¹ °¢ µµ¿¡ °ü¸®¸¦ ¸í·ÉÇÏ¿© ¾Æ¸®µû¿î ó³à¸¦ ´Ù µµ¼º ¼ö»êÀ¸·Î ¸ð¾Æ ÈıÃÀ¸·Î µé¿© ±Ã³à¸¦ ÁÖ°üÇÏ´Â ³»½Ã Çì°³ÀÇ ¼Õ¿¡ ºÙ¿© ±× ¸öÀ» Á¤°áÄÉ ÇÏ´Â ¹°Ç°À» ÁÖ°Ô ÇϽðí
2:3 Let the king give authority to certain men in all the divisions of his kingdom, to get together all the fair young virgins and send them to Shushan, the king's town, to the women's house, under the care of Hegai, the king's servant, the keeper of the women: and let the things needed for making them clean be given to them;
2:3 And let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto Shushan the palace, to the house of the women, unto the custody of Hege the king's chamberlain, keeper of the women; and let their things for purification be given them:

2:4 ¿ÕÀÇ ´«¿¡ ¾Æ¸§´Ù¿î ó³à·Î ¿Í½ºµð¸¦ ´ë½ÅÇÏ¿© ¿ÕÈĸ¦ »ïÀ¸¼Ò¼­ ¿ÕÀÌ ±× ¸»À» ¼±È÷ ¿©°Ü ±×´ë·Î ÇàÇϴ϶ó
2:4 And let the girl who is pleasing to the king be queen in place of Vashti. And the king was pleased with this suggestion; and he did so.
2:4 And let the maiden which pleases the king be queen instead of Vashti. And the thing pleased the king; and he did so.

2:5 ¡Û µµ¼º ¼ö»ê¿¡ ÇÑ À¯´ÙÀÎÀÌ ÀÖÀ¸´Ï À̸§Àº ¸ð¸£µå°³¶ó Àú´Â º£³Ä¹Î ÀÚ¼ÕÀÌ´Ï ±â½ºÀÇ Áõ¼ÕÀÌ¿ä ½Ã¹ÇÀÌÀÇ ¼ÕÀÚ¿ä ¾ßÀÏÀÇ ¾ÆµéÀ̶ó
2:5 Now there was a certain Jew in Shushan named Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite;
2:5 Now in Shushan the palace there was a certain Jew, whose name was Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite;

2:6 Who had been taken away from Jerusalem among those who had been made prisoner with Jeconiah, king of Judah, when Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had taken him away.
2:6 Who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away.

2:7 ÀúÀÇ »ïÃÌÀÇ µþ ÇÏ´å»ç °ð ¿¡½º´õ´Â ºÎ¸ð°¡ ¾ø°í ¿ë¸ð°¡ °ö°í ¾Æ¸®µû¿î ó³à¶ó ±× ºÎ¸ð°¡ Á×Àº ÈÄ¿¡ ¸ð¸£µå°³°¡ Àڱ⠵þ °°ÀÌ ¾çÀ°ÇÏ´õ¶ó
2:7 And he had been a father to Hadassah, that is Esther, the daughter of his father's brother: for she had no father or mother, and she was very beautiful; and when her father and mother were dead, Mordecai took her for his daughter.
2:7 And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle's daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.

2:8 ¡Û ¿ÕÀÇ Á¶¸íÀÌ ¹ÝÆ÷µÇ¸Å ó³àµéÀÌ µµ¼º ¼ö»ê¿¡ ¸¹ÀÌ ¸ð¿© Çì°³ÀÇ ¼öÇÏ¿¡ ³ª¾Æ°¥ ¶§¿¡ ¿¡½º´õµµ ¿Õ±ÃÀ¸·Î À̲ø·Á °¡¼­ ±Ã³à¸¦ ÁÖ°üÇÏ´Â Çì°³ÀÇ ¼öÇÏ¿¡ ¼ÓÇÏ´Ï
2:8 So when the order made by the king was publicly given out, and a number of girls had been placed in the care of Hegai in the king's house in Shushan, Esther was taken into the king's house and put in the care of Hegai, the keeper of the women.
2:8 So it came to pass, when the king's commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king's house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.

2:9 And he was pleased with the girl and was kind to her; and he quickly gave her what was needed for making her clean, and the things which were hers by right, and seven servant-girls who were to be hers from the king's house: and he had her and her servant-girls moved to the best place in the women's part of the house.
2:9 And the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king's house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women.

2:10 Esther had not said what family or people she came from, for Mordecai had given her orders not to do so.

2:12 Now every girl, when her turn came, had to go in to King Ahasuerus, after undergoing, for a space of twelve months, what was ordered by the law for the women (for this was the time necessary for making them clean, that is, six months with oil of myrrh and six months with sweet perfumes and such things as are needed for making women clean):

2:14 In the evening she went, and on the day after she came back to the second house of the women, into the keeping of Shaashgaz, one of the king's unsexed servants who had the care of the king's wives: only if the king had delight in her and sent for her by name did she go in to him again.

2:15 Now when the time came for Esther, the daughter of Abihail, his father's brother, whom Mordecai had taken as his daughter, to go in to the king, she made request for nothing but what Hegai, the king's servant and keeper of the women, had given her. And Esther was looked on kindly by all who saw her.
2:15 Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king's chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. 2:17 And Esther was more pleasing to the king than all the women, and to his eyes she was fairer and more full of grace than all the other virgins: so he put his crown on her head and made her queen in place of Vashti.
2:17 And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.

2:18 Then the king gave a great feast for all his captains and his servants, even Esther's feast; and he gave orders through all the divisions of his kingdom for a day of rest from work, and gave wealth from his store.
2:18 Then the king made a great feast unto all his princes and his servants, even Esther's feast; and he made a release to the provinces, and gave gifts, according to the state of the king.

2:21 In those days, while Mordecai was seated at the king's doorway, two of the king's servants, Bigthan and Teresh, keepers of the door, being angry, were looking for a chance to make an attack on King Ahasuerus.

3:1 After these things, by the order of the king, Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, was lifted up and given a position of honour and a higher place than all the other captains who were with him.
3:1 After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.

3:2 And all the king's servants who were in the king's house went down to the earth before Haman and gave him honour: for so the king had given orders. But Mordecai did not go down before him or give him honour.
3:2 And all the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

3:3 Then the king's servants who were in the king's house said to Mordecai, Why do you go against the king's order?
3:3 Then the king's servants, which were in the king's gate, said unto Mordecai, Why trangress you the king's commandment?

3:4 Now when they had said this to him day after day and he gave no attention, they let Haman have news of it, to see if Mordecai's behaviour would be overlooked: for he had said to them that he was a Jew.
3:4 Now it came to pass, when they spoke daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew.

3:5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai did not go down before him and give him honour, Haman was full of wrath.

3:6 But it was not enough for him to make an attack on Mordecai only; for they had made clear to him who Mordecai's people were; so Haman made it his purpose to put an end to all the Jews, even Mordecai's people, through all the kingdom of Ahasuerus.
3:6 And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had showed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.

3:7 In the first month, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, from day to day and from month to month they went on looking for a sign given by Pur (that is chance) before Haman, till the sign came out for the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the month Adar.
3:7 In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.

3:8 And Haman said to King Ahasuerus, There is a certain nation living here and there in small groups among the people in all the divisions of your kingdom; their laws are different from those of any other nation, and they do not keep the king's laws: for this reason it is not right for the king to let them be.
3:8 And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of your kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.

3:9 If it is the king's pleasure, let a statement ordering their destruction be put in writing: and I will give to those responsible for the king's business, ten thousand talents of silver for the king's store-house.
3:9 If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.

3:12 Then on the thirteenth day of the first month, the king's scribes were sent for, and they put in writing Haman's orders to all the king's captains and the rulers of every division of his kingdom and the chiefs of every people: for every division of the kingdom in the writing commonly used there, and to every people in the language which was theirs; it was signed in the name of King Ahasuerus and stamped with the king's ring.
3:12 Then were the king's scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king's ring.

3:13 And letters were sent by the runners into every division of the kingdom ordering the death and destruction of all Jews, young and old, little children and women, on the same day, even the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the month Adar, and the taking of all their goods by force.
3:13 And the letters were sent by posts into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.

3:14 A copy of the writing, to be made public in every part of the kingdom, was sent out to all the peoples, so that they might be ready when that day came.

3:15 The runners went out quickly by the king's order, and a public statement was made in Shushan: and the king and Haman took wine together: but the town of Shushan was troubled.
3:15 The posts went out, being hastened by the king's commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.

4:1 Now when Mordecai saw what was done, pulling off his robe, he put on haircloth, with dust on his head, and went out into the middle of the town, crying out with a loud and bitter cry.
4:1 When Mordecai perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and a bitter cry;

4:2 And he came even before the king's doorway; for no one might come inside the king's door clothed in haircloth.
4:2 And came even before the king's gate: for none might enter into the king's gate clothed with sackcloth.

4:3 ¿ÕÀÇ Á¶¸íÀÌ °¢ µµ¿¡ À̸£¸Å À¯´ÙÀÎÀÌ Å©°Ô ¾ÖÅëÇÏ¿© ±Ý½ÄÇÏ¸ç °îÀ¾ÇÏ¸ç ºÎ¸£Â¢°í ±½Àº º£¸¦ ÀÔ°í Àç¿¡ ´©¿î ÀÚ°¡ ¹«¼öÇÏ´õ¶ó
4:3 And in every part of the kingdom, wherever the king's word and his order came, there was great sorrow among the Jews, and weeping and crying and going without food; and numbers of them were stretched on the earth covered with dust and haircloth.
4:3 And in every province, anywhere the king's commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.

4:4 ¡Û ¿¡½º´õÀÇ ½Ã³à¿Í ³»½Ã°¡ ³ª¾Æ¿Í °íÇÏ´Ï ¿ÕÈÄ°¡ ½ÉÈ÷ ±Ù½ÉÇÏ¿© ÀÔÀ» ÀǺ¹À» ¸ð¸£µå°³¿¡°Ô º¸³»¾î ±× ±½Àº º£¸¦ ¹þ±â°íÀÚ Çϳª ¸ð¸£µå°³°¡ ¹ÞÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ´ÂÁö¶ó
4:4 And Esther's women and her servants came and gave her word of it. Then great was the grief of the queen: and she sent robes for Mordecai, so that his clothing of haircloth might be taken off; but he would not have them.
4:4 So Esther's maids and her chamberlains came and told it her. Then was the queen exceedingly grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him: but he received it not.

4:5 Then Esther sent for Hathach, one of the king's unsexed servants whom he had given her for waiting on her, and she gave him orders to go to Mordecai and see what this was and why it was.
4:5 Then called Esther for Hatach, one of the king's chamberlains, whom he had appointed to attend upon her, and gave him a commandment to Mordecai, to know what it was, and why it was.

4:6 So Hathach went out and saw Mordecai in the open square of the town before the king's doorway.
4:6 So Hatach went forth to Mordecai unto the street of the city, which was before the king's gate.

4:7 ¸ð¸£µå°³°¡ ÀÚ±âÀÇ ´çÇÑ ¸ðµç ÀÏ°ú Çϸ¸ÀÌ À¯´ÙÀÎÀ» ¸êÇÏ·Á°í ¿ÕÀÇ ºÎ°í¿¡ ¹ÙÄ¡±â·Î ÇÑ ÀºÀÇ Á¤È®ÇÑ ¼öÈ¿¸¦ ÇÏ´Ú¿¡°Ô ¸»ÇÏ°í
4:7 And Mordecai gave him an account of what had taken place, and of the amount of money which Haman had said he would put into the king's store for the destruction of the Jews.
4:7 And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king's treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.

4:8 ¶Ç À¯´ÙÀÎÀ» Áø¸êÇ϶ó°í ¼ö»ê ±Ã¿¡¼­ ³»¸° Á¶¼­ Ãʺ»À» ÇÏ´Ú¿¡°Ô ÁÖ¾î ¿¡½º´õ¿¡°Ô ºÆ¾î ¾Ë°Ô ÇÏ°í ¶Ç Àú¿¡°Ô ºÎŹÇÏ¿© ¿Õ¿¡°Ô ³ª¾Æ°¡¼­ ±× ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ÀÚ±âÀÇ ¹ÎÁ·À» À§ÇÏ¿© °£ÀýÈ÷ ±¸Ç϶ó ÇÏ´Ï
4:8 And he gave him the copy of the order which had been given out in Shushan for their destruction, ordering him to let Esther see it, and to make it clear to her; and to say to her that she was to go in to the king, requesting his mercy, and making prayer for her people.
4:8 Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to show it unto Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.

4:9 And Hathach came back and gave Esther an account of what Mordecai had said.
4:9 And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.

4:10 Then Esther sent Hathach to say to Mordecai:
4:10 Again Esther spoke unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;

4:11 It is common knowledge among all the king's servants and the people of every part of the kingdom, that if anyone, man or woman, comes to the king in his inner room without being sent for, there is only one law for him, that he is to be put to death; only those to whom the king's rod of gold is stretched out may keep their lives: but I have not been sent for to come before the king these thirty days.
4:11 All the king's servants, and the people of the king's provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or women, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.

4:12 ±×°¡ ¿¡½º´õÀÇ ¸»·Î ¸ð¸£µå°³¿¡°Ô °íÇϸÅ
4:12 And they said these words to Mordecai.
4:12 And they told to Mordecai Esther's words.

4:13 ¸ð¸£µå°³°¡ ±×¸¦ ½ÃÄÑ ¿¡½º´õ¿¡°Ô ȸ´äÇ쵂 ³Ê´Â ¿Õ±Ã¿¡ ÀÖÀ¸´Ï ¸ðµç À¯´ÙÀÎ Áß¿¡ Ȧ·Î ¸éÇϸ®¶ó »ý°¢Áö ¸»¶ó
4:13 Then Mordecai sent this answer back to Esther: Do not have the idea that you in the king's house will be safe from the fate of all the Jews.
4:13 Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with yourself that you shall escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews.

4:14 If at this time you say nothing, then help and salvation will come to the Jews from some other place, but you and your father's family will come to destruction: and who is to say that you have not come to the kingdom even for such a time as this?
4:14 For if you altogether hold your peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but you and your father's house shall be destroyed: and who knows whether you are come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

4:15 Then Esther sent them back to Mordecai with this answer:
4:15 Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,

4:16 Go, get together all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and go without food for me, taking no food or drink night or day for three days: and I and my women will do the same; and so I will go in to the king, which is against the law: and if death is to be my fate, then let it come.
4:16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast all of you for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

4:17 So Mordecai went away and did everything as Esther had said.
4:17 So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.

5:1 Á¦ »ï ÀÏ¿¡ ¿¡½º´õ°¡ ¿ÕÈÄÀÇ ¿¹º¹À» ÀÔ°í ¿Õ±Ã ¾È¶ã °ð ¾îÀü ¸ÂÀºÆí¿¡ ¼­´Ï ¿ÕÀÌ ¾îÀü¿¡¼­ Àü ¹®À» ´ëÇÏ¿© º¸Á¿¡ ¾É¾Ò´Ù°¡
5:1 Now on the third day, Esther put on her queen's robes, and took her place in the inner room of the king's house, facing the king's house: and the king was seated on his high seat in the king's house, facing the doorway of the house.
5:1 Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, opposite to the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, opposite to the gate of the house.

5:2 ¿ÕÈÄ ¿¡½º´õ°¡ ¶ã¿¡ ¼± °ÍÀ» º»Áï ½ÉÈ÷ »ç¶û½º·¯¿ì¹Ç·Î ¼Õ¿¡ Àâ¾Ò´ø ±Ý ȦÀ» ±×¿¡°Ô ³»¾î¹Ì´Ï ¿¡½º´õ°¡ °¡±îÀÌ °¡¼­ ±Ý Ȧ ³¡À» ¸¸ÁøÁö¶ó
5:2 And when the king saw Esther the queen waiting in the inner room, looking kindly on her he put out the rod of gold in his hand to her. So Esther came near and put her fingers on the top of the rod.
5:2 And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.

5:3 Then the king said, What is your desire, Queen Esther, and what is your request? I will give it to you, even to the half of my kingdom.
5:3 Then said the king unto her, What will you, queen Esther? and what is your request? it shall be even given you to the half of the kingdom.

5:4 ¿¡½º´õ°¡ °¡·ÎµÇ ¿À´Ã ³»°¡ ¿ÕÀ» À§ÇÏ¿© ÀÜÄ¡¸¦ º£Ç®¾ú»ç¿À´Ï ¿ÕÀÌ ¼±È÷ ¿©±â½Ã°Åµç Çϸ¸°ú ÇÔ²² ÀÓÇϼҼ­
5:4 And Esther in answer said, If it seems good to the king, let the king and Haman come today to the feast which I have made ready for him.
5:4 And Esther answered, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.

5:5 ¡Û ¿ÕÀÌ °¡·ÎµÇ ¿¡½º´õÀÇ ¸»ÇÑ ´ë·Î Çϵµ·Ï Çϸ¸À» ±ÞÈ÷ ºÎ¸£¶ó ÇÏ°í ÀÌ¿¡ ¿ÕÀÌ Çϸ¸°ú ÇÔ²² ¿¡½º´õÀÇ º£Ç¬ ÀÜÄ¡¿¡ ³ª¾Æ°¡´Ï¶ó
5:5 Then the king said, Let Haman come quickly, so that what Esther has said may be done. So the king and Haman came to the feast which Esther had made ready.
5:5 Then the king said, Cause Haman to make haste, that he may do as Esther has said. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.

5:6 ÀÜÄ¡ÀÇ ¼úÀ» ¸¶½Ç ¶§¿¡ ¿ÕÀÌ ¿¡½º´õ¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ±×´ëÀÇ ¼ÒûÀÌ ¹«¾ùÀÌ´¢ °ð Çã¶ôÇÏ°Ú³ë¶ó ±×´ëÀÇ ¿ä±¸°¡ ¹«¾ùÀÌ´¢ ³ª¶óÀÇ Àý¹ÝÀ̶ó ÇÒÁö¶óµµ ½ÃÇàÇÏ°Ú³ë¶ó
5:6 And while they were drinking wine the king said to Esther, What is your prayer? for it will be given to you and what is your request? for it will be done, even to the half of my kingdom.
5:6 And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is your petition? and it shall be granted you: and what is your request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.

5:7 ¿¡½º´õ°¡ ´ë´äÇÏ¿© °¡·ÎµÇ ³ªÀÇ ¼Òû, ³ªÀÇ ¿ä±¸°¡ ÀÌ·¯ÇÏ´ÏÀÌ´Ù
5:7 Then Esther said in answer, My prayer and my request is this:
5:7 Then answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request is;

5:8 ³»°¡ ¸¸ÀÏ ¿ÕÀÇ ¸ñÀü¿¡¼­ ÀºÇý¸¦ ÀÔ¾ú°í ¿ÕÀÌ ³» ¼ÒûÀ» Çã¶ôÇÏ½Ã¸ç ³» ¿ä±¸¸¦ ½ÃÇàÇϽñ⸦ ¼±È÷ ¿©±â½Ã°Åµç ³»°¡ ¿Õ°ú Çϸ¸À» À§ÇÏ¿© º£Çª´Â ÀÜÄ¡¿¡ ¶Ç ³ª¾Æ¿À¼Ò¼­ ³»ÀÏÀº ¿ÕÀÇ ¸»¾¸´ë·Î Çϸ®ÀÌ´Ù
5:8 If I have the king's approval, and if it is the king's pleasure to give me my prayer and do my request, let the king and Haman come to the feast which I will make ready for them, and tomorrow I will do as the king has said.
5:8 If I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do tomorrow as the king has said.

5:9 ÀÌ ³¯¿¡ Çϸ¸ÀÌ ¸¶À½ÀÌ ±â»µ Áñ°ÅÀÌ ³ª¿À´õ´Ï ¸ð¸£µå°³°¡ ´ë±È ¹®¿¡ ÀÖ¾î ÀϾÁöµµ ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ°í ¸öÀ» ¿òÁ÷ÀÌÁöµµ ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ´Â °ÍÀ» º¸°í ½ÉÈ÷ ³ëÇϳª
5:9 Then on that day Haman went out full of joy and glad in heart; but when he saw Mordecai in the king's doorway, and he did not get to his feet or give any sign of fear before him, Haman was full of wrath against Mordecai.
5:9 Then went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai.

5:10 But controlling himself, he went to his house; and he sent for his friends and Zeresh, his wife.
5:10 Nevertheless Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.

5:11 ÀÚ±âÀÇ ºÎ¼ºÇÑ ¿µ±¤°ú Àڳడ ¸¹Àº °Í°ú ¿ÕÀÌ Àڱ⸦ µé¾î ¿ÕÀÇ ¸ðµç ¹æ¹éÀ̳ª ½Åº¹µéº¸´Ù ³ôÀÎ °ÍÀ» ´Ù ¸»ÇÏ°í
5:11 And he gave them an account of the glories of his wealth, and the number of children he had, and the ways in which he had been honoured by the king, and how he had put him over the captains and servants of the king.
5:11 And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

5:12 ¶Ç °¡·ÎµÇ ¿ÕÈÄ ¿¡½º´õ°¡ ±× º£Ç¬ ÀÜÄ¡¿¡ ¿Õ°ú ÇÔ²² ¿À±â¸¦ Çã¶ô ¹ÞÀº ÀÚ´Â ³ª¹Û¿¡ ¾ø¾ú°í ³»Àϵµ ¿Õ°ú ÇÔ²² ûÇÔÀ» ¹Þ¾Ò´À´Ï¶ó
5:12 And Haman said further, Truly, Esther the queen let no man but myself come in to the feast which she had made ready for the king; and tomorrow again I am to be her guest with the king.
5:12 Haman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and tomorrow am I invited unto her also with the king.

5:13 ±×·¯³ª À¯´Ù »ç¶÷ ¸ð¸£µå°³°¡ ´ë±È ¹®¿¡ ¾ÉÀº °ÍÀ» º¸´Â µ¿¾È¿¡´Â ÀÌ ¸ðµç ÀÏÀÌ ¸¸Á·ÇÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇϵµ´Ù
5:13 But all this is nothing to me while I see Mordecai the Jew seated by the king's doorway.
5:13 Yet all this avails me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate.

5:14 ±× ¾Æ³» ¼¼·¹½º¿Í ¸ðµç Ä£±¸°¡ À̸£µÇ ¿À½Ê ±ÔºøÀ̳ª ³ôÀº ³ª¹«¸¦ ¼¼¿ì°í ³»ÀÏ ¿Õ¿¡°Ô ¸ð¸£µå°³¸¦ ±× ³ª¹«¿¡ ´Þ±â¸¦ ±¸ÇÏ°í ¿Õ°ú ÇÔ²² Áñ°ÅÀÌ ÀÜÄ¡¿¡ ³ª¾Æ°¡¼Ò¼­ Çϸ¸ÀÌ ±× ¸»À» ¼±È÷ ¿©±â°í ¸íÇÏ¿© ³ª¹«¸¦ ¼¼¿ì´Ï¶ó
5:14 Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, Let a pillar, fifty cubits high, be made ready for hanging him, and in the morning get the king to give orders for the hanging of Mordecai: then you will be able to go to the feast with the king with a glad heart. And Haman was pleased with the suggestion, and he had the pillar made.
5:14 Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and tomorrow speak you unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go you in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.

6:1 That night the king was unable to get any sleep; and he sent for the books of the records; and while some one was reading them to the king,
6:1 On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.

6:2 ±× ¼Ó¿¡ ±â·ÏÇϱ⸦ ¹® ÁöŲ ¿ÕÀÇ µÎ ³»½Ã ºò´Ù³ª¿Í µ¥·¹½º°¡ ¾ÆÇϼö¿¡·Î ¿ÕÀ» ¸ð»ìÇÏ·Á ÇÏ´Â °ÍÀ» ¸ð¸£µå°³°¡ °í¹ßÇÏ¿´´Ù ÇÏ¿´´ÂÁö¶ó
6:2 It came out that it was recorded in the book how Mordecai had given word of the designs of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's servants, keepers of the door, by whom an attack on the king had been designed.
6:2 And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.

6:3 And the king said, What honour and reward have been given to Mordecai for this? Then the servants who were waiting on the king said, Nothing has been done for him.
6:3 And the king said, What honour and dignity has been done to Mordecai for this? Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, There is nothing done for him.

6:4 Then the king said, Who is in the outer room? Now Haman had come into the outer room to get the king's authority for the hanging of Mordecai on the pillar which he had made ready for him.
6:4 And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king's house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

6:5 ½Ã½ÅÀÌ °íÇ쵂 Çϸ¸ÀÌ ¶ã¿¡ ¼¹³ªÀÌ´Ù ¿ÕÀÌ °¡·ÎµÇ µé¾î¿À°Ô Ç϶ó ÇÏ´Ï
6:5 And the king's servants said to him, See, Haman is waiting in the outer room. And the king said, Let him come in.
6:5 And the king's servants said unto him, Behold, Haman stands in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.

6:6 Çϸ¸ÀÌ µé¾î¿À°Å´Ã ¿ÕÀÌ ¹¯µÇ ¿ÕÀÌ Á¸±ÍÄÉ Çϱ⸦ ±â»µÇÏ´Â »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô ¾î¶»°Ô ÇÏ¿©¾ß ÇÏ°Ú´À´¢ Çϸ¸ÀÌ ½ÉÁß¿¡ À̸£µÇ ¿ÕÀÌ Á¸±ÍÄÉ Çϱ⸦ ±â»µÇϽô ÀÚ´Â ³ª ¿Ü¿¡ ´©±¸¸®¿ä ÇÏ°í
6:6 So Haman came in. And the king said to him, What is to be done to the man whom the king has delight in honouring? Then the thought came into Haman's mind, Whom, more than myself, would the king have pleasure in honouring?
6:6 So Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delights to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself?

6:7 And Haman, answering the king, said, For the man whom the king has delight in honouring,

6:8 Let them take the robes which the king generally puts on, and the horse on which the king goes, and the crown which is on his head:
6:8 Let the royal apparel be brought which the king uses to wear, and the horse that the king rides upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head:

6:9 And let the robes and the horse be given to one of the king's most noble captains, so that they may put them on the man whom the king has delight in honouring, and let him go on horseback through the streets of the town, with men crying out before him, So let it be done to the man whom the king has delight in honouring.
6:9 And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, that they may array the man likewise whom the king delights to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honour.

6:10 Then the king said to Haman, Go quickly, and take the robes and the horse, as you have said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, who is seated at the king's doorway: see that you do everything as you have said.
6:10 Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as you have said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sits at the king's gate: let nothing fail of all that you have spoken.

6:11 Then Haman took the robes and the horse, and dressing Mordecai in the robes, he made him go on horseback through the streets of the town, crying out before him, So let it be done to the man whom the king has delight in honouring.
6:11 Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delights to honour.

6:12 And Mordecai came back to the king's doorway. But Haman went quickly back to his house, sad and with his head covered.
6:12 And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning, and having his head covered.

6:13 And Haman gave his wife Zeresh and all his friends an account of what had taken place. Then his wise men and his wife Zeresh said to him, If Mordecai, who is starting to get the better of you, is of the seed of the Jews, you will not be able to do anything against him, but you will certainly go down before him.
6:13 And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom you have begun to fall, you shall not prevail against him, but shall surely fall before him.

6:14 While they were still talking, the king's servants came to take Haman to the feast which Esther had made ready.
6:14 And while they were yet talking with him, came the king's chamberlains, and hasted to bring Haman unto the banquet that Esther had prepared.

7:1 So the king and Haman came to take wine with Esther the queen.
7:1 So the king and Haman came to banquet with Esther the queen.

7:2 And the king said to Esther again on the second day, while they were drinking, What is your prayer, Queen Esther? for it will be given to you; and what is your request? for it will be done, even to the half of my kingdom.
7:2 And the king said again unto Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, What is your petition, queen Esther? and it shall be granted you: and what is your request? and it shall be performed, even to the half of the kingdom.

7:3 Then Esther the queen, answering, said, If I have your approval, O king, and if it is the king's pleasure, let my life be given to me in answer to my prayer, and my people at my request:
7:3 Then Esther the queen answered and said, If I have found favour in your sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request:

7:4 For we are given up, I and my people, to destruction and death and to be cut off. If we had been taken as men-servants and women-servants for a price, I would have said nothing, for our trouble is little in comparison with the king's loss.
7:4 For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my tongue, although the enemy could not countervail the king's damage.

7:5 ¾ÆÇϼö¿¡·Î ¿ÕÀÌ ¿ÕÈÄ ¿¡½º´õ¿¡°Ô ÀÏ·¯ °¡·ÎµÇ °¨È÷ ÀÌ·± ÀÏÀ» ½ÉÁß¿¡ Ç°Àº ÀÚ°¡ ´©±¸¸ç ±×°¡ ¾îµð ÀÖ´À´¢
7:5 Then King Ahasuerus said to Esther the queen, Who is he and where is he who has had this evil thought in his heart?
7:5 Then the king Ahasuerus answered and said unto Esther the queen, Who is he, and where is he, that durst presume in his heart to do so?

7:6 And Esther said, Our hater and attacker is this evil Haman. Then Haman was full of fear before the king and the queen.
7:6 And Esther said, The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman. Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.

7:7 ¿ÕÀÌ ³ëÇÏ¿© ÀϾ¼­ ÀÜÄ¡ ÀÚ¸®¸¦ ¶°³ª ¿Õ±Ã ÈÄ¿øÀ¸·Î µé¾î°¡´Ï¶ó Çϸ¸ÀÌ ÀϾ¼­ ¿ÕÈÄ ¿¡½º´õ¿¡°Ô »ý¸íÀ» ±¸ÇÏ´Ï ÀÌ´Â ¿ÕÀÌ Àڱ⿡°Ô È­¸¦ ³»¸®±â·Î °á½ÉÇÑ ÁÙ ¾ÍÀÌ´õ¶ó
7:7 And the king in his wrath got up from the feast and went into the garden: and Haman got to his feet to make a prayer for his life to Esther the queen: for he saw that the king's purpose was evil against him.
7:7 And the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden: and Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king.

7:8 ¿ÕÀÌ ÈÄ¿øÀ¸·ÎºÎÅÍ ÀÜÄ¡ ÀÚ¸®¿¡ µ¹¾Æ¿À´Ï Çϸ¸ÀÌ ¿¡½º´õÀÇ ¾ÉÀº °É»ó À§¿¡ ¾þµå·È°Å´Ã ¿ÕÀÌ °¡·ÎµÇ Àú°¡ ±ÃÁß ³» ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ¿ÕÈĸ¦ °­°£±îÁö ÇÏ°íÀÚ Çϴ°¡ ÀÌ ¸»ÀÌ ¿ÕÀÇ ÀÔ¿¡¼­ ³ª¿À¸Å ¹«¸®°¡ Çϸ¸ÀÇ ¾ó±¼À» ½Î´õ¶ó
7:8 Then the king came back from the garden into the room where they had been drinking; and Haman was stretched out on the seat where Esther was. Then the king said, Is he taking the queen by force before my eyes in my house? And while the words were on the king's lips, they put a cloth over Haman's face.
7:8 Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman was fallen upon the bed whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of king's mouth, they covered Haman's face.

7:9 Then Harbonah, one of the unsexed servants waiting before the king, said, See, the pillar fifty cubits high, which Haman made for Mordecai, who said a good word for the king, is still in its place in Haman's house. Then the king said, Put him to death by hanging him on it.
7:9 And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who spoken good for the king, stands in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him thereon.

7:10 ¸ð¸£µå°³¸¦ ´Þ°íÀÚ ÇÑ ³ª¹«¿¡ Çϸ¸À» ´Ù´Ï ¿ÕÀÇ ³ë°¡ ±×Ä¡´Ï¶ó
7:10 So Haman was put to death by hanging him on the pillar he had made for Mordecai. Then the king's wrath became less.
7:10 So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath pacified.

8:1 ´çÀÏ¿¡ ¾ÆÇϼö¿¡·Î ¿ÕÀÌ À¯´ÙÀÎÀÇ ´ëÀû Çϸ¸ÀÇ ÁýÀ» ¿ÕÈÄ ¿¡½º´õ¿¡°Ô ÁÖ´Ï¶ó ¿¡½º´õ°¡ ¸ð¸£µå°³´Â Àڱ⿡°Ô ¾î¶»°Ô °ü°èµÊÀ» ¿Õ²² °íÇÑ °í·Î ¸ð¸£µå°³°¡ ¿ÕÀÇ ¾Õ¿¡ ³ª¾Æ¿À´Ï
8:1 That day the king gave all the family of Haman, the hater of the Jews, to Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king, for Esther had made clear what he was to her.
8:1 On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews' enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was unto her.

8:2 And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. And Esther put Mordecai over the family of Haman.
8:2 And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

8:3 Then Esther again came before the king, falling down at his feet, and made request to him with weeping, that he would put a stop to the evil purposes of Haman the Agagite and the designs which he had made against the Jews.
8:3 And Esther spoke yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and besought him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.

8:4 Then the king put out the rod of gold to Esther, and she got up before the king.
8:4 Then the king held out the golden sceptre toward Esther. So Esther arose, and stood before the king,

8:5 °¡·ÎµÇ ¿ÕÀÌ ¸¸ÀÏ Áñ°ÜÇÏ½Ã¸ç ³»°¡ ¿ÕÀÇ ¸ñÀü¿¡ ÀºÇý¸¦ ÀÔ¾ú°í ¶Ç ¿ÕÀÌ ÀÌ ÀÏÀ» ¼±È÷ ¿©±â½Ã¸ç ³ª¸¦ ±â»Ú°Ô º¸½ÇÁø´ë Á¶¼­¸¦ ³»¸®»ç ¾Æ°¢ »ç¶÷ ÇԹǴٴÙÀÇ ¾Æµé Çϸ¸ÀÌ ¿ÕÀÇ °¢ µµ¿¡ ÀÖ´Â À¯´ÙÀÎÀ» ¸êÇÏ·Á°í ²ÒÇÏ°í ¾´ Á¶¼­¸¦ Ãë¼ÒÇϼҼ­
8:5 And she said, If it is the king's pleasure and if I have his approval and this thing seems right to the king and I am pleasing to him, then let letters be sent giving orders against those which Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, sent out for the destruction of the Jews in all divisions of the kingdom:
8:5 And said, If it please the king, and if I have favour in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the king's provinces:

8:6 For how is it possible for me to see the evil which is to overtake my nation? how may I see the destruction of my people?
8:6 For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?

8:7 Then King Ahasuerus said to Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, See now, I have given Esther the family of Haman, and he has come to his death by hanging, because he made an attack on the Jews.
8:7 Then the king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.

8:8 So now send a letter about the Jews, writing whatever seems good to you, in the king's name, and stamping it with the king's ring: for a writing signed in the king's name and stamped with the king's ring may not be changed.
8:8 Write all of you also for the Jews, as it likes you, in the king's name, and seal it with the king's ring: for the writing which is written in the king's name, and sealed with the king's ring, may no man reverse.

8:9 Then at that time, on the twenty-third day of the third month, which is the month Sivan, the king's scribes were sent for; and everything ordered by Mordecai was put in writing and sent to the Jews and the captains and the rulers and the chiefs of all the divisions of the kingdom from India to Ethiopia, a hundred and twenty-seven divisions, to every division in the writing commonly used there, and to every people in their language, and to the Jews in their writing and their language.
8:9 Then were the king's scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth day thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.

8:10 The letters were sent in the name of King Ahasuerus and stamped with his ring, and they were taken by men on horseback, going on the quick-running horses used for the king's business, the offspring of his best horses:

8:11 In these letters the king gave authority to the Jews in every town to come together and make a fight for their lives, and to send death and destruction on the power of any people in any part of the kingdom attacking them or their children or their women, and to take their goods from them by force,
8:11 Wherein the king granted the Jews which were in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, both little ones and women, and to take the spoil of them for a prey,

8:13 A copy of the writing, to be made public as an order in every division of the kingdom, was given out to all the peoples, so that the Jews might be ready when that day came to give punishment to their haters.
8:13 The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, and that the Jews should be ready against that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.

8:14 So the men went out on the quick-running horses used on the king's business, wasting no time and forced on by the king's order; and the order was given out in Shushan, the king's town.
8:14 So the posts that rode upon mules and camels went out, being hastened and pressed on by the king's commandment. And the decree was given at Shushan the palace.

8:15 And Mordecai went out from before the king, dressed in king-like robes of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold and clothing of purple and the best linen: and all the town of Shushan gave loud cries of joy.

8:17 And in every part of the kingdom and in every town, wherever the king's letter and his order came, the Jews were glad with great joy, and had a feast and a good day. And a great number of the people of the land became Jews: for the fear of the Jews had come on them.

9:1 Now on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, when the time came for the king's order to be put into effect, on the very day when the haters of the Jews had been hoping to have rule over them; though the opposite had come about, and the Jews had rule over their haters;
9:1 Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king's commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them;)

9:2 On that day, the Jews came together in their towns through all the divisions of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, for the purpose of attacking all those who were attempting evil against them: and everyone had to give way before them, for the fear of them had come on all the peoples.
9:2 The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their hurt: and no man could withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all people.

9:10 The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the hater of the Jews; but they put not a hand on any of their goods.

9:12 And the king said to Esther the queen, The Jews have put five hundred men to death in Shushan, as well as the ten sons of Haman: what then have they done in the rest of the kingdom! Now what is your prayer? for it will be given to you; what other request have you? and it will be done.
9:12 And the king said unto Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of Haman; what have they done in the rest of the king's provinces? now what is your petition? and it shall be granted you: or what is your request further? and it shall be done.

9:13 Then Esther said, If it is the king's pleasure, let authority be given to the Jews in Shushan to do tomorrow as has been done today, and let orders be given for the hanging of Haman's ten sons.
9:13 Then said Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in Shushan to do tomorrow also according unto this day's decree, and let Haman's ten sons be hanged upon the gallows.

9:16 And the other Jews in every division of the kingdom came together, fighting for their lives, and got salvation from their haters and put seventy-five thousand of them to death; but they did not put a hand on their goods.

9:19 So the Jews of the country places living in unwalled towns make the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of feasting and joy and a good day, a day for sending offerings one to another.
9:19 Therefore the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the towns without protective walls, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another.

9:22 As days on which the Jews had rest from their haters, and the month which for them was turned from sorrow to joy, and from weeping to a good day: and that they were to keep them as days of feasting and joy, of sending offerings to one another and good things to the poor.

9:23 And the Jews gave their word to go on as they had been doing and as Mordecai had given them orders in writing;
9:23 And the Jews undertook to do as they had begun, and as Mordecai had written unto them;

9:24 Because Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the hater of all the Jews, had made designs for their destruction, attempting to get a decision by Pur (that is, chance) with a view to putting an end to them and cutting them off;
9:24 Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is, the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them;

9:25 But when the business was put before the king, he gave orders by letters that the evil design which he had made against the Jews was to be turned against himself; and that he and his sons were to be put to death by hanging.
9:25 But when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

9:26 So these days were named Purim, after the name of Pur. And so, because of the words of this letter, and of what they had seen in connection with this business, and what had come to them,
9:26 Wherefore they called these days Purim after the name of Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and which had come unto them,

9:27 The Jews made a rule and gave an undertaking, causing their seed and all those who were joined to them to do the same, so that it might be in force for ever, that they would keep those two days, as ordered in the letter, at the fixed time every year;
9:27 The Jews ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves unto them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to their writing, and according to their appointed time every year;

9:28 And that those days were to be kept in memory through every generation and every family, in every division of the kingdom and every town, that there might never be a time when these days of Purim would not be kept among the Jews, or when the memory of them would go from the minds of their seed.
9:28 And that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and that these days of Purim should not fail from among the Jews, nor the memorial of them perish from their seed.

9:29 Then Esther the queen, daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, sent a second letter giving the force of their authority to the order about the Purim.
9:29 Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim.

9:30 And he sent letters to all the Jews in the hundred and twenty-seven divisions of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, with true words of peace,

9:31 Giving the force of law to these days of Purim at their fixed times, as they had been ordered by Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen, and in keeping with the rules they had made for themselves and their seed, in connection with their time of going without food and their cry for help.
9:31 To confirm these days of Purim in their times appointed, according as Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen had commanded with authority them, and as they had decreed for themselves and for their seed, the matters of the fastings and their cry.

9:32 The order given by Esther gave the force of law to the rules about the Purim; and it was recorded in the book.
9:32 And the decree of Esther confirmed these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.

10:1 And King Ahasuerus put a tax on the land and on the islands of the sea.
10:1 And the king Ahasuerus laid a tribute upon the land, and upon the isles of the sea.

10:2 And all his acts of power and his great strength and the full story of the high place which the king gave Mordecai, are they not recorded in the book of the history of the kings of Media and Persia?
10:2 And all the acts of his power and of his might, and the declaration of the greatness of Mordecai, unto which the king advanced him, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia?

10:3 For Mordecai the Jew was second only to King Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews and respected by the body of his countrymen; working for the good of his people, and saying words of peace to all his seed.
10:3 For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.
