1:1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the
month, came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel, the son of
Shealtiel, ruler of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest,
saying,

1:2 These are the words of the Lord of armies: These people say, The time has not come
for building the Lord's house.
1:2 Thus speaks the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not
come, the time that the LORD's house should be built.

1:3 Then the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

1:4 Is it a time for you to be living in roofed houses while this house is a waste?
1:4 Is it time for you, O all of you, to dwell in your covered over houses,
and this house lie waste?

1:5 For this cause the Lord of armies has said, Give thought to your ways.
1:5 Now therefore thus says the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

1:6 Much has been planted, but little got in; you take food, but have not enough; you
take drink, but are not full; you are clothed, but no one is warm; and he who gets
payment for his work, gets it to put it into a bag full of holes.
1:6 All of you have sown much, and bring in little; all of you eat, but all
of you have not enough; all of you drink, but all of you are not filled with
drink; all of you clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earns wages
earns wages to put it into a bag with holes.

1:7 This is what the Lord of armies has said: Give thought to your ways.
1:7 Thus says the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

1:8 Go up to the hills and get wood and put up the house; and I will take pleasure in
it and be honoured, says the Lord.
1:8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will
take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, says the LORD.

1:9 You were looking for much, and it came to little; and when you got it into your
house, I took it away with a breath. Why? says the Lord of armies. Because of my
house which is a waste, while every man takes care of the house which is his.
1:9 All of you looked for much, and, lo it came to little; and when all of
you brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? says the LORD of hosts. Because
of mine house that is waste, and all of you run every man unto his own house.

1:10 For this cause the heaven over you is kept from giving dew, and the earth from giving
her fruit.
1:10 Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed
from her fruit.

1:11 And by my order no rain came on the land or on the mountains or the grain or the
wine or the oil or the produce of the earth or on men or cattle or on any work of
man's hands.
1:11 And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and
upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which
the ground brings forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour
of the hands.

1:12 Then Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high
priest, and all the rest of the people, gave ear to the voice of the Lord their
God and to the words of Haggai the prophet, because the Lord their God had sent
him, and the people were in fear before the Lord.
1:12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech,
the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the
LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had
sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.

1:13 Then Haggai, whom the Lord had sent to give his words to the people, said, I am
with you, says the Lord.
1:13 Then spoke Haggai the LORD's messenger in the LORD's message unto the
people, saying, I am with you, says the LORD.

1:14 And the spirit of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, ruler of Judah, was moved by
the Lord, as was the spirit of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and
the spirit of all the rest of the people; and they came and did work in the house
of the Lord of armies, their God.
1:14 And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel,
governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest,
and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work
in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,

1:15 On the twenty-fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second year of
Darius the king.
1:15 In the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year
of Darius the king.

2:1 In the seventh month, on the twenty-first day of the month, the word of the Lord
came by Haggai the prophet, saying,
2:1 In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came
the word of the LORD by the prophet Haggai, saying,
2:2 ³Ê´Â ½º¾Ëµð¿¤ÀÇ ¾Æµé À¯´Ù Ãѵ¶ ½º·ì¹Ùº§°ú ¿©È£»ç´ÚÀÇ ¾Æµé ´ëÁ¦»çÀå ¿©È£¼ö¾Æ¿Í

2:2 Say now to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, ruler of Judah, and to Joshua, the
son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the rest of the people,
2:2 Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and
to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people,
saying,
2:3 ³ÊÈñ Áß¿¡ ³²¾Æ ÀÖ´Â ÀÚ °ð ÀÌ ÀüÀÇ ÀÌÀü ¿µ±¤À» º» ÀÚ°¡ ´©±¸³Ä ÀÌÁ¦ ÀÌ°ÍÀÌ
³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ¾î¶»°Ô º¸ÀÌ´À³Ä ÀÌ°ÍÀÌ ³ÊÈñ ´«¿¡ º¸Àß °ÍÀÌ ¾øÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇϳÄ
2:3 Who is there still among you who saw this house in its first glory? and how do you
see it now? is it not in your eyes as nothing?
2:3 Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how
do all of you see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?

2:4 But now be strong, O Zerubbabel, says the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of
Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all you people of the land, says the
Lord, and get to work: for I am with you, says the Lord of armies:
2:4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, says the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua,
son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all you people of the land,
says the LORD, and work: for I am with you, says the LORD of hosts:
2:5 ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¾Ö±Á¿¡¼ ³ª¿Ã ¶§¿¡ ³»°¡ ³ÊÈñ¿Í ¾ð¾àÇÑ ¸»°ú ³ªÀÇ ½ÅÀÌ ¿ÀÈ÷·Á ³ÊÈñ
Áß¿¡ ¸Ó¹°·¯ ÀÖ³ª´Ï ³ÊÈñ´Â µÎ·Á¿öÇÏÁö ¸»Áö¾î´Ù
2:5 The agreement which I made with you when you came out of Egypt, and my spirit, are
with you still; have no fear.
2:5 According to the word that I covenanted with you when all of you came
out of Egypt, so my spirit remains among you: fear all of you not.

2:6 For this is what the Lord of armies has said: In a short time I will make a shaking
of the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land;
2:6 For thus says the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and
I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;
2:7 ¶ÇÇÑ ¸¸±¹À» Áøµ¿½Ãų °ÍÀÌ¸ç ¸¸±¹ÀÇ º¸¹è°¡ À̸£¸®´Ï ³»°¡ ¿µ±¤À¸·Î ÀÌ Àü¿¡

2:7 And I will make a shaking of all the nations, and the desired things of all nations
will come: and I will make this house full of my glory, says the Lord of armies.
2:7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come:
and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of hosts.

2:8 The silver is mine and the gold is mine, says the Lord of armies.

2:9 The second glory of this house will be greater than the first, says the Lord of
armies: and in this place I will give peace, says the Lord of armies.
2:9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, says
the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, says the LORD of hosts.

2:10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word
of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying,
2:10 In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year
of Darius, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,
2:11 ³ª ¸¸±ºÀÇ ¿©È£¿Í°¡ ¸»Çϳë´Ï ³Ê´Â Á¦»çÀå¿¡°Ô À²¹ý¿¡ ´ëÇÏ¿© ¹°¾î À̸£±â¸¦
2:11 These are the words of the Lord of armies: Put now a point of law to the priests,
saying,
2:11 Thus says the LORD of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law,
saying,
2:12 »ç¶÷ÀÌ ¿ÊÀÚ¶ô¿¡ °Å·èÇÑ °í±â¸¦ ½Õ´Âµ¥ ±× ¿ÊÀÚ¶ôÀÌ ¸¸ÀÏ ¶±¿¡³ª ±¹¿¡³ª

2:12 If anyone has some holy flesh folded in the skirt of his robe, will bread or soup
or wine or oil or any other food be made holy if touched by his skirt? And the priests
answering said, No.
2:12 If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt
do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any food, shall it be holy?
And the priests answered and said, No.
2:13 Çа³°¡ °¡·ÎµÇ ½Ãü¸¦ ¸¸Á®¼ ºÎÁ¤ÇÏ¿©Áø ÀÚ°¡ ¸¸ÀÏ ±×°Íµé Áß¿¡ Çϳª¸¦

2:13 Then Haggai said, Will any of these be made unclean by the touch of one who is unclean
through touching a dead body? And the priests answering said, It will be made unclean.
2:13 Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of
these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

2:14 Then Haggai said, So is this people and so is this nation before me, says the Lord;
and so is every work of their hands; and the offering they give there is unclean.
2:14 Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation
before me, says the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which
they offer there is unclean.

2:15 And now, give thought, looking back from this day to the time before one stone was
put on another in the Temple of the Lord:
2:15 And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before
a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD:

2:16 How, when anyone came to a store of twenty measures, there were only ten: when anyone
went to the wine-store to get fifty vessels full, there were only twenty.
2:16 Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures,
there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat in order to draw out fifty
vessels out of the press, there were but twenty.

2:17 And I sent burning and wasting and a rain of ice-drops on all the works of your
hands; but still you were not turned to me, says the Lord.
2:17 I stroke you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the
labours of your hands; yet all of you turned not to me, says the LORD.
2:18 ³ÊÈñ´Â ¿À´ÃºÎÅÍ ÀÌÀüÀ» Ãß¾ïÇÏ¿© º¸¶ó ±¸ ¿ù ÀÌ½Ê »ç ÀÏ °ð ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ Àü

2:18 And now, give thought; looking on from this day, from the twenty-fourth day of the
ninth month, from the time when the base of the Lord's house was put in its place,
give thought to it.
2:18 Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day
of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD's temple
was laid, consider it.

2:19 Is the seed still in the store-house? have the vine and the fig-tree, the pomegranate
and the olive-tree, still not given their fruit? from this day I will send my blessing
on you.
2:19 Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree,
and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, has not brought forth: from this day
will I bless you.

2:20 And the word of the Lord came a second time to Haggai, on the twenty-fourth day
of the month, saying,

2:21 Say to Zerubbabel, ruler of Judah, I will make a shaking of the heavens and the
earth,
2:21 Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens
and the earth;
2:22 ¿±¹ÀÇ º¸Á¸¦ ¾þÀ» °ÍÀÌ¿ä ¿¹æÀÇ ¼¼·ÂÀ» ¸êÇÒ °ÍÀÌ¿ä ±× º´°Åµé°ú ±× ź
ÀÚ¸¦ ¾þµå·¯¶ß¸®¸®´Ï ¸»°ú ±× ź ÀÚ°¡ °¢°¢ ±× µ¿¹«ÀÇ Ä®¿¡ ¾þµå·¯Áö¸®¶ó
2:22 Overturning the power of kingdoms; and I will send destruction on the strength of
the kingdoms of the nations; by me war-carriages will be overturned with those who
are in them; and the horses and the horsemen will come down, everyone by the sword
of his brother.
2:22 And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the
strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots,
and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down,
every one by the sword of his brother.

2:23 In that day, says the Lord of armies, I will take you, O Zerubbabel, my servant,
the son of Shealtiel, says the Lord, and will make you as a jewelled ring: for I
have taken you to be mine, says the Lord of armies.

my servant, the son of Shealtiel, says the LORD, and will make you as a signet:
