19:1 And it came about that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul, having gone through the higher country, came to Ephesus, where there were certain disciples:
19:1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,

19:2 And he said to them, Did you get the Holy Spirit when you had faith? And they said to him, No, we have had no knowledge of the Holy Spirit.
19:2 He said unto them, Have all of you received the Holy Spirit (o. pneuma) since all of you believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Spirit. (o. pneuma)

19:3 And he said, What sort of baptism did you have? And they said, The baptism of John.
19:3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were all of you baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

19:4 And Paul said, John gave a baptism which goes with a change of heart, saying to the people that they were to have faith in him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus.
19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

19:5 And hearing this, they had baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus.
19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

19:6 And when Paul had put his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they had the power of talking in tongues, and acting like prophets.
19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit (o. pneuma) came on them; and they spoke with tongues, and prophesied.

19:7 And there were about twelve of these men.
19:7 And all the men were about twelve.

19:8 And he went into the Synagogue, and for three months he was preaching there without fear, reasoning and teaching about the kingdom of God.
19:8 And he went into the synagogue, and spoke boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.

19:9 ¾î¶² »ç¶÷µéÀº ¸¶À½ÀÌ ±»¾î ¼øÁ¾Ä¡ ¾Ê°í ¹«¸® ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ÀÌ µµ¸¦ ºñ¹æÇÏ°Å´Ã ¹Ù¿ïÀÌ ±×µéÀ» ¶°³ª Á¦ÀÚµéÀ» µû·Î ¼¼¿ì°í µÎ¶õ³ë ¼­¿ø¿¡¼­ ³¯¸¶´Ù °­·ÐÇÏ¿©
19:9 But because some of the people were hard-hearted and would not give hearing, saying evil words about the Way before the people, he went away from them, and kept the disciples separate, reasoning every day in the school of Tyrannus.
19:9 But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spoke evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.

19:10 ÀÌ°°ÀÌ µÎ ÇØ µ¿¾ÈÀ» ÇϸŠ¾Æ½Ã¾Æ¿¡ »ç´Â ÀÚ´Â À¯´ëÀÎÀ̳ª Çï¶óÀÎÀ̳ª ´Ù ÁÖÀÇ ¸»¾¸À» µè´õ¶ó
19:10 And this went on for two years, so that all those who were living in Asia had knowledge of the word of the Lord, Greeks as well as Jews.
19:10 And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word (o. logos) of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

19:11 Çϳª´ÔÀÌ ¹Ù¿ïÀÇ ¼ÕÀ¸·Î ÈñÇÑÇÑ ´ÉÀ» ÇàÇÏ°Ô ÇϽôÏ
19:11 And God did special works of power by the hands of Paul:
19:11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:

19:12 ½ÉÁö¾î »ç¶÷µéÀÌ ¹Ù¿ïÀÇ ¸ö¿¡¼­ ¼Õ¼ö°ÇÀ̳ª ¾ÕÄ¡¸¶¸¦ °¡Á®´Ù°¡ º´µç »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô ¾ñÀ¸¸é ±× º´ÀÌ ¶°³ª°í ¾Ç±Íµµ ³ª°¡´õ¶ó
19:12 So that bits of linen and clothing from his body were taken to people who were ill, and their diseases went away from them and the evil spirits went out.
19:12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits (o. pneuma) went out of them.

19:13 But some of the Jews who went from place to place driving out evil spirits, took it on themselves to make use of the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, I give you orders, by Jesus, whom Paul is preaching.
19:13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits (o. pneuma) the name of the LORD Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.

19:14 And there were seven sons of a man named Sceva, a Jew and a chief priest, who did this.
19:14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.

19:15 ¾Ç±Í°¡ ´ë´äÇÏ¿© °¡·ÎµÇ ¿¹¼öµµ ³»°¡ ¾Ë°í ¹Ù¿ïµµ ³»°¡ ¾Ë°Å´Ï¿Í ³ÊÈñ´Â ´©±¸³Ä Çϸç
19:15 And the evil spirit, answering, said to them, I have knowledge of Jesus, and of Paul, but who are you?
19:15 And the evil spirit (o. pneuma) answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are all of you?

19:16 ¾Ç±Í µé¸° »ç¶÷ÀÌ ±× µÎ »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô ¶Ù¾î¿Ã¶ó ¾ïÁ¦ÇÏ¿© À̱â´Ï ÀúÈñ°¡ »óÇÏ¿© ¹þÀº ¸öÀ¸·Î ±× Áý¿¡¼­ µµ¸ÁÇÏ´ÂÁö¶ó
19:16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was, jumping on them, was stronger than the two of them, and overcame them, so that they went running from that house, wounded and without their clothing.
19:16 And the man in whom the evil spirit (o. pneuma) was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

19:17 And this came to the ears of all those, Jews and Greeks, who were living at Ephesus; and fear came on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was made great.
19:17 And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

19:18 ¹ÏÀº »ç¶÷µéÀÌ ¸¹ÀÌ ¿Í¼­ ÀÚº¹ÇÏ¿© ÇàÇÑ ÀÏÀ» °íÇϸç
19:18 And a number of those who had faith came and made a public statement of their sins and all their acts.
19:18 And many that believed came, and confessed, and showed their deeds.

19:19 ¶Ç ¸¶¼úÀ» ÇàÇÏ´ø ¸¹Àº »ç¶÷ÀÌ ±× Ã¥À» ¸ð¾Æ °¡Áö°í ¿Í¼­ ¸ðµç »ç¶÷ ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ºÒ»ç¸£´Ï ±× Ã¥ °ªÀ» °è»êÇÑÁï Àº ¿À¸¸À̳ª µÇ´õ¶ó
19:19 And a great number of those who were experts in strange arts took their books and put them on the fire in front of everyone: and when the books were valued they came to fifty thousand bits of silver.
19:19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.

19:20 ÀÌ¿Í °°ÀÌ ÁÖÀÇ ¸»¾¸ÀÌ ÈûÀÌ ÀÖ¾î Èï¿ÕÇÏ¿© ¼¼·ÂÀ» ¾òÀ¸´Ï¶ó
19:20 So the word of the Lord was increased very greatly and was full of power.
19:20 So mightily grew the word (o. logos) of God and prevailed.

19:21 ¡Û ÀÌ ÀÏÀÌ ´Ù µÈ ÈÄ ¹Ù¿ïÀÌ ¸¶°Ôµµ³Ä¿Í ¾Æ°¡¾ß·Î ´Ù³à¼­ ¿¹·ç»ì·½¿¡ °¡±â¸¦ °æ¿µÇÏ¿© °¡·ÎµÇ ³»°¡ °Å±â °¬´Ù°¡ ÈÄ¿¡ ·Î¸¶µµ º¸¾Æ¾ß Çϸ®¶ó ÇÏ°í
19:21 Now after these things were ended, Paul came to a decision that when he had gone through Macedonia and Achaia he would go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I have a desire to see Rome.
19:21 After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, (o. pneuma) when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.

19:22 Àڱ⸦ µ½´Â »ç¶÷ Áß¿¡¼­ µð¸ðµ¥¿Í ¿¡¶ó½ºµµ µÎ »ç¶÷À» ¸¶°Ôµµ³Ä·Î º¸³»°í ÀÚ±â´Â ¾Æ½Ã¾Æ¿¡ ¾ó¸¶°£ ´õ ÀÖÀ¸´Ï¶ó
19:22 And having sent two of his helpers, Timothy and Erastus, into Macedonia, he himself went on living in Asia for a time.
19:22 So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season.

19:23 ¡Û ±× ¶§Âë µÇ¾î ÀÌ µµ·Î ÀÎÇÏ¿© ÀûÁö ¾ÊÀº ¼Òµ¿ÀÌ ÀÖ¾úÀ¸´Ï
19:23 And about that time a great outcry took place about the Way.
19:23 And the same time there arose no small stir about that way.

19:24 Áï µ¥¸Þµå¸®¿À¶ó ÇÏ´Â ¾î¶² ÀºÀå»öÀÌ ¾Æµ¥¹ÌÀÇ Àº°¨½ÇÀ» ¸¸µé¾î Á÷°øµé·Î ÀûÁö ¾ÊÀº ¹úÀ̸¦ ÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ´õ´Ï
19:24 For there was a certain man named Demetrius, a silver-worker, who made silver boxes for the images of Diana, and gave no small profit to the workmen;
19:24 For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen;

19:25 ±×°¡ ±× Á÷°øµé°ú ÀÌ·¯ÇÑ ¿µ¾÷ÇÏ´Â ÀÚµéÀ» ¸ð¾Æ À̸£µÇ ¿©·¯ºÐµµ ¾Ë°Å´Ï¿Í ¿ì¸®ÀÇ À¯Á·ÇÑ »ýÈ°ÀÌ ÀÌ ¾÷¿¡ Àִµ¥
19:25 Whom he got together, with other workmen of the same trade, and said to them, Men, it is clear that from this business we get our wealth.
19:25 Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, all of you know that by this craft we have our wealth.

19:26 ÀÌ ¹Ù¿ïÀÌ ¿¡º£¼Ò»Ó ¾Æ´Ï¶ó °ÅÀÇ ¾Æ½Ã¾Æ ÀüºÎ¸¦ ÅëÇÏ¿© Çã´ÙÇÑ »ç¶÷À» ±ÇÀ¯ÇÏ¿© ¸»Ç쵂 »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¼ÕÀ¸·Î ¸¸µç °ÍµéÀº ½ÅÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï¶ó ÇÏ´Ï ÀÌ´Â ±×´ëµéµµ º¸°í µéÀº °ÍÀ̶ó
19:26 And you see, for it has come to your ears, that not only at Ephesus, but almost all through Asia, this Paul has been teaching numbers of people and turning them away, saying that those are not gods who are made by men's hands:
19:26 Moreover all of you see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:

19:27 ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ÀÌ ¿µ¾÷¸¸ õÇÏ¿©Áú À§ÇèÀÌ ÀÖÀ» »Ó ¾Æ´Ï¶ó Å« ¿©½Å ¾Æµ¥¹ÌÀÇ Àü°¢µµ °æȦÈ÷ ¿©±èÀÌ µÇ°í ¿Â ¾Æ½Ã¾Æ¿Í õÇÏ°¡ À§ÇÏ´Â ±×ÀÇ À§¾öµµ ¶³¾îÁú±î Çϳë¶ó ÇÏ´õ¶ó
19:27 And there is danger, not only that our trade may be damaged in the opinion of men, but that the holy place of the great goddess Diana may be no longer honoured, and that she to whom all Asia and the world give worship, will be put down from her high position.
19:27 So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nothing; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worships.

19:28 ÀúÈñ°¡ ÀÌ ¸»À» µè°í ºÐÀÌ °¡µæÇÏ¿© ¿ÜÃÄ °¡·ÎµÇ Å©´Ù ¿¡º£¼Ò »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¾Æµ¥¹Ì¿© ÇÏ´Ï
19:28 And hearing this, they were very angry, crying out and saying, Great is Diana of Ephesus.
19:28 And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.

19:29 ¿Â ¼ºÀÌ ¿ä¶õÇÏ¿© ¹Ù¿ï°ú °°ÀÌ ´Ù´Ï´Â ¸¶°Ôµµ³Ä »ç¶÷ °¡ÀÌ¿À¿Í ¾Æ¸®½º´Ù°í¸¦ Àâ¾Æ°¡Áö°í ÀÏÁ¦È÷ ¿¬±ØÀåÀ¸·Î ´Þ·Á µé¾î°¡´ÂÁö¶ó
19:29 And the town was full of noise and trouble, and they all came running into the theatre, having taken by force Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia who were journeying in company with Paul.
19:29 And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul's companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre.

19:30 ¹Ù¿ïÀÌ ¹é¼º °¡¿îµ¥·Î µé¾î°¡°íÀÚ Çϳª Á¦ÀÚµéÀÌ ¸»¸®°í
19:30 And when Paul was about to go in to the people, the disciples did not let him.
19:30 And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not.

19:31 ¶Ç ¾Æ½Ã¾Æ °ü¿ø Áß¿¡ ¹Ù¿ïÀÇ Ä£±¸ µÈ ¾î¶² À̵éÀÌ ±×¿¡°Ô ÅëÁöÇÏ¿© ¿¬±ØÀå¿¡ µé¾î°¡Áö ¸»¶ó ±ÇÇÏ´õ¶ó
19:31 And some of the rulers of Asia, being his friends, sent to him, requesting him seriously not to put himself in danger by going into the theatre.
19:31 And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theatre.

19:32 »ç¶÷µéÀÌ ¿ÜÃÄ È¤Àº ÀÌ ¸»À» ȤÀº Àú ¸»À» ÇÏ´Ï ¸ðÀÎ ¹«¸®°¡ ºÐ¶õÇÏ¿© ŹÝÀ̳ª ¾îÂîÇÏ¿© ¸ð¿´´ÂÁö ¾ËÁö ¸øÇÏ´õ¶ó
19:32 And some said one thing, and some another: for there was no order in the meeting; and most of them had no idea why they had come together.
19:32 Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was confused: and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.

19:33 Then they took Alexander out from among the people, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander, making a sign with his hand, was about to make a statement to the people in answer:
19:33 And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made his defence unto the people.

19:34 ÀúÈñ´Â ±×°¡ À¯´ëÀÎÀÎ ÁÙ ¾Ë°í ´Ù ÇÑ ¼Ò¸®·Î ¿ÜÃÄ °¡·ÎµÇ Å©´Ù ¿¡º£¼Ò »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¾Æµ¥¹Ì¿© Çϱ⸦ µÎ ½Ã µ¿¾ÈÀ̳ª ÇÏ´õ´Ï
19:34 But when they saw that he was a Jew, all of them with one voice went on crying out for about two hours, Great is Diana of Ephesus.
19:34 But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.

19:35 ¼­±âÀåÀÌ ¹«¸®¸¦ ¾Èµ·½ÃÅ°°í À̸£µÇ ¿¡º£¼Ò »ç¶÷µé¾Æ ¿¡º£¼Ò ¼ºÀÌ Å« ¾Æµ¥¹Ì¿Í ¹× ¾²½º¿¡°Ô¼­ ³»·Á¿Â ¿ì»óÀÇ Àü°¢Áö±â°¡ µÈ ÁÙÀ» ´©°¡ ¾ËÁö ¸øÇÏ°Ú´À³Ä
19:35 And when the chief secretary had got the people quiet, he said, Men of Ephesus, is any man without knowledge that the town of Ephesus is the keeper of the holy place of the great Diana, who was sent down from Jupiter?
19:35 And when the public clerk had appeased the people, he said, All of you men of Ephesus, what man is there that knows not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?

19:36 ÀÌ ÀÏÀÌ ±×·¸Áö ¾Ê´Ù ÇÒ ¼ö ¾øÀ¸´Ï ³ÊÈñ°¡ °¡¸¸È÷ À־ ¹«¾ùÀ̵çÁö °æ¼ÖÈ÷ ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿©¾ß Çϸ®¶ó
19:36 So then, because these things may not be doubted, it would be better for you to be quiet, and do nothing unwise.
19:36 Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, all of you ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.

19:37 For you have taken these men, who are not doing damage to the holy place or talking against our goddess.
19:37 For all of you have brought here these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess.

19:38 ¸¸ÀÏ µ¥¸Þµå¸®¿À¿Í ¹× ±×¿Í ÇÔ²² ÀÖ´Â Á÷°øµéÀÌ ´©±¸¿¡°Ô ¼Û»çÇÒ °ÍÀÌ Àְŵç ÀçÆÇ ³¯µµ ÀÖ°í Ãѵ¶µéµµ ÀÖÀ¸´Ï ÇÇÂ÷ °í¼ÒÇÒ °ÍÀÌ¿ä
19:38 If, then, Demetrius and the workmen who are with him have a protest to make against any man, the law is open to them, and there are judges; let them put up a cause at law against one another.
19:38 Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter (o. logos) against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them sue one another.

19:39 But if any other business is in question, let it be taken up in the regular meeting.
19:39 But if all of you enquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.

19:40 For, truly, we are in danger of being made responsible for this day's trouble, there being no cause for it: and we are not able to give any reason for this coming together.
19:40 For we are in danger to be called in question for this day's uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account (o. logos) of this concourse.

20:1 And after the noise had come to an end, Paul, having sent for the disciples and given them comfort, went away from them to Macedonia.
20:1 And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed in order to go into Macedonia.

20:2 And when he had gone through those parts and given them much teaching, he came into Greece.

20:3 And when he had been there three months, because the Jews had made a secret design against him when he was about to take ship for Syria, he made a decision to go back through Macedonia.
20:3 And there abode three months. And when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia.

20:4 And Sopater of Beroea, the son of Pyrrhus, and Aristarchus and Secundus of Thessalonica, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia, went with him as far as Asia.
20:4 And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.

20:5 But these had gone before, and were waiting for us at Troas.
20:5 These going before tarried for us at Troas.

20:6 And we went away from Philippi by ship after the days of unleavened bread, and came to them at Troas in five days; and we were there for seven days.
20:6 And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.

20:7 And on the first day of the week, when we had come together for the holy meal, Paul gave them a talk, for it was his purpose to go away on the day after; and he went on talking till after the middle of the night.
20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the next day; and continued his speech (o. logos) until midnight.

20:8 And there were a number of lights in the room where we had come together.

20:9 And a certain young man named Eutychus, who was seated in the window, went into a deep sleep; and while Paul went on talking, being overcome by sleep, he had a fall from the third floor, and was taken up dead.
20:9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third upper room, and was taken up dead.

20:10 And Paul went down and, falling on him, took him in his arms and said, Do not be troubled, for his life is in him.

20:13 But we, going before him by ship, went to Assos with the purpose of taking Paul in there: for so he had given orders, because he himself was coming by land.
20:13 And we went on board ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go on foot.

20:15 And going from there by sea, we came on the day after opposite Chios, and touching at Samos on the day after that, we came on the third day to Miletus.
20:15 And we sailed thence, and came the next day opposite to Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus.

20:16 For Paul's purpose was to go past Ephesus, so that he might not be kept in Asia; for he was going quickly, in order, if possible, to be at Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.
20:16 For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

20:18 And when they had come, he said to them, You yourselves have seen what my life has been like all the time from the day when I first came into Asia,
20:18 And when they were come to him, he said unto them, All of you know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

20:19 Doing the Lord's work without pride, through all the sorrow and troubles which came on me because of the evil designs of the Jews:
20:19 Serving the LORD with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

20:20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have showed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house,

20:21 Preaching to Jews and to Greeks the need for a turning of the heart to God, and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

20:22 And now, as you see, I am going to Jerusalem, a prisoner in spirit, having no knowledge of what will come to me there:
20:22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit (o. pneuma) unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

20:23 Only that the Holy Spirit makes clear to me in every town that prison and pains are waiting for me.

20:24 But I put no value on my life, if only at the end of it I may see the work complete which was given to me by the Lord Jesus, to be a witness of the good news of the grace of God.
20:24 But none of these things (o. logos) move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

20:25 And now, behold, I know that all of you all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.

20:28 Give attention to yourselves, and to all the flock which the Holy Spirit has given into your care, to give food to the church of God, for which he gave his blood.
20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Spirit (o. pneuma) has made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he has purchased with his own blood.

20:30 And from among yourselves will come men who will give wrong teaching, turning away the disciples after them.
20:30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

20:31 So keep watch, having in mind that for three years without resting I was teaching every one of you, day and night, with weeping.
20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word (o. logos) of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

20:35 In all things I was an example to you of how, in your lives, you are to give help to the feeble, and keep in memory the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, There is a greater blessing in giving than in getting.
20:35 I have showed you all things, how that so labouring all of you ought to support the weak, and to remember the words (o. logos) of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

21:1 And it came to pass, that after we were got from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos, and the day following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara:

21:3 And when we had come in view of Cyprus, going past it on our left, we went on to Syria, and came to land at Tyre: for there the goods which were in the ship had to be taken out.
21:3 Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to unload her burden.

21:4 And meeting the disciples we were there for seven days: and they gave Paul orders through the Spirit not to go up to Jerusalem.
21:4 And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, (o. pneuma) that he should not go up to Jerusalem.

21:5 And when these days came to an end, we went on our journey; and they all, with their wives and children, came with us on our way till we were out of the town: and after going on our knees in prayer by the sea,
21:5 And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.

21:6 ¼­·Î ÀÛº°ÇÑ ÈÄ ¿ì¸®´Â ¹è¿¡ ¿À¸£°í ÀúÈñ´Â ÁýÀ¸·Î µ¹¾Æ°¡´Ï¶ó
21:6 We said our last words to one another, and got into the ship, and they went back to their houses.
21:6 And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again.

21:7 ¡Û µÎ·Î·ÎºÎÅÍ ¼ö·Î¸¦ ´Ù ÇàÇÏ¿© µ¹·¹¸¶ÀÌ¿¡ À̸£·¯ ÇüÁ¦µé¿¡°Ô ¾ÈºÎ¸¦ ¹¯°í ±×µé°ú ÇÔ²² ÇϷ縦 ÀÖ´Ù°¡
21:7 And journeying by ship from Tyre we came to Ptolemais; and there we had talk with the brothers and were with them for one day.
21:7 And when we had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day.

21:8 And on the day after, we went away and came to Caesarea, where we were guests in the house of Philip, the preacher, who was one of the seven.
21:8 And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.

21:9 And he had four daughters, virgins, who were prophets.
21:9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.

21:10 And while we were waiting there for some days, a certain prophet, named Agabus, came down from Judaea.
21:10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.

21:11 And he came to us, and took the band of Paul's clothing, and putting it round his feet and hands, said, The Holy Spirit says these words, So will the Jews do to the man who is the owner of this band, and they will give him up into the hands of the Gentiles.
21:11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus says the Holy Spirit, (o. pneuma) So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owns this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.

21:12 And hearing these things, we and those who were living in that place made request to him not to go to Jerusalem.
21:12 And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.

21:13 Then Paul said, What are you doing, weeping and wounding my heart? for I am ready, not only to be a prisoner, but to be put to death at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
21:13 Then Paul answered, What mean all of you to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

21:14 And as he might not be moved we did no more, saying, Let the purpose of God be done.
21:14 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

21:15 And after these days we got ready and went up to Jerusalem.
21:15 And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.

21:16 And some of the disciples from Caesarea went with us, taking a certain Mnason of Cyprus, one of the early disciples, in whose house we were to be living.
21:16 There went with us also certain of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.

21:17 And when we came to Jerusalem, the brothers were pleased to see us.
21:17 And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.

21:18 And on the day after, Paul went with us to James, and all the rulers of the church were present.
21:18 And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.

21:19 And when he had said how glad he was to see them, he gave them a detailed account of the things which God had done through his work among the Gentiles.
21:19 And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.

21:20 And hearing it, they gave praise to God; and they said to him, You see, brother, what thousands there are among the Jews, who have the faith; and they all have a great respect for the law:
21:20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:

21:21 ³×°¡ À̹濡 ÀÖ´Â ¸ðµç À¯´ëÀÎÀ» °¡¸£Ä¡µÇ ¸ð¼¼°¡ ¹è¹ÝÇÏ°í ¾Æµéµé¿¡°Ô Çҷʸ¦ ÇÏÁö ¸»°í ¶Ç ±Ô¸ð¸¦ ÁöÅ°Áö ¸»¶ó ÇÑ´Ù ÇÔÀ» ÀúÈñ°¡ µé¾úµµ´Ù
21:21 And they have had news of you, how you have been teaching all the Jews among the Gentiles to give up the law of Moses, and not to give circumcision to their children, and not to keep the old rules.
21:21 And they are informed of you, that you teach all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.

21:22 ±×·¯¸é ¾îÂîÇÒ²¿ ÀúÈñ°¡ ÇÊ¿¬ ±×´ëÀÇ ¿Â °ÍÀ» µéÀ¸¸®´Ï
21:22 What then is the position? They will certainly get news that you have come.
21:22 What is it therefore? the multitude must essentially come together: for they will hear that you are come.

21:23 ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ¸»ÇÏ´Â ÀÌ´ë·Î ÇÏ¶ó ¼­¿øÇÑ ³× »ç¶÷ÀÌ ¿ì¸®¿¡°Ô ÀÖÀ¸´Ï
21:23 Do this, then, which we say to you: We have four men who have taken an oath;
21:23 Do therefore this that we say to you: We have four men which have a vow on them;

21:24 ÀúÈñ¸¦ µ¥¸®°í ÇÔ²² °á·Ê¸¦ ÇàÇÏ°í ÀúÈñ¸¦ À§ÇÏ¿© ºñ¿ëÀ» ³»¾î ¸Ó¸®¸¦ ±ð°Ô Ç϶ó ±×·¯¸é ¸ðµç »ç¶÷ÀÌ ±×´ë¿¡°Ô ´ëÇÏ¿© µéÀº °ÍÀÌ ÇêµÈ °ÍÀÌ°í ±×´ë·Î À²¹ýÀ» ÁöÄÑ ÇàÇÏ´Â ÁÙ·Î ¾Ë °ÍÀ̶ó
21:24 Go with these, and make yourself clean with them, and make the necessary payments for them, so that they may be free from their oath: and everyone will see that the statements made about you are not true, but that you put yourself under rule, and keep the law.
21:24 Them take, and purify yourself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning you, are nothing; but that you yourself also walk orderly, and keep the law.

21:25 But as to the Gentiles who have the faith, we sent a letter, giving our decision that they were to keep themselves from offerings made to false gods, and from blood, and from the flesh of animals put to death in ways against the law, and from the evil desires of the body.
21:25 As concerning the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.

21:26 Then Paul took the men, and on the day after, making himself clean with them, he went into the Temple, giving out the statement that the days necessary for making them clean were complete, till the offering was made for every one of them.
21:26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.

21:27 And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews from Asia, seeing him in the Temple, got the people together and put their hands on him,
21:27 And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,

21:28 Crying out, Men of Israel, come to our help: this is the man who is teaching all men everywhere against the people and the law and this place: and in addition, he has taken Greeks into the Temple, and made this holy place unclean.
21:28 Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teaches all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and has polluted this holy place.

21:29 For they had seen him before in the town with Trophimus of Ephesus, and had the idea that Paul had taken him with him into the Temple.
21:29 (For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)

21:30 And all the town was moved, and the people came running together and put their hands on Paul, pulling him out of the Temple: and then the doors were shut.
21:30 And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.

21:31 And while they were attempting to put him to death, news came to the chief captain of the band that all Jerusalem was out of control.
21:31 And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.

21:32 And straight away he took some armed men and went quickly down to them: and the Jews, seeing them, gave no more blows to Paul.
21:32 Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul.

21:33 Then the chief captain came near and took him, and gave orders for him to be put in chains, questioning them as to who he was and what he had done.
21:33 Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.

21:34 And some said one thing and some another, among the people: and as he was not able to get a knowledge of the facts because of the noise, he gave orders for Paul to be taken into the army building.
21:34 And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.

21:35 And when he came on to the steps, he was lifted up by the armed men, because of the force of the people;
21:35 And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.

21:36 ÀÌ´Â ¹é¼ºÀÇ ¹«¸®°¡ ±×¸¦ ¾øÀÌ ÇÏÀÚ°í ¿ÜÄ¡¸ç µû¶ó °¨ÀÌ·¯¶ó
21:36 For a great mass of people came after them, crying out, Away with him!
21:36 For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.

21:37 And when Paul was about to be taken into the building, he said to the chief captain, May I say something to you? And he said, Have you a knowledge of Greek?
21:37 And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto you? Who said, Can you speak Greek?

21:38 Are you by chance the Egyptian who, before this, got the people worked up against the government and took four thousand men of the Assassins out into the waste land?
21:38 Are not you that Egyptian, which before these days made an uproar, and led out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?

21:39 But Paul said, I am a Jew of Tarsus in Cilicia, which is not an unimportant town: I make a request to you to let me say a word to the people.
21:39 But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I plead to you, suffer me to speak unto the people.

21:40 And when he let him do so, Paul, from the steps, made a sign with his hand to the people, and when they were all quiet, he said to them in the Hebrew language,
21:40 And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spoke unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,

22:1 ºÎÇüµé¾Æ ³»°¡ Áö±Ý ³ÊÈñ ¾Õ¿¡¼­ º¯¸íÇÏ´Â ¸»À» µéÀ¸¶ó ÇÏ´õ¶ó
22:1 My brothers and fathers, give ear to the story of my life which I now put before you.
22:1 Men, brethren, and fathers, hear all of you my defence which I make now unto you.

22:2 ÀúÈñ°¡ ±× È÷ºê¸® ¹æ¾ðÀ¸·Î ¸»ÇÔÀ» µè°í ´õ¿í Á¾¿ëÇÑÁö¶ó ÀÌ¾î °¡·ÎµÇ
22:2 And, hearing him talking in the Hebrew language, they became the more quiet, and he said,
22:2 (And when they heard that he spoke in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he says,)

22:3 ³ª´Â À¯´ëÀÎÀ¸·Î ±æ¸®±â¾Æ ´Ù¼Ò¿¡¼­ ³µ°í ÀÌ ¼º¿¡¼­ ÀÚ¶ó °¡¸»¸®¿¤ÀÇ ¹®ÇÏ¿¡¼­ ¿ì¸® Á¶»óµéÀÇ À²¹ýÀÇ ¾öÇÑ ±³ÈÆÀ» ¹Þ¾Ò°í ¿À´Ã ³ÊÈñ ¸ðµç »ç¶÷ó·³ Çϳª´Ô²² ´ëÇÏ¿© ¿­½ÉÇÏ´Â ÀÚ¶ó
22:3 I am a Jew of Tarsus in Cilicia by birth, but I had my education in this town at the feet of Gamaliel, being trained in the keeping of every detail of the law of our fathers; given up to the cause of God with all my heart, as you are today.
22:3 I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as all of you all are this day.

22:4 ³»°¡ ÀÌ µµ¸¦ Ç̹ÚÇÏ¿© »ç¶÷À» Á×À̱â±îÁö ÇÏ°í ³²³à¸¦ °á¹ÚÇÏ¿© ¿Á¿¡ ³Ñ°å³ë´Ï
22:4 And I made attacks on this Way, even to death, taking men and women and putting them in prison.
22:4 And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.

22:5 ÀÌ¿¡ ´ëÁ¦»çÀå°ú ¸ðµç Àå·ÎµéÀÌ ³» ÁõÀÎÀ̶ó ¶Ç ³»°¡ ÀúÈñ¿¡°Ô¼­ ´Ù¸Þ¼½ ÇüÁ¦µé¿¡°Ô °¡´Â °ø¹®À» ¹Þ¾Æ °¡Áö°í °Å±â ÀÖ´Â Àڵ鵵 °á¹ÚÇÏ¿© ¿¹·ç»ì·½À¸·Î ²ø¾î´Ù°¡ Çü¹ú ¹Þ°Ô ÇÏ·Á°í °¡´õ´Ï
22:5 Of which the high priest will be a witness, and all the rulers, from whom I had letters to the brothers; and I went into Damascus, to take those who were there as prisoners to Jerusalem for punishment.
22:5 As also the high priest does bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, in order to be punished.

22:6 °¡´Âµ¥ ´Ù¸Þ¼½¿¡ °¡±î¿ÔÀ» ¶§¿¡ ¿ÀÁ¤Âë µÇ¾î Ȧ¿¬È÷ Çϴ÷μ­ Å« ºûÀÌ ³ª¸¦ µÑ·¯ ºñÃë¸Å
22:6 And it came about that while I was on my journey, coming near to Damascus, about the middle of the day, suddenly I saw a great light from heaven shining round me.
22:6 And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.

22:7 ³»°¡ ¶¥¿¡ ¾þµå·¯Á® µéÀ¸´Ï ¼Ò¸® ÀÖ¾î °¡·ÎµÇ »ç¿ï¾Æ »ç¿ï¾Æ ³×°¡ ¿Ö ³ª¸¦ Ç̹ÚÇÏ´À³Ä ÇϽðŴÃ
22:7 And when I went down on the earth, a voice came to my ears saying to me, Saul, Saul, why are you attacking me so cruelly?
22:7 And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecute you me?

22:8 ³»°¡ ´ë´äÇ쵂 ÁÖ¿© ´µ½Ã´ÏÀ̱î ÇÏ´Ï °¡¶ó»ç´ë ³ª´Â ³×°¡ Ç̹ÚÇÏ´Â ³ª»ç·¿ ¿¹¼ö¶ó ÇϽôõ¶ó
22:8 And I, answering, said, Who are you; Lord? And he said to me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are attacking.
22:8 And I answered, Who are you, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you persecute.

22:9 ³ª¿Í ÇÔ²² ÀÖ´Â »ç¶÷µéÀÌ ºûÀº º¸¸é¼­µµ ³ª´õ·¯ ¸»ÇϽô ÀÌÀÇ ¼Ò¸®´Â µèÁö ¸øÇÏ´õ¶ó
22:9 And those who were with me saw the light, but the voice of him who was talking to me came not to their ears.
22:9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spoke to me.

22:10 ³»°¡ °¡·ÎµÇ ÁÖ¿© ¹«¾ùÀ» Çϸ®À̱î ÁÖ²²¼­ °¡¶ó»ç´ë ÀϾ ´Ù¸Þ¼½À¸·Î µé¾î°¡¶ó Á¤ÇÑ ¹Ù ³ÊÀÇ ¸ðµç ÇàÇÒ °ÍÀ» °Å±â¼­ ´©°¡ À̸£¸®¶ó ÇϽðŴÃ
22:10 And I said, What have I to do, Lord? And the Lord said to me, Get up, and go into Damascus; and it will be made clear to you what you have to do.
22:10 And I said, What shall I do, LORD? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told you of all things which are appointed for you to do.

22:11 ³ª´Â ±× ºûÀÇ ±¤Ã¤¸¦ ÀÎÇÏ¿© º¼ ¼ö ¾ø°Ô µÇ¾úÀ¸¹Ç·Î ³ª¿Í ÇÔ²² ÀÖ´Â »ç¶÷µéÀÇ ¼Õ¿¡ ²ø·Á ´Ù¸Þ¼½¿¡ µé¾î°¬³ë¶ó
22:11 And because I was unable to see because of the glory of that light, those who were with me took me by the hand, and so I came to Damascus.
22:11 And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.

22:12 À²¹ý¿¡ ÀÇÇÏ¸é °æ°ÇÇÑ »ç¶÷À¸·Î °Å±â »ç´Â ¸ðµç À¯´ëÀε鿡°Ô ĪÂùÀ» µè´Â ¾Æ³ª´Ï¾Æ¶ó ÇÏ´Â ÀÌ°¡
22:12 And one Ananias, a God-fearing man, who kept the law, and of whom all the Jews in that place had a high opinion,
22:12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,

22:13 ³»°Ô ¿Í °ç¿¡ ¼­¼­ ¸»Ç쵂 ÇüÁ¦ »ç¿ï¾Æ ´Ù½Ã º¸¶ó ÇÏ°Å´Ã Áï½Ã ±×¸¦ ÃÄ´Ùº¸¾Ò³ë¶ó
22:13 Came to my side and said, Brother Saul, let your eyes be open. And in that very hour I was able to see him.
22:13 Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive your sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.

22:14 ±×°¡ ¶Ç °¡·ÎµÇ ¿ì¸® Á¶»óµéÀÇ Çϳª´ÔÀÌ ³Ê¸¦ ÅÃÇÏ¿© ³Ê·Î ÇÏ¿©±Ý Àڱ⠶æÀ» ¾Ë°Ô ÇϽøç Àú ÀÇÀÎÀ» º¸°Ô ÇÏ½Ã°í ±× ÀÔ¿¡¼­ ³ª¿À´Â À½¼ºÀ» µè°Ô ÇϼÌÀ¸´Ï
22:14 And he said, You have been marked out by the God of our fathers to have knowledge of his purpose, and to see the Upright One and to give ear to the words of his mouth.
22:14 And he said, The God of our fathers has chosen you, that you should know his will, and see that Just One, and should hear the voice of his mouth.

22:15 ³×°¡ ±×¸¦ À§ÇÏ¿© ¸ðµç »ç¶÷ ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ³ÊÀÇ º¸°í µéÀº °Í¿¡ ÁõÀÎÀÌ µÇ¸®¶ó
22:15 For you will be a witness for him to all men of what you have seen and of what has come to your ears.
22:15 For you shall be his witness unto all men of what you have seen and heard.

22:16 ÀÌÁ¦´Â ¿Ö ÁÖÀúÇÏ´À´¢ ÀϾ ÁÖÀÇ À̸§À» ºÒ·¯ ¼¼·Ê¸¦ ¹Þ°í ³ÊÀÇ Á˸¦ ¾ÄÀ¸¶ó ÇÏ´õ¶ó
22:16 And now, why are you waiting? get up, and have baptism, for the washing away of your sins, giving worship to his name.
22:16 And now why tarry you? arise, and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

22:17 ÈÄ¿¡ ³»°¡ ¿¹·ç»ì·½À¸·Î µ¹¾Æ¿Í¼­ ¼ºÀü¿¡¼­ ±âµµÇÒ ¶§¿¡ ºñ¸ù»ç¸ù°£¿¡
22:17 And it came about that when I had come back to Jerusalem, while I was at prayer in the Temple, my senses became more than naturally clear,
22:17 And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;

22:18 º¸¸Å ÁÖ²²¼­ ³»°Ô ¸»¾¸ÇÏ½ÃµÇ ¼ÓÈ÷ ¿¹·ç»ì·½¿¡¼­ ³ª°¡¶ó ÀúÈñ´Â ³×°¡ ³»°Ô ´ëÇÏ¿© Áõ°ÅÇÏ´Â ¸»À» µèÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇϸ®¶ó ÇϽðŴÃ
22:18 And I saw him saying to me, Go out of Jerusalem straight away because they will not give hearing to your witness about me.
22:18 And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get you quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive your testimony concerning me.

22:19 ³»°¡ ¸»Çϱ⸦ ÁÖ¿© ³»°¡ ÁÖ ¹Ï´Â »ç¶÷µéÀ» °¡µÎ°í ¶Ç °¢ ȸ´ç¿¡¼­ ¶§¸®°í
22:19 And I said, Lord, they themselves have knowledge that I went through the Synagogues putting in prison and whipping all those who had faith in you:
22:19 And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on you:

22:20 ¶Ç ÁÖÀÇ ÁõÀÎ ½ºµ¥¹ÝÀÇ ÇǸ¦ È긱 Àû¿¡ ³»°¡ °ç¿¡ ¼­¼­ Âù¼ºÇÏ°í ±× Á×ÀÌ´Â »ç¶÷µéÀÇ ¿ÊÀ» ÁöŲ ÁÙ ÀúÈñµµ ¾Æ³ªÀÌ´Ù
22:20 And when Stephen your witness was put to death, I was there, giving approval, and looking after the clothing of those who put him to death.
22:20 And when the blood of your martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.

22:21 ³ª´õ·¯ ¶Ç À̸£½ÃµÇ ¶°³ª°¡¶ó ³»°¡ ³Ê¸¦ ¸Ö¸® À̹æÀο¡°Ô·Î º¸³»¸®¶ó Çϼ̴À´Ï¶ó
22:21 And he said to me, Go, for I will send you far away to the Gentiles.
22:21 And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send you far behind unto the Gentiles.

22:22 ÀÌ ¸»ÇÏ´Â °Í±îÁö ÀúÈñ°¡ µè´Ù°¡ ¼Ò¸® Áú·¯ °¡·ÎµÇ ÀÌ·¯ÇÑ ³ðÀº ¼¼»ó¿¡¼­ ¾øÀÌ ÇÏÀÚ »ì·Á µÑ ÀÚ°¡ ¾Æ´Ï¶ó ÇÏ¿©
22:22 And they gave him a hearing as far as this word; then with loud voices they said, Away with this man from the earth; it is not right for him to be living.
22:22 And they gave him audience unto this word, (o. logos) and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

22:23 ¶°µé¸ç ¿ÊÀ» ¹þ¾î ´øÁö°í Ƽ²øÀ» °øÁß¿¡ ³¯¸®´Ï
22:23 And while they were crying out, and pulling off their clothing, and sending dust into the air,
22:23 And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air,

22:24 õºÎÀåÀÌ ¹Ù¿ïÀ» ¿µ¹® ¾ÈÀ¸·Î µ¥·Á°¡¶ó ¸íÇÏ°í ÀúÈñ°¡ ¹«½¼ ÀÏ·Î ±×¸¦ ´ëÇÏ¿© ¶°µå³ª ¾Ë°íÀÚ ÇÏ¿© äÂïÁúÇÏ¸ç ½Å¹®Ç϶ó ÇÑ ´ë
22:24 The chief captain gave orders for him to be taken into the army building, saying that he would put him to the test by whipping, so that he might have knowledge of the reason why they were crying out so violently against him.
22:24 The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know wherefore they cried so against him.

22:25 °¡Á× ÁÙ·Î ¹Ù¿ïÀ» ¸Å´Ï ¹Ù¿ïÀÌ °ç¿¡ ¼¹´Â ¹éºÎÀå´õ·¯ À̸£µÇ ³ÊÈñ°¡ ·Î¸¶ »ç¶÷ µÈ ÀÚ¸¦ Á˵µ Á¤Ä¡ ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ°í äÂïÁúÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖ´À³Ä ÇÏ´Ï
22:25 And when they had put leather bands round him, Paul said to the captain who was present, Is it the law for you to give blows to a man who is a Roman and has not been judged?
22:25 And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?

22:26 ¹éºÎÀåÀÌ µè°í °¡¼­ õºÎÀå¿¡°Ô ÀüÇÏ¿© °¡·ÎµÇ ¾îÂîÇÏ·Á ÇÏ´À´¢ ÀÌ´Â ·Î¸¶ »ç¶÷À̶ó ÇÏ´Ï
22:26 And hearing this, the man went to the chief captain and gave him an account of it, saying, What are you about to do? for this man is a Roman.
22:26 When the centurion heard that, he went and told the chief captain, saying, Take heed what you do: for this man is a Roman.

22:27 õºÎÀåÀÌ ¿Í¼­ ¹Ù¿ï¿¡°Ô ¸»Ç쵂 ³×°¡ ·Î¸¶ »ç¶÷ÀÌ³Ä ³»°Ô ¸»ÇÏ¶ó °¡·ÎµÇ ±×·¯ÇÏ´Ù
22:27 And the chief captain came to him and said, Give me an answer, are you a Roman? And he said, Yes.
22:27 Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, are you a Roman? He said, Yea.

22:28 õºÎÀåÀÌ ´ë´äÇ쵂 ³ª´Â µ·À» ¸¹ÀÌ µé¿© ÀÌ ½Ã¹Î±ÇÀ» ¾ò¾ú³ë¶ó ¹Ù¿ïÀÌ °¡·ÎµÇ ³ª´Â ³ª¸é¼­ºÎÅͷζó ÇÏ´Ï
22:28 And the chief captain said, I got Roman rights for myself at a great price. And Paul said, But I had them by birth.
22:28 And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.

22:29 ½Å¹®ÇÏ·Á´ø »ç¶÷µéÀÌ °ð ±×¿¡°Ô¼­ ¹°·¯°¡°í õºÎÀåµµ ±×°¡ ·Î¸¶ »ç¶÷ÀÎ ÁÙ ¾Ë°í ¶Ç´Â ±× °á¹ÚÇÑ °ÍÀ» ÀÎÇÏ¿© µÎ·Á¿öÇϴ϶ó
22:29 Then those who were about to put him to the test went away: and the chief captain was in fear, seeing that he was a Roman, and that he had put chains on him.
22:29 Then immediately they departed from him which should have examined him: and the chief captain also was afraid, after he knew that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him.

22:30 ¡Û ÀÌƱ³¯ õºÎÀåÀÌ ¹«½¼ ÀÏ·Î À¯´ëÀεéÀÌ ±×¸¦ ¼Û»çÇÏ´ÂÁö ½Ç»óÀ» ¾Ë°íÀÚ ÇÏ¿© ±× °á¹ÚÀ» Ç®°í ¸íÇÏ¿© Á¦»çÀåµé°ú ¿Â °øȸ¸¦ ¸ðÀ¸°í ¹Ù¿ïÀ» µ¥¸®°í ³»·Á°¡¼­ ÀúÈñ ¾Õ¿¡ ¼¼¿ì´Ï¶ó
22:30 But on the day after, desiring to have certain knowledge of what the Jews had to say against him, he made him free, and gave orders for the chief priests and all the Sanhedrin to come together, and he took Paul and put him before them.
22:30 On the next day, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.

23:1 ¹Ù¿ïÀÌ °øȸ¸¦ ÁÖ¸ñÇÏ¿© °¡·ÎµÇ ¿©·¯ºÐ ÇüÁ¦µé¾Æ ¿À´Ã³¯±îÁö ³»°¡ ¹ü»ç¿¡ ¾ç½ÉÀ» µû¶ó Çϳª´ÔÀ» ¼¶°å³ë¶ó ÇÏ°Å´Ã
23:1 And Paul, looking fixedly at the Sanhedrin, said, My brothers, my life has been upright before God till this day.
23:1 And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.

23:2 ´ëÁ¦»çÀå ¾Æ³ª´Ï¾Æ°¡ ¹Ù¿ï °ç¿¡ ¼¹´Â »ç¶÷µé¿¡°Ô ±× ÀÔÀ» Ä¡¶ó ¸íÇÏ´Ï
23:2 And the high priest, Ananias, gave orders to those who were near him to give him a blow on the mouth.
23:2 And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to strike him on the mouth.

23:3 ¹Ù¿ïÀÌ °¡·ÎµÇ ȸĥÇÑ ´ãÀÌ¿© Çϳª´ÔÀÌ ³Ê¸¦ Ä¡½Ã¸®·Î´Ù ³×°¡ ³ª¸¦ À²¹ý´ë·Î ÆÇ´ÜÇÑ´Ù°í ¾É¾Æ¼­ À²¹ýÀ» ¾î±â°í ³ª¸¦ Ä¡¶ó ÇÏ´À³Ä ÇÏ´Ï
23:3 Then Paul said to him, God will give blows to you, you whitewashed wall: are you here to be my judge by law, and by your orders am I given blows against the law?
23:3 Then said Paul unto him, God shall strike you, you whitewashed wall: for sit you to judge me after the law, and command me to be smitten contrary to the law?

23:4 °ç¿¡ ¼± »ç¶÷µéÀÌ ¸»Ç쵂 Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ´ëÁ¦»çÀåÀ» ³×°¡ ¿åÇÏ´À³Ä
23:4 And those who were near said, Do you say such words against God's high priest?
23:4 And they that stood by said, Revile you God's high priest?

23:5 ¹Ù¿ïÀÌ °¡·ÎµÇ ÇüÁ¦µé¾Æ ³ª´Â ±×°¡ ´ëÁ¦»çÀåÀÎ ÁÙ ¾ËÁö ¸øÇÏ¿´³ë¶ó ±â·ÏÇÏ¿´À¸µÇ ³ÊÀÇ ¹é¼ºÀÇ °ü¿øÀ» ºñ¹æÄ¡ ¸»¶ó ÇÏ¿´´À´Ï¶ó ÇÏ´õ¶ó
23:5 And Paul said, Brother, I had no idea that he was the high priest: for it has been said, You may not say evil about the ruler of your people.
23:5 Then said Paul, I know not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, You shall not speak evil of the ruler of your people.

23:6 ¹Ù¿ïÀÌ ±× ÇÑ ºÎºÐÀº »çµÎ°³ÀÎÀÌ¿ä ÇÑ ºÎºÐÀº ¹Ù¸®»õÀÎÀÎ ÁÙ ¾Ë°í °øȸ¿¡¼­ ¿ÜÃÄ °¡·ÎµÇ ¿©·¯ºÐ ÇüÁ¦µé¾Æ ³ª´Â ¹Ù¸®»õÀÎÀÌ¿ä ¶Ç ¹Ù¸®»õÀÎÀÇ ¾ÆµéÀ̶ó Á×Àº ÀÚÀÇ ¼Ò¸Á °ð ºÎÈ°À» ÀÎÇÏ¿© ³»°¡ ½É¹®À» ¹Þ³ë¶ó
23:6 But when Paul saw that half of them were Sadducees and the rest Pharisees, he said in the Sanhedrin, Brothers, I am a Pharisee, and the son of Pharisees: I am here to be judged on the question of the hope of the coming back from the dead.
23:6 But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.

23:7 ±× ¸»À» ÇÑÁï ¹Ù¸®»õÀΰú »çµÎ°³ÀÎ »çÀÌ¿¡ ´ÙÅùÀÌ »ý°Ü ¹«¸®°¡ ³ª´©ÀÌ´Ï
23:7 And when he had said this, there was an argument between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and a division in the meeting.
23:7 And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided.

23:8 ÀÌ´Â »çµÎ°³ÀÎÀº ºÎÈ°µµ ¾ø°í õ»çµµ ¾ø°í ¿µµµ ¾ø´Ù ÇÏ°í ¹Ù¸®»õÀÎÀº ´Ù ÀÖ´Ù ÇÔÀ̶ó
23:8 For the Sadducees say that there is no coming back from the dead, and no angels or spirits: but the Pharisees have belief in all these.
23:8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: (o. pneuma) but the Pharisees confess both.

23:9 And there was a great outcry: and some of the scribes on the side of the Pharisees got up and took part in the discussion, saying, We see no evil in this man: what if he has had a revelation from an angel or a spirit?
23:9 And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees' part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit (o. pneuma) or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

23:10 And when the argument became very violent, the chief captain, fearing that Paul would be pulled in two by them, gave orders to the armed men to take him by force from among them, and take him into the army building.
23:10 And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle.

23:11 And the night after, the Lord came to his side and said, Be of good heart, for as you have been witnessing for me in Jerusalem, so will you be my witness in Rome.
23:11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as you have testified of me in Jerusalem, so must you bear witness also at Rome.

23:12 And when it was day, the Jews came together and put themselves under an oath that they would take no food or drink till they had put Paul to death.
23:12 And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.

23:14 And they came to the chief priests and the rulers and said, We have taken a great oath to take no food till we have put Paul to death
23:14 And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul.

23:15 So now, will you and the Sanhedrin make a request to the military authorities to have him sent down to you, as if you were desiring to go into the business in greater detail; and we, before ever he gets to you, will be waiting to put him to death.
23:15 Now therefore all of you with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you tomorrow, as though all of you would enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, before even he comes near, are ready to kill him.

23:16 But Paul's sister's son had word of their design, and he came into the army building and gave news of it to Paul.
23:16 And when Paul's sister's son heard of their lying in wait, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul.

23:17 And Paul sent for a captain and said, Take this young man to your chief, for he has news for him.
23:17 Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain: for he has a certain thing to tell him.

23:18 So he took him to the chief captain and said, Paul, the prisoner, made a request to me to take this young man to you, for he has something to say to you.
23:18 So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and prayed me to bring this young man unto you, who has something to say unto you.

23:19 And the chief took him by the hand and, going on one side, said to him privately, What is it you have to say to me?
23:19 Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went with him aside privately, and asked him, What is that you have to tell me?

23:20 And he said, The Jews are in agreement together to make a request to you for Paul to be taken, on the day after this, into the Sanhedrin, to be questioned in greater detail.
23:20 And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire you that you would bring down Paul tomorrow into the council, as though they would enquire somewhat of him more perfectly.

23:21 But do not give way to them, for more than forty of them are waiting for him, having taken an oath not to take food or drink till they have put him to death: and now they are ready, waiting for your order.
23:21 But do not you yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from you.

23:22 So the chief captain let the young man go, saying to him, Do not say to anyone that you have given me word of these things.
23:22 So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and charged him, See you tell no man that you have showed these things to me.

23:23 And he sent for two captains and said, Make ready two hundred men, with seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen, to go to Caesarea, at the third hour of the night:
23:23 And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night;

23:24 And get beasts so that they may put Paul on them, and take him safely to Felix, the ruler.
23:24 And provide them beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring him safe unto Felix the governor.

23:26 Claudius Lysias, to the most noble ruler, Felix, peace be with you.
23:26 Claudius Lysias unto the most excellent governor Felix sends greeting.

23:27 This man was taken by the Jews, and was about to be put to death by them, when I came on them with the army and took him out of danger, having knowledge that he was a Roman.
23:27 This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman.

23:28 And, desiring to get at the reason for their attack on him, I took him down to their Sanhedrin:
23:28 And when I would have known the cause wherefore they accused him, I brought him forth into their council:

23:29 Then it became clear to me that it was a question of their law, and that nothing was said against him which might be a reason for prison or death.
23:29 Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds.

23:30 And when news was given to me that a secret design was being made against the man, I sent him straight away to you, giving orders to those who are against him to make their statements before you.
23:30 And when it was told me how that the Jews laid wait for the man, I sent immediately to you, and gave commandment to his accusers also to say before you what they had against him. Farewell.

23:31 So the armed men, as they were ordered, took Paul and came by night to Antipatris.
23:31 Then the soldiers, as it was commanded them, took Paul, and brought him by night to Antipatris.

23:32 But on the day after, they sent the horsemen on with him, and went back to their place:
23:32 On the next day they left the horsemen to go with him, and returned to the castle:

23:33 And they, when they came to Caesarea, gave the letter to the ruler, and took Paul before him.
23:33 Who, when they came to Caesarea and delivered the epistle to the governor, presented Paul also before him.

23:34 And after reading it, he said, What part of the country do you come from? And, hearing that he was from Cilicia,
23:34 And when the governor had read the letter, he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of Cilicia;

23:35 I will give hearing to your cause, he said, when those who are against you have come. And he gave orders for him to be kept in Herod's Praetorium.
23:35 I will hear you, said he, when yours accusers are also come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod's judgment hall.

24:1 And after five days, the high priest, Ananias, came with certain of the rulers, and an expert talker, one Tertullus; and they made a statement to Felix against Paul.
24:1 And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul.

24:2 And when he had been sent for, Tertullus, starting his statement, said, Because by you we are living in peace, and through your wisdom wrongs are put right for this nation,
24:2 And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by you we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by your providence,

24:3 In all things and in all places we are conscious of our great debt to you, most noble Felix.
24:3 We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.

24:4 But, so that I may not make you tired, I make a request to you of your mercy, to give hearing to a short statement.
24:4 Notwithstanding, that I be not wearisome anymore unto you, I pray you that you would hear us of your clemency a few words.

24:5 For this man, in our opinion, is a cause of trouble, a maker of attacks on the government among Jews through all the empire, and a chief mover in the society of the Nazarenes:
24:5 For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:

24:6 Who, in addition, was attempting to make the Temple unclean: whom we took,
24:6 Who also has gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law.

24:7 But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,

24:8 And from whom you will be able, by questioning him yourself, to get knowledge of all the things which we say against him.
24:8 Commanding his accusers to come unto you: by examining of whom yourself may take knowledge of all these things, whereof we accuse him.

24:9 And the Jews were in agreement with his statement, saying that these things were so.

24:10 Then when the ruler had given him a sign to make his answer, Paul said, Because I have knowledge that you have been a judge over this nation for a number of years, I am glad to make my answer:
24:10 Then Paul, after that the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, answered, Forasmuch as I know that you have been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself:

24:11 Seeing that you are able to make certain of the fact that it is not more than twelve days from the time when I came up to Jerusalem for worship;
24:11 Because that you may understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem in order to worship.

24:12 And they have not seen me in argument with any man in the Temple, or working up the feelings of the people, in the Synagogues or in the town:
24:12 And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:

24:13 And they are not able to give facts in support of the things which they say against me now.
24:13 Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me.

24:14 But this I will say openly to you, that I do give worship to the God of our fathers after that Way, which to them is not the true religion: but I have belief in all the things which are in the law and in the books of the prophets:
24:14 But this I confess unto you, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

24:15 Hoping in God for that which they themselves are looking for, that there will be a coming back from the dead for upright men and wrongdoers.
24:15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

24:18 And having been made clean, I was in the Temple, but not with a great number of people, and not with noise: but there were certain Jews from Asia,
24:18 Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult.

24:20 Or let these men here present say what wrongdoing was seen in me when I was before the Sanhedrin,
24:20 Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council,

24:21 But only this one thing which I said among them in a loud voice, I am this day being judged on the question of the coming back from the dead.
24:21 Except it be for this one voice, that I cried standing among them, Concerning the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day.

24:22 And when Felix heard these things, having more perfect knowledge of that way, he deferred them, and said, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will know the uttermost of your matter.

24:25 And while he was talking about righteousness and self-control and the judging which was to come, Felix had great fear and said, Go away for the present, and when the right time comes I will send for you.
24:25 And as he reasoned of righteousness, wilful restrain, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go your way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for you.

25:1 So Festus, having come into that part of the country which was under his rule, after three days went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.
25:1 Now when Festus was come into the province, after three days he ascended from Caesarea to Jerusalem.

25:2 And the chief priests and the chief men of the Jews made statements against Paul,
25:2 Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought him,

25:3 Requesting Festus to give effect to their design against him, and send him to Jerusalem, when they would be waiting to put him to death on the way.
25:3 And desired favour against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him.

25:4 But Festus, in answer, said that Paul was being kept in prison at Caesarea, and that in a short time he himself was going there.
25:4 But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly thither.

25:5 So, he said, let those who have authority among you go with me, and if there is any wrong in the man, let them make a statement against him.
25:5 Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.

25:6 And when he had been with them not more than eight or ten days, he went down to Caesarea; and on the day after, he took his place on the judge's seat, and sent for Paul.
25:6 And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.

25:7 And when he came, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem came round him, and made all sorts of serious statements against him, which were not supported by the facts.
25:7 And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.

25:8 Then Paul, in his answer to them, said, I have done no wrong against the law of the Jews, or against the Temple, or against Caesar.
25:8 While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.

25:9 But Festus, desiring to get the approval of the Jews, said to Paul, Will you go up to Jerusalem, and be judged before me there in connection with these things?
25:9 But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Will you go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?

25:10 And Paul said, I am before the seat of Caesar's authority where it is right for me to be judged: I have done no wrong to the Jews, as you are well able to see.
25:10 Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as you very well know.

25:11 If, then, I am a wrongdoer and there is a cause of death in me, I am ready for death: if it is not as they say against me, no man may give me up to them. Let my cause come before Caesar.
25:11 For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.

25:12 Then Festus, having had a discussion with the Jews, made answer, You have said, Let my cause come before Caesar; to Caesar you will go.

25:13 And after certain days king Agrippa and Bernice came unto Caesarea to salute Festus.

25:14 And as they were there for some days, Festus gave them Paul's story, saying, There is a certain man here who was put in prison by Felix:

25:16 To whom I gave answer that it is not the Roman way to give a man up, till he has been face to face with those who are attacking him, and has had a chance to give an answer to the statements made against him.
25:16 To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.

25:17 So, when they had come together here, straight away, on the day after, I took my place on the judge's seat and sent for the man.
25:17 Therefore, when they were come here, without any delay on the next day I sat on the judgment seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth.

25:18 But when they got up they said nothing about such crimes as I had in mind:
25:18 Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:

25:19 But had certain questions against him in connection with their religion, and about one Jesus, now dead, who, Paul said, was living.
25:19 But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

25:20 And as I had not enough knowledge for the discussion of these things, I made the suggestion to him to go to Jerusalem and be judged there.
25:20 And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these matters.

25:21 But when Paul had appealed to be reserved unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Caesar.

25:23 So on the day after, when Agrippa and Bernice in great glory had come into the public place of hearing, with the chief of the army and the chief men of the town, at the order of Festus, Paul was sent for.
25:23 And on the next day, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and was entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city, at Festus' commandment Paul was brought forth.

25:24 And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all those who are present here with us, you see this man, about whom all the Jews have made protests to me, at Jerusalem and in this place, saying that it is not right for him to be living any longer.
25:24 And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, all of you see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.

25:25 But, in my opinion, there is no cause of death in him, and as he himself has made a request to be judged by Caesar, I have said that I would send him.
25:25 But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself has appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.

25:26 But I have no certain account of him to send to Caesar. So I have sent for him to come before you, and specially before you, King Agrippa, so that after the business has been gone into, I may have something to put in writing.
25:26 Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before you, O king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.

26:1 And Agrippa said to Paul, You may put your cause before us. Then Paul, stretching out his hand, made his answer, saying:
26:1 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, You are permitted to speak for yourself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself:

26:2 In my opinion I am happy, King Agrippa, to be able to give my answer before you today to all these things which the Jews say against me:
26:2 I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before you concerning all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:

26:3 The more so, because you are expert in all questions to do with the Jews and their ways: so I make my request to you to give me a hearing to the end.
26:3 Especially because I know you to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I plead to you to hear me patiently.

26:4 All the Jews have knowledge of my way of life from my early years, as it was from the start among my nation, and at Jerusalem;
26:4 My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;

26:5 ÀÏÂïºÎÅÍ ³ª¸¦ ¾Ë¾ÒÀ¸´Ï ÀúÈñ°¡ Áõ°ÅÇÏ·Á ÇÏ¸é ³»°¡ ¿ì¸® Á¾±³ÀÇ °¡Àå ¾öÇÑ Æĸ¦ ÁÀ¾Æ ¹Ù¸®»õÀÎÀÇ »ýÈ°À» ÇÏ¿´´Ù°í ÇÒ °ÍÀ̶ó
26:5 And they are able to say, if they would give witness, that I was living as a Pharisee, in that division of our religion which is most regular in the keeping of the law.
26:5 Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

26:6 And now I am here to be judged because of the hope given by God's word to our fathers;
26:6 And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God, unto our fathers:

26:7 For the effecting of which our twelve tribes have been working and waiting night and day with all their hearts. And in connection with this hope I am attacked by the Jews, O king!
26:7 Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.

26:8 Why, in your opinion, is it outside belief for God to make the dead come to life again?
26:8 Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

26:9 For I, truly, was of the opinion that it was right for me to do a number of things against the name of Jesus of Nazareth.
26:9 I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

26:10 And this I did in Jerusalem: and numbers of the saints I put in prison, having had authority given to me from the chief priests, and when they were put to death, I gave my decision against them.
26:10 Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.

26:11 And I gave them punishment frequently, in all the Synagogues, forcing them to say things against God; and burning with passion against them, I went after them even into far-away towns.
26:11 And I punished them often in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.

26:13 In the middle of the day, on the road I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining round me and those who were journeying with me.
26:13 At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.

26:14 And when we had all gone down on the earth, a voice came to me, saying in the Hebrew language, Saul, Saul, why are you attacking me so cruelly? It is hard for you to go against the impulse which is driving you.
26:14 And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecute you me? it is hard for you to kick against the pricks.

26:15 And I said, Who are you, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus, whom you are attacking.

26:16 But get up on your feet: for I have come to you for this purpose, to make you a servant and a witness of the things in which you have seen me, and of those in which you will see me;
26:16 But rise, and stand upon your feet: for I have appeared unto you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of these things which you have seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto you;

26:18 To make their eyes open, turning them from the dark to the light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may have forgiveness of sins and a heritage among those who are made holy by faith in me.
26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

26:19 So, then, King Agrippa, I did not go against the vision from heaven;
26:19 Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:

26:20 But I went about, first to those in Damascus and Jerusalem, and through all the country of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, preaching a change of heart, so that they, being turned to God, might give, in their works, the fruits of a changed heart.
26:20 But showed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

26:21 For this reason, the Jews took me in the Temple, and made an attempt to put me to death.

26:22 And so, by God's help, I am here today, witnessing to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would come about;
26:22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

26:23 That the Christ would go through pain, and being the first to come back from the dead, would give light to the people and to the Gentiles.
26:23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should show light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

26:24 And when he made his answer in these words, Festus said in a loud voice, Paul, you are off your head; your great learning has made you unbalanced.
26:24 And as he thus spoke for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, you are out of your mind; much learning does make you mad.

26:26 For the king has knowledge of these things, to whom I am talking freely; being certain that all this is common knowledge to him; for it has not been done in secret.
26:26 For the king knows of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.

26:28 And Agrippa said to Paul, A little more and you will be making me a Christian.
26:28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost you persuade me to be a Christian.

26:29 And Paul said, It is my prayer to God that, in little or great measure, not only you, but all those hearing me today might be even as I am, but for these chains.
26:29 And Paul said, I would to God, that not only you, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

26:31 And when they had gone away they said to one another, This man has done nothing which might give cause for death or prison.
26:31 And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man does nothing worthy of death or of bonds.

26:32 And Agrippa said to Festus, This man might have been made free, if he had not put his cause before Caesar.

27:1 And when the decision had been made that we were to go by sea to Italy, they gave Paul and certain other prisoners into the care of a captain named Julius, of the Augustan band.
27:1 And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus' band.

27:2 And we went to sea in a ship of Adramyttium which was sailing to the sea towns of Asia, Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.
27:2 And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.

27:3 And on the day after, we came to Sidon; and Julius was kind to Paul, and let him go to see his friends and take a rest.
27:3 And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously pleaded Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.

27:4 And sailing again from there, we went on under cover of Cyprus, because the wind was against us.
27:4 And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.

27:5 ±æ¸®±â¾Æ¿Í ¹ãºô¸®¾Æ ¹Ù´Ù¸¦ °Ç³Ê ·ç±â¾ÆÀÇ ¹«¶ó ¼º¿¡ À̸£·¯
27:5 And having gone across the sea off Cilicia and Pamphylia we came to Myra, in Lycia.
27:5 And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.

27:6 °Å±â¼­ ¹éºÎÀåÀÌ ÀÌ´Þ¸®¾ß·Î °¡·Á ÇÏ´Â ¾Ë·º»êµå¸®¾Æ ¹è¸¦ ¸¸³ª ¿ì¸®¸¦ ¿À¸£°Ô ÇÏ´Ï
27:6 And there the captain came across a ship of Alexandria, sailing for Italy, and put us in it.
27:6 And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us therein.

27:7 ¹è°¡ ´õµð °¡ ¿©·¯ ³¯ ¸¸¿¡ °£½ÅÈ÷ ´Ïµµ ¸ÂÀºÆí¿¡ À̸£·¯ dz¼¼°¡ ´õ Çã¶ôÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇϹǷΠ»ì¸ð³× ¾ÕÀ» Áö³ª ±×·¹µ¥ ÇؾÈÀ» ÀÇÁöÇÏ°í Ç༱ÇÏ¿©
27:7 And when we had gone on slowly for a long time, and had had hard work getting across to Cnidus, for the wind was against us, we went under cover of Crete, in the direction of Salmone;
27:7 And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come opposite to Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, opposite to Salmone;

27:8 °£½ÅÈ÷ ±× ¿¬¾ÈÀ» Áö³ª ¹ÌÇ×À̶ó´Â °÷¿¡ À̸£´Ï ¶ó»õ¾Æ ¼º¿¡¼­ °¡±õ´õ¶ó
27:8 And sailing down the side of it, as well as we were able, we came to a certain place named Fair Havens, near which was the town of Lasea.
27:8 And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh unto which was the city of Lasea.

27:9 And as a long time had gone by, and the journey was now full of danger, because it was late in the year, Paul put the position before them,
27:9 Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,

27:10 ¸»Ç쵂 ¿©·¯ºÐÀÌ¿© ³»°¡ º¸´Ï À̹ø Ç༱ÀÌ ÇϹ°°ú ¹è¸¸ ¾Æ´Ï¶ó ¿ì¸® »ý¸í¿¡µµ Ÿ°Ý°ú ¸¹Àº ¼ÕÇØ°¡ ÀÖÀ¸¸®¶ó ÇϵÇ
27:10 Saying, Friends, I see that this journey will be one of great damage and loss, not only to the goods and the ship, but to ourselves.
27:10 And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

27:11 But the captain gave more attention to the master and the owner of the ship than to what Paul said.
27:11 Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

27:12 ±× Ç×±¸°¡ °úµ¿Çϱ⿡ ºÒÆíÇϹǷΠ°Å±â¼­ ¶°³ª ¾Æ¹«ÂÉ·Ï ºÆ´Ï½º¿¡ °¡¼­ °úµ¿ÇÏÀÚ ÇÏ´Â ÀÚ°¡ ´õ ¸¹À¸´Ï ºÆ´Ð½º´Â ±×·¹µ¥ Ç×±¸¶ó ÇÑÆíÀº µ¿ºÏÀ», ÇÑÆíÀº µ¿³²À» ÇâÇÏ¿´´õ¶ó
27:12 And as the harbour was not a good one in which to be for the winter, the greater number of them were for going out to sea, in order, if possible, to put in for the winter at Phoenix, a harbour of Crete, looking to the north-east and south-east.
27:12 And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lies toward the south west and north west.

27:13 And when the south wind came softly, being of the opinion that their purpose might be effected, they let the ship go and went sailing down the side of Crete, very near to the land.
27:13 And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.

27:14 ¾ó¸¶ ¸øµÇ¾î ¼¶ °¡¿îµ¥·Î¼­ À¯¶ó±¼·Î¶ó´Â ±¤Ç³ÀÌ ´ëÀÛÇÏ´Ï
27:14 But after a little time, a very violent wind, named Euraquilo, came down from it with great force.
27:14 But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.

27:15 ¹è°¡ ¹Ð·Á ¹Ù¶÷À» ¸ÂÃß¾î °¥ ¼ö ¾ø¾î °¡´Â ´ë·Î µÎ°í ÂÑ°Ü°¡´Ù°¡
27:15 And when the ship got into the grip of it, and was not able to make headway into the wind, we gave way, and went before it.
27:15 And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

27:16 °¡¿ì´Ù¶ó´Â ÀÛÀº ¼¶ ¾Æ·¡·Î Áö³ª °£½ÅÈ÷ °Å·ç¸¦ Àâ¾Æ
27:16 And, sailing near the side of a small island named Cauda, we were able, though it was hard work, to make the ship's boat safe:
27:16 And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:

27:17 And having got it up, they put cords under and round the ship; but fearing that they might be pushed on to the Syrtis, they let down the sails and so went running before the wind.
27:17 Which when they had taken up, they used support cables, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksand, strake sail, and so were driven.

27:18 And, still fighting the storm with all our strength, the day after they made a start at getting the goods out of the ship;
27:18 And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;

27:19 And on the third day, they let all the sailing apparatus go over the side.
27:19 And the third day we cast out with our own hands the cordage of the ship.

27:20 And as we had not seen the sun or stars for a long time, and a great storm was on us, all hope of salvation was gone.
27:20 And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

27:21 And when they had been without food for a long time, Paul got up among them and said, Friends, it would have been better if you had given attention to me and not gone sailing out from Crete, to undergo this damage and loss.
27:21 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, all of you should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

27:22 But now, I say to you, be of good heart, for there will be no loss of life, but only of the ship.
27:22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.

27:23 For this night there came to my side an angel of the God who is my Master and whose servant I am,
27:23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

27:24 Saying, Have no fear, Paul, for you will come before Caesar, and God has given to you all those who are sailing with you.
27:24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God has given you all them that sail with you.

27:25 And so, O men, be of good heart, for I have faith in God that it will be as he said to me.
27:25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

27:26 But we will be sent on to a certain island.
27:26 Nevertheless we must be cast upon a certain island.

27:27 But when the fourteenth day came, while we were going here and there in the Adriatic sea, about the middle of the night the sailors had an idea that they were getting near land;
27:27 But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the sailors deemed that they drew near to some country;

27:28 ¹°À» Àç¾î º¸´Ï ÀÌ½Ê ±æÀÌ µÇ°í Á¶±Ý °¡´Ù°¡ ´Ù½Ã Àç´Ï ¿­ ´Ù¼¸ ±æÀ̶ó
27:28 And they let down the lead, and saw that the sea was a hundred and twenty feet deep; and after a little time they did it again and it was ninety feet.
27:28 And sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.

27:29 Then, fearing that by chance we might come on to the rocks, they let down four hooks from the back of the ship, and made prayers for the coming of day.
27:29 Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.

27:30 Then the sailors made attempts secretly to get away from the ship, letting down a boat as if they were about to put down hooks from the front of the ship;
27:30 And as the sailors were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the bow,

27:31 But Paul said to the captain and his men, If you do not keep these men in the ship, you will not be safe.
27:31 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, all of you cannot be saved.

27:32 Then the armed men, cutting the cords of the boat, let her go.

27:33 And when dawn was near, Paul gave them all orders to take food, saying, This is the fourteenth day you have been waiting and taking no food.
27:33 And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take food, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that all of you have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.

27:34 So I make request to you to take food; for this is for your salvation: not a hair from the head of any of you will come to destruction.
27:34 Wherefore I pray you to take some food: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.

27:35 And when he had said this and had taken bread, he gave praise to God before them all, and took a meal of the broken bread.
27:35 And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.

27:36 Then they all took heart and did the same.
27:36 Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some food.

27:38 And when they had had enough food, they made the weight of the ship less, turning the grain out into the sea.
27:38 And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the sea.

27:39 And when it was day, they had no knowledge of the land, but they saw an inlet of the sea with a floor of sand, and they had the idea of driving the ship up on to it if possible.
27:39 And when it was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.

27:40 So cutting away the hooks, and letting them go into the sea, and freeing the cords of the guiding-blades, and lifting up the sail to the wind, they went in the direction of the inlet.
27:40 And when they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the rudder bands, and hoisted up the mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore.

27:41 And coming to a point between two seas, they got the ship to land; and the front part was fixed in the sand and not able to be moved, but the back part was broken by the force of the waves.
27:41 And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the front part stuck fast, and remained immoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.

27:42 Then the armed men were for putting the prisoners to death, so that no one would get away by swimming.
27:42 And the soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.

27:43 But the captain, desiring to keep Paul safe, kept them from their purpose, and gave orders that those who had knowledge of swimming were to go off the ship and get first to land:
27:43 But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:

28:1 And when we were safe, we made the discovery that the island was named Melita.
28:1 And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.

28:2 And the simple people living there were uncommonly kind to us, for they made a fire for us, and took us in, because it was raining and cold.
28:2 And the natives people showed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

28:3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

28:4 And when the people saw it hanging on his hand, they said to one another, Without doubt this man has put someone to death, and though he has got safely away from the sea, God will not let him go on living.
28:4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffers not to live.

28:5 But shaking off the beast into the fire, he got no damage.

28:6 But they had the idea that they would see him becoming ill, or suddenly falling down dead; but after waiting a long time, and seeing that no damage came to him, changing their opinion, they said he was a god.
28:6 Nevertheless they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

28:7 Now near that place there was some land, the property of the chief man of the island, who was named Publius; who very kindly took us into his house as his guests for three days.
28:7 In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.

28:8 And the father of Publius was ill, with a disease of the stomach; to whom Paul went, and put his hands on him, with prayer, and made him well.
28:8 And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a dysentery: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

28:9 And when this took place, all the others in the island who had diseases came and were made well.

28:10 Then they gave us great honour, and, when we went away, they put into the ship whatever things we were in need of.
28:10 Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

28:11 And after three months we went to sea in a ship of Alexandria sailing under the sign of the Dioscuri, which had been at the island for the winter.
28:11 And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.

28:13 And from there, going about in a curve, we came to Rhegium: and after one day a south wind came up and on the day after we came to Puteoli:
28:13 And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:

28:14 Where we came across some of the brothers, who kept us with them for seven days; and so we came to Rome.
28:14 Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.

28:15 And the brothers, when they had news of us, came out from town as far as Appii Forum and the Three Taverns to have a meeting with us: and Paul, seeing them, gave praise to God and took heart.
28:15 And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

28:16 And when we came into Rome, they let Paul have a house for himself and the armed man who kept watch over him.
28:16 And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.

28:17 Then after three days he sent for the chief men of the Jews: and when they had come together, he said to them, My brothers, though I had done nothing against the people or the ways of our fathers, I was given, a prisoner from Jerusalem, into the hands of the Romans.
28:17 And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

28:19 But when the Jews made protest against it, I had to put my cause into Caesar's hands; not because I have anything to say against my nation.
28:19 But when the Jews spoke against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.

28:20 But for this reason I sent for you, to see and have talk with you: for because of the hope of Israel I am in these chains.
28:20 For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

28:21 And they said to him, We have not had letters from Judaea about you, and no one of the brothers has come to us here to give an account or say any evil about you.
28:21 And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning you, neither any of the brethren that came showed or spoke any harm of you.

28:22 But we have a desire to give hearing to your opinion: for as to this form of religion, we have knowledge that in all places it is attacked.

28:23 And when a day had been fixed, they came to his house in great numbers; and he gave them teaching, giving witness to the kingdom of God, and having discussions with them about Jesus, from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning till evening.
28:23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

28:25 And they went away, for there was a division among them after Paul had said this one thing: Well did the Holy Spirit say by the prophet Isaiah to your fathers,
28:25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, (o. rhema) Well spoke the Holy Spirit (o. pneuma) by Isaiah the prophet unto our fathers,

28:26 Go to this people and say, Though you give ear, you will not get knowledge; and seeing, you will see, but the sense will not be clear to you:

28:27 For the heart of this people has become fat and their ears are slow in hearing and their eyes are shut; for fear that they might see with their eyes and give hearing with their ears and become wise in their hearts and be turned again to me, so that I might make them well.
28:27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
