8:1 ¿¡ºê¶óÀÓ »ç¶÷µéÀÌ ±âµå¿Â¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ³×°¡ ¹Ìµð¾È°ú ½Î¿ì·¯ °¥ ¶§¿¡ ¿ì¸®¸¦ ºÎ¸£Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿´À¸´Ï ¿ì¸®¸¦ ÀÌ°°ÀÌ ´ëÁ¢ÇÔÀº ¾îÂòÀÌ´¢ ÇÏ°í Å©°Ô ´ÙÅõ´ÂÁö¶ó
8:1 And the men of Ephraim came and said to him, Why did you not send for us when you went to war against Midian? And they said sharp and angry words to him.
8:1 And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why have you served us thus, that you called us not, when you went to fight with the Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply.

8:2 ±âµå¿ÂÀÌ ±×µé¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ³ªÀÇ ÀÌÁ¦ ÇàÇÑ ÀÏÀÌ ³ÊÈñÀÇ ÇÑ °Í¿¡ ºñ±³µÇ°Ú´À³Ä ¿¡ºê¶óÀÓÀÇ ³¡¹° Æ÷µµ°¡ ¾Æºñ¿¡¼¿ÀÇ ¸º¹° Æ÷µµº¸´Ù ³´Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇϳÄ
8:2 And he said to them, What have I done in comparison with you? Is not that which Ephraim took up after the grape-cutting better than all the grapes which Abiezer got in from the grape-cutting?
8:2 And he said unto them, What have I done now in comparison of you? Is not the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer?

8:3 Çϳª´ÔÀÌ ¹Ìµð¾È ¹æ¹é ¿À·¾°ú ½º¿¦À» ³ÊÈñ ¼Õ¿¡ ºÙÀ̼ÌÀ¸´Ï ³ªÀÇ ÇÑ ÀÏÀÌ ¾îÂî ´ÉÈ÷ ³ÊÈñÀÇ ÇÑ °Í¿¡ ºñ±³µÇ°Ú´À³Ä ±âµå¿ÂÀÌ ÀÌ ¸»À» ÇϸŠ±×µéÀÇ ³ë°¡ Ç®¸®´Ï¶ó
8:3 God has given into your hands the chiefs of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb; what have I been able to do in comparison with you? And when he said this, their feeling about him became kinder.
8:3 God has delivered into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb: and what was I able to do in comparison of you? Then their anger was decreased toward him, when he had said that.

8:4 ¡Û ±âµå¿Â°ú ±× ÁÀÀº ÀÚ »ï¹é ¸íÀÌ ¿ä´Ü¿¡ À̸£·¯ °Ç³Ê°í ºñ·Ï ÇÇ°ïÇϳª µû¸£¸ç
8:4 Then Gideon came to Jordan and went over it with his three hundred, overcome with weariness and in need of food.
8:4 And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them.

8:5 ±×°¡ ¼÷°÷ »ç¶÷µé¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ³ªÀÇ Á¾ÀÚ°¡ ÇÇ°ïÇÏ¿© ÇÏ´Ï Ã»ÄÁ´ë ±×µé¿¡°Ô ¶±µ¢À̸¦ ÁÖ¶ó ³ª´Â ¹Ìµð¾È µÎ ¿Õ ¼¼¹Ù¿Í »ì¹®³ª¸¦ µû¸£³ë¶ó
8:5 And he said to the men of Succoth, Give bread cakes to my people, for they are overcome with weariness, and I am going on after Zebah and Zalmunna, the kings of Midian.
8:5 And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.

8:6 ¼÷°÷ ¹æ¹éµéÀÌ °¡·ÎµÇ ¼¼¹Ù¿Í »ì¹®³ªÀÇ ¼ÕÀÌ Áö±Ý ¾îÂî ³× ¼Õ¿¡ ÀÖ°ü´ë ¿ì¸®°¡ ³× ±º´ë¿¡°Ô ¶±À» ÁÖ°Ú´À³Ä
8:6 But the chiefs of Succoth said, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna even now in your hand that we are to give bread to your army?
8:6 And the princes of Succoth said, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in yours hand, that we should give bread unto yours army?

8:7 ±âµå¿ÂÀÌ °¡·ÎµÇ ±×·¯¸é ¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ¼¼¹Ù¿Í »ì¹®³ª¸¦ ³» ¼Õ¿¡ ºÙÀ̽ŠÈÄ¿¡ ³»°¡ µé°¡½Ã¿Í Âñ·¹·Î ³ÊÈñ »ìÀ» ÂõÀ¸¸®¶ó ÇÏ°í
8:7 Then Gideon said, Because of this, when the Lord has given Zebah and Zalmunna into my hands, I will have you stretched on a bed of thorns of the waste land and on sharp stems, and have you crushed as grain is crushed on a grain-floor.
8:7 And Gideon said, Therefore when the LORD has delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into mine hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.

8:8 °Å±â¼­ ºê´©¿¤¿¡ ¿Ã¶ó°¡¼­ ±×µé¿¡°Ôµµ ±× °°ÀÌ ±¸ÇÑÁï ºê´©¿¤ »ç¶÷µéÀÇ ´ë´äµµ ¼÷°÷ »ç¶÷µéÀÇ ´ë´ä°ú °°ÀºÁö¶ó
8:8 So he went up from there to Penuel and made the same request to the men of Penuel; but they gave him the same answer as the men of Succoth had given.
8:8 And he went up thence to Penuel, and spoke unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him.

8:9 ±âµå¿ÂÀÌ ¶Ç ºê´©¿¤ »ç¶÷µé¿¡°Ô ÀÏ·¯ °¡·ÎµÇ ³»°¡ Æò¾ÈÀÌ µ¹¾Æ¿Ã ¶§¿¡ ÀÌ ¸Á´ë¸¦ Ç渮¶ó Çϴ϶ó
8:9 So he said to the men of Penuel, When I come back in peace, I will have this tower broken down.
8:9 And he spoke also unto the men of Penuel, saying, When I come again in peace, I will break down this tower.

8:10 ¡Û À̶§¿¡ ¼¼¹Ù¿Í »ì¹®³ª°¡ °¥°ñ¿¡ Àִµ¥ µ¿¹æ »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¸ðµç ±º´ë Áß¿¡ Ä® µç ÀÚ ½Ê À̸¸ ¸íÀÌ Á×¾ú°í ±×µéÀ» ÁÀ¾Æ °Å±â ÀÖ´õ¶ó
8:10 Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor and their armies with them, about fifteen thousand men, those of all the army of the children of the east who were still living; for a hundred and twenty thousand of their swordsmen had been put to death.
8:10 Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword.

8:11 Àû±ºÀÌ ¾È¿¬È÷ ÀÖ´Â Áß¿¡ ±âµå¿ÂÀÌ ³ë¹Ù¿Í ¿åºêÇÏ µ¿Æí À帷¿¡ °ÅÇÑ ÀÚÀÇ ±æ·Î ¿Ã¶ó°¡¼­ Àû±ºÀ» Ä¡´Ï
8:11 And Gideon went up by the way used by the people living in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and made an attack on the army when they had no thought of danger.
8:11 And Gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and stroke the host; for the host was secure.

8:12 ¼¼¹Ù¿Í »ì¹®³ª°¡ µµ¸ÁÇÏ´ÂÁö¶ó ±âµå¿ÂÀÌ Ãß°ÝÇÏ¿© ¹Ìµð¾È µÎ ¿Õ ¼¼¹Ù¿Í »ì¹®³ª¸¦ »ç·ÎÀâ°í ±× ¿Â ±º´ë¸¦ ÆÄÇϴ϶ó
8:12 And Zebah and Zalmunna went in flight; and he went after them, and took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and put all the army to the curse.
8:12 And when Zebah and Zalmunna fled, he pursued after them, and took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and humiliated all the host.

8:13 ¡Û ¿ä¾Æ½ºÀÇ ¾Æµé ±âµå¿ÂÀÌ Çì·¹½º ºñÅ» ÀüÀå¿¡¼­ µ¹¾Æ¿À´Ù°¡
8:13 Then Gideon, the son of Joash, went back from the fight:
8:13 And Gideon the son of Joash returned from battle before the sun was up,

8:14 ¼÷°÷ »ç¶÷ Áß ÇÑ ¼Ò³âÀ» Àâ¾Æ ½Å¹®ÇϸŠ¼÷°÷ ¹æ¹é°ú Àå·Î Ä¥½Ê Ä¥ ÀÎÀ» ±×¸¦ À§ÇÏ¿© ±â·ÏÇÑÁö¶ó
8:14 And taking prisoner a young man of the people of Succoth, he got from him, in answer to his questions, a list of the chiefs of Succoth and the responsible men, seventy-seven men.
8:14 And caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and enquired of him: and he described unto him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, even threescore and seventeen men.

8:15 ±âµå¿ÂÀÌ ¼÷°÷ »ç¶÷µé¿¡°Ô À̸£·¯ °¡·ÎµÇ ³ÊÈñ°¡ Àü¿¡ ³ª¸¦ ±â·ÕÇÏ¿© À̸£±â¸¦ ¼¼¹Ù¿Í »ì¹®³ªÀÇ ¼ÕÀÌ Áö±Ý ¾îÂî ³× ¼Õ¿¡ ÀÖ°ü´ë ¿ì¸®°¡ ³× ÇÇ°ïÇÑ »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô ¶±À» ÁÖ°Ú´À³Ä ÇÑ ±× ¼¼¹Ù¿Í »ì¹®³ª¸¦ º¸¶ó ÇÏ°í
8:15 So he came to the men of Succoth and said, Here are Zebah and Zalmunna, on account of whom you made sport of me, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna even now in your hand, that we are to give bread to your army who are overcome with weariness?
8:15 And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, with whom all of you did reproach me, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in yours hand, that we should give bread unto your men that are weary?

8:16 ±× ¼ºÀ¾ Àå·ÎµéÀ» Àâ°í µé°¡½Ã¿Í Âñ·¹·Î ¼÷°÷ »ç¶÷µéÀ» ¡¹úÇÏ°í
8:16 Then he took the responsible men of the town and had them crushed on a bed of thorns and sharp stems.
8:16 And he took the elders of the city, and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and with them he taught the men of Succoth.

8:17 ºê´©¿¤ ¸Á´ë¸¦ Çæ¸ç ±× ¼ºÀ¾ »ç¶÷µéÀ» Á×À̴϶ó
8:17 And he had the tower of Penuel broken down and the men of the town put to death.
8:17 And he beat down the tower of Penuel, and slew the men of the city.

8:18 ÀÌ¿¡ ¼¼¹Ù¿Í »ì¹®³ª¿¡°Ô ¹¯µÇ ³ÊÈñ°¡ ´Ùº¼¿¡¼­ Á×ÀÎ ÀÚµéÀº ¾î¶°ÇÑ ÀÚÀÌ´õ´¢ ´ë´äÇ쵂 ±×µéÀÌ ³Ê¿Í °°¾Æ¼­ ¸ðµÎ ¿ÕÀÚ °°´õ¶ó
8:18 Then he said to Zebah and Zalmunna, Where are the men whom you put to death at Tabor? And they gave answer, As you are, so were they; every one of them was like a king's son.
8:18 Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What manner of men were they whom all of you slew at Tabor? And they answered, As you are, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king.

8:19 °¡·ÎµÇ ±×µéÀº ³» ÇüÁ¦ ³» ¾î¸Ó´ÏÀÇ ¾ÆµéÀÌ´Ï¶ó ³»°¡ ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ »ç½ÉÀ¸·Î ¸Í¼¼Çϳë´Ï ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¸¸ÀÏ ±×µéÀ» »ì·È´õ¸é ³ªµµ ³ÊÈñ¸¦ Á×ÀÌÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿´À¸¸®¶ó ÇÏ°í
8:19 And he said, They were my brothers, my mother's sons: by the life of the Lord, if you had kept them safe, I would not put you to death.
8:19 And he said, They were my brethren, even the sons of my mother: as the LORD lives, if all of you had saved them alive, I would not slay you.

8:20 ±× ÀåÀÚ ¿©µ¨¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ÀϾ ±×µéÀ» Á×À̶ó ÇÏ¿´À¸³ª ±× ¼Ò³âÀÌ Ä®À» »©Áö ¸øÇÏ¿´À¸´Ï ÀÌ´Â ¾ÆÁ÷ ¾î·Á¼­ µÎ·Á¿öÇÔÀ̾ú´õ¶ó
8:20 Then he said to Jether, his oldest son, Up! Put them to death. But the boy did not take out his sword, fearing because he was still a boy.
8:20 And he said unto Jether his firstborn, Up, and slay them. But the youth drew not his sword: for he feared, because he was yet a youth.

8:21 ¼¼¹Ù¿Í »ì¹®³ª°¡ °¡·ÎµÇ ³×°¡ ÀϾ ¿ì¸®¸¦ Ä¡¶ó ´ëÀú »ç¶÷ÀÌ ¾î¶°ÇÏ¸é ±× Èûµµ ±×·¯Çϴ϶ó ±âµå¿ÂÀÌ ÀϾ¼­ ¼¼¹Ù¿Í »ì¹®³ª¸¦ Á×ÀÌ°í ±× ¾à´ë ¸ñ¿¡ ²Ù¸ì´ø »õ ´Þ Çü»óÀÇ Àå½ÄÀ» ÃëÇϴ϶ó
8:21 Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, Up! Put an end to us yourself: for you have a man's strength. Then Gideon got up and put Zebah and Zalmunna to death and took the ornaments which were on their camels' necks.
8:21 Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, Rise you, and fall upon us: for as the man is, so is his strength. And Gideon arose, and slew Zebah and Zalmunna, and took away the ornaments that were on their camels' necks.

8:22 ¡Û ¶§¿¡ À̽º¶ó¿¤ »ç¶÷µéÀÌ ±âµå¿Â¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ´ç½ÅÀÌ ¿ì¸®¸¦ ¹Ìµð¾ÈÀÇ ¼Õ¿¡¼­ ±¸¿øÇϼÌÀ¸´Ï ´ç½Å°ú ´ç½ÅÀÇ ¾Æµé°ú ´ç½ÅÀÇ ¼ÕÀÚ°¡ ¿ì¸®¸¦ ´Ù½º¸®¼Ò¼­
8:22 Then the men of Israel said to Gideon, Be our ruler, you and your son and your son's son after him; for you have been our saviour from the hands of Midian.
8:22 Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule you over us, both you, and your son, and your son's son also: for you have delivered us from the hand of Midian.

8:23 ±âµå¿ÂÀÌ ±×µé¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ³»°¡ ³ÊÈñ¸¦ ´Ù½º¸®Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ°Ú°í ³ªÀÇ ¾Æµéµµ ³ÊÈñ¸¦ ´Ù½º¸®Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇÒ °ÍÀÌ¿ä ¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ³ÊÈñ¸¦ ´Ù½º¸®½Ã¸®¶ó
8:23 But Gideon said to them, I will not be a ruler over you, and my son will not be a ruler over you: it is the Lord who will be ruler over you.
8:23 And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the LORD shall rule over you.

8:24 ±âµå¿ÂÀÌ ¶Ç ±×µé¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ³»°¡ ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ÇÑ ÀÏÀ» û±¸Çϳë´Ï ³ÊÈñ´Â °¢±â Å»ÃëÇÑ ±Í°í¸®¸¦ ³»°Ô ÁÙÁö´Ï¶ó ÇÏ´Ï ±× ´ëÀûÀº À̽º¸¶¿¤ »ç¶÷À̹ǷΠ±Ý ±Í°í¸®°¡ ÀÖ¾úÀ½À̶ó
8:24 Then Gideon said to them, I have a request to make to you; let every man give me the ear-rings he has taken. (For they had gold ear-rings, because they were Ishmaelites.)
8:24 And Gideon said unto them, I would desire a request of you, that all of you would give me every man the earrings of his prey. (For they had golden earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.)

8:25 ¹«¸®°¡ ´ë´äÇ쵂 ¿ì¸®°¡ Áñ°ÅÀÌ µå¸®¸®ÀÌ´Ù ÇÏ°í °Ñ¿ÊÀ» Æì°í °¢±â Å»ÃëÇÑ ±Í°í¸®¸¦ ±× °¡¿îµ¥ ´øÁö´Ï
8:25 And they gave answer, We will gladly give them. So they put down a robe, every man dropping into it the ear-rings he had taken.
8:25 And they answered, We will willingly give them. And they spread a garment, and did cast therein every man the earrings of his prey.

8:26 ±âµå¿ÂÀÇ Ã»ÇÑ ¹Ù ±Ý ±Í°í¸® Áß¼ö°¡ ±Ý ÀÏõ Ä¥¹é ¼¼°ÖÀÌ¿ä ±× ¿Ü¿¡ ¶Ç »õ ´Þ Çü»óÀÇ Àå½Ä°ú Æй°°ú ¹Ìµð¾È ¿ÕµéÀÇ ÀÔ¾ú´ø ÀÚ»ö ÀǺ¹°ú ±× ¾à´ë ¸ñ¿¡ µÑ·¶´ø »ç½½ÀÌ ÀÖ¾ú´õ¶ó
8:26 The weight of the gold ear-rings which he got from them was one thousand, seven hundred shekels of gold; in addition to the moon-ornaments and jewels and the purple robes which were on the kings of Midian, and the chains on their camels' necks.
8:26 And the weight of the golden earrings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold; beside ornaments, and collars, and purple raiment that was on the kings of Midian, and beside the chains that were about their camels' necks.

8:27 ±âµå¿ÂÀÌ ±× ±ÝÀ¸·Î ¿¡º¿ Çϳª¸¦ ¸¸µé¾î¼­ ÀÚ±âÀÇ ¼ºÀ¾ ¿Àºê¶ó¿¡ µÎ¾ú´õ´Ï ¿Â À̽º¶ó¿¤ÀÌ ±×°ÍÀ» À½¶õÇÏ°Ô À§ÇϹǷΠ±×°ÍÀÌ ±âµå¿Â°ú ±× Áý¿¡ ¿Ã¹«°¡ µÇ´Ï¶ó
8:27 And Gideon made an ephod from them and put it up in his town Ophrah; and all Israel went after it there and were false to the Lord; and it became a cause of sin to Gideon and his house.
8:27 And Gideon made an ephod thereof, and put it in his city, even in Ophrah: and all Israel went thither a whoring after it: which thing became a snare unto Gideon, and to his house.

8:28 ¹Ìµð¾ÈÀÌ À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼Õ ¾Õ¿¡ º¹Á¾ÇÏ¿© ´Ù½Ã´Â ±× ¸Ó¸®¸¦ µéÁö ¸øÇÏ¿´À¸¹Ç·Î ±âµå¿ÂÀÇ »ç´Â ³¯ µ¿¾È »ç½Ê ³â¿¡ ±× ¶¥ÀÌ ÅÂÆòÇÏ¿´´õ¶ó
8:28 So Midian was broken before the children of Israel and the Midianites never got back their strength. And the land had peace for forty years, in the days of Gideon.
8:28 Thus was Midian subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted up their heads no more. And the country was in quietness forty years in the days of Gideon.

8:29 ¡Û ¿ä¾Æ½ºÀÇ ¾Æµé ¿©·ì¹Ù¾ËÀÌ µ¹¾Æ°¡¼­ ÀÚ±â Áý¿¡ °ÅÇÏ¿´´Âµ¥
8:29 And Jerubbaal, the son of Joash, went back to his house and was living there.
8:29 And Jerubbaal the son of Joash went and dwelt in his own house.

8:30 ±âµå¿ÂÀÌ ¾Æ³»°¡ ¸¹À¸¹Ç·Î ¸ö¿¡¼­ ³ºÀº ¾ÆµéÀÌ Ä¥½Ê ÀÎÀ̾ú°í
8:30 Gideon had seventy sons, the offspring of his body; for he had a number of wives.
8:30 And Gideon had threescore and ten sons of his body begotten: for he had many wives.

8:31 ¼¼°×¿¡ Àִ øµµ ¾ÆµéÀ» ³º¾ÒÀ¸¹Ç·Î ±× À̸§À» ¾Æºñ¸á·ºÀ̶ó ÇÏ¿´´õ¶ó
8:31 And the servant-wife he had in Shechem had a son by him, to whom he gave the name Abimelech.
8:31 And his concubine that was in Shechem, she also bare him a son, whose name he called Abimelech.

8:32 ¿ä¾Æ½ºÀÇ ¾Æµé ±âµå¿ÂÀÌ ³ªÀÌ ¸¹¾Æ Á×À¸¸Å ¾Æºñ¿¡¼¿ »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¿Àºê¶ó¿¡ ÀÖ´Â ±×ÀÇ ¾Æºñ ¿ä¾Æ½ºÀÇ ¹¦½Ç¿¡ Àå»çÇÏ¿´´õ¶ó
8:32 And Gideon, the son of Joash, came to his end when he was very old, and his body was put in the resting-place of Joash his father, in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
8:32 And Gideon the son of Joash died in a good old age, and was buried in the tomb of Joash his father, in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

8:33 ¡Û ±âµå¿ÂÀÌ ÀÌ¹Ì Á×À¸¸Å À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼ÕÀÌ µ¹ÀÌÄÑ ¹Ù¾ËµéÀ» À½¶õÇÏ°Ô À§ÇÏ°í ¶Ç ¹Ù¾Ëºê¸´À» ÀÚ±âµéÀÇ ½ÅÀ¸·Î »ï°í
8:33 And after the death of Gideon, the children of Israel again went after the gods of Canaan and were false to the Lord, and made Baal-berith their god.
8:33 And it came to pass, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel turned again, and went a whoring after Baalim, and made Baalberith their god.

8:34 »ç¸é ¸ðµç ´ëÀûÀÇ ¼Õ¿¡¼­ ÀÚ±âµéÀ» °ÇÁ®³»½Å ¿©È£¿Í ÀÚ±âµéÀÇ Çϳª´ÔÀ» ±â¾ïÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇϸç
8:34 And the children of Israel did not keep in their minds the Lord their God, who had been their saviour from all their haters on every side;
8:34 And the children of Israel remembered not the LORD their God, who had delivered them out of the hands of all their enemies on every side:

8:35 And they were not kind to the house of Jerubbaal, that is, Gideon, in reward for all the good he had done to Israel.

9:1 Now Abimelech, the son of Jerubbaal, went to Shechem to his mother's family, and said to them and to all the family of his mother's father,
9:1 And Abimelech the son of Jerubbaal went to Shechem unto his mother's brethren, and communed with them, and with all the family of the house of his mother's father, saying,

9:2 Say now in the ears of all the townsmen of Shechem, Is it better for you to be ruled by all the seventy sons of Jerubbaal or by one man only? And keep in mind that I am your bone and your flesh.
9:2 Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Whether is better for you, either that all the sons of Jerubbaal, which are threescore and ten persons, reign over you, or that one reign over you? remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.

9:3 So his mother's family said all this about him in the ears of all the townsmen of Shechem: and their hearts were turned to Abimelech, for they said, He is our brother.
9:3 And his mother's brethren spoke of him in the ears of all the men of Shechem all these words: and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said, He is our brother.

9:4 And they gave him seventy shekels of silver from the house of Baal-berith, with which Abimelech got the support of a number of uncontrolled and good-for-nothing persons.
9:4 And they gave him threescore and ten pieces of silver out of the house of Baalberith, wherewith Abimelech hired vain and light persons, which followed him.

9:5 Then he went to his father's house at Ophrah, and put his brothers, the seventy sons of Jerubbaal, to death on the same stone; however, Jotham, the youngest, kept himself safe by going away to a secret place.
9:5 And he went unto his father's house at Ophrah, and slew his brethren the sons of Jerubbaal, being threescore and ten persons, upon one stone: notwithstanding yet Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal was left; for he hid himself.

9:6 ¼¼°× ¸ðµç »ç¶÷°ú ¹Ð·Î ¸ðµç Á·¼ÓÀÌ ¸ð¿© °¡¼­ ¼¼°×¿¡ ÀÖ´Â ±âµÕ »ó¼ö¸®³ª¹« ¾Æ·¡¼­ ¾Æºñ¸á·ºÀ¸·Î ¿ÕÀ» »ïÀ¸´Ï¶ó
9:6 And all the townsmen of Shechem and all Beth-millo came together and went and made Abimelech their king, by the oak of the pillar in Shechem.
9:6 And all the men of Shechem gathered together, and all the house of Millo, and went, and made Abimelech king, by the plain of the pillar that was in Shechem.

9:7 Now Jotham, on hearing of it, went to the top of Mount Gerizim, and crying out with a loud voice said to them, Give ear to me, you townsmen of Shechem, so that God may give ear to you.
9:7 And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said unto them, Hearken unto me, all of you men of Shechem, that God may hearken unto you.

9:8 One day the trees went out to make a king for themselves; and they said to the olive-tree, Be king over us.
9:8 The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said unto the olive tree, Reign you over us.

9:9 But the olive-tree said to them, Am I to give up my wealth of oil, by which men give honour to God, and go waving over the trees?
9:9 But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?

9:10 ³ª¹«µéÀÌ ¶Ç ¹«È­°ú³ª¹«¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ³Ê´Â ¿Í¼­ ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ¿ÕÀÌ µÇ¶ó ÇϸÅ
9:10 Then the trees said to the fig-tree, You come and be king over us.
9:10 And the trees said to the fig tree, Come you, and reign over us.

9:11 But the fig-tree said to them, Am I to give up my sweet taste and my good fruit and go waving over the trees?
9:11 But the fig tree said unto them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees?

9:12 ³ª¹«µéÀÌ ¶Ç Æ÷µµ³ª¹«¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ³Ê´Â ¿Í¼­ ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ¿ÕÀÌ µÇ¶ó ÇϸÅ
9:12 Then the trees said to the vine, You come and be king over us.
9:12 Then said the trees unto the vine, Come you, and reign over us.

9:13 Æ÷µµ³ª¹«°¡ ±×µé¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ Çϳª´Ô°ú »ç¶÷À» ±â»Ú°Ô ÇÏ´Â ³ªÀÇ »õ ¼úÀ» ³»°¡ ¾îÂî ¹ö¸®°í °¡¼­ ³ª¹«µé À§¿¡ ¿äµ¿Çϸ®¿ä ÇÑÁö¶ó
9:13 But the vine said to them, Am I to give up my wine, which makes glad God and men, to go waving over the trees?
9:13 And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine, which cheers God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?

9:14 ÀÌ¿¡ ¸ðµç ³ª¹«°¡ °¡½Ã³ª¹«¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ³Ê´Â ¿Í¼­ ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ¿ÕÀÌ µÇ¶ó ÇϸÅ
9:14 Then all the trees said to the thorn, You come and be king over us.
9:14 Then said all the trees unto the bramble, Come you, and reign over us.

9:15 And the thorn said to the trees, If it is truly your desire to make me your king, then come and put your faith in my shade; and if not, may fire come out of the thorn, burning up the cedars of Lebanon.
9:15 And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth all of you anoint me king over you, then come and put your trust in my shadow: and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.

9:16 ÀÌÁ¦ ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¾Æºñ¸á·ºÀ» ¼¼¿ö ¿ÕÀ» »ï¾ÒÀ¸´Ï ³ÊÈñ ÇàÇÑ °ÍÀÌ °ú¿¬ Áø½ÇÇÏ°í ÀǷοì³Ä ÀÌ°ÍÀÌ ¿©·ì¹Ù¾Ë°ú ±× ÁýÀ» ¼±´ëÇÔÀÌ³Ä ÀÌ°ÍÀÌ ±× ÇàÇÑ ´ë·Î ±×¿¡°Ô º¸´äÇÔÀ̳Ä
9:16 So now, if you have done truly and uprightly in making Abimelech king, and if you have done well to Jerubbaal and his house in reward for the work of his hands;
9:16 Now therefore, if all of you have done truly and sincerely, in that all of you have made Abimelech king, and if all of you have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done unto him according to the deserving of his hands;

9:17 ¿ì¸® ¾Æ¹öÁö°¡ Àü¿¡ Á×À½À» ¹«¸¨¾²°í ³ÊÈñ¸¦ À§ÇÏ¿© ½Î¿ö ¹Ìµð¾ÈÀÇ ¼Õ¿¡¼­ ³ÊÈñ¸¦ °ÇÁ®³»¾ú°Å´Ã
9:17 (For my father made war for you, and put his life in danger, and made you free from the hands of Midian;
9:17 (For my father fought for you, and adventured his life far, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian:

9:18 ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¿À´Ã³¯ ÀϾ¼­ ¿ì¸® ¾Æ¹öÁöÀÇ ÁýÀ» Ãļ­ ±× ¾Æµé Ä¥½Ê ÀÎÀ» ÇÑ ¹Ý¼® À§¿¡¼­ Á×ÀÌ°í ±× ¿©Á¾ÀÇ ¾Æµé ¾Æºñ¸á·ºÀÌ ³ÊÈñ ÇüÁ¦°¡ µÈ´Ù°í ±×¸¦ ¼¼¿ö ¼¼°× »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¿ÕÀ» »ï¾Òµµ´Ù
9:18 And you have gone against my father's family this day, and have put to death his sons, even seventy men on one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his servant-wife, king over the townsmen of Shechem because he is your brother;)
9:18 And all of you are risen up against my father's house this day, and have slain his sons, threescore and ten persons, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his maidservant, king over the men of Shechem, because he is your brother;)

9:19 If then you have done what is true and upright to Jerubbaal and his family this day, may you have joy in Abimelech, and may he have joy in you;
9:19 If all of you then have dealt truly and sincerely with Jerubbaal and with his house this day, then rejoice all of you in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you:

9:20 But if not, may fire come out from Abimelech, burning up the townsmen of Shechem and Beth-millo; and may fire come out from the townsmen of Shechem and Beth-millo, for the destruction of Abimelech.
9:20 But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech.

9:21 Then Jotham straight away went in flight to Beer, and was living there for fear of his brother Abimelech.
9:21 And Jotham ran away, and fled, and went to Beer, and dwelt there, for fear of Abimelech his brother.

9:22 So Abimelech was chief over Israel for three years.
9:22 When Abimelech had reigned three years over Israel,

9:23 And God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the townsmen of Shechem; and the townsmen of Shechem were false to Abimelech;
9:23 Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech:

9:24 So that punishment for the violent attack made on the seventy sons of Jerubbaal, and for their blood, might come on Abimelech, their brother, who put them to death, and on the townsmen of Shechem who gave him their help in putting his brothers to death.
9:24 That the cruelty done to the threescore and ten sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid upon Abimelech their brother, which slew them; and upon the men of Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his brethren.

9:25 And the townsmen of Shechem put secret watchers on the tops of the mountains, and they made attacks on all who went by on the road and took their goods; and word of this came to Abimelech.
9:25 And the men of Shechem set hidden attackers in wait for him in the top of the mountains, and they robbed all that came along that way by them: and it was told Abimelech.

9:26 Then Gaal, the son of Ebed, came with his brothers, and went over to Shechem; and the men of Shechem put their faith in him.
9:26 And Gaal the son of Ebed came with his brethren, and went over to Shechem: and the men of Shechem put their confidence in him.

9:27 And they went out into their fields and got in the fruit of their vines, and when the grapes had been crushed, they made a holy feast and went into the house of their god, and over their food and drink they were cursing Abimelech.
9:27 And they went out into the fields, and gathered their vineyards, and trode the grapes, and made merry, and went into the house of their god, and did eat and drink, and cursed Abimelech.

9:28 And Gaal, the son of Ebed, said, Who is Abimelech and who is Shechem, that we are to be his servants? Is it not right for the son of Jerubbaal and Zebul his captain to be servants to the men of Hamor, the father of Shechem? But why are we to be his servants?
9:28 And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? is not he the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer? serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem: for why should we serve him?

9:29 If only I had authority over this people! I would put Abimelech out of the way, and I would say to Abimelech, Make your army strong, and come out.
9:29 And would to God this people were under my hand! then would I remove Abimelech. And he said to Abimelech, Increase yours army, and come out.

9:30 Now Zebul, the ruler of the town, hearing what Gaal, the son of Ebed, had said, was moved to wrath.
9:30 And when Zebul the ruler of the city heard the words of Gaal the son of Ebed, his anger was kindled.

9:31 And he sent to Abimelech at Arumah, saying, See, Gaal, the son of Ebed, and his brothers have come to Shechem, and they are working up the town against you.
9:31 And he sent messengers unto Abimelech privately, saying, Behold, Gaal the son of Ebed and his brethren be come to Shechem; and, behold, they fortify the city against you.

9:33 And in the morning, when the sun is up, get up early and make a rush on the town; and when he and his people come out against you, do to them whatever you have a chance to do.
9:33 And it shall be, that in the morning, as soon as the sun is up, you shall rise early, and set upon the city: and, behold, when he and the people that is with him come out against you, then may you do to them as you shall find occasion.

9:34 So Abimelech and the people with him got up by night, in four bands, to make a surprise attack on Shechem.
9:34 And Abimelech rose up, and all the people that were with him, by night, and they laid wait against Shechem in four companies.

9:35 And Gaal, the son of Ebed, went out, and took his place at the doorway into the town; then Abimelech and his people got up from the place where they had been waiting.
9:35 And Gaal the son of Ebed went out, and stood in the entering of the gate of the city: and Abimelech rose up, and the people that were with him, from lying in wait.

9:36 And when Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, See! people are coming down from the tops of the mountains. And Zebul said to him, You see the shade of the mountains like men.
9:36 And when Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, Behold, there come people down from the top of the mountains. And Zebul said unto him, You see the shadow of the mountains as if they were men.

9:37 And Gaal said again, See! people are coming down from the middle of the land, and one band is coming by way of the oak-tree of the Seers.
9:37 And Gaal spoke again, and said, See there come people down by the middle of the land, and another company come along by the plain of Meonenim.

9:38 ½ººÒÀÌ ±×¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ³×°¡ Àü¿¡ ¸»Çϱ⸦ ¾Æºñ¸á·ºÀÌ ´©±¸°ü´ë ¿ì¸®°¡ ±×¸¦ ¼¶±â¸®¿ä ÇÏ´ø ±× ÀÔÀÌ ÀÌÁ¦ ¾îµð ÀÖ´À³Ä ÀÌ°¡ ³ÊÀÇ ¾÷½Å¿©±â´ø ¹é¼ºÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï³Ä ûÇϳë´Ï ÀÌÁ¦ ³ª°¡¼­ ±×µé°ú ½Î¿ì¶ó
9:38 Then Zebul said to him, Now where is your loud talk when you said, Who is Abimelech that we are to be his servants? Is this not the people whom you were rating so low? Go out now, and make war on them.
9:38 Then said Zebul unto him, Where is now your mouth, wherewith you said, Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him? is not this the people that you have despised? go out, I pray now, and fight with them.

9:39 So Gaal went out at the head of the townsmen of Shechem and made war on Abimelech.
9:39 And Gaal went out before the men of Shechem, and fought with Abimelech.

9:40 And Abimelech went after him and he went in flight before him; and a great number were falling by the sword all the way up to the town.
9:40 And Abimelech chased him, and he fled before him, and many were overthrown and wounded, even unto the entering of the gate.

9:41 ¾Æºñ¸á·ºÀº ¾Æ·ç¸¶¿¡ °ÅÇÏ°í ½ººÒÀº °¡¾Ë°ú ±× ÇüÁ¦¸¦ ÂѾƳ»¾î ¼¼°×¿¡ °ÅÇÏÁö ¸øÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ´õ´Ï
9:41 Then Abimelech went back to Arumah; and Zebul sent Gaal and his brothers away and would not let them go on living in Shechem.
9:41 And Abimelech dwelt at Arumah: and Zebul thrust out Gaal and his brethren, that they should not dwell in Shechem.

9:42 Now the day after, the people went out into the fields; and news of it came to Abimelech.
9:42 And it came to pass on the next day, that the people went out into the field; and they told Abimelech.

9:43 And he took his people, separating them into three bands, and was waiting secretly in the field; and when he saw the people coming out of the town, he went up and made an attack on them.
9:43 And he took the people, and divided them into three companies, and laid wait in the field, and looked, and, behold, the people were come forth out of the city; and he rose up against them, and stroke them.

9:44 And Abimelech with his band made a rush, and took up their position at the doorway into the town; and the other two bands made a rush on all those who were in the fields, and overcame them.
9:44 And Abimelech, and the company that was with him, rushed forward, and stood in the entering of the gate of the city: and the two other companies ran upon all the people that were in the fields, and slew them.

9:45 And all that day Abimelech was fighting against the town; and he took it, and put to death the people who were in it, and had the town pulled down and covered with salt.
9:45 And Abimelech fought against the city all that day; and he took the city, and slew the people that was therein, and beat down the city, and sowed it with salt.

9:46 Then all the townsmen of the tower of Shechem, hearing of it, went into the inner room of the house of El-berith.
9:46 And when all the men of the tower of Shechem heard that, they entered into an hold of the house of the god Berith.

9:47 ¼¼°× ¸Á´ëÀÇ ¸ðµç »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¸ðÀÎ °ÍÀÌ ¾Æºñ¸á·º¿¡°Ô µé¸®¸Å
9:47 And word was given to Abimelech that all the men of the tower of Shechem were there together.
9:47 And it was told Abimelech, that all the men of the tower of Shechem were gathered together.

9:48 Then Abimelech went up to Mount Zalmon, with all his people; and Abimelech took an axe in his hand and, cutting down branches of trees, took them and put them on his back. And he said to the people who were with him, Be quick and do as you have seen me do.
9:48 And Abimelech got him up to mount Zalmon, he and all the people that were with him; and Abimelech took an axe in his hand, and cut down a bough from the trees, and took it, and laid it on his shoulder, and said unto the people that were with him, What all of you have seen me do, make haste, and do as I have done.

9:49 So all the people got branches, every man cutting down a branch, and they went with Abimelech at their head and, massing the branches against the inner room, put fire to the room over them; so all those who were in the tower of Shechem, about a thousand men and women, were burned to death with it.
9:49 And all the people likewise cut down every man his bough, and followed Abimelech, and put them to the hold, and set the hold on fire upon them; so that all the men of the tower of Shechem died also, about a thousand men and women.

9:50 Then Abimelech went to Thebez, and put his army in position against Thebez and took it.
9:50 Then went Abimelech to Thebez, and encamped against Thebez, and took it.

9:51 But in the middle of the town there was a strong tower, to which all the men and women of the town went in flight and, shutting themselves in, went up to the roof of the tower.
9:51 But there was a strong tower within the city, and thither fled all the men and women, and all they of the city, and shut it to them, and got them up to the top of the tower.

9:52 ¾Æºñ¸á·ºÀÌ ¸Á´ë ¾Õ¿¡ À̸£·¯¼­ Ä¡¸ç ¸Á´ëÀÇ ¹®¿¡ °¡±îÀÌ ³ª¾Æ°¡¼­ ±×°ÍÀ» ºÒ»ç¸£·Á ÇÏ´õ´Ï
9:52 And Abimelech came to the tower and made an attack on it, and got near to the door of the tower for the purpose of firing it.
9:52 And Abimelech came unto the tower, and fought against it, and went hard unto the door of the tower to burn it with fire.

9:53 ÇÑ ¿©ÀÎÀÌ ¸Ëµ¹ À­Â¦À» ¾Æºñ¸á·ºÀÇ ¸Ó¸® À§¿¡ ³»·Á´øÁ® ±× µÎ°ñÀ» ±ú¶ß¸®´Ï
9:53 But a certain woman sent a great stone, such as is used for crushing grain, on to the head of Abimelech, cracking the bone.
9:53 And a certain woman cast a piece of a millstone upon Abimelech's head, and all to brake his skull.

9:54 ¾Æºñ¸á·ºÀÌ ÀÚ±âÀÇ º´±â ÀâÀº ¼Ò³âÀ» ±ÞÈ÷ ºÒ·¯ ±×¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ³Ê´Â Ä®À» »©¾î ³ª¸¦ Á×À̶ó »ç¶÷µéÀÌ ³ª¸¦ °¡¸®ÄÑ À̸£±â¸¦ ±×°¡ ¿©Àο¡°Ô Á×¾ú´Ù ÇÒ±î Çϳë¶ó ¼Ò³âÀÌ Â¸Å ±×°¡ °ð Á×ÀºÁö¶ó
9:54 Then quickly crying out to his body-servant, he said to him, Take out your sword and put an end to me straight away, so that men may not say of me, His death was the work of a woman. So the young man put his sword through him, causing his death.
9:54 Then he called hastily unto the young man his armour bearer, and said unto him, Draw your sword, and slay me, that men say not of me, A women slew him. And his young man thrust him through, and he died.

9:55 And when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, they went away, every man to his place.
9:55 And when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, they departed every man unto his place.

9:56 In this way Abimelech was rewarded by God for the evil he had done to his father in putting his seventy brothers to death;
9:56 Thus God rendered the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did unto his father, in slaying his seventy brethren:

9:57 And God sent back on to the heads of the men of Shechem all the evil they had done, and the curse of Jotham, the son of Jerubbaal, came on them.
9:57 And all the evil of the men of Shechem did God render upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.

10:1 Now after Abimelech, Tola, the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, became the saviour of Israel; he was living in Shamir in the hill-country of Ephraim.
10:1 And after Abimelech there arose to defend Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim.

10:3 And after him came Jair the Gileadite, who was judge over Israel for twenty-two years.
10:3 And after him arose Jair, a Gileadite, and judged Israel twenty and two years.

10:4 And he had thirty sons, who went on thirty young asses; and they had thirty towns in the land of Gilead, which are named Havvoth-Jair to this day.
10:4 And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havothjair unto this day, which are in the land of Gilead.

10:5 And at the death of Jair his body was put to rest in the earth in Kamon.

10:6 And again the children of Israel did evil in the eyes of the Lord, worshipping the Baals and Astartes, and the gods of Aram and the gods of Zidon and the gods of Moab and the gods of the children of Ammon and the gods of the Philistines; they gave up the Lord and were servants to him no longer.
10:6 And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him.

10:7 And the wrath of the Lord was burning against Israel, and he gave them up into the hands of the Philistines and into the hands of the children of Ammon.
10:7 And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon.

10:8 ±×µéÀÌ ±× ÇغÎÅÍ À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼ÕÀ» ÇдëÇÏ´Ï ¿ä´Ü ÀúÆí ±æ¸£¾Ñ ¾Æ¸ð¸® »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¶¥¿¡ °ÅÇÑ À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼ÕÀÌ ½Ê ÆÈ ³â µ¿¾È Çд븦 ´çÇÏ¿´°í
10:8 And that year the children of Israel were crushed under their yoke; for eighteen years all the children of Israel on the other side of Jordan, in the land of the Amorites which is in Gilead, were cruelly crushed down.
10:8 And that year they vexed and oppressed the children of Israel: eighteen years, all the children of Israel that were on the other side Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.

10:9 And the children of Ammon went over Jordan, to make war against Judah and Benjamin and the house of Ephraim; and Israel was in great trouble.
10:9 Moreover the children of Ammon passed over Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sore distressed.

10:10 Then the children of Israel, crying out to the Lord, said, Great is our sin against you, for we have given up our God and have been servants to the Baals.
10:10 And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, saying, We have sinned against you, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served Baalim.

10:11 And the Lord said to the children of Israel, Were not the Egyptians and the Amorites and the children of Ammon and the Philistines
10:11 And the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Did not I deliver you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?

10:12 And the Zidonians and Amalek and Midian crushing you down, and in answer to your cry did I not give you salvation from their hands?
10:12 The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and all of you cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.

10:13 But, for all this, you have given me up and have been servants to other gods: so I will be your saviour no longer.
10:13 Yet all of you have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

10:14 Go, send up your cry for help to the gods of your selection; let them be your saviours in the time of your trouble.

10:15 And the children of Israel said to the Lord, We are sinners; do to us whatever seems good to you: only give us salvation this day.
10:15 And the children of Israel said unto the LORD, We have sinned: do you unto us whatsoever seems good unto you; deliver us only, we pray you, this day.

10:16 So they put away the strange gods from among them, and became the Lord's servants; and his soul was angry because of the sorrows of Israel.

10:17 Then the children of Ammon came together and put their army in position in Gilead. And the children of Israel came together and put their army in position in Mizpah.
10:17 Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpeh.

10:18 And the people of Israel said to one another, Who will be the first to make an attack on the children of Ammon? We will make him head over all Gilead.
10:18 And the people and princes of Gilead said one to another, What man is he that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

11:1 Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a great man of war; he was the son of a loose woman, and Gilead was his father.
11:1 Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valour, and he was the son of an harlot: and Gilead brings forth Jephthah.

11:2 And Gilead's wife gave birth to sons, and when her sons became men, they sent Jephthah away, saying, You have no part in the heritage of our father's house, for you are the son of another woman.
11:2 And Gilead's wife bare him sons; and his wife's sons grew up, and they thrust out Jephthah, and said unto him, You shall not inherit in our father's house; for you are the son of a strange woman.

11:3 So Jephthah went in flight from his brothers and was living in the land of Tob, where a number of good-for-nothing men, joining Jephthah, went out with him on his undertakings.
11:3 Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him.

11:4 Now after a time the children of Ammon made war against Israel.
11:4 And it came to pass in process of time, that the children of Ammon made war against Israel.

11:5 And when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the responsible men of Gilead went to get Jephthah back from the land of Tob;
11:5 And it was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to fetch Jephthah out of the land of Tob:

11:6 ÀÔ´Ù¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ¿ì¸®°¡ ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼Õ°ú ½Î¿ì·Á Çϳª´Ï ´ç½ÅÀº ¿Í¼­ ¿ì¸®ÀÇ Àå°üÀÌ µÇ¶ó
11:6 And they said to Jephthah, Come and be our chief so that we may make war against the children of Ammon.
11:6 And they said unto Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.

11:7 But Jephthah said to the responsible men of Gilead, Did you not, in your hate for me, send me away from my father's house? Why do you come to me now when you are in trouble?
11:7 And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, Did not all of you hate me, and expel me out of my father's house? and why are all of you come unto me now when all of you are in distress?

11:8 And the responsible men of Gilead said to Jephthah, That is the reason we have come back to you; so go with us and make war against the children of Ammon, and we will make you our head over all the people of Gilead.
11:8 And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, Therefore we return to you now, that you may go with us, and fight against the children of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

11:9 Then Jephthah said to the responsible men of Gilead, If you take me back to make war against the children of Ammon, and if with the help of the Lord I overcome them, will you make me your head?
11:9 And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, If all of you bring me home again to fight against the children of Ammon, and the LORD deliver them before me, shall I be your head?

11:10 And the responsible men of Gilead said to Jephthah, May the Lord be our witness: we will certainly do as you say.
11:10 And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, The LORD be witness between us, if we do not so according to your words.

11:11 So Jephthah went with the responsible men of Gilead, and the people made him head and chief over them; and Jephthah said all these things before the Lord in Mizpah.
11:11 Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah uttered all his words before the LORD in Mizpeh.

11:12 ¡Û ÀÔ´Ù°¡ ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ ¿Õ¿¡°Ô »çÀÚ¸¦ º¸³»¾î À̸£µÇ ³×°¡ ³ª¿Í ¹«½¼ »ó°üÀÌ Àֱ⿡ ³» ¶¥À» Ä¡·¯ ³»°Ô ¿Ô´À³Ä
11:12 Then Jephthah sent men to the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What have you against me that you have come to make war against my land?
11:12 And Jephthah sent messengers unto the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What have you to do with me, that you are come against me to fight in my land?

11:13 ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ ¿ÕÀÌ ÀÔ´ÙÀÇ »çÀÚ¿¡°Ô ´ë´äÇ쵂 À̽º¶ó¿¤ÀÌ ¾Ö±Á¿¡¼­ ¿Ã¶ó¿Ã ¶§¿¡ ¾Æ¸£³í¿¡¼­ºÎÅÍ ¾åº¹°ú ¿ä´Ü±îÁö ³» ¶¥À» ÃëÇÑ ¿¬°í´Ï ÀÌÁ¦ ±×°ÍÀ» È­ÆòÈ÷ ´Ù½Ã µ¹¸®¶ó
11:13 And the king of the children of Ammon said to the men sent by Jephthah, Because Israel, when he came up out of Egypt, took away my land, from the Arnon as far as the Jabbok and as far as Jordan: so now, give me back those lands quietly.
11:13 And the king of the children of Ammon answered unto the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came up out of Egypt, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and unto Jordan: now therefore restore those lands again peaceably.

11:14 ÀÔ´Ù°¡ ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ ¿Õ¿¡°Ô ´Ù½Ã »çÀÚ¸¦ º¸³»¾î
11:14 And Jephthah sent again to the king of the children of Ammon,
11:14 And Jephthah sent messengers again unto the king of the children of Ammon:

11:15 And said to him, This is the word of Jephthah: Israel did not take away the land of Moab or the land of the children of Ammon;
11:15 And said unto him, Thus says Jephthah, Israel took not away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon:

11:16 À̽º¶ó¿¤ÀÌ ¾Ö±Á¿¡¼­ ¿Ã¶ó¿Ã ¶§¿¡ ±¤¾ß·Î ÇàÇÏ¿© È«ÇØ¿¡ À̸£°í °¡µ¥½º¿¡ À̸£·¯¼­´Â
11:16 But when they came up from Egypt, Israel went through the waste land to the Red Sea and came to Kadesh;
11:16 But when Israel came up from Egypt, and walked through the wilderness unto the Red sea, and came to Kadesh;

11:17 Then Israel sent men to the king of Edom saying, Let me now go through your land; but the king of Edom did not give ear to them. And in the same way he sent to the king of Moab, but he would not; so Israel went on living in Kadesh.
11:17 Then Israel sent messengers unto the king of Edom, saying, Let me, I pray you, pass through your land: but the king of Edom would not hearken thereto. And in like manner they sent unto the king of Moab: but he would not consent: and Israel abode in Kadesh.

11:18 ±× ÈÄ¿¡ ±¤¾ß¸¦ Áö³ª ¿¡µ¼ ¶¥°ú ¸ð¾Ð ¶¥À» µÑ·¯ ÇàÇÏ¿© ¸ð¾Ð ¶¥ µ¿ÆíÀ¸·ÎºÎÅÍ ¿Í¼­ ¾Æ¸£³í ÀúÆí¿¡ Áø ÃÆ°í ¾Æ¸£³íÀº ¸ð¾Ð °æ°èÀ̹ǷΠ±× °æ³»¿¡´Â µé¾î°¡Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿´À¸¸ç
11:18 Then he went on through the waste land and round the land of Edom and the land of Moab, and came by the east side of the land of Moab, and put up their tents on the other side of the Arnon; they did not come inside the limit of Moab, for the Arnon was the limit of Moab.
11:18 Then they went along through the wilderness, and compassed the land of Edom, and the land of Moab, and came by the east side of the land of Moab, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, but came not within the border of Moab: for Arnon was the border of Moab.

11:19 And Israel sent men to Sihon, king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said to him, Let me now go through your land to my place.
11:19 And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said unto him, Let us pass, we pray you, through your land into my place.

11:20 ½ÃÈ¥ÀÌ À̽º¶ó¿¤À» ¹ÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿© ±× Áö°æÀ¸·Î Áö³ªÁö ¸øÇÏ°Ô ÇÒ »Ó ¾Æ´Ï¶ó ±× ¸ðµç ¹é¼ºÀ» ¸ð¾Æ ¾ßÇϽº¿¡ Áø Ä¡°í À̽º¶ó¿¤À» Ä¡¹Ç·Î
11:20 But Sihon would not give way and let Israel go through his land; and Sihon got together all his people, and put his army in position in Jahaz, and made war on Israel.
11:20 But Sihon trusted not Israel to pass through his coast: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and pitched in Jahaz, and fought against Israel.

11:21 À̽º¶ó¿¤ÀÇ Çϳª´Ô ¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ½ÃÈ¥°ú ±× ¸ðµç ¹é¼ºÀ» À̽º¶ó¿¤ÀÇ ¼Õ¿¡ ºÙÀ̽øŠÀ̽º¶ó¿¤ÀÌ Ãļ­ ±× ¶¥ °Å¹Î ¾Æ¸ð¸® »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¿Â ¶¥À» ÃëÇϵÇ
11:21 And the Lord, the God of Israel, gave Sihon and all his people into the hands of Israel, and they overcame them; so all the land of the Amorites, the people of that land, became Israel's.
11:21 And the LORD God of Israel delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they stroke them: so Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that country.

11:22 ¾Æ¸£³í¿¡¼­ºÎÅÍ ¾åº¹±îÁö¿Í ±¤¾ß¿¡¼­ºÎÅÍ ¿ä´Ü±îÁö ¾Æ¸ð¸® »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¿Â Áö°æÀ» ÃëÇÏ¿´¾ú´À´Ï¶ó
11:22 All the limit of the Amorites was theirs, from the Arnon as far as the Jabbok and from the waste land even to Jordan.
11:22 And they possessed all the coasts of the Amorites, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and from the wilderness even unto Jordan.

11:23 À̽º¶ó¿¤ Çϳª´Ô ¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ÀÌ°°ÀÌ ¾Æ¸ð¸® »ç¶÷À» Àڱ⠹鼺 À̽º¶ó¿¤ ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ÂѾƳ»¼Ì°Å´Ã ³×°¡ ±× ¶¥À» ¾ò°íÀÚ ÇÏ´Â °ÍÀÌ °¡ÇϳÄ
11:23 So now the Lord, the God of Israel, has taken away their land from the Amorites and given it to his people Israel; are you then to have it?
11:23 So now the LORD God of Israel has dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel, and should you possess it?

11:24 Do you not keep the lands of those whom Chemosh your god sends out from before you? So we will keep all the lands of those whom the Lord our God sends out from before us.
11:24 Will not you possess that which Chemosh your god gives you to possess? So whomsoever the LORD our God shall drive out from before us, them will we possess.

11:25 What! are you any better than Balak, the son of Zippor, king of Moab? Did he ever take up a cause against Israel or make war against them?
11:25 And now are you any thing better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab? did he ever strive against Israel, or did he ever fight against them,

11:26 While Israel was living in Heshbon and its daughter-towns and in Aroer and its daughter-towns and in all the towns which are by the side of the Arnon, for three hundred years, why did you not get them back at that time?
11:26 While Israel dwelt in Heshbon and her towns, and in Aroer and her towns, and in all the cities that be along by the coasts of Arnon, three hundred years? why therefore did all of you not recover them within that time?

11:27 So I have done no wrong against you, but you are doing wrong to me in fighting against me: may the Lord, who is Judge this day, be judge between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.
11:27 Wherefore I have not sinned against you, but you do me wrong to war against me: the LORD the Judge be judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.

11:28 ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼ÕÀÇ ¿ÕÀÌ ÀÔ´ÙÀÇ º¸³»¾î ¸»ÇÑ °ÍÀ» µèÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿´´õ¶ó
11:28 The king of the children of Ammon, however, did not give ear to the words which Jephthah sent to him.
11:28 Nevertheless the king of the children of Ammon hearkened not unto the words of Jephthah which he sent him.

11:29 Then the spirit of the Lord came on Jephthah, and he went through Gilead and Manasseh, and came to Mizpeh of Gilead; and from Mizpeh of Gilead he went over to the children of Ammon.
11:29 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon.

11:30 ±×°¡ ¿©È£¿Í²² ¼­¿øÇÏ¿© °¡·ÎµÇ ÁÖ²²¼­ °ú¿¬ ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼ÕÀ» ³»°Ô ºÙÀ̽øé
11:30 And Jephthah took an oath to the Lord, and said, If you will give the children of Ammon into my hands,
11:30 And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If you shall without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands,

11:31 Then whoever comes out from the door of my house, meeting me when I come back in peace from the children of Ammon, will be the Lord's and I will give him as a burned offering.
11:31 Then it shall be, that whatsoever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD's, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.

11:32 So Jephthah went over to the children of Ammon to make war on them; and the Lord gave them into his hands.
11:32 So Jephthah passed over unto the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands.

11:33 ¾Æ·Î¿¤¿¡¼­ºÎÅÍ ¹Î´Ö¿¡ À̸£±â±îÁö ÀÌ½Ê ¼ºÀ¾À» Ä¡°í ¶Ç ¾Æº§ ±×¶ó¹Ò±îÁö Å©°Ô µµ·úÇÏ´Ï ÀÌ¿¡ ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼ÕÀÌ À̽º¶ó¿¤ ÀÚ¼Õ ¾Õ¿¡ Ç׺¹ÇÏ¿´´õ¶ó
11:33 And he made an attack on them from Aroer all the way to Minnith, overrunning twenty towns, as far as Abel-cheramim, and put great numbers to the sword. So the children of Ammon were crushed before the children of Israel.
11:33 And he stroke them from Aroer, even till you come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.

11:34 ¡Û ÀÔ´Ù°¡ ¹Ì½º¹Ù¿¡ µ¹¾Æ¿Í ÀÚ±â Áý¿¡ À̸¦ ¶§¿¡ ±× µþÀÌ ¼Ò°í¸¦ Àâ°í ÃãÃß¸ç ³ª¿Í¼­ ¿µÁ¢ÇÏ´Ï ÀÌ´Â ±×ÀÇ ¹«³²µ¶³à¶ó
11:34 Then Jephthah came back to his house in Mizpah, and his daughter came out, meeting him on his way with music and with dances; she was his only child; he had no other sons or daughters.
11:34 And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter.

11:35 And when he saw her he was overcome with grief, and said, Ah! my daughter! I am crushed with sorrow, and it is you who are the chief cause of my trouble; for I have made an oath to the Lord and I may not take it back.
11:35 And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! you have brought me very low, and you are one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back.

11:36 µþÀÌ ±×¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ³ªÀÇ ¾Æ¹öÁö¿© ¾Æ¹öÁö²²¼­ ¿©È£¿Í¸¦ ÇâÇÏ¿© ÀÔÀ» ¿©¼ÌÀ¸´Ï ¾Æ¹öÁö ÀÔ¿¡¼­ ³½ ¸»¾¸´ë·Î ³»°Ô ÇàÇϼҼ­ ÀÌ´Â ¿©È£¿Í²²¼­ ¾Æ¹öÁö¸¦ À§ÇÏ¿© ¾Æ¹öÁöÀÇ ´ëÀû ¾Ï¸ó ÀÚ¼Õ¿¡°Ô ¿ø¼ö¸¦ °±À¸¼ÌÀ½ÀÌ´ÏÀÌ´Ù
11:36 And she said to him, My father, you have made an oath to the Lord; do then to me whatever you have said; for the Lord has sent a full reward on your haters, on the children of Ammon.
11:36 And she said unto him, My father, if you have opened your mouth unto the LORD, do to me according to that which has proceeded out of your mouth; forasmuch as the LORD has taken vengeance for you of yours enemies, even of the children of Ammon.

11:37 ¾Æºñ¿¡°Ô ¶Ç À̸£µÇ ÀÌ Àϸ¸ ³»°Ô Çã¶ôÇÏ»ç ³ª¸¦ µÎ ´Þ¸¸ ¿ë³³ÇϼҼ­ ³»°¡ ³ªÀÇ µ¿¹«µé°ú ÇÔ²² »ê¿¡ ¿Ã¶ó°¡¼­ ³ªÀÇ Ã³³à·Î Á×À½À» ÀÎÇÏ¿© ¾Ö°îÇÏ°Ú³ªÀÌ´Ù
11:37 Then she said to her father, Only do this for me: let me have two months to go away into the mountains with my friends, weeping for my sad fate.
11:37 And she said unto her father, Let this thing be done for me: let me alone two months, that I may go up and down upon the mountains, and mourn for my virginity, I and my fellows.

11:38 And he said, Go then. So he sent her away for two months; and she went with her friends to the mountains, weeping for her sad fate.

11:39 And at the end of two months she went back to her father, who did with her as he had said in his oath: and she had never been touched by a man. So it became a rule in Israel,
11:39 And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed: and she knew no man. And it was a custom in Israel,

11:40 For the women to go year by year sorrowing for the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite, four days in every year.

12:1 Now the men of Ephraim came together and took up arms and went over to Zaphon; and they said to Jephthah, Why did you go over to make war against the children of Ammon without sending for us to go with you? Now we will put your house on fire over you.
12:1 And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passed you over to fight against the children of Ammon, and did not call us to go with you? we will burn yours house upon you with fire.

12:2 And Jephthah said to them, I and my people were in danger, and the children of Ammon were very cruel to us, and when I sent for you, you gave me no help against them.
12:2 And Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, all of you delivered me not out of their hands.

12:3 So when I saw that there was no help to be had from you, I put my life in my hand and went over against the children of Ammon, and the Lord gave them into my hands: why then have you come up to me this day to make war on me?
12:3 And when I saw that all of you delivered me not, I put my life in my hands, and passed opposite to the children of Ammon, and the LORD delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are all of you come up unto me this day, to fight against me?

12:4 Then Jephthah got together all the men of Gilead and made war on Ephraim; and the men of Gilead overcame Ephraim.
12:4 Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead stroke Ephraim, because they said, All of you Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.

12:5 And the Gileadites took the crossing-places of Jordan against the Ephraimites; and when any of the men of Ephraim who had gone in flight said, let me go over; the men of Gilead said to him, Are you an Ephraimite? And if he said, No;
12:5 And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when those Ephraimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said unto him, Are you an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;

12:6 Then they said to him, Now say Shibboleth; and he said Sibboleth, and was not able to say it in the right way; then they took him and put him to death at the crossing-places of Jordan; and at that time forty-two thousand Ephraimites were put to death.
12:6 Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.

12:7 Now Jephthah was judge of Israel for six years. And Jephthah the Gileadite came to his death, and his body was put to rest in his town, Mizpeh of Gilead.
12:7 And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.

12:9 He had thirty sons, and thirty daughters whom he sent to other places, and he got thirty wives from other places for his sons. And he was judge of Israel for seven years.
12:9 And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent abroad, and took in thirty daughters from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.

12:11 And after him, Elon the Zebulonite was judge of Israel; and he was judge of Israel for ten years.
12:11 And after him Elon, a Zebulonite, judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.

12:12 And Elon the Zebulonite came to his death, and his body was put to rest in Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.
12:12 And Elon the Zebulonite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the country of Zebulun.

12:13 And after him Abdon the son of Hillel, a Pirathonite, judged Israel.

12:14 He had forty sons and thirty sons' sons who went on seventy young asses; and he was judge of Israel for eight years.
12:14 And he had forty sons and thirty nephews, that rode on threescore and ten ass colts: and he judged Israel eight years.

12:15 And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the mount of the Amalekites.

13:1 And the children of Israel again did evil in the eyes of the Lord; and the Lord gave them into the hands of the Philistines for forty years.

13:3 And the angel of the Lord came to the woman, and said to her, See now! though you have never given birth to children, you will be with child and give birth to a son.
13:3 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, you are barren, and bear not: but you shall conceive, and bear a son.

13:4 Now then take care to have no wine or strong drink and to take no unclean thing for food;
13:4 Now therefore beware, I pray you, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing:

13:5 º¸¶ó ³×°¡ À×ÅÂÇÏ¿© ¾ÆµéÀ» ³ºÀ¸¸®´Ï ±× ¸Ó¸®¿¡ »èµµ¸¦ ´ëÁö ¸»¶ó ÀÌ ¾ÆÀÌ´Â Å¿¡¼­ ³ª¿ÈÀ¸·ÎºÎÅÍ Çϳª´Ô²² ¹ÙÄ¡¿î ³ª½ÇÀÎÀÌ µÊÀ̶ó ±×°¡ ºí·¹¼Â »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¼Õ¿¡¼­ À̽º¶ó¿¤À» ±¸¿øÇϱ⠽ÃÀÛÇϸ®¶ó
13:5 For you are with child and will give birth to a son; his hair is never to be cut, for the child is to be separate to God from his birth; and he will take up the work of freeing Israel from the hands of the Philistines.
13:5 For, lo, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.

13:6 Then the woman came in, and said to her husband, A man came to me, and his form was like the form of a god, causing great fear; I put no question to him about where he came from, and he did not give me his name;
13:6 Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name:

13:7 ±×°¡ ³»°Ô À̸£±â¸¦ º¸¶ó ³×°¡ À×ÅÂÇÏ¿© ¾ÆµéÀ» ³ºÀ¸¸®´Ï Æ÷µµÁÖ¿Í µ¶ÁÖ¸¦ ¸¶½ÃÁö ¸»¸ç ¹«¸© ºÎÁ¤ÇÑ °ÍÀ» ¸ÔÁö ¸»¶ó ÀÌ ¾ÆÀÌ´Â Å¿¡¼­ ³ª¿ÈÀ¸·ÎºÎÅÍ Á×À» ³¯±îÁö Çϳª´Ô²² ¹ÙÄ¡¿î ³ª½ÇÀÎÀÌ µÊÀ̶ó ÇÏ´õÀÌ´Ù
13:7 But he said to me, You are with child and will give birth to a son; and now do not take any wine or strong drink or let anything unclean be your food; for the child will be separate to God from his birth to the day of his death.
13:7 But he said unto me, Behold, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death.

13:8 ¡Û ¸¶³ë¾Æ°¡ ¿©È£¿Í²² ±âµµÇÏ¿© °¡·ÎµÇ ÁÖ¿© ±¸ÇϿɳª´Ï ÁÖÀÇ º¸³»¼Ì´ø Çϳª´ÔÀÇ »ç¶÷À» ¿ì¸®¿¡°Ô ´Ù½Ã ÀÓÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ»ç ±×·Î ¿ì¸®°¡ ±× ³ºÀ» ¾ÆÀÌ¿¡°Ô ¾î¶»°Ô ÇàÇÒ °ÍÀ» ¿ì¸®¿¡°Ô °¡¸£Ä¡°Ô ÇϼҼ­
13:8 Then Manoah made prayer to the Lord, and said, O Lord, let the man of God whom you sent come to us again and make clear to us what we are to do for the child who is to come.
13:8 Then Manoah implored the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which you did send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.

13:9 And God gave ear to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came to the woman again when she was seated in the field; but her husband Manoah was not with her.
13:9 And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her.

13:10 ¿©ÀÎÀÌ ±ÞÈ÷ ´Þ·Á°¡¼­ ±× ³²Æí¿¡°Ô °íÇÏ¿© °¡·ÎµÇ º¸¼Ò¼­ ÀüÀÏ¿¡ ³»°Ô ÀÓÇÏ¿´´ø »ç¶÷ÀÌ ¶Ç ³»°Ô ³ªÅ¸³µ³ªÀÌ´Ù
13:10 So the woman, running quickly, gave her husband the news, saying, I have seen the man who came to me the other day.
13:10 And the woman made haste, and ran, and showed her husband, and said unto him, Behold, the man has appeared unto me, that came unto me the other day.

13:11 ¸¶³ë¾Æ°¡ ÀϾ ¾Æ³»¸¦ µû¶ó°¡¼­ ±× »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô À̸£·¯ ±×¿¡°Ô ¹¯µÇ ´ç½ÅÀÌ ÀÌ ¿©Àο¡°Ô ¸»¾¸ÇϽŠ»ç¶÷ÀÌ´ÏÀÌ±î °¡¶ó»ç´ë ±×·Î¶ó
13:11 And Manoah got up and went after his wife, and came up to the man and said to him, Are you the man who was talking to this woman? And he said, I am.
13:11 And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said unto him, Are you the man that spoke unto the woman? And he said, I am.

13:12 ¸¶³ë¾Æ°¡ °¡·ÎµÇ ´ç½ÅÀÇ ¸»¾¸´ë·Î µÇ±â¸¦ ¿øÇϳªÀÌ´Ù ÀÌ ¾ÆÀ̸¦ ¾î¶»°Ô ±â¸£¿À¸ç ¿ì¸®°¡ ±×¿¡°Ô ¾î¶»°Ô ÇàÇÏ¿À¸®À̱î
13:12 And Manoah said, Now when your words come true, what is to be the rule for the child and what will be his work?
13:12 And Manoah said, Now let your words come to pass. How shall we order the child, and how shall we do unto him?

13:13 And the angel of the Lord said to Manoah, Let the woman take note of what I have said to her.
13:13 And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware.

13:14 Æ÷µµ³ª¹«ÀÇ ¼Ò»êÀ» ¸ÔÁö ¸»¸ç Æ÷µµÁÖ¿Í µ¶ÁÖ¸¦ ¸¶½ÃÁö ¸»¸ç ¹«¸© ºÎÁ¤ÇÑ °ÍÀ» ¸ÔÁö ¸»¾Æ¼­ ³»°¡ ±×¿¡°Ô ¸íÇÑ °ÍÀº ´Ù Áöų °ÍÀ̴϶ó
13:14 She is to have nothing which comes from the vine for her food, and let her take no wine or strong drink or anything which is unclean; let her take care to do all I have given her orders to do.
13:14 She may not eat of any thing that comes of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: all that I commanded her let her observe.

13:15 And Manoah said to the angel of the Lord, Now let us keep you while we make ready a young goat for you.
13:15 And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, I pray you, let us detain you, until we shall have made ready a kid for you.

13:16 And the angel of the Lord said to Manoah, Though you keep me I will not take of your food; but if you will make a burned offering, let it be offered to the Lord. For it had not come into Manoah's mind that he was the angel of the Lord.
13:16 And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Though you detain me, I will not eat of your bread: and if you will offer a burnt offering, you must offer it unto the LORD. For Manoah knew not that he was an angel of the LORD.

13:17 ¸¶³ë¾Æ°¡ ¶Ç ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ »çÀÚ¿¡°Ô ¸»¾¸Ç쵂 ´ç½ÅÀÇ À̸§ÀÌ ¹«¾ùÀÌ´ÏÀÌ±î ´ç½ÅÀÇ ¸»¾¸ÀÌ ÀÌ·ê ¶§¿¡ ¿ì¸®°¡ ´ç½ÅÀ» Á¸¼þÇϸ®ÀÌ´Ù
13:17 Then Manoah said to the angel of the Lord, What is your name, so that when your words come true we may give you honour?
13:17 And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What is your name, that when your sayings come to pass we may do you honour?

13:18 But the angel of the Lord said to him, Why are you questioning me about my name, seeing that it is a wonder?
13:18 And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why ask you thus after my name, seeing it is secret?

13:19 ÀÌ¿¡ ¸¶³ë¾Æ°¡ ¿°¼Ò »õ³¢ Çϳª¿Í ¼ÒÁ¦¹°À» ÃëÇÏ¿© ¹Ý¼® À§¿¡¼­ ¿©È£¿Í²² µå¸®¸Å »çÀÚ°¡ ÀÌÀûÀ» ÇàÇÑÁö¶ó ¸¶³ë¾Æ¿Í ±× ¾Æ³»°¡ º»Áï
13:19 So Manoah took the young goat with its meal offering, offering it on the rock to the Lord, who did strange things.
13:19 So Manoah took a kid with a food offering, and offered it upon a rock unto the LORD: and the angel did wondrously; and Manoah and his wife looked on.

13:20 ºÒ²ÉÀÌ ´Ü¿¡¼­ºÎÅÍ Çϴ÷Π¿Ã¶ó°¡´Â µ¿½Ã¿¡ ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ »çÀÚ°¡ ´Ü ºÒ²É °¡¿îµ¥·Î ÁÀ¾Æ ¿Ã¶ó°£Áö¶ó ¸¶³ë¾Æ¿Í ±× ¾Æ³»°¡ ÀÌ°ÍÀ» º¸°í ¾ó±¼À» ¶¥¿¡ ´ë°í ¾þµå¸®´Ï¶ó
13:20 And when the flame went up to heaven from the altar, the angel of the Lord went up in the flame of the altar, while Manoah and his wife were looking on; and they went down on their faces to the earth.
13:20 For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their faces to the ground.

13:21 ¡Û ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ »çÀÚ°¡ ¸¶³ë¾Æ¿Í ±× ¾Æ³»¿¡°Ô ´Ù½Ã ³ªÅ¸³ªÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ´Ï ¸¶³ë¾Æ°¡ ÀÌ¿¡ ±×°¡ ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ »çÀÚÀÎ ÁÙ ¾Ë°í
13:21 But the angel of the Lord was seen no more by Manoah and his wife. Then it was clear to Manoah that he was the angel of the Lord.
13:21 But the angel of the LORD did no more appear to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was an angel of the LORD.

13:22 ±× ¾Æ³»¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ¿ì¸®°¡ Çϳª´ÔÀ» º¸¾ÒÀ¸´Ï ¹Ýµå½Ã Á×À¸¸®·Î´Ù
13:22 And Manoah said to his wife, Death will certainly be our fate, for it is a god whom we have seen.
13:22 And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.

13:23 But his wife said to him, If the Lord was purposing our death, he would not have taken our burned offering and our meal offering, or have given us such orders about the child.
13:23 But his wife said unto him, If the LORD were pleased to kill us, he would not have received a burnt offering and a food offering at our hands, neither would he have showed us all these things, nor would as at this time have told us such things as these.

13:24 So the woman gave birth to a son, and gave him the name Samson; and he became a man and the blessing of the Lord was on him.
13:24 And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and the LORD blessed him.

13:25 And the spirit of the Lord first came on him in Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.
13:25 And the Spirit of the LORD began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.

14:1 Now Samson went down to Timnah, and saw a woman in Timnah, of the daughters of the Philistines;
14:1 And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines.

14:2 And when he came back he said to his father and mother, I have seen a woman in Timnah, of the daughters of the Philistines: get her now for me for my wife.
14:2 And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife.

14:3 Then his father and mother said to him, Is there no woman among the daughters of your relations or among all my people, that you have to go for your wife to the Philistines, who are without circumcision? But Samson said to his father, Get her for me, for she is pleasing to me.
14:3 Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there not a woman among the daughters of your brethren, or among all my people, that you go to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleases me well.

14:4 Now his father and mother had no knowledge that this was the purpose of the Lord, who had the destruction of the Philistines in mind. Now the Philistines at that time were ruling over Israel.
14:4 But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.

14:5 ¡Û »ï¼ÕÀÌ ±× ºÎ¸ð¿Í ÇÔ²² µõ³ª¿¡ ³»·Á°¡¼­ µõ³ªÀÇ Æ÷µµ¿ø¿¡ À̸¥Áï ¾î¸° »çÀÚ°¡ ±×¸¦ ¸Â¾Æ ¼Ò¸® Áö¸£´ÂÁö¶ó
14:5 Then Samson went down to Timnah (and his father and his mother,) and came to the vine-gardens of Timnah; and a young lion came rushing out at him.
14:5 Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him.

14:6 And the spirit of the Lord came on him with power, and, unarmed as he was, pulling the lion in two as one might do to a young goat, he put him to death; (but he said nothing to his father and mother of what he had done.)
14:6 And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.

14:7 So he went down and had talk with the woman; and she was pleasing to Samson.

14:8 Then after a time he went back to take her; and turning from the road to see the dead body of the lion, he saw a mass of bees in the body of the lion, and honey there.
14:8 And after a time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcass of the lion.

14:9 ¼ÕÀ¸·Î ±× ²ÜÀ» ÃëÇÏ¿© ÇàÇÏ¸ç ¸Ô°í ±× ºÎ¸ð¿¡°Ô À̸£·¯ ±×µé¿¡°Ô ±×°ÍÀ» µå·Á¼­ ¸Ô°Ô ÇÏ¿´À¸³ª ±× ²ÜÀ» »çÀÚÀÇ ¸ö¿¡¼­ ÃëÇÏ¿´´Ù°í´Â °íÇÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿´´õ¶ó
14:9 And he took the honey in his hand, and went on, tasting it on the way; and when he came to his father and mother he gave some to them; but did not say that he had taken the honey from the body of the lion.
14:9 And he took thereof in his hands, and went on eating, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat: but he told not them that he had taken the honey out of the carcass of the lion.

14:10 ¡Û »ï¼ÕÀÇ ¾Æºñ°¡ ¿©ÀÚ¿¡°Ô·Î ³»·Á°¡¸Å »ï¼ÕÀÌ °Å±â¼­ ÀÜÄ¡¸¦ ¹è¼³ÇÏ¿´À¸´Ï ¼Ò³âÀº ÀÌ·¸°Ô ÇàÇϴ dz¼ÓÀÌ ÀÖÀ½ÀÌ´õ¶ó
14:10 Then Samson went down to the woman, and made a feast there, as was the way among young men.
14:10 So his father went down unto the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do.

14:11 ¹«¸®°¡ »ï¼ÕÀ» º¸°í »ï½Ê ¸íÀ» µ¥·Á´Ù°¡ µ¿¹«¸¦ »ï¾Æ ±×¿Í ÇÔ²² ÇÏ°Ô ÇÑÁö¶ó
14:11 And he took thirty friends, and they were with him.
14:11 And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him.

14:12 »ï¼ÕÀÌ ±×µé¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ÀÌÁ¦ ³»°¡ ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ¼ö¼ö²²³¢¸¦ Çϸ®´Ï ÀÜÄ¡Çϴ ĥ ÀÏ µ¿¾È¿¡ ³ÊÈñ°¡ ´ÉÈ÷ ±×°ÍÀ» Ç®¾î¼­ ³»°Ô °íÇÏ¸é ³»°¡ º£¿Ê »ï½Ê ¹ú°ú °Ñ¿Ê »ï½Ê ¹úÀ» ³ÊÈñ¿¡°Ô ÁÖ¸®¶ó
14:12 And Samson said, Now I have a hard question for you: if you are able to give me the answer before the seven days of the feast are over, I will give you thirty linen robes and thirty changes of clothing;
14:12 And Samson said unto them, I will now put forth a riddle unto you: if all of you can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments:

14:13 ±×·¯³ª ±×°ÍÀ» ´ÉÈ÷ ³»°Ô °íÇÏÁö ¸øÇÏ¸é ³ÊÈñ°¡ ³»°Ô º£¿Ê »ï½Ê ¹ú°ú °Ñ¿Ê »ï½Ê ¹úÀ» ÁÙÁö´Ï¶ó ±×µéÀÌ À̸£µÇ ³Ê´Â ¼ö¼ö²²³¢¸¦ ÇÏ¿© ¿ì¸®·Î µè°Ô Ç϶ó
14:13 But if you are not able to give me the answer, then you will have to give me thirty linen robes and thirty changes of clothing. And they said to him, Put your hard question and let us see what it is.
14:13 But if all of you cannot declare it me, then shall all of you give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth your riddle, that we may hear it.

14:14 »ï¼ÕÀÌ ±×µé¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ¸Ô´Â ÀÚ¿¡°Ô¼­ ¸Ô´Â °ÍÀÌ ³ª¿À°í °­ÇÑ ÀÚ¿¡°Ô¼­ ´Ü °ÍÀÌ ³ª¿Ô´À´Ï¶ó ±×µéÀÌ »ï ÀÏÀÌ µÇµµ·Ï ¼ö¼ö²²³¢¸¦ Ç®Áö ¸øÇÏ¿´´õ¶ó
14:14 And he said, Out of the taker of food came food, and out of the strong came the sweet. And at the end of three days they were still not able to give the answer.
14:14 And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth food, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.

14:15 ¡Û Á¦ Ä¥ ÀÏ¿¡ À̸£·¯ ±×µéÀÌ »ï¼ÕÀÇ ¾Æ³»¿¡°Ô ÀÌ·ÎµÇ ³Ê´Â ³× ³²ÆíÀ» ²Ò¾î ±× ¼ö¼ö²²³¢¸¦ ¿ì¸®¿¡°Ô ¾Ë¸®°Ô Ç϶ó ±×·¸Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¸é ³Ê¿Í ³× ¾ÆºñÀÇ ÁýÀ» ºÒ»ç¸£¸®¶ó ³ÊÈñ°¡ ¿ì¸®ÀÇ ¼ÒÀ¯¸¦ ÃëÇÏ°íÀÚ ÇÏ¿© ¿ì¸®¸¦ ûÇÏ¿´´À³Ä ±×·¸Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇϳÄ
14:15 So on the fourth day they said to Samson's wife, Get from your husband the answer to his question by some trick or other, or we will have you and your father's house burned with fire; did you get us here to take all we have?
14:15 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson's wife, Entice your husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn you and your father's house with fire: have all of you called us to take that we have? is it not so?

14:16 »ï¼ÕÀÇ ¾Æ³»°¡ ±×ÀÇ ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ¿ï¸ç °¡·ÎµÇ ´ç½ÅÀÌ ³ª¸¦ ¹Ì¿öÇÒ »ÓÀÌ¿ä »ç¶ûÄ¡ ¾Æ´ÏÇϴµµ´Ù ¿ì¸® ¹ÎÁ·¿¡°Ô ¼ö¼ö²²³¢¸¦ ¸»ÇÏ°í ±× ¶æÀ» ³»°Ô Ç®¾î À̸£Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇϵµ´Ù »ï¼ÕÀÌ ±×¿¡°Ô ´ë´äÇ쵂 º¸¶ó ³»°¡ ±×°ÍÀ» ³ªÀÇ ºÎ¸ð¿¡°Ôµµ Ç®¾î °íÇÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿´°Åµç ¾îÂî ±×´ë¿¡°Ô Ç®¾î À̸£¸®¿ä ÇÏ¿´À¸³ª
14:16 Then Samson's wife, weeping over him, said, Truly you have no love for me but only hate; you have put a hard question to the children of my people and have not given me the answer. And he said to her, See, I have not given the answer even to my father or my mother; am I to give it to you?
14:16 And Samson's wife wept before him, and said, You do but hate me, and love me not: you have put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and have not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it you?

14:17 Ä¥ ÀÏ ÀÜÄ¡ÇÒ µ¿¾È¿¡ ±× ¾Æ³»°¡ ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ¿ï¸ç °­¹ÚÇÔÀ» ÀÎÇÏ¿© Á¦ Ä¥ ÀÏ¿¡´Â ±×°¡ ±× ¾Æ³»¿¡°Ô ¼ö¼ö²²³¢¸¦ Ç®¾î À̸£¸Å ±× ¾Æ³»°¡ ±×°ÍÀ» ±× ¹ÎÁ·¿¡°Ô °íÇÏ¿´´õ¶ó
14:17 And all the seven days of the feast she went on weeping over him; and on the seventh day he gave her the answer, because she gave him no peace; and she sent word of it to the children of her people.
14:17 And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she lay sore upon him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people.

14:18 Á¦ Ä¥ ÀÏ ÇØ Áö±â Àü¿¡ ¼ºÀ¾ »ç¶÷µéÀÌ »ï¼Õ¿¡°Ô À̸£µÇ ¹«¾ùÀÌ ²Üº¸´Ù ´Þ°ÚÀ¸¸ç ¹«¾ùÀÌ »çÀÚº¸´Ù °­ÇÏ°Ú´À³Ä ÇÑÁö¶ó »ï¼ÕÀÌ ±×µé¿¡°Ô ´ë´äÇ쵂 ³ÊÈñ°¡ ³» ¾Ï¼Û¾ÆÁö·Î ¹ç °¥Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ¿´´õ¸é ³ªÀÇ ¼ö¼ö²²³¢¸¦ ´ÉÈ÷ Ç®Áö ¸øÇÏ¿´À¸¸®¶ó Çϴ϶ó
14:18 Then on the seventh day, before he went into the bride's room, the men of the town said to him, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said to them, If you had not been ploughing with my cow you would not have got the answer to my question.
14:18 And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion? and he said unto them, If all of you had not plowed with my heifer, all of you had not found out my riddle.

14:19 ¡Û ¿©È£¿ÍÀÇ ½ÅÀÌ »ï¼Õ¿¡°Ô Å©°Ô ÀÓÇϽøŠ»ï¼ÕÀÌ ¾Æ½º±Û·Ð¿¡ ³»·Á°¡¼­ ±× °÷ »ç¶÷ »ï½Ê ¸íÀ» ÃÄ Á×ÀÌ°í ³ë·«ÇÏ¿© ¼ö¼ö²²³¢ Ǭ Àڵ鿡°Ô ¿ÊÀ» ÁÖ°í ½ÉÈ÷ ³ëÇÏ¿© ¾Æºñ ÁýÀ¸·Î ¿Ã¶ó°¬°í
14:19 And the spirit of the Lord came rushing on him, and he went down to Ashkelon and, attacking thirty men there, took their clothing from them, and gave it to the men who had given the answer to his hard question. Then, full of wrath, he went back to his father's house.
14:19 And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father's house.

14:20 But Samson's wife was given to the friend who had been his best man.
14:20 But Samson's wife was given to his companion, whom he had used as his friend.
