1:1 Dies ist der Anfang des Evangeliums von Jesus Christus, dem Sohn Gottes,
1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
1:2 wie geschrieben steht in den Propheten: "Siehe, ich sende meinen Engel vor dir her, der da bereite deinen Weg vor dir."
1:2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, which shall prepare your way before you.
1:3 "Es ist eine Stimme eines Predigers in der Wüste: Bereitet den Weg des HERRN, macht seine Steige richtig!"
1:3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare all of you the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
1:4 Johannes, der war in der Wüste, taufte und predigte von der Taufe der Buße zur Vergebung der Sünden.
1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
1:5 Und es ging zu ihm hinaus das ganze jüdische Land und die von Jerusalem und ließen sich alle von ihm taufen im Jordan und bekannten ihre Sünden.
1:5 And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
1:6 Johannes aber war bekleidet mit Kamelhaaren und mit einem ledernen Gürtel um seine Lenden, und aß Heuschrecken und wilden Honig;
1:6 And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;
1:7 und er predigte und sprach: Es kommt einer nach mir, der ist stärker denn ich, dem ich nicht genugsam bin, daß ich mich vor ihm bücke und die Riemen seiner Schuhe auflöse.
1:7 And preached, saying, There comes one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.
1:8 Ich taufe euch mit Wasser; aber er wird euch mit dem Heiligen Geist taufen.
1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit. (o. pneuma)
1:9 Und es begab sich zu der Zeit, daß Jesus aus Galiläa von Nazareth kam und ließ sich taufen von Johannes im Jordan.
1:9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
1:10 Und alsbald stieg er aus dem Wasser und sah, daß sich der Himmel auftat, und den Geist gleich wie eine Taube herabkommen auf ihn.
1:10 And immediately coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit (o. pneuma) like a dove descending upon him:
1:11 Und da geschah eine Stimme vom Himmel: Du bist mein lieber Sohn, an dem ich Wohlgefallen habe.
1:11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
1:12 Und alsbald trieb ihn der Geist in die Wüste,
1:12 And immediately the spirit (o. pneuma) drives him into the wilderness.
1:13 und er war allda in der Wüste Tage und ward versucht von dem Satan und war bei den Tieren, und die Engel dienten ihm.
1:13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.
1:14 Nachdem aber Johannes überantwortet war, kam Jesus nach Galiläa und predigte das Evangelium vom Reich Gottes
1:14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
1:15 und sprach: Die Zeit ist erfüllet, und das Reich Gottes ist herbeigekommen. Tut Buße und glaubt an das Evangelium!
1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent all of you, and believe the gospel.
1:16 Da er aber am Galiläischen Meer ging, sah er Simon und Andreas, seinen Bruder, daß sie ihre Netze ins Meer warfen; denn sie waren Fischer.
1:16 Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
1:17 Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Folget mir nach; ich will euch zu Menschenfischern machen!
1:17 And Jesus said unto them, Come all of you after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
1:18 Alsobald verließen sie ihre Netze und folgten ihm nach.
1:18 And immediately they forsook their nets, and followed him.
1:19 Und da er von da ein wenig weiterging, sah er Jakobus, den Sohn des Zebedäus, und Johannes, seinen Bruder, daß sie die Netze im Schiff flickten; und alsbald rief er sie.
1:19 And when he had gone a little farther thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.
1:20 Und sie ließen ihren Vater Zebedäus im Schiff mit den Tagelöhnern und folgten ihm nach.
1:20 And immediately he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.
1:21 Und sie gingen gen Kapernaum; und alsbald am Sabbat ging er in die Schule und lehrte.
1:21 And they went into Capernaum; and immediately on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.
1:22 Und sie entsetzten sich über seine Lehre; denn er lehrte gewaltig und nicht wie die Schriftgelehrten.
1:22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
1:23 Und es war in ihrer Schule ein Mensch, besessen von einem unsauberen Geist, der schrie
1:23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; (o. pneuma) and he cried out,
1:24 und sprach: Halt, was haben wir mit dir zu schaffen, Jesus von Nazareth? Du bist gekommen, uns zu verderben. Ich weiß wer du bist: der Heilige Gottes.
1:24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with you, you Jesus of Nazareth? are you come to destroy us? I know you who you are, the Holy One of God.
1:25 Und Jesus bedrohte ihn und sprach: Verstumme und fahre aus von ihm!
1:25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold your peace, and come out of him.
1:26 Und der unsaubere Geist riß ihn und schrie laut und fuhr aus von ihm.
1:26 And when the unclean spirit (o. pneuma) had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.
1:27 Und sie entsetzten sich alle, also daß sie untereinander sich befragten und sprachen: Was ist das? Was ist das für eine neue Lehre? Er gebietet mit Gewalt den unsauberen Geistern, und sie gehorchen ihm.
1:27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commands he even the unclean spirits, (o. pneuma) and they do obey him.
1:28 Und sein Gerücht erscholl alsbald umher in das galiläische Land.
1:28 And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.
1:29 Und sie gingen alsbald aus der Schule und kamen in das Haus des Simon und Andreas mit Jakobus und Johannes.
1:29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
1:30 Und die Schwiegermutter Simons lag und hatte das Fieber; und alsbald sagten sie ihm von ihr.
1:30 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and soon they tell him of her.
1:31 Und er trat zu ihr und richtete sie auf und hielt sie bei der Hand; und das Fieber verließ sie, und sie diente ihnen.
1:31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.
1:32 Am Abend aber, da die Sonne untergegangen war, brachten sie zu ihm allerlei Kranke und Besessene.
1:32 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.
1:33 Und die ganze Stadt versammelte sich vor der Tür.
1:33 And all the city was gathered together at the door.
1:34 Und er half vielen Kranken, die mit mancherlei Seuchen beladen waren, und trieb viele Teufel aus und ließ die Teufel nicht reden, denn sie kannten ihn.
1:34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.
1:35 Und des Morgens vor Tage stand er auf und ging hinaus. Und Jesus ging in eine wüste Stätte und betete daselbst.
1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
1:36 Und Petrus mit denen, die bei ihm waren, eilten ihm nach.
1:36 And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.
1:37 Und da sie ihn fanden, sprachen sie zu ihm: Jedermann sucht dich.
1:37 And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for you.
1:38 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Laßt uns in die nächsten Städte gehen, daß ich daselbst auch predige; denn dazu bin ich gekommen.
1:38 And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.
1:39 Und er predigte in ihren Schulen in ganz Galiläa und trieb die Teufel aus.
1:39 And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.
1:40 Und es kam zu ihm ein Aussätziger, der bat ihn, kniete vor ihm und sprach: Willst du, so kannst du mich wohl reinigen.
1:40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If you will, you can make me clean.
1:41 Und es jammerte Jesum, und er reckte die Hand aus, rührte ihn an und sprach: Ich will's tun; sei gereinigt!
1:41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and says unto him, I will; be you clean.
1:42 Und als er so sprach, ging der Aussatz alsbald von ihm, und er ward rein.
1:42 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.
1:43 Und Jesus bedrohte ihn und trieb ihn alsbald von sich
1:43 And he strictly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;
1:44 und sprach zu ihm: Siehe zu, daß du niemand davon sagest; sondern gehe hin und zeige dich dem Priester und opfere für deine Reinigung, was Mose geboten hat, zum Zeugnis über sie.
1:44 And says unto him, See you say nothing to any man: but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
1:45 Er aber, da er hinauskam, hob er an und sagte viel davon und machte die Geschichte ruchbar, also daß er hinfort nicht mehr konnte öffentlich in die Stadt gehen; sondern er war draußen in den wüsten Örtern, und sie kamen zu ihm von allen Enden.
1:45 But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, (o. logos) insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.

2:1 Und über etliche Tage ging er wiederum gen Kapernaum; und es ward ruchbar, daß er im Hause war.
2:1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
2:2 Und alsbald versammelten sich viele, also daß sie nicht Raum hatten auch draußen vor der Tür; und er sagte ihnen das Wort.
2:2 And immediately many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word (o. logos) unto them.
2:3 Und es kamen etliche zu ihm, die brachten einen Gichtbrüchigen, von vieren getragen.
2:3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
2:4 Und da sie nicht konnten zu ihm kommen vor dem Volk, deckten sie das Dach auf, da er war, und gruben's auf und ließen das Bett hernieder, darin der Gichtbrüchige lag.
2:4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
2:5 Da aber Jesus ihren Glauben sah, sprach er zu dem Gichtbrüchigen: Mein Sohn, deine Sünden sind dir vergeben.
2:5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, your sins be forgiven you.
2:6 Es waren aber etliche Schriftgelehrte, die saßen allda und gedachten in ihrem Herzen:
2:6 But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
2:7 Wie redet dieser solche Gotteslästerung? Wer kann Sünden vergeben denn allein Gott?
2:7 Why does this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
2:8 Und Jesus erkannte alsbald in seinem Geist, daß sie also gedachten bei sich selbst, und sprach zu Ihnen: Was denkt ihr solches in eurem Herzen?
2:8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit (o. pneuma) that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason all of you these things in your hearts?
2:9 Welches ist leichter: zu dem Gichtbrüchigen zu sagen: Dir sind deine Sünden vergeben, oder: Stehe auf, nimm dein Bett und wandle?
2:9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Your sins be forgiven you; or to say, Arise, and take up your bed, and walk?
2:10 Auf das ihr aber wisset, daß des Menschen Sohn Macht hat, zu vergeben die Sünden auf Erden, (sprach er zu dem Gichtbrüchigen):
2:10 But that all of you may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, (he says to the sick of the palsy,)
2:11 Ich sage dir, stehe auf, nimm dein Bett und gehe heim!
2:11 I say unto you, Arise, and take up your bed, and go your way into yours house.
2:12 Und alsbald stand er auf, nahm sein Bett und ging hinaus vor allen, also daß sie sich entsetzten und priesen Gott und sprachen: Wir haben solches noch nie gesehen.
2:12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
2:13 Und er ging wiederum hinaus an das Meer; und alles Volk kam zu ihm, und er lehrte sie.
2:13 And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.
2:14 Und da Jesus vorüberging, sah er Levi, den Sohn des Alphäus, am Zoll sitzen und sprach zu ihm: Folge mir nach! Und er stand auf und folgte ihm nach.
2:14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.
2:15 Und es begab sich, da er zu Tische saß in seinem Hause, setzten sich viele Zöllner und Sünder zu Tische mit Jesu und seinen Jüngern; denn ihrer waren viele, die ihm nachfolgten.
2:15 And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at food in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.
2:16 Und die Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, da sie sahen, daß er mit den Zöllnern und Sündern aß, sprachen sie zu seinen Jüngern: Warum ißt und trinkt er mit den Zöllnern und Sündern?
2:16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eats and drinks with publicans and sinners?
2:17 Da das Jesus hörte, sprach er zu ihnen: Die Starken bedürfen keines Arztes, sondern die Kranken. Ich bin gekommen, zu rufen die Sünder zur Buße, und nicht die Gerechten.
2:17 When Jesus heard it, he says unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
2:18 Und die Jünger des Johannes und der Pharisäer fasteten viel; und es kamen etliche, die sprachen zu ihm: Warum fasten die Jünger des Johannes und der Pharisäer, und deine Jünger fasten nicht?
2:18 And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples fast not?
2:19 Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Wie können die Hochzeitsleute fasten, dieweil der Bräutigam bei ihnen ist? Solange der Bräutigam bei ihnen ist, können sie nicht fasten.
2:19 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bride-chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.
2:20 Es wird aber die Zeit kommen, daß der Bräutigam von ihnen genommen wird; dann werden sie fasten.
2:20 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.
2:21 Niemand flickt einen Lappen von neuem Tuch an ein altes Kleid; denn der neue Lappen reißt doch vom alten, und der Riß wird ärger.
2:21 No man also sews a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up takes away from the old, and the rent is made worse.
2:22 Und niemand faßt Most in alte Schläuche; sonst zerreißt der Most die Schläuche, und der Wein wird verschüttet, und die Schläuche kommen um. Sondern man soll Most in neue Schläuche fassen.
2:22 And no man puts new wine into old bottles: else the new wine does burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be ruined: but new wine must be put into new bottles.
2:23 Und es begab sich, daß er wandelte am Sabbat durch die Saat; und seine Jünger fingen an, indem sie gingen, Ähren auszuraufen.
2:23 And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.
2:24 Und die Pharisäer sprachen zu ihm: Siehe zu, was tun deine Jünger am Sabbat, das nicht recht ist?
2:24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?
2:25 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Habt ihr nie gelesen was David tat, da es ihm not war und ihn hungerte samt denen, die bei ihm waren?
2:25 And he said unto them, Have all of you never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungered, he, and they that were with him?
2:26 Wie er ging in das Haus Gottes zur Zeit Abjathars, des Hohenpriesters, und aß die Schaubrote, die niemand durfte essen, denn die Priester, und er gab sie auch denen, die bei ihm waren?
2:26 How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the showbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?
2:27 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Der Sabbat ist um des Menschen willen gemacht, und nicht der Mensch um des Sabbat willen.
2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
2:28 So ist des Menschen Sohn ein HERR auch des Sabbats.
2:28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

3:1 Und er ging abermals in die Schule. Und es war da ein Mensch, der hatte eine verdorrte Hand.
3:1 And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand.
3:2 Und sie lauerten darauf, ob er auch am Sabbat ihn heilen würde, auf daß sie eine Sache wider ihn hätten.
3:2 And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him.
3:3 Und er sprach zu dem Menschen mit der verdorrten Hand: Tritt hervor!
3:3 And he says unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.
3:4 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Soll man am Sabbat Gutes tun oder Böses tun, das Leben erhalten oder töten? Sie aber schwiegen still.
3:4 And he says unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.
3:5 Und er sah sie umher an mit Zorn und ward betrübt über ihr verstocktes Herz und sprach zu dem Menschen: Strecke deine Hand aus! Und er streckte sie aus; und die Hand ward ihm gesund wie die andere.
3:5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he says unto the man, Stretch forth yours hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.
3:6 Und die Pharisäer gingen hinaus und hielten alsbald einen Rat mit des Herodes Dienern über ihn, wie sie ihn umbrächten.
3:6 And the Pharisees went forth, and immediately took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
3:7 Aber Jesus entwich mit seinen Jüngern an das Meer; und viel Volks folgte ihm nach aus Galiläa und aus Judäa
3:7 But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea,
3:8 und von Jerusalem und aus Idumäa und von jenseits des Jordans, und die um Tyrus und Sidon wohnen, eine große Menge, die seine Taten hörten, und kamen zu ihm.
3:8 And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.
3:9 Und er sprach zu seinen Jüngern, daß sie ihm ein Schifflein bereit hielten um des Volkes willen, daß sie ihn nicht drängten.
3:9 And he spoke to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should crowd upon him.
3:10 Denn er heilte ihrer viele, also daß ihn überfielen alle, die geplagt waren, auf daß sie ihn anrührten.
3:10 For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him in order to touch him, as many as had plagues.
3:11 Und wenn ihn die unsauberen Geister sahen, fielen sie vor ihm nieder, schrieen und sprachen: Du bist Gottes Sohn!
3:11 And unclean spirits, (o. pneuma) when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, You are the Son of God.
3:12 Und er bedrohte sie hart, daß sie ihn nicht offenbar machten.
3:12 And he strictly charged them that they should not make him known.
3:13 Und er ging auf einen Berg und rief zu sich, welche er wollte, und die gingen hin zu ihm.
3:13 And he goes up into a mountain, and calls unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.
3:14 Und er ordnete die Zwölf, daß sie bei ihm sein sollten und daß er sie aussendete, zu predigen,
3:14 And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,
3:15 und daß sie Macht hätten, die Seuchen zu heilen und die Teufel auszutreiben.
3:15 And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:
3:16 Und gab Simon den Namen Petrus;
3:16 And Simon he surnamed Peter;
3:17 und Jakobus, den Sohn des Zebedäus, und Johannes, den Bruder des Jakobus, und gab ihnen den Namen Bnehargem, das ist gesagt: Donnerskinder;
3:17 And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:
3:18 und Andreas und Philippus und Bartholomäus und Matthäus und Thomas und Jakobus, des Alphäus Sohn, und Thaddäus und Simon von Kana
3:18 And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite,
3:19 und Judas Ischariot, der ihn verriet.
3:19 And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an house.
3:20 Und sie kamen nach Hause, und da kam abermals das Volk zusammen, also daß sie nicht Raum hatten, zu essen.
3:20 And the multitude comes together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.
3:21 Und da es die Seinen hörten, gingen sie aus und wollten ihn halten; denn sie sprachen: Er ist von Sinnen.
3:21 And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.
3:22 Die Schriftgelehrten aber, die von Jerusalem herabgekommen waren, sprachen: Er hat den Beelzebub, und durch den obersten Teufel treibt er die Teufel aus.
3:22 And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He has Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casts he out devils.
3:23 Und er rief sie zusammen und sprach zu ihnen in Gleichnissen: Wie kann ein Satan den anderen austreiben?
3:23 And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?
3:24 Wenn ein Reich mit sich selbst uneins wird, kann es nicht bestehen.
3:24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
3:25 Und wenn ein Haus mit sich selbst uneins wird, kann es nicht bestehen.
3:25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
3:26 Setzt sich nun der Satan wider sich selbst und ist mit sich selbst uneins, so kann er nicht bestehen, sondern es ist aus mit ihm.
3:26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but has an end.
3:27 Es kann niemand einem Starken in sein Haus fallen und seinen Hausrat rauben, es sei denn, daß er zuvor den Starken binde und alsdann sein Haus beraube.
3:27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
3:28 Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Alle Sünden werden vergeben den Menschenkindern, auch die Gotteslästerungen, womit sie Gott lästern;
3:28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith whatsoever they shall blaspheme:
3:29 wer aber den Heiligen Geist lästert, der hat keine Vergebung ewiglich, sondern ist schuldig des ewigen Gerichts.
3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit (o. pneuma) has never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.
3:30 Denn sie sagten: Er hat einen unsauberen Geist.
3:30 Because they said, He has an unclean spirit. (o. pneuma)
3:31 Und es kam seine Mutter und seine Brüder und standen draußen, schickten zu ihm und ließen ihn rufen.
3:31 There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.
3:32 Und das Volk saß um ihn. Und sie sprachen zu ihm: Siehe, deine Mutter und deine Brüder draußen fragen nach dir.
3:32 And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, your mother and your brethren without seek for you.
3:33 Und er antwortete ihnen und sprach: Wer ist meine Mutter und meine Brüder?
3:33 And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?
3:34 Und er sah rings um sich auf die Jünger, die im Kreise saßen, und sprach: Siehe, das ist meine Mutter und meine Brüder!
3:34 And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
3:35 Denn wer Gottes Willen tut, der ist mein Bruder und meine Schwester und meine Mutter.
3:35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

4:1 Und er fing abermals an, zu lehren am Meer. Und es versammelte sich viel Volks zu ihm, also daß er mußte in ein Schiff treten und auf dem Wasser sitzen; und alles Volk stand auf dem Lande am Meer.
4:1 And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.
4:2 Und er predigte ihnen lange durch Gleichnisse; und in seiner Predigt sprach er zu ihnen:
4:2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,
4:3 Höret zu! Siehe, es ging ein Sämann aus, zu säen.
4:3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:
4:4 Und es begab sich, indem er säte, fiel etliches an den Weg; da kamen die Vögel unter dem Himmel und fraßen's auf.
4:4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.
4:5 Etliches fiel in das Steinige, wo es nicht viel Erde hatte; und ging bald auf, darum daß es nicht tiefe Erde hatte.
4:5 And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:
4:6 Da nun die Sonne aufging, verwelkte es, und dieweil es nicht Wurzel hatte verdorrte es.
4:6 But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.
4:7 Und etliches fiel unter die Dornen; und die Dornen wuchsen empor und erstickten's, und es brachte keine Frucht.
4:7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.
4:8 Und etliches fiel auf ein gutes Land und brachte Frucht, die da zunahm und wuchs; etliches trug dreißigfältig und etliches sechzigfältig und etliches hundertfältig.
4:8 And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.
4:9 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Wer Ohren hat, zu hören, der höre!
4:9 And he said unto them, He that has ears to hear, let him hear.
4:10 Und da er allein war, fragten ihn um dies Gleichnis, die um ihn waren, mitsamt den Zwölfen.
4:10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.
4:11 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Euch ist's gegeben, das Geheimnis des Reiches Gottes zu wissen; denen aber draußen widerfährt es alles nur durch Gleichnisse,
4:11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
4:12 auf daß sie es mit sehenden Augen sehen, und doch nicht erkennen, und mit hörenden Ohren hören, und doch nicht verstehen, auf daß sie sich nicht dermaleinst bekehren und ihre Sünden ihnen vergeben werden.
4:12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
4:13 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Verstehet ihr dies Gleichnis nicht, wie wollt ihr denn die andern alle verstehen?
4:13 And he said unto them, Know all of you not this parable? and how then will all of you know all parables?
4:14 Der Sämann sät das Wort.
4:14 The sower sows the word. (o. logos)
4:15 Diese sind's aber, die an dem Wege sind: Wo das Wort gesät wird und sie es gehört haben, so kommt alsbald der Satan und nimmt weg das Wort, das in ihr Herz gesät war.
4:15 And these are they by the way side, where the word (o. logos) is sown; but when they have heard, Satan comes immediately, and takes away the word (o. logos) that was sown in their hearts.
4:16 Also auch die sind's, bei welchen aufs Steinige gesät ist: wenn sie das Wort gehört haben, nehmen sie es alsbald mit Freuden auf,
4:16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, (o. logos) immediately receive it with gladness;
4:17 und haben keine Wurzel in sich, sondern sind wetterwendisch; wenn sich Trübsal oder Verfolgung um des Wortes willen erhebt, so ärgern sie sich alsbald.
4:17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution arises for the word's sake, (o. logos) immediately they are offended.
4:18 Und diese sind's, bei welchen unter die Dornen gesät ist: die das Wort hören,
4:18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, (o. logos)
4:19 und die Sorgen dieser Welt und der betrügerische Reichtum und viele andere Lüste gehen hinein und ersticken das Wort, und es bleibt ohne Frucht. {~}
4:19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, (o. logos) and it becomes unfruitful.
4:20 Und diese sind's, bei welchen auf ein gutes Land gesät ist: die das Wort hören und nehmen's an und bringen Frucht, etliche dreißigfältig und etliche sechzigfältig und etliche hundertfältig.
4:20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, (o. logos) and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
4:21 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Zündet man auch ein Licht an, daß man es unter einen Scheffel oder unter einen Tisch setze? Mitnichten, sondern daß man's auf einen Leuchter setze.
4:21 And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?
4:22 Denn es ist nichts verborgen, das es nicht offenbar werde, und ist nichts Heimliches, das nicht hervorkomme.
4:22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.
4:23 Wer Ohren hat, zu hören, der höre!
4:23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
4:24 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Sehet zu, was ihr höret! Mit welcherlei Maß ihr messet, wird man euch wieder messen, und man wird noch zugeben euch, die ihr dies hört.
4:24 And he said unto them, Take heed what all of you hear: with what measure all of you mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
4:25 Denn wer da hat, dem wird gegeben; und wer nicht hat, von dem wird man nehmen, auch was er hat.
4:25 For he that has, to him shall be given: and he that has not, from him shall be taken even that which he has.
4:26 Und er sprach: Das Reich Gottes hat sich also, als wenn ein Mensch Samen aufs Land wirft
4:26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
4:27 und schläft und steht auf Nacht und Tag; und der Same geht auf und wächst, daß er's nicht weiß.
4:27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knows not how.
4:28 Denn die Erde bringt von selbst zum ersten das Gras, darnach die Ähren, darnach den vollen Weizen in den Ähren.
4:28 For the earth brings forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
4:29 Wenn sie aber die Frucht gebracht hat, so schickt er bald die Sichel hin; denn die Ernte ist da.
4:29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.
4:30 Und er sprach: Wem wollen wir das Reich Gottes vergleichen, und durch welch Gleichnis wollen wir es vorbilden?
4:30 And he said, Unto which shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
4:31 Gleichwie ein Senfkorn, wenn das gesät wird aufs Land, so ist's das kleinste unter allen Samen auf Erden; {~}
4:31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:
4:32 und wenn es gesät ist, so nimmt es zu und wird größer denn alle Kohlkräuter und gewinnt große Zweige, also daß die Vögel unter dem Himmel unter seinem Schatten wohnen können.
4:32 But when it is sown, it grows up, and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.
4:33 Und durch viele solche Gleichnisse sagte er ihnen das Wort, nach dem sie es hören konnten.
4:33 And with many such parables spoke he the word (o. logos) unto them, as they were able to hear it.
4:34 Und ohne Gleichnis redete er nichts zu ihnen; aber insonderheit legte er's seinen Jüngern alles aus.
4:34 But without a parable spoke he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.
4:35 Und an demselben Tage des Abends sprach er zu ihnen: Laßt uns hinüberfahren.
4:35 And the same day, when the even was come, he says unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
4:36 Und sie ließen das Volk gehen und nahmen ihn, wie er im Schiff war; und es waren mehr Schiffe bei ihm.
4:36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
4:37 Und es erhob sich ein großer Windwirbel und warf Wellen in das Schiff, also daß das Schiff voll ward.
4:37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
4:38 Und er war hinten auf dem Schiff und schlief auf einem Kissen. Und sie weckten ihn auf und sprachen zu ihm: Meister, fragst du nichts darnach, daß wir verderben?
4:38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, care you not that we perish?
4:39 Und er stand auf und bedrohte den Wind und sprach zu dem Meer: Schweig und verstumme! Und der Wind legte sich, und es ward eine große Stille.
4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
4:40 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Wie seid ihr so furchtsam? Wie, daß ihr keinen Glauben habt?
4:40 And he said unto them, Why are all of you so fearful? how is it that all of you have no faith?
4:41 Und sie fürchteten sich sehr und sprachen untereinander: Wer ist der? denn Wind und Meer sind ihm gehorsam.
4:41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

5:1 Und sie kamen jenseits des Meers in die Gegend der Gadarener.
5:1 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.
5:2 Und als er aus dem Schiff trat, lief ihm alsbald entgegen aus den Gräbern ein besessener Mensch mit einem unsaubern Geist,
5:2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, (o. pneuma)
5:3 der seine Wohnung in den Gräbern hatte; und niemand konnte ihn binden, auch nicht mit Ketten.
5:3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
5:4 Denn er war oft mit Fesseln und Ketten gebunden gewesen, und hatte die Ketten abgerissen und die Fesseln zerrieben; und niemand konnte ihn zähmen.
5:4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
5:5 Und er war allezeit, Tag und Nacht, auf den Bergen und in den Gräbern, schrie und schlug sich mit Steinen.
5:5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
5:6 Da er aber Jesum sah von ferne, lief er zu und fiel vor ihm nieder, schrie laut und sprach:
5:6 But when he saw Jesus far off, he ran and worshipped him,
5:7 Was habe ich mit dir zu tun, o Jesu, du Sohn Gottes, des Allerhöchsten? Ich beschwöre dich bei Gott, daß du mich nicht quälest!
5:7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the most high God? I adjure you by God, that you torment me not.
5:8 Denn er sprach zu ihm: Fahre aus, du unsauberer Geist, von dem Menschen!
5:8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, you unclean spirit. (o. pneuma)
5:9 Und er fragte ihn: Wie heißt du? Und er antwortete und sprach: Legion heiße ich; denn wir sind unser viele.
5:9 And he asked him, What is your name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
5:10 Und er bat ihn sehr, daß er sie nicht aus der Gegend triebe.
5:10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
5:11 Und es war daselbst an den Bergen eine große Herde Säue auf der Weide.
5:11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
5:12 Und die Teufel baten ihn alle und sprachen: Laß uns in die Säue fahren! {~} {~} {~}
5:12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
5:13 Und alsbald erlaubte es ihnen Jesus. Da fuhren die unsauberen Geister aus und fuhren in die Säue; und die Herde stürzte sich von dem Abhang ins Meer (ihrer waren aber bei zweitausend) und ersoffen im Meer.
5:13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits (o. pneuma) went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
5:14 Und die Sauhirten flohen und verkündigten das in der Stadt und auf dem Lande. Und sie gingen hinaus, zu sehen, was da geschehen war,
5:14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
5:15 und kamen zu Jesu und sahen den, der von den Teufeln besessen war, daß er saß und war bekleidet und vernünftig, und fürchteten sich. {~} {~}
5:15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
5:16 Und die es gesehen hatten, sagten ihnen, was dem Besessenen widerfahren war, und von den Säuen.
5:16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
5:17 Und sie fingen an und baten ihn, daß er aus ihrer Gegend zöge.
5:17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
5:18 Und da er in das Schiff trat, bat ihn der Besessene, daß er möchte bei ihm sein.
5:18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
5:19 Aber Jesus ließ es nicht zu, sondern sprach zu ihm: Gehe hin in dein Haus und zu den Deinen und verkündige ihnen, wie große Wohltat dir der HERR getan und sich deiner erbarmt hat.
5:19 Nevertheless Jesus suffered him not, but says unto him, Go home to your friends, and tell them how great things the Lord has done for you, and has had compassion on you.
5:20 Und er ging hin und fing an, auszurufen in den zehn Städten, wie große Wohltat ihm Jesus getan hatte; und jedermann verwunderte sich.
5:20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
5:21 Und da Jesus wieder herüberfuhr im Schiff, versammelte sich viel Volks zu ihm, und er war an dem Meer.
5:21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.
5:22 Und siehe, da kam der Obersten einer von der Schule, mit Namen Jairus; und da er ihn sah, fiel er ihm zu Füßen
5:22 And, behold, there comes one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
5:23 und bat ihn sehr und sprach: Meine Tochter ist in den letzten Zügen; Du wollest kommen und deine Hand auf sie legen, daß sie gesund werde und lebe.
5:23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lies at the point of death: I pray you, come and lay your hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
5:24 Und er ging hin mit ihm; und es folgte ihm viel Volks nach, und sie drängten ihn.
5:24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
5:25 Und da war ein Weib, das hatte den Blutgang zwölf Jahre gehabt
5:25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
5:26 und viel erlitten von vielen Ärzten und hatte all ihr Gut darob verzehrt, und half ihr nichts, sondern vielmehr ward es ärger mit ihr.
5:26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing improved, but rather grew worse,
5:27 Da die von Jesu hörte, kam sie im Volk von hintenzu und rührte sein Kleid an.
5:27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
5:28 Denn sie sprach: Wenn ich nur sein Kleid möchte anrühren, so würde ich gesund.
5:28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
5:29 Und alsbald vertrocknete der Brunnen ihres Bluts; und sie fühlte es am Leibe, daß sie von ihrer Plage war gesund geworden.
5:29 And immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
5:30 Und Jesus fühlte alsbald an sich selbst die Kraft, die von ihm ausgegangen war, und wandte sich um zum Volk und sprach: Wer hat meine Kleider angerührt?
5:30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
5:31 Und die Jünger sprachen zu ihm: Du siehst, daß dich das Volk drängt, und sprichst: Wer hat mich angerührt?
5:31 And his disciples said unto him, You see the multitude thronging you, and says you, Who touched me?
5:32 Und er sah sich um nach der, die das getan hatte.
5:32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
5:33 Das Weib aber fürchtete sich und zitterte (denn sie wußte, was an ihr geschehen war), kam und fiel vor ihm nieder und sagte die ganze Wahrheit.
5:33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
5:34 Er sprach aber zu ihr; Meine Tochter, Dein Glaube hat dich gesund gemacht; gehe hin mit Frieden und sei gesund von deiner Plage!
5:34 And he said unto her, Daughter, your faith has made you whole; go in peace, and be whole of your plague.
5:35 Da er noch also redete, kamen etliche vom Gesinde des Obersten der Schule und sprachen: Deine Tochter ist gestorben; was bemühst du weiter den Meister?
5:35 While he yet spoke, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Your daughter is dead: why trouble you the Master any further?
5:36 Jesus aber hörte alsbald die Rede, die da gesagt ward, und sprach zu dem Obersten der Schule: Fürchte dich nicht, glaube nur!
5:36 As soon as Jesus heard the word (o. logos) that was spoken, he says unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
5:37 Und ließ niemand ihm nachfolgen denn Petrus und Jakobus und Johannes, den Bruder des Jakobus.
5:37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
5:38 Und er kam in das Haus des Obersten der Schule und sah das Getümmel und die da weinten und heulten.
5:38 And he comes to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and sees the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
5:39 Und er ging hinein und sprach zu ihnen: Was tummelt und weinet ihr? Das Kind ist nicht gestorben, sondern es schläft. Und sie verlachten ihn.
5:39 And when he was come in, he says unto them, Why make all of you this disturbance, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleeps.
5:40 Und er trieb sie alle aus und nahm mit sich den Vater des Kindes und die Mutter die bei ihm waren, und ging hinein, da das Kind lag,
5:40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he takes the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and enters in where the damsel was lying.
5:41 und ergriff das Kind bei der Hand und sprach zu ihr: Talitha kumi! das ist verdolmetscht: Mägdlein, ich sage dir stehe auf!
5:41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto you, arise.
5:42 Und alsbald stand das Mägdlein auf und wandelte; es war aber zwölf Jahre alt. Und sie entsetzten sich über die Maßen.
5:42 And immediately the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
5:43 Und er verbot ihnen hart, daß es niemand wissen sollte, und sagte, sie sollten ihr zu essen geben.
5:43 And he charged them strictly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

6:1 Und er ging aus von da und kam in seine Vaterstadt; und seine Jünger folgten ihm nach.
6:1 And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.
6:2 Und da der Sabbat kam, hob er an zu lehren in ihrer Schule. Und viele, die es hörten, verwunderten sich seiner Lehre und sprachen: Woher kommt dem solches? Und was für Weisheit ist's, die ihm gegeben ist, und solche Taten, die durch seine Hände geschehen?
6:2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence has this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
6:3 Ist er nicht der Zimmermann, Marias Sohn, und der Bruder des Jakobus und Joses und Judas und Simon? Sind nicht auch seine Schwestern allhier bei uns? Und sie ärgerten sich an ihm.
6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
6:4 Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Ein Prophet gilt nirgend weniger denn im Vaterland und daheim bei den Seinen.
6:4 But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
6:5 Und er konnte allda nicht eine einzige Tat tun; außer wenig Siechen legte er die Hände auf und heilte sie.
6:5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6:6 Und er verwunderte sich ihres Unglaubens. Und er ging umher in die Flecken im Kreis und lehrte sie.
6:6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
6:7 Und er berief die Zwölf und hob an und sandte sie je zwei und zwei und gab ihnen Macht über die unsauberen Geister,
6:7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits; (o. pneuma)
6:8 und gebot ihnen, daß sie nichts bei sich trügen auf dem Wege denn allein einen Stab, keine Tasche, kein Brot, kein Geld im Gürtel,
6:8 And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no pouch, no bread, no money in their purse:
6:9 aber wären geschuht, und daß sie nicht zwei Röcke anzögen.
6:9 But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
6:10 Und sprach zu ihnen: Wo ihr in ein Haus gehen werdet, da bleibet bis ihr von dannen zieht.
6:10 And he said unto them, In what place whatsoever all of you enter into an house, there abide till all of you depart from that place.
6:11 Und welche euch nicht aufnehmen noch hören, da gehet von dannen heraus und schüttelt den Staub ab von euren Füßen zu einem Zeugnis über sie. Ich sage euch wahrlich: Es wird Sodom und Gomorrha am Jüngsten Gericht erträglicher gehen denn solcher Stadt.
6:11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when all of you depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
6:12 Und sie gingen aus und predigten, man sollte Buße tun,
6:12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
6:13 und trieben viele Teufel aus und salbten viele Sieche mit Öl und machten sie gesund.
6:13 And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
6:14 Und es kam vor den König Herodes (denn sein Name war nun bekannt) und er sprach: Johannes der Täufer ist von den Toten auferstanden, darum tut er solche Taten. {~}
6:14 And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do show forth themselves in him.
6:15 Etliche aber sprachen: Er ist Elia; etliche aber: Er ist ein Prophet oder einer von den Propheten.
6:15 Others said, That it is Elijah. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.
6:16 Da es aber Herodes hörte, sprach er: Es ist Johannes, den ich enthauptet habe; der ist von den Toten auferstanden.
6:16 But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he has risen from the dead.
6:17 Er aber, Herodes, hatte ausgesandt und Johannes gegriffen und ins Gefängnis gelegt um der Herodias willen, seines Bruders Philippus Weib; denn er hatte sie gefreit.
6:17 For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her.
6:18 Johannes aber sprach zu Herodes: Es ist nicht recht, daß du deines Bruders Weib habest.
6:18 For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife.
6:19 Herodias aber stellte ihm nach und wollte ihn töten, und konnte nicht.
6:19 Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:
6:20 Herodes aber fürchtete Johannes; denn er wußte, daß er ein frommer und heiliger Mann war; und verwahrte ihn und gehorchte ihm in vielen Sachen und hörte ihn gern.
6:20 For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
6:21 Und es kam ein gelegener Tag, daß Herodes auf seinen Jahrestag ein Abendmahl gab den Obersten und Hauptleuten und Vornehmsten in Galiläa.
6:21 And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;
6:22 Da trat hinein die Tochter der Herodias und tanzte, und gefiel wohl dem Herodes und denen die am Tisch saßen. Da sprach der König zu dem Mägdlein: Bitte von mir, was du willst, ich will dir's geben.
6:22 And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever you will, and I will give it you.
6:23 Und er schwur ihr einen Eid: Was du wirst von mir bitten, will ich dir geben, bis an die Hälfte meines Königreiches.
6:23 And he swore unto her, Whatsoever you shall ask of me, I will give it you, unto the half of my kingdom.
6:24 Sie ging hinaus und sprach zu ihrer Mutter: Was soll ich bitten? Die sprach: Das Haupt Johannes des Täufers.
6:24 And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
6:25 Und sie ging alsbald hinein mit Eile zum König, bat und sprach: Ich will, daß du mir gebest jetzt zur Stunde auf einer Schüssel das Haupt Johannes des Täufers.
6:25 And she came in immediately with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that you give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.
6:26 Der König war betrübt; doch um des Eides willen und derer, die am Tisch saßen, wollte er sie nicht lassen eine Fehlbitte tun.
6:26 And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.
6:27 Und alsbald schickte hin der König den Henker und hieß sein Haupt herbringen. Der ging hin und enthauptete ihn im Gefängnis
6:27 And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,
6:28 und trug her sein Haupt auf einer Schüssel und gab's dem Mägdlein, und das Mägdlein gab's ihrer Mutter.
6:28 And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother.
6:29 Und da das seine Jünger hörten, kamen sie und nahmen seinen Leib, und legten ihn in ein Grab.
6:29 And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.
6:30 Und die Apostel kamen zu Jesu zusammen und verkündigten ihm das alles und was sie getan und gelehrt hatten. {~}
6:30 And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
6:31 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Lasset uns besonders an eine wüste Stätte gehen und ruht ein wenig. Denn ihr waren viele, die ab und zu gingen; und sie hatten nicht Zeit genug, zu essen.
6:31 And he said unto them, Come all of you yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
6:32 Und er fuhr da in einem Schiff zu einer wüsten Stätte besonders.
6:32 And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.
6:33 Und das Volk sah sie wegfahren; und viele kannten ihn und liefen dahin miteinander zu Fuß aus allen Städten und kamen ihnen zuvor und kamen zu ihm.
6:33 And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran on foot thither out of all cities, and advanced before them, and came together unto him.
6:34 Und Jesus ging heraus und sah das große Volk; und es jammerte ihn derselben; denn sie waren wie die Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben; und er fing an eine lange Predigt.
6:34 And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
6:35 Da nun der Tag fast dahin war, traten seine Jünger zu ihm und sprachen: Es ist wüst hier, und der Tag ist nun dahin;
6:35 And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:
6:36 laß sie von dir, daß sie hingehen umher in die Dörfer und Märkte und kaufen sich Brot, denn sie haben nichts zu essen.
6:36 Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.
6:37 Jesus aber antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Gebt ihr ihnen zu essen. Und sie sprachen zu ihm: Sollen wir denn hingehen und für zweihundert Groschen Brot kaufen und ihnen zu essen geben?
6:37 He answered and said unto them, Give all of you them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?
6:38 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Wieviel Brot habt ihr? Gehet hin und sehet! Und da sie es erkundet hatten, sprachen sie: Fünf, und zwei Fische.
6:38 He says unto them, How many loaves have all of you? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.
6:39 Und er gebot ihnen, daß sie sich alle lagerten, tischweise, auf das grüne Gras.
6:39 And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass.
6:40 Und sie setzten sich nach Schichten, je hundert und hundert, fünfzig und fünfzig.
6:40 And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.
6:41 Und er nahm die fünf Brote und zwei Fische, sah zum Himmel auf und dankte und brach die Brote und gab sie den Jüngern, daß sie ihnen vorlegten; und die zwei Fische teilte er unter sie alle.
6:41 And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.
6:42 Und sie aßen alle und wurden satt.
6:42 And they did all eat, and were filled.
6:43 Und sie hoben auf die Brocken, zwölf Körbe voll, und von den Fischen.
6:43 And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
6:44 Und die da gegessen hatten, waren fünftausend Mann.
6:44 And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men.
6:45 Und alsbald trieb er seine Jünger, daß sie in das Schiff träten und vor ihm hinüberführen gen Bethsaida, bis daß er das Volk von sich ließe.
6:45 And immediately he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.
6:46 Und da er sie von sich geschafft hatte, ging er hin auf einen Berg, zu beten.
6:46 And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.
6:47 Und am Abend war das Schiff mitten auf dem Meer und er auf dem Lande allein.
6:47 And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.
6:48 Und er sah, daß sie Not litten im Rudern; denn der Wind war ihnen entgegen. Und um die vierte Wache der Nacht kam er zu ihnen und wandelte auf dem Meer;
6:48 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he comes unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.
6:49 und er wollte an ihnen vorübergehen. Und da sie ihn sahen auf dem Meer wandeln, meinten sie, es wäre ein Gespenst, und schrieen;
6:49 But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:
6:50 denn sie sahen ihn alle und erschraken. Aber alsbald redete er mit ihnen und sprach zu ihnen: Seid getrost, ich bin's, fürchtet euch nicht!
6:50 For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and says unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.
6:51 Und er trat zu ihnen ins Schiff, und der Wind legte sich. Und sie entsetzten und verwunderten sich über die Maßen, {~} {~}
6:51 And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.
6:52 denn sie waren nichts verständiger geworden über den Broten, und ihr Herz war erstarrt.
6:52 For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.
6:53 Und da sie hinübergefahren waren, kamen sie in das Land Genezareth und fuhren an.
6:53 And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.
6:54 Und da sie aus dem Schiff traten alsbald kannten sie ihn
6:54 And when they were come out of the ship, immediately they knew him,
6:55 und liefen in alle die umliegenden Länder und hoben an, die Kranken umherzuführen auf Betten, wo sie hörten, daß er war.
6:55 And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.
6:56 Und wo er in die Märkte oder Städte oder Dörfer einging, da legten sie die Kranken auf den Markt und baten ihn, daß sie nur den Saum seines Kleides anrühren möchten; und alle, die ihn anrührten, wurden gesund.
6:56 And anywhere he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.

7:1 Und es kamen zu ihm die Pharisäer und etliche von den Schriftgelehrten, die von Jerusalem gekommen waren.
7:1 Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem.
7:2 Und da sie sahen etliche seiner Jünger mit gemeinen (das ist ungewaschenen) Händen das Brot essen, tadelten sie es.
7:2 And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashed, hands, they found fault.
7:3 (Denn die Pharisäer und alle Juden essen nicht, sie waschen denn die Hände manchmal, und halten also die Aufsätze der Ältesten;
7:3 For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands often, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.
7:4 und wenn sie vom Markt kommen, essen sie nicht, sie waschen sich denn. Und des Dinges ist viel, das sie zu halten haben angenommen, von Trinkgefäßen und Krügen und ehernen Gefäßen und Tischen zu waschen.)
7:4 And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brazen vessels, and of tables.
7:5 Da fragten ihn nun die Pharisäer und Schriftgelehrten: Warum wandeln deine Jünger nicht nach den Aufsätzen der Ältesten, sondern essen das Brot mit ungewaschenen Händen?
7:5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not your disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?
7:6 Er aber antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Wohl fein hat von euch Heuchlern Jesaja geweissagt, wie geschrieben steht: "Dies Volk ehrt mich mit den Lippen, aber ihr Herz ist ferne von mir.
7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well has Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
7:7 Vergeblich aber ist's, daß sie mir dienen, dieweil sie lehren solche Lehre die nichts ist denn Menschengebot.
7:7 Nevertheless in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
7:8 Ihr verlasset Gottes Gebot, und haltet der Menschen Aufsätze von Krügen und Trinkgefäßen zu waschen; und desgleichen tut ihr viel.
7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, all of you hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things all of you do.
7:9 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Wohl fein habt ihr Gottes Gebote aufgehoben, auf daß ihr eure Aufsätze haltet.
7:9 And he said unto them, Full well all of you reject the commandment of God, that all of you may keep your own tradition.
7:10 Denn Mose hat gesagt: "Du sollst deinen Vater und deine Mutter ehren," und "Wer Vater oder Mutter flucht, soll des Todes sterben."
7:10 For Moses said, Honour your father and your mother; and, Whoso curses father or mother, let him die the death:
7:11 Ihr aber lehret: Wenn einer spricht zu Vater oder Mutter "Korban," das ist, "es ist Gott gegeben," was dir sollte von mir zu Nutz kommen, der tut wohl.
7:11 But all of you say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever you might be profited by me; he shall be free.
7:12 Und so laßt ihr hinfort ihn nichts tun seinem Vater oder seiner Mutter
7:12 And all of you suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;
7:13 und hebt auf Gottes Wort durch eure Aufsätze, die ihr aufgesetzt habt; und desgleichen tut ihr viel.
7:13 Making the word (o. logos) of God of no effect through your tradition, which all of you have delivered: and many such like things do all of you.
7:14 Und er rief zu sich das ganze Volk und sprach zu ihnen: Höret mir alle zu und fasset es!
7:14 And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:
7:15 Es ist nichts außerhalb des Menschen, das ihn könnte gemein machen, so es in ihn geht; sondern was von ihm ausgeht, das ist's, was den Menschen gemein macht.
7:15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
7:16 Hat jemand Ohren, zu hören, der höre!
7:16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
7:17 Und da er von dem Volk ins Haus kam, fragten ihn seine Jünger um dies Gleichnis.
7:17 And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
7:18 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Seid ihr denn auch so unverständig? Vernehmet ihr noch nicht, daß alles, was außen ist und in den Menschen geht, das kann ihn nicht gemein machen?
7:18 And he says unto them, Are all of you so without understanding also? Do all of you not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without enters into the man, it cannot defile him;
7:19 Denn es geht nicht in sein Herz, sondern in den Bauch, und geht aus durch den natürlichen Gang, der alle Speise ausfegt.
7:19 Because it enters not into his heart, but into the belly, and goes out into the draught, purging all meats?
7:20 Und er sprach: Was aus dem Menschen geht, das macht den Menschen gemein;
7:20 And he said, That which comes out of the man, that defiles the man.
7:21 denn von innen, aus dem Herzen der Menschen, gehen heraus böse Gedanken; Ehebruch, Hurerei, Mord,
7:21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
7:22 Dieberei, Geiz, Schalkheit, List, Unzucht, Schalksauge, Gotteslästerung, Hoffart, Unvernunft.
7:22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
7:23 Alle diese bösen Stücke gehen von innen heraus und machen den Menschen gemein.
7:23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
7:24 Und er stand auf und ging von dannen in die Gegend von Tyrus und Sidon; und ging da in ein Haus und wollte es niemand wissen lassen, und konnte doch nicht verborgen sein.
7:24 And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.
7:25 Denn ein Weib hatte von ihm gehört, deren Töchterlein einen unsauberen Geist hatte, und sie kam und fiel nieder zu seinen Füßen
7:25 For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, (o. pneuma) heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:
7:26 (und es war ein griechisches Weib aus Syrophönizien), und sie bat ihn, daß er den Teufel von ihrer Tochter austriebe. {~}
7:26 The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.
7:27 Jesus aber sprach zu ihr: Laß zuvor die Kinder satt werden; es ist nicht fein, daß man der Kinder Brot nehme und werfe es vor die Hunde.
7:27 But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.
7:28 Sie antwortete aber und sprach zu ihm: Ja, HERR; aber doch essen die Hündlein unter dem Tisch von den Brosamen der Kinder.
7:28 And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.
7:29 Und er sprach zu ihr: Um des Wortes willen so gehe hin; der Teufel ist von deiner Tochter ausgefahren.
7:29 And he said unto her, For this saying (o. logos) go your way; the devil is gone out of your daughter.
7:30 Und sie ging hin in ihr Haus und fand, daß der Teufel war ausgefahren und die Tochter auf dem Bette liegend.
7:30 And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.
7:31 Und da er wieder ausging aus der Gegend von Tyrus und Sidon, kam er an das Galiläische Meer, mitten in das Gebiet der zehn Städte.
7:31 And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.
7:32 Und sie brachten zu ihm einen Tauben, der stumm war, und sie baten ihn, daß er die Hand auf ihn legte.
7:32 And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an barrier in his speech; and they plead to him to put his hand upon him.
7:33 Und er nahm ihn von dem Volk besonders und legte ihm die Finger in die Ohren und spützte und rührte seine Zunge
7:33 And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue;
7:34 und sah auf gen Himmel, seufzte und sprach zu ihm: Hephatha! das ist: Tu dich auf!
7:34 And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and says unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.
7:35 Und alsbald taten sich seine Ohren auf, und das Band seiner Zunge war los, und er redete recht.
7:35 And immediately his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plain.
7:36 Und er verbot ihnen, sie sollten's niemand sagen. Je mehr er aber verbot, je mehr sie es ausbreiteten.
7:36 And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;
7:37 Und sie wunderten sich über die Maßen und sprachen: Er hat alles wohl gemacht; die Tauben macht er hörend und die Sprachlosen redend. {~}
7:37 And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He has done all things well: he makes both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

8:1 Zu der Zeit, da viel Volks da war, und hatten nichts zu essen, rief Jesus seine Jünger zu sich und sprach zu ihnen:
8:1 In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and says unto them,
8:2 Mich jammert des Volks; denn sie haben nun drei Tage bei mir beharrt und haben nichts zu essen;
8:2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:
8:3 und wenn ich sie ungegessen von mir heim ließe gehen, würden sie auf dem Wege verschmachten; denn etliche sind von ferne gekommen.
8:3 And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
8:4 Seine Jünger antworteten ihm: Woher nehmen wir Brot hier in der Wüste, daß wir sie sättigen?
8:4 And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
8:5 Und er fragte sie: Wieviel habt ihr Brote? Sie sprachen: Sieben.
8:5 And he asked them, How many loaves have all of you? And they said, Seven.
8:6 Und er gebot dem Volk, daß sie sich auf der Erde lagerten. Und er nahm die sieben Brote und dankte und brach sie und gab sie seinen Jüngern, daß sie dieselben vorlegten; und sie legten dem Volk vor.
8:6 And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.
8:7 Und hatten ein wenig Fischlein; und er dankte und hieß die auch vortragen.
8:7 And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.
8:8 Sie aßen aber und wurden satt; und hoben die übrigen Brocken auf, sieben Körbe.
8:8 So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken food that was left seven baskets.
8:9 Und ihrer waren bei viertausend, die da gegessen hatten; und er ließ sie von sich.
8:9 And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.
8:10 Und alsbald trat er in ein Schiff mit seinen Jüngern und kam in die Gegend von Dalmanutha.
8:10 And immediately he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.
8:11 Und die Pharisäer gingen heraus und fingen an, sich mit ihm zu befragen, versuchten ihn und begehrten von ihm ein Zeichen vom Himmel.
8:11 And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.
8:12 Und er seufzte in seinem Geist und sprach: Was sucht doch dies Geschlecht Zeichen? Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Es wird diesem Geschlecht kein Zeichen gegeben.
8:12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, (o. pneuma) and says, Why does this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.
8:13 Und er ließ sie und trat wiederum in das Schiff und fuhr herüber.
8:13 And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.
8:14 Und sie hatten vergessen, Brot mit sich zu nehmen, und hatten nicht mehr mit sich im Schiff denn ein Brot.
8:14 Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.
8:15 Und er gebot ihnen und sprach: Schauet zu und sehet euch vor vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer und vor dem Sauerteig des Herodes.
8:15 And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.
8:16 Und sie gedachten hin und her und sprachen untereinander: Das ist's, daß wir nicht Brot haben.
8:16 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.
8:17 Und Jesus merkte das und sprach zu ihnen: Was bekümmert ihr euch doch, daß ihr nicht Brot habt? Vernehmet ihr noch nichts und seid noch nicht verständig? Habt ihr noch ein erstarrtes Herz in euch?
8:17 And when Jesus knew it, he says unto them, Why reason all of you, because all of you have no bread? perceive all of you not yet, neither understand? have all of you your heart yet hardened?
8:18 Ihr habt Augen, und sehet nicht, und habt Ohren, und höret nicht, und denket nicht daran,
8:18 Having eyes, see all of you not? and having ears, hear all of you not? and do all of you not remember?
8:19 da ich fünf Brote brach unter fünftausend: wie viel Körbe voll Brocken hobt ihr da auf? Sie sprachen: Zwölf.
8:19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took all of you up? They say unto him, Twelve.
8:20 Da ich aber sieben brach unter die viertausend, wieviel Körbe voll Brocken hobt ihr da auf? Sie sprachen: Sieben.
8:20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took all of you up? And they said, Seven.
8:21 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Wie vernehmet ihr denn nichts?
8:21 And he said unto them, How is it that all of you do not understand?
8:22 Und er kam gen Bethsaida. Und sie brachten zu ihm einen Blinden und baten ihn, daß er ihn anrührte.
8:22 And he comes to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.
8:23 Und er nahm den Blinden bei der Hand und führte ihn hinaus vor den Flecken; spützte in seine Augen und legte seine Hände auf ihn und fragte ihn, ob er etwas sähe?
8:23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
8:24 Und er sah auf und sprach: Ich sehe Menschen gehen, als sähe ich Bäume.
8:24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
8:25 Darnach legte er abermals die Hände auf seine Augen und hieß ihn abermals sehen; und er ward wieder zurechtgebracht, daß er alles scharf sehen konnte.
8:25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
8:26 Und er schickte ihn heim und sprach: Gehe nicht hinein in den Flecken und sage es auch niemand drinnen.
8:26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.
8:27 Und Jesus ging aus mit seinen Jüngern in die Märkte der Stadt Cäsarea Philippi. Und auf dem Wege fragte er seine Jünger und sprach zu ihnen: Wer sagen die Leute, daß ich sei?
8:27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?
8:28 Sie antworteten: Sie sagen du seiest Johannes der Täufer; etliche sagen, du seiest Elia; etliche, du seiest der Propheten einer.
8:28 And they answered, John the Baptist; but some say, Elijah; and others, One of the prophets.
8:29 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Ihr aber, wer sagt ihr, daß ich sei? Da antwortete Petrus und sprach zu ihm: Du bist Christus!
8:29 And he says unto them, But whom say all of you that I am? And Peter answers and says unto him, You are the Christ.
8:30 Und er bedrohte sie, daß sie niemand von ihm sagen sollten.
8:30 And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.
8:31 Und er hob an sie zu lehren: Des Menschen Sohn muß viel leiden und verworfen werden von den Ältesten und Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten und getötet werden und über drei Tage auferstehen.
8:31 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
8:32 Und er redete das Wort frei offenbar. Und Petrus nahm ihn zu sich, fing an, ihm zu wehren.
8:32 And he spoke that saying (o. logos) openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.
8:33 Er aber wandte sich um und sah seine Jünger an und bedrohte Petrus und sprach: Gehe hinter mich, du Satan! denn du meinst nicht, was göttlich, sondern was menschlich ist.
8:33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get you behind me, Satan: for you savour not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.
8:34 Und er rief zu sich das Volk samt seinen Jüngern und sprach zu ihnen: Wer mir will nachfolgen, der verleugne sich selbst und nehme sein Kreuz auf sich und folge mir nach.
8:34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
8:35 Denn wer sein Leben will behalten, der wird's verlieren; und wer sein Leben verliert um meinet-und des Evangeliums willen, der wird's behalten.
8:35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
8:36 Was hülfe es dem Menschen, wenn er die ganze Welt gewönne, und nähme an seiner Seele Schaden?
8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
8:37 Oder was kann der Mensch geben, damit er seine Seele löse.
8:37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
8:38 Wer sich aber mein und meiner Worte schämt unter diesem ehebrecherischen und sündigen Geschlecht, des wird sich auch des Menschen Sohn schämen, wenn er kommen wird in der Herrlichkeit seines Vaters mit den heiligen Engeln.
8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words (o. logos) in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
