17:1 Er sprach aber zu seinen Jüngern: Es ist unmöglich, daß nicht Ärgernisse kommen; weh aber dem, durch welchen sie kommen!
17:1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
17:2 Es wäre ihm besser, daß man einen Mühlstein an seinen Hals hängte und würfe ihm ins Meer, denn daß er dieser Kleinen einen ärgert.
17:2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
17:3 Hütet euch! So dein Bruder an dir sündigt, so strafe ihn; und so es ihn reut, vergib ihm.
17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If your brother trespass against you, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
17:4 Und wenn er siebenmal des Tages an dir sündigen würde und siebenmal des Tages wiederkäme zu dir und spräche: Es reut mich! so sollst du ihm vergeben.
17:4 And if he trespass against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day return to you, saying, I repent; you shall forgive him.
17:5 Und die Apostel sprachen zum HERRN: Stärke uns den Glauben!
17:5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.
17:6 Der HERR aber sprach: Wenn ihr Glauben habt wie ein Senfkorn und sagt zu diesem Maulbeerbaum: Reiß dich aus und versetze dich ins Meer! so wird er euch gehorsam sein.
17:6 And the Lord said, If all of you had faith as a grain of mustard seed, all of you might say unto this sycamine tree, Be you plucked up by the root, and be you planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
17:7 Welcher ist unter euch, der einen Knecht hat, der ihm pflügt oder das Vieh weidet, wenn er heimkommt vom Felde, daß er ihm alsbald sage: Gehe alsbald hin und setze dich zu Tische?
17:7 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he has come from the field, Go and sit down to food?
17:8 Ist's nicht also, daß er zu ihm sagt: Richte zu, was ich zum Abend esse, schürze dich und diene mir, bis ich esse und trinke; darnach sollst du auch essen und trinken?
17:8 And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird yourself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward you shall eat and drink?
17:9 Dankt er auch dem Knechte, daß er getan hat, was ihm befohlen war? Ich meine es nicht.
17:9 Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I I think not not.
17:10 Also auch ihr; wenn ihr alles getan habt, was euch befohlen ist, so sprechet: Wir sind unnütze Knechte; wir haben getan, was wir zu tun schuldig waren.
17:10 So likewise all of you, when all of you shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are useless servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
17:11 Und es begab sich, da er reiste gen Jerusalem, zog er mitten durch Samarien und Galiläa.
17:11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
17:12 Und als er in einen Markt kam, begegneten ihm zehn aussätzige Männer, die standen von ferne
17:12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood far off:
17:13 und erhoben ihre Stimme und sprachen: Jesu, lieber Meister, erbarme dich unser!
17:13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
17:14 Und da er sie sah, sprach er zu ihnen: Gehet hin und zeiget euch den Priestern! Und es geschah, da sie hingingen, wurden sie rein.
17:14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
17:15 Einer aber unter ihnen, da er sah, daß er geheilt war, kehrte um und pries Gott mit lauter Stimme
17:15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
17:16 und fiel auf sein Angesicht zu seinen Füßen und dankte ihm. Und das war ein Samariter.
17:16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17:17 Jesus aber antwortete und sprach: Sind ihrer nicht zehn rein geworden? Wo sind aber die neun?
17:17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
17:18 Hat sich sonst keiner gefunden, der wieder umkehrte und gäbe Gott die Ehre, denn dieser Fremdling?
17:18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
17:19 Und er sprach zu ihm: Stehe auf, gehe hin; dein Glaube hat dir geholfen.
17:19 And he said unto him, Arise, go your way: your faith has made you whole.
17:20 Da er aber gefragt ward von den Pharisäern: Wann kommt das Reich Gottes? antwortete er ihnen und sprach: Das Reich Gottes kommt nicht mit äußerlichen Gebärden;
17:20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God comes not with observation:
17:21 man wird auch nicht sagen: Siehe hier! oder: da ist es! Denn sehet, das Reich Gottes ist inwendig in euch.
17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
17:22 Er sprach aber zu den Jüngern: Es wird die Zeit kommen, daß ihr werdet begehren zu sehen einen Tag des Menschensohnes, und werdet ihn nicht sehen.
17:22 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when all of you shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and all of you shall not see it.
17:23 Und sie werden zu euch sagen: Siehe hier! siehe da! Gehet nicht hin und folget auch nicht.
17:23 And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.
17:24 Denn wie der Blitz oben vom Himmel blitzt und leuchtet über alles, was unter dem Himmel ist, also wird des Menschen Sohn an seinem Tage sein.
17:24 For as the lightning, that lightens out of the one part under heaven, shines unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.
17:25 Zuvor aber muß er viel leiden und verworfen werden von diesem Geschlecht.
17:25 But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.
17:26 Und wie es geschah zu den Zeiten Noahs, so wird's auch geschehen in den Tagen des Menschensohnes:
17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
17:27 sie aßen, sie tranken, sie freiten, sie ließen freien bis auf den Tag, da Noah in die Arche ging und die Sintflut kam und brachte sie alle um.
17:27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
17:28 Desgleichen wie es geschah zu den Zeiten Lots: sie aßen, sie tranken, sie kauften, sie verkauften, sie pflanzten, sie bauten;
17:28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;
17:29 an dem Tage aber, da Lot aus Sodom ging, da regnete es Feuer und Schwefel vom Himmel und brachte sie alle um.
17:29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
17:30 Auf diese Weise wird's auch gehen an dem Tage, wenn des Menschen Sohn soll offenbart werden.
17:30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
17:31 An dem Tage, wer auf dem Dach ist und sein Hausrat in dem Hause, der steige nicht hernieder, ihn zu holen. Desgleichen wer auf dem Felde ist, der wende nicht um nach dem was hinter ihm ist.
17:31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
17:32 Gedenket an des Lot Weib!
17:32 Remember Lot's wife.
17:33 Wer da sucht, seine Seele zu erhalten, der wird sie verlieren; und wer sie verlieren wird, der wird ihr zum Leben helfen.
17:33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
17:34 Ich sage euch: In derselben Nacht werden zwei auf einem Bette liegen; einer wird angenommen, der andere wird verlassen werden.
17:34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
17:35 Zwei werden mahlen miteinander; eine wird angenommen, die andere wird verlassen werden.
17:35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
17:36 Zwei werden auf dem Felde sein; einer wird angenommen, der andere wird verlassen werden.
17:36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
17:37 Und sie antworteten und sprachen zu ihm: HERR wo? Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Wo das Aas ist, da sammeln sich auch die Adler.
17:37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Where ever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

18:1 Er sagte ihnen aber ein Gleichnis davon, daß man allezeit beten und nicht laß werden solle,
18:1 And he spoke a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
18:2 und sprach: Es war ein Richter in einer Stadt, der fürchtete sich nicht vor Gott und scheute sich vor keinem Menschen.
18:2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
18:3 Es war aber eine Witwe in dieser Stadt, die kam zu ihm und sprach: Rette mich von meinem Widersacher!
18:3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
18:4 Und er wollte lange nicht. Darnach aber dachte er bei sich selbst: Ob ich mich schon vor Gott nicht fürchte noch vor keinem Menschen scheue,
18:4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
18:5 dieweil aber mir diese Witwe so viel Mühe macht, will ich sie retten, auf daß sie nicht zuletzt komme und betäube mich.
18:5 Yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
18:6 Da sprach der HERR: Höret hier, was der ungerechte Richter sagt!
18:6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says.
18:7 Sollte aber Gott nicht auch retten seine Auserwählten, die zu ihm Tag und Nacht rufen, und sollte er's mit ihnen verziehen?
18:7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
18:8 Ich sage euch: Er wird sie erretten in einer Kürze. Doch wenn des Menschen Sohn kommen wird, meinst du, daß er auch werde Glauben finden auf Erden?
18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth?
18:9 Er sagte aber zu etlichen, die sich selbst vermaßen, daß sie fromm wären, und verachteten die andern, ein solch Gleichnis:
18:9 And he spoke this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
18:10 Es gingen zwei Menschen hinauf in den Tempel, zu beten, einer ein Pharisäer, der andere ein Zöllner.
18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
18:11 Der Pharisäer stand und betete bei sich selbst also: Ich danke dir, Gott, daß ich nicht bin wie die anderen Leute, Räuber, Ungerechte, Ehebrecher, oder auch wie dieser Zöllner.
18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you, that I am not as other men are, extortionists, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
18:12 Ich faste zweimal in der Woche und gebe den Zehnten von allem, was ich habe.
18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
18:13 Und der Zöllner stand von ferne, wollte auch seine Augen nicht aufheben gen Himmel, sondern schlug an seine Brust und sprach: Gott, sei mir Sünder gnädig!
18:13 And the publican, standing far off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but stroke upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
18:14 Ich sage euch: Dieser ging hinab gerechtfertigt in sein Haus vor jenem. Denn wer sich selbst erhöht, der wird erniedrigt werden; und wer sich selbst erniedrigt, der wird erhöht werden.
18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalts himself shall be brought low; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.
18:15 Sie brachten auch junge Kindlein zu ihm, daß er sie anrühren sollte. Da es aber die Jünger sahen, bedrohten sie die.
18:15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
18:16 Aber Jesus rief sie zu sich und sprach: Lasset die Kindlein zu mir kommen und wehret ihnen nicht; denn solcher ist das Reich Gottes.
18:16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
18:17 Wahrlich ich sage euch: Wer nicht das Reich Gottes annimmt wie ein Kind, der wird nicht hineinkommen.
18:17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
18:18 Und es fragte ihn ein Oberster und sprach: Guter Meister, was muß ich tun, daß ich das ewige Leben ererbe?
18:18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
18:19 Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Was heißest du mich gut? Niemand ist gut denn der einige Gott.
18:19 And Jesus said unto him, Why call you me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
18:20 Du weißt die Gebote wohl: "Du sollst nicht ehebrechen; du sollst nicht töten; du sollst nicht stehlen; du sollst nicht falsch Zeugnis reden; du sollst deinen Vater und deine Mutter ehren."
18:20 You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour your father and your mother.
18:21 Er aber sprach: Das habe ich alles gehalten von meiner Jugend auf.
18:21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
18:22 Da Jesus das hörte, sprach er zu ihm: Es fehlt dir noch eins. Verkaufe alles, was du hast, und gib's den Armen, so wirst du einen Schatz im Himmel haben; und komm, folge mir nach!
18:22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lack you one thing: sell all that you have, and distribute unto the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
18:23 Da er aber das hörte, ward er traurig; denn er war sehr reich.
18:23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
18:24 Da aber Jesus sah, daß er traurig war geworden, sprach er: Wie schwer werden die Reichen in das Reich Gottes kommen!
18:24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
18:25 Es ist leichter, daß ein Kamel gehe durch ein Nadelöhr, denn daß ein Reicher in das Reich Gottes komme.
18:25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
18:26 Da sprachen, die das hörten: Wer kann denn selig werden?
18:26 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
18:27 Er aber sprach: Was bei den Menschen unmöglich ist, das ist bei Gott möglich.
18:27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
18:28 Da sprach Petrus: Siehe, wir haben alles verlassen und sind dir nachgefolgt.
18:28 Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed you.
18:29 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Wahrlich ich sage euch: Es ist niemand, der ein Haus verläßt oder Eltern oder Brüder oder Weib oder Kinder um des Reiches Gottes willen,
18:29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that has left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
18:30 der es nicht vielfältig wieder empfange in dieser Zeit, und in der zukünftigen Welt das ewige Leben.
18:30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.
18:31 Er nahm aber zu sich die Zwölf und sprach zu ihnen: Sehet, wir gehen hinauf gen Jerusalem, und es wird alles vollendet werden, was geschrieben ist durch die Propheten von des Menschen Sohn.
18:31 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
18:32 Denn er wird überantwortet werden den Heiden; und er wird verspottet und geschmähet und verspeiet werden,
18:32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully pleaded, and spitted on:
18:33 und sie werden ihn geißeln und töten; und am dritten Tage wird er wieder auferstehen.
18:33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
18:34 Sie aber verstanden der keines, und die Rede war ihnen verborgen, und wußten nicht, was das Gesagte war.
18:34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying (o. rhema) was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.
18:35 Es geschah aber, da er nahe an Jericho kam, saß ein Blinder am Wege und bettelte.
18:35 And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:
18:36 Da er aber hörte das Volk, das hindurchging, forschte er, was das wäre.
18:36 And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.
18:37 Da verkündigten sie ihm, Jesus von Nazareth ginge vorüber.
18:37 And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passes by.
18:38 Und er rief und sprach: Jesu, du Sohn Davids, erbarme dich mein!
18:38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me.
18:39 Die aber vornean gingen, bedrohten ihn, er sollte schweigen. Er aber schrie viel mehr: Du Sohn Davids, erbarme dich mein!
18:39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, You son of David, have mercy on me.
18:40 Jesus aber stand still und hieß ihn zu sich führen. Da sie ihn aber nahe zu ihm brachten, fragte er ihn
18:40 And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,
18:41 und sprach: Was willst du, daß ich dir tun soll? Er sprach: HERR, daß ich sehen möge.
18:41 Saying, What will you that I shall do unto you? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.
18:42 Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: Sei sehend! dein Glaube hat dir geholfen.
18:42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive your sight: your faith has saved you.
18:43 Und alsobald ward er sehend und folgte ihm nach und pries Gott. Und alles Volk, das solches sah, lobte Gott.
18:43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.

19:1 Und er zog hinein und ging durch Jericho.
19:1 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.
19:2 Und siehe, da war ein Mann, genannt Zachäus, der war ein Oberster der Zöllner und war reich.
19:2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.
19:3 Und er begehrte Jesum zu sehen, wer er wäre, und konnte nicht vor dem Volk; denn er war klein von Person.
19:3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.
19:4 Und er lief voraus und stieg auf einen Maulbeerbaum, auf daß er ihn sähe: denn allda sollte er durchkommen.
19:4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
19:5 Und als Jesus kam an die Stätte, sah er auf und ward sein gewahr und sprach zu ihm: Zachäus, steig eilend hernieder; denn ich muß heute in deinem Hause einkehren!
19:5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; in order to day I must abide at your house.
19:6 Und er stieg eilend hernieder und nahm ihn auf mit Freuden.
19:6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
19:7 Da sie das sahen, murrten sie alle, daß er bei einem Sünder einkehrte.
19:7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
19:8 Zachäus aber trat dar und sprach zu dem HERRN: Siehe, HERR, die Hälfte meiner Güter gebe ich den Armen, und so ich jemand betrogen habe, das gebe ich vierfältig wieder.
19:8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
19:9 Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Heute ist diesem Hause Heil widerfahren, sintemal er auch Abrahams Sohn ist.
19:9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
19:10 Denn des Menschen Sohn ist gekommen, zu suchen und selig zu machen, das verloren ist.
19:10 For the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.
19:11 Da sie nun zuhörten, sagte er weiter ein Gleichnis, darum daß er nahe bei Jerusalem war und sie meinten, das Reich Gottes sollte alsbald offenbart werden,
19:11 And as they heard these things, he added and spoke a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
19:12 und sprach: Ein Edler zog ferne in ein Land, daß er ein Reich einnähme und dann wiederkäme.
19:12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
19:13 Dieser forderte zehn seiner Knechte und gab ihnen zehn Pfund und sprach zu ihnen: Handelt, bis daß ich wiederkomme!
19:13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
19:14 Seine Bürger aber waren ihm feind und schickten Botschaft ihm nach und ließen sagen: Wir wollen nicht, daß dieser über uns herrsche.
19:14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
19:15 Und es begab sich, da er wiederkam, nachdem er das Reich eingenommen hatte, hieß dieselben Knechte fordern, welchen er das Geld gegeben hatte, daß er wüßte, was ein jeglicher gehandelt hätte.
19:15 And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
19:16 Da trat herzu der erste und sprach: Herr, dein Pfund hat zehn Pfund erworben.
19:16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, your pound has gained ten pounds.
19:17 Und er sprach zu ihm: Ei, du frommer Knecht, dieweil du bist im Geringsten treu gewesen, sollst du Macht haben über zehn Städte.
19:17 And he said unto him, Well, you good servant: because you have been faithful in a very little, have you authority over ten cities.
19:18 Der andere kam und sprach: Herr dein Pfund hat fünf Pfund getragen.
19:18 And the second came, saying, Lord, your pound has gained five pounds.
19:19 Zu dem sprach er auch: Du sollst sein über fünf Städte.
19:19 And he said likewise to him, Be you also over five cities.
19:20 Und der dritte kam und sprach: Herr, siehe da, hier ist dein Pfund, welches ich habe im Schweißtuch behalten;
19:20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is your pound, which I have kept laid up in a cloth:
19:21 ich fürchtete mich vor dir, denn du bist ein harter Mann: du nimmst, was du nicht hingelegt hast, und erntest, was du nicht gesät hast.
19:21 For I feared you, because you are an austere man: you take up that you layed not down, and reap that you did not sow.
19:22 Er sprach zu ihm: Aus deinem Munde richte ich dich, du Schalk. Wußtest Du, daß ich ein harter Mann bin, nehme, was ich nicht hingelegt habe, und ernte, was ich nicht gesät habe?
19:22 And he says unto him, Out of yours own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
19:23 Warum hast du denn mein Geld nicht in die Wechselbank gegeben? Und wenn ich gekommen wäre, hätte ich's mit Zinsen erfordert.
19:23 Wherefore then gave not you my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with interest?
19:24 Und er sprach zu denen, die dabeistanden: Nehmt das Pfund von ihm und gebt es dem, der zehn Pfund hat.
19:24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that has ten pounds.
19:25 Und sie sprachen zu ihm: Herr, hat er doch zehn Pfund.
19:25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he has ten pounds.)
19:26 Ich sage euch aber: Wer da hat, dem wird gegeben werden; von dem aber, der nicht hat, wird auch das genommen werden, was er hat.
19:26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which has shall be given; and from him that has not, even that he has shall be taken away from him.
19:27 Doch jene meine Feinde, die nicht wollten, daß ich über sie herrschen sollte, bringet her und erwürget sie vor mir.
19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring here, and slay them before me.
19:28 Und als er solches sagte, zog er fort und reiste hinauf gen Jerusalem.
19:28 And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.
19:29 Uns es begab sich, als er nahte gen Bethphage und Bethanien und kam an den Ölberg, sandte er seiner Jünger zwei
19:29 And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,
19:30 und sprach: Gehet hin in den Markt, der gegenüberliegt. Und wenn ihr hineinkommt, werdet ihr ein Füllen angebunden finden, auf welchem noch nie ein Mensch gesessen hat; löset es ab und bringet es!
19:30 Saying, Go all of you into the village opposite to you; in the which at your entering all of you shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him here.
19:31 Und so euch jemand fragt, warum ihr's ablöset, so sagt also zu ihm: Der HERR bedarf sein.
19:31 And if any man ask you, Why do all of you loose him? thus shall all of you say unto him, Because the Lord has need of him.
19:32 Und die Gesandten gingen hin und fanden, wie er ihnen gesagt hatte.
19:32 And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.
19:33 Da sie aber das Füllen ablösten, sprachen seine Herren zu ihnen: Warum löst ihr das Füllen ab?
19:33 And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose all of you the colt?
19:34 Sie aber sprachen: Der HERR bedarf sein.
19:34 And they said, The Lord has need of him.
19:35 Und sie brachten's zu Jesu und warfen ihre Kleider auf das Füllen und setzten Jesum darauf.
19:35 And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.
19:36 Da er nun hinzog, breiteten sie ihre Kleider auf den Weg.
19:36 And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.
19:37 Und da er nahe hinzukam und zog den Ölberg herab, fing an der ganze Haufe seiner Jünger, fröhlich Gott zu loben mit lauter Stimme über alle Taten, die sie gesehen hatten,
19:37 And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
19:38 und sprachen: Gelobt sei, der da kommt, ein König, in dem Namen des HERRN! Friede sei im Himmel und Ehre in der Höhe!
19:38 Saying, Blessed be the King that comes in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
19:39 Und etliche der Pharisäer im Volk sprachen zu ihm: Meister, strafe doch deine Jünger!
19:39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke your disciples.
19:40 Er antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Ich sage euch: Wo diese werden schweigen, so werden die Steine schreien.
19:40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
19:41 Und als er nahe hinzukam, sah er die Stadt an und weinte über sie
19:41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
19:42 und sprach: Wenn doch auch du erkenntest zu dieser deiner Zeit, was zu deinem Frieden dient! Aber nun ist's vor deinen Augen verborgen.
19:42 Saying, If you had known, even you, at least in this your day, the things which belong unto your peace! but now they are hid from yours eyes.
19:43 Denn es wird die Zeit über dich kommen, daß deine Feinde werden um dich und deine Kinder mit dir eine Wagenburg schlagen, dich belagern und an allen Orten ängsten;
19:43 For the days shall come upon you, that yours enemies shall cast a trench about you, and compass you round, and keep you in on every side,
19:44 und werden dich schleifen und keinen Stein auf dem andern lassen, darum daß du nicht erkannt hast die Zeit, darin du heimgesucht bist.
19:44 And shall lay you even with the ground, and your children within you; and they shall not leave in you one stone upon another; because you knew not the time of your visitation.
19:45 Und er ging in den Tempel und fing an auszutreiben, die darin verkauften und kauften,
19:45 And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;
19:46 und er sprach zu ihnen: Es steht geschrieben: "Mein Haus ist ein Bethaus"; ihr aber habt's gemacht zur Mördergrube.
19:46 Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but all of you have made it a den of thieves.
19:47 Und er lehrte täglich im Tempel. Aber die Hohenpriester und Schriftgelehrten und die Vornehmsten im Volk trachteten ihm nach, wie sie ihn umbrächten;
19:47 And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,
19:48 und fanden nicht, wie sie ihm tun sollten, denn das Volk hing ihm an und hörte ihn.
19:48 And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

20:1 Und es begab sich an der Tage einem, da er das Volk lehrte im Tempel und predigte das Evangelium, da traten zu ihm die Hohenpriester und Schriftgelehrten mit den Ältesten
20:1 And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders,
20:2 und sagten zu ihm und sprachen: Sage uns, aus was für Macht tust du das? oder wer hat dir die Macht gegeben?
20:2 And spoke unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority do you these things? or who is he that gave you this authority?
20:3 Er aber antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Ich will euch auch ein Wort fragen; saget mir's:
20:3 And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; (o. logos) and answer me:
20:4 Die Taufe des Johannes, war sie vom Himmel oder von Menschen?
20:4 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?
20:5 Sie aber gedachten bei sich selbst und sprachen: Sagen wir: Vom Himmel, so wird er sagen: Warum habt ihr ihm denn nicht geglaubt?
20:5 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed all of you him not?
20:6 Sagen wir aber: Von Menschen, so wird uns das Volk steinigen; denn sie stehen darauf, daß Johannes ein Prophet sei.
20:6 But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.
20:7 Und sie antworteten, sie wüßten's nicht, wo sie her wäre.
20:7 And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was.
20:8 Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: So sage ich euch auch nicht, aus was für Macht ich das tue.
20:8 And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
20:9 Er fing aber an, zu sagen dem Volk dies Gleichnis: Ein Mensch pflanzte einen Weinberg und tat ihn den Weingärtnern aus und zog über Land eine gute Zeit.
20:9 Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.
20:10 Und zu seiner Zeit sandte er einen Knecht zu den Weingärtnern, daß sie ihm gäben von der Frucht des Weinberges. Aber die Weingärtner stäupten ihn und ließen ihn leer von sich.
20:10 And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.
20:11 Und über das sandte er noch einen anderen Knecht; sie aber stäupten den auch und höhnten ihn und ließen ihn leer von sich.
20:11 And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and pleaded him shamefully, and sent him away empty.
20:12 Und über das sandte er den dritten; sie aber verwundeten den auch und stießen ihn hinaus.
20:12 And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out.
20:13 Da sprach der Herr des Weinberges: Was soll ich tun? Ich will meinen lieben Sohn senden; vielleicht, wenn sie den sehen, werden sie sich scheuen.
20:13 Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him.
20:14 Da aber die Weingärtner den Sohn sahen, dachten sie bei sich selbst und sprachen: Das ist der Erbe; kommt, laßt uns ihn töten, daß das Erbe unser sei!
20:14 But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.
20:15 Und sie stießen ihn hinaus vor den Weinberg und töteten ihn. Was wird nun der Herr des Weinberges ihnen tun?
20:15 So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them?
20:16 Er wird kommen und diese Weingärtner umbringen und seinen Weinberg andern austun. Da sie das hörten, sprachen sie: Das sei ferne!
20:16 He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.
20:17 Er aber sah sie an und sprach: Was ist denn das, was geschrieben steht: "Der Stein, den die Bauleute verworfen haben, ist zum Eckstein geworden"?
20:17 And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?
20:18 Wer auf diesen Stein fällt, der wird zerschellen; auf wen aber er fällt, den wird er zermalmen.
20:18 Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
20:19 Und die Hohenpriester und Schriftgelehrten trachteten darnach, wie sie die Hände an ihn legten zu derselben Stunde; und fürchteten sich vor dem Volk, denn sie verstanden, daß er auf sie dies Gleichnis gesagt hatte.
20:19 And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.
20:20 Und sie stellten ihm nach und sandten Laurer aus, die sich stellen sollten, als wären sie fromm, auf daß sie ihn in der Rede fingen, damit sie ihn überantworten könnten der Obrigkeit und Gewalt des Landpflegers.
20:20 And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, (o. logos) that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.
20:21 Und sie fragten ihn und sprachen: Meister, wir wissen, daß du aufrichtig redest und lehrest und achtest keines Menschen Ansehen, sondern du lehrest den Weg Gottes recht.
20:21 And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that you says and teach rightly, neither accept you the person of any, but teach the way of God truly:
20:22 Ist's recht, daß wir dem Kaiser den Schoß geben, oder nicht?
20:22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?
20:23 Er aber merkte ihre List und sprach zu ihnen: Was versuchet ihr mich?
20:23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt all of you me?
20:24 Zeiget mir den Groschen! Wes Bild und Überschrift hat er? Sie antworteten und sprachen: Des Kaisers.
20:24 Show me a penny. Whose image and superscription has it? They answered and said, Caesar's.
20:25 Er aber sprach: So gebet dem Kaiser, was des Kaisers ist, und Gott, was Gottes ist!
20:25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.
20:26 Und sie konnten sein Wort nicht tadeln vor dem Volk und verwunderten sich seiner Antwort und schwiegen still.
20:26 And they could not take hold of his words (o. rhema) before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.
20:27 Da traten zu ihm etliche der Sadduzäer, welche da halten, es sei kein Auferstehen, und fragten ihn
20:27 Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,
20:28 und sprachen: Meister, Mose hat uns geschrieben: So jemandes Bruder stirbt, der ein Weib hat, und stirbt kinderlos, so soll sein Bruder das Weib nehmen und seinem Bruder einen Samen erwecken.
20:28 Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
20:29 Nun waren sieben Brüder. Der erste nahm ein Weib und starb kinderlos.
20:29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.
20:30 Und der andere nahm das Weib und starb auch kinderlos.
20:30 And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.
20:31 Und der dritte nahm sie. Desgleichen alle sieben und hinterließen keine Kinder und starben.
20:31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.
20:32 Zuletzt nach allen starb auch das Weib.
20:32 Last of all the woman died also.
20:33 Nun in der Auferstehung, wes Weib wird sie sein unter denen? Denn alle sieben haben sie zum Weibe gehabt.
20:33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.
20:34 Und Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Die Kinder dieser Welt freien und lassen sich freien;
20:34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
20:35 welche aber würdig sein werden, jene Welt zu erlangen und die Auferstehung von den Toten, die werden weder freien noch sich freien lassen.
20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
20:36 Denn sie können hinfort nicht sterben; denn sie sind den Engeln gleich und Gottes Kinder, dieweil sie Kinder sind der Auferstehung.
20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
20:37 Daß aber die Toten auferstehen, hat auch Mose gedeutet bei dem Busch, da er den HERRN heißt Gott Abrahams und Gott Isaaks und Gott Jakobs.
20:37 Now that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he calls the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
20:38 Gott aber ist nicht der Toten, sondern der Lebendigen Gott; denn sie leben ihm alle.
20:38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.
20:39 Da antworteten etliche der Schriftgelehrten und sprachen: Meister, du hast recht gesagt.
20:39 Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, you have well said.
20:40 Und sie wagten ihn fürder nichts mehr zu fragen.
20:40 And after that they durst not ask him any question at all.
20:41 Er sprach aber zu ihnen: Wie sagen sie, Christus sei Davids Sohn?
20:41 And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son?
20:42 Und er selbst, David, spricht im Psalmbuch: "Der HERR hat gesagt zu meinem HERRN: Setze dich zu meiner Rechten,
20:42 And David himself says in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit you on my right hand,
20:43 bis daß ich lege deine Feinde zum Schemel deiner Füße."
20:43 Till I make yours enemies your footstool.
20:44 David nennt ihn einen HERRN; wie ist er denn sein Sohn?
20:44 David therefore calls him Lord, how is he then his son?
20:45 Da aber alles Volk zuhörte, sprach er zu seinen Jüngern:
20:45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,
20:46 Hütet euch vor den Schriftgelehrten, die da wollen einhertreten in langen Kleidern und lassen sich gerne grüßen auf dem Markte und sitzen gern obenan in den Schulen und über Tisch;
20:46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;
20:47 sie fressen der Witwen Häuser und wenden lange Gebete vor. Die werden desto schwerere Verdammnis empfangen.
20:47 Which devour widows' houses, and for a show make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

21:1 Er sah aber auf und schaute die Reichen, wie sie ihre Opfer einlegten in den Gotteskasten.
21:1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
21:2 Er sah aber auch eine arme Witwe, die legte zwei Scherflein ein.
21:2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
21:3 Und er sprach: Wahrlich ich sage euch: Diese arme Witwe hat mehr denn sie alle eingelegt.
21:3 And he said, Truthfully I say unto you, that this poor widow has cast in more than they all:
21:4 Denn diese alle haben aus ihrem Überfluß eingelegt zu dem Opfer Gottes; sie aber hat von ihrer Armut alle ihre Nahrung, die sie hatte, eingelegt.
21:4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her destitution has cast in all the living that she had.
21:5 Und da etliche sagten von dem Tempel, daß er geschmückt wäre mit feinen Steinen und Kleinoden, sprach er:
21:5 And as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,
21:6 Es wird die Zeit kommen, in welcher von dem allem, was ihr sehet, nicht ein Stein auf dem andern gelassen wird, der nicht zerbrochen werde.
21:6 As for these things which all of you behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
21:7 Sie fragten ihn aber und sprachen: Meister, wann soll das werden? und welches ist das Zeichen, wann das geschehen wird?
21:7 And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?
21:8 Er aber sprach: Sehet zu, lasset euch nicht verführen. Denn viele werden kommen in meinem Namen und sagen, ich sei es, und: "Die Zeit ist herbeigekommen." Folget ihnen nicht nach!
21:8 And he said, Take heed that all of you be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draws near: go all of you not therefore after them.
21:9 Wenn ihr aber hören werdet von Kriegen und Empörungen, so entsetzet euch nicht. Denn solches muß zuvor geschehen; aber das Ende ist noch nicht so bald da.
21:9 But when all of you shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.
21:10 Da sprach er zu ihnen: Ein Volk wird sich erheben wider das andere und ein Reich wider das andere,
21:10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
21:11 und es werden geschehen große Erdbeben hin und wieder, teure Zeit und Pestilenz; auch werden Schrecknisse und große Zeichen am Himmel geschehen.
21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
21:12 Aber vor diesem allem werden sie die Hände an euch legen und euch verfolgen und werden euch überantworten in ihre Schulen und Gefängnisse und vor Könige und Fürsten ziehen um meines Namens willen.
21:12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
21:13 Das wird euch aber widerfahren zu einem Zeugnis.
21:13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
21:14 So nehmet nun zu Herzen, daß ihr nicht sorget, wie ihr euch verantworten sollt.
21:14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what all of you shall answer:
21:15 Denn ich will euch Mund und Weisheit geben, welcher nicht sollen widersprechen können noch widerstehen alle eure Widersacher.
21:15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
21:16 Ihr werdet aber überantwortet werden von den Eltern, Brüdern, Gefreunden und Freunden; und sie werden euer etliche töten.
21:16 And all of you shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
21:17 Und ihr werdet gehaßt sein von jedermann um meines Namens willen.
21:17 And all of you shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
21:18 Und ein Haar von eurem Haupte soll nicht umkommen.
21:18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
21:19 Fasset eure Seelen mit Geduld.
21:19 In your patience possess all of you your souls.
21:20 Wenn ihr aber sehen werdet Jerusalem belagert mit einem Heer, so merket daß herbeigekommen ist seine Verwüstung. {~}
21:20 And when all of you shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21:21 Alsdann, wer in Judäa ist, der fliehe auf das Gebirge, und wer drinnen ist, der weiche heraus, und wer auf dem Lande ist, der komme nicht hinein.
21:21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter therein.
21:22 Denn das sind die Tage der Rache, daß erfüllet werde alles, was geschrieben ist.
21:22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
21:23 Weh aber den Schwangern und Säugerinnen in jenen Tagen! Denn es wird große Not auf Erden sein und ein Zorn über dies Volk,
21:23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
21:24 und sie werden fallen durch des Schwertes Schärfe und gefangen geführt werden unter alle Völker; und Jerusalem wird zertreten werden von den Heiden, bis daß der Heiden Zeit erfüllt wird.
21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
21:25 Und es werden Zeichen geschehen an Sonne und Mond und Sternen; und auf Erden wird den Leuten bange sein, und sie werden zagen, und das Meer und die Wassermengen werden brausen,
21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
21:26 und Menschen werden verschmachten vor Furcht und vor Warten der Dinge, die kommen sollen auf Erden; denn auch der Himmel Kräfte werden sich bewegen.
21:26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
21:27 Und alsdann werden sie sehen des Menschen Sohn kommen in der Wolke mit großer Kraft und Herrlichkeit.
21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
21:28 Wenn aber dieses anfängt zu geschehen, so sehet auf und erhebet eure Häupter, darum daß sich eure Erlösung naht.
21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws nigh.
21:29 Und er sagte ihnen ein Gleichnis: Sehet an den Feigenbaum und alle Bäume:
21:29 And he spoke to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
21:30 wenn sie jetzt ausschlagen, so sehet ihr's an ihnen und merket, daß jetzt der Sommer nahe ist.
21:30 When they now shoot forth, all of you see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
21:31 Also auch ihr: wenn ihr dies alles sehet angehen, so wisset, daß das Reich Gottes nahe ist.
21:31 So likewise all of you, when all of you see these things come to pass, know all of you that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
21:32 Wahrlich ich sage euch: Dies Geschlecht wird nicht vergehen, bis daß es alles geschehe.
21:32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
21:33 Himmel und Erde werden vergehen; aber meine Worte vergehen nicht.
21:33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words (o. logos) shall not pass away.
21:34 Hütet euch aber, daß eure Herzen nicht beschwert werden mit Fressen und Saufen und mit Sorgen der Nahrung und komme dieser Tag schnell über euch; {~}
21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with worldly excess, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unexpectedly.
21:35 denn wie ein Fallstrick wird er kommen über alle, die auf Erden wohnen.
21:35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
21:36 So seid nun wach allezeit und betet, daß ihr würdig werden möget, zu entfliehen diesem allem, das geschehen soll, und zu stehen vor des Menschen Sohn.
21:36 Watch all of you therefore, and pray always, that all of you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
21:37 Und er lehrte des Tages im Tempel; des Nachts aber ging er hinaus und blieb über Nacht am Ölberge.
21:37 And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.
21:38 Und alles Volk machte sich früh auf zu ihm, im Tempel ihn zu hören.

22:1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.
22:2 Und die Hohenpriester und Schriftgelehrten trachteten, wie sie ihn töteten; und fürchteten sich vor dem Volk.
22:2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
22:3 Es war aber der Satanas gefahren in den Judas, genannt Ischariot, der da war aus der Zahl der Zwölf.
22:3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
22:4 Und er ging hin und redete mit den Hohenpriestern und Hauptleuten, wie er ihn wollte ihnen überantworten.
22:4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.
22:5 Und sie wurden froh und gelobten ihm Geld zu geben.
22:5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
22:6 Und er versprach es und suchte Gelegenheit, daß er ihn überantwortete ohne Lärmen.
22:6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.
22:7 Es kam nun der Tag der süßen Brote, an welchem man mußte opfern das Osterlamm.
22:7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
22:8 Und er sandte Petrus und Johannes und sprach: Gehet hin, bereitet uns das Osterlamm, auf daß wir's essen.
22:8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.
22:9 Sie aber sprachen zu ihm: Wo willst du, daß wir's bereiten?
22:9 And they said unto him, Where will you that we prepare?
22:10 Er sprach zu ihnen: Siehe, wenn ihr hineinkommt in die Stadt, wird euch ein Mensch begegnen, der trägt einen Wasserkrug; folget ihm nach in das Haus, da er hineingeht,
22:10 And he said unto them, Behold, when all of you are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he enters in.
22:11 und saget zu dem Hausherrn: Der Meister läßt dir sagen: Wo ist die Herberge, darin ich das Osterlamm essen möge mit meinen Jüngern?
22:11 And all of you shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master says unto you, Where is the guest room, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
22:12 Und er wird euch einen großen Saal zeigen, der mit Polstern versehen ist; daselbst bereitet es.
22:12 And he shall show you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.
22:13 Sie gingen hin und fanden, wie er ihnen gesagt hatte, und bereiteten das Osterlamm.
22:13 And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
22:14 Und da die Stunde kam, setzte er sich nieder und die zwölf Apostel mit ihm.
22:14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.
22:15 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Mich hat herzlich verlangt, dies Osterlamm mit euch zu essen, ehe denn ich leide.
22:15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
22:16 Denn ich sage euch, daß ich hinfort nicht mehr davon essen werde, bis daß es erfüllet werde im Reich Gottes.
22:16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
22:17 Und er nahm den Kelch, dankte und sprach: Nehmet ihn und teilet ihn unter euch;
22:17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
22:18 denn ich sage euch: Ich werde nicht trinken von dem Gewächs des Weinstocks, bis das Reich Gottes komme.
22:18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
22:19 Und er nahm das Brot, dankte und brach's und gab's ihnen und sprach: Das ist mein Leib, der für euch gegeben wird; das tut zu meinem Gedächtnis.
22:19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
22:20 Desgleichen auch den Kelch, nach dem Abendmahl, und sprach: Das ist der Kelch, das neue Testament in meinem Blut, das für euch vergossen wird.
22:20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
22:21 Doch siehe, die Hand meines Verräters ist mit mir über Tische.
22:21 But, behold, the hand of him that betrays me is with me on the table.
22:22 Denn des Menschen Sohn geht zwar hin, wie es beschlossen ist; doch weh dem Menschen, durch welchen er verraten wird!
22:22 And truly the Son of man goes, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!
22:23 Und sie fingen an, zu fragen unter sich selbst, welcher es doch wäre unter ihnen, der das tun würde.
22:23 And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.
22:24 Es erhob sich auch ein Zank unter ihnen, welcher unter ihnen sollte für den Größten gehalten werden.
22:24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.
22:25 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Die weltlichen Könige herrschen, und die Gewaltigen heißt man gnädige Herren.
22:25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.
22:26 Ihr aber nicht also! Sondern der Größte unter euch soll sein wie der Jüngste, und der Vornehmste wie ein Diener.
22:26 But all of you shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that does serve.
22:27 Denn welcher ist größer: Der zu Tische sitzt oder der da dient? Ist's nicht also, daß der zu Tische sitzt! Ich aber bin unter euch wie ein Diener.
22:27 For whether is greater, he that sits at food, or he that serves? is not he that sits at food? but I am among you as he that serves.
22:28 Ihr aber seid's, die ihr beharrt habt bei mir in meinen Anfechtungen.
22:28 All of you are they which have continued with me in my temptations.
22:29 Und ich will euch das Reich bescheiden, wie mir's mein Vater beschieden hat,
22:29 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father has appointed unto me;
22:30 daß ihr essen und trinken sollt an meinem Tische in meinem Reich und sitzen auf Stühlen und richten die zwölf Geschlechter Israels.
22:30 That all of you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
22:31 Der HERR aber sprach: Simon, Simon, siehe, der Satanas hat euer begehrt, daß er euch möchte sichten wie den Weizen;
22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
22:32 ich aber habe für dich gebeten, daß dein Glaube nicht aufhöre. Und wenn du dermaleinst dich bekehrst, so stärke deine Brüder.
22:32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not: and when you are converted, strengthen your brethren.
22:33 Er sprach aber zu ihm: HERR, ich bin bereit, mit dir ins Gefängnis und in den Tod zu gehen.
22:33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with you, both into prison, and to death.
22:34 Er aber sprach: Petrus, ich sage dir: Der Hahn wird heute nicht krähen, ehe denn du dreimal verleugnet hast, daß du mich kennest.
22:34 And he said, I tell you, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that you shall three times deny that you know me.
22:35 Und er sprach zu ihnen: So oft ich euch ausgesandt habe ohne Beutel, ohne Tasche und ohne Schuhe, habt ihr auch je Mangel gehabt? Sie sprachen: Niemals.
22:35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and pouch, and shoes, lacked all of you any thing? And they said, Nothing.
22:36 Da sprach er zu ihnen: Aber nun, wer einen Beutel hat, der nehme ihn, desgleichen auch die Tasche; wer aber nichts hat, verkaufe sein Kleid und kaufe ein Schwert.
22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that has a purse, let him take it, and likewise his pouch: and he that has no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
22:37 Denn ich sage euch: Es muß noch das auch vollendet werden an mir, was geschrieben steht: "Er ist unter die Übeltäter gerechnet." Denn was von mir geschrieben ist, das hat ein Ende.
22:37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
22:38 Sie sprachen aber: HERR, siehe, hier sind zwei Schwerter. Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Es ist genug.
22:38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
22:39 Und er ging hinaus nach seiner Gewohnheit an den Ölberg. Es folgten ihm aber seine Jünger nach an den Ort.
22:39 And he came out, and went, as he was known, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.
22:40 Und als er dahin kam, sprach er zu ihnen: Betet, auf daß ihr nicht in Anfechtung fallet!
22:40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that all of you enter not into temptation.
22:41 Und er riß sich von ihnen einen Steinwurf weit und kniete nieder, betete
22:41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
22:42 und sprach: Vater, willst du, so nehme diesen Kelch von mir, doch nicht mein, sondern dein Wille geschehe!
22:42 Saying, Father, if you be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but yours, be done.
22:43 Es erschien ihm aber ein Engel vom Himmel und stärkte ihn.
22:43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
22:44 Und es kam, daß er mit dem Tode rang und betete heftiger. Es ward aber sein Schweiß wie Blutstropfen, die fielen auf die Erde.
22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
22:45 Und er stand auf von dem Gebet und kam zu seinen Jüngern und fand sie schlafen vor Traurigkeit
22:45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,
22:46 und sprach zu ihnen: Was schlafet ihr? Stehet auf und betet, auf das ihr nicht in Anfechtung fallet!
22:46 And said unto them, Why sleep all of you? rise and pray, lest all of you enter into temptation.
22:47 Da er aber noch redete, siehe, da kam die Schar; und einer von den Zwölfen, genannt Judas, ging vor ihnen her und nahte sich zu Jesu, ihn zu küssen.
22:47 And while he yet spoke, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.
22:48 Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Judas, verrätst du des Menschen Sohn mit einem Kuß?
22:48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betray you the Son of man with a kiss?
22:49 Da aber sahen, die um ihn waren, was da werden wollte, sprachen sie zu ihm: HERR, sollen wir mit dem Schwert drein schlagen?
22:49 When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we strike with the sword?
22:50 Und einer aus ihnen schlug des Hohenpriesters Knecht und hieb ihm sein rechtes Ohr ab.
22:50 And one of them stroke the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
22:51 Jesus aber antwortete und sprach: Lasset sie doch so machen! Und er rührte sein Ohr an und heilte ihn.
22:51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer all of you thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
22:52 Jesus aber sprach zu den Hohenpriestern und Hauptleuten des Tempels und den Ältesten, die über ihn gekommen waren: Ihr seid, wie zu einem Mörder, mit Schwertern und mit Stangen ausgegangen.
22:52 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be all of you come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?
22:53 Ich bin täglich bei euch im Tempel gewesen, und ihr habt keine Hand an mich gelegt; aber dies ist eure Stunde und die Macht der Finsternis.
22:53 When I was daily with you in the temple, all of you stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
22:54 Sie griffen ihn aber und führten ihn hin und brachten ihn in des Hohenpriesters Haus. Petrus aber folgte von ferne.
22:54 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed far off.
22:55 Da zündeten sie ein Feuer an mitten im Hof und setzten sich zusammen; und Petrus setzte sich unter sie.
22:55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.
22:56 Da sah ihn eine Magd sitzen bei dem Licht und sah genau auf ihn und sprach: Dieser war auch mit ihm.
22:56 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.
22:57 Er aber verleugnete ihn und sprach: Weib, ich kenne ihn nicht.
22:57 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.
22:58 Und über eine kleine Weile sah ihn ein anderer und sprach: Du bist auch deren einer. Petrus aber sprach: Mensch ich bin's nicht.
22:58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, You are also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.
22:59 Und über eine Weile, bei einer Stunde, bekräftigte es ein anderer und sprach: Wahrlich dieser war auch mit ihm; denn er ist ein Galiläer.
22:59 And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Truthfully this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean.
22:60 Petrus aber sprach: Mensch, ich weiß nicht, was du sagst. Und alsbald, als er noch redete, krähte der Hahn.
22:60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what you says. And immediately, while he yet spoke, the cock crew.
22:61 Und der HERR wandte sich um und sah Petrus an. Und Petrus gedachte an des HERRN Wort, wie er zu ihm gesagt hatte: Ehe denn der Hahn kräht, wirst du mich dreimal verleugnen.
22:61 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word (o. logos) of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, you shall deny me three times.
22:62 Und Petrus ging hinaus und weinte bitterlich.
22:62 And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.
22:63 Die Männer aber, die Jesum hielten, verspotteten ihn und schlugen ihn,
22:63 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and stroke him.
22:64 verdeckten ihn und schlugen ihn ins Angesicht und fragten ihn und sprachen: Weissage, wer ist's, der dich schlug?
22:64 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that stroke you?
22:65 Und viele andere Lästerungen sagten sie wider ihn.
22:65 And many other things blasphemously spoke they against him.
22:66 Und als es Tag ward, sammelten sich die Ältesten des Volks, die Hohenpriester und Schriftgelehrten und führten ihn hinauf vor ihren Rat
22:66 And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,
22:67 und sprachen: Bist du Christus, sage es uns! Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Sage ich's euch, so glaubt ihr's nicht;
22:67 Are you the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, all of you will not believe:
22:68 frage ich aber, so antwortet ihr nicht und laßt mich doch nicht los.
22:68 And if I also ask you, all of you will not answer me, nor let me go.
22:69 Darum von nun an wird des Menschen Sohn sitzen zur rechten Hand der Kraft Gottes.
22:69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.
22:70 Da sprachen sie alle: Bist du denn Gottes Sohn? Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Ihr sagt es, denn ich bin's.
22:70 Then said they all, Are you then the Son of God? And he said unto them, All of you say that I am.
22:71 Sie aber sprachen: Was bedürfen wir weiteres Zeugnis? Wir haben's selbst gehört aus seinem Munde.
22:71 And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

23:1 Und der ganze Haufe stand auf, und sie führten ihn vor Pilatus
23:1 And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.
23:2 und fingen an, ihn zu verklagen, und sprachen: Diesen finden wir, daß er das Volk abwendet und verbietet, den Schoß dem Kaiser zu geben, und spricht, er sei ein König. {~}
23:2 And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.
23:3 Pilatus aber fragte ihn und sprach: Bist du der Juden König? Er antwortete und sprach: Du sagst es.
23:3 And Pilate asked him, saying, Are you the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, You says it.
23:4 Pilatus sprach zu den Hohenpriestern und zum Volk: Ich finde keine Ursache an diesem Menschen.
23:4 Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.
23:5 Sie aber hielten an und sprachen: Er hat das Volk erregt damit, daß er gelehrt hat hin und her im ganzen jüdischen Lande und hat in Galiläa angefangen bis hierher.
23:5 And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.
23:6 Da aber Pilatus Galiläa hörte, fragte er, ob er aus Galiläa wäre.
23:6 When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean.
23:7 Und als er vernahm, daß er unter des Herodes Obrigkeit gehörte, übersandte er ihn zu Herodes, welcher in den Tagen auch zu Jerusalem war.
23:7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.
23:8 Da aber Herodes Jesum sah, ward er sehr froh; denn er hätte ihn längst gern gesehen, denn er hatte viel von ihm gehört, und hoffte, er würde ein Zeichen von ihm sehen. {~}
23:8 And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.
23:9 Und er fragte ihn mancherlei; er antwortete ihm aber nichts.
23:9 Then he questioned with him in many words; (o. logos) but he answered him nothing.
23:10 Die Hohenpriester aber und Schriftgelehrten standen und verklagten ihn hart.
23:10 And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.
23:11 Aber Herodes mit seinem Hofgesinde verachtete und verspottete ihn, legte ihm ein weißes Kleid an und sandte ihn wieder zu Pilatus.
23:11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nothing, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
23:12 Auf den Tag wurden Pilatus und Herodes Freunde miteinander; denn zuvor waren sie einander feind.
23:12 And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.
23:13 Pilatus aber rief die Hohenpriester und die Obersten und das Volk zusammen
23:13 And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
23:14 und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr habt diesen Menschen zu mir gebracht, als der das Volk abwende, und siehe, ich habe ihn vor euch verhört und finde an dem Menschen der Sache keine, deren ihr ihn beschuldiget;
23:14 Said unto them, All of you have brought this man unto me, as one that perverts the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man concerning those things whereof all of you accuse him:
23:15 Herodes auch nicht, denn ich habe euch zu ihm gesandt, und siehe, man hat nichts auf ihn gebracht, das des Todes wert sei.
23:15 No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
23:16 Darum will ich ihn züchtigen und loslassen.
23:16 I will therefore chastise him, and release him.
23:17 (Denn er mußte ihnen einen nach der Gewohnheit des Festes losgeben.)
23:17 (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)
23:18 Da schrie der ganze Haufe und sprach: Hinweg mit diesem und gib uns Barabbas los! {~}
23:18 And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
23:19 (welcher war um eines Aufruhrs, so in der Stadt geschehen war, und um eines Mordes willen ins Gefängnis geworfen.)
23:19 (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)
23:20 Da rief Pilatus abermals ihnen zu und wollte Jesum loslassen.
23:20 Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spoke again to them.
23:21 Sie riefen aber und sprachen: Kreuzige, kreuzige ihn!
23:21 But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.
23:22 Er aber sprach zum drittenmal zu ihnen: Was hat denn dieser Übles getan? Ich finde keine Ursache des Todes an ihm; darum will ich ihn züchtigen und loslassen.
23:22 And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil has he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.
23:23 Aber sie lagen ihm an mit großem Geschrei und forderten, daß er gekreuzigt würde. Und ihr und der Hohenpriester Geschrei nahm überhand.
23:23 And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.
23:24 Pilatus aber urteilte, daß ihr Bitte geschähe,
23:24 And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.
23:25 und ließ den los, der um Aufruhrs und Mordes willen war ins Gefängnis geworfen, um welchen sie baten; aber Jesum übergab er ihrem Willen.
23:25 And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
23:26 Und als sie ihn hinführten, ergriffen sie einen, Simon von Kyrene, der kam vom Felde, und legten das Kreuz auf ihn, daß er's Jesu nachtrüge.
23:26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.
23:27 Es folgte ihm aber nach ein großer Haufe Volks und Weiber, die beklagten und beweinten ihn.
23:27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.
23:28 Jesus aber wandte sich um zu ihnen und sprach: Ihr Töchter von Jerusalem, weinet nicht über mich, sondern weinet über euch selbst und über eure Kinder.
23:28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
23:29 Denn siehe, es wird die Zeit kommen, in welcher man sagen wird: Selig sind die Unfruchtbaren und die Leiber, die nicht geboren haben, und die Brüste, die nicht gesäugt haben!
23:29 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the breast which never gave suck.
23:30 Dann werden sie anfangen, zu sagen zu den Bergen: Fallet über uns! und zu den Hügeln: Decket uns!
23:30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
23:31 Denn so man das tut am grünen Holz, was will am dürren werden?
23:31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
23:32 Es wurden aber auch hingeführt zwei andere, Übeltäter, daß sie mit ihm abgetan würden.
23:32 And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.
23:33 Und als sie kamen an die Stätte, die da heißt Schädelstätte, kreuzigten sie ihn daselbst und die Übeltäter mit ihm, einen zur Rechten und einen zur Linken.
23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
23:34 Jesus aber sprach: Vater, vergib ihnen sie wissen nicht, was sie tun! Und sie teilten seine Kleider und warfen das Los darum.
23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
23:35 Und das Volk stand und sah zu. Und die Obersten samt ihnen spotteten sein und sprachen: Er hat anderen geholfen; er helfe sich selber, ist er Christus, der Auserwählte Gottes.
23:35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
23:36 Es verspotteten ihn auch die Kriegsknechte, traten zu ihm und brachten ihm Essig
23:36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
23:37 und sprachen: Bist du der Juden König, so helf dir selber!
23:37 And saying, If you be the king of the Jews, save yourself.
23:38 Es war aber auch oben über ihm geschrieben die Überschrift mit griechischen und lateinische und hebräischen Buchstaben: Dies ist der Juden König.
23:38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
23:39 Aber der Übeltäter einer, die da gehenkt waren, lästerte ihn und sprach: Bist du Christus, so hilf dir selber und uns!
23:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If you be Christ, save yourself and us.
23:40 Da antwortete der andere, strafte ihn und sprach: Und du fürchtest dich auch nicht vor Gott, der du doch in gleicher Verdammnis bist?
23:40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Do not you fear God, seeing you are in the same condemnation?
23:41 Und wir zwar sind billig darin, denn wir empfangen, was unsere Taten wert sind; dieser aber hat nichts Ungeschicktes getan.
23:41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man has done nothing amiss.
23:42 Und er sprach zu Jesu: HERR, gedenke an mich, wenn du in dein Reich kommst!
23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.
23:43 Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: Wahrlich ich sage dir: Heute wirst du mit mir im Paradiese sein.
23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto you, To day shall you be with me in paradise.
23:44 Und es war um die sechste Stunde, und es ward eine Finsternis über das ganze Land bis an die neunte Stunde,
23:44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
23:45 und die Sonne verlor ihren Schein, und der Vorhang des Tempels zerriß mitten entzwei.
23:45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
23:46 Und Jesus rief laut und sprach: Vater, ich befehle meinen Geist in deine Hände! Und als er das gesagt, verschied er.
23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into your hands I commend my spirit: (o. pneuma) and having said thus, he gave up the spirit.
23:47 Da aber der Hauptmann sah, was da geschah, pries er Gott und sprach: Fürwahr, dieser ist ein frommer Mensch gewesen!
23:47 Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
23:48 Und alles Volk, das dabei war und zusah, da sie sahen, was da geschah, schlugen sich an ihre Brust und wandten wieder um.
23:48 And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, stroke their breasts, and returned.
23:49 Es standen aber alle seine Bekannten von ferne und die Weiber, die ihm aus Galiläa waren nachgefolgt, und sahen das alles.
23:49 And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood far off, beholding these things.
23:50 Und siehe, ein Mann mit Namen Joseph, ein Ratsherr, der war ein guter, frommer Mann
23:50 And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
23:51 und hatte nicht gewilligt in ihren Rat und Handel. Er war von Arimathia, der Stadt der Juden, einer, der auch auf das Reich Gottes wartete.
23:51 (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
23:52 Der ging zu Pilatus und bat um den Leib Jesu;
23:52 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
23:53 und nahm ihn ab, wickelte ihn in Leinwand und legte ihn in ein gehauenes Grab, darin niemand je gelegen hatte.
23:53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
23:54 Und es war der Rüsttag, und der Sabbat brach an.
23:54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
23:55 Es folgten aber die Weiber nach, die mit ihm gekommen waren aus Galiläa, und beschauten das Grab und wie sein Leib gelegt ward.
23:55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the tomb, and how his body was laid.
23:56 Sie kehrten aber um und bereiteten Spezerei und Salben. Und den Sabbat über waren sie still nach dem Gesetz.
23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

24:1 Aber am ersten Tage der Woche sehr früh kamen sie zum Grabe und trugen die Spezerei, die sie bereitet hatten, und etliche mit ihnen.
24:1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
24:2 Sie fanden aber den Stein abgewälzt von dem Grabe
24:2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.
24:3 und gingen hinein und fanden den Leib des HERRN Jesu nicht.
24:3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
24:4 Und da sie darum bekümmert waren, siehe, da traten zu ihnen zwei Männer mit glänzenden Kleidern.
24:4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
24:5 Und sie erschraken und schlugen ihre Angesichter nieder zur Erde. Da sprachen die zu ihnen: Was suchet ihr den Lebendigen bei den Toten?
24:5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek all of you the living among the dead?
24:6 Er ist nicht hier; er ist auferstanden. Gedenket daran, wie er euch sagte, da er noch in Galiläa war
24:6 He is not here, but has risen: remember how he spoke unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
24:7 und sprach: Des Menschen Sohn muß überantwortet werden in die Hände der Sünder und gekreuzigt werden und am dritten Tage auferstehen.
24:7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
24:8 Und sie gedachten an seine Worte.
24:8 And they remembered his words, (o. rhema)
24:9 Und sie gingen wieder vom Grabe und verkündigten das alles den Elfen und den andern allen.
24:9 And returned from the tomb, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.
24:10 Es war aber Maria Magdalena und Johanna und Maria, des Jakobus Mutter, und andere mit ihnen, die solches den Aposteln sagten.
24:10 It was Mary Magdalene and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.
24:11 Und es deuchten sie ihre Worte eben, als wären's Märlein, und sie glaubten ihnen nicht.
24:11 And their words (o. rhema) seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.
24:12 Petrus aber stand auf und lief zum Grabe und bückte sich hinein und sah die leinenen Tücher allein liegen; und ging davon, und es nahm ihn wunder, wie es zuginge.
24:12 Then arose Peter, and ran unto the tomb; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.
24:13 Und siehe, zwei aus ihnen gingen an demselben Tage in einen Flecken, der war von Jerusalem sechzig Feld Wegs weit; des Name heißt Emmaus.
24:13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
24:14 Und sie redeten miteinander von allen diesen Geschichten.
24:14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
24:15 Und es geschah, da sie so redeten und befragten sich miteinander, nahte sich Jesus zu ihnen und wandelte mit ihnen.
24:15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.
24:16 Aber ihre Augen wurden gehalten, daß sie ihn nicht kannten.
24:16 But their eyes were held that they should not know him.
24:17 Er sprach aber zu ihnen: Was sind das für Reden, die ihr zwischen euch handelt unterwegs, und seid traurig?
24:17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications (o. logos) are these that all of you have one to another, as all of you walk, and are sad?
24:18 Da antwortete einer mit Namen Kleophas und sprach zu ihm: Bist du allein unter den Fremdlingen zu Jerusalem, der nicht wisse, was in diesen Tagen darin geschehen ist?
24:18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Are you only a stranger in Jerusalem, and have not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?
24:19 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Welches? Sie aber sprachen zu ihm: Das von Jesus von Nazareth, welcher war ein Prophet mächtig von Taten und Worten vor Gott und allem Volk;
24:19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word (o. logos) before God and all the people:
24:20 wie ihn unsre Hohenpriester und Obersten überantwortet haben zur Verdammnis des Todes und gekreuzigt.
24:20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.
24:21 Wir aber hofften, er sollte Israel erlösen. Und über das alles ist heute der dritte Tag, daß solches geschehen ist. {~} {~}
24:21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.
24:22 Auch haben uns erschreckt etliche Weiber der Unsern; die sind früh bei dem Grabe gewesen,
24:22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the tomb;
24:23 haben seinen Leib nicht gefunden, kommen und sagen, sie haben ein Gesicht der Engel gesehen, welche sagen, er lebe.
24:23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.
24:24 Und etliche unter uns gingen hin zum Grabe und fanden's also, wie die Weiber sagten; aber ihn sahen sie nicht.
24:24 And certain of them which were with us went to the tomb, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.
24:25 Und er sprach zu ihnen: O ihr Toren und träges Herzens, zu glauben alle dem, was die Propheten geredet haben!
24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
24:26 Mußte nicht Christus solches leiden und zu seiner Herrlichkeit eingehen?
24:26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
24:27 Und fing an von Mose und allen Propheten und legte ihnen alle Schriften aus, die von ihm gesagt waren.
24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
24:28 Und sie kamen nahe zum Flecken, da sie hineingingen; und er stellte sich, als wollte er weiter gehen.
24:28 And they drew nigh unto the village, where they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.
24:29 Und sie nötigten ihn und sprachen: Bleibe bei uns; denn es will Abend werden, und der Tag hat sich geneigt. Und er ging hinein, bei ihnen zu bleiben.
24:29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.
24:30 Und es geschah, da er mit ihnen zu Tische saß, nahm er das Brot, dankte, brach's und gab's ihnen.
24:30 And it came to pass, as he sat at food with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
24:31 Da wurden ihre Augen geöffnet, und sie erkannten ihn. Und er verschwand vor ihnen.
24:31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
24:32 Und sie sprachen untereinander: Brannte nicht unser Herz in uns, da er mit uns redete auf dem Wege, als er uns die Schrift öffnete?
24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
24:33 Und sie standen auf zu derselben Stunde, kehrten wieder gen Jerusalem und fanden die Elf versammelt und die bei ihnen waren,
24:33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,
24:34 welche sprachen: Der HERR ist wahrhaftig auferstanden und Simon erschienen.
24:34 Saying, The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon.
24:35 Und sie erzählten ihnen, was auf dem Wege geschehen war und wie er von ihnen erkannt wäre an dem, da er das Brot brach.
24:35 And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.
24:36 Da sie aber davon redeten, trat er selbst, Jesus, mitten unter sie und sprach: Friede sei mit euch!
24:36 And as they thus spoke, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and says unto them, Peace be unto you.
24:37 Sie erschraken aber und fürchteten sich, meinten, sie sähen einen Geist.
24:37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. (o. pneuma)
24:38 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Was seid ihr so erschrocken, und warum kommen solche Gedanken in euer Herz?
24:38 And he said unto them, Why are all of you troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
24:39 Sehet meine Hände und meine Füße: ich bin's selber. Fühlet mich an und sehet; denn ein Geist hat nicht Fleisch und Bein, wie ihr sehet, daß ich habe.
24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit (o. pneuma) has not flesh and bones, as all of you see me have.
24:40 Und da er das sagte, zeigte er ihnen Hände und Füße.
24:40 And when he had thus spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet.
24:41 Da sie aber noch nicht glaubten, vor Freuden und sich verwunderten, sprach er zu ihnen: Habt ihr etwas zu essen?
24:41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have all of you here any food?
24:42 Und sie legten ihm vor ein Stück von gebratenem Fisch und Honigseim.
24:42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
24:43 Und er nahm's und aß vor ihnen.
24:43 And he took it, and did eat before them.
24:44 Er sprach aber zu ihnen: Das sind die Reden, die ich zu euch sagte, da ich noch bei euch war; denn es muß alles erfüllet werden, was von mir geschrieben ist im Gesetz Mose's, in den Propheten und in den Psalmen.
24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words (o. logos) which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
24:45 Da öffnete er ihnen das Verständnis, daß sie die Schrift verstanden,
24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
24:46 und er sprach zu ihnen: Also ist's geschrieben, und also mußte Christus leiden und auferstehen von den Toten am dritten Tage
24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it was essential for Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
24:47 und predigen lassen in seinem Namen Buße und Vergebung der Sünden unter allen Völkern und anheben zu Jerusalem.
24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
24:48 Ihr aber seid des alles Zeugen.
24:48 And all of you are witnesses of these things.
24:49 Und siehe, ich will auf euch senden die Verheißung meines Vaters. Ihr aber sollt in der Stadt Jerusalem bleiben, bis ihr angetan werdet mit der Kraft aus der Höhe.
24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry all of you in the city of Jerusalem, until all of you be imbued with power from on high.
24:50 Er führte sie aber hinaus bis gen Bethanien und hob die Hände auf und segnete sie.
24:50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
24:51 Und es geschah, da er sie segnete, schied er von ihnen und fuhr auf gen Himmel.
24:51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
24:52 Sie aber beteten ihn an und kehrten wieder gen Jerusalem mit großer Freude
24:52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
24:53 und waren allewege im Tempel, priesen und lobten Gott. {~}
24:53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
