11:1 Jephthah, ein Gileaditer, war ein streibarer Held, aber ein Hurenkind. Gilead aber hatte Jephthah gezeugt.
11:1 Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valour, and he was the son of an harlot: and Gilead brings forth Jephthah.
11:2 Da aber das Weib Gileads ihm Kinder gebar und des Weibes Kinder groß wurden, stießen sie Jephthah aus und sprachen zu ihm: Du sollst nicht erben in unsers Vaters Haus; denn du bist eines andern Weibes Sohn.
11:2 And Gilead's wife bare him sons; and his wife's sons grew up, and they thrust out Jephthah, and said unto him, You shall not inherit in our father's house; for you are the son of a strange woman.
11:3 Da floh er vor seinen Brüdern und wohnte im Lande Tob. Und es sammelten sich zu ihm lose Leute und zogen aus mit ihm. {~}
11:3 Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him.
11:4 Und über etliche Zeit hernach stritten die Kinder Ammon mit Israel.
11:4 And it came to pass in process of time, that the children of Ammon made war against Israel.
11:5 Da nun die Kinder Ammon also stritten mit Israel, gingen die Ältesten von Gilead hin, daß sie Jephthah holten aus dem Lande Tob,
11:5 And it was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to fetch Jephthah out of the land of Tob:
11:6 und sprachen zu ihm: Komm und sei unser Hauptmann, daß wir streiten wider die Kinder Ammon.
11:6 And they said unto Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.
11:7 Aber Jephthah sprach zu den Ältesten von Gilead: Seid ihr es nicht, die mich hassen und aus meines Vaters Haus gestoßen haben? Und nun kommt ihr zu mir, weil ihr in Trübsal seid?
11:7 And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, Did not all of you hate me, and expel me out of my father's house? and why are all of you come unto me now when all of you are in distress?
11:8 Die Ältesten von Gilead sprachen zu Jephthah: Darum kommen wir nun wieder zu dir, daß du mit uns ziehst und hilfst uns streiten wider die Kinder Ammon und seist unser Haupt über alle, die in Gilead wohnen.
11:8 And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, Therefore we return to you now, that you may go with us, and fight against the children of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
11:9 Jephthah sprach zu den Ältesten von Gilead: So ihr mich wieder holet, zu streiten wider die Kinder Ammon, und der HERR sie vor mir dahingeben wird, soll ich dann euer Haupt sein?
11:9 And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, If all of you bring me home again to fight against the children of Ammon, and the LORD deliver them before me, shall I be your head?
11:10 Die Ältesten von Gilead sprachen zu Jephthah: Der HERR sei Zuhörer zwischen uns, wo wir nicht tun, wie du gesagt hast.
11:10 And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, The LORD be witness between us, if we do not so according to your words.
11:11 Also ging Jephthah mit den Ältesten von Gilead; und das Volk setzte ihn zum Haupt und Obersten über sich. Und Jephthah redete solches alles vor dem HERRN zu Mizpa.
11:11 Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah uttered all his words before the LORD in Mizpeh.
11:12 Da sandte Jephthah Botschaft zum König der Kinder Ammon und ließ ihm sagen: Was hast du mit mir zu schaffen, daß du kommst zu mir, wider mein Land zu streiten?
11:12 And Jephthah sent messengers unto the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What have you to do with me, that you are come against me to fight in my land?
11:13 Der König der Kinder Ammon antwortete den Boten Jephthahs: Darum daß Israel mein Land genommen hat, da sie aus Ägypten zogen, vom Arnon an bis an den Jabbok und wieder bis zum Jordan; so gib mir's nun wieder mit Frieden.
11:13 And the king of the children of Ammon answered unto the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came up out of Egypt, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and unto Jordan: now therefore restore those lands again peaceably.
11:14 Jephthah aber sandte noch mehr Boten zum König der Kinder Ammon,
11:14 And Jephthah sent messengers again unto the king of the children of Ammon:
11:15 die sprachen zu ihm: So spricht Jephthah: Israel hat kein Land genommen, weder den Moabitern noch den Kindern Ammon.
11:15 And said unto him, Thus says Jephthah, Israel took not away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon:
11:16 Denn da sie aus Ägypten zogen, wandelte Israel durch die Wüste bis ans Schilfmeer und kam gen Kades
11:16 But when Israel came up from Egypt, and walked through the wilderness unto the Red sea, and came to Kadesh;
11:17 und sandte Boten zum König der Edomiter und sprach: Laß mich durch dein Land ziehen. Aber der Edomiter König erhörte sie nicht. Auch sandten sie zum König der Moabiter; der wollte auch nicht. Also blieb Israel in Kades
11:17 Then Israel sent messengers unto the king of Edom, saying, Let me, I pray you, pass through your land: but the king of Edom would not hearken thereto. And in like manner they sent unto the king of Moab: but he would not consent: and Israel abode in Kadesh.
11:18 und wandelte in der Wüste. Und sie umzogen das Land der Edomiter und Moabiter und kamen von der Sonne Aufgang an der Moabiter Land und lagerten sich jenseit des Arnon und kamen nicht in die Grenze der Moabiter; denn der Arnon ist der Moabiter Grenze.
11:18 Then they went along through the wilderness, and compassed the land of Edom, and the land of Moab, and came by the east side of the land of Moab, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, but came not within the border of Moab: for Arnon was the border of Moab.
11:19 Und Israel sandte Boten zu Sihon, dem König der Amoriter zu Hesbon, und ließ ihm sagen: Laß uns durch dein Land ziehen bis an meinen Ort.
11:19 And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said unto him, Let us pass, we pray you, through your land into my place.
11:20 Aber Sihon vertraute Israel nicht, durch sein Gebiet zu ziehen, sondern versammelte all sein Volk und lagerte sich zu Jahza und stritt mit Israel.
11:20 But Sihon trusted not Israel to pass through his coast: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and pitched in Jahaz, and fought against Israel.
11:21 Der HERR aber, der Gott Israels, gab den Sihon mit all seinem Volk in die Hände Israels, daß sie sie schlugen. Also nahm Israel ein alles Land der Amoriter, die in demselben Lande wohnten.
11:21 And the LORD God of Israel delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they stroke them: so Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that country.
11:22 Und sie nahmen alles Gebiet der Amoriter ein vom Arnon an bis an den Jabbok und von der Wüste an bis an den Jordan.
11:22 And they possessed all the coasts of the Amorites, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and from the wilderness even unto Jordan.
11:23 So hat nun der HERR, der Gott Israels, die Amoriter vertrieben vor seinem Volk Israel; und du willst ihr Land einnehmen?
11:23 So now the LORD God of Israel has dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel, and should you possess it?
11:24 Du solltest deren Land einnehmen, die dein Gott Kamos vertriebe, und uns lassen einnehmen das Land aller, die der HERR, unser Gott, vor uns vertrieben hat.
11:24 Will not you possess that which Chemosh your god gives you to possess? So whomsoever the LORD our God shall drive out from before us, them will we possess.
11:25 Meinst du, daß du besser recht habest denn Balak, der Sohn Zippors, der Moabiter König? Hat derselbe auch je gerechtet 518heeft oder gestritten wider Israel?
11:25 And now are you any thing better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab? did he ever strive against Israel, or did he ever fight against them,
11:26 Dieweil nun Israel dreihundert Jahre gewohnt hat in Hesbon und in Aroer und ihren Ortschaften und allen Städten, die am Arnon liegen, warum errettetet ihr's nicht in dieser Zeit?
11:26 While Israel dwelt in Heshbon and her towns, and in Aroer and her towns, and in all the cities that be along by the coasts of Arnon, three hundred years? why therefore did all of you not recover them within that time?
11:27 Ich habe nichts an dir gesündigt, und du tust so übel an mir, daß du wider mich streitest. Der HERR, der da Richter ist, richte heute zwischen Israel und den Kindern Ammon.
11:27 Wherefore I have not sinned against you, but you do me wrong to war against me: the LORD the Judge be judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.
11:28 Aber der König der Kinder Ammon erhörte die Rede Jephthahs nicht, die er zu ihm sandte.
11:28 Nevertheless the king of the children of Ammon hearkened not unto the words of Jephthah which he sent him.
11:29 Da kam der Geist des HERRN auf Jephthah, und er zog durch Gilead und Manasse und durch Mizpe, das in Gilead liegt, und von Mizpe, das in Gilead liegt auf die Kinder Ammon.
11:29 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon.
11:30 Und Jephthah gelobte dem HERRN ein Gelübde und sprach: Gibst du die Kinder Ammon in meine Hand:
11:30 And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If you shall without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands,
11:31 was zu meiner Haustür heraus mir entgegengeht, wenn ich mit Frieden wiederkomme von den Kindern Ammon, das soll des HERRN sein, und ich will's zum Brandopfer opfern.
11:31 Then it shall be, that whatsoever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD's, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.
11:32 Also zog Jephthah auf die Kinder Ammon, wider sie zu streiten. Und der HERR gab sie in seine Hände.
11:32 So Jephthah passed over unto the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands.
11:33 Und er schlug sie von Aroer an, bis wo man kommt gen Minnith, zwanzig Städte, und bis an den Plan der Weinberge, eine sehr große Schlacht. Und wurden also die Kinder Ammon gedemütigt vor den Kindern Israel.
11:33 And he stroke them from Aroer, even till you come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.
11:34 Da nun Jephthah kam gen Mizpa zu seinem Hause, siehe, da geht seine Tochter heraus ihm entgegen mit Pauken und Reigen; und sie war sein einziges Kind, und er hatte sonst keinen Sohn noch Tochter.
11:34 And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter.
11:35 Und da er sie sah, zerriß er seine Kleider und sprach: Ach, meine Tochter, wie beugst du mich und betrübst mich! Denn ich habe meinen Mund aufgetan gegen den HERRN und kann's nicht widerrufen. {~}
11:35 And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! you have brought me very low, and you are one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back.
11:36 Sie aber sprach: Mein Vater, hast du deinen Mund aufgetan gegen den HERRN, so tue mir, wie es aus deinem Mund gegangen ist, nachdem der HERR dich gerächt hat an deinen Feinden, den Kindern Ammon. {~}
11:36 And she said unto him, My father, if you have opened your mouth unto the LORD, do to me according to that which has proceeded out of your mouth; forasmuch as the LORD has taken vengeance for you of yours enemies, even of the children of Ammon.
11:37 Und sie sprach zu ihrem Vater: Du wollest mir das tun, daß du mir lassest zwei Monate, daß ich von hinnen hinabgehe auf die Berge und meine Jungfrauschaft beweine mit meinen Gespielen.
11:37 And she said unto her father, Let this thing be done for me: let me alone two months, that I may go up and down upon the mountains, and mourn for my virginity, I and my fellows.
11:38 Er sprach: Gehe hin! und ließ sie zwei Monate gehen. Da ging sie hin mit ihren Gespielen und beweinte ihre Jungfrauschaft auf den Bergen.
11:38 And he said, Go. And he sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and bewailed her virginity upon the mountains.
11:39 Und nach zwei Monaten kam sie wieder zu ihrem Vater. Und er tat ihr, wie er gelobt hatte; und sie war nie eines Mannes schuldig geworden. Und es ward eine Gewohnheit in Israel,
11:39 And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed: and she knew no man. And it was a custom in Israel,
11:40 daß die Töchter Israel jährlich hingehen, zu klagen um die Tochter Jephthahs, des Gileaditers, des Jahres vier Tage.
11:40 That the daughters of Israel went yearly to lament the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in a year.

12:1 Und die von Ephraim kamen zuhauf und gingen mitternachtwärts und sprachen zu Jephthah: Warum bist du in den Streit gezogen wider die Kinder Ammon und hast uns nicht gerufen, daß wir mit dir zögen? Wir wollen dein Haus samt dir mit Feuer verbrennen.
12:1 And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passed you over to fight against the children of Ammon, and did not call us to go with you? we will burn yours house upon you with fire.
12:2 Jephthah sprach zu ihnen: ich und mein Volk hatten eine große Sache mit den Kindern Ammon, und ich schrie euch an, aber ihr halft mir nicht aus ihren Händen.
12:2 And Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, all of you delivered me not out of their hands.
12:3 Da ich nun sah, daß ihr nicht helfen wolltet, stellte ich meine Seele in meine Hand und zog hin wider die Kinder Ammon, und der HERR gab sie in meine Hand. Warum kommt ihr nun zu mir herauf, wider mich zu streiten?
12:3 And when I saw that all of you delivered me not, I put my life in my hands, and passed opposite to the children of Ammon, and the LORD delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are all of you come up unto me this day, to fight against me?
12:4 Und Jephthah sammelte alle Männer in Gilead und stritt wider Ephraim. Und die Männer in Gilead schlugen Ephraim, darum daß sie sagten: Seid doch ihr Gileaditer unter Ephraim und Manasse als die Flüchtigen Ephraims.
12:4 Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead stroke Ephraim, because they said, All of you Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.
12:5 Und die Gileaditer nahmen ein die Furten des Jordans vor Ephraim. Wenn nun die Flüchtigen Ephraims sprachen: Laß mich hinübergehen! so sprachen die Männer von Gilead zu Ihm: Bist du ein Ephraimiter? Wenn er dann antwortete: Nein!
12:5 And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when those Ephraimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said unto him, Are you an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;
12:6 hießen sie ihn sprechen: Schiboleth; so sprach er Siboleth und konnte es nicht recht reden; alsdann griffen sie ihn schlugen ihn an den Furten des Jordans, daß zu der Zeit von Ephraim fielen zweiundvierzigtausend.
12:6 Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.
12:7 Jephthah aber richtete Israel sechs Jahre. Und Jephthah, der Gileaditer, starb und ward begraben in den Städten zu Gilead.
12:7 And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.
12:8 Nach diesem richtete Israel Ebzan von Bethlehem.
12:8 And after him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel.
12:9 Der hatte dreißig Söhne, und dreißig Töchter gab er hinaus, und dreißig Töchter nahm er von außen seinen Söhnen; er richtete Israel sieben Jahre
12:9 And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent abroad, and took in thirty daughters from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.
12:10 und starb und ward begraben zu Bethlehem. {~}
12:10 Then died Ibzan, and was buried at Bethlehem.
12:11 Nach diesem richtete Israel Elon, ein Sebuloniter; er richtete Israel zehn Jahre
12:11 And after him Elon, a Zebulonite, judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.
12:12 und starb und ward begraben zu Ajalon im Lande Sebulon.
12:12 And Elon the Zebulonite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the country of Zebulun.
12:13 Nach diesem richtete Israel Abdon, ein Sohn Hillels, ein Pirathoniter.
12:13 And after him Abdon the son of Hillel, a Pirathonite, judged Israel.
12:14 der hatte vierzig Söhne und dreißig Enkel, die auf siebzig Eselsfüllen ritten; er richtete Israel acht Jahre
12:14 And he had forty sons and thirty nephews, that rode on threescore and ten ass colts: and he judged Israel eight years.
12:15 und starb und ward begraben zu Pirathon im Lande Ephraim auf dem Gebirge der Amalekiter. {~} {~} {~} {~}
12:15 And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the mount of the Amalekites.

13:1 Und die Kinder Israel taten fürder übel vor dem HERRN; und der HERR gab sie in die Hände der Philister vierzig Jahre.
13:1 And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.
13:2 Es war aber ein Mann zu Zora von einem Geschlecht der Daniter, mit Namen Manoah; und sein Weib war unfruchtbar und gebar nicht.
13:2 And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bare not.
13:3 Und der Engel des HERRN erschien dem Weibe und sprach zu ihr: Siehe, du bist unfruchtbar und gebierst nicht; aber du wirst schwanger werden und einen Sohn gebären.
13:3 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, you are barren, and bear not: but you shall conceive, and bear a son.
13:4 So hüte dich nun, daß du nicht Wein noch starkes Getränk trinkst und nichts Unreines essest; {~}
13:4 Now therefore beware, I pray you, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing:
13:5 Denn du wirst schwanger werden und einen Sohn gebären, dem kein Schermesser soll aufs Haupt kommen. Denn der Knabe wird ein Geweihter Gottes sein von Mutterleibe an; und er wird anfangen, Israel zu erlösen aus der Philister Hand. {~}
13:5 For, lo, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.
13:6 Da kam das Weib und sagte es ihrem Mann an und sprach: Es kam ein Mann Gottes zu mir, und seine Gestalt war anzusehen wie ein Engel Gottes, gar erschrecklich, daß ich ihn nicht fragte, woher oder wohin; und er sagte mir nicht, wie er hieße.
13:6 Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name:
13:7 Er sprach aber zu mir: Siehe, du wirst schwanger werden und einen Sohn gebären. So trinke nun keinen Wein noch starkes Getränk und iß nichts Unreines; denn der Knabe soll ein Geweihter Gottes sein von Mutterleibe an bis an seinen Tod.
13:7 But he said unto me, Behold, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death.
13:8 Da bat Manoah den HERRN und sprach: Ach HERR, laß den Mann Gottes wieder zu uns kommen, den du gesandt hast, daß er uns lehre, was wir mit dem Knaben tun sollen, der geboren soll werden.
13:8 Then Manoah implored the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which you did send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.
13:9 Und Gott erhörte die Stimme Manoahs; und der Engel Gottes kam wieder zum Weibe. Sie saß aber auf dem Felde, und ihr Mann Manoah war nicht bei ihr.
13:9 And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her.
13:10 Da lief sie eilend und sagte es ihrem Mann an und sprach zu ihm: Siehe, der Mann ist mir erschienen, der jenes Tages zu mir kam.
13:10 And the woman made haste, and ran, and showed her husband, and said unto him, Behold, the man has appeared unto me, that came unto me the other day.
13:11 Manoah machte sich auf und ging seinem Weibe nach und kam zu dem Mann und sprach zu ihm: Bist du der Mann, der mit dem Weibe geredet hat? Er sprach: Ja.
13:11 And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said unto him, Are you the man that spoke unto the woman? And he said, I am.
13:12 Und Manoah sprach: Wenn nun kommen wird, was du geredet hast, welches soll des Knaben Weise und Werk sein?
13:12 And Manoah said, Now let your words come to pass. How shall we order the child, and how shall we do unto him?
13:13 Der Engel des HERRN sprach zu Manoah: Vor allem, was ich dem Weibe gesagt habe, soll sie sich hüten.
13:13 And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware.
13:14 Sie soll nicht essen was aus dem Weinstock kommt, und soll keinen Wein noch starkes Getränk trinken und nichts Unreines essen; alles, was ich ihr geboten habe, soll sie halten. {~} {~}
13:14 She may not eat of any thing that comes of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: all that I commanded her let her observe.
13:15 Manoah sprach zu dem Engel des HERRN: Laß dich doch halten; wir wollen dir ein Ziegenböcklein zurichten.
13:15 And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, I pray you, let us detain you, until we shall have made ready a kid for you.
13:16 Aber der Engel des HERRN antwortete Manoah: Wenn du gleich mich hier hältst, so esse ich doch von deiner Speise nicht. Willst du aber dem HERRN ein Brandopfer tun, so magst du es opfern. Denn Manoah wußte nicht, daß es der Engel des HERRN war.
13:16 And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Though you detain me, I will not eat of your bread: and if you will offer a burnt offering, you must offer it unto the LORD. For Manoah knew not that he was an angel of the LORD.
13:17 Und Manoah sprach zum Engel des HERRN: Wie heißest du? daß wir dich preisen, wenn nun kommt, was du geredet hast.
13:17 And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What is your name, that when your sayings come to pass we may do you honour?
13:18 Aber der Engel des HERRN sprach zu ihm: Warum fragst du nach meinem Namen, der doch wundersam ist?
13:18 And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why ask you thus after my name, seeing it is secret?
13:19 Da nahm Manoah ein Ziegenböcklein und Speisopfer und opferte es auf einem Fels dem HERRN. Und Er tat Wunderbares-Manoah aber und sein Weib sahen zu;
13:19 So Manoah took a kid with a food offering, and offered it upon a rock unto the LORD: and the angel did wondrously; and Manoah and his wife looked on.
13:20 denn da die Lohe auffuhr vom Altar gen Himmel, fuhr der Engel des HERRN in der Lohe des Altars mit hinauf. Da das Manoah und sein Weib sahen, fielen sie zur Erde auf ihr Angesicht.
13:20 For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their faces to the ground.
13:21 Und der Engel des HERRN erschien nicht mehr Manoah und seinem Weibe. Da erkannte Manoah, daß es der Engel des HERRN war,
13:21 But the angel of the LORD did no more appear to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was an angel of the LORD.
13:22 und sprach zu seinem Weibe: Wir müssen des Todes sterben, daß wir Gott gesehen haben.
13:22 And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.
13:23 Aber sein Weib antwortete ihm: Wenn der HERR Lust hätte, uns zu töten, so hätte er das Brandopfer und Speisopfer nicht genommen von unsern Händen; er hätte uns auch nicht alles solches erzeigt noch uns solches hören lassen, wie jetzt geschehen ist.
13:23 But his wife said unto him, If the LORD were pleased to kill us, he would not have received a burnt offering and a food offering at our hands, neither would he have showed us all these things, nor would as at this time have told us such things as these.
13:24 Und das Weib gebar einen Sohn und hieß ihn Simson. Und der Knabe wuchs, und der HERR segnete ihn.
13:24 And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and the LORD blessed him.
13:25 Und der Geist des HERRN fing an, ihn zu treiben im Lager Dan zwischen Zora und Esthaol.
13:25 And the Spirit of the LORD began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.

14:1 Simson ging gen Thimnath und sah ein Weib zu Thimnath unter den Töchtern der Philister.
14:1 And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines.
14:2 Und da er heraufkam, sagte er's an seinem Vater und seiner Mutter und sprach: Ich habe ein Weib gesehen zu Thimnath unter den Töchtern der Philister; gebt mir nun diese zum Weibe.
14:2 And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife.
14:3 Sein Vater und sein Mutter sprachen zu ihm: Ist denn nun kein Weib unter den Töchtern deiner Brüder und in allem deinem Volk, daß du hingehst und nimmst ein Weib bei den Philistern, die unbeschnitten sind? Simson sprach zu seinem Vater: Gib mir diese; denn sie gefällt meinen Augen.
14:3 Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there not a woman among the daughters of your brethren, or among all my people, that you go to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleases me well.
14:4 Aber sein Vater und seine Mutter wußten nicht, daß es von dem HERRN wäre; denn er suchte Ursache wider die Philister. Die Philister aber herrschten zu der Zeit über Israel.
14:4 But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.
14:5 Also ging Simson hinab mit seinem Vater und seiner Mutter gen Thimnath. Und als sie kamen an die Weinberge zu Thimnath, siehe, da kam ein junger Löwe brüllend ihm entgegen.
14:5 Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him.
14:6 Und der Geist des HERRN geriet über ihn, und er zerriß ihn, wie man ein Böcklein zerreißt, und hatte doch gar nichts in seiner Hand. Und sagte es nicht an seinem Vater noch seiner Mutter, was er getan hatte.
14:6 And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.
14:7 Da er nun hinabkam redete er mit dem Weibe, und sie gefiel Simson in seinen Augen.
14:7 And he went down, and talked with the woman; and she pleased Samson well.
14:8 Und nach etlichen Tagen kam er wieder, daß er sie nähme; und trat aus dem Wege, daß er das Aas des Löwen besähe. Siehe, da war ein Bienenschwarm in dem Leibe des Löwen und Honig.
14:8 And after a time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcass of the lion.
14:9 Und er nahm ihn in seine Hand und aß davon unterwegs und ging zu seinem Vater und zu seiner Mutter und gab ihnen, daß sie auch aßen. Er sagte ihnen aber nicht an, daß er den Honig aus des Löwen Leibe genommen hatte.
14:9 And he took thereof in his hands, and went on eating, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat: but he told not them that he had taken the honey out of the carcass of the lion.
14:10 Und da sein Vater hinabkam zu dem Weibe, machte Simson daselbst eine Hochzeit, wie die Jünglinge zu tun pflegen. {~}
14:10 So his father went down unto the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do.
14:11 Und da sie ihn sahen, gaben sie ihm dreißig Gesellen zu, die bei ihm sein sollten.
14:11 And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him.
14:12 Simson aber sprach zu ihnen: Ich will euch ein Rätsel aufgeben. Wenn ihr mir das erratet und trefft diese sieben Tage der Hochzeit, so will ich euch dreißig Hemden geben und dreißig Feierkleider. {~}
14:12 And Samson said unto them, I will now put forth a riddle unto you: if all of you can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments:
14:13 Könnt ihrs aber nicht erraten, so sollt ihr mir dreißig Hemden und dreißig Feierkleider geben. Und sie sprachen zu ihm: Gib dein Rätsel auf; laß uns hören!
14:13 But if all of you cannot declare it me, then shall all of you give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth your riddle, that we may hear it.
14:14 Er sprach zu ihnen: Speise ging von dem Fresser und Süßigkeit von dem Starken. Und sie konnten in drei Tagen das Rätsel nicht erraten. {~}
14:14 And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth food, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.
14:15 Am siebenten Tage sprachen sie zu Simsons Weibe: Überrede deinen Mann, daß er uns sage das Rätsel, oder wir werden dich und deines Vaters Haus mit Feuer verbrennen. Habt ihr uns hierher geladen, daß ihr uns arm macht? Oder nicht?
14:15 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson's wife, Entice your husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn you and your father's house with fire: have all of you called us to take that we have? is it not so?
14:16 Da weinte Simsons Weib vor ihm und sprach: Du bist mir gram und hast mich nicht lieb. Du hast den Kindern meines Volkes ein Rätsel aufgegeben und hast mir's nicht gesagt. Er aber sprach zu ihr: Siehe, ich habe es meinem Vater und meiner Mutter nicht gesagt und sollte dir's sagen?
14:16 And Samson's wife wept before him, and said, You do but hate me, and love me not: you have put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and have not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it you?
14:17 Und sie weinte die sieben Tage vor ihm, da sie Hochzeit hatten; aber am siebenten Tage sagte er's ihr, denn sie drängte ihn. Und sie sagte das Rätsel ihres Volkes Kindern.
14:17 And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she lay sore upon him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people.
14:18 Da sprachen die Männer der Stadt zu ihm am siebenten Tage, ehe die Sonne unterging: Was ist süßer den Honig? Was ist stärker denn der Löwe? Aber er sprach zu ihnen: Wenn ihr nicht hättet mit meinem Kalb gepflügt, ihr hättet mein Rätsel nicht getroffen.
14:18 And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion? and he said unto them, If all of you had not plowed with my heifer, all of you had not found out my riddle.
14:19 Und der Geist des HERRN geriet über ihn, und er ging hinab gen Askalon und schlug dreißig Mann unter ihnen und nahm ihr Gewand und gab Feierkleider denen, die das Rätsel erraten hatten. Und ergrimmte in seinem Zorn und ging herauf in seines Vaters Haus.
14:19 And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father's house.
14:20 Aber Simsons Weib ward einem seiner Gesellen gegeben, der ihm zugehörte.
14:20 But Samson's wife was given to his companion, whom he had used as his friend.

15:1 Es begab sich aber nach etlichen Tagen, um die Weizenernte, daß Simson sein Weib besuchte mit einem Ziegenböcklein. Und als er gedachte: Ich will zu meinem Weibe gehen in die Kammer, wollte ihn der Vater nicht hinein lassen
15:1 But it came to pass within a while after, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in.
15:2 und sprach: Ich meinte, du wärest ihr gram geworden, und habe sie deinem Freunde gegeben. Sie hat aber eine jüngere Schwester, die ist schöner denn sie; die laß dein sein für diese. {~} {~}
15:2 And her father said, I verily thought that you had utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to your companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray you, instead of her.
15:3 Da sprach Simson zu ihnen: Ich habe einmal eine gerechte Sache wider die Philister; ich will euch Schaden tun.
15:3 And Samson said concerning them, Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure.
15:4 Und Simson ging hin und fing dreihundert Füchse und nahm Brände und kehrte je einen Schwanz zum andern und tat einen Brand je zwischen zwei Schwänze
15:4 And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails.
15:5 und zündete die Brände an mit Feuer und ließ sie unter das Korn der Philister und zündete also an die Garben samt dem stehenden Korn und Weinberge und Ölbäume.
15:5 And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.
15:6 Da sprachen die Philister: Wer hat das getan? Da sagte man: Simson, der Eidam des Thimniters; darum daß er ihm sein Weib genommen und seinem Freunde gegeben hat. Da zogen die Philister hinauf und verbrannten sie samt ihrem Vater mit Feuer.
15:6 Then the Philistines said, Who has done this? And they answered, Samson, the son in law of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire.
15:7 Simson aber sprach zu ihnen: Wenn ihr solches tut, so will ich mich an euch rächen und darnach aufhören,
15:7 And Samson said unto them, Though all of you have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.
15:8 und schlug sie hart, an Schultern und an Lenden. Und zog hinab und wohnte in der Steinkluft zu Etam.
15:8 And he stroke them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the top of the rock Etam.
15:9 Da zogen die Philister hinauf und lagerten sich in Juda und ließen sich nieder zu Lehi.
15:9 Then the Philistines went up, and pitched in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.
15:10 Aber die von Juda sprachen: Warum seid ihr wider uns heraufgezogen? Sie antworteten: Wir sind heraufgekommen, Simson zu binden, daß wir mit ihm tun, wie er uns getan hat.
15:10 And the men of Judah said, Why are all of you come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he has done to us.
15:11 Da zogen dreitausend Mann von Juda hinab in die Steinkluft zu Etam und sprachen zu Simson: Weißt du nicht, daß die Philister über uns herrschen? Warum hast du denn das an uns getan? Er sprach zu ihnen: Wie sie mir getan haben, so habe ich ihnen wieder getan.
15:11 Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Know you not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that you have done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.
15:12 Sie sprachen zu ihm: Wir sind herabgekommen, dich zu binden und in der Philister Hände zu geben. Simson sprach zu ihnen: So schwört mir, daß ihr mir kein Leid tun wollt.
15:12 And they said unto him, We are come down to bind you, that we may deliver you into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that all of you will not fall upon me yourselves.
15:13 Sie antworteten ihm: Wir wollen dir kein Leid tun, sondern wollen dich nur Binden und in ihre Hände geben und wollen dich nicht töten. Und sie banden ihn mit zwei neuen Stricken und führten ihn herauf vom Fels.
15:13 And they spoke unto him, saying, No; but we will bind you fast, and deliver you into their hand: but surely we will not kill you. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.
15:14 Und da er kam bis gen Lehi, jauchzten die Philister ihm entgegen. Aber der Geist Gottes geriet über ihn, und die Stricke an seinen Armen wurden wie Fäden, die das Feuer versengt hat, daß die Bande an seinen Händen zerschmolzen.
15:14 And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.
15:15 Und er fand einen frischen Eselskinnbacken; da reckte er seine Hand aus und nahm ihn und schlug damit tausend Mann.
15:15 And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.
15:16 Und Simson sprach: Da liegen sie bei Haufen; durch eines Esels Kinnbacken habe ich tausend Mann geschlagen. {~}
15:16 And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.
15:17 Und da er das ausgeredet hatte, warf er den Kinnbacken aus seiner Hand und hieß die Stätte Ramath-Lehi (das ist Kinnbackenhöhe).
15:17 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramathlehi.
15:18 Da ihn aber sehr dürstete, rief er den HERRN an und sprach: Du hast solch großes Heil gegeben durch die Hand deines Knechtes; nun aber muß ich Durstes sterben und in der Unbeschnittenen Hände fallen.
15:18 And he was sore thirsty, and called on the LORD, and said, You have given this great deliverance into the hand of your servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?
15:19 Da spaltete Gott die Höhlung in Lehi, das Wasser herausging; und als er trank, kam der Geist wieder, und er ward erquickt. Darum heißt er noch heutigestages "des Anrufers Brunnen", der in Lehi ist. {~}
15:19 But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water from it; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof Enhakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.
15:20 Und er richtete Israel zu der Philister Zeit zwanzig Jahre.
15:20 And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.

16:1 Simson ging hin gen Gaza und sah daselbst eine Hure und kam zu ihr.
16:1 Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot, and went in unto her.
16:2 Da ward den Gazitern gesagt: Simson ist hereingekommen. Und sie umgaben ihn und ließen auf ihn lauern die ganze Nacht in der Stadt Tor und waren die ganze Nacht still und sprachen: Harre; morgen, wenn's licht wird, wollen wir ihn erwürgen.
16:2 And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson has come here. And they compassed him in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him.
16:3 Simson aber lag bis Mitternacht. Da stand er auf zu Mitternacht und ergriff beide Türen an der Stadt Tor samt den Pfosten und hob sie aus mit den Riegeln und legte sie auf seine Schultern und trug sie hinauf auf die Höhe des Berges vor Hebron.
16:3 And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before Hebron.
16:4 Darnach gewann er ein Weib lieb am Bach Sorek, die hieß Delila.
16:4 And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.
16:5 Zu der kamen der Philister Fürsten hinauf und sprachen zu ihr: Überrede ihn und siehe, worin er solche große Kraft hat und womit wir ihn übermögen, daß wir ihn binden und zwingen, so wollen wir dir geben ein jeglicher tausendundhundert Silberlinge.
16:5 And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lies, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and we will give you every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.
16:6 Und Delila sprach zu Simson: Sage mir doch, worin deine große Kraft sei und womit man dich binden möge, daß man dich zwinge?
16:6 And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray you, wherein your great strength lies, and wherewith you might be bound to afflict you.
16:7 Simson sprach zu ihr: Wenn man mich bände mit sieben Seilen von frischem Bast, die noch nicht verdorrt sind, so würde ich schwach und wäre wie ein anderer Mensch.
16:7 And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withes that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
16:8 Da brachten der Philister Fürsten zu ihr hinauf sieben Seile von frischem Bast, die noch nicht verdorrt waren; und sie band ihn damit.
16:8 Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withes which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.
16:9 (Man lauerte ihm aber auf bei ihr in der Kammer.) Und sie sprach zu ihm: Die Philister über dir, Simson! Er aber zerriß die Seile, wie eine flächsene Schnur zerreißt, wenn sie ans Feuer riecht; und es ward nicht kund, wo seine Kraft wäre.
16:9 Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon you, Samson. And he brake the withes, as a thread of tow is broken when it touches the fire. So his strength was not known.
16:10 Da sprach Delila zu Simson: Siehe, du hast mich getäuscht und mir gelogen; nun, so sage mir doch, womit kann man dich binden?
16:10 And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, you have mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray you, wherewith you might be bound.
16:11 Er antwortete ihr: Wenn sie mich bänden mit neuen Stricken, damit nie eine Arbeit geschehen ist, so würde ich schwach und wie ein anderer Mensch.
16:11 And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
16:12 Da nahm Delila neue Stricke und band ihn damit und sprach: Philister über dir, Simson! (Man lauerte ihm aber auf in der Kammer.) Und er zerriß sie von seinen Armen herab wie einen Faden. {~}
16:12 Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon you, Samson. And there were hidden attackers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.
16:13 Delila aber sprach zu ihm: Bisher hast du mich getäuscht und mir gelogen. Sage mir doch, womit kann man dich binden? Er antwortete ihr: Wenn du mir die sieben Locken meines Hauptes zusammenflöchtest mit einem Gewebe und heftetest sie mit dem Nagel ein.
16:13 And Delilah said unto Samson, Until now you have mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith you might be bound. And he said unto her, If you weave the seven locks of my head with the web.
16:14 Und sie sprach zu ihm: Philister über dir, Simson! Er aber wachte auf von seinem Schlaf und zog die geflochtenen Locken mit Nagel und Gewebe heraus.
16:14 And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon you, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.
16:15 Da sprach sie zu ihm: Wie kannst du sagen, du habest mich lieb, so dein Herz doch nicht mit mir ist? Dreimal hast du mich getäuscht und mir nicht gesagt, worin deine große Kraft sei.
16:15 And she said unto him, How can you say, I love you, when yours heart is not with me? you have mocked me these three times, and have not told me wherein your great strength lies.
16:16 Da sie ihn aber drängte mit ihren Worten alle Tage und ihn zerplagte, ward seine Seele matt bis an den Tod,
16:16 And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;
16:17 und er sagte ihr sein ganzes Herz und sprach zu ihr: Es ist nie ein Schermesser auf mein Haupt gekommen; denn ich bin ein Geweihter Gottes von Mutterleibe an. Wenn man mich schöre, so wiche meine Kraft von mir, daß ich schwach würde und wie alle anderen Menschen.
16:17 That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There has not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.
16:18 Da nun Delila sah, daß er ihr all sein Herz offenbart hatte, sandte sie hin und ließ der Philister Fürsten rufen und sagen: Kommt noch einmal herauf; denn er hat mir all sein Herz offenbart. Da kamen der Philister Fürsten zu ihr herauf und brachten das Geld mit sich in ihrer Hand.
16:18 And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he has showed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.
16:19 Und sie ließ ihn entschlafen auf ihrem Schoß und rief einem, der ihm die sieben Locken seines Hauptes abschöre. Und sie fing an ihn zu zwingen; da war seine Kraft von ihm gewichen.
16:19 And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.
16:20 Und sie sprach zu ihm: Philister über dir, Simson! Da er nun aus seinem Schlaf erwachte, gedachte er: Ich will ausgehen, wie ich mehrmals getan habe, ich will mich losreißen; und wußte nicht, daß der HERR von ihm gewichen war.
16:20 And she said, The Philistines be upon you, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he knows not that the LORD was departed from him.
16:21 Aber die Philister griffen ihn und stachen ihm die Augen aus und führten ihn hinab gen Gaza und banden ihn mit zwei ehernen Ketten, und er mußte mahlen im Gefängnis.
16:21 But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.
16:22 Aber das Haar seines Hauptes fing an, wieder zu wachsen, wo es geschoren war.
16:22 Nevertheless the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.
16:23 Da aber der Philister Fürsten sich versammelten, ihrem Gott Dagon ein großes Opfer zu tun und sich zu freuen, sprachen sie: Unser Gott hat uns unsern Feind Simson in unsre Hände gegeben.
16:23 Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together in order to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god has delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.
16:24 Desgleichen, als ihn das Volk sah, lobten sie ihren Gott; denn sie sprachen: Unser Gott hat uns unsern Feind in unsre Hände gegeben, der unser Land verderbte und unsrer viele erschlug.
16:24 And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god has delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us.
16:25 Da nun ihr Herz guter Dinge war, sprachen sie: Laßt Simson holen, daß er vor uns spiele. Da holten sie Simson aus dem Gefängnis, und er spielte vor ihnen, und sie stellten ihn zwischen die Säulen.
16:25 And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.
16:26 Simson aber sprach zu dem Knabe, der ihn bei der Hand leitete: Laß mich, das ich die Säulen taste, auf welchen das Haus steht, daß ich mich dranlehne.
16:26 And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house stands, that I may lean upon them.
16:27 Da Haus aber war voll Männer und Weiber. Es waren der Philister Fürsten alle da und auf dem Dach bei dreitausend, Mann und Weib, die zusahen, wie Simson spielte.
16:27 Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.
16:28 Simson aber rief den HERRN an und sprach: HERR HERR, gedenke mein und stärke mich doch, Gott, diesmal, daß ich für meine beiden Augen mich einmal räche an den Philistern! {~} {~}
16:28 And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray you, and strengthen me, I pray you, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
16:29 Und er faßte die zwei Mittelsäulen, auf welche das Haus gesetzt war und darauf es sich hielt, eine in seine rechte und die andere in seine linke Hand,
16:29 And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.
16:30 und sprach: Meine Seele sterbe mit den Philistern! und neigte sich kräftig. Da fiel das Haus auf die Fürsten und auf alles Volk, das darin war, daß der Toten mehr waren, die in seinem Tod starben, denn die bei seinem Leben starben.
16:30 And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.
16:31 Da kamen sein Brüder hernieder und seines Vaters ganzes Haus und hoben ihn auf und trugen ihn hinauf und begruben ihn in seines Vaters Manoahs Grab, zwischen Zora und Esthaol. Er richtete aber Israel zwanzig Jahre.
16:31 Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years.

17:1 Es war ein Mann auf dem Gebirge Ephraim, mit Namen Micha.
17:1 And there was a man of mount Ephraim, whose name was Micah.
17:2 Der sprach zu seiner Mutter: Die tausendundhundert Silberlinge, die dir genommen worden sind und derenthalben du den Fluch gesprochen und auch vor meinen Ohren gesagt hast, sieh, das Geld ist bei mir; ich habe es genommen. Da sprach sein Mutter: Gesegnet sei mein Sohn dem HERRN!
17:2 And he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from you, about which you cursed, and spoke of also in mine ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be you of the LORD, my son.
17:3 Also gab er seiner Mutter die tausendundhundert Silberlinge wieder. Und seine Mutter sprach: Ich habe das Geld dem HERRN geheiligt von meiner Hand für meinen Sohn, daß man ein Bildnis und einen Abgott machen soll; darum so gebe ich's dir nun wieder.
17:3 And when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto the LORD from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto you.
17:4 Aber er gab seiner Mutter das Geld wieder. Da nahm seine Mutter zweihundert Silberlinge und tat sie zu dem Goldschmied; der machte ihr ein Bild und einen Abgott, das war darnach im Hause Michas.
17:4 Yet he restored the money unto his mother; and his mother took two hundred shekels of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten image: and they were in the house of Micah.
17:5 Und der Mann Micha hatte also ein Gotteshaus; und machte einen Leibrock und Hausgötzen und füllte seiner Söhne einem die Hand, daß er sein Priester ward.
17:5 And the man Micah had an house of gods, and made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.
17:6 Zu der Zeit war kein König in Israel, und ein jeglicher tat, was ihn recht deuchte.
17:6 In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
17:7 Es war aber ein Jüngling von Bethlehem-Juda unter dem Geschlecht Juda's, und er war ein Levit und war fremd daselbst.
17:7 And there was a young man out of Bethlehemjudah of the family of Judah, who was a Levite, and he sojourned there.
17:8 Er zog aus der Stadt Bethlehem-Juda, zu wandern, wo er hin konnte. Und da er aufs Gebirge Ephraim kam zum Hause Michas, daß er seinen Weg ginge,
17:8 And the man departed out of the city from Bethlehemjudah to sojourn where he could find a place: and he came to mount Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he journeyed.
17:9 fragte ihn Micha: Wo kommst du her? Er antwortete ihm: Ich bin ein Levit von Bethlehem-Juda und wandere, wo ich hin kann. {~}
17:9 And Micah said unto him, Whence come you? And he said unto him, I am a Levite of Bethlehemjudah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place.
17:10 Micha aber sprach zu ihm: Bleibe bei mir, du sollst mein Vater und mein Priester sein; ich will dir jährlich zehn Silberlinge und deine Kleidung und Nahrung geben. Und der Levit ging hin.
17:10 And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give you ten shekels of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and your victuals. So the Levite went in.
17:11 Der Levit trat an, zu bleiben bei dem Mann; und er hielt den Jüngling gleich wie einen Sohn.
17:11 And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.
17:12 Und Micha füllte dem Leviten die Hand, daß er sein Priester ward, und war also im Haus Michas.
17:12 And Micah consecrated the Levite; and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.
17:13 Und Micha sprach: Nun weiß ich, daß mir der HERR wird wohltun, weil ich einen Leviten zum Priester habe.
17:13 Then said Micah, Now know I that the LORD will do me good, seeing I have a Levite to my priest.

18:1 Zu der Zeit war kein König in Israel. Und der Stamm der Daniter suchte sich ein Erbteil, da sie wohnen möchten; denn es war bis auf den Tag noch kein Erbe auf sie gefallen unter den Stämmen Israels.
18:1 In those days there was no king in Israel: and in those days the tribe of the Danites sought them an inheritance to dwell in; for unto that day all their inheritance had not fallen unto them among the tribes of Israel.
18:2 Und die Kinder Dan sandten aus ihren Geschlechtern von ihren Enden fünf streitbare Männer von Zora und Esthaol, das Land zu erkunden und zu erforschen, und sprachen zu ihnen: Ziehet hin und erforschet das Land. Und sie kamen auf das Gebirge Ephraim ans Haus Michas und blieben über Nacht daselbst. {~} {~}
18:2 And the children of Dan sent of their family five men from their coasts, men of valour, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land, and to search it; and they said unto them, Go, search the land: who when they came to mount Ephraim, to the house of Micah, they lodged there.
18:3 Und da sie bei dem Gesinde Michas waren, erkannten sie die Stimme des Jünglings, des Leviten; und sie wichen von ihrem Weg dahin und sprachen zu ihm: Wer hat dich hierhergebracht? Was machst du da? Und was hast du hier?
18:3 When they were by the house of Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the Levite: and they turned in thither, and said unto him, Who brought you here? and what make you in this place? and what have you here?
18:4 Er antwortete ihnen: So und so hat Micha an mir getan und hat mich gedingt, daß ich sein Priester sei.
18:4 And he said unto them, Thus and thus deals Micah with me, and has hired me, and I am his priest.
18:5 Sie sprachen zu ihm: Frage doch Gott, daß wir erfahren, ob unser Weg, den wir wandeln, auch wohl geraten werde.
18:5 And they said unto him, Ask counsel, we pray you, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.
18:6 Der Priester antwortete ihnen: Ziehet hin mit Frieden; euer Weg, den ihr ziehet, ist recht vor dem HERRN.
18:6 And the priest said unto them, Go in peace: before the LORD is your way wherein all of you go.
18:7 Da gingen die fünf Männer hin und kamen gen Lais und sahen das Volk, das darin war, sicher wohnen auf die Weise wie die Sidonier, still und sicher; und war niemand, der ihnen Leid täte im Land oder Herr über sie wäre, und waren ferne von den Sidoniern und hatten nichts mit Leuten zu tun.
18:7 Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.
18:8 Und sie kamen zu ihren Brüdern gen Zora und Esthaol; und ihre Brüder sprachen zu ihnen: Wie steht's mit euch?
18:8 And they came unto their brethren to Zorah and Eshtaol: and their brethren said unto them, What say all of you?
18:9 Sie sprachen: Auf, laßt uns zu ihnen hinaufziehen! denn wir haben das Land besehen, das ist sehr gut. Darum eilt und seid nicht faul zu ziehen, daß ihr kommt, das Land einzunehmen. {~}
18:9 And they said, Arise, that we may go up against them: for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good: and are all of you still? be not slothful to go, and to enter to possess the land.
18:10 Wenn ihr kommt, werdet ihr zu einem sichern Volke kommen, und das Land ist weit und breit; denn Gott hat's in eure Hände gegeben, einen solchen Ort, da nichts gebricht an alle dem, was auf Erden ist.
18:10 When all of you go, all of you shall come unto a people secure, and to a large land: for God has given it into your hands; a place where there is no lack of any thing that is in the earth.
18:11 Da zogen von da aus den Geschlechtern Dan von Zora und Esthaol sechshundert Mann, gerüstet mit ihren Waffen zum Streit,
18:11 And there went from thence of the family of the Danites, out of Zorah and out of Eshtaol, six hundred men appointed with weapons of war.
18:12 und zogen hinauf und lagerten sich zu Kirjath-Jearim in Juda. Daher nannten sie die Stätte das Lager Dan bis auf diesen Tag, das hinter Kirjath-Jearim liegt. {~}
18:12 And they went up, and pitched in Kirjathjearim, in Judah: wherefore they called that place Mahanehdan unto this day: behold, it is behind Kirjathjearim.
18:13 Und von da gingen sie auf das Gebirge Ephraim und kamen zum Hause Michas.
18:13 And they passed thence unto mount Ephraim, and came unto the house of Micah.
18:14 Da antworteten die fünf Männer, die ausgegangen waren, das Land Lais zu erkunden, und sprachen zu ihren Brüdern: Wißt ihr auch, daß in diesen Häusern ein Leibrock, Hausgötzen, Bildnis und Abgott sind? Nun möget ihr denken, was euch zu tun ist.
18:14 Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do all of you know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image? now therefore consider what all of you have to do.
18:15 Sie kehrten da ein und kamen an das Haus des Jünglings, des Leviten, in Michas Haus und grüßten ihn freundlich.
18:15 And they turned in that direction, and came to the house of the young man the Levite, even unto the house of Micah, and saluted him.
18:16 Aber die sechshundert Gerüsteten mit ihren Waffen, die von den Kindern Dan waren, standen vor dem Tor.
18:16 And the six hundred men appointed with their weapons of war, which were of the children of Dan, stood by the entering of the gate.
18:17 Und die fünf Männer, die das Land zu erkunden ausgezogen waren, gingen hinauf und kamen dahin und nahmen das Bild, den Leibrock, die Hausgötzen und den Abgott. Dieweil stand der Priester vor dem Tor bei den sechshundert Gerüsteten mit ihren Waffen.
18:17 And the five men that went to spy out the land went up, and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men that were appointed with weapons of war.
18:18 Als nun jene ins Haus Michas gekommen waren und nahmen das Bild, den Leibrock, die Hausgötzen und den Abgott, sprach der Priester zu ihnen: Was macht ihr?
18:18 And these went into Micah's house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do all of you?
18:19 Sie antworteten ihm: Schweige und halte das Maul zu und ziehe mit uns, daß du unser Vater und Priester seist. Ist dir's besser, daß du in des einen Mannes Haus Priester seist oder unter derer einem ganzen Stamm und Geschlecht in Israel?
18:19 And they said unto him, Hold your peace, lay yours hand upon your mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for you to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that you be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel?
18:20 Das gefiel dem Priester wohl, und er nahm den Leibrock, die Hausgötzen und das Bild und kam mit unter das Volk.
18:20 And the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people.
18:21 Und da sie sich wandten und hinzogen, schickten sie die Kindlein und das Vieh und was sie Köstliches hatten, vor sich her.
18:21 So they turned and departed, and put the little ones and the cattle and the carriage before them.
18:22 Da sie nun fern von Michas Haus kamen, wurden die Männer zuhauf gerufen, die in den Häusern waren bei Michas Haus, und folgten den Kindern Dan nach und riefen den Kindern Dan.
18:22 And when they were a good way from the house of Micah, the men that were in the houses near to Micah's house were gathered together, and overtook the children of Dan.
18:23 Sie aber wandten ihr Antlitz um und sprachen zu Micha: was ist dir, daß du also zuhauf kommst?
18:23 And they cried unto the children of Dan. And they turned their faces, and said unto Micah, What disturbs you, that you come with such a company?
18:24 Er antwortete: Ihr habt meine Götter genommen, die ich gemacht hatte, und den Priester und ziehet hin; und was habe ich nun mehr? Und ihr fragt noch, was mir fehle?
18:24 And he said, All of you have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and all of you are gone away: and what have I more? and what is this that all of you say unto me, What disturbs you?
18:25 Aber die Kinder Dan sprachen zu ihm: Laß deine Stimme nicht hören bei uns, daß nicht auf dich stoßen zornige Leute und deine Seele und deines Hauses Seele nicht hingerafft werde!
18:25 And the children of Dan said unto him, Let not your voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows run upon you, and you lose your life, with the lives of your household.
18:26 Also gingen die Kinder Dan ihres Weges. Und Micha, da er sah, daß sie ihm zu stark waren, wandte er sich um und kam wieder zu seinem Hause.
18:26 And the children of Dan went their way: and when Micah saw that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back unto his house.
18:27 Sie aber nahmen, was Micha gemacht hatte, und den Priester, den er hatte, und kamen an Lais, an ein stilles, sicheres Volk, und schlugen es mit der Schärfe des Schwerts und verbrannten die Stadt mit Feuer.
18:27 And they took the things which Micah had made, and the priest which he had, and came unto Laish, unto a people that were resting and secure: and they stroke them with the edge of the sword, and burnt the city with fire.
18:28 Und war niemand, der sie errettete; denn sie lag fern von Sidon, und sie hatten mit den Leuten nichts zu schaffen; und sie lag im Grunde, welcher an Beth-Rehob liegt. Da bauten sie die Stadt und wohnten darin
18:28 And there was no deliverer, because it was far from Zidon, and they had no business with any man; and it was in the valley that lies by Bethrehob. And they built a city, and dwelt therein.
18:29 und nannten sie Dan nach dem Namen ihres Vaters Dan, der Israel geboren war. (Und die Stadt hieß vorzeiten Lais.)
18:29 And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born unto Israel: nevertheless the name of the city was Laish at the first.
18:30 Und die Kinder Dan richteten für sich auf das Bild. Und Jonathan, der Sohn Gersons, des Sohnes Manasses, und seine Söhne waren Priester unter dem Stamm der Daniter bis an die Zeit, da sie aus dem Lande gefangen geführt wurden.
18:30 And the children of Dan set up the graven image: and Jonathan, the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh, he and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the day of the captivity of the land.
18:31 Also setzten sie unter sich das Bild Michas, das er gemacht hatte, so lange, als das Haus Gottes war zu Silo.
18:31 And they set them up Micah's graven image, which he made, all the time that the house of God was in Shiloh.

19:1 Zu der Zeit war kein König in Israel. Und ein levitischer Mann war Fremdling an der Seite des Gebirges Ephraim und hatte sich ein Kebsweib genommen von Bethlehem-Juda.
19:1 And it came to pass in those days, when there was no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite sojourning on the side of mount Ephraim, who took to him a concubine out of Bethlehemjudah.
19:2 Und da sie hatte neben ihm gehurt, lief sie von ihm zu ihres Vaters Haus gen Bethlehem-Juda und war daselbst vier Monate lang.
19:2 And his concubine played the whore against him, and went away from him unto her father's house to Bethlehemjudah, and was there four whole months.
19:3 Und ihr Mann machte sich auf und zog ihr nach, daß er freundlich mit ihr redete und sie wieder zu sich holte; und hatte einen Knecht und ein Paar Esel mit sich. Und sie führte ihn in ihres Vaters Haus. Da ihn aber der Vater der Dirne sah, ward er froh und empfing ihn.
19:3 And her husband arose, and went after her, to speak friendly unto her, and to bring her again, having his servant with him, and a couple of asses: and she brought him into her father's house: and when the father of the damsel saw him, he rejoiced to meet him.
19:4 Und sein Schwiegervater, der Dirne Vater, hielt ihn, daß er drei Tage bei ihm blieb; sie aßen und tranken und blieben des Nachts da.
19:4 And his father in law, the damsel's father, retained him; and he abode with him three days: so they did eat and drink, and lodged there.
19:5 Des vierten Tages erhoben sie sich des Morgens früh, und er machte sich auf und wollte ziehen. Da sprach der Dirne Vater zu seinem Eidam: Labe dein Herz zuvor mit einem Bissen Brot, darnach sollt ihr ziehen.
19:5 And it came to pass on the fourth day, when they arose early in the morning, that he rose up to depart: and the damsel's father said unto his son in law, Comfort yours heart with a morsel of bread, and afterward go your way.
19:6 Und sie setzten sich und aßen beide miteinander und tranken. Da sprach der Dirne Vater zu dem Mann: Bleib doch über Nacht und laß dein Herz guter Dinge sein.
19:6 And they sat down, and did eat and drink both of them together: for the damsel's father had said unto the man, Be content, I pray you, and tarry all night, and let yours heart be merry.
19:7 Da aber der Mann aufstand und wollte ziehen, nötigte ihn sein Schwiegervater, daß er über Nacht dablieb.
19:7 And when the man rose up to depart, his father in law urged him: therefore he lodged there again.
19:8 Des Morgens am fünften Tage machte er sich früh auf und wollte ziehen. Da sprach der Dirne Vater: Labe doch dein Herz und laß uns verziehen, bis sich der Tag neigt. Und aßen also die beiden miteinander.
19:8 And he arose early in the morning on the fifth day to depart; and the damsel's father said, Comfort yours heart, I pray you. And they tarried until afternoon, and they did eat both of them.
19:9 Und der Mann machte sich auf und wollte ziehen mit seinem Kebsweib und mit seinem Knechte. Aber sein Schwiegervater, der Dirne Vater, sprach zu ihm: Siehe, der Tag hat sich geneigt, und es will Abend werden; bleib über Nacht. Siehe, hier ist Herberge noch diesen Tag; bleibe hier über Nacht und laß dein Herz guter Dinge sein. Morgen steht ihr früh auf und zieht eures Weges zu deiner Hütte. {~} {~}
19:9 And when the man rose up to depart, he, and his concubine, and his servant, his father in law, the damsel's father, said unto him, Behold, now the day draws toward evening, I pray you tarry all night: behold, the day grows to an end, lodge here, that yours heart may be merry; and tomorrow get you early on your way, that you may go home.
19:10 Aber der Mann wollte nicht über Nacht bleiben, sondern machte sich auf und zog hin und kam bis vor Jebus, das ist Jerusalem, und sein Paar Esel beladen und sein Kebsweib mit ihm.
19:10 But the man would not tarry that night, but he rose up and departed, and came opposite to Jebus, which is Jerusalem; and there were with him two asses saddled, his concubine also was with him.
19:11 Da sie nun nahe bei Jebus kamen, sank der Tag sehr dahin. Und der Knecht sprach zu seinem Herrn: Komm doch und laß uns in diese Stadt der Jebusiter einkehren und über Nacht darin bleiben.
19:11 And when they were by Jebus, the day was far spent; and the servant said unto his master, Come, I pray you, and let us turn in into this city of the Jebusites, and lodge in it.
19:12 Aber sein Herr sprach zu ihm: Wir wollen nicht in der Fremden Stadt einkehren, die nicht sind von den Kindern Israel, sondern wollen hinüber gen Gibea.
19:12 And his master said unto him, We will not turn aside here into the city of a stranger, that is not of the children of Israel; we will pass over to Gibeah.
19:13 Und sprach zu seinem Knecht: Gehe weiter, daß wir hinzukommen an einen Ort und über Nacht zu Gibea oder zu Rama bleiben.
19:13 And he said unto his servant, Come, and let us draw near to one of these places to lodge all night, in Gibeah, or in Ramah.
19:14 Und sie zogen weiter und wandelten, und die Sonne ging ihnen unter, hart bei Gibea, das liegt in Benjamin.
19:14 And they passed on and went their way; and the sun went down upon them when they were by Gibeah, which belongs to Benjamin.
19:15 Und sie kehrten daselbst ein, daß sie hineinkämen und über Nacht zu Gibea blieben. Da er aber hineinkam, setzte er sich in der Stadt Gasse; denn es war niemand, der sie bei Nacht im Hause herbergen wollte.
19:15 And they turned aside thither, to go in and to lodge in Gibeah: and when he went in, he sat him down in a street of the city: for there was no man that took them into his house to lodging.
19:16 Und siehe, da kam ein alter Mann von seiner Arbeit vom Felde am Abend, und er war auch vom Gebirge Ephraim und ein Fremdling zu Gibea; aber die Leute des Orts waren Benjaminiter.
19:16 And, behold, there came an old man from his work out of the field at even, which was also of mount Ephraim; and he sojourned in Gibeah: but the men of the place were Benjamites.
19:17 Und da er seine Augen aufhob und sah den Gast auf der Gasse, sprach er zu ihm: Wo willst du hin? und wo kommst du her? {~}
19:17 And when he had lifted up his eyes, he saw a travelling man in the street of the city: and the old man said, Where go you? and whence come you?
19:18 Er aber antwortete ihm: Wir reisen von Bethlehem-Juda, bis wir kommen an die Seite des Gebirges Ephraim, daher ich bin; und bin gen Bethlehem-Juda gezogen und ziehe jetzt zum Hause des HERRN, und niemand will mich beherbergen. {~}
19:18 And he said unto him, We are passing from Bethlehemjudah toward the side of mount Ephraim; from thence am I: and I went to Bethlehemjudah, but I am now going to the house of the LORD; and there is no man that receives me to house.
19:19 Wir haben Stroh und Futter für unsre Esel und Brot und Wein für mich und deine Magd und für den Knecht, der mit deinem Diener ist, daß uns nichts gebricht.
19:19 Yet there is both straw and animal food for our asses; and there is bread and wine also for me, and for your handmaid, and for the young man which is with your servants: there is no lack of any thing.
19:20 Der alte Mann sprach: Friede sei mit dir! Alles was dir mangelt findest du bei mir; bleibe nur nicht über Nacht auf der Gasse.
19:20 And the old man said, Peace be with you; howsoever let all your wants lie upon me; only lodge not in the street.
19:21 Und führte ihn in sein Haus und gab den Eseln Futter, und sie wuschen ihre Füße und aßen und tranken.
19:21 So he brought him into his house, and gave animal food unto the asses: and they washed their feet, and did eat and drink.
19:22 Und da ihr Herz nun guter Dinge war, siehe, da kamen die Leute der Stadt, böse Buben, und umgaben das Haus und pochten an die Tür und sprachen zu dem alten Mann, dem Hauswirt: Bringe den Mann heraus, der in dein Haus gekommen ist, daß wir ihn erkennen. {~} {~} {~}
19:22 Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house round about, and beat at the door, and spoke to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into yours house, that we may know him.
19:23 Aber der Mann, der Hauswirt, ging zu ihnen heraus und sprach zu ihnen: Nicht, meine Brüder, tut nicht so übel; nachdem dieser Mann in mein Haus gekommen ist, tut nicht eine solche Torheit!
19:23 And the man, the master of the house, went out unto them, and said unto them, Nay, my brethren, nay, I pray you, do not so wickedly; seeing that this man has come into mine house, do not this folly.
19:24 Siehe, ich habe eine Tochter, noch eine Jungfrau, und dieser ein Kebsweib; die will ich herausbringen. Die mögt ihr zu Schanden machen, und tut mit ihr, was euch gefällt; aber an diesen Mann tut nicht solche Torheit.
19:24 Behold, here is my daughter a maiden, and his concubine; them I will bring out now, and humble all of you them, and do with them what seems good unto you: but unto this man do not so vile a thing.
19:25 Aber die Leute wollten ihm nicht gehorchen. Da faßte der Mann sein Kebsweib und brachte sie zu ihnen hinaus. Die erkannten sie und trieben ihren Mutwillen an ihr die ganze Nacht bis an den Morgen; und da die Morgenröte anbrach, ließen sie sie gehen.
19:25 But the men would not hearken to him: so the man took his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they had sexual contact with her, and abused her all the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her go.
19:26 Da kam das Weib hart vor morgens und fiel nieder vor der Tür am Hause des Mannes, darin ihr Herr war, und lag da, bis es licht ward.
19:26 Then came the woman in the dawning of the day, and fell down at the door of the man's house where her lord was, till it was light.
19:27 Da nun ihr Herr des Morgens aufstand und die Tür auftat am Hause und herausging, daß er seines Weges zöge, siehe, da lag sein Kebsweib vor der Tür des Hauses und ihre Hände auf der Schwelle.
19:27 And her lord rose up in the morning, and opened the doors of the house, and went out to go his way: and, behold, the woman his concubine was fallen down at the door of the house, and her hands were upon the threshold.
19:28 Er aber sprach zu ihr: Stehe auf, laß uns ziehen! Aber sie antwortete nicht. Da nahm er sie auf den Esel, machte sich auf und zog an seinen Ort.
19:28 And he said unto her, Up, and let us be going. But none answered. Then the man took her up upon an ass, and the man rose up, and got him unto his place.
19:29 Als er nun heimkam, nahm er ein Messer und faßte sein Kebsweib und zerstückte sie mit Gebein und mit allem in zwölf Stücke und sandte sie in alle Grenzen Israels.
19:29 And when he was come into his house, he took a knife, and laid hold on his concubine, and divided her, together with her bones, into twelve pieces, and sent her into all the coasts of Israel.
19:30 Wer das sah, der sprach: Solches ist nicht geschehen noch gesehen, seit der Zeit die Kinder Israel aus Ägyptenland gezogen sind, bis auf diesen Tag. Nun bedenkt euch über dem, gebt Rat und sagt an!
19:30 And it was so, that all that saw it said, There was no such deed done nor seen from the day that the children of Israel came up out of the land of Egypt unto this day: consider of it, take advice, and speak your minds.

20:1 Da zogen die Kinder Israel aus und versammelten sich zuhauf wie ein Mann, von Dan bis gen Beer-Seba und vom Lande Gilead zu dem HERRN gen Mizpa;
20:1 Then all the children of Israel went out, and the congregation was gathered together as one man, from Dan even to Beersheba, with the land of Gilead, unto the LORD in Mizpeh.
20:2 und traten zuhauf die Obersten des ganzen Volks aller Stämme Israels in der Gemeinde Gottes, vierhundertausend Mann zu Fuß, die das Schwert auszogen.
20:2 And the chief of all the people, even of all the tribes of Israel, presented themselves in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen that drew sword.
20:3 Aber die Kinder Benjamin hörten, daß die Kinder Israel hinauf gen Mizpa gezogen waren. Und die Kinder Israel sprachen: Sagt, wie ist das Übel zugegangen?
20:3 (Now the children of Benjamin heard that the children of Israel were gone up to Mizpeh.) Then said the children of Israel, Tell us, how was this wickedness?
20:4 Da antwortete der Levit, des Weibes Mann, die erwürgt war, und sprach: Ich kam gen Gibea in Benjamin mit meinem Kebsweibe, über Nacht dazubleiben.
20:4 And the Levite, the husband of the woman that was slain, answered and said, I came into Gibeah that belongs to Benjamin, I and my concubine, to lodge.
20:5 Da machten sich wider mich auf die Bürger zu Gibea und umgaben mich im Hause des Nachts und gedachten, mich zu erwürgen; und haben mein Kebsweib geschändet, daß sie gestorben ist.
20:5 And the men of Gibeah rose against me, and beset the house round about upon me by night, and thought to have slain me: and my concubine have they forced, that she is dead.
20:6 Da faßte ich mein Kebsweib und zerstückte es und sandte es in alle Felder des Erbes Israels; denn sie haben einen Mutwillen und eine Torheit getan in Israel.
20:6 And I took my concubine, and cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout all the country of the inheritance of Israel: for they have committed lewdness and folly in Israel.
20:7 Siehe, da seid ihr Kinder Israel alle; schafft euch Rat und tut hierzu!
20:7 Behold, all of you are all children of Israel; give here your advice and counsel.
20:8 Da machte sich alles Volk auf wie ein Mann und sprach: Es soll niemand in seine Hütte gehen noch in sein Haus kehren;
20:8 And all the people arose as one man, saying, We will not any of us go to his tent, neither will we any of us turn into his house.
20:9 sondern das wollen wir jetzt tun wider Gibea: {~} {~}
20:9 But now this shall be the thing which we will do to Gibeah; we will go up by lot against it;
20:10 laßt uns losen und nehmen zehn Mann von hundert, und hundert von tausend, und tausend von zehntausend aus allen Stämmen Israels, daß sie Speise nehmen für das Volk, daß es komme und tue mit Gibea-Benjamin nach all seiner Torheit, die es in Israel getan hat.
20:10 And we will take ten men of an hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and an hundred of a thousand, and a thousand out of ten thousand, to fetch victual for the people, that they may do, when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have wrought in Israel.
20:11 Also versammelten sich zu der Stadt alle Männer Israels, wie ein Mann verbunden.
20:11 So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together as one man.
20:12 Und die Stämme Israels sandten Männer zu allen Geschlechtern Benjamins und ließen ihnen sagen: Was ist das für eine Bosheit, die bei euch geschehen ist?
20:12 And the tribes of Israel sent men through all the tribe of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is this that is done among you?
20:13 So gebt nun her die Männer, die bösen Buben zu Gibea, daß wir sie töten und das Übel aus Israel tun! Aber die Kinder Benjamin wollten nicht gehorchen der Stimme ihrer Brüder, der Kinder Israel;
20:13 Now therefore deliver us the men, the children of Belial, which are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel.
20:14 sondern versammelten sich aus den Städten gen Gibea, auszuziehen in den Streit wider die Kinder Israel.
20:14 But the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities unto Gibeah, to go out to battle against the children of Israel.
20:15 Und wurden des Tages gezählt der Kinder Benjamin aus den Städten sechsundzwanzigtausend Mann, die das Schwert auszogen, ohne die Bürger zu Gibea, deren wurden siebenhundert gezählt, auserlesene Männer.
20:15 And the children of Benjamin were numbered at that time out of the cities twenty and six thousand men that drew sword, beside the inhabitants of Gibeah, which were numbered seven hundred chosen men.
20:16 Und unter allem diesem Volk waren siebenhundert Mann auserlesen, die links waren und konnten mit der Schleuder ein Haar treffen, daß sie nicht fehlten.
20:16 Among all this people there were seven hundred chosen men lefthanded; every one could sling stones at an hair breadth, and not miss.
20:17 Aber derer von Israel (ohne die von Benjamin) wurden gezählt vierhunderttausend Mann, die das Schwert führten, und alle streitbare Männer.
20:17 And the men of Israel, beside Benjamin, were numbered four hundred thousand men that drew sword: all these were men of war.
20:18 Die machten sich auf und zogen hinauf gen Beth-el und fragten Gott und sprachen: Wer soll vor uns hinaufziehen, den Streit anzufangen mit den Kindern Benjamin? Der HERR sprach: Juda soll anfangen.
20:18 And the children of Israel arose, and went up to the house of God, and asked counsel of God, and said, Which of us shall go up first to the battle against the children of Benjamin? And the LORD said, Judah shall go up first.
20:19 Also machten sich die Kinder Israel des Morgens auf und lagerten sich vor Gibea.
20:19 And the children of Israel rose up in the morning, and encamped against Gibeah.
20:20 Und ein jeder Mann von Israel ging heraus, zu streiten mit Benjamin, und schickten sich, zu streiten wider Gibea.
20:20 And the men of Israel went out to battle against Benjamin; and the men of Israel put themselves in array to fight against them at Gibeah.
20:21 Da fielen die Kinder Benjamin heraus aus Gibea und schlugen des Tages unter Israel zweiundzwanzigtausend zu Boden.
20:21 And the children of Benjamin came forth out of Gibeah, and destroyed down to the ground of the Israelites that day twenty and two thousand men.
20:22 Aber das Volk der Männer von Israel ermannte sich und stellte sich auf, noch weiter zu streiten am selben Ort, da sie sich des vorigen Tages gestellt hatten.
20:22 And the people the men of Israel encouraged themselves, and set their battle again in array in the place where they put themselves in array the first day.
20:23 Und die Kinder Israel zogen hinauf und weinten vor dem HERRN bis an den Abend und fragten den HERRN und sprachen: Sollen wir wieder nahen, zu streiten mit den Kindern Benjamin, unsern Brüdern? Der HERR sprach: Zieht hinauf zu ihnen!
20:23 (And the children of Israel went up and wept before the LORD until even, and asked counsel of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up again to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother? And the LORD said, Go up against him.)
20:24 Und da die Kinder Israel sich machten an die Kinder Benjamin des andern Tages,
20:24 And the children of Israel came near against the children of Benjamin the second day.
20:25 fielen die Benjaminiter heraus aus Gibea ihnen entgegen desselben Tages und schlugen von den Kindern Israel noch achtzehntausend zu Boden, die alle das Schwert führten.
20:25 And Benjamin went forth against them out of Gibeah the second day, and destroyed down to the ground of the children of Israel again eighteen thousand men; all these drew the sword.
20:26 Da zogen alle Kinder Israel hinauf und alles Volk und kamen gen Beth-El und weinten und blieben daselbst vor dem HERRN und fasteten den Tag bis zum Abend und opferten Brandopfer und Dankopfer vor dem HERRN.
20:26 Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came unto the house of God, and wept, and sat there before the LORD, and fasted that day until even, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
20:27 Und die Kinder Israel fragten den HERRN (es war aber daselbst die Lade des Bundes Gottes zu der Zeit,
20:27 And the children of Israel enquired of the LORD, (for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,
20:28 und Pinehas, der Sohn Eleasars, Aarons Sohns, stand vor ihm zu der Zeit) und sprachen: Sollen wir weiter ausziehen, zu streiten mit den Kindern Benjamin, unsern Brüdern, oder sollen wir ablassen? Der HERR sprach: Zieht hinauf; morgen will ich sie in eure Hände geben.
20:28 And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days,) saying, Shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease? And the LORD said, Go up; in order to morrow I will deliver them into yours hand.
20:29 Und die Kinder Israel stellten einen Hinterhalt auf Gibea umher.
20:29 And Israel set hidden attackers in wait round about Gibeah.
20:30 Und zogen also die Kinder Israel hinauf des dritten Tages gegen die Kinder Benjamin und stellten sich wider Gibea wie zuvor zweimal.
20:30 And the children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day, and put themselves in array against Gibeah, as at other times.
20:31 Da fuhren die Kinder Benjamin heraus, dem Volk entgegen, und wurden losgerissen von der Stadt und fingen an zu schlagen und zu verwunden etliche vom Volk, wie zuvor zweimal, im Felde auf zwei Straßen, deren eine gen Beth-El, die andere gen Gibea geht, bei dreißig Mann in Israel.
20:31 And the children of Benjamin went out against the people, and were drawn away from the city; and they began to strike of the people, and kill, as at other times, in the highways, of which one goes up to the house of God, and the other to Gibeah in the field, about thirty men of Israel.
20:32 Da gedachten die Kinder Benjamin: Sie sind geschlagen vor uns wie vorhin. Aber die Kinder Israel sprachen: Laßt uns fliehen, daß wir sie von der Stadt reißen auf die Straßen!
20:32 And the children of Benjamin said, They are smitten down before us, as at the first. But the children of Israel said, Let us flee, and draw them from the city unto the highways.
20:33 Da machten sich auf alle Männer von Israel von ihrem Ort und stellten sich zu Baal-Thamar. Und der Hinterhalt Israels brach hervor an seinem Ort, von der Höhle Geba,
20:33 And all the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and put themselves in array at Baaltamar: and the hidden attackers in wait of Israel came forth out of their places, even out of the meadows of Gibeah.
20:34 und kamen gen Gibea zehntausend Mann, auserlesen aus ganz Israel, daß der Streit hart ward; sie aber wußten nicht, daß sie das Unglück treffen würde.
20:34 And there came against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was sore: but they knew not that evil was near them.
20:35 Also schlug der HERR den Benjamin vor den Kindern Israel, daß die Kinder Israel auf den Tag verderbten fünfundzwanzigtausend und hundert Mann in Benjamin, die alle das Schwert führten.
20:35 And the LORD stroke Benjamin before Israel: and the children of Israel destroyed of the Benjamites that day twenty and five thousand and an hundred men: all these drew the sword.
20:36 Denn da die Kinder Benjamin sahen, daß sie geschlagen waren, gaben ihnen die Männer Israels Raum; denn sie verließen sich auf den Hinterhalt, den sie bei Gibea aufgestellt hatten.
20:36 So the children of Benjamin saw that they were smitten: for the men of Israel gave place to the Benjamites, because they trusted unto the hidden attackers in wait which they had set beside Gibeah.
20:37 Und der Hinterhalt eilte auch und brach hervor auf Gibea zu und zog hinan und schlug die ganze Stadt mit der Schärfe des Schwerts.
20:37 And the hidden attackers in wait hasted, and rushed upon Gibeah; and the hidden attackers in wait drew themselves along, and stroke all the city with the edge of the sword.
20:38 Sie hatten aber abgeredet miteinander, die Männer von Israel und der Hinterhalt, mit dem Schwert über sie zu fallen, wenn der Rauch aus der Stadt sich erhöbe.
20:38 Now there was an appointed sign between the men of Israel and the hidden attackers in wait, that they should make a great flame with smoke rise up out of the city.
20:39 Da nun die Männer von Israel sich wandten im Streit und Benjamin anfing zu schlagen und verwundeten in Israel bei dreißig Mann und gedachten: Sie sind vor uns geschlagen wie im vorigen Streit, {~}
20:39 And when the men of Israel retired in the battle, Benjamin began to strike and kill of the men of Israel about thirty persons: for they said, Surely they are smitten down before us, as in the first battle.
20:40 da fing an sich zu erheben von der Stadt ein Rauch stracks über sich. Und Benjamin wandte sich hinter sich, und siehe, da ging die Stadt ganz auf gen Himmel.
20:40 But when the flame began to arise up out of the city with a pillar of smoke, the Benjamites looked behind them, and, behold, the flame of the city ascended up to heaven.
20:41 Und die Männer von Israel wandten sich auch um. Da erschraken die Männer Benjamins; denn sie sahen, daß sie das Unglück treffen wollte.
20:41 And when the men of Israel turned again, the men of Benjamin were amazed: for they saw that evil was come upon them.
20:42 Und wandten sich von den Männern Israels auf den Weg zur Wüste; aber der Streit folgte ihnen nach, und die von den Städten hineingekommen waren, die verderbten sie drinnen.
20:42 Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness; but the battle overtook them; and them which came out of the cities they destroyed in the midst of them.
20:43 Und sie umringten Benjamin und jagten ihn bis gen Menuha und zertraten sie bis vor Gibea gegen der Sonne Aufgang.
20:43 Thus they enclosed the Benjamites round about, and chased them, and trode them down with ease opposite to Gibeah toward the sunrising.
20:44 Und es fielen von Benjamin achtzehntausend Mann, die alle streitbare Männer waren.
20:44 And there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men; all these were men of valour.
20:45 Da wandten sie sich und flohen zu der Wüste, an den Fels Rimmon; aber auf derselben Straße schlugen sie fünftausend Mann und folgten ihnen hintennach bis gen Gideom und schlugen ihrer zweitausend.
20:45 And they turned and fled toward the wilderness unto the rock of Rimmon: and they gleaned of them in the highways five thousand men; and pursued hard after them unto Gidom, and slew two thousand men of them.
20:46 Und also fielen des Tages von Benjamin fünfundzwanzigtausend Mann, die das Schwert führten und alle streitbare Männer waren. {~}
20:46 So that all which fell that day of Benjamin were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword; all these were men of valour.
20:47 Nur sechshundert Mann wandten sich und flohen zur Wüste, zum Fels Rimmon, und blieben im Fels Rimmon, vier Monate.
20:47 But six hundred men turned and fled to the wilderness unto the rock Rimmon, and abode in the rock Rimmon four months.
20:48 Und die Männer Israels kamen wieder zu den Kindern Benjamin und schlugen mit der Schärfe des Schwerts die in der Stadt, Leute und Vieh und alles, was man fand; und alle Städte, die man fand, verbrannte man mit Feuer.
20:48 And the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and stroke them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of every city, as the beast, and all that came to hand: also they set on fire all the cities that they came to.

21:1 Aber die Männer Israels hatten zu Mizpa geschworen und gesagt: Niemand soll seine Tochter den Benjaminitern zum Weib geben.
21:1 Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpeh, saying, There shall not any of us give his daughter unto Benjamin to wife.
21:2 Und das Volk kam gen Beth-El und blieb da bis zum Abend vor Gott, und sie hoben auf ihre Stimme und weinten sehr
21:2 And the people came to the house of God, and abode there till even before God, and lifted up their voices, and wept sore;
21:3 und sprachen: O HERR, Gott von Israel, warum ist das geschehen in Israel, daß heute Israel um einen Stamm kleiner geworden ist?
21:3 And said, O LORD God of Israel, why is this come to pass in Israel, that there should be to day one tribe lacking in Israel?
21:4 Des andern Morgens machte sich das Volk früh auf und baute da einen Altar und opferte Brandopfer und Dankopfer.
21:4 And it came to pass on the next day, that the people rose early, and built there an altar, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.
21:5 Und die Kinder Israel sprachen: Wer ist irgend von den Stämmen Israels, der nicht mit der Gemeinde ist heraufgekommen zum HERRN? Denn es war ein großer Eid geschehen, daß, wer nicht hinaufkäme zum HERRN gen Mizpa, der sollte des Todes sterben.
21:5 And the children of Israel said, Who is there among all the tribes of Israel that came not up with the congregation unto the LORD? For they had made a great oath concerning him that came not up to the LORD to Mizpeh, saying, He shall surely be put to death.
21:6 Und es reute die Kinder Israel über Benjamin, ihre Brüder, und sie sprachen: Heute ist ein Stamm von Israel abgebrochen.
21:6 And the children of Israel repented them for Benjamin their brother, and said, There is one tribe cut off from Israel this day.
21:7 Wie wollen wir ihnen tun, daß die Übriggebliebenen Weiber kriegen? Denn wir haben geschworen bei dem HERRN, daß wir ihnen von unsern Töchtern nicht Weiber geben.
21:7 How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing we have sworn by the LORD that we will not give them of our daughters to wives?
21:8 Und sprachen: Wer ist irgend von den Stämmen Israels, die nicht hinaufgekommen sind zum HERRN gen Mizpa? Und siehe, da war im Lager der Gemeinde niemand gewesen von Jabes in Gilead.
21:8 And they said, What one is there of the tribes of Israel that came not up to Mizpeh to the LORD? And, behold, there came none to the camp from Jabeshgilead to the assembly.
21:9 Denn sie zählten das Volk, und siehe, da war kein Bürger da von Jabes in Gilead.
21:9 For the people were numbered, and, behold, there were none of the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead there.
21:10 Da sandte die Gemeinde zwölftausend Mann dahin von streitbaren Männern und geboten ihnen und sprachen: Geht hin und schlagt mit der Schärfe des Schwerts die Bürger zu Jabes in Gilead mit Weib und Kind.
21:10 And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the valiant, and commanded them, saying, Go and strike the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the children.
21:11 Doch also sollt ihr tun: alles, was männlich ist, und alle Weiber, die beim Mann gelegen haben, verbannt.
21:11 And this is the thing that all of you shall do, All of you shall utterly destroy every male, and every woman that has lain by man.
21:12 Und sie fanden bei den Bürgern zu Jabes in Gilead vierhundert Dirnen, die Jungfrauen waren und bei keinem Mann gelegen hatten; die brachten sie ins Lager gen Silo, das da liegt im Lande Kanaan. {~} {~}
21:12 And they found among the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead four hundred young virgins, that had known no man by lying with any male: and they brought them unto the camp to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan.
21:13 Da sandte die ganze Gemeinde hin und ließ reden mit den Kindern Benjamin, die im Fels Rimmon waren, und sagten ihnen Frieden zu.
21:13 And the whole congregation sent some to speak to the children of Benjamin that were in the rock Rimmon, and to call peaceably unto them.
21:14 Also kamen die Kinder Benjamin wieder zu der Zeit. Und sie gaben ihnen die Weiber, die sie hatten erhalten von den Weibern zu Jabes in Gilead; aber es waren ihrer nicht genug für sie.
21:14 And Benjamin came again at that time; and they gave them wives which they had saved alive of the women of Jabeshgilead: and yet so they sufficed them not.
21:15 Da reute es das Volk über Benjamin, daß der HERR einen Riß gemacht hatte in den Stämmen Israels.
21:15 And the people repented them for Benjamin, because that the LORD had made a breach in the tribes of Israel.
21:16 Und die Ältesten der Gemeinde sprachen: Was wollen wir tun, daß die Übriggebliebenen Weiber kriegen? Denn die Weiber in Benjamin sind vertilgt.
21:16 Then the elders of the congregation said, How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing the women are destroyed out of Benjamin?
21:17 Und sie sprachen: Die übrigen von Benjamin müssen ja ihr Erbe behalten, daß nicht ein Stamm ausgetilgt werde von Israel.
21:17 And they said, There must be an inheritance for them that be escaped of Benjamin, that a tribe be not destroyed out of Israel.
21:18 Und wir können ihnen unsre Töchter nicht zu Weibern geben; denn die Kinder Israel haben geschworen und gesagt: Verflucht sei, wer den Benjaminitern ein Weib gibt!
21:18 Nevertheless we may not give them wives of our daughters: for the children of Israel have sworn, saying, Cursed be he that gives a wife to Benjamin.
21:19 Und sie sprachen: Siehe, es ist ein Jahrfest des HERRN zu Silo, das mitternachtwärts liegt von Beth-El, gegen der Sonne Aufgang von der Straße, da man hinaufgeht von Beth-El gen Sichem, und mittagswärts liegt von Lebona.
21:19 Then they said, Behold, there is a feast of the LORD in Shiloh yearly in a place which is on the north side of Bethel, on the east side of the highway that goes up from Bethel to Shechem, and on the south of Lebonah.
21:20 Und sie geboten den Kindern Benjamin und sprachen: Gehet hin und lauert in den Weinbergen.
21:20 Therefore they commanded the children of Benjamin, saying, Go and lie in wait in the vineyards;
21:21 Wenn ihr dann seht, daß die Töchter Silos heraus mit Reigen zum Tanz gehen, so fahret hervor aus den Weinbergen und nehme ein jeglicher sich ein Weib von den Töchtern Silos und gehet hin ins Land Benjamin.
21:21 And see, and, behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in dances, then come all of you out of the vineyards, and catch you every man his wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin.
21:22 Wenn aber ihre Väter oder Brüder kommen, mit uns zu rechten, wollen wir zu ihnen sagen: Gönnt sie uns; denn wir hatten nicht für jeden ein Weib genommen im Streit. Auch habt nicht ihr sie ihnen gegeben; sonst wäret ihr jetzt schuldig.
21:22 And it shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come unto us to complain, that we will say unto them, Be favourable unto them for our sakes: because we reserved not to each man his wife in the war: for all of you did not give unto them at this time, that all of you should be guilty.
21:23 Die Kinder Benjamin taten also und nahmen Weiber nach ihrer Zahl von den Reigen, die sie raubten, und zogen hin und wohnten in ihrem Erbteil und bauten die Städte und wohnten darin.
21:23 And the children of Benjamin did so, and took them wives, according to their number, of them that danced, whom they caught: and they went and returned unto their inheritance, and repaired the cities, and dwelt in them.
21:24 Auch die Kinder Israel machten sich von dannen zu der Zeit, ein jeglicher zu seinem Stamm und zu seinem Geschlecht, und zogen von da aus, ein jeglicher zu seinem Erbteil.
21:24 And the children of Israel departed thence at that time, every man to his tribe and to his family, and they went out from thence every man to his inheritance.
21:25 Zu der Zeit war kein König in Israel; ein jeglicher tat, was ihn recht deuchte.
21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
