1.1 Au commencement était la Parole, et la Parole était avec Dieu, et la Parole était Dieu.
1:1 In the beginning was the Word, (o. logos) and the Word (o. logos) was with God, and the Word (o. logos) was God.
1.2 Elle était au commencement avec Dieu.
1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
1.3 Toutes choses ont été faites par elle, et rien de ce qui a été fait n'a été fait sans elle.
1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
1.4 En elle était la vie, et la vie était la lumière des hommes.
1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
1.5 La lumière luit dans les ténèbres, et les ténèbres ne l'ont point reçue.
1:5 And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
1.6 Il y eut un homme envoyé de Dieu: son nom était Jean.
1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
1.7 Il vint pour servir de témoin, pour rendre témoignage à la lumière, afin que tous crussent par lui.
1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
1.8 Il n'était pas la lumière, mais il parut pour rendre témoignage à la lumière.
1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
1.9 Cette lumière était la véritable lumière, qui, en venant dans le monde, éclaire tout homme.
1:9 That was the true Light, which lights every man that comes into the world.
1.10 Elle était dans le monde, et le monde a été fait par elle, et le monde ne l'a point connue.
1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
1.11 Elle est venue chez les siens, et les siens ne l'ont point reçue.
1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
1.12 Mais à tous ceux qui l'ont reçue, à ceux qui croient en son nom, elle a donné le pouvoir de devenir enfants de Dieu, lesquels sont nés,
1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
1.13 non du sang, ni de la volonté de la chair, ni de la volonté de l'homme, mais de Dieu.
1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
1.14 Et la parole a été faite chair, et elle a habité parmi nous, pleine de grâce et de vérité; et nous avons contemplé sa gloire, une gloire comme la gloire du Fils unique venu du Père.
1:14 And the Word (o. logos) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
1.15 Jean lui a rendu témoignage, et s'est écrié: C'est celui dont j'ai dit: Celui qui vient après moi m'a précédé, car il était avant moi.
1:15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spoke, He that comes after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
1.16 Et nous avons tous reçu de sa plénitude, et grâce pour grâce;
1:16 And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace.
1.17 car la loi a été donnée par Moïse, la grâce et la vérité sont venues par Jésus Christ.
1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
1.18 Personne n'a jamais vu Dieu; le Fils unique, qui est dans le sein du Père, est celui qui l'a fait connaître.
1:18 No man has seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.
1.19 Voici le témoignage de Jean, lorsque les Juifs envoyèrent de Jérusalem des sacrificateurs et des Lévites, pour lui demander: Toi, qui es-tu?
1:19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who are you?
1.20 Il déclara, et ne le nia point, il déclara qu'il n'était pas le Christ.
1:20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.
1.21 Et ils lui demandèrent: Quoi donc? es-tu Élie? Et il dit: Je ne le suis point. Es-tu le prophète? Et il répondit: Non.
1:21 And they asked him, What then? Are you Elijah? And he says, I am not. Are you that prophet? And he answered, No.
1.22 Ils lui dirent alors: Qui es-tu? afin que nous donnions une réponse à ceux qui nous ont envoyés. Que dis-tu de toi-même?
1:22 Then said they unto him, Who are you? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What says you of yourself?
1.23 Moi, dit-il, je suis la voix de celui qui crie dans le désert: Aplanissez le chemin du Seigneur, comme a dit Ésaïe, le prophète.
1:23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah.
1.24 Ceux qui avaient été envoyés étaient des pharisiens.
1:24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.
1.25 Ils lui firent encore cette question: Pourquoi donc baptises-tu, si tu n'es pas le Christ, ni Élie, ni le prophète?
1:25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptize you then, if you be not that Christ, nor Elijah, neither that prophet?
1.26 Jean leur répondit: Moi, je baptise d'eau, mais au milieu de vous il y a quelqu'un que vous ne connaissez pas, qui vient après moi;
1:26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there stands one among you, whom all of you know not;
1.27 je ne suis pas digne de délier la courroie de ses souliers.
1:27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.
1.28 Ces choses se passèrent à Béthanie, au delà du Jourdain, où Jean baptisait.
1:28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.
1.29 Le lendemain, il vit Jésus venant à lui, et il dit: Voici l'Agneau de Dieu, qui ôte le péché du monde.
1:29 The next day John sees Jesus coming unto him, and says, Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world.
1.30 C'est celui dont j'ai dit: Après moi vient un homme qui m'a précédé, car il était avant moi.
1:30 This is he of whom I said, After me comes a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.
1.31 Je ne le connaissais pas, mais c'est afin qu'il fût manifesté à Israël que je suis venu baptiser d'eau.
1:31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
1.32 Jean rendit ce témoignage: J'ai vu l'Esprit descendre du ciel comme une colombe et s'arrêter sur lui.
1:32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit (o. pneuma) descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
1.33 Je ne le connaissais pas, mais celui qui m'a envoyé baptiser d'eau, celui-là m'a dit: Celui sur qui tu verras l'Esprit descendre et s'arrêter, c'est celui qui baptise du Saint Esprit.
1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom you shall see the Spirit (o. pneuma) descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizes with the Holy Spirit. (o. pneuma)
1.34 Et j'ai vu, et j'ai rendu témoignage qu'il est le Fils de Dieu.
1:34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
1.35 Le lendemain, Jean était encore là, avec deux de ses disciples;
1:35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
1.36 et, ayant regardé Jésus qui passait, il dit: Voilà l'Agneau de Dieu.
1:36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he says, Behold the Lamb of God!
1.37 Les deux disciples l'entendirent prononcer ces paroles, et ils suivirent Jésus.
1:37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
1.38 Jésus se retourna, et voyant qu'ils le suivaient, il leur dit: Que cherchez-vous? Ils lui répondirent: Rabbi (ce qui signifie Maître), où demeures-tu?
1:38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and says unto them, What seek all of you? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwell you?
1.39 Venez, leur dit-il, et voyez. Ils allèrent, et ils virent où il demeurait; et ils restèrent auprès de lui ce jour-là. C'était environ la dixième heure.
1:39 He says unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.
1.40 André, frère de Simon Pierre, était l'un des deux qui avaient entendu les paroles de Jean, et qui avaient suivi Jésus.
1:40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
1.41 Ce fut lui qui rencontra le premier son frère Simon, et il lui dit: Nous avons trouvé le Messie (ce qui signifie Christ).
1:41 He first finds his own brother Simon, and says unto him, We have found the Messiah, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
1.42 Et il le conduisit vers Jésus. Jésus, l'ayant regardé, dit: Tu es Simon, fils de Jonas; tu seras appelé Céphas (ce qui signifie Pierre).
1:42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, You are Simon the son of Jona: you shall be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.
1.43 Le lendemain, Jésus voulut se rendre en Galilée, et il rencontra Philippe. Il lui dit: Suis-moi.
1:43 The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and finds Philip, and says unto him, Follow me.
1.44 Philippe était de Bethsaïda, de la ville d'André et de Pierre.
1:44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
1.45 Philippe rencontra Nathanaël, et lui dit: Nous avons trouvé celui de qui Moïse a écrit dans la loi et dont les prophètes ont parlé, Jésus de Nazareth, fils de Joseph.
1:45 Philip finds Nathanael, and says unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
1.46 Nathanaël lui dit: Peut-il venir de Nazareth quelque chose de bon? Philippe lui répondit: Viens, et vois.
1:46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip says unto him, Come and see.
1.47 Jésus, voyant venir à lui Nathanaël, dit de lui: Voici vraiment un Israélite, dans lequel il n'y a point de fraude.
1:47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and says of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
1.48 D'où me connais-tu? lui dit Nathanaël. Jésus lui répondit: Avant que Philippe t'appelât, quand tu étais sous le figuier, je t'ai vu.
1:48 Nathanael says unto him, Whence know you me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.
1.49 Nathanaël répondit et lui dit: Rabbi, tu es le Fils de Dieu, tu es le roi d'Israël.
1:49 Nathanael answered and says unto him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.
1.50 Jésus lui répondit: Parce que je t'ai dit que je t'ai vu sous le figuier, tu crois; tu verras de plus grandes choses que celles-ci.
1:50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto you, I saw you under the fig tree, believe you? you shall see greater things than these.
1.51 Et il lui dit: En vérité, en vérité, vous verrez désormais le ciel ouvert et les anges de Dieu monter et descendre sur le Fils de l'homme.
1:51 And he says unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter all of you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
2.1 Trois jours après, il y eut des noces à Cana en Galilée. La mère de Jésus était là,
2:1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2.2 et Jésus fut aussi invité aux noces avec ses disciples.
2:2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
2.3 Le vin ayant manqué, la mère de Jésus lui dit: Ils n'ont plus de vin.
2:3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus says unto him, They have no wine.
2.4 Jésus lui répondit: Femme, qu'y a-t-il entre moi et toi? Mon heure n'est pas encore venue.
2:4 Jesus says unto her, Woman, what have I to do with you? mine hour is not yet come.
2.5 Sa mère dit aux serviteurs: Faites ce qu'il vous dira.
2:5 His mother says unto the servants, Whatsoever he says unto you, do it.
2.6 Or, il y avait là six vases de pierre, destinés aux purifications des Juifs, et contenant chacun deux ou trois mesures.
2:6 And there were set there six water pots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
2.7 Jésus leur dit: Remplissez d'eau ces vases. Et ils les remplirent jusqu'au bord.
2:7 Jesus says unto them, Fill the water pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
2.8 Puisez maintenant, leur dit-il, et portez-en à l'ordonnateur du repas. Et ils en portèrent.
2:8 And he says unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
2.9 Quand l'ordonnateur du repas eut goûté l'eau changée en vin, -ne sachant d'où venait ce vin, tandis que les serviteurs, qui avaient puisé l'eau, le savaient bien, -il appela l'époux,
2:9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
2.10 et lui dit: Tout homme sert d'abord le bon vin, puis le moins bon après qu'on s'est enivré; toi, tu as gardé le bon vin jusqu'à présent.
2:10 And says unto him, Every man at the beginning does set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but you have kept the good wine until now.
2.11 Tel fut, à Cana en Galilée, le premier des miracles que fit Jésus. Il manifesta sa gloire, et ses disciples crurent en lui.
2:11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
2.12 Après cela, il descendit à Capernaüm, avec sa mère, ses frères et ses disciples, et ils n'y demeurèrent que peu de jours.
2:12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.
2.13 La Pâque des Juifs était proche, et Jésus monta à Jérusalem.
2:13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2.14 Il trouva dans le temple les vendeurs de boeufs, de brebis et de pigeons, et les changeurs assis.
2:14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
2.15 Ayant fait un fouet avec des cordes, il les chassa tous du temple, ainsi que les brebis et les boeufs; il dispersa la monnaie des changeurs, et renversa les tables;
2:15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
2.16 et il dit aux vendeurs de pigeons: Otez cela d'ici, ne faites pas de la maison de mon Père une maison de trafic.
2:16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things behind; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
2.17 Ses disciples se souvinrent qu'il est écrit: Le zèle de ta maison me dévore.
2:17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of yours house has eaten me up.
2.18 Les Juifs, prenant la parole, lui dirent: Quel miracle nous montres-tu, pour agir de la sorte?
2:18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign show you unto us, seeing that you do these things?
2.19 Jésus leur répondit: Détruisez ce temple, et en trois jours je le relèverai.
2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
2.20 Les Juifs dirent: Il a fallu quarante-six ans pour bâtir ce temple, et toi, en trois jours tu le relèveras!
2:20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and will you rear it up in three days?
2.21 Mais il parlait du temple de son corps.
2:21 But he spoke of the temple of his body.
2.22 C'est pourquoi, lorsqu'il fut ressuscité des morts, ses disciples se souvinrent qu'il avait dit cela, et ils crurent à l'Écriture et à la parole que Jésus avait dite.
2:22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word (o. logos) which Jesus had said.
2.23 Pendant que Jésus était à Jérusalem, à la fête de Pâque, plusieurs crurent en son nom, voyant les miracles qu'il faisait.
2:23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
2.24 Mais Jésus ne se fiait point à eux, parce qu'il les connaissait tous,
2:24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
2.25 et parce qu'il n'avait pas besoin qu'on lui rendît témoignage d'aucun homme; car il savait lui-même ce qui était dans l'homme.
2:25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
3.1 Mais il y eut un homme d'entre les pharisiens, nommé Nicodème, un chef des Juifs,
3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
3.2 qui vint, lui, auprès de Jésus, de nuit, et lui dit: Rabbi, nous savons que tu es un docteur venu de Dieu; car personne ne peut faire ces miracles que tu fais, si Dieu n'est avec lui.
3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that you do, except God be with him.
3.3 Jésus lui répondit: En vérité, en vérité, je te le dis, si un homme ne naît de nouveau, il ne peut voir le royaume de Dieu.
3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
3.4 Nicodème lui dit: Comment un homme peut-il naître quand il est vieux? Peut-il rentrer dans le sein de sa mère et naître?
3:4 Nicodemus says unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
3.5 Jésus répondit: En vérité, en vérité, je te le dis, si un homme ne naît d'eau et d'Esprit, il ne peut entrer dans le royaume de Dieu.
3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, (o. pneuma) he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
3.6 Ce qui est né de la chair est chair, et ce qui est né de l'Esprit est Esprit.
3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit (o. pneuma) is spirit. (o. pneuma)
3.7 Ne t'étonne pas que je t'aie dit: Il faut que vous naissiez de nouveau.
3:7 Marvel not that I said unto you, All of you must be born again.
3.8 Le vent souffle où il veut, et tu en entends le bruit; mais tu ne sais d'où il vient, ni où il va. Il en est ainsi de tout homme qui est né de l'Esprit.
3:8 The wind (o. pneuma) blows where it decides, and you hear the sound thereof, but can not tell whence it comes, and where it goes: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (o. pneuma)
3.9 Nicodème lui dit: Comment cela peut-il se faire?
3:9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
3.10 Jésus lui répondit: Tu es le docteur d'Israël, et tu ne sais pas ces choses!
3:10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Are you a master of Israel, and know not these things?
3.11 En vérité, en vérité, je te le dis, nous disons ce que nous savons, et nous rendons témoignage de ce que nous avons vu; et vous ne recevez pas notre témoignage.
3:11 Verily, verily, I say unto you, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and all of you receive not our witness.
3.12 Si vous ne croyez pas quand je vous ai parlé des choses terrestres, comment croirez-vous quand je vous parlerai des choses célestes?
3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and all of you believe not, how shall all of you believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
3.13 Personne n'est monté au ciel, si ce n'est celui qui est descendu du ciel, le Fils de l'homme qui est dans le ciel.
3:13 And no man has ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
3.14 Et comme Moïse éleva le serpent dans le désert, il faut de même que le Fils de l'homme soit élevé,
3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
3.15 afin que quiconque croit en lui ait la vie éternelle.
3:15 That whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
3.16 Car Dieu a tant aimé le monde qu'il a donné son Fils unique, afin que quiconque croit en lui ne périsse point, mais qu'il ait la vie éternelle.
3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
3.17 Dieu, en effet, n'a pas envoyé son Fils dans le monde pour qu'il juge le monde, mais pour que le monde soit sauvé par lui.
3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
3.18 Celui qui croit en lui n'est point jugé; mais celui qui ne croit pas est déjà jugé, parce qu'il n'a pas cru au nom du Fils unique de Dieu.
3:18 He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
3.19 Et ce jugement c'est que, la lumière étant venue dans le monde, les hommes ont préféré les ténèbres à la lumière, parce que leurs oeuvres étaient mauvaises.
3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
3.20 Car quiconque fait le mal hait la lumière, et ne vient point à la lumière, de peur que ses oeuvres ne soient dévoilées;
3:20 For every one that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
3.21 mais celui qui agit selon la vérité vient à la lumière, afin que ses oeuvres soient manifestées, parce qu'elles sont faites en Dieu.
3:21 But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
3.22 Après cela, Jésus, accompagné de ses disciples, se rendit dans la terre de Judée; et là il demeurait avec eux, et il baptisait.
3:22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.
3.23 Jean aussi baptisait à Énon, près de Salim, parce qu'il y avait là beaucoup d'eau; et on y venait pour être baptisé.
3:23 And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
3.24 Car Jean n'avait pas encore été mis en prison.
3:24 For John was not yet cast into prison.
3.25 Or, il s'éleva de la part des disciples de Jean une dispute avec un Juif touchant la purification.
3:25 Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying.
3.26 Ils vinrent trouver Jean, et lui dirent: Rabbi, celui qui était avec toi au delà du Jourdain, et à qui tu as rendu témoignage, voici, il baptise, et tous vont à lui.
3:26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with you beyond Jordan, to whom you bare witness, behold, the same baptizes, and all men come to him.
3.27 Jean répondit: Un homme ne peut recevoir que ce qui lui a été donné du ciel.
3:27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
3.28 Vous-mêmes m'êtes témoins que j'ai dit: Je ne suis pas le Christ, mais j'ai été envoyé devant lui.
3:28 All of you yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.
3.29 Celui à qui appartient l'épouse, c'est l'époux; mais l'ami de l'époux, qui se tient là et qui l'entend, éprouve une grande joie à cause de la voix de l'époux: aussi cette joie, qui est la mienne, est parfaite.
3:29 He that has the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
3.30 Il faut qu'il croisse, et que je diminue.
3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
3.31 Celui qui vient d'en haut est au-dessus de tous; celui qui est de la terre est de la terre, et il parle comme étant de la terre. Celui qui vient du ciel est au-dessus de tous,
3:31 He that comes from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaks of the earth: he that comes from heaven is above all.
3.32 il rend témoignage de ce qu'il a vu et entendu, et personne ne reçoit son témoignage.
3:32 And what he has seen and heard, that he testifies; and no man receives his testimony.
3.33 Celui qui a reçu son témoignage a certifié que Dieu est vrai;
3:33 He that has received his testimony has set to his seal that God is true.
3.34 car celui que Dieu a envoyé dit les paroles de Dieu, parce que Dieu ne lui donne pas l'Esprit avec mesure.
3:34 For he whom God has sent speaks the words (o. rhema) of God: for God gives not the Spirit (o. pneuma) by measure unto him.

3:35 The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand.

3:36 He that believes on the Son has everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him.
4.1 Le Seigneur sut que les pharisiens avaient appris qu'il faisait et baptisait plus de disciples que Jean.
4:1 When therefore the LORD knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
4.2 Toutefois Jésus ne baptisait pas lui-même, mais c'étaient ses disciples.
4:2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
4.3 Alors il quitta la Judée, et retourna en Galilée.
4:3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
4.4 Comme il fallait qu'il passât par la Samarie,
4:4 And he must essentially go through Samaria.
4.5 il arriva dans une ville de Samarie, nommée Sychar, près du champ que Jacob avait donné à Joseph, son fils.
4:5 Then comes he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
4.6 Là se trouvait le puits de Jacob. Jésus, fatigué du voyage, était assis au bord du puits. C'était environ la sixième heure.
4:6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
4.7 Une femme de Samarie vint puiser de l'eau. Jésus lui dit: Donne-moi à boire.
4:7 There comes a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus says unto her, Give me to drink.
4.8 Car ses disciples étaient allés à la ville pour acheter des vivres.
4:8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy food.)
4.9 La femme samaritaine lui dit: Comment toi, qui es Juif, me demandes-tu à boire, à moi qui suis une femme samaritaine? -Les Juifs, en effet, n'ont pas de relations avec les Samaritains. -
4:9 Then says the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that you, being a Jew, ask drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
4.10 Jésus lui répondit: Si tu connaissais le don de Dieu et qui est celui qui te dit: Donne-moi à boire! tu lui aurais toi-même demandé à boire, et il t'aurait donné de l'eau vive.
4:10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that says to you, Give me to drink; you would have asked of him, and he would have given you living water.
4.11 Seigneur, lui dit la femme, tu n'as rien pour puiser, et le puits est profond; d'où aurais-tu donc cette eau vive?
4:11 The woman says unto him, Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then have you that living water?
4.12 Es-tu plus grand que notre père Jacob, qui nous a donné ce puits, et qui en a bu lui-même, ainsi que ses fils et ses troupeaux?
4:12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
4.13 Jésus lui répondit: Quiconque boit de cette eau aura encore soif;
4:13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinks of this water shall thirst again:
4.14 mais celui qui boira de l'eau que je lui donnerai n'aura jamais soif, et l'eau que je lui donnerai deviendra en lui une source d'eau qui jaillira jusque dans la vie éternelle.
4:14 But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
4.15 La femme lui dit: Seigneur, donne-moi cette eau, afin que je n'aie plus soif, et que je ne vienne plus puiser ici.
4:15 The woman says unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come here to draw.
4.16 Va, lui dit Jésus, appelle ton mari, et viens ici.
4:16 Jesus says unto her, Go, call your husband, and come here.
4.17 La femme répondit: Je n'ai point de mari. Jésus lui dit: Tu as eu raison de dire: Je n'ai point de mari.
4:17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, You have well said, I have no husband:
4.18 Car tu as eu cinq maris, et celui que tu as maintenant n'est pas ton mari. En cela tu as dit vrai.
4:18 For you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband: in that said you truly.
4.19 Seigneur, lui dit la femme, je vois que tu es prophète.
4:19 The woman says unto him, Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
4.20 Nos pères ont adoré sur cette montagne; et vous dites, vous, que le lieu où il faut adorer est à Jérusalem.
4:20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and all of you say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
4.21 Femme, lui dit Jésus, crois-moi, l'heure vient où ce ne sera ni sur cette montagne ni à Jérusalem que vous adorerez le Père.
4:21 Jesus says unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when all of you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
4.22 Vous adorez ce que vous ne connaissez pas; nous, nous adorons ce que nous connaissons, car le salut vient des Juifs.
4:22 All of you worship all of you know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
4.23 Mais l'heure vient, et elle est déjà venue, où les vrais adorateurs adoreront le Père en esprit et en vérité; car ce sont là les adorateurs que le Père demande.
4:23 But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit (o. pneuma) and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him.
4.24 Dieu est Esprit, et il faut que ceux qui l'adorent l'adorent en esprit et en vérité.
4:24 God is a Spirit: (o. pneuma) and they that worship him must worship him in spirit (o. pneuma) and in truth.
4.25 La femme lui dit: Je sais que le Messie doit venir (celui qu'on appelle Christ); quand il sera venu, il nous annoncera toutes choses.
4:25 The woman says unto him, I know that Messiah comes, which is called Christ: when he has come, he will tell us all things.
4.26 Jésus lui dit: Je le suis, moi qui te parle.
4:26 Jesus says unto her, I that speak unto you am he.
4.27 Là-dessus arrivèrent ses disciples, qui furent étonnés de ce qu'il parlait avec une femme. Toutefois aucun ne dit: Que demandes-tu? ou: De quoi parles-tu avec elle?
4:27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seek you? or, Why talk you with her?
4.28 Alors la femme, ayant laissé sa cruche, s'en alla dans la ville, et dit aux gens:
4:28 The woman then left her water pot, and went her way into the city, and says to the men,
4.29 Venez voir un homme qui m'a dit tout ce que j'ai fait; ne serait-ce point le Christ?
4:29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
4.30 Ils sortirent de la ville, et ils vinrent vers lui.
4:30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
4.31 Pendant ce temps, les disciples le pressaient de manger, disant: Rabbi, mange.
4:31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
4.32 Mais il leur dit: J'ai à manger une nourriture que vous ne connaissez pas.
4:32 But he said unto them, I have food to eat that all of you know not of.
4.33 Les disciples se disaient donc les uns aux autres: Quelqu'un lui aurait-il apporté à manger?
4:33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Has any man brought him ought to eat?
4.34 Jésus leur dit: Ma nourriture est de faire la volonté de celui qui m'a envoyé, et d'accomplir son oeuvre.
4:34 Jesus says unto them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
4.35 Ne dites-vous pas qu'il y a encore quatre mois jusqu'à la moisson? Voici, je vous le dis, levez les yeux, et regardez les champs qui déjà blanchissent pour la moisson.
4:35 Say not all of you, There are yet four months, and then comes harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
4.36 Celui qui moissonne reçoit un salaire, et amasse des fruits pour la vie éternelle, afin que celui qui sème et celui qui moissonne se réjouissent ensemble.
4:36 And he that reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit unto life eternal: that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together.
4.37 Car en ceci ce qu'on dit est vrai: Autre est celui qui sème, et autre celui qui moissonne.
4:37 And herein is that saying (o. logos) true, One sows, and another reaps.
4.38 Je vous ai envoyés moissonner ce que vous n'avez pas travaillé; d'autres ont travaillé, et vous êtes entrés dans leur travail.
4:38 I sent you to reap that whereon all of you bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and all of you are entered into their labours.
4.39 Plusieurs Samaritains de cette ville crurent en Jésus à cause de cette déclaration formelle de la femme: Il m'a dit tout ce que j'ai fait.
4:39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying (o. logos) of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
4.40 Aussi, quand les Samaritains vinrent le trouver, ils le prièrent de rester auprès d'eux. Et il resta là deux jours.
4:40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
4.41 Un beaucoup plus grand nombre crurent à cause de sa parole;
4:41 And many more believed because of his own word; (o. logos)
4.42 et ils disaient à la femme: Ce n'est plus à cause de ce que tu as dit que nous croyons; car nous l'avons entendu nous-mêmes, et nous savons qu'il est vraiment le Sauveur du monde.
4:42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of your saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
4.43 Après ces deux jours, Jésus partit de là, pour se rendre en Galilée;
4:43 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
4.44 car il avait déclaré lui-même qu'un prophète n'est pas honoré dans sa propre patrie.
4:44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet has no honour in his own country.
4.45 Lorsqu'il arriva en Galilée, il fut bien reçu des Galiléens, qui avaient vu tout ce qu'il avait fait à Jérusalem pendant la fête; car eux aussi étaient allés à la fête.
4:45 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
4.46 Il retourna donc à Cana en Galilée, où il avait changé l'eau en vin. Il y avait à Capernaüm un officier du roi, dont le fils était malade.
4:46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
4.47 Ayant appris que Jésus était venu de Judée en Galilée, il alla vers lui, et le pria de descendre et de guérir son fils, qui était près de mourir.
4:47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
4.48 Jésus lui dit: Si vous ne voyez des miracles et des prodiges, vous ne croyez point.
4:48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except all of you see signs and wonders, all of you will not believe.
4.49 L'officier du roi lui dit: Seigneur, descends avant que mon enfant meure.
4:49 The nobleman says unto him, Sir, come down before my child die.
4.50 Va, lui dit Jésus, ton fils vit. Et cet homme crut à la parole que Jésus lui avait dite, et il s'en alla.
4:50 Jesus says unto him, Go your way; your son lives. And the man believed the word (o. logos) that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
4.51 Comme déjà il descendait, ses serviteurs venant à sa rencontre, lui apportèrent cette nouvelle: Ton enfant vit.
4:51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Your son lives.
4.52 Il leur demanda à quelle heure il s'était trouvé mieux; et ils lui dirent: Hier, à la septième heure, la fièvre l'a quitté.
4:52 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
4.53 Le père reconnut que c'était à cette heure-là que Jésus lui avait dit: Ton fils vit. Et il crut, lui et toute sa maison.
4:53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Your son lives: and himself believed, and his whole house.
4.54 Jésus fit encore ce second miracle lorsqu'il fut venu de Judée en Galilée.
4:54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.
5.1 Après cela, il y eut une fête des Juifs, et Jésus monta à Jérusalem.
5:1 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
5.2 Or, à Jérusalem, près de la porte des brebis, il y a une piscine qui s'appelle en hébreu Béthesda, et qui a cinq portiques.
5:2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
5.3 Sous ces portiques étaient couchés en grand nombre des malades, des aveugles, des boiteux, des paralytiques, qui attendaient le mouvement de l'eau;
5:3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
5.4 car un ange descendait de temps en temps dans la piscine, et agitait l'eau; et celui qui y descendait le premier après que l'eau avait été agitée était guéri, quelle que fût sa maladie.
5:4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5.5 Là se trouvait un homme malade depuis trente-huit ans.
5:5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
5.6 Jésus, l'ayant vu couché, et sachant qu'il était malade depuis longtemps, lui dit: Veux-tu être guéri?
5:6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he says unto him, Will you be made whole?
5.7 Le malade lui répondit: Seigneur, je n'ai personne pour me jeter dans la piscine quand l'eau est agitée, et, pendant que j'y vais, un autre descend avant moi.
5:7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steps down before me.
5.8 Lève-toi, lui dit Jésus, prends ton lit, et marche.
5:8 Jesus says unto him, Rise, take up your bed, and walk.
5.9 Aussitôt cet homme fut guéri; il prit son lit, et marcha.
5:9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
5.10 C'était un jour de sabbat. Les Juifs dirent donc à celui qui avait été guéri: C'est le sabbat; il ne t'est pas permis d'emporter ton lit.
5:10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.
5.11 Il leur répondit: Celui qui m'a guéri m'a dit: Prends ton lit, et marche.
5:11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up your bed, and walk.
5.12 Ils lui demandèrent: Qui est l'homme qui t'a dit: Prends ton lit, et marche?
5:12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto you, Take up your bed, and walk?
5.13 Mais celui qui avait été guéri ne savait pas qui c'était; car Jésus avait disparu de la foule qui était en ce lieu.
5:13 And he that was healed know not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.
5.14 Depuis, Jésus le trouva dans le temple, et lui dit: Voici, tu as été guéri; ne pèche plus, de peur qu'il ne t'arrive quelque chose de pire.
5:14 Afterward Jesus finds him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, you are made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto you.
5.15 Cet homme s'en alla, et annonça aux Juifs que c'était Jésus qui l'avait guéri.
5:15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.
5.16 C'est pourquoi les Juifs poursuivaient Jésus, parce qu'il faisait ces choses le jour du sabbat.
5:16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
5.17 Mais Jésus leur répondit: Mon Père agit jusqu'à présent; moi aussi, j'agis.
5:17 But Jesus answered them, My Father works until now, and I work.
5.18 A cause de cela, les Juifs cherchaient encore plus à le faire mourir, non seulement parce qu'il violait le sabbat, mais parce qu'il appelait Dieu son propre Père, se faisant lui-même égal à Dieu.
5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
5.19 Jésus reprit donc la parole, et leur dit: En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, le Fils ne peut rien faire de lui-même, il ne fait que ce qu'il voit faire au Père; et tout ce que le Père fait, le Fils aussi le fait pareillement.
5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do: for what things whatsoever he does, these also does the Son likewise.
5.20 Car le Père aime le Fils, et lui montre tout ce qu'il fait; et il lui montrera des oeuvres plus grandes que celles-ci, afin que vous soyez dans l'étonnement.
5:20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all things that himself does: and he will show him greater works than these, that all of you may marvel.
5.21 Car, comme le Père ressuscite les morts et donne la vie, ainsi le Fils donne la vie à qui il veut.
5:21 For as the Father raises up the dead, and replenishes life to them; even so the Son gives life to whom he will.
5.22 Le Père ne juge personne, mais il a remis tout jugement au Fils,
5:22 For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment unto the Son:
5.23 afin que tous honorent le Fils comme ils honorent le Père. Celui qui n'honore pas le Fils n'honore pas le Père qui l'a envoyé.
5:23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honors not the Son honors not the Father which has sent him.
5.24 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, celui qui écoute ma parole, et qui croit à celui qui m'a envoyé, a la vie éternelle et ne vient point en jugement, mais il est passé de la mort à la vie.
5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word, (o. logos) and believes on him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
5.25 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, l'heure vient, et elle est déjà venue, où les morts entendront la voix du Fils de Dieu; et ceux qui l'auront entendue vivront.
5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
5.26 Car, comme le Père a la vie en lui-même, ainsi il a donné au Fils d'avoir la vie en lui-même.
5:26 For as the Father has life in himself; so has he given to the Son to have life in himself;
5.27 Et il lui a donné le pouvoir de juger, parce qu'il est Fils de l'homme.
5:27 And has given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
5.28 Ne vous étonnez pas de cela; car l'heure vient où tous ceux qui sont dans les sépulcres entendront sa voix, et en sortiront.
5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
5.29 Ceux qui auront fait le bien ressusciteront pour la vie, mais ceux qui auront fait le mal ressusciteront pour le jugement.
5:29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
5.30 Je ne puis rien faire de moi-même: selon que j'entends, je juge; et mon jugement est juste, parce que je ne cherche pas ma volonté, mais la volonté de celui qui m'a envoyé.
5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which has sent me.
5.31 Si c'est moi qui rends témoignage de moi-même, mon témoignage n'est pas vrai.
5:31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
5.32 Il y en a un autre qui rend témoignage de moi, et je sais que le témoignage qu'il rend de moi est vrai.
5:32 There is another that bears witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesses of me is true.
5.33 Vous avez envoyé vers Jean, et il a rendu témoignage à la vérité.
5:33 All of you sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.
5.34 Pour moi ce n'est pas d'un homme que je reçois le témoignage; mais je dis ceci, afin que vous soyez sauvés.
5:34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that all of you might be saved.
5.35 Jean était la lampe qui brûle et qui luit, et vous avez voulu vous réjouir une heure à sa lumière.
5:35 He was a burning and a shining light: and all of you were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
5.36 Moi, j'ai un témoignage plus grand que celui de Jean; car les oeuvres que le Père m'a donné d'accomplir, ces oeuvres mêmes que je fais, témoignent de moi que c'est le Père qui m'a envoyé.
5:36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father has given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father has sent me.
5.37 Et le Père qui m'a envoyé a rendu lui-même témoignage de moi. Vous n'avez jamais entendu sa voix, vous n'avez point vu sa face,
5:37 And the Father himself, which has sent me, has borne witness of me. All of you have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
5.38 et sa parole ne demeure point en vous, parce que vous ne croyez pas à celui qu'il a envoyé.
5:38 And all of you have not his word (o. logos) abiding in you: for whom he has sent, him all of you believe not.
5.39 Vous sondez les Écritures, parce que vous pensez avoir en elles la vie éternelle: ce sont elles qui rendent témoignage de moi.
5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them all of you think all of you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
5.40 Et vous ne voulez pas venir à moi pour avoir la vie!
5:40 And all of you will not come to me, that all of you might have life.
5.41 Je ne tire pas ma gloire des hommes.
5:41 I receive not honour from men.
5.42 Mais je sais que vous n'avez point en vous l'amour de Dieu.
5:42 But I know you, that all of you have not the love (o. agape) of God in you.
5.43 Je suis venu au nom de mon Père, et vous ne me recevez pas; si un autre vient en son propre nom, vous le recevrez.
5:43 I am come in my Father's name, and all of you receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him all of you will receive.
5.44 Comment pouvez-vous croire, vous qui tirez votre gloire les uns des autres, et qui ne cherchez point la gloire qui vient de Dieu seul?
5:44 How can all of you believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that comes from God only?
5.45 Ne pensez pas que moi je vous accuserai devant le Père; celui qui vous accuse, c'est Moïse, en qui vous avez mis votre espérance.
5:45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuses you, even Moses, in whom all of you trust.
5.46 Car si vous croyiez Moïse, vous me croiriez aussi, parce qu'il a écrit de moi.
5:46 For had all of you believed Moses, all of you would have believed me; for he wrote of me.
5.47 Mais si vous ne croyez pas à ses écrits, comment croirez-vous à mes paroles?
5:47 But if all of you believe not his writings, how shall all of you believe my words? (o. rhema)
6.1 Après cela, Jésus s'en alla de l'autre côté de la mer de Galilée, de Tibériade.
6:1 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.
6.2 Une grande foule le suivait, parce qu'elle voyait les miracles qu'il opérait sur les malades.
6:2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.
6.3 Jésus monta sur la montagne, et là il s'assit avec ses disciples.
6:3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.
6.4 Or, la Pâque était proche, la fête des Juifs.
6:4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.
6.5 Ayant levé les yeux, et voyant qu'une grande foule venait à lui, Jésus dit à Philippe: Où achèterons-nous des pains, pour que ces gens aient à manger?
6:5 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he says unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
6.6 Il disait cela pour l'éprouver, car il savait ce qu'il allait faire.
6:6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
6.7 Philippe lui répondit: Les pains qu'on aurait pour deux cents deniers ne suffiraient pas pour que chacun en reçût un peu.
6:7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
6.8 Un de ses disciples, André, frère de Simon Pierre, lui dit:
6:8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, says unto him,
6.9 Il y a ici un jeune garçon qui a cinq pains d'orge et deux poissons; mais qu'est-ce que cela pour tant de gens?
6:9 There is a lad here, which has five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
6.10 Jésus dit: Faites-les asseoir. Il y avait dans ce lieu beaucoup d'herbe. Ils s'assirent donc, au nombre d'environ cinq mille hommes.
6:10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
6.11 Jésus prit les pains, rendit grâces, et les distribua à ceux qui étaient assis; il leur donna de même des poissons, autant qu'ils en voulurent.
6:11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
6.12 Lorsqu'ils furent rassasiés, il dit à ses disciples: Ramassez les morceaux qui restent, afin que rien ne se perde.
6:12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
6.13 Ils les ramassèrent donc, et ils remplirent douze paniers avec les morceaux qui restèrent des cinq pains d'orge, après que tous eurent mangé.
6:13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.
6.14 Ces gens, ayant vu le miracle que Jésus avait fait, disaient: Celui-ci est vraiment le prophète qui doit venir dans le monde.
6:14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is truthfully that prophet that should come into the world.
6.15 Et Jésus, sachant qu'ils allaient venir l'enlever pour le faire roi, se retira de nouveau sur la montagne, lui seul.
6:15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.
6.16 Quand le soir fut venu, ses disciples descendirent au bord de la mer.
6:16 And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,
6.17 Étant montés dans une barque, ils traversaient la mer pour se rendre à Capernaüm. Il faisait déjà nuit, et Jésus ne les avait pas encore rejoints.
6:17 And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.
6.18 Il soufflait un grand vent, et la mer était agitée.
6:18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.
6.19 Après avoir ramé environ vingt-cinq ou trente stades, ils virent Jésus marchant sur la mer et s'approchant de la barque. Et ils eurent peur.
6:19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.
6.20 Mais Jésus leur dit: C'est moi; n'ayez pas peur!
6:20 But he says unto them, It is I; be not afraid.
6.21 Ils voulaient donc le prendre dans la barque, et aussitôt la barque aborda au lieu où ils allaient.
6:21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land where they went.
6.22 La foule qui était restée de l'autre côté de la mer avait remarqué qu'il ne se trouvait là qu'une seule barque, et que Jésus n'était pas monté dans cette barque avec ses disciples, mais qu'ils étaient partis seuls.
6:22 The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, save that one into where his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;
6.23 Le lendemain, comme d'autres barques étaient arrivées de Tibériade près du lieu où ils avaient mangé le pain après que le Seigneur eut rendu grâces,
6:23 (nevertheless there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)
6.24 les gens de la foule, ayant vu que ni Jésus ni ses disciples n'étaient là, montèrent eux-mêmes dans ces barques et allèrent à Capernaüm à la recherche de Jésus.
6:24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also went on board ships, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.
6.25 Et l'ayant trouvé au delà de la mer, ils lui dirent: Rabbi, quand es-tu venu ici?
6:25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when came you here?
6.26 Jésus leur répondit: En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, vous me cherchez, non parce que vous avez vu des miracles, mais parce que vous avez mangé des pains et que vous avez été rassasiés.
6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, All of you seek me, not because all of you saw the miracles, but because all of you did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
6.27 Travaillez, non pour la nourriture qui périt, mais pour celle qui subsiste pour la vie éternelle, et que le Fils de l'homme vous donnera; car c'est lui que le Père, que Dieu a marqué de son sceau.
6:27 Labour not for the food which perishes, but for that food which endures unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him has God the Father sealed.
6.28 Ils lui dirent: Que devons-nous faire, pour faire les oeuvres de Dieu?
6:28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
6.29 Jésus leur répondit: L'oeuvre de Dieu, c'est que vous croyiez en celui qu'il a envoyé.
6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that all of you believe on him whom he has sent.
6.30 Quel miracle fais-tu donc, lui dirent-ils, afin que nous le voyions, et que nous croyions en toi? Que fais-tu?
6:30 They said therefore unto him, What sign show you then, that we may see, and believe you? what do you work?
6.31 Nos pères ont mangé la manne dans le désert, selon ce qui est écrit: Il leur donna le pain du ciel à manger.
6:31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
6.32 Jésus leur dit: En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, Moïse ne vous a pas donné le pain du ciel, mais mon Père vous donne le vrai pain du ciel;
6:32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
6.33 car le pain de Dieu, c'est celui qui descend du ciel et qui donne la vie au monde.
6:33 For the bread of God is he which comes down from heaven, and gives life unto the world.
6.34 Ils lui dirent: Seigneur, donne-nous toujours ce pain.
6:34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
6.35 Jésus leur dit: Je suis le pain de vie. Celui qui vient à moi n'aura jamais faim, et celui qui croit en moi n'aura jamais soif.
6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger; and he that believes on me shall never thirst.
6.36 Mais, je vous l'ai dit, vous m'avez vu, et vous ne croyez point.
6:36 But I said unto you, That all of you also have seen me, and believe not.
6.37 Tous ceux que le Père me donne viendront à moi, et je ne mettrai pas dehors celui qui vient à moi;
6:37 All that the Father gives me shall come to me; and him that comes to me I will in no wise cast out.
6.38 car je suis descendu du ciel pour faire, non ma volonté, mais la volonté de celui qui m'a envoyé.
6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
6.39 Or, la volonté de celui qui m'a envoyé, c'est que je ne perde rien de tout ce qu'il m'a donné, mais que je le ressuscite au dernier jour.
6:39 And this is the Father's will which has sent me, that of all which he has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
6.40 La volonté de mon Père, c'est que quiconque voit le Fils et croit en lui ait la vie éternelle; et je le ressusciterai au dernier jour.
6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which sees the Son, and believes on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
6.41 Les Juifs murmuraient à son sujet, parce qu'il avait dit: Je suis le pain qui est descendu du ciel.
6:41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
6.42 Et ils disaient: N'est-ce pas là Jésus, le fils de Joseph, celui dont nous connaissons le père et la mère? Comment donc dit-il: Je suis descendu du ciel?
6:42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he says, I came down from heaven?
6.43 Jésus leur répondit: Ne murmurez pas entre vous.
6:43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
6.44 Nul ne peut venir à moi, si le Père qui m'a envoyé ne l'attire; et je le ressusciterai au dernier jour.
6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which has sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
6.45 Il est écrit dans les prophètes: Ils seront tous enseignés de Dieu. Ainsi quiconque a entendu le Père et a reçu son enseignement vient à moi.
6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that has heard, and has learned of the Father, comes unto me.
6.46 C'est que nul n'a vu le Père, sinon celui qui vient de Dieu; celui-là a vu le Père.
6:46 Not that any man has seen the Father, save he which is of God, he has seen the Father.
6.47 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, celui qui croit en moi a la vie éternelle.
6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me has everlasting life.
6.48 Je suis le pain de vie.
6:48 I am that bread of life.
6.49 Vos pères ont mangé la manne dans le désert, et ils sont morts.
6:49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
6.50 C'est ici le pain qui descend du ciel, afin que celui qui en mange ne meure point.
6:50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
6.51 Je suis le pain vivant qui est descendu du ciel. Si quelqu'un mange de ce pain, il vivra éternellement; et le pain que je donnerai, c'est ma chair, que je donnerai pour la vie du monde.
6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
6.52 Là-dessus, les Juifs disputaient entre eux, disant: Comment peut-il nous donner sa chair à manger?
6:52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
6.53 Jésus leur dit: En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, si vous ne mangez la chair du Fils de l'homme, et si vous ne buvez son sang, vous n'avez point la vie en vous-mêmes.
6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except all of you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, all of you have no life in you.
6.54 Celui qui mange ma chair et qui boit mon sang a la vie éternelle; et je le ressusciterai au dernier jour.
6:54 Whoso eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, has eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
6.55 Car ma chair est vraiment une nourriture, et mon sang est vraiment un breuvage.
6:55 For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
6.56 Celui qui mange ma chair et qui boit mon sang demeure en moi, et je demeure en lui.
6:56 He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, dwells in me, and I in him.
6.57 Comme le Père qui est vivant m'a envoyé, et que je vis par le Père, ainsi celui qui me mange vivra par moi.
6:57 As the living Father has sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eats me, even he shall live by me.
6.58 C'est ici le pain qui est descendu du ciel. Il n'en est pas comme de vos pères qui ont mangé la manne et qui sont morts: celui qui mange ce pain vivra éternellement.
6:58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eats of this bread shall live for ever.
6.59 Jésus dit ces choses dans la synagogue, enseignant à Capernaüm.
6:59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
6.60 Plusieurs de ses disciples, après l'avoir entendu, dirent: Cette parole est dure; qui peut l'écouter?
6:60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; (o. logos) who can hear it?
6.61 Jésus, sachant en lui-même que ses disciples murmuraient à ce sujet, leur dit: Cela vous scandalise-t-il?
6:61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Does this offend you?
6.62 Et si vous voyez le Fils de l'homme monter où il était auparavant?...
6:62 What and if all of you shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
6.63 C'est l'esprit qui vivifie; la chair ne sert de rien. Les paroles que je vous ai dites sont esprit et vie.
6:63 It is the spirit that gives life; (o. pneuma) the flesh profits nothing: the words (o. rhema) that I speak unto you, they are spirit, (o. pneuma) and they are life.
6.64 Mais il en est parmi vous quelques-uns qui ne croient point. Car Jésus savait dès le commencement qui étaient ceux qui ne croyaient point, et qui était celui qui le livrerait.
6:64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.
6.65 Et il ajouta: C'est pourquoi je vous ai dit que nul ne peut venir à moi, si cela ne lui a été donné par le Père.
6:65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
6.66 Dès ce moment, plusieurs de ses disciples se retirèrent, et ils n'allaient plus avec lui.
6:66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
6.67 Jésus donc dit aux douze: Et vous, ne voulez-vous pas aussi vous en aller?
6:67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will all of you also go away?
6.68 Simon Pierre lui répondit: Seigneur, à qui irions-nous? Tu as les paroles de la vie éternelle.
6:68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? you have the words (o. rhema) of eternal life.
6.69 Et nous avons cru et nous avons connu que tu es le Christ, le Saint de Dieu.
6:69 And we believe and are sure that you are that Christ, the Son of the living God.
6.70 Jésus leur répondit: N'est-ce pas moi qui vous ai choisis, vous les douze? Et l'un de vous est un démon!
6:70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
6.71 Il parlait de Judas Iscariot, fils de Simon; car c'était lui qui devait le livrer, lui, l'un des douze.
6:71 He spoke of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
7.1 Après cela, Jésus parcourait la Galilée, car il ne voulait pas séjourner en Judée, parce que les Juifs cherchaient à le faire mourir.
7:1 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.
7.2 Or, la fête des Juifs, la fête des Tabernacles, était proche.
7:2 Now the Jew's feast of tabernacles was at hand.
7.3 Et ses frères lui dirent: Pars d'ici, et va en Judée, afin que tes disciples voient aussi les oeuvres que tu fais.
7:3 His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart behind, and go into Judaea, that your disciples also may see the works that you do.
7.4 Personne n'agit en secret, lorsqu'il désire paraître: si tu fais ces choses, montre-toi toi-même au monde.
7:4 For there is no man that does any thing in secret, and he himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world.
7.5 Car ses frères non plus ne croyaient pas en lui.
7:5 For neither did his brethren believe in him.
7.6 Jésus leur dit: Mon temps n'est pas encore venu, mais votre temps est toujours prêt.
7:6 Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is always ready.
7.7 Le monde ne peut vous haïr; moi, il me hait, parce que je rends de lui le témoignage que ses oeuvres sont mauvaises.
7:7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hates, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.
7.8 Montez, vous, à cette fête; pour moi, je n'y monte point, parce que mon temps n'est pas encore accompli.
7:8 Go all of you up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast: for my time is not yet full come.
7.9 Après leur avoir dit cela, il resta en Galilée.
7:9 When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.
7.10 Lorsque ses frères furent montés à la fête, il y monta aussi lui-même, non publiquement, mais comme en secret.
7:10 But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.
7.11 Les Juifs le cherchaient pendant la fête, et disaient: Où est-il?
7:11 Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?
7.12 Il y avait dans la foule grande rumeur à son sujet. Les uns disaient: C'est un homme de bien. D'autres disaient: Non, il égare la multitude.
7:12 And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceives the people.
7.13 Personne, toutefois, ne parlait librement de lui, par crainte des Juifs.
7:13 Nevertheless no man spoke openly of him for fear of the Jews.
7.14 Vers le milieu de la fête, Jésus monta au temple. Et il enseignait.
7:14 Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.
7.15 Les Juifs s'étonnaient, disant: Comment connaît-il les Écritures, lui qui n'a point étudié?
7:15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knows this man letters, having never learned?
7.16 Jésus leur répondit: Ma doctrine n'est pas de moi, mais de celui qui m'a envoyé.
7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
7.17 Si quelqu'un veut faire sa volonté, il connaîtra si ma doctrine est de Dieu, ou si je parle de mon chef.
7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
7.18 Celui qui parle de son chef cherche sa propre gloire; mais celui qui cherche la gloire de celui qui l'a envoyé, celui-là est vrai, et il n'y a point d'injustice en lui.
7:18 He that speaks of himself seeks his own glory: but he that seeks his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
7.19 Moïse ne vous a-t-il pas donné la loi? Et nul de vous n'observe la loi. Pourquoi cherchez-vous à me faire mourir?
7:19 Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why go all of you about to kill me?
7.20 La foule répondit: Tu as un démon. Qui est-ce qui cherche à te faire mourir?
7:20 The people answered and said, You have a devil: who goes about to kill you?
7.21 Jésus leur répondit: J'ai fait une oeuvre, et vous en êtes tous étonnés.
7:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and all of you all marvel.
7.22 Moïse vous a donné la circoncision, -non qu'elle vienne de Moïse, car elle vient des patriarches, -et vous circoncisez un homme le jour du sabbat.
7:22 Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and all of you on the sabbath day circumcise a man.
7.23 Si un homme reçoit la circoncision le jour du sabbat, afin que la loi de Moïse ne soit pas violée, pourquoi vous irritez-vous contre moi de ce que j'ai guéri un homme tout entier le jour du sabbat?
7:23 If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are all of you angry at me, because I have made a man everything whole on the sabbath day?
7.24 Ne jugez pas selon l'apparence, mais jugez selon la justice.
7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
7.25 Quelques habitants de Jérusalem disaient: N'est-ce pas là celui qu'ils cherchent à faire mourir?
7:25 Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?
7.26 Et voici, il parle librement, et ils ne lui disent rien! Est-ce que vraiment les chefs auraient reconnu qu'il est le Christ?
7:26 But, lo, he speaks boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?
7.27 Cependant celui-ci, nous savons d'où il est; mais le Christ, quand il viendra, personne ne saura d'où il est.
7:27 Nevertheless we know this man whence he is: but when Christ comes, no man knows whence he is.
7.28 Et Jésus, enseignant dans le temple, s'écria: Vous me connaissez, et vous savez d'où je suis! Je ne suis pas venu de moi-même: mais celui qui m'a envoyé est vrai, et vous ne le connaissez pas.
7:28 Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, All of you both know me, and all of you know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom all of you know not.
7.29 Moi, je le connais; car je viens de lui, et c'est lui qui m'a envoyé.
7:29 But I know him: for I am from him, and he has sent me.
7.30 Ils cherchaient donc à se saisir de lui, et personne ne mit la main sur lui, parce que son heure n'était pas encore venue.
7:30 Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.
7.31 Plusieurs parmi la foule crurent en lui, et ils disaient: Le Christ, quand il viendra, fera-t-il plus de miracles que n'en a fait celui-ci?
7:31 And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ comes, will he do more miracles than these which this man has done?
7.32 Les pharisiens entendirent la foule murmurant de lui ces choses. Alors les principaux sacrificateurs et les pharisiens envoyèrent des huissiers pour le saisir.
7:32 The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.
7.33 Jésus dit: Je suis encore avec vous pour un peu de temps, puis je m'en vais vers celui qui m'a envoyé.
7:33 Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.
7.34 Vous me chercherez et vous ne me trouverez pas, et vous ne pouvez venir où je serai.
7:34 All of you shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither all of you cannot come.
7.35 Sur quoi les Juifs dirent entre eux: Où ira-t-il, que nous ne le trouvions pas? Ira-t-il parmi ceux qui sont dispersés chez les Grecs, et enseignera-t-il les Grecs?
7:35 Then said the Jews among themselves, Where will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?
7.36 Que signifie cette parole qu'il a dite: Vous me chercherez et vous ne me trouverez pas, et vous ne pouvez venir où je serai?
7:36 What manner of saying (o. logos) is this that he said, All of you shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither all of you cannot come?
7.37 Le dernier jour, le grand jour de la fête, Jésus, se tenant debout, s'écria: Si quelqu'un a soif, qu'il vienne à moi, et qu'il boive.
7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
7.38 Celui qui croit en moi, des fleuves d'eau vive couleront de son sein, comme dit l'Écriture.
7:38 He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
7.39 Il dit cela de l'Esprit que devaient recevoir ceux qui croiraient en lui; car l'Esprit n'était pas encore, parce que Jésus n'avait pas encore été glorifié.
7:39 (But this spoke he of the Spirit, (o. pneuma) which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Spirit (o. pneuma) was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
7.40 Des gens de la foule, ayant entendu ces paroles, disaient: Celui-ci est vraiment le prophète.
7:40 Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, (o. logos) said, Truthfully this is the Prophet.
7.41 D'autres disaient: C'est le Christ. Et d'autres disaient: Est-ce bien de la Galilée que doit venir le Christ?
7:41 Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?
7.42 L'Écriture ne dit-elle pas que c'est de la postérité de David, et du village de Bethléhem, où était David, que le Christ doit venir?
7:42 Has not the scripture said, That Christ comes of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?
7.43 Il y eut donc, à cause de lui, division parmi la foule.
7:43 So there was a division among the people because of him.
7.44 Quelques-uns d'entre eux voulaient le saisir, mais personne ne mit la main sur lui.
7:44 And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.
7.45 Ainsi les huissiers retournèrent vers les principaux sacrificateurs et les pharisiens. Et ceux-ci leur dirent: Pourquoi ne l'avez-vous pas amené?
7:45 Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have all of you not brought him?
7.46 Les huissiers répondirent: Jamais homme n'a parlé comme cet homme.
7:46 The officers answered, Never man spoke like this man.
7.47 Les pharisiens leur répliquèrent: Est-ce que vous aussi, vous avez été séduits?
7:47 Then answered them the Pharisees, Are all of you also deceived?
7.48 Y a-t-il quelqu'un des chefs ou des pharisiens qui ait cru en lui?
7:48 Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?
7.49 Mais cette foule qui ne connaît pas la loi, ce sont des maudits!
7:49 But this people who knows not the law are cursed.
7.50 Nicodème, qui était venu de nuit vers Jésus, et qui était l'un d'entre eux, leur dit:
7:50 Nicodemus says unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)
7.51 Notre loi condamne-t-elle un homme avant qu'on l'entende et qu'on sache ce qu'il a fait?
7:51 Does our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he does?
7.52 Ils lui répondirent: Es-tu aussi Galiléen? Examine, et tu verras que de la Galilée il ne sort point de prophète.
7:52 They answered and said unto him, Are you also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee arises no prophet.
7.53 Et chacun s'en retourna dans sa maison.
7:53 And every man went unto his own house.
8.1 Jésus se rendit à la montagne des oliviers.
8:1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
8.2 Mais, dès le matin, il alla de nouveau dans le temple, et tout le peuple vint à lui. S'étant assis, il les enseignait.
8:2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
8.3 Alors les scribes et les pharisiens amenèrent une femme surprise en adultère;
8:3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
8.4 et, la plaçant au milieu du peuple, ils dirent à Jésus: Maître, cette femme a été surprise en flagrant délit d'adultère.
8:4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
8.5 Moïse, dans la loi, nous a ordonné de lapider de telles femmes: toi donc, que dis-tu?
8:5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what says you?
8.6 Ils disaient cela pour l'éprouver, afin de pouvoir l'accuser. Mais Jésus, s'étant baissé, écrivait avec le doigt sur la terre.
8:6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
8.7 Comme ils continuaient à l'interroger, il se releva et leur dit: Que celui de vous qui est sans péché jette le premier la pierre contre elle.
8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8.8 Et s'étant de nouveau baissé, il écrivait sur la terre.
8:8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
8.9 Quand ils entendirent cela, accusés par leur conscience, ils se retirèrent un à un, depuis les plus âgés jusqu'aux derniers; et Jésus resta seul avec la femme qui était là au milieu.
8:9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
8.10 Alors s'étant relevé, et ne voyant plus que la femme, Jésus lui dit: Femme, où sont ceux qui t'accusaient? Personne ne t'a-t-il condamnée?
8:10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those yours accusers? has no man condemned you?
8.11 Elle répondit: Non, Seigneur. Et Jésus lui dit: Je ne te condamne pas non plus: va, et ne pèche plus.
8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn you: go, and sin no more.
8.12 Jésus leur parla de nouveau, et dit: Je suis la lumière du monde; celui qui me suit ne marchera pas dans les ténèbres, mais il aura la lumière de la vie.
8:12 Then spoke Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
8.13 Là-dessus, les pharisiens lui dirent: Tu rends témoignage de toi-même; ton témoignage n'est pas vrai.
8:13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, You bear record of yourself; your record is not true.
8.14 Jésus leur répondit: Quoique je rende témoignage de moi-même, mon témoignage est vrai, car je sais d'où je suis venu et où je vais; mais vous, vous ne savez d'où je viens ni où je vais.
8:14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and where I go; but all of you cannot tell whence I come, and where I go.
8.15 Vous jugez selon la chair; moi, je ne juge personne.
8:15 All of you judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
8.16 Et si je juge, mon jugement est vrai, car je ne suis pas seul; mais le Père qui m'a envoyé est avec moi.
8:16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
8.17 Il est écrit dans votre loi que le témoignage de deux hommes est vrai;
8:17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
8.18 je rends témoignage de moi-même, et le Père qui m'a envoyé rend témoignage de moi.
8:18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me bears witness of me.
8.19 Ils lui dirent donc: Où est ton Père? Jésus répondit: Vous ne connaissez ni moi, ni mon Père. Si vous me connaissiez, vous connaîtriez aussi mon Père.
8:19 Then said they unto him, Where is your Father? Jesus answered, All of you neither know me, nor my Father: if all of you had known me, all of you should have known my Father also.
8.20 Jésus dit ces paroles, enseignant dans le temple, au lieu où était le trésor; et personne ne le saisit, parce que son heure n'était pas encore venue.
8:20 These words (o. rhema) spoke Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.
8.21 Jésus leur dit encore: Je m'en vais, et vous me chercherez, et vous mourrez dans votre péché; vous ne pouvez venir où je vais.
8:21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and all of you shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: where I go, all of you cannot come.
8.22 Sur quoi les Juifs dirent: Se tuera-t-il lui-même, puisqu'il dit: Vous ne pouvez venir où je vais?
8:22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he says, Where I go, all of you cannot come.
8.23 Et il leur dit: Vous êtes d'en bas; moi, je suis d'en haut. Vous êtes de ce monde; moi, je ne suis pas de ce monde.
8:23 And he said unto them, All of you are from beneath; I am from above: all of you are of this world; I am not of this world.
8.24 C'est pourquoi je vous ai dit que vous mourrez dans vos péchés; car si vous ne croyez pas ce que je suis, vous mourrez dans vos péchés.
8:24 I said therefore unto you, that all of you shall die in your sins: for if all of you believe not that I am he, all of you shall die in your sins.
8.25 Qui es-tu? lui dirent-ils. Jésus leur répondit: Ce que je vous dis dès le commencement.
8:25 Then said they unto him, Who are you? And Jesus says unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.
8.26 J'ai beaucoup de choses à dire de vous et à juger en vous; mais celui qui m'a envoyé est vrai, et ce que j'ai entendu de lui, je le dis au monde.
8:26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
8.27 Ils ne comprirent point qu'il leur parlait du Père.
8:27 They understood not that he spoke to them of the Father.
8.28 Jésus donc leur dit: Quand vous aurez élevé le Fils de l'homme, alors vous connaîtrez ce que je suis, et que je ne fais rien de moi-même, mais que je parle selon ce que le Père m'a enseigné.
8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When all of you have lifted up the Son of man, then shall all of you know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father has taught me, I speak these things.
8.29 Celui qui m'a envoyé est avec moi; il ne m'a pas laissé seul, parce que je fais toujours ce qui lui est agréable.
8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father has not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
8.30 Comme Jésus parlait ainsi, plusieurs crurent en lui.
8:30 As he spoke these words, many believed on him.
8.31 Et il dit aux Juifs qui avaient cru en lui: Si vous demeurez dans ma parole, vous êtes vraiment mes disciples;
8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If all of you continue in my word, (o. logos) then are all of you my disciples indeed;
8.32 vous connaîtrez la vérité, et la vérité vous affranchira.
8:32 And all of you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
8.33 Ils lui répondirent: Nous sommes la postérité d'Abraham, et nous ne fûmes jamais esclaves de personne; comment dis-tu: Vous deviendrez libres?
8:33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how says you, All of you shall be made free?
8.34 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, leur répliqua Jésus, quiconque se livre au péché est esclave du péché.
8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin.
8.35 Or, l'esclave ne demeure pas toujours dans la maison; le fils y demeure toujours.
8:35 And the servant abides not in the house for ever: but the Son abides ever.
8.36 Si donc le Fils vous affranchit, vous serez réellement libres.
8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, all of you shall be free indeed.
8.37 Je sais que vous êtes la postérité d'Abraham; mais vous cherchez à me faire mourir, parce que ma parole ne pénètre pas en vous.
8:37 I know that all of you are Abraham's seed; but all of you seek to kill me, because my word (o. logos) has no place in you.
8.38 Je dis ce que j'ai vu chez mon Père; et vous, vous faites ce que vous avez entendu de la part de votre père.
8:38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and all of you do that which all of you have seen with your father.
8.39 Ils lui répondirent: Notre père, c'est Abraham. Jésus leur dit: Si vous étiez enfants d'Abraham, vous feriez les oeuvres d'Abraham.
8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus says unto them, If all of you were Abraham's children, all of you would do the works of Abraham.
8.40 Mais maintenant vous cherchez à me faire mourir, moi qui vous ai dit la vérité que j'ai entendue de Dieu. Cela, Abraham ne l'a point fait.
8:40 But now all of you seek to kill me, a man that has told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
8.41 Vous faites les oeuvres de votre père. Ils lui dirent: Nous ne sommes pas des enfants illégitimes; nous avons un seul Père, Dieu.
8:41 All of you do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
8.42 Jésus leur dit: Si Dieu était votre Père, vous m'aimeriez, car c'est de Dieu que je suis sorti et que je viens; je ne suis pas venu de moi-même, mais c'est lui qui m'a envoyé.
8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, all of you would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
8.43 Pourquoi ne comprenez-vous pas mon langage? Parce que vous ne pouvez écouter ma parole.
8:43 Why do all of you not understand my speech? even because all of you cannot hear my word. (o. logos)
8.44 Vous avez pour père le diable, et vous voulez accomplir les désirs de votre père. Il a été meurtrier dès le commencement, et il ne se tient pas dans la vérité, parce qu'il n'y a pas de vérité en lui. Lorsqu'il profère le mensonge, il parle de son propre fonds; car il est menteur et le père du mensonge.
8:44 All of you are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father all of you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
8.45 Et moi, parce que je dis la vérité, vous ne me croyez pas.
8:45 And because I tell you the truth, all of you believe me not.
8.46 Qui de vous me convaincra de péché? Si je dis la vérité, pourquoi ne me croyez-vous pas?
8:46 Which of you convinces me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do all of you not believe me?
8.47 Celui qui est de Dieu, écoute les paroles de Dieu; vous n'écoutez pas, parce que vous n'êtes pas de Dieu.
8:47 He that is of God hears God's words: (o. rhema) all of you therefore hear them not, because all of you are not of God.
8.48 Les Juifs lui répondirent: N'avons-nous pas raison de dire que tu es un Samaritain, et que tu as un démon?
8:48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that you are a Samaritan, and have a devil?
8.49 Jésus répliqua: Je n'ai point de démon; mais j'honore mon Père, et vous m'outragez.
8:49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and all of you do dishonour me.
8.50 Je ne cherche point ma gloire; il en est un qui la cherche et qui juge.
8:50 And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeks and judges.
8.51 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, si quelqu'un garde ma parole, il ne verra jamais la mort.
8:51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, (o. logos) he shall never see death.
8.52 Maintenant, lui dirent les Juifs, nous connaissons que tu as un démon. Abraham est mort, les prophètes aussi, et tu dis: Si quelqu'un garde ma parole, il ne verra jamais la mort.
8:52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that you have a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and you says, If a man keep my saying, (o. logos) he shall never taste of death.
8.53 Es-tu plus grand que notre père Abraham, qui est mort? Les prophètes aussi sont morts. Qui prétends-tu être?
8:53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom make you yourself?
8.54 Jésus répondit: Si je me glorifie moi-même, ma gloire n'est rien. C'est mon père qui me glorifie, lui que vous dites être votre Dieu,
8:54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honors me; of whom all of you say, that he is your God:
8.55 et que vous ne connaissez pas. Pour moi, je le connais; et, si je disais que je ne le connais pas, je serais semblable à vous, un menteur. Mais je le connais, et je garde sa parole.
8:55 Yet all of you have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. (o. logos)
8.56 Abraham, votre père, a tressailli de joie de ce qu'il verrait mon jour: il l'a vu, et il s'est réjoui.
8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
8.57 Les Juifs lui dirent: Tu n'as pas encore cinquante ans, et tu as vu Abraham!
8:57 Then said the Jews unto him, You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?
8.58 Jésus leur dit: En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, avant qu'Abraham fût, je suis.
8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
8.59 Là-dessus, ils prirent des pierres pour les jeter contre lui; mais Jésus se cacha, et il sortit du temple.
8:59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
9.1 Jésus vit, en passant, un homme aveugle de naissance.
9:1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
9.2 Ses disciples lui firent cette question: Rabbi, qui a péché, cet homme ou ses parents, pour qu'il soit né aveugle?
9:2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
9.3 Jésus répondit: Ce n'est pas que lui ou ses parents aient péché; mais c'est afin que les oeuvres de Dieu soient manifestées en lui.
9:3 Jesus answered, Neither has this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
9.4 Il faut que je fasse, tandis qu'il est jour, les oeuvres de celui qui m'a envoyé; la nuit vient, où personne ne peut travailler.
9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work.
9.5 Pendant que je suis dans le monde, je suis la lumière du monde.
9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
9.6 Après avoir dit cela, il cracha à terre, et fit de la boue avec sa salive. Puis il appliqua cette boue sur les yeux de l'aveugle,
9:6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
9.7 et lui dit: Va, et lave-toi au réservoir de Siloé (nom qui signifie envoyé). Il y alla, se lava, et s'en retourna voyant clair.
9:7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
9.8 Ses voisins et ceux qui auparavant l'avaient connu comme un mendiant disaient: N'est-ce pas là celui qui se tenait assis et qui mendiait?
9:8 The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
9.9 Les uns disaient: C'est lui. D'autres disaient: Non, mais il lui ressemble. Et lui-même disait: C'est moi.
9:9 Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
9.10 Ils lui dirent donc: Comment tes yeux ont-ils été ouverts?
9:10 Therefore said they unto him, How were yours eyes opened?
9.11 Il répondit: L'Homme qu'on appelle Jésus a fait de la boue, a oint mes yeux, et m'a dit: Va au réservoir de Siloé, et lave-toi. J'y suis allé, je me suis lavé, et j'ai recouvré la vue.
9:11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
9.12 Ils lui dirent: Où est cet homme? Il répondit: Je ne sais.
9:12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
9.13 Ils menèrent vers les pharisiens celui qui avait été aveugle.
9:13 They brought to the Pharisees him that in old times was blind.
9.14 Or, c'était un jour de sabbat que Jésus avait fait de la boue, et lui avait ouvert les yeux.
9:14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
9.15 De nouveau, les pharisiens aussi lui demandèrent comment il avait recouvré la vue. Et il leur dit: Il a appliqué de la boue sur mes yeux, je me suis lavé, et je vois.
9:15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
9.16 Sur quoi quelques-uns des pharisiens dirent: Cet homme ne vient pas de Dieu, car il n'observe pas le sabbat. D'autres dirent: Comment un homme pécheur peut-il faire de tels miracles?
9:16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keeps not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
9.17 Et il y eut division parmi eux. Ils dirent encore à l'aveugle: Toi, que dis-tu de lui, sur ce qu'il t'a ouvert les yeux? Il répondit: C'est un prophète.
9:17 They say unto the blind man again, What says you of him, that he has opened yours eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
9.18 Les Juifs ne crurent point qu'il eût été aveugle et qu'il eût recouvré la vue jusqu'à ce qu'ils eussent fait venir ses parents.
9:18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
9.19 Et ils les interrogèrent, disant: Est-ce là votre fils, que vous dites être né aveugle? Comment donc voit-il maintenant?
9:19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who all of you say was born blind? how then does he now see?
9.20 Ses parents répondirent: Nous savons que c'est notre fils, et qu'il est né aveugle;
9:20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
9.21 mais comment il voit maintenant, ou qui lui a ouvert les yeux, c'est ce que nous ne savons. Interrogez-le lui-même, il a de l'âge, il parlera de ce qui le concerne.
9:21 But by what means he now sees, we know not; or who has opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
9.22 Ses parents dirent cela parce qu'ils craignaient les Juifs; car les Juifs étaient déjà convenus que, si quelqu'un reconnaissait Jésus pour le Christ, il serait exclu de la synagogue.
9:22 These words spoke his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
9.23 C'est pourquoi ses parents dirent: Il a de l'âge, interrogez-le lui-même.
9:23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
9.24 Les pharisiens appelèrent une seconde fois l'homme qui avait été aveugle, et ils lui dirent: Donne gloire à Dieu; nous savons que cet homme est un pécheur.
9:24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
9.25 Il répondit: S'il est un pécheur, je ne sais; je sais une chose, c'est que j'étais aveugle et que maintenant je vois.
9:25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
9.26 Ils lui dirent: Que t'a-t-il fait? Comment t'a-t-il ouvert les yeux?
9:26 Then said they to him again, What did he to you? how opened he yours eyes?
9.27 Il leur répondit: Je vous l'ai déjà dit, et vous n'avez pas écouté; pourquoi voulez-vous l'entendre encore? Voulez-vous aussi devenir ses disciples?
9:27 He answered them, I have told you already, and all of you did not hear: wherefore would all of you hear it again? will all of you also be his disciples?
9.28 Ils l'injurièrent et dirent: C'est toi qui es son disciple; nous, nous sommes disciples de Moïse.
9:28 Then they reviled him, and said, You are his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.
9.29 Nous savons que Dieu a parlé à Moïse; mais celui-ci, nous ne savons d'où il est.
9:29 We know that God spoke unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.
9.30 Cet homme leur répondit: Il est étonnant que vous ne sachiez d'où il est; et cependant il m'a ouvert les yeux.
9:30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that all of you know not from whence he is, and yet he has opened mine eyes.
9.31 Nous savons que Dieu n'exauce point les pécheurs; mais, si quelqu'un l'honore et fait sa volonté, c'est celui là qu'il l'exauce.
9:31 Now we know that God hears not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and does his will, him he hears.
9.32 Jamais on n'a entendu dire que quelqu'un ait ouvert les yeux d'un aveugle-né.
9:32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
9.33 Si cet homme ne venait pas de Dieu, il ne pourrait rien faire.
9:33 If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
9.34 Ils lui répondirent: Tu es né tout entier dans le péché, et tu nous enseignes! Et ils le chassèrent.
9:34 They answered and said unto him, You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us? And they cast him out.
9.35 Jésus apprit qu'ils l'avaient chassé; et, l'ayant rencontré, il lui dit: Crois-tu au Fils de Dieu?
9:35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Do you believe on the Son of God?
9.36 Il répondit: Et qui est-il, Seigneur, afin que je croie en lui?
9:36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
9.37 Tu l'as vu, lui dit Jésus, et celui qui te parle, c'est lui.
9:37 And Jesus said unto him, You have both seen him, and it is he that talks with you.
9.38 Et il dit: Je crois, Seigneur. Et il se prosterna devant lui.
9:38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
9.39 Puis Jésus dit: Je suis venu dans ce monde pour un jugement, pour que ceux qui ne voient point voient, et que ceux qui voient deviennent aveugles.
9:39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
9.40 Quelques pharisiens qui étaient avec lui, ayant entendu ces paroles, lui dirent: Nous aussi, sommes-nous aveugles?
9:40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
9.41 Jésus leur répondit: Si vous étiez aveugles, vous n'auriez pas de péché. Mais maintenant vous dites: Nous voyons. C'est pour cela que votre péché subsiste.
9:41 Jesus said unto them, If all of you were blind, all of you should have no sin: but now all of you say, We see; therefore your sin remains.
10.1 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, celui qui n'entre pas par la porte dans la bergerie, mais qui y monte par ailleurs, est un voleur et un brigand.
10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that enters not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
10.2 Mais celui qui entre par la porte est le berger des brebis.
10:2 But he that enters in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
10.3 Le portier lui ouvre, et les brebis entendent sa voix; il appelle par leur nom les brebis qui lui appartiennent, et il les conduit dehors.
10:3 To him the gate keeper opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.
10.4 Lorsqu'il a fait sortir toutes ses propres brebis, il marche devant elles; et les brebis le suivent, parce qu'elles connaissent sa voix.
10:4 And when he puts forth his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
10.5 Elles ne suivront point un étranger; mais elles fuiront loin de lui, parce qu'elles ne connaissent pas la voix des étrangers.
10:5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
10.6 Jésus leur dit cette parabole, mais ils ne comprirent pas de quoi il leur parlait.
10:6 This parable spoke Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spoke unto them.
10.7 Jésus leur dit encore: En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, je suis la porte des brebis.
10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
10.8 Tous ceux qui sont venus avant moi sont des voleurs et des brigands; mais les brebis ne les ont point écoutés.
10:8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
10.9 Je suis la porte. Si quelqu'un entre par moi, il sera sauvé; il entrera et il sortira, et il trouvera des pâturages.
10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10.10 Le voleur ne vient que pour dérober, égorger et détruire; moi, je suis venu afin que les brebis aient la vie, et qu'elles soient dans l'abondance.
10:10 The thief comes not, but in order to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
10.11 Je suis le bon berger. Le bon berger donne sa vie pour ses brebis.
10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.
10.12 Mais le mercenaire, qui n'est pas le berger, et à qui n'appartiennent pas les brebis, voit venir le loup, abandonne les brebis, et prend la fuite; et le loup les ravit et les disperse.
10:12 But he that is a worker, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and left the sheep, and flees: and the wolf catches them, and scatters the sheep.
10.13 Le mercenaire s'enfuit, parce qu'il est mercenaire, et qu'il ne se met point en peine des brebis. Je suis le bon berger.
10:13 The worker flees, because he is a worker, and cares not for the sheep.
10.14 Je connais mes brebis, et elles me connaissent,
10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
10.15 comme le Père me connaît et comme je connais le Père; et je donne ma vie pour mes brebis.
10:15 As the Father knows me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
10.16 J'ai encore d'autres brebis, qui ne sont pas de cette bergerie; celles-là, il faut que je les amène; elles entendront ma voix, et il y aura un seul troupeau, un seul berger.
10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
10.17 Le Père m'aime, parce que je donne ma vie, afin de la reprendre.
10:17 Therefore does my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
10.18 Personne ne me l'ôte, mais je la donne de moi-même; j'ai le pouvoir de la donner, et j'ai le pouvoir de la reprendre: tel est l'ordre que j'ai reçu de mon Père.
10:18 No man takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
10.19 Il y eut de nouveau, à cause de ces paroles, division parmi les Juifs.
10:19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings. (o. logos)
10.20 Plusieurs d'entre eux disaient: Il a un démon, il est fou; pourquoi l'écoutez-vous?
10:20 And many of them said, He has a devil, and is mad; why hear all of you him?
10.21 D'autres disaient: Ce ne sont pas les paroles d'un démoniaque; un démon peut-il ouvrir les yeux des aveugles?
10:21 Others said, These are not the words (o. rhema) of him that has a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
10.22 On célébrait à Jérusalem la fête de la Dédicace. C'était l'hiver.
10:22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
10.23 Et Jésus se promenait dans le temple, sous le portique de Salomon.
10:23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.
10.24 Les Juifs l'entourèrent, et lui dirent: Jusques à quand tiendras-tu notre esprit en suspens? Si tu es le Christ, dis-le nous franchement.
10:24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long do you make us to doubt? If you be the Christ, tell us plainly.
10.25 Jésus leur répondit: Je vous l'ai dit, et vous ne croyez pas. Les oeuvres que je fais au nom de mon Père rendent témoignage de moi.
10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and all of you believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
10.26 Mais vous ne croyez pas, parce que vous n'êtes pas de mes brebis.
10:26 But all of you believe not, because all of you are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
10.27 Mes brebis entendent ma voix; je les connais, et elles me suivent.
10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
10.28 Je leur donne la vie éternelle; et elles ne périront jamais, et personne ne les ravira de ma main.
10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
10.29 Mon Père, qui me les a données, est plus grand que tous; et personne ne peut les ravir de la main de mon Père.
10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
10.30 Moi et le Père nous sommes un.
10:30 I and my Father are one.
10.31 Alors les Juifs prirent de nouveau des pierres pour le lapider.
10:31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
10.32 Jésus leur dit: Je vous ai fait voir plusieurs bonnes oeuvres venant de mon Père: pour laquelle me lapidez-vous?
10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from my Father; for which of those works do all of you stone me?
10.33 Les Juifs lui répondirent: Ce n'est point pour une bonne oeuvre que nous te lapidons, mais pour un blasphème, et parce que toi, qui es un homme, tu te fais Dieu.
10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone you not; but for blasphemy; and because that you, being a man, make yourself God.
10.34 Jésus leur répondit: N'est-il pas écrit dans votre loi: J'ai dit: Vous êtes des dieux?
10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, All of you are gods?
10.35 Si elle a appelé dieux ceux à qui la parole de Dieu a été adressée, et si l'Écriture ne peut être anéantie,
10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word (o. logos) of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
10.36 celui que le Père a sanctifié et envoyé dans le monde, vous lui dites: Tu blasphèmes! Et cela parce que j'ai dit: Je suis le Fils de Dieu.
10:36 Say all of you of him, whom the Father has sanctified, and sent into the world, You blaspheme; because I said, I am the Son of God?
10.37 Si je ne fais pas les oeuvres de mon Père, ne me croyez pas.
10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
10.38 Mais si je les fais, quand même vous ne me croyez point, croyez à ces oeuvres, afin que vous sachiez et reconnaissiez que le Père est en moi et que je suis dans le Père.
10:38 But if I do, though all of you believe not me, believe the works: that all of you may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
10.39 Là-dessus, ils cherchèrent encore à le saisir, mais il s'échappa de leurs mains.
10:39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
10.40 Jésus s'en alla de nouveau au delà du Jourdain, dans le lieu où Jean avait d'abord baptisé. Et il y demeura.
10:40 And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.
10.41 Beaucoup de gens vinrent à lui, et ils disaient: Jean n'a fait aucun miracle; mais tout ce que Jean a dit de cet homme était vrai.
10:41 And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spoke of this man were true.
10.42 Et, dans ce lieu-là, plusieurs crurent en lui.
10:42 And many believed on him there.
