1:1 The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,
1 Riwayat Nehemia bin Hakhalya. Pada bulan Kislew tahun kedua puluh, ketika aku ada di puri Susan,
1:2 That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.
2 datanglah Hanani, salah seorang dari saudara-saudaraku dengan beberapa orang dari Yehuda. Aku menanyakan mereka tentang orang-orang Yahudi yang terluput, yang terhindar dari penawanan dan tentang Yerusalem.
1:3 And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.
3 Kata mereka kepadaku: "Orang-orang yang masih tinggal di daerah sana, yang terhindar dari penawanan, ada dalam kesukaran besar dan dalam keadaan tercela. Tembok Yerusalem telah terbongkar dan pintu-pintu gerbangnya telah terbakar."
1:4 And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,
4 Ketika kudengar berita ini, duduklah aku menangis dan berkabung selama beberapa hari. Aku berpuasa dan berdoa ke hadirat Allah semesta langit,
1:5 And said, I plead to you, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keeps covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:
5 kataku: "Ya, TUHAN, Allah semesta langit, Allah yang maha besar dan dahsyat, yang berpegang pada perjanjian dan kasih setia-Nya terhadap orang yang kasih kepada-Nya dan tetap mengikuti perintah-perintah-Nya,
1:6 Let yours ear now be attentive, and yours eyes open, that you may hear the prayer of your servant, which I pray before you now, day and night, for the children of Israel your servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against you: both I and my father's house have sinned.
6 berilah telinga-Mu dan bukalah mata-Mu dan dengarkanlah doa hamba-Mu yang sekarang kupanjatkan ke hadirat-Mu siang dan malam bagi orang Israel, hamba-hamba-Mu itu, dengan mengaku segala dosa yang kami orang Israel telah lakukan terhadap-Mu. Juga aku dan kaum keluargaku telah berbuat dosa.
1:7 We have dealt very corruptly against you, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which you commandedst your servant Moses.
7 Kami telah sangat bersalah terhadap-Mu dan tidak mengikuti perintah-perintah, ketetapan-ketetapan dan peraturan-peraturan yang telah Kauperintahkan kepada Musa, hamba-Mu itu.
1:8 Remember, I plead to you, the word that you commandedst your servant Moses, saying, If all of you transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:
8 Ingatlah akan firman yang Kaupesan kepada Musa, hamba-Mu itu, yakni: Bila kamu berubah setia, kamu akan Kucerai-beraikan di antara bangsa-bangsa.
1:9 But if all of you turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.
9 Tetapi, bila kamu berbalik kepada-Ku dan tetap mengikuti perintah-perintah-serta melakukannya, maka sekalipun orang-orang buanganmu ada di ujung langit, akan Kukumpulkan mereka kembali dan Kubawa ke tempat yang telah Kupilih untuk membuat nama-Ku diam di sana.
1:10 Now these are your servants and your people, whom you have redeemed by your great power, and by your strong hand.
10 Bukankah mereka ini hamba-hamba-Mu dan umat-Mu yang telah Kaubebaskan dengan kekuatan-Mu yang besar dan dengan tangan-Mu yang kuat?
1:11 O LORD, I plead to you, let now yours ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants, who desire to fear your name: and prosper, I pray you, your servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king's cupbearer.
11 Ya, Tuhan, berilah telinga kepada doa hamba-Mu ini dan kepada doa hamba-hamba-Mu yang rela takut akan nama-Mu, dan biarlah hamba-Mu berhasil hari ini dan mendapat belas kasihan dari orang ini." Ketika itu aku ini juru minuman raja.
2:1 And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been in time past sad in his presence.
1 Pada bulan Nisan tahun kedua puluh pemerintahan raja Artahsasta, ketika menjadi tugasku untuk menyediakan anggur, aku mengangkat anggur dan menyampaikannya kepada raja. Karena aku kelihatan sedih, yang memang belum pernah terjadi di hadapan raja,
2:2 Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is your countenance sad, seeing you are not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid,
2 bertanyalah ia kepadaku: "Mengapa mukamu muram, walaupun engkau tidak sakit? Engkau tentu sedih hati." Lalu aku menjadi sangat takut.
2:3 And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchers, lies waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?
3 Jawabku kepada raja: "Hiduplah raja untuk selamanya! Bagaimana mukaku tidak akan muram, kalau kota, tempat pekuburan nenek moyangku, telah menjadi reruntuhan dan pintu-pintu gerbangnya habis dimakan api?"
2:4 Then the king said unto me, For what do you make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.
4 Lalu kata raja kepadaku: "Jadi, apa yang kauinginkan?" Maka aku berdoa kepada Allah semesta langit,
2:5 And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if your servant have found favour in your sight, that you would send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' sepulchers, that I may build it.
5 kemudian jawabku kepada raja: "Jika raja menganggap baik dan berkenan kepada hambamu ini, utuslah aku ke Yehuda, ke kota pekuburan nenek moyangku, supaya aku membangunnya kembali."
2:6 And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall your journey be? and when will you return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.
6 Lalu bertanyalah raja kepadaku, sedang permaisuri duduk di sampingnya: "Berapa lama engkau dalam perjalanan, dan bilakah engkau kembali?" Dan raja berkenan mengutus aku, sesudah aku menyebut suatu jangka waktu kepadanya.
2:7 Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the river, that they may convey me over till I come into Judah;
7 Berkatalah aku kepada raja: "Jika raja menganggap baik, berikanlah aku surat-surat bagi bupati-bupati di daerah seberang sungai Efrat, supaya mereka memperbolehkan aku lalu sampai aku tiba di Yehuda.
2:8 And a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which appertained to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.
8 Pula sepucuk surat bagi Asaf, pengawas taman raja, supaya dia memberikan aku kayu untuk memasang balok-balok pada pintu-pintu gerbang di benteng bait suci, untuk tembok kota dan untuk rumah yang akan kudiami." Dan raja mengabulkan permintaanku itu, karena tangan Allahku yang murah melindungi aku.
2:9 Then I came to the governors beyond the river, and gave them the king's letters. Now the king had sent captains of the army and horsemen with me.
9 Maka datanglah aku kepada bupati-bupati di daerah seberang sungai Efrat dan menyerahkan kepada mereka surat-surat raja. Dan raja menyuruh panglima-panglima perang dan orang-orang berkuda menyertai aku.
2:10 When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.
10 Ketika Sanbalat, orang Horon, dan Tobia, orang Amon, pelayan itu, mendengar hal itu, mereka sangat kesal karena ada orang yang datang mengusahakan kesejahteraan orang Israel.
2:11 So I came to Jerusalem, and was there three days.
11 Maka tibalah aku di Yerusalem. Sesudah tiga hari aku di sana,
2:12 And I arose in the night, I and some few men with me; neither told I any man what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem: neither was there any beast with me, save the beast that I rode upon.
12 bangunlah aku pada malam hari bersama-sama beberapa orang saja yang menyertai aku. Aku tidak beritahukan kepada siapapun rencana yang akan kulakukan untuk Yerusalem, yang diberikan Allahku dalam hatiku. Juga tak ada lain binatang kepadaku kecuali yang kutunggangi.
2:13 And I went out by night by the gate of the valley, even before the dragon well, and to the dung port, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and the gates thereof were consumed with fire.
13 Demikian pada malam hari aku keluar melalui pintu gerbang Lebak, ke jurusan mata air Ular Naga dan pintu gerbang Sampah. Aku menyelidiki dengan seksama tembok-tembok Yerusalem yang telah terbongkar dan pintu-pintu gerbangnya yang habis dimakan api.
2:14 Then I went on to the gate of the fountain, and to the king's pool: but there was no place for the beast that was under me to pass.
14 Lalu aku meneruskan perjalananku ke pintu gerbang Mata Air dan ke kolam Raja. Karena binatang yang kutunggangi tidak dapat lalu di tempat itu,
2:15 Then went I up in the night by the brook, and viewed the wall, and turned back, and entered by the gate of the valley, and so returned.
15 aku naik ke atas melalui wadi pada malam hari dan menyelidiki dengan seksama tembok itu. Kemudian aku kembali, lalu masuk melalui pintu gerbang Lebak. Demikianlah aku pulang.
2:16 And the rulers knew not where I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest that did the work.
16 Para penguasa tidak tahu ke mana aku telah pergi dan apa yang telah kulakukan, karena sampai kini aku belum memberitahukan apa-apa kepada orang Yahudi, baik kepada para imam, maupun kepada para pemuka, kepada para penguasa dan para petugas lainnya.
2:17 Then said I unto them, All of you see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.
17 Berkatalah aku kepada mereka: "Kamu lihat kemalangan yang kita alami, yakni Yerusalem telah menjadi reruntuhan dan pintu-pintu gerbangnya telah terbakar. Mari, kita bangun kembali tembok Yerusalem, supaya kita tidak lagi dicela."
2:18 Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king's words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.
18 Ketika kuberitahukan kepada mereka, betapa murahnya tangan Allahku yang melindungi aku dan juga apa yang dikatakan raja kepadaku, berkatalah mereka: "Kami siap untuk membangun!" Dan dengan sekuat tenaga mereka mulai melakukan pekerjaan yang baik itu.
2:19 But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that all of you do? will all of you rebel against the king?
19 Ketika Sanbalat, orang Horon, dan Tobia, orang Amon, pelayan itu, dan Gesyem, orang Arab, mendengar itu, mereka mengolok-olokkan dan menghina kami. Kata mereka: "Apa yang kamu lakukan itu? Apa kamu mau berontak terhadap raja?"
2:20 Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but all of you have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.
20 Aku menjawab mereka, kataku: "Allah semesta langit, Dialah yang membuat kami berhasil! Kami, hamba-hamba-Nya, telah siap untuk membangun. Tetapi kamu tak punya bagian atau hak dan tidak akan diingat di Yerusalem!"
3:1 Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they built the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel.
1 Maka bersiaplah imam besar Elyasib dan para imam, saudara-saudaranya, lalu membangun kembali pintu gerbang Domba. Mereka mentahbiskannya dan memasang pintu-pintunya. Mereka mentahbiskannya sampai menara Mea, menara Hananeel.
3:2 And next unto him built the men of Jericho. And next to them built Zaccur the son of Imri.
2 Berdekatan dengan mereka orang-orang Yerikho membangun, dan berdekatan dengan orang-orang itu Zakur bin Imri.
3:3 But the fish gate did the sons of Hassenaah build, who also laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
3 Pintu gerbang Ikan dibangun oleh bani Senaa. Mereka memasang balok-balok lalu memasang pintu-pintunya dengan pengancing-pengancing dan palang-palangnya.
3:4 And next unto them repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah, the son of Koz. And next unto them repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabeel. And next unto them repaired Zadok the son of Baana.
4 Berdekatan dengan mereka Meremot bin Uria bin Hakos mengadakan perbaikan, dan berdekatan dengan dia Mesulam bin Berekhya bin Mesezabeel. Berdekatan dengan dia Zadok bin Baana mengadakan perbaikan,
3:5 And next unto them the Tekoites repaired; but their nobles put not their necks to the work of their LORD.
5 dan berdekatan dengan dia orang-orang Tekoa. Hanya pemuka-pemuka mereka tidak mau memberi bahunya untuk pekerjaan tuan mereka.
3:6 Moreover the old gate repaired Jehoiada the son of Paseah, and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah; they laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, and the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
6 Pintu gerbang Lama diperbaiki oleh Yoyada bin Paseah dan Mesulam bin Besoja. Mereka memasang balok-balok lalu memasang pintu-pintunya dengan pengancing-pengancing dan palang-palangnya.
3:7 And next unto them repaired Melatiah the Gibeonite, and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon, and of Mizpah, unto the throne of the governor on this side the river.
7 Berdekatan dengan mereka Melaca, orang Gibeon, dan Yadon, orang Meronot, mengadakan perbaikan beserta orang-orang Gibeon dan Mizpa, yang berada di wilayah kekuasaan bupati daerah sebelah barat sungai Efrat.
3:8 Next unto him repaired Uzziel the son of Harhaiah, of the goldsmiths. Next unto him also repaired Hananiah the son of one of the apothecaries, and they fortified Jerusalem unto the broad wall.
8 Berdekatan dengan mereka Uziel bin Harhaya, salah seorang tukang emas, mengadakan perbaikan, dan berdekatan dengan dia Hananya, seorang juru campur rempah-rempah. Mereka memperkokoh Yerusalem sampai tembok Lebar.
3:9 And next unto them repaired Rephaiah the son of Hur, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem.
9 Berdekatan dengan mereka Refaya bin Hur, penguasa setengah wilayah Yerusalem yang satu mengadakan perbaikan.
3:10 And next unto them repaired Jedaiah the son of Harumaph, even opposite to his house. And next unto him repaired Hattush the son of Hashabniah.
10 Berdekatan dengan dia Yedaya bin Harumaf mengadakan perbaikan, tepat di depan rumahnya, dan berdekatan dengan dia Hatus bin Hasabneya.
3:11 Malchijah the son of Harim, and Hashub the son of Pahathmoab, repaired the other piece, and the tower of the furnaces.
11 Malkia bin Harim dan Hasub bin Pahat-Moab memperbaiki bagian yang lain dan menara Perapian.
3:12 And next unto him repaired Shallum the son of Halohesh, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem, he and his daughters.
12 Berdekatan dengan mereka Salum bin Halohesh, penguasa setengah wilayah Yerusalem yang lain mengadakan perbaikan bersama-sama anak-anak perempuannya.
3:13 The valley gate repaired Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and a thousand cubits on the wall unto the dung gate.
13 Pintu gerbang Lebak diperbaiki oleh Hanun dan penduduk Zanoah. Mereka membangunnya kembali dan memasang pintu-pintunya dengan pengancing-pengancing dan palang-palangnya. Pula tembok diperbaiki sepanjang seribu hasta sampai pada pintu gerbang Sampah.
3:14 But the dung gate repaired Malchiah the son of Rechab, the ruler of part of Bethhaccerem; he built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
14 Pintu gerbang Sampah diperbaiki oleh Malkia bin Rekhab, penguasa wilayah Bet-Kerem. Ia membangunnya kembali dan memasang pintu-pintunya dengan pengancing-pengancing dan palang-palangnya.
3:15 But the gate of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of Colhozeh, the ruler of part of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall of the pool of Siloah by the king's garden, and unto the stairs that go down from the city of David.
15 Pintu gerbang Mata Air diperbaiki oleh Salum bin Kolhoze, penguasa wilayah Mizpa. Pintu gerbang itu dibangunnya kembali, diberinya atap dan dipasangnya pintu-pintunya dengan pengancing-pengancing dan palang-palangnya. Juga diperbaikinya tembok kolam penampung air saluran, dekat taman raja sampai pada tangga-tangga yang menurun dari kota Daud.
3:16 After him repaired Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Bethzur, unto the place opposite to the sepulchers of David, and to the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty.
16 Di sampingnya Nehemia bin Azbuk, penguasa setengah wilayah Bet-Zur, mengadakan perbaikan sampai di depan pekuburan Daud dan sampai pada kolam buatan dan rumah para pahlawan.
3:17 After him repaired the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani. Next unto him repaired Hashabiah, the ruler of the half part of Keilah, in his part.
17 Di sampingnya orang-orang Lewi mengadakan perbaikan, yakni Rehum bin Bani, dan berdekatan dengan dia Hasabya, penguasa setengah wilayah Kehila yang satu, untuk wilayahnya.
3:18 After him repaired their brethren, Bavai the son of Henadad, the ruler of the half part of Keilah.
18 Di sampingnya saudara-saudara mereka, yakni Binui bin Henadad, penguasa setengah wilayah Kehila yang lain, mengadakan perbaikan.
3:19 And next to him repaired Ezer the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, another piece opposite to the going up to the armoury at the turning of the wall.
19 Berdekatan dengan dia Ezer bin Yesua, penguasa Mizpa, memperbaiki bagian yang berikut, di depan pendakian ke gudang senjata, dekat Sudut.
3:20 After him Baruch the son of Zabbai earnestly repaired the other piece, from the turning of the wall unto the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest.
20 Di sampingnya Barukh bin Zabai memperbaiki bagian yang berikut, dari Sudut sampai pada pintu masuk rumah imam besar Elyasib.
3:21 After him repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah the son of Koz another piece, from the door of the house of Eliashib even to the end of the house of Eliashib.
21 Di sampingnya Meremot bin Uria bin Hakos memperbaiki bagian yang berikut, dari pintu masuk rumah Elyasib sampai pada ujung rumah Elyasib.
3:22 And after him repaired the priests, the men of the plain.
22 Di sampingnya para imam, orang-orang dari Lembah Yordan, mengadakan perbaikan.
3:23 After him repaired Benjamin and Hashub opposite to their house. After him repaired Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah by his house.
23 Di samping mereka Benyamin dan Hasub mengadakan perbaikan di depan rumah mereka. Di samping mereka Azarya bin Maaseya bin Ananya mengadakan perbaikan di samping rumahnya.
3:24 After him repaired Binnui the son of Henadad another piece, from the house of Azariah unto the turning of the wall, even unto the corner.
24. Di sampingnya Binui bin Henadad memperbaiki bagian yang berikut, dari rumah Azarya sampai Sudut dan sampai Penjuru.
3:25 Palal the son of Uzai, opposite to the turning of the wall, and the tower which lies out from the king's high house, that was by the court of the prison. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh.
25 Palal bin Uzai mengadakan perbaikan di depan Sudut dan di depan menara yang tinggi yang menonjol dari istana raja, dekat pelataran penjagaan. Di sampingnya Pedaya bin Paros mengadakan perbaikan
3:26 Moreover the Nethinims dwelt in Ophel, unto the place opposite to the water gate toward the east, and the tower that lies out.
26 sampai di depan pintu gerbang Air, di sebelah timur, dan di depan menara yang menonjol. Adapun para budak di bait Allah tinggal di Ofel.
3:27 After them the Tekoites repaired another piece, opposite to the great tower that lies out, even unto the wall of Ophel.
27 Di samping Pedaya orang-orang Tekoa memperbaiki bagian yang berikut, dari depan menara besar yang menonjol itu sampai tembok Ofel.
3:28 From above the horse gate repaired the priests, every one opposite to his house.
28 Mulai dari pintu gerbang Kuda para imam mengadakan perbaikan, masing-masing di depan rumahnya.
3:29 After them repaired Zadok the son of Immer opposite to his house. After him repaired also Shemaiah the son of Shechaniah, the keeper of the east gate.
29 Di samping mereka Zadok bin Imer mengadakan perbaikan di depan rumahnya. Di sampingnya Semaya bin Sekhanya, penjaga pintu gerbang Timur.
3:30 After him repaired Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, another piece. After him repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah opposite to his chamber.
30 Di sampingnya Hananya bin Selemya dan Hanun, anak Zalaf yang keenam, memperbaiki bagian yang berikut. Di samping mereka Mesulam bin Berekhya mengadakan perbaikan di depan biliknya.
3:31 After him repaired Malchiah the goldsmith's son unto the place of the Nethinims, and of the merchants, opposite to the gate Miphkad, and to the going up of the corner.
31 Di sampingnya Malkia, seorang tukang emas, mengadakan perbaikan sampai pada rumah para budak di bait Allah dan para pedagang, di depan pintu gerbang Pendaftaran dan sampai pada kamar atas di penjuru.
3:32 And between the going up of the corner unto the sheep gate repaired the goldsmiths and the merchants.
32 Lalu antara kamar atas di penjuru dan pintu gerbang Domba para tukang emas dan para pedagang mengadakan perbaikan.
4:1 But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we built the wall, he was angry, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
1 Ketika Sanbalat mendengar, bahwa kami sedang membangun kembali tembok, bangkitlah amarahnya dan ia sangat sakit hati. Ia mengolok-olokkan orang Yahudi
4:2 And he spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?
2 dan berkata di hadapan saudara-saudaranya dan tentara Samaria: "Apa gerangan yang dilakukan orang-orang Yahudi yang lemah ini? Apakah mereka memperkokoh sesuatu? Apakah mereka hendak membawa persembahan? Apakah mereka akan selesai dalam sehari? Apakah mereka akan menghidupkan kembali batu-batu dari timbunan puing yang sudah terbakar habis seperti ini?"
4:3 Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.
3 Lalu berkatalah Tobia, orang Amon itu, yang ada di dekatnya: "Sekalipun mereka membangun kembali, kalau seekor anjing hutan meloncat dan menyentuhnya, robohlah tembok batu mereka."
4:4 Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity:
4 Ya, Allah kami, dengarlah bagaimana kami dihina. Balikkanlah cercaan mereka menimpa kepala mereka sendiri dan serahkanlah mereka menjadi jarahan di tanah tempat tawanan.
4:5 And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before you: for they have provoked you to anger before the builders.
5 Jangan Kaututupi kesalahan mereka, dan dosa mereka jangan Kauhapus dari hadapan-Mu, karena mereka menyakiti hati-Mu dengan sikap mereka terhadap orang-orang yang sedang membangun.
4:6 So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.
6 Tetapi kami terus membangun tembok sampai setengah tinggi dan sampai ujung-ujungnya bertemu, karena seluruh bangsa bekerja dengan segenap hati.
4:7 But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very angry,
7 Ketika Sanbalat dan Tobia serta orang Arab dan orang Amon dan orang Asdod mendengar, bahwa pekerjaan perbaikan tembok Yerusalem maju dan bahwa lobang-lobang tembok mulai tertutup, maka sangat marahlah mereka.
4:8 And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it.
8 Mereka semua mengadakan persepakatan bersama untuk memerangi Yerusalem dan mengadakan kekacauan di sana.
4:9 Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
9 Tetapi kami berdoa kepada Allah kami, dan mengadakan penjagaan terhadap mereka siang dan malam karena sikap mereka.
4:10 And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.
10 Berkatalah orang Yehuda: "Kekuatan para pengangkat sudah merosot dan puing masih sangat banyak. Tak sanggup kami membangun kembali tembok ini."
4:11 And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.
11 Tetapi lawan-lawan kami berpikir: "Mereka tidak akan tahu dan tidak akan melihat apa-apa, sampai kita ada di antara mereka, membunuh mereka dan menghentikan pekerjaan itu."
4:12 And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times, From all places whence all of you shall return unto us they will be upon you.
12 Ketika orang-orang Yahudi yang tinggal dekat mereka sudah sepuluh kali datang memperingatkan kami: "Mereka akan menyerang kita dari segala tempat tinggal mereka,"
4:13 Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
13 maka aku tempatkan rakyat menurut kaum keluarganya dengan pedang, tombak dan panah di bagian-bagian yang paling rendah dari tempat itu, di belakang tembok, di tempat-tempat yang terbuka.
4:14 And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not all of you afraid of them: remember the LORD, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
14 Kuamati semuanya, lalu bangun berdiri dan berkata kepada para pemuka dan para penguasa dan kepada orang-orang yang lain: "Jangan kamu takut terhadap mereka! Ingatlah kepada Tuhan yang maha besar dan dahsyat dan berperanglah untuk saudara-saudaramu, untuk anak-anak lelaki dan anak-anak perempuanmu, untuk isterimu dan rumahmu."
4:15 And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nothing, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.
15 Ketika didengar musuh kami, bahwa rencana mereka sudah kami ketahui dan bahwa Allah telah menggagalkannya, maka dapatlah kami semua kembali ke tembok, masing-masing ke pekerjaannya.
4:16 And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.
16 Sejak hari itu sebagian dari pada anak buahku melakukan pekerjaan, dan sebagian yang lain memegang tombak, perisai dan panah dan mengenakan baju zirah, sedang para pemimpin berdiri di belakang segenap kaum Yehuda
4:17 They which built on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon.
17 yang membangun di tembok. Orang-orang yang memikul dan mengangkut melakukan pekerjaannya dengan satu tangan dan dengan tangan yang lain mereka memegang senjata.
4:18 For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so built. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me.
18 Setiap orang yang membangun bekerja dengan berikatkan pedang pada pinggangnya, dan di sampingku berdiri peniup sangkakala.
4:19 And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another.
19 Berkatalah aku kepada para pemuka dan para penguasa dan kepada orang-orang yang lain: "Pekerjaan ini besar dan luas, dan kita terpencar pada tembok, yang satu jauh dari pada yang lain.
4:20 In what place therefore all of you hear the sound of the trumpet, resort all of you thither unto us: our God shall fight for us.
20 Dan kalau kamu mendengar bunyi sangkakala di suatu tempat, berkumpullah ke sana mendapatkan kami. Allah kita akan berperang bagi kita!"
4:21 So we laboured in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared.
21 Demikianlah kami melakukan pekerjaan itu, sedang sebagian dari pada orang-orang memegang tombak dari merekahnya fajar sampai terbitnya bintang-bintang.
4:22 Likewise at the same time said I unto the people, Let every one with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and labour on the day.
22 Pada waktu itu juga aku berikan perintah kepada rakyat: "Setiap orang dengan anak buahnya harus bermalam di Yerusalem, supaya mereka mengadakan penjagaan bagi kami pada malam hari, dan melakukan pekerjaannya pada siang hari."
4:23 So neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard which followed me, none of us put off our clothes, saving that every one put them off for washing.
23 Demikianlah aku sendiri, saudara-saudaraku, anak buahku dan para penjaga yang mengikut aku, kami semua tidak sempat menanggalkan pakaian kami. Setiap orang memegang senjata dengan tangan kanan.
5:1 And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.
1 Maka terdengarlah keluhan yang keras dari rakyat dan juga dari pihak para isteri terhadap sesama orang Yahudi.
5:2 For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live.
2 Ada yang berteriak: "Anak laki-laki dan anak perempuan kami banyak dan kami harus mendapat gandum, supaya kami dapat makan dan hidup."
5:3 Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.
3 Dan ada yang berteriak: "Ladang dan kebun anggur dan rumah kami gadaikan untuk mendapat gandum pada waktu kelaparan."
5:4 There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.
4 Juga ada yang berteriak: "Kami harus meminjam uang untuk membayar pajak yang dikenakan raja atas ladang dan kebun anggur kami.
5:5 Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.
5 Sekarang, walaupun kami ini sedarah sedaging dengan saudara-saudara sebangsa kami dan anak-anak kami sama dengan anak-anak mereka, namun kami terpaksa membiarkan anak-anak lelaki dan anak-anak perempuan kami menjadi budak dan sudah beberapa anak perempuan kami harus membiarkan diri dimiliki orang. Kami tidak dapat berbuat apa-apa, karena ladang dan kebun anggur kami sudah di tangan orang lain."
5:6 And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.
6 Maka sangat marahlah aku, ketika kudengar keluhan mereka dan berita-berita itu.
5:7 Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, All of you exact interest, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them.
7 Setelah berpikir masak-masak, aku menggugat para pemuka dan para penguasa. Kataku kepada mereka: "Masing-masing kamu telah makan riba dari saudara-saudaramu!" Lalu kuadakan terhadap mereka suatu sidang jemaah yang besar.
5:8 And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will all of you even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer.
8 Berkatalah aku kepada mereka: "Kami selalu berusaha sedapat-dapatnya untuk menebus sesama orang Yahudi yang dijual kepada bangsa-bangsa lain. Tetapi kamu ini justru menjual saudara-saudaramu, supaya mereka dibeli lagi oleh kami!" Mereka berdiam diri karena tidak dapat membantah.
5:9 Also I said, It is not good that all of you do: ought all of you not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?
9 Kataku: "Tidaklah patut apa yang kamu lakukan itu! Bukankah kamu harus berlaku dengan takut akan Allah kita untuk menghindarkan diri dari cercaan bangsa-bangsa lain, musuh-musuh kita?
5:10 I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this interest.
10 Juga aku dan saudara-saudaraku dan anak buahku telah membungakan uang dan gandum pada mereka. Biarlah kita hapuskan hutang mereka itu!
5:11 Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their olive yards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that all of you exact of them.
11 Biarlah kamu kembalikan kepada mereka hari ini juga ladang mereka, kebun anggur, kebun zaitun dan rumah mereka, pula hapuskanlah hutang mereka, yakni uang serta gandum, anggur dan minyak yang kamu tagih dari pada mereka!"
5:12 Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as you says. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.
12 Berkatalah mereka: "Itu akan kami kembalikan! Dan kami tidak akan menuntut apa-apa dari mereka. Kami akan lakukan tepat seperti yang engkau perintahkan!" Lalu aku memanggil para imam dan menyuruh mereka bersumpah, bahwa mereka akan menepati janji mereka.
5:13 Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performs not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.
13 Juga kukebas lipatan bajuku sambil berkata: "Demikianlah setiap orang yang tidak menepati janji ini akan dikebas Allah dari rumahnya dan hasil jerih payahnya. Demikianlah ia dikebas dan menjadi hampa!" Dan seluruh jemaah berkata: "Amin," lalu memuji-muji TUHAN. Maka rakyat berbuat sesuai dengan janji itu.
5:14 Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.
14 Pula sejak aku diangkat sebagai bupati di tanah Yehuda, yakni dari tahun kedua puluh sampai tahun ketiga puluh dua pemerintahan Artahsasta jadi dua belas tahun lamanya, aku dan saudara-saudaraku tidak pernah mengambil pembagian yang menjadi hak bupati.
5:15 But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.
15 Tetapi para bupati yang sebelumnya, yang mendahului aku, sangat memberatkan beban rakyat. Bupati-bupati itu mengambil dari mereka empat puluh syikal perak sehari untuk bahan makanan dan anggur. Bahkan anak buah mereka merajalela atas rakyat. Tetapi aku tidak berbuat demikian karena takut akan Allah.
5:16 Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered thither unto the work.
16 Akupun memulai pekerjaan tembok itu, walaupun aku tidak memperoleh ladang. Dan semua anak buahku dikumpulkan di sana khusus untuk pekerjaan itu.
5:17 Moreover there were at my table an hundred and fifty of the Jews and rulers, beside those that came unto us from among the heathen that are about us.
17 Duduk pada mejaku orang-orang Yahudi dan para penguasa, seratus lima puluh orang, selain mereka yang datang kepada kami dari bangsa-bangsa sekeliling kami.
5:18 Now that which was prepared for me daily was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this required not I the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.
18 Yang disediakan sehari atas tanggunganku ialah: seekor lembu, enam ekor kambing domba yang terpilih dan beberapa ekor unggas, dan bermacam-macam anggur dengan berlimpah-limpah setiap sepuluh hari. Namun, dengan semuanya itu, aku tidak menuntut pembagian yang menjadi hak bupati, karena pekerjaan itu sangat menekan rakyat.
5:19 Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.
19 Ya Allahku, demi kesejahteraanku, ingatlah segala yang kubuat untuk bangsa ini.
6:1 Now it came to pass when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had built the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)
1 Ketika Sanbalat dan Tobia dan Gesyem, orang Arab itu dan musuh-musuh kami yang lain mendengar, bahwa aku telah selesai membangun kembali tembok, sehingga tidak ada lagi lobang, walaupun sampai waktu itu di pintu-pintu gerbang belum kupasang pintunya,
6:2 That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.
2 maka Sanbalat dan Gesyem mengutus orang kepadaku dengan pesan: "Mari, kita mengadakan pertemuan bersama di Kefirim, di lembah Ono!" Tetapi mereka berniat mencelakakan aku.
6:3 And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?
3 Lalu aku mengirim utusan kepada mereka dengan balasan: "Aku tengah melakukan suatu pekerjaan yang besar. Aku tidak bisa datang! Untuk apa pekerjaan ini terhenti oleh sebab aku meninggalkannya dan pergi kepada kamu!"
6:4 Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.
4 Sampai empat kali mereka mengirim pesan semacam itu kepadaku dan setiap kali aku berikan jawaban yang sama kepada mereka.
6:5 Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand;
5 Lalu dengan cara yang sama untuk kelima kalinya Sanbalat mengirim seorang anak buahnya kepadaku yang membawa surat yang terbuka.
6:6 Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu says it, that you and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause you build the wall, that you may be their king, according to these words.
6 Dalam surat itu tertulis: "Ada desas-desus di antara bangsa-bangsa dan Gasymu membenarkannya, bahwa engkau dan orang-orang Yahudi berniat untuk memberontak, dan oleh sebab itu membangun kembali tembok. Lagipula, menurut kabar itu, engkau mau menjadi raja mereka.
6:7 And you have also appointed prophets to preach of you at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.
7 Bahkan engkau telah menunjuk nabi-nabi yang harus memberitakan tentang dirimu di Yerusalem, demikian: Ada seorang raja di Yehuda! Sekarang, berita seperti itu akan didengar raja. Oleh sebab itu, mari, kita sama-sama berunding!"
6:8 Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as you says, but you feign them out of yours own heart.
8 Tetapi aku mengirim orang kepadanya dengan balasan: "Hal seperti yang kausebut itu tidak pernah ada. Itu isapan jempolmu belaka!"
6:9 For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.
9 Karena mereka semua mau menakut-nakutkan kami, pikirnya: "Mereka akan membiarkan pekerjaan itu, sehingga tak dapat diselesaikan." Tetapi aku justru berusaha sekuat tenaga.
6:10 Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay you; yea, in the night will they come to slay you.
10 Ketika aku pergi ke rumah Semaya bin Delaya bin Mehetabeel, sebab ia berhalangan datang, berkatalah ia: "Biarlah kita bertemu di rumah Allah, di dalam Bait Suci, dan mengunci pintu-pintunya, karena ada orang yang mau datang membunuh engkau, ya, malam ini mereka mau datang membunuh engkau."
6:11 And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.
11 Tetapi kataku: "Orang manakah seperti aku ini yang akan melarikan diri? Orang manakah seperti aku ini dapat memasuki Bait Suci dan tinggal hidup? Aku tidak pergi!"
6:12 And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.
12 Karena kuketahui benar, bahwa Allah tidak mengutus dia. Ia mengucapkan nubuat itu terhadap aku, karena disuap Tobia dan Sanbalat.
6:13 Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.
13 Untuk ini ia disuap, supaya aku menjadi takut lalu berbuat demikian, sehingga aku berdosa. Dengan demikian mereka mempunyai kesempatan untuk membusukkan namaku, sehingga dapat mencela aku.
6:14 My God, think you upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.
14 Ya Allahku, ingatlah bagaimana Tobia dan Sanbalat masing-masing telah bertindak! Pun tindakan nabiah Noaja dan nabi-nabi yang lain yang mau menakut-nakutkan aku.
6:15 So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.
15 Maka selesailah tembok itu pada tanggal dua puluh lima bulan Elul, dalam waktu lima puluh dua hari.
6:16 And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.
16 Ketika semua musuh kami mendengar hal itu, takutlah semua bangsa sekeliling kami. Mereka sangat kehilangan muka dan menjadi sadar, bahwa pekerjaan itu dilaksanakan dengan bantuan Allah kami.
6:17 Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and the letters of Tobiah came unto them.
17 Pada masa itu pula para pemuka Yehuda mengirim banyak surat kepada Tobia, dan sebaliknya mereka menerima surat-surat dari padanya,
6:18 For there were many in Judah sworn unto him, because he was the son in law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.
18 karena banyak orang di Yehuda mempunyai ikatan sumpah dengan dia, sebab ia adalah menantu Sekhanya bin Arah, sedang Yohanan, anaknya, mengambil anak Mesulam bin Berekhya sebagai isteri.
6:19 Also they reported his good deeds before me, and uttered my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.
19 Juga mereka sebut-sebut segala kebaikan Tobia di mukaku dan segala perkataanku terus dibeberkan kepadanya. Pula Tobia mengirim surat-surat untuk menakut-nakutkan aku.
7:1 Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
1 Setelah tembok selesai dibangun, aku memasang pintu-pintu. Lalu diangkatlah penunggu-penunggu pintu gerbang, para penyanyi dan orang-orang Lewi.
7:2 That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.
2 Pengawasan atas Yerusalem aku serahkan kepada Hanani, saudaraku, dan kepada Hananya, panglima benteng, karena dia seorang yang dapat dipercaya dan yang takut akan Allah lebih dari pada orang-orang lain.
7:3 And I said unto them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar them: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one to be opposite to his house.
3 Berkatalah aku kepada mereka: "Pintu-pintu gerbang Yerusalem jangan dibuka sampai matahari panas terik. Dan pintu-pintunya harus ditutup dan dipalangi, sementara orang masih bertugas di tempatnya. Tempatkanlah penjaga-penjaga dari antara penduduk Yerusalem, masing-masing pada tempat-tempat penjagaan dan di depan rumahnya."
7:4 Now the city was large and great: but the people were few therein, and the houses were not built.
4 Adapun kota itu luas dan besar, tetapi penduduknya sedikit dan rumah-rumah belum dibangun.
7:5 And my God put into mine heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found a register of the genealogy of them which came up at the first, and found written therein,
5 Maka Allahku memberikan dalam hatiku rencana untuk mengumpulkan para pemuka, para penguasa dan rakyat, supaya mereka dicatat dalam silsilah. Lalu kudapati daftar silsilah orang-orang yang lebih dahulu berangkat pulang. Dalam daftar itu kudapati tertulis:
7:6 These are the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity, of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and came again to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one unto his city;
6 Inilah orang-orang propinsi Yehuda yang berangkat pulang dari pembuangan, yakni para tawanan, yang dahulu diangkut oleh Nebukadnezar, raja Babel, dan yang kembali ke Yerusalem dan ke Yehuda, masing-masing ke kotanya.
7:7 Who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. The number, I say, of the men of the people of Israel was this;
7 Mereka datang bersama-sama Zerubabel, Yesua, Nehemia, Azarya, Raamya, Nahamani, Mordekhai, Bilsan, Misperet, Bigwai, Nehum dan Baana. Inilah daftar orang-orang bangsa Israel:
7:8 The children of Parosh, two thousand an hundred seventy and two.
8 bani Paros: dua ribu seratus tujuh puluh dua orang;
7:9 The children of Shephatiah, three hundred seventy and two.
9 bani Sefaca: tiga ratus tujuh puluh dua orang;
7:10 The children of Arah, six hundred fifty and two.
10 bani Arakh: enam ratus lima puluh dua orang;
7:11 The children of Pahathmoab, of the children of Jeshua and Joab, two thousand and eight hundred and eighteen.
11 bani Pahat-Moab, yakni bani Yesua dan Yoab: dua ribu delapan ratus delapan belas orang;
7:12 The children of Elam, a thousand two hundred fifty and four.
12 bani Elam: seribu dua ratus lima puluh empat orang;
7:13 The children of Zattu, eight hundred forty and five.
13 bani Zatu: delapan ratus empat puluh lima orang;
7:14 The children of Zaccai, seven hundred and threescore.
14 bani Zakai: tujuh ratus enam puluh orang;

60 Seluruh budak di bait Allah dan keturunan para hamba Salomo ada tiga ratus sembilan puluh dua orang.
7:61 And these were they which went up also from Telmelah, Telharesha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer: but they could not show their father's house, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel.
61 Inilah orang-orang yang berangkat pulang dari Tel-Melah, Tel-Harsa, Kerub, Adon dan Imer, tetapi mereka tidak dapat menyatakan apakah kaum keluarga dan asal-usul mereka termasuk bangsa Israel:
7:62 The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred forty and two.
62 bani Delaya, bani Tobia, bani Nekoda: enam ratus empat puluh dua orang;
7:63 And of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai, which took one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite to wife, and was called after their name.
63 dan dari antara para imam: bani Habaya, bani Hakos, bani Barzilai. Barzilai itu memperisteri seorang anak perempuan Barzilai, orang Gilead itu, dan sejak itu ia dinamai menurut nama keluarga itu.
7:64 These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.
64 Mereka itu menyelidiki apakah nama mereka tercatat dalam silsilah, tetapi karena itu tidak didapati, maka mereka dinyatakan tidak tahir untuk jabatan imam.
7:65 And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.
65 Dan tentang mereka diputuskan oleh kepala daerah, bahwa mereka tidak boleh makan dari persembahan maha kudus, sampai ada seorang imam bertindak dengan memegang Urim dan Tumim.
7:66 The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore,
66 Seluruh jemaah itu bersama-sama ada empat puluh dua ribu tiga ratus enam puluh orang,
7:67 Beside their male servants and their maidservants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and they had two hundred forty and five singing men and singing women.
67 selain dari budak mereka laki-laki dan perempuan yang berjumlah tujuh ribu tiga ratus tiga puluh tujuh orang. Pada mereka ada dua ratus empat puluh lima penyanyi laki-laki dan perempuan.
7:68 Their horses, seven hundred thirty and six: their mules, two hundred forty and five:
68 Mereka mempunyai tujuh ratus tiga puluh enam ekor kuda, dua ratus empat puluh lima ekor bagal,
7:69 Their camels, four hundred thirty and five: six thousand seven hundred and twenty asses.
69 empat ratus tiga puluh lima ekor unta dan enam ribu tujuh ratus dua puluh ekor keledai.
7:70 And some of the chief of the fathers gave unto the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basons, five hundred and thirty priests' garments.
70 Sebagian dari kepala kaum keluarga memberi sumbangan untuk pekerjaan itu, sedang kepala daerah memberi sumbangan untuk perbendaharaan seribu dirham emas, lima puluh buah bokor penyiraman, dan lima ratus tiga puluh helai kemeja imam.
7:71 And some of the chief of the fathers gave to the treasure of the work twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pound of silver.
71 Pula beberapa kepala kaum keluarga memberi sumbangan untuk perbendaharaan pekerjaan itu dua puluh ribu dirham emas dan dua ribu dua ratus mina perak.
7:72 And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pound of silver, and threescore and seven priests' garments.
72 Dan yang disumbangkan oleh orang-orang lain adalah: dua puluh ribu dirham emas, dua ribu mina perak dan enam puluh tujuh helai kemeja imam.
7:73 So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.
73 Adapun para imam dan orang-orang Lewi, para penunggu pintu dan para penyanyi, juga sebagian dari rakyat, para budak di bait Allah dan semua orang Israel yang lain menetap di kota-kota mereka. (8-1) Ketika tiba bulan yang ketujuh, sedang orang Israel telah menetap di kota-kotanya,
8:1 And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spoke unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
1 (8-2) maka serentak berkumpullah seluruh rakyat di halaman di depan pintu gerbang Air. Mereka meminta kepada Ezra, ahli kitab itu, supaya ia membawa kitab Taurat Musa, yakni kitab hukum yang diberikan TUHAN kepada Israel.
8:2 And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.
2 (8-3) Lalu pada hari pertama bulan yang ketujuh itu imam Ezra membawa kitab Taurat itu ke hadapan jemaah, yakni baik laki-laki maupun perempuan dan setiap orang yang dapat mendengar dan mengerti.
8:3 And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law.
3 (8-4) Ia membacakan beberapa bagian dari pada kitab itu di halaman di depan pintu gerbang Air dari pagi sampai tengah hari di hadapan laki-laki dan perempuan dan semua orang yang dapat mengerti. Dengan penuh perhatian seluruh umat mendengarkan pembacaan kitab Taurat itu.
8:4 And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
4 (8-5) Ezra, ahli kitab itu, berdiri di atas mimbar kayu yang dibuat untuk peristiwa itu. Di sisinya sebelah kanan berdiri Matica, Sema, Anaya, Uria, Hilkia dan Maaseya, sedang di sebelah kiri berdiri Pedaya, Misael, Malkia, Hasum, Hasbadana, Zakharia dan Mesulam.
8:5 And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:
5 (8-6) Ezra membuka kitab itu di depan mata seluruh umat, karena ia berdiri lebih tinggi dari semua orang itu. Pada waktu ia membuka kitab itu semua orang bangkit berdiri.
8:6 And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
6 (8-7) Lalu Ezra memuji TUHAN, Allah yang maha besar, dan semua orang menyambut dengan: "Amin, amin!", sambil mengangkat tangan. Kemudian mereka berlutut dan sujud menyembah kepada TUHAN dengan muka sampai ke tanah.
8:7 Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.
7 (8-8) Juga Yesua, Bani, Serebya, Yamin, Akub, Sabetai, Hodia, Maaseya, Kelita, Azarya, Yozabad, Hanan, Pelaya, yang adalah orang-orang Lewi, mengajarkan Taurat itu kepada orang-orang itu, sementara orang-orang itu berdiri di tempatnya.
8:8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
8 (8-9) Bagian-bagian dari pada kitab itu, yakni Taurat Allah, dibacakan dengan jelas, dengan diberi keterangan-keterangan, sehingga pembacaan dimengerti.
8:9 And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
9 (8-10) Lalu Nehemia, yakni kepala daerah itu, dan imam Ezra, ahli kitab itu, dan orang-orang Lewi yang mengajar orang-orang itu, berkata kepada mereka semuanya: "Hari ini adalah kudus bagi TUHAN Allahmu. Jangan kamu berdukacita dan menangis!", karena semua orang itu menangis ketika mendengar kalimat-kalimat Taurat itu.
8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be all of you sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
10 (8-11) Lalu berkatalah ia kepada mereka: "Pergilah kamu, makanlah sedap-sedapan dan minumlah minuman manis dan kirimlah sebagian kepada mereka yang tidak sedia apa-apa, karena hari ini adalah kudus bagi Tuhan kita! Jangan kamu bersusah hati, sebab sukacita karena TUHAN itulah perlindunganmu!"
8:11 So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be all of you grieved.
11 (8-12) Juga orang-orang Lewi menyuruh semua orang itu supaya diam dengan kata-kata: "Tenanglah! Hari ini adalah kudus. Jangan kamu bersusah hati!"
8:12 And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great delight, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.
12 (8-13) Maka pergilah semua orang itu untuk makan dan minum, untuk membagi-bagi makanan dan berpesta ria, karena mereka mengerti segala firman yang diberitahukan kepada mereka.
8:13 And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the law.
13 (8-14) Pada hari yang kedua kepala-kepala kaum keluarga seluruh bangsa, juga para imam dan orang-orang Lewi berkumpul pada Ezra, ahli hukum Taurat itu, untuk menelaah kalimat-kalimat Taurat itu.
8:14 And they found written in the law which the LORD had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month:
14 (8-15) Maka didapatinya tertulis dalam hukum yang diberikan TUHAN dengan perantaraan Musa, bahwa orang Israel harus tinggal dalam pondok-pondok pada hari raya bulan yang ketujuh,
8:15 And that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth unto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.
15 (8-16) dan bahwa di semua kota mereka dan di Yerusalem harus disampaikan berita dan pengumuman yang berbunyi: "Pergilah ke gunung, ambillah daun pohon zaitun, daun pohon minyak, daun pohon murad, daun pohon korma dan daun dari pohon-pohon yang rimbun guna membuat pondok-pondok sebagaimana tertulis."
8:16 So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the street of the water gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephraim.
16 (8-17) Maka pergilah orang mengambil daun-daun itu, lalu membuat pondok-pondok, masing-masing di atas atap rumahnya, di pekarangan mereka, juga di pelataran-pelataran rumah Allah, di lapangan pintu gerbang Air dan di lapangan pintu gerbang Efraim.
8:17 And all the congregation of them that were come again out of the captivity made booths, and sat under the booths: for since the days of Jeshua the son of Nun unto that day had not the children of Israel done so. And there was very great gladness.
17 (8-18) Seluruh jemaah yang pulang dari pembuangan itu membuat pondok-pondok dan tinggal di situ. Memang sejak zaman Yosua bin Nun sampai hari itu orang Israel tidak pernah berbuat demikian. Maka diadakanlah pesta ria yang amat besar.
8:18 Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner.
18 (8-19) Bagian-bagian kitab Taurat Allah itu dibacakan tiap hari, dari hari pertama sampai hari terakhir. Tujuh hari lamanya mereka merayakan hari raya itu dan pada hari yang kedelapan ada pertemuan raya sesuai dengan peraturan.
9:1 Now in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sack clothes, and earth upon them.
1 Pada hari yang kedua puluh empat bulan itu berkumpullah orang Israel dan berpuasa dengan mengenakan kain kabung dan dengan tanah di kepala.
9:2 And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.
2 Keturunan orang Israel memisahkan diri dari semua orang asing, lalu berdiri di tempatnya dan mengaku dosa mereka dan kesalahan nenek moyang mereka.
9:3 And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the LORD their God.
3 Sementara mereka berdiri di tempat, dibacakanlah bagian-bagian dari pada kitab Taurat TUHAN, Allah mereka, selama seperempat hari, sedang seperempat hari lagi mereka mengucapkan pengakuan dan sujud menyembah kepada TUHAN, Allah mereka.
9:4 Then stood up upon the stairs, of the Levites, Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani, and cried with a loud voice unto the LORD their God.
4 Di atas tangga tempat orang-orang Lewi berdirilah Yesua, Bani, Kadmiel, Sebanya, Buni, Serebya, Bani dan Kenani. Dengan suara yang nyaring mereka berseru kepada TUHAN, Allah mereka.
9:5 Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, Stand up and bless the LORD your God for ever and ever: and blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.
5 Dan berkatalah Yesua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hasabneya, Serebya, Hodia, Sebanya dan Petahya, orang-orang Lewi itu: "Bangunlah, pujilah TUHAN Allahmu dari selama-lamanya sampai selama-lamanya! Terpujilah nama-Mu yang mulia, yang ditinggikan mengatasi segala puji dan hormat!"
9:6 You, even you, are LORD alone; you have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and you preserve them all; and the host of heaven worships you.
6 "Hanya Engkau adalah TUHAN! Engkau telah menjadikan langit, ya langit segala langit dengan segala bala tentaranya, dan bumi dengan segala yang ada di atasnya, dan laut dengan segala yang ada di dalamnya. Engkau memberi hidup kepada semuanya itu dan bala tentara langit sujud menyembah kepada-Mu.
9:7 You are the LORD the God, who did choose Abram, and brought him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gave him the name of Abraham;
7 Engkaulah TUHAN, Allah yang telah memilih Abram dan membawanya keluar dari Ur-Kasdim dan memberikan kepadanya nama Abraham.
9:8 And found his heart faithful before you, and made a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give it, I say, to his seed, and have performed your words; for you are righteous:
8 Engkau dapati bahwa hatinya setia terhadap-Mu dan Engkau mengikat perjanjian dengan dia untuk memberikan tanah orang Kanaan, tanah orang Het, tanah orang Amori, tanah orang Feris, tanah orang Yebus dan tanah orang Girgasi kepada keturunannya. Dan Engkau telah menepati janji-Mu, karena Engkau benar.
9:9 And did see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heard their cry by the Red sea;
9 Engkau melihat sengsara nenek moyang kami di Mesir dan mendengar teriakan mereka di tepi Laut Teberau.
9:10 And showed signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for you knew that they dealt proudly against them. So did you get you a name, as it is this day.
10 Engkau telah memperlihatkan tanda-tanda dan mujizat-mujizat di depan Firaun dan semua pegawainya serta seluruh rakyat negerinya, karena Engkau mengetahui mereka bertindak angkuh terhadap nenek moyang kami. Dengan demikian Engkau telah memasyhurkan nama-Mu sebagaimana nyata hari ini.
9:11 And you did divide the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and their persecutors you threw into the deeps, as a stone into the mighty waters.
11 Di hadapan mereka Engkau membelah laut, sehingga mereka dapat menyeberang melalui tempat yang kering di tengah-tengah laut. Tetapi pengejar-pengejar mereka telah Kaucampakkan ke air yang dalam, seperti batu ke air yang dahsyat.
9:12 Moreover you led them in the day by a cloudy pillar; and in the night by a pillar of fire, to give them light in the way wherein they should go.
12 Dengan tiang awan Engkau memimpin mereka pada siang hari dan dengan tiang api pada malam hari untuk menerangi jalan yang mereka lalui.
9:13 You came down also upon mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments:
13 Engkau telah turun ke atas gunung Sinai dan berbicara dengan mereka dari langit dan memberikan mereka peraturan-peraturan yang adil, hukum-hukum yang benar serta ketetapan-ketetapan dan perintah-perintah yang baik.
9:14 And made known unto them your holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses your servant:
14 Juga Kauberitahukan kepada mereka sabat-Mu yang kudus dan memberikan kepada mereka perintah-perintah, ketetapan-ketetapan dan hukum-Mu dengan perantaraan Musa, hamba-Mu.
9:15 And gave them bread from heaven for their hunger, and brought forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and promised them that they should go in to possess the land which you had sworn to give them.
15 Telah Kauberikan kepada mereka roti dari langit untuk menghilangkan lapar dan air Kaukeluarkan bagi mereka dari gunung batu untuk melepaskan dahaga. Pula Engkau menyuruh mereka memasuki dan menduduki negeri yang dengan mengangkat sumpah telah Kaujanjikan memberikannya kepada mereka.
9:16 But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to your commandments,
16 Tetapi mereka, nenek moyang kami itu, bertindak angkuh dan bersitegang leher dan tidak patuh kepada perintah-perintah-Mu.
9:17 And refused to obey, neither were mindful of your wonders that you did among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsook them not.
17 Mereka menolak untuk patuh dan tidak mengingat perbuatan-perbuatan yang ajaib yang telah Kaubuat di antara mereka. Mereka bersitegang leher malah berkeras kepala untuk kembali ke perbudakan di Mesir. Tetapi Engkaulah Allah yang sudi mengampuni, yang pengasih dan penyayang, yang panjang sabar dan berlimpah kasih setia-Nya. Engkau tidak meninggalkan mereka.
9:18 Yea, when they had made them a molten calf, and said, This is your God that brought you up out of Egypt, and had wrought great provocations;
18 Bahkan, ketika mereka membuat anak lembu tuangan dan berkata: 'Inilah Allahmu yang menuntun engkau keluar dari Mesir!', dan berbuat nista yang besar,
9:19 Yet you in your manifold mercies forsook them not in the wilderness: the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to show them light, and the way wherein they should go.
19 Engkau tidak meninggalkan mereka di padang gurun karena kasih sayang-Mu yang besar. Tiang awan tidak berpindah dari atas mereka pada siang hari untuk memimpin mereka pada perjalanan, begitu juga tiang api pada malam hari untuk menerangi jalan yang mereka lalui.
9:20 You gave also your good spirit to instruct them, and withheld not your manna from their mouth, and gave them water for their thirst.
20 Dan Engkau memberikan kepada mereka Roh-Mu yang baik untuk mengajar mereka. Juga manna-Mu tidak Kautahan dari mulut mereka dan Engkau memberikan air kepada mereka untuk melepaskan dahaga.
9:21 Yea, forty years did you sustain them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not.
21 Empat puluh tahun lamanya Engkau memberikan mereka makan di padang gurun. Mereka tidak berkekurangan, pakaian mereka tidak rusak, dan kaki mereka tidak bengkak.
9:22 Moreover you gave them kingdoms and nations, and did divide them into corners: so they possessed the land of Sihon, and the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan.
22 Engkau menyerahkan kepada mereka kerajaan-kerajaan dan bangsa-bangsa dan membagikan itu kepada mereka sebagai daerah perbatasan, sebab mereka duduki tanah dari Sihon, raja negeri Hesbon dan tanah dari Og, raja negeri Basan.
9:23 Their children also multiplied you as the stars of heaven, and brought them into the land, concerning which you had promised to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it.
23 Engkau membuat anak-anak mereka menjadi banyak seperti bintang-bintang di langit dan membawa mereka ke tanah yang Kausuruh kepada nenek moyang mereka untuk dimasuki dan diduduki.
9:24 So the children went in and possessed the land, and you subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gave them into their hands, with their kings, and the people of the land, that they might do with them as they would.
24 Lalu anak-anak itu memasuki dan menduduki tanah itu dan Engkau menundukkan di hadapan mereka penduduk tanah itu, yakni orang-orang Kanaan, dan menyerahkan orang-orang itu, baik raja-raja mereka, maupun bangsa-bangsa tanah itu, ke tangan mereka, supaya orang-orang itu diperlakukan sekehendak hati mereka.
9:25 And they took strong cities, and a fat land, and possessed houses full of all goods, wells dug, vineyards, and olive yards, and fruit trees in abundance: so they did eat, and were filled, and became fat, and delighted themselves in your great goodness.
25 Mereka merebut kota-kota yang berkubu dan tanah yang subur. Mereka merampas rumah-rumah yang penuh berisi berbagai-bagai barang baik, tempat-tempat air pahatan, kebun-kebun anggur dan kebun-kebun zaitun dan pohon-pohon buah-buahan dalam jumlah yang sangat banyak. Mereka makan dan menjadi kenyang dan gemuk. Mereka hidup mewah karena kebaikan-Mu yang besar.
9:26 Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against you, and cast your law behind their backs, and slew your prophets which testified against them to turn them to you, and they wrought great provocations.
26 Tetapi mereka mendurhaka dan memberontak terhadap-Mu. Mereka membelakangi hukum-Mu dan membunuh nabi-nabi-Mu yang memperingatkan mereka dengan maksud membuat mereka berbalik kepada-Mu. Mereka berbuat nista yang besar.
9:27 Therefore you delivered them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried unto you, you heard them from heaven; and according to your manifold mercies you gave them saviours, who saved them out of the hand of their enemies.
27 Lalu Engkau menyerahkan mereka ke tangan lawan-lawan mereka, yang menyesakkan mereka. Dan pada waktu kesusahan mereka berteriak kepada-Mu, lalu Engkau mendengar dari langit dan karena kasih sayang-Mu yang besar Kauberikan kepada mereka orang-orang yang menyelamatkan mereka dari tangan lawan mereka.
9:28 But after they had rest, they did evil again before you: therefore left you them in the land of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them: yet when they returned, and cried unto you, you heard them from heaven; and many times did you deliver them according to your mercies;
28 Tetapi begitu mereka mendapat keamanan, kembali mereka berbuat jahat di hadapan-Mu. Dan Engkau menyerahkan mereka ke tangan musuh-musuh mereka yang menguasai mereka. Kembali mereka berteriak kepada-Mu, dan Engkau mendengar dari langit, lalu menolong mereka berulang kali, karena kasih sayang-Mu.
9:29 And testified against them, that you might bring them again unto your law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto your commandments, but sinned against your judgments, (which if a man do, he shall live in them;) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear.
29 Engkau memperingatkan mereka dengan maksud membuat mereka berbalik kepada hukum-Mu. Tetapi mereka bertindak angkuh, mereka tidak patuh kepada perintah-perintah-Mu dan mereka berdosa terhadap peraturan-peraturan-Mu, yang justru memberi hidup kepada orang yang melakukannya. Mereka melintangkan bahu untuk melawan, mereka bersitegang leher dan tidak mau dengar.
9:30 Yet many years did you forbear them, and testified against them by your spirit in your prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore gave you them into the hand of the people of the lands.
30 Namun bertahun-tahun lamanya Engkau melanjutkan sabar-Mu terhadap mereka. Dengan Roh-Mu Engkau memperingatkan mereka, yakni dengan perantaraan para nabi-Mu, tetapi mereka tidak menghiraukannya, sehingga Engkau menyerahkan mereka ke tangan bangsa-bangsa segala negeri.
9:31 Nevertheless for your great mercies' sake you did not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for you are a gracious and merciful God.
31 Tetapi karena kasih sayang-Mu yang besar Engkau tidak membinasakan mereka sama sekali dan tidak meninggalkan mereka, karena Engkaulah Allah yang pengasih dan penyayang.
9:32 Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keep covenant and mercy, let not all the trouble seem little before you, that has come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all your people, since the time of the kings of Assyria unto this day.
32 Sekarang, ya Allah kami, Allah yang maha besar, kuat dan dahsyat, yang berpegang pada perjanjian dan kasih setia-Nya, janganlah Kaupandang remeh segala kesusahan yang telah dialami oleh kami, oleh raja-raja kami, pemimpin-pemimpin kami, imam-imam kami, nabi-nabi kami dan nenek moyang kami, ya oleh seluruh umat-Mu, sejak zaman raja-raja Asyur sampai hari ini.
9:33 Nevertheless you are just in all that is brought upon us; for you have done right, but we have done wickedly:
33 Tetapi Engkaulah yang benar dalam segala hal yang menimpa kami, karena Engkau berlaku setia dan kamilah berbuat fasik.
9:34 Neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept your law, nor hearkened unto your commandments and your testimonies, wherewith you did testify against them.
34 Juga raja-raja kami, pemimpin-pemimpin kami, imam-imam kami, dan nenek moyang kami tidak melakukan hukum-Mu. Mereka tidak memperhatikan perintah-perintah-Mu dan peringatan-peringatan-Mu yang Kauberikan kepada mereka.
9:35 For they have not served you in their kingdom, and in your great goodness that you gave them, and in the large and fat land which you gave before them, neither turned they from their wicked works.
35 Dalam kedudukan sebagai raja mereka tidak mau beribadah kepada-Mu, walaupun Engkau telah mengaruniakan kepada mereka banyak kebaikan dan telah menyediakan bagi mereka tanah yang luas dan subur. Mereka tidak berbalik dari perbuatan-perbuatan mereka yang jahat.
9:36 Behold, we are servants this day, and for the land that you gave unto our fathers to eat the fruit thereof and the good thereof, behold, we are servants in it:
36 Lihatlah, sekarang ini kami adalah budak. Ya, di tanah yang Kauberikan kepada nenek moyang kami untuk mengecap hasilnya dan segala kekayaannya kami ini adalah budak.
9:37 And it yields much increase unto the kings whom you have set over us because of our sins: also they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.
37 Tanah itu menghasilkan banyak bagi raja-raja yang telah Kautetapkan atas kami karena dosa-dosa kami. Mereka itu memerintah sekehendak hati atas diri kami dan ternak kami, sehingga kami dalam kesesakan besar."
9:38 And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, Levites, and priests, seal unto it.
38 Berdasarkan semuanya ini kami mengikat perjanjian yang teguh yang kami catat dengan dibubuhi meterai para pemimpin kami, orang-orang Lewi kami dan para imam kami.

10:28 And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;
28 Dan orang-orang yang lain, yakni: para imam dan orang-orang Lewi, para penunggu pintu gerbang, para penyanyi, para budak di bait Allah dan segala orang yang memisahkan diri dari penduduk negeri untuk patuh kepada hukum Allah, serta isteri mereka, anak-anak lelaki dan anak-anak perempuan mereka, begitu juga semua orang yang cukup dewasa untuk mengerti,
10:29 They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God's law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;
29 menggabungkan diri dengan saudara-saudara mereka, yakni pemuka-pemuka mereka itu. Mereka bersumpah kutuk untuk hidup menurut hukum Allah yang diberikan dengan perantaraan Musa, hamba Allah itu, dan untuk tetap mengikuti dan melakukan segala perintah TUHAN, yakni Tuhan kami, serta segala peraturan dan ketetapan-Nya.
10:30 And that we would not give our daughters unto the people of the land, not take their daughters for our sons:
30 Pula kami tidak akan memberi anak-anak perempuan kami kepada penduduk negeri, ataupun mengambil anak-anak perempuan mereka bagi anak-anak lelaki kami.
10:31 And if the people of the land bring ware or any victuals on the sabbath day to sell, that we would not buy it of them on the sabbath, or on the holy day: and that we would leave the seventh year, and the exaction of every debt.
31 Dan bilamana penduduk negeri membawa barang-barang dan berbagai-bagai gandum untuk dijual pada hari Sabat, kami tidak akan membelinya dari mereka pada hari Sabat atau pada hari yang kudus. Dan kami akan membiarkan begitu saja hasil tanah pada tahun yang ketujuh dan tidak akan menagih sesuatu hutang.
10:32 Also we made ordinances for us, to charge ourselves yearly with the third part of a shekel for the service of the house of our God;
32 Pula kami mewajibkan diri untuk memberi tiap tahun sepertiga syikal untuk ibadah di rumah Allah kami, yakni:
10:33 For the showbread, and for the continual food offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the sabbaths, of the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make an atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.
33 untuk roti sajian, untuk korban sajian yang tetap, untuk korban bakaran yang tetap, untuk hari-hari Sabat, bulan-bulan baru dan masa raya yang tetap, untuk persembahan-persembahan kudus dan korban-korban penghapus dosa, untuk mengadakan pendamaian bagi orang Israel serta segala pekerjaan di rumah Allah kami.
10:34 And we cast the lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people, for the wood offering, to bring it into the house of our God, after the houses of our fathers, at times appointed year by year, to burn upon the altar of the LORD our God, as it is written in the law:
34 Pula dengan membuang undi kami, yakni para imam, orang-orang Lewi dan kaum awam, menetapkan suatu cara untuk menyediakan kayu api. Kayu itu harus dibawa ke rumah Allah kami secara bergilir oleh kaum-kaum keluarga kami pada waktu-waktu tertentu setiap tahun, supaya di atas mezbah TUHAN Allah kami ada api yang menyala, seperti tertulis dalam kitab Taurat.
10:35 And to bring the first-fruits of our ground, and the first-fruits of all fruit of all trees, year by year, unto the house of the LORD:
35 Lagipula setiap tahun kami akan membawa ke rumah TUHAN hasil yang pertama dari tanah kami dan buah sulung segala pohon.
10:36 Also the firstborn of our sons, and of our cattle, as it is written in the law, and the firstlings of our herds and of our flocks, to bring to the house of our God, unto the priests that minister in the house of our God:
36 Pun kami akan membawa ke rumah Allah kami, yakni kepada para imam yang menyelenggarakan kebaktian di rumah Allah kami, anak-anak sulung kami dan anak-anak sulung ternak kami seperti tertulis dalam kitab Taurat, juga anak-anak sulung lembu kami dan kambing domba kami.
10:37 And that we should bring the first-fruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage.
37 Dan tepung jelai kami yang mula-mula, dan persembahan-persembahan khusus kami, dan buah segala pohon, dan anggur dan minyak akan kami bawa kepada para imam, ke bilik-bilik rumah Allah kami, dan kepada orang-orang Lewi akan kami bawa persembahan persepuluhan dari tanah kami, karena orang-orang Lewi inilah yang memungut persembahan-perse persepuluhan di segala kota pertanian kami.
10:38 And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes unto the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house.
38 Seorang imam, anak Harun, akan menyertai orang-orang Lewi itu, bila mereka memungut persembahan persepuluhan. Dan orang-orang Lewi itu akan membawa persembahan persepuluhan dari pada persembahan persepuluhan itu ke rumah Allah kami, ke bilik-bilik rumah perbendaharaan.
10:39 For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, unto the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our God.
39 Karena orang Israel dan orang Lewi harus membawa persembahan khusus dari pada gandum, anggur dan minyak ke bilik-bilik itu. Di situ ada perkakas-perkakas tempat kudus, pula para imam yang menyelenggarakan kebaktian, para penunggu pintu gerbang dan para penyanyi. Kami tidak akan membiarkan rumah Allah kami.
11:1 And the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: the rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts to dwell in other cities.
1 Para pemimpin bangsa menetap di Yerusalem, sedang orang-orang lain membuang undi untuk menentukan satu dari sepuluh orang yang harus menetap di Yerusalem, kota yang kudus itu, sedang yang sembilan orang lagi tinggal di kota-kota yang lain.
11:2 And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.
2 Orang-orang memuji setiap orang yang rela menetap di Yerusalem.
11:3 Now these are the chief of the province that dwelt in Jerusalem: but in the cities of Judah dwelt every one in his possession in their cities, to know, Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon's servants.
3 Inilah kepala-kepala propinsi Yehuda yang menetap di Yerusalem, sedang di kota-kota di Yehuda setiap orang, yakni orang-orang Israel awam, para imam, orang-orang Lewi, para budak di bait Allah dan keturunan para hamba Salomo, tinggal di tanah miliknya, di kotanya sendiri.
11:4 And at Jerusalem dwelt certain of the children of Judah, and of the children of Benjamin. Of the children of Judah; Athaiah the son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalaleel, of the children of Perez;
4 Di Yerusalem tinggal orang-orang dari bani Yehuda dan bani Benyamin. Dari anak-anak Yehuda: Ataya bin Uzia bin Zakharia bin Amarya bin Sefaca bin Mahalaleel dari bani Peres,
11:5 And Maaseiah the son of Baruch, the son of Colhozeh, the son of Hazaiah, the son of Adaiah, the son of Joiarib, the son of Zechariah, the son of Shiloni.

11:6 All the sons of Perez that dwelt at Jerusalem were four hundred threescore and eight valiant men.
6 Semua bani Peres yang tinggal di Yerusalem berjumlah empat ratus enam puluh delapan orang yang gagah perkasa.
11:7 And these are the sons of Benjamin; Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jesaiah.
7 Dan inilah bani Benyamin: Salu bin Mesulam bin Yoed bin Pedaya bin Kolaya bin Maaseya bin Itiel bin Yesaya.
11:8 And after him Gabbai, Sallai, nine hundred twenty and eight.
8 Dan sesudah dia: Gabai, Salai: sembilan ratus dua puluh delapan orang.
11:9 And Joel the son of Zichri was their overseer: and Judah the son of Senuah was second over the city.
9 Yoel bin Zikhri adalah pengawas mereka, sedang Yehuda bin Hasenua adalah wakil penguasa kota.
11:10 Of the priests: Jedaiah the son of Joiarib, Jachin.

11:13 And his brethren, chief of the fathers, two hundred forty and two: and Amashai the son of Azareel, the son of Ahasai, the son of Meshillemoth, the son of Immer,
13 dan saudara-saudaranya, kepala-kepala kaum keluarga: dua ratus empat puluh dua orang. Dan Amasai bin Asareel bin Ahzai bin Mesilemot bin Imer,
11:14 And their brethren, mighty men of valour, an hundred twenty and eight: and their overseer was Zabdiel, the son of one of the great men.
14 dan saudara-saudara mereka, pahlawan-pahlawan yang gagah perkasa, seratus dua puluh delapan orang dengan Zabdiel bin Gedolim sebagai pengawas mereka.
11:15 Also of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hashub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni;
15 Dari orang-orang Lewi: Semaya bin Hasub bin Azrikam bin Hasabya bin Buni.
11:16 And Shabbethai and Jozabad, of the chief of the Levites, had the oversight of the outward business of the house of God.

11:20 And the residue of Israel, of the priests, and the Levites, were in all the cities of Judah, every one in his inheritance.

11:23 For it was the king's commandment concerning them, that a certain portion should be for the singers, due for every day.

11:24 And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabeel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king's hand in all matters concerning the people.

12:23 The sons of Levi, the chief of the fathers, were written in the book of the chronicles, even until the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib.
23 Kepala-kepala kaum keluarga anak-anak Lewi tercatat dalam kitab sejarah sampai zaman Yohanan bin Elyasib.
12:24 And the chief of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brethren opposite to them, to praise and to give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, ward opposite to ward.
24 Inilah para kepala orang-orang Lewi: Hasabya, Serebya, Yesua bin Kadmiel, dan saudara-saudara mereka yang berdiri di hadapan mereka untuk menyanyikan puji-pujian dan syukur sesuai dengan perintah Daud, abdi Allah itu, kelompok di samping kelompok.
12:25 Mattaniah, and Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, Akkub, were porters keeping the ward at the thresholds of the gates.

12:26 These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of Ezra the priest, the scribe.
26 Mereka itu hidup pada zaman Yoyakim bin Yesua bin Yozadak dan pada zaman bupati Nehemia dan imam Ezra, ahli kitab itu.
12:27 And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps.

12:28 And the sons of the singers gathered themselves together, both out of the plain country round about Jerusalem, and from the villages of Netophathi;
28 Maka berkumpullah kaum penyanyi dari daerah sekitar Yerusalem, dari desa-desa orang Netofa,
12:29 Also from the house of Gilgal, and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth: for the singers had built them villages round about Jerusalem.
29 dari Bet-Gilgal, dari padang Geba dan Asmawet, karena para penyanyi itu telah mendirikan desa-desa sekitar Yerusalem.
12:30 And the priests and the Levites purified themselves, and purified the people, and the gates, and the wall.

12:31 Then I brought up the princes of Judah upon the wall, and appointed two great companies of them that gave thanks, whereof one went on the right hand upon the wall toward the dung gate:

12:32 And after them went Hoshaiah, and half of the princes of Judah,

12:33 And Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam,

12:35 And certain of the priests' sons with trumpets; namely, Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Michaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph:
35 dan dari kaum imam yang memegang nafiri: Zakharia bin Yonatan bin Semaya bin Matanya bin Mikha bin Zakur bin Asaf,
12:36 And his brethren, Shemaiah, and Azarael, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethaneel, and Judah, Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God, and Ezra the scribe before them.
36 dan saudara-saudaranya, yakni: Semaya, Azareel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Netaneel, Yehuda dan Hanani dengan bunyi-bunyian Daud, abdi Allah itu, sedang Ezra, ahli kitab itu berjalan di depan mereka.
12:37 And at the fountain gate, which was opposite to them, they went up by the stairs of the city of David, at the going up of the wall, above the house of David, even unto the water gate eastward.
37 Lalu pada pintu gerbang Mata Air mereka langsung naik tangga-tangga kota Daud, pada jalan pendakian tembok, lewat istana Daud, dan berjalan sampai pintu gerbang Air, di sebelah Timur.
12:38 And the other company of them that gave thanks went opposite to them, and I after them, and the half of the people upon the wall, from beyond the tower of the furnaces even unto the broad wall;
38 Dan paduan suara yang kedua berarak ke kiri dan aku mengikutinya dengan sebagian dari orang-orang itu melalui tembok dan menara Perapian sampai tembok Lebar.
12:39 And from above the gate of Ephraim, and above the old gate, and above the fish gate, and the tower of Hananeel, and the tower of Meah, even unto the sheep gate: and they stood still in the prison gate.
39 Lalu kami melalui pintu gerbang Efraim, pintu gerbang Lama, pintu gerbang Ikan, menara Hananeel dan menara Mea sampai pintu gerbang Domba. Mereka berhenti di pintu gerbang Penjagaan.
12:40 So stood the two companies of them that gave thanks in the house of God, and I, and the half of the rulers with me:

12:41 And the priests; Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Michaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets;
41 dan para imam, yakni: Elyakim, Maaseya, Minyamin, Mikha, Elyoenai, Zakharia, Hananya dengan memegang nafiri,
12:42 And Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer.
42 dan Maaseya, Semaya, Eleazar, Uzi, Yohanan, Malkia, Elam dan Ezer. Lalu para penyanyi memperdengarkan kidung di bawah pimpinan Yizrahya.
12:43 Also that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced: for God had made them rejoice with great joy: the wives also and the children rejoiced: so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even far off.
43 Pada hari itu mereka mempersembahkan korban yang besar. Mereka bersukaria karena Allah memberi mereka kesukaan yang besar. Juga segala perempuan dan anak-anak bersukaria, sehingga kesukaan Yerusalem terdengar sampai jauh.
12:44 And at that time were some appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the offerings, for the first-fruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions of the law for the priests and Levites: for Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited.
44 Pada masa itu beberapa orang diangkat untuk mengawasi bilik-bilik perbendaharaan, bilik-bilik untuk persembahan khusus, untuk hasil pertama dan untuk persembahan persepuluhan, supaya sumbangan yang menurut hukum menjadi bagian para imam dan orang-orang Lewi dikumpulkan di bilik-bilik itu sesuai dengan ladang setiap kota. Sebab Yehuda bersukacita karena para imam dan orang-orang Lewi yang bertugas.
12:45 And both the singers and the porters kept the ward of their God, and the ward of the purification, according to the commandment of David, and of Solomon his son.
45 Karena merekalah yang melakukan tugas pelayanan bagi Allah mereka dan tugas pentahiran, demikian juga para penyanyi dan para penunggu pintu gerbang, sesuai dengan perintah Daud dan Salomo, anaknya.
12:46 For in the days of David and Asaph of old there were chief of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving unto God.
46 Karena sudah sejak dahulu, pada zaman Daud dan Asaf, ada pemimpin-pemimpin penyanyi, ada nyanyian pujian dan nyanyian syukur bagi Allah.
12:47 And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel, and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and the porters, every day his portion: and they sanctified holy things unto the Levites; and the Levites sanctified them unto the children of Aaron.
47 Pada zaman Zerubabel dan Nehemia semua orang Israel memberikan sumbangan bagi para penyanyi dan para penunggu pintu gerbang sekadar yang perlu tiap-tiap hari dan mempersembahkan persembahan kudus kepada orang-orang Lewi. 13:1 On that day they read in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not come into the congregation of God for ever;
1 Pada masa itu bagian-bagian dari pada kitab Musa dibacakan dengan didengar oleh rakyat. Didapati tertulis dalam kitab itu, bahwa orang Amon dan orang Moab tidak boleh masuk jemaah Allah untuk selamanya.
13:2 Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: nevertheless our God turned the curse into a blessing.
2 Karena mereka tidak menyongsong orang Israel dengan roti dan air, malah mengupah Bileam melawan orang Israel supaya dikutukinya. Tetapi Allah kami mengubah kutuk itu menjadi berkat.
13:3 Now it came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude.
3 Ketika mereka mendengar pembacaan Taurat itu mereka memisahkan semua peranakan dari orang Israel.
13:4 And before this, Eliashib the priest, having the oversight of the chamber of the house of our God, was allied unto Tobiah:
4 Tetapi sebelum masa itu imam Elyasib yang diangkat untuk mengawasi bilik-bilik rumah Allah kami, dan yang mempunyai hubungan erat dengan Tobia,
13:5 And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where in old times they laid the food offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests.
5 menyediakan sebuah bilik besar bagi Tobia itu. Sebelumnya orang membawa ke bilik itu korban sajian, kemenyan, perkakas-perkakas dan persembahan persepuluhan dari pada gandum, anggur dan minyak yang menjadi hak orang-orang Lewi, para penyanyi dan para penunggu pintu gerbang, dan persembahan khusus bagi para imam.
13:6 But in all this time was not I at Jerusalem: for in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon came I unto the king, and after certain days obtained I leave of the king:
6 Ketika peristiwa itu terjadi aku tidak ada di Yerusalem, karena pada tahun ketiga puluh dua pemerintahan Artahsasta, raja Babel, aku pergi menghadap raja. Tetapi sesudah beberapa waktu aku minta izin dari raja untuk pergi.
13:7 And I came to Jerusalem, and understood of the evil that Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God.
7 Lalu aku tiba di Yerusalem dan melihat kejahatan yang dibuat Elyasib untuk keuntungan Tobia, sebab bagi Tobia ini telah disediakannya sebuah bilik di pelataran rumah Allah.
13:8 And it grieved me sore: therefore I cast forth all the household stuff to Tobiah out of the chamber.
8 Aku menjadi sangat kesal, lalu kulempar semua perabot rumah Tobia ke luar bilik itu.
13:9 Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: and thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the food offering and the frankincense.
9 Kemudian kusuruh tahirkan bilik itu, sesudah itu kubawa kembali ke sana perkakas-perkakas rumah Allah, korban sajian dan kemenyan.
13:10 And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them: for the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field.
10 Juga kudapati bahwa sumbangan-sumbangan bagi orang-orang Lewi tidak pernah diberikan, sehingga orang-orang Lewi dan para penyanyi yang bertugas masing-masing lari ke ladangnya.
13:11 Then contended I with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place.
11 Aku menyesali para penguasa, kataku: "Mengapa rumah Allah dibiarkan begitu saja?" Lalu kukumpulkan orang-orang Lewi itu dan kukembalikan pada tempatnya.
13:12 Then brought all Judah the tithe of the corn and the new wine and the oil unto the treasuries.
12 Maka seluruh orang Yehuda membawa lagi persembahan persepuluhan dari pada gandum, anggur dan minyak ke perbendaharaan.
13:13 And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah: for they were counted faithful, and their office was to distribute unto their brethren.
13 Sebagai pengawas-pengawas perbendaharaan kuangkat imam Selemya dan Zadok, seorang ahli kitab, dan Pedaya, seorang Lewi, sedang Hanan bin Zakur bin Matanya diperbantukan kepada mereka, karena orang-orang itu dianggap setia. Mereka diserahi tugas untuk mengurus pembagian kepada saudara-saudara mereka.
13:14 Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and wipe not out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for the offices thereof.
14 Ya Allahku, ingatlah kepadaku karena hal itu dan janganlah hapuskan segala perbuatan bakti yang telah kulakukan terhadap rumah Allahku dan segala pelayanan di dalamnya!
13:15 In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals.
15 Pada masa itu kulihat di Yehuda orang-orang mengirik memeras anggur pada hari Sabat, pula orang-orang yang membawa berkas-berkas gandum dan memuatnya di atas keledai, juga anggur, buah anggur dan buah ara dan pelbagai muatan yang mereka bawa ke Yerusalem pada hari Sabat. Aku memperingatkan mereka ketika mereka menjual bahan-bahan makanan.
13:16 There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.
16 Juga orang Tirus yang tinggal di situ membawa ikan dan pelbagai barang dagangan dan menjual itu kepada orang-orang Yehuda pada hari Sabat, bahkan di Yerusalem.
13:17 Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that all of you do, and profane the sabbath day?
17 Lalu aku menyesali pemuka-pemuka orang Yehuda, kataku kepada mereka: "Kejahatan apa yang kamu lakukan ini dengan melanggar kekudusan hari Sabat?
13:18 Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet all of you bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath.
18 Bukankah nenek moyangmu telah berbuat demikian, sehingga Allah kita mendatangkan seluruh malapetaka ini atas kita dan atas kota ini? Apakah kamu bermaksud memperbesar murka yang menimpa Israel dengan melanggar kekudusan hari Sabat?"
13:19 And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day.
19 Kalau sudah remang-remang di pintu-pintu gerbang Yerusalem menjelang hari Sabat, kusuruh tutup pintu-pintu dan kuperintahkan supaya jangan dibuka sampai lewat hari Sabat. Dan aku tempatkan beberapa orang dari anak buahku di pintu-pintu gerbang, supaya tidak ada muatan yang masuk pada hari Sabat.
13:20 So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged without Jerusalem once or twice.
20 Tetapi orang-orang yang berdagang dan berjualan rupa-rupa barang itu kemudian bermalam juga di luar tembok Yerusalem satu dua kali.
13:21 Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge all of you about the wall? if all of you do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the sabbath.
21 Lalu aku memperingatkan mereka, kataku: "Mengapa kamu bermalam di depan tembok? Kalau kamu berbuat itu sekali lagi akan kukenakan tanganku kepadamu." Sejak waktu itu mereka tidak datang lagi pada hari Sabat.
13:22 And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of your mercy.
22 Juga kusuruh orang-orang Lewi mentahirkan dirinya dan datang menjaga pintu-pintu gerbang untuk menguduskan hari Sabat. Ya Allahku, ingatlah kepadaku juga karena hal itu dan sayangilah aku menurut kasih setia-Mu yang besar!
13:23 In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:
23 Pada masa itu juga kulihat bahwa beberapa orang Yahudi memperisteri perempuan-perempuan Asdod, perempuan-perempuan Amon atau perempuan-perempuan Moab.
13:24 And their children spoke half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews' language, but according to the language of each people.
24 Sebagian dari anak-anak mereka berbicara bahasa Asdod atau bahasa bangsa lain itu dan tidak tahu berbicara bahasa Yahudi.
13:25 And I contended with them, and cursed them, and stroke certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, All of you shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves.
25 Aku menyesali mereka, kukutuki mereka, dan beberapa orang di antara mereka kupukuli dan kucabut rambutnya dan kusuruh mereka bersumpah demi Allah, demikian: "Jangan sekali-kali kamu serahkan anak-anak perempuanmu kepada anak-anak lelaki mereka, atau mengambil anak-anak perempuan mereka sebagai isteri untuk anak-anak lelakimu atau untuk dirimu sendiri!
13:26 Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did foreign women cause to sin.
26 Bukankah Salomo, raja Israel, telah berbuat dosa karena hal semacam itu? Walaupun di antara begitu banyak bangsa tidak ada seorang raja seperti dia, yang dikasihi Allahnya dan diangkat oleh Allah itu menjadi raja seluruh Israel, namun diapun terbawa ke dalam dosa oleh perempuan-perempuan asing itu.
13:27 Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God in marrying strange wives?
27 Apakah orang harus mendengar bahwa juga kamu berbuat segala kejahatan yang besar itu, yakni berubah setia terhadap Allah kita karena memperisteri perempuan-perempuan asing?"
13:28 And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me.
28 Seorang dari anak-anak Yoyada bin Elyasib, imam besar itu, adalah menantu Sanbalat, orang Horoni itu. Oleh sebab itu kuusir dia dari padaku.
13:29 Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.
29 Ya Allahku, ingatlah bagaimana mereka mencemarkan jabatan imam serta perjanjian mengenai para imam dan orang-orang Lewi.
13:30 Thus cleansed I them from all strangers, and appointed the wards of the priests and the Levites, every one in his business;
30 Kutahirkan mereka dari segala sesuatu yang asing dan kutetapkan tugas-tugas untuk para imam dan orang-orang Lewi, masing-masing dalam bidang pekerjaannya,
13:31 And for the wood offering, at times appointed, and for the first-fruits. Remember me, O my God, for good.
31 pula kutetapkan suatu cara untuk menyediakan kayu api pada waktu-waktu tertentu dan untuk hasil-hasil yang pertama. Ya Allahku, ingatlah kepadaku, demi kesejahteraanku!
