Amos / アモス書
1:1 テコアの牧者のひとりであるアモスの言葉。これはユダの王ウジヤの世、イスラエルの王ヨアシの子ヤラベアムの世、地震の二年前に、彼がイスラエルについて示されたものである。
1:1 The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
1:2 彼は言った、「主はシオンからほえ、エルサレムから声を出される。牧者の牧場は嘆き、カルメルの頂は枯れる」。
1:2 And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.
1:3 主はこう言われる、「ダマスコの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが鉄のすり板で、ギレアデを踏みにじったからである。
1:3 Thus says the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:
1:4 わたしはハザエルの家に火を送り、ベネハダデのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす。
1:4 But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.
1:5 わたしはダマスコの貫の木を砕き、アベンの谷から住民を断ち、ベテエデンから王のつえをとる者を断つ。スリヤの民はキルに捕えられて行く」と／主は言われる。
1:5 I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holds the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, says the LORD.
1:6 主はこう言われる、「ガザの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが人々をことごとく捕えて行って、エドムに渡したからである。
1:6 Thus says the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:
1:7 わたしはガザの石がきに火を送り、そのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす。
1:7 But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:
1:8 わたしはアシドドから住民を断ち、アシケロンから王のつえをとる者を断つ。わたしはまた手をかえしてエクロンを撃つ。そして残ったペリシテびとも滅びる」と／主なる神は言われる。
1:8 And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holds the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, says the Lord GOD.
1:9 主はこう言われる、「ツロの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが人々をことごとくエドムに渡し、また兄弟の契約を心に留めなかったからである。
1:9 Thus says the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:
1:10 それゆえ、わたしはツロの石がきに火を送り、そのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす」。
1:10 But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.
1:11 主はこう言われる、「エドムの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼がつるぎをもってその兄弟を追い、全くあわれみの情を断ち、常に怒って、人をかき裂き、ながくその憤りを保ったからである。
1:11 Thus says the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
1:12 それゆえ、わたしはテマンに火を送り、ボズラのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす」。
1:12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
1:13 主はこう言われる、「アンモンの人々の三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らがその国境を広げるために、ギレアデのはらんでいる女を／ひき裂いたからである。
1:13 Thus says the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:
1:14 それゆえ、わたしはラバの石がきに火をはなち、そのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす。これは戦いの日に、ときの声をもってせられ、つむじ風の日に、暴風をもってせられる。
1:14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:
1:15 彼らの王はそのつかさたちと共に／捕えられて行く」と主は言われる。
1:15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, says the LORD.
2:1 主はこう言われる、「モアブの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼がエドムの王の骨を焼いて／灰にしたからである。
2:1 Thus says the LORD; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:
2:2 それゆえ、わたしはモアブに火を送り、ケリオテのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす。モアブは騒ぎと、ときの声と、ラッパの音の中に死ぬ。
2:2 But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kirioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet:
2:3 わたしはそのうちから、支配者を断ち、そのすべてのつかさを彼と共に殺す」と／主は言われる。
2:3 And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, says the LORD.
2:4 主はこう言われる、「ユダの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが主の律法を捨て、その定めを守らず、その先祖たちが従い歩いた／偽りの物に惑わされたからである。
2:4 Thus says the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to go astray, after the which their fathers have walked:
2:5 それゆえ、わたしはユダに火を送り、エルサレムのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす」。
2:5 But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.
2:6 主はこう言われる、「イスラエルの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが正しい者を金のために売り、貧しい者をくつ一足のために売るからである。
2:6 Thus says the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;
2:7 彼らは弱い者の頭を地のちりに踏みつけ、苦しむ者の道をまげ、また父子ともにひとりの女のところへ行って、わが聖なる名を汚す。
2:7 That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:
2:8 彼らはすべての祭壇のかたわらに／質に取った衣服を敷いて、その上に伏し、罰金をもって得た酒を、その神の家で飲む。
2:8 And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.
2:9 さきにわたしはアモリびとを／彼らの前から滅ぼした。これはその高きこと、香柏のごとく、その強きこと、かしの木のようであったが、わたしはその上の実と、下の根とを滅ぼした。
2:9 Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
2:10 わたしはまた、あなたがたを／エジプトの地から連れ上り、四十年のあいだ荒野で、あなたがたを導き、アモリびとの地を獲させた。
2:10 Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.
2:11 わたしはあなたがたの子らのうちから／預言者を起し、あなたがたの若者のうちからナジルびとを起した。イスラエルの人々よ、そうではないか」と／主は言われる。
2:11 And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O all of you children of Israel? says the LORD.
2:12 「ところがあなたがたはナジルびとに酒を飲ませ、預言者に命じて『預言するな』と言う。
2:12 But all of you gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.
2:13 見よ、わたしは麦束をいっぱい積んだ車が／物を圧するように、あなたがたをその所で圧する。
2:13 Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves.
2:14 速く走る者も逃げ場を失い、強い者もその力をふるうことができず、勇士もその命を救うことができない。
2:14 Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself:
2:15 弓をとる者も立つことができず、足早の者も自分を救うことができず、馬に乗る者もその命を救うことができない。
2:15 Neither shall he stand that handles the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rides the horse deliver himself.
2:16 勇士のうちの雄々しい心の者も／その日には裸で逃げる」と／主は言われる。
2:16 And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, says the LORD.
3:1 イスラエルの人々よ、主があなたがたに向かって言われたこと、わたしがエジプトの地から導き上った／全家に向かって言ったこの言葉を聞け。
3:1 Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,
3:2 「地のもろもろのやからのうちで、わたしはただ、あなたがただけを知った。それゆえ、わたしはあなたがたの／もろもろの罪のため、あなたがたを罰する。
3:2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.
3:3 ふたりの者がもし約束しなかったなら、一緒に歩くだろうか。
3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
3:4 ししがもし獲物がなかったなら、林の中でほえるだろうか。若いししがもし物をつかまなかったなら、その穴から声を出すだろうか。
3:4 Will a lion roar in the forest, when he has no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?
3:5 もしわながなかったなら、鳥は地に張った網にかかるだろうか。網にもし何もかからなかったなら、地からとびあがるだろうか。
3:5 Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no animal trap is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?
3:6 町でラッパが鳴ったなら、民は驚かないだろうか。主がなされるのでなければ、町に災が起るだろうか。
3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD has not done it?
3:7 まことに主なる神は／そのしもべである預言者にその隠れた事を／示さないでは、何事をもなされない。
3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he reveals his secret unto his servants the prophets.
3:8 ししがほえる、だれが恐れないでいられよう。主なる神が語られる、だれが預言しないでいられよう」。
3:8 The lion has roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD has spoken, who can but prophesy?
3:9 アッスリヤにあるもろもろの宮殿、エジプトの地にあるもろもろの宮殿に宣べて言え、「サマリヤの山々に集まり、そのうちにある大いなる騒ぎと、その中で行われる暴虐とを見よ」と。
3:9 Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.
3:10 主は言われる、「彼らは正義を行うことを知らず、しえたげ取った物と奪い取った物とを／そのもろもろの宮殿にたくわえている」。
3:10 For they know not to do right, says the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.
3:11 それゆえ主なる神はこう言われる、「敵がきて、この国を囲み、あなたの防備をあなたから取り除き、あなたのもろもろの宮殿はかすめられる」。
3:11 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; An adversary there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down your strength from you, and your palaces shall be spoiled.
3:12 主はこう言われる、「羊飼がししの口から、羊の両足、あるいは片耳を取り返すように、サマリヤに住むイスラエルの人々も、長いすのすみや、寝台の一部を携えて救われるであろう」。
3:12 Thus says the LORD; As the shepherd takes out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch.
3:13 万軍の神、主なる神は言われる、「聞け、そしてヤコブの家に証言せよ。
3:13 Hear all of you, and testify in the house of Jacob, says the Lord GOD, the God of hosts,
3:14 わたしはイスラエルのもろもろのとがを罰する日に／ベテルの祭壇を罰する。その祭壇の角は折れて、地に落ちる。
3:14 That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.
3:15 わたしはまた冬の家と夏の家とを撃つ、象牙の家は滅び、大いなる家は消えうせる」と／主は言われる。
3:15 And I will strike the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, says the LORD.
4:1 「バシャンの雌牛どもよ、この言葉を聞け。あなたがたはサマリヤの山におり、弱い者をしえたげ、貧しい者を圧迫し、またその主人に向かって、『持ってきて、わたしたちに飲ませよ』と言う。
4:1 Hear this word, all of you cattle of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.
4:2 主なる神はご自分の聖なることによって誓われた、見よ、あなたがたの上にこのような時が来る。その時、人々はあなたがたをつり針にかけ、あなたがたの残りの者を／魚つり針にかけて引いて行く。
4:2 The Lord GOD has sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.
4:3 あなたがたはおのおのまっすぐに／石がきの破れた所を出て、ハルモンに追いやられる」と／主は言われる。
4:3 And all of you shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and all of you shall cast them into the palace, says the LORD.
4:4 「あなたがたはベテルへ行って罪を犯し、ギルガルへ行って、とがを増し加えよ。朝ごとに、あなたがたの犠牲を携えて行け、三日ごとに、あなたがたの十分の一を携えて行け。
4:4 Come to Bethel, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years:
4:5 種を入れたパンの感謝祭をささげ、心よりの供え物をふれ示せ。イスラエルの人々よ、あなたがたはこのようにするのを好んでいる」と／主なる神は言われる。
4:5 And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this likes you, O all of you children of Israel, says the Lord GOD.
4:6 「わたしはまた、あなたがたのすべての町で／あなたがたの歯を清くし、あなたがたのすべての所でパンを乏しくした。それでも、あなたがたはわたしに帰らなかった」と／主は言われる。
4:6 And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and lack of bread in all your places: yet have all of you not returned unto me, says the LORD.
4:7 「わたしはまた、刈入れまでなお三月あるのに／雨をとどめて、あなたがたの上にくださず、この町には雨を降らし、かの町には雨を降らさず、この畑は雨をえ、かの畑は雨をえないで枯れた。
4:7 And also I have withheld the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.
4:8 そこで二つ三つの町が／一つの町によろめいて行って、水を飲んでも、飽くことができなかった。それでも、あなたがたはわたしに帰らなかった」と／主は言われる。
4:8 So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have all of you not returned unto me, says the LORD.
4:9 「わたしは立ち枯れと腐り穂とをもって／あなたがたを撃ち、あなたがたの園と、ぶどう畑とを荒した。いちじくの木とオリブの木とは、いなごが食った。それでも、あなたがたはわたしに帰らなかった」と／主は言われる。
4:9 I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have all of you not returned unto me, says the LORD.
4:10 「わたしはエジプトにしたように／あなたがたのうちに疫病を送り、つるぎをもってあなたがたの若者を殺し、あなたがたの馬を奪い去り、あなたがたの宿営の臭気を上らせて、あなたがたの鼻をつかせた。それでも、あなたがたはわたしに帰らなかった」と／主は言われる。
4:10 I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have all of you not returned unto me, says the LORD.
4:11 「わたしはあなたがたのうちの町を／神がソドムとゴモラを滅ぼされた時のように／滅ぼしたので、あなたがたは炎の中から取り出された／燃えさしのようであった。それでも、あなたがたはわたしに帰らなかった」と／主は言われる。
4:11 I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and all of you were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have all of you not returned unto me, says the LORD.
4:12 「それゆえイスラエルよ、わたしはこのようにあなたに行う。わたしはこれを行うゆえ、イスラエルよ、あなたの神に会う備えをせよ」。
4:12 Therefore thus will I do unto you, O Israel: and because I will do this unto you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel.
4:13 見よ、彼は山を造り、風を創造し、人にその思いのいかなるかを示し、また、あけぼのを変えて暗やみとなし、地の高い所を踏まれる者、その名を万軍の神、主と言う。
4:13 For, lo, he that forms the mountains, and creates the wind, and declares unto man what is his thought, that makes the morning darkness, and treads upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.
5:1 イスラエルの家よ、わたしが悲しみの歌をもって、あなたがたについて宣べるこの言葉を聞け、
5:1 Hear all of you this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel.
5:2 「おとめイスラエルは倒れて、また起き上がらず、彼女はおのれの地に投げ倒されて／これを起す者がない」。
5:2 The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
5:3 主なる神はこう言われる、「イスラエルの家では、千人出た町は百人残り、百人出た町は十人残る」。
5:3 For thus says the Lord GOD; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.
5:4 主はイスラエルの家にこう言われる、「あなたがたはわたしを求めよ、そして生きよ。
5:4 For thus says the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek all of you me, and all of you shall live:
5:5 ベテルを求めるな、ギルガルに行くな。ベエルシバにおもむくな。ギルガルは必ず捕えられて行き、ベテルは無に帰するからである」。
5:5 But seek not Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beersheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nothing.
5:6 あなたがたは主を求めよ、そして生きよ。さもないと主は火のように／ヨセフの家に落ち下られる。火はこれを焼くが、ベテルのためにこれを消す者はひとりもない。
5:6 Seek the LORD, and all of you shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel.
5:7 あなたがた、公道をにがよもぎに変え、正義を地に投げ捨てる者よ。
5:7 All of you who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,
5:8 プレアデスおよびオリオンを造り、暗黒を朝に変じ、昼を暗くして夜となし、海の水を呼んで、地のおもてに注がれる者、その名は主という。
5:8 Seek him that makes the seven stars and Orion, and turns the shadow of death into the morning, and makes the day dark with night: that calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name:
5:9 主は滅びをたちまち強い者に臨ませられるので、滅びはついに城に臨む。
5:9 That strengthens the spoiled against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress.
5:10 彼らは門にいて戒める者を憎み、真実を語る者を忌みきらう。
5:10 They hate him that rebukes in the gate, and they detest him that speaks uprightly.
5:11 あなたがたは貧しい者を踏みつけ、彼から麦の贈り物をとるゆえ、あなたがたは切り石の家を建てても、その中に住むことはできない。美しいぶどう畑を作っても、その酒を飲むことはできない。
5:11 Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and all of you take from him burdens of wheat: all of you have built houses of hewn stone, but all of you shall not dwell in them; all of you have planted pleasant vineyards, but all of you shall not drink wine of them.
5:12 わたしは知る、あなたがたのとがは多く、あなたがたの罪は大きいからである。あなたがたは正しい者をしえたげ、まいないを取り、門で貧しい者を退ける。
5:12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.
5:13 それゆえ、このような時には賢い者は沈黙する、これは悪い時だからである。
5:13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.
5:14 善を求めよ、悪を求めるな。そうすればあなたがたは生きることができる。またあなたがたが言うように、万軍の神、主はあなたがたと共におられる。
5:14 Seek good, and not evil, that all of you may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as all of you have spoken.
5:15 悪を憎み、善を愛し、門で公義を立てよ。万軍の神、主は、あるいは／ヨセフの残りの者をあわれまれるであろう。
5:15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
5:16 それゆえ、主なる万軍の神、主はこう言われる、「すべての広場で泣くことがあろう。すべてのちまたで人々は／『悲しいかな、悲しいかな』と言う。また彼らは農夫を呼んできて嘆かせ、巧みな泣き女を招いて泣かせ、
5:16 Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the LORD, says thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the farmer to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.
5:17 またすべてのぶどう畑にも泣くことがあろう。それはわたしがあなたがたの中を／通るからである」と主は言われる。
5:17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through you, says the LORD.
5:18 わざわいなるかな、主の日を望む者よ、あなたがたは何ゆえ主の日を望むのか。これは暗くて光がない。
5:18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.
5:19 人がししの前を逃れてもくまに出会い、また家にはいって、手を壁につけると、へびにかまれるようなものである。
5:19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
5:20 主の日は暗くて、光がなく、薄暗くて輝きがないではないか。
5:20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
5:21 わたしはあなたがたの祭を憎み、かつ卑しめる。わたしはまた、あなたがたの聖会を喜ばない。
5:21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.
5:22 たといあなたがたは燔祭や素祭をささげても、わたしはこれを受けいれない。あなたがたの肥えた獣の酬恩祭は／わたしはこれを顧みない。
5:22 Though all of you offer me burnt offerings and your food offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
5:23 あなたがたの歌の騒がしい音を／わたしの前から断て。あなたがたの琴の音は、わたしはこれを聞かない。
5:23 Take you away from me the noise of your songs; for I will not hear the melody of your viols.
5:24 公道を水のように、正義をつきない川のように流れさせよ。
5:24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.
5:25 「イスラエルの家よ、あなたがたは四十年の間、荒野でわたしに犠牲と供え物をささげたか。
5:25 Have all of you offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
5:26 かえってあなたがたの王シクテをにない、あなたがたが自分で作ったあなたがたの偶像、星の神、キウンをになった。
5:26 But all of you have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which all of you made to yourselves.
5:27 それゆえわたしはあなたがたをダマスコのかなたに捕え移す」と、その名を万軍の神ととなえられる主は言われる。
5:27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, says the LORD, whose name is The God of hosts.
6:1 「わざわいなるかな、安らかにシオンにいる者、また安心してサマリヤの山にいる者、諸国民のかしらのうちの著名な人々で、イスラエルの家がきて従う者よ。
6:1 Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!
6:2 カルネに渡って見よ。そこから大ハマテに行き、またペリシテびとのガテに下って見よ。彼らはこれらの国にまさっているか。彼らの土地はあなたがたの土地よりも大きいか。
6:2 Pass all of you unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go all of you to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms? or their border greater than your border?
6:3 あなたがたは災の日を遠ざけ、強暴の座を近づけている。
6:3 All of you that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
6:4 わざわいなるかな、みずから象牙の寝台に伏し、長いすの上に身を伸ばし、群れのうちから小羊を取り、牛舎のうちから子牛を取って食べ、
6:4 That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;
6:5 琴の音に合わせて歌い騒ぎ、ダビデのように楽器を造り出し、
6:5 That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of music, like David;
6:6 鉢をもって酒を飲み、いとも尊い油を身にぬり、ヨセフの破滅を悲しまない者たちよ。
6:6 That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.
6:7 それゆえ今、彼らは捕われて、捕われ人のまっ先に立って行く。そしてかの身を伸ばした者どもの／騒ぎはやむであろう」。
6:7 Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and the banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed.
6:8 主なる神はおのれによって誓われた、（万軍の神、主は言われる、）「わたしはヤコブの誇を忌みきらい、そのもろもろの宮殿を憎む。わたしはこの町とすべてその中にいる者を渡す」。
6:8 The Lord GOD has sworn by himself, says the LORD the God of hosts, I detest the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.
6:9 一つの家に十人の者が残っていても、彼らは死に、
6:9 And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.
6:10 そしてその親戚、すなわちこれを焼く者は、骨を家から運びだすために、これを取り上げ、またその家の奥にいる者に向かって、「まだあなたと共にいる者があるか」と言い、「ない」との答がある時、かの人はまた「声を出すな、主の名をとなえるな」と言うであろう。
6:10 And a man's uncle shall take him up, and he that burns him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with you? and he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold your tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the LORD.
6:11 見よ、主は命じて、大きな家を撃って、みじんとなし、小さな家を撃って、切れ切れとされる。
6:11 For, behold, the LORD commands, and he will strike the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.
6:12 馬は岩の上を走るだろうか。人は牛で海を耕すだろうか。ところがあなたがたは公道を毒に変じ、正義の実をにがよもぎに変じた。
6:12 Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? for all of you have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock:
6:13 あなたがたはロデバルを喜び、「われわれは自分の力で／カルナイムを得たではないか」と言う。
6:13 All of you which rejoice in a thing of nothing, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?
6:14 それゆえ、万軍の神、主は言われる、「イスラエルの家よ、見よ、わたしは一つの国民を起して、あなたがたに敵対させる。彼らはハマテの入口からアラバの川まで／あなたがたを悩ます」。
6:14 But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, says the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness.
7:1 主なる神はこのようにわたしに示された。見よ、二番草のはえ出る初めに主は、いなごを造られた。見よ、その二番草は王の刈った後に、はえたものである。
7:1 Thus has the Lord GOD showed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.
7:2 そのいなごが地の青草を食い尽した時、わたしは言った、「主なる神よ、どうぞ、ゆるしてください。ヤコブは小さい者です、どうして立つことができましょう」。
7:2 And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD, forgive, I plead to you: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
7:3 主はこのことについて思いかえされ、「このことは起さない」と主は言われた。
7:3 The LORD repented for this: It shall not be, says the LORD.
7:4 主なる神はこのようにわたしに示された。見よ、主なる神はさばきのために火を呼ばれた。火は大淵を焼き、また地を焼こうとした。
7:4 Thus has the Lord GOD showed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.
7:5 その時わたしは言った、「主なる神よ、どうぞ、やめてください。ヤコブは小さい者です、どうして立つことができましょう」。
7:5 Then said I, O Lord GOD, cease, I plead to you: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
7:6 主はこのことについて思いかえされ、「このこともまた起さない」と主なる神は言われた。
7:6 The LORD repented for this: This also shall not be, says the Lord GOD.
7:7 また主はわたしに示された。見よ、主は測りなわをもって築いた石がきの上に立ち、その手に測りなわをもっておられた。
7:7 Thus he showed me: and, behold, the LORD stood upon a wall made by a plumb-line, with a plumb-line in his hand.
7:8 そして主はわたしに言われた、「アモスよ、あなたは何を見るか」。「測りなわ」とわたしが答えると、主はまた言われた、「見よ、わたしは測りなわを／わが民イスラエルの中に置く。わたしはもはや彼らを見過ごしにしない。
7:8 And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what see you? And I said, A plumb-line. Then said the LORD, Behold, I will set a plumb-line in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:
7:9 イサクの高き所は荒され、イスラエルの聖所は荒れはてる。わたしはつるぎをもって／ヤラベアムの家に立ち向かう」。
7:9 And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
7:10 時にベテルの祭司アマジヤは、イスラエルの王ヤラベアムに人をつかわして言う、「イスラエルの家のただ中で、アモスはあなたにそむきました。この地は彼のもろもろの言葉に耐えることができません。
7:10 Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.
7:11 アモスはこのように言っています、『ヤラベアムはつるぎによって死ぬ、イスラエルは必ず捕えられて行って、その国を離れる』と」。
7:11 For thus Amos says, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.
7:12 それからアマジヤはアモスに言った、「先見者よ、行ってユダの地にのがれ、かの地でパンを食べ、かの地で預言せよ。
7:12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O you seer, go, flee you away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:
7:13 しかしベテルでは二度と預言してはならない。ここは王の聖所、国の宮だから」。
7:13 But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it is the king's chapel, and it is the king's court.
7:14 アモスはアマジヤに答えた、「わたしは預言者でもなく、また預言者の子でもない。わたしは牧者である。わたしはいちじく桑の木を作る者である。
7:14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was a herdsman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
7:15 ところが主は群れに従っている所からわたしを取り、『行って、わが民イスラエルに預言せよ』と、主はわたしに言われた。
7:15 And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
7:16 それゆえ今、主の言葉を聞け。あなたは言う、『イスラエルに向かって預言するな、イサクの家に向かって語るな』と。
7:16 Now therefore hear you the word of the LORD: You says, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not your word against the house of Isaac.
7:17 それゆえ、主はこう言われる、『あなたの妻は町で遊女となり、あなたのむすこ、娘たちはつるぎに倒れ、あなたの地は測りなわで分かたれる。そしてあなたは汚れた地で死に、イスラエルは必ず捕えられて行って、その国を離れる』」。
7:17 Therefore thus says the LORD; Your wife shall be an harlot in the city, and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your land shall be divided by line; and you shall die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity out of his land.
8:1 主なる神は、このようにわたしに示された。見よ、ひとかごの夏のくだものがある。
8:1 Thus has the Lord GOD showed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.
8:2 主は言われた、「アモスよ、あなたは何を見るか」。わたしは「ひとかごの夏のくだもの」と答えた。すると主はわたしに言われた、「わが民イスラエルの終りがきた。わたしは再び彼らを見過ごしにしない。
8:2 And he said, Amos, what see you? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end has come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.
8:3 その日には宮の歌は嘆きに変り、しかばねがおびただしく、人々は無言でこれを至る所に投げ捨てる」と／主なる神は言われる。
8:3 And the songs of the temple shall be wailings in that day, says the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.
8:4 あなたがた、貧しい者を踏みつけ、また国の乏しい者を滅ぼす者よ、これを聞け。
8:4 Hear this, O all of you that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,
8:5 あなたがたは言う、「新月はいつ過ぎ去るだろう、そうしたら、われわれは穀物を売ろう。安息日はいつ過ぎ去るだろう、そうしたら、われわれは麦を売り出そう。われわれはエパを小さくし、シケルを大きくし、偽りのはかりをもって欺き、
8:5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?
8:6 乏しい者を金で買い、貧しい者をくつ一足で買いとり、また、くず麦を売ろう」。
8:6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?
8:7 主はヤコブの誇をさして誓われた、「わたしは必ず彼らのすべてのわざを／いつまでも忘れない。
8:7 The LORD has sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.
8:8 これがために地は震わないであろうか。地に住む者はみな嘆かないであろうか。地はみなナイル川のようにわきあがり、エジプトのナイル川のようにみなぎって、また沈まないであろうか」。
8:8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwells therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.
8:9 主なる神は言われる、「その日には、わたしは真昼に太陽を沈ませ、白昼に地を暗くし、
8:9 And it shall come to pass in that day, says the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:
8:10 あなたがたの祭を嘆きに変らせ、あなたがたの歌をことごとく悲しみの歌に変らせ、すべての人に荒布を腰にまとわせ、すべての人に髪をそり落させ、その日を、ひとり子を失った喪中のようにし、その終りを、苦い日のようにする」。
8:10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.
8:11 主なる神は言われる、「見よ、わたしがききんをこの国に送る日が来る、それはパンのききんではない、水にかわくのでもない、主の言葉を聞くことのききんである。
8:11 Behold, the days come, says the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
8:12 彼らは海から海へさまよい歩き、主の言葉を求めて、こなたかなたへはせまわる、しかしこれを得ないであろう。
8:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run back and forth to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
8:13 その日には美しいおとめも、若い男もかわきのために気を失う。
8:13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.
8:14 かのサマリヤのアシマをさして誓い、『ダンよ、あなたの神は生きている』と言い、また／『ベエルシバの道は生きている』と言う者どもは／必ず倒れる。再び起きあがることはない」。
8:14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Your god, O Dan, lives; and, The manner of Beersheba lives; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.
9:1 わたしは祭壇のかたわらに立っておられる主を見た。主は言われた、「柱の頭を打って、敷居を震わせ、これを打ち砕いて、すべての民の頭の上に落ちかからせよ。その残った者を、わたしはつるぎで殺し、そのひとりも逃げおおす者はなく、のがれうる者はない。
9:1 I saw the LORD standing upon the altar: and he said, Strike the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that flees of them shall not flee away, and he that escapes of them shall not be delivered.
9:2 たとい彼らは陰府に掘り下っても、わたしの手はこれをそこから引き出す。たとい彼らは天によじのぼっても、わたしはそこからこれを引きおろす。
9:2 Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down:
9:3 たとい彼らはカルメルの頂に隠れても、わたしはこれを捜して、そこから引き出す。たとい彼らはわたしの目をのがれて、海の底に隠れても、わたしはへびに命じて、その所でこれをかませる。
9:3 And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them:
9:4 たとい彼らは捕われて、その敵の前に行っても、わたしはその所でつるぎに命じて、これを殺させる。わたしは彼らの上にわたしの目を注ぐ、それは災のためであって、幸のためではない」。
9:4 And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.
9:5 万軍の神、主が地に触れられると、地は溶け、その中に住む者はみな嘆き、地はみなナイル川のようにわきあがり、エジプトのナイル川のようにまた沈む。
9:5 And the Lord GOD of hosts is he that touches the land, and it shall melt, and all that dwell therein shall mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like a flood; and shall be drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.
9:6 主はご自分の高殿を天に築き、大空の基を地の上にすえ、海の水を呼んで、地のおもてに注がれる。その名は主ととなえられる。
9:6 It is he that builds his stories in the heaven, and has founded his troop in the earth; he that calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name.
9:7 主は言われる、「イスラエルの子らよ、あなたがたはわたしにとって／エチオピヤびとのようではないか。わたしはイスラエルをエジプトの国から、ペリシテびとをカフトルから、スリヤびとをキルから導き上ったではないか。
9:7 Are all of you not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? says the LORD. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir?
9:8 見よ、主なる神の目は／この罪を犯した国の上に注がれている。わたしはこれを地のおもてから断ち滅ぼす。しかし、わたしはヤコブの家を／ことごとくは滅ぼさない」と主は言われる。
9:8 Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, says the LORD.
9:9 「見よ、わたしは命じて、人がふるいで物をふるうように、わたしはイスラエルの家を万国民のうちでふるう。ひと粒も地に落ちることはない。
9:9 For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.
9:10 わが民の罪びと、すなわち／『災はわれわれに近づかない、われわれに臨まない』と／言う者どもはみな、つるぎで殺される。
9:10 All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.
9:11 その日には、わたしはダビデの倒れた幕屋を興し、その破損を繕い、そのくずれた所を興し、これを昔の時のように建てる。
9:11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:
9:12 これは彼らがエドムの残った者、およびわが名をもって呼ばれるすべての国民を／所有するためである」と／この事をなされる主は言われる。
9:12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, says the LORD that does this.
9:13 主は言われる、「見よ、このような時が来る。その時には、耕す者は刈る者に相継ぎ、ぶどうを踏む者は種まく者に相継ぐ。もろもろの山にはうまい酒がしたたり、もろもろの丘は溶けて流れる。
9:13 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that sows seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt.
9:14 わたしはわが民イスラエルの幸福をもとに返す。彼らは荒れた町々を建てて住み、ぶどう畑を作ってその酒を飲み、園を作ってその実を食べる。
9:14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
9:15 わたしは彼らをその地に植えつける。彼らはわたしが与えた地から／再び抜きとられることはない」と／あなたの神、主は言われる。
9:15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, says the LORD your God.
