1:1 神の御旨によるキリスト・イエスの使徒パウロと兄弟テモテから、
1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,
1:2 コロサイにいる、キリストにある聖徒たち、忠実な兄弟たちへ。わたしたちの父なる神から、恵みと平安とが、あなたがたにあるように。
1:2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1:3 わたしたちは、いつもあなたがたのために祈り、わたしたちの主イエスキリストの父なる神に感謝している。
1:3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
1:4 これは、キリスト・イエスに対するあなたがたの信仰と、すべての聖徒に対していだいているあなたがたの愛とを、耳にしたからである。
1:4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the (o. agape) love which all of you have to all the saints,
1:5 この愛は、あなたがたのために天にたくわえられている望みに基づくものであり、その望みのついては、あなたがたはすでに、あなたがたのところまで伝えられた福音の真理の言葉によって聞いている。
1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof all of you heard before in the (o. logos) word of the truth of the gospel;
1:6 そして、この福音は、世界中いたる所でそうであるように、あなたがたのところでも、これを聞いて神の恵みを知ったとき以来、実を結んで成長しているのである。
1:6 Which has come unto you, as it is in all the world; and brings forth fruit, as it does also in you, since the day all of you heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
1:7 あなたがたはこの福音を、わたしたちと同じ僕である。愛するエパフラスから学んだのであった。彼はあなたがたのためにキリストの忠実な奉仕者であって、
1:7 As all of you also learned of Epaphras our dear fellow servant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;
1:8 あなたがたが御霊によっていだいている愛を、わたしたちに知らせてくれたのである。
1:8 Who also declared unto us your (o. agape) love in the (o. pneuma) Spirit.
1:9 そういうわけで、これらの事を耳にして以来、わたしたちも絶えずあなたがたのために祈りもとめているのは、あなたがたがあらゆる霊的な知恵と理解力とをもって、神の御旨を深く知り、
1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that all of you might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
1:10 主のみこころにかなった生活をして真に主を喜ばせ、あらゆる良いわざを行って実を結び、神を知る知識をいよいよ増し加えるに至ることである。
1:10 That all of you might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
1:11 更にまた祈るのは、あなたがたが、神の栄光の勢いにしたがって賜るすべての力によって強くされ、何事も喜んで耐えかつ忍び、
1:11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
1:12 光のうちにある聖徒たちの特権にあずかるに足りる者とならせて下さった父なる神に、感謝することである。
1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
1:13 神は、わたしたちをやみの力から救い出して、その愛する御子の支配化に移して下さった。
1:13 Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his (o. agape) dear Son:
1:14 わたしたちは、この御子によってあがない、すなわち、罪のゆるしを受けているのである。
1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
1:15 御子は、見えない神のかたちであって、すべての造られたものに先だって生まれたかたである。
1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
1:16 万物は、天にあるものも地にあるものも、見えるものも見えないものも、位も主権も、支配も権威も、みな御子にあって造られたからである。これらいっさいのものは、御子によって造られ、御子のために造られてのである。
1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
1:17 彼は万物よりも先にあり、万物は彼にあって成り立っている。
1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
1:18 そして自らは、そのからだなる教会のかしらである。彼は初めの者であり、死人の中から最初に生まれたかたである。それは、ご自身がすべてのことにおいて第一の者となるためである。
1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
1:19 神は、御旨によって、御子のうちにすべての道みちた徳を宿らせ、
1:19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell;
1:20 そして、その十字架の血によって平和をつくり、万物、すなわち、地にあるもの、天にあるものを、ことごとく、彼によってご自分と和解させて下さったのである。
1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
1:21 あなたがたも、かつては悪い行いをして神から離れ、心の中で神に敵対していた。
1:21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now has he reconciled
1:22 しかし今では、御子はその肉のからだにより、その死をとおして、あなたがたを神と和解させ、あなたがたを聖なる、傷のない、責められるところのない者として、みまえに立たせて下さったのである。
1:22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and irreproachable in his sight:
1:23 ただし、あなたがたは、ゆるぐことがなく、しっかりと信仰にふみとどまり、すでに聞いている福音の望みから移り行くことのないようにすべきである。この福音は、天の下にあるすべての造られたものに対して宣べ伝えられたものであって、それにこのパウロが奉仕しているのである。
1:23 If all of you continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which all of you have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
1:24 今わたしは、あなたがたのために苦難を喜んで受けており、キリストのからだなる教会のために、キリストの苦しみのなお足りないところを、わたしの肉体をもって補っている。
1:24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:
1:25 わたしは、神の言を告げひろめる努を、あなたがたのために神から与えられているが、そのために教会に奉仕する者になっているのである。
1:25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfill the (o. logos) word of God;
1:26 その言の奥義は、代々にわたってこの世から隠されていたが、今や神の聖徒たちに明らかにされたのである。
1:26 Even the mystery which has been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
1:27 神は彼らに、異邦人の受くべきこの奥義が、いかに栄光に富んだものであるかを、知らせようとされたのである。この奥義は、あなたがたのうちにいますキリストであり、栄光の望みである。
1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
1:28 わたしたちはこのキリストを宣べ伝え、知恵をつくしてすべての人を訓戒し、また、すべての人を教えている。それは、彼らがキリストにあって全き者として立つようになるためである。
1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
1:29 わたしはこのために、わたしのうちに力強く働いておられるかたの力により、苦闘しながら努力しているのである。
1:29 Unto which I also labour, striving according to his working, which works in me mightily.
2:1 わたしが、あなたがたとラオデキヤにいる人たちのため、また、直接にはまだ会ったことのない人々のために、どんなに苦闘しているか、わかってもらいたい、
2:1 For I would that all of you knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
2:2 それは彼らが、心を励まされ、愛によって結び会わされ、豊かな理解力を十分に与えられ、神の奥義なるキリストを知るに至るためである。
2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in (o. agape) love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
2:3 キリストのうちには、知恵と知識との宝が、いっさい隠されている。
2:3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
2:4 わたしがこう言うのは、あなたがたが、だれにも巧みな言葉で迷わされることのないためである。
2:4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
2:5 たとい、わたしはにくたいにおいては離れていても、霊においてはあなたがたと一緒にいて、あなたがたの秩序正しい様子とキリストに対するあなたがたの強固な信仰とを見て、喜んでいる。
2:5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the (o. pneuma) spirit, rejoicing and beholding your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.
2:6 このように、あなたがたは主キリスト・イエスを受けいれたのだから、彼にあって歩きなさい。
2:6 As all of you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk all of you in him:
2:7 また、彼に根ざし、彼にあって建てられ、そして教えられたように、信仰が確立されて、あふれるばかり感謝しなさい。
2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as all of you have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
2:8 あなたがたは、むなしいだましごとの哲学で、人のとりこにされないように、気をつけなさい。それはキリストに従わず、世のもろもろの霊力に従う人間の言い伝えに基づくものにすぎない。
2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
2:9 キリストにこそ、満ちみちているいっさいの神の徳が、かたちをとって宿っており、
2:9 For in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
2:10 そしてあなたがたは、キリストにあって、それに満たされているのである。彼はすべての支配と権威とのかしらであり、
2:10 And all of you are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
2:11 あなたがたはまた、彼にあって、手によらない割礼、すなわち、キリストの割礼を受けて、肉のからだを脱ぎ捨てたのである。
2:11 In whom also all of you are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
2:12 あなたがたはバプテスマを受けて彼と共に葬られ、同時に、彼を死人の中からよみがえらせた神の力を信じる信仰によって、彼と共によみがえらされたのである。
2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also all of you are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who has raised him from the dead.
2:13 あなたがたは、先には罪の中にあり、かつ肉の割礼がないままで死んでいた者であるが、神は、あなたがたをキリストと共に生かし、わたしたちのいっさいの罪をゆるして下さった。
2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
2:14 神は、わたしたちを責めて不利におとしいれる証書を、その規定もろともぬり消し、これを取り除いて、十字架につけてしまわれた。
2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
2:15 そして、もろもろの支配と権威との武装を解除し、キリストにあって凱旋し、彼らをその行列に加えて、さらしものとされたのである。
2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
2:16 だから、あなたがたは、食物と飲物とにつき、あるいは祭や新月や安息日などについて、だれにも批評されてはならない。
2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in food, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
2:17 これらは、きたるべきものの影であって、その本体はキリストである。
2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
2:18 あなたがたは、わざとらしい謙そんと天使礼拝とにおぼれている人々から、いろいろと悪評されてはならない。彼らは幻を見たことを重んじ、肉の思いによっていたずらに誇るだけて、
2:18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
2:19 キリストなるかしらに、しっかりと着くことをしない。このかしらから出て、からだ全体は、節と節、筋と筋とによって強められ結び会わされ、神に育てられ成長していくのである。
2:19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increases with the increase of God.
2:20 もしあなたがたが、キリストと共に死んで世のもろもろの霊力から離れたのなら、なぜ、なおこの世に生きているもののように、
2:20 Wherefore if all of you be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are all of you subject to ordinances,
2:21 「さわるな、味わうな、触れるな」などという規定に縛られているのか。
2:21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
2:22 これらは皆、使えば尽きてしまうもの、人間の規定や教えによっているものである。
2:22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
2:23 これらのことは、ひとりよがりの礼拝とわざとらしい謙そんと、からだの苦行とをともなうので、知恵のあるしわざらしく見えるが、実は、ほしいままな肉欲を防ぐのに、なんの役にも立つものではない。
2:23 Which things have indeed a (o. logos) show of wisdom religious outlook, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
3:1 このように、あなたがたはキリストと共によみがえらされたのだから、上にあるものを求めなさい。そこではキリストが神の右に座しておられるのである。
3:1 If all of you then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God.
3:2 あなたがたは上にあるものを思うべきであって、地上のものに心を引かれてはならない。
3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3:3 あなたがたはすでに死んだものであって、あなたがたのいのちは、キリストと共に神のうちに隠されているのである。
3:3 For all of you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
3:4 わたしたちのいのちなるキリストが現れる時には、あなたがたも、キリストと共に栄光のうちに現れるであろう。
3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall all of you also appear with him in glory.
3:5 だから、地上の肢体、すなわち、不品行、汚れ、情欲、悪欲、また貪欲を殺してしまいなさい。貪欲は偶像礼拝にほかならない。
3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
3:6 これらのことのために、神の怒りが下るのである。
3:6 For which things' sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience:
3:7 あなたがたも、以前これらのうちに日を過ごしていた時には、これらのことをして歩いていた。
3:7 In the which all of you also walked some time, when all of you lived in them.
3:8 しかし今は、いっさいこれらのことを捨て、怒り、憤り、悪意、そしり、口から出る恥ずべき言葉を、捨ててしまいなさい。
3:8 But now all of you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
3:9 互いにうそを言ってはならない。あなたがたは、古き人をその行いと一緒に脱ぎ捨て、
3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that all of you have put off the old man with his deeds;
3:10 造り主のかたちに従って新しくされ、真の知識に至る新しき人を着たのである。
3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
3:11 そこには、もはやギリシャ人とユダヤ人、割礼と無割礼、未開の人、スクテヤ人、奴隷、自由人の差別はない。キリストがすべてであり、すべてのもののうちにいますのである。
3:11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Savages, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
3:12 だから、あなたがたは、神に選ばれた者、聖なる、愛されている者であるから、あわれみの心、慈愛、謙そん、柔和、寛容を身に着けなさい。
3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
3:13 互いに忍びあい、もし互に責むべきことがあれば、ゆるし合いなさい。しゅもあなたがたをゆるして下さったのだから、そのように、あなたがたもゆるし合いなさい。
3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do all of you.
3:14 これらいっさいのものの上に、愛を加えなさい。愛は、すべてを完全に結ぶ帯である。
3:14 And above all these things put on (o. agape) love, which is the bond of perfection.
3:15 キリストの平和が、あなたがたの心を支配するようにしなさい。あなたがたが召されて一体となったのは、このためでもある。いつも感謝していなさい。
3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also all of you are called in one body; and be all of you thankful.
3:16 キリストの言葉を、あなたがたのうちに豊かに宿らせなさい。そして、知恵をつくして互に教えまた訓戒し、詩とさんびと霊の歌とによって、感謝して心から神をほめたたえなさい。
3:16 Let the (o. logos) word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
3:17 そして、あなたのすることはすべて、言葉によるとわざによるとを問わず、いっさい主イエスの名によってなし、彼によって父なる神に感謝しなさい。
3:17 And whatsoever all of you do in (o. logos) word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
3:18 妻たる者よ、夫に仕えなさい。それが、主にある者にふさわしいことである。
3:18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
3:19 夫たる者よ、妻を愛しなさい。つらくあたってはいけない。
3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
3:20 子たる者よ、何事についても両親に従いなさい。これが主に喜ばれることである。
3:20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
3:21 父たる者よ、子共をいらだたせてはいけない。心がいじけるかも知れないから、
3:21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
3:22 僕たる者よ、何事についても、肉による主人に従いなさい。人にへつらおうとして、目先だけの勤めをするのではなく、真心をこめて主を恐れつつ、従いなさい。
3:22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eye-service, as men-pleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;
3:23 何をするにも、人に対してではなく、主に対してするように、心から働きなさい。
3:23 And whatsoever all of you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
3:24 あなたがたが知っているとおり、あなたがたは御国をつぐことを、報いとして主から受けるであろう。あなたがたは、主キリストに仕えているのである。
3:24 Knowing that of the Lord all of you shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for all of you serve the Lord Christ.
3:25 不正を行う者は、自分の行った不正に対して報いを受けるであろう。それには差別扱いはない。
3:25 But he that does wrong shall receive for the wrong which he has done: and there is no respect of persons.
4:1 主人たる者よ、僕を正しく公平に扱いなさい。あなたがたにも主が天にいますことが、わかっているのだから。
4:1 Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that all of you also have a Master in heaven.
4:2 目をさまして、感謝のうちに祈り、ひたすら祈り続けなさい。
4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
4:3 同時にわたしたちのためにも、神の御言のために門を開いて下さって、わたしたちがキリストの奥義を語れるように（わたしは、実は、そのために獄につながれているのである）、
4:3 Likewise praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of (o. logos) utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:
4:4 また、わたしが語るべきことはっきりと語れるように、祈ってほしい。
4:4 That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
4:5 今の時を生かして用い、そとの人に対して賢く行動しなさい。
4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
406いつも、塩で味つけられた、やさしい言葉を使いなさい。そうすれば、ひとりびとりに対してどう答えるべきか、わかるであろう。
4:6 Let your (o. logos) speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that all of you may know how all of you ought to answer every man.
4:7 わたしの様子については、主にあって共に僕であり、また忠実に仕えている愛する兄弟テキコが、あなたがたにいっさいのことを報告するであろう。
4:7 All my state shall Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and fellow servant in the Lord:
4:8 わたしが彼をあなたがたのもとに送るのは、わたしたちの様子を知り、また彼によって心の励ましを受けるためなのである。
4:8 Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your estate, and comfort your hearts;
4:9 あなたがたのひとり、忠実な愛する兄弟オネシモをも、彼と共に送る。彼はあなたがたに、こちらのいっさいの事情を知らせるであろう。
4:9 With Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They shall make known unto you all things which are done here.
4:10 わたしと一緒に捕らわれの身となっているアリスタルコと、バルナバのいとこのマルコとが、あなたがたによろしくと言っている。このマルコについては、もし彼があなたがたのもとに行くなら、迎えてやるようにとのさしずを、あなたがたはすでに受けているはずである。
4:10 Aristarchus my fellow-prisoner salutes you, and Marcus, sister's (concerning whom all of you received commandments: if he comes unto you, receive him;)
4:11 また、ユストと呼ばれているイエスからもよろしく、割礼の者の中で、この三人だけが神の国のために働く同労者であって、わたしの慰めとなった者である。
4:11 And Jesus, which is called Justus, who are of the circumcision. These only are my fellow workers unto the kingdom of God, which have been a comfort unto me.
4:12 あなたがたのうちのひとり、キリスト・イエスの僕エパフラスから、よろしく。彼はいつも、祈りのうちであなたがたを覚え、あなたがたが全き人となり、神の御旨をことごとく確信して立つようにと、熱心に祈っている。
4:12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, salutes you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that all of you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
4:13 わたしは、彼があなたがたのため、またラオデキヤとヒエラポリスの人のために、ひじょうに心労していることを、証言する。
4:13 For I bear him record, that he has a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis.
4:14 愛する医者ルカとデマスとが、あなたがたによろしく。
4:14 Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you.
4:15 ラオデキヤの兄弟たちに、またヌンパとさの家にある教会とに、よろしく。
4:15 Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house.
4:16 この手紙があなたがたの所で朗読されたら、ラオデキヤの教会でも朗読されるように、取り計らってほしい。またラオデキヤからまわって来る手紙を、あなたがたも朗読してほしい。
4:16 And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that all of you likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.
4:17 アルキポに、「主にあって受けた努めをよく果たすように」と伝えてほしい。
4:17 And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you fulfill it.
4:18 パウロ自身が、手ずからこのあいさつを書く。わたしが獄につながれていることを、覚えていてほしい。恵みが、あなたがたと共にあるように。
4:18 The salutation by the hand of me Paul. Remember my bonds. Grace be with you. Amen.
