Mark / マルコによる福音書 第一章
1:1 神の子イエス・キリストの福音のはじめ。
1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
1:2 預言者イザヤの書に、「見よ、わたしは使いをあなたの先につかわし、あなたの道を整えさせるであろう。
1:2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, which shall prepare your way before you.
1:3 荒野で呼ばわるものの声がする、『主の道を整えよ、その道筋をまっすぐにせよ』」と書いてあるように、
1:3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare all of you the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
1:4 バプテスマのヨハネが荒野に現れて、罪のゆるしを得させる悔改めのバプテスマを宣べ伝えていた。
1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
1:5 そこで、ユダヤ全土とエルサレムの全住民とが、彼のもとにぞくぞくと出て行って、自分の罪を告白し、ヨルダン川でヨハネからバプテスマを受けた。
1:5 And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
1:6 このヨハネは、らくだの毛ごろもを身にまとい、腰に皮の帯をしめ、いなごと野蜜とを食物としていた。
1:6 And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;
1:7 彼は宣べ伝えて言った、「わたしより力のあるかたが、あとからおいでになる。わたしはかがんで、そのくつのひもを解く値うちもない。
1:7 And preached, saying, There comes one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.
1:8 わたしは水でバプテスマを授けたが、このかたは、聖霊によってバプテスマをお授けになるであろう」。
1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit. (o. pneuma)
1:9 そのころ、イエスはガリラヤのナザレから出てきて、ヨルダン川で、ヨハネからバプテスマをお受けになった。
1:9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
1:10 そして、水の中から上がられるとすぐ、天が裂けて、聖霊がはとのように自分に下って来るのを、ごらんになった。
1:10 And immediately coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit (o. pneuma) like a dove descending upon him:
1:11 すると天から声があった、「あなたはわたしの愛する子、わたしの心にかなう者である」。
1:11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
1:12 それからすぐに、御霊がイエスを荒野に追いやった。
1:12 And immediately the spirit (o. pneuma) drives him into the wilderness.
1:13 イエスは四十日のあいだ荒野にいて、サタンの試みにあわれた。そして獣もそこにいたが、御使たちはイエスに仕えていた。
1:13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.
1:14 ヨハネが捕らえられた後、イエスはガリラヤに行き、神の福音を宣べ伝えて言われた、
1:14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
1:15 「時は満ちた、神の国は近づいた。悔い改めて福音を信ぜよ」。
1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent all of you, and believe the gospel.
1:16 さて、イエスはガリラヤの海べを歩いて行かれ、シモンとシモンの兄弟アンデレとが、海で網を打っているのをごらんになった。彼らは漁師であった。
1:16 Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
1:17 イエスは彼らに言われた、「わたしについてきなさい。あなたがたを、人間をとる漁師にしてあげよう」。
1:17 And Jesus said unto them, Come all of you after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
1:18 すると、彼らはすぐ網を捨てて、イエスに従った。
1:18 And immediately they forsook their nets, and followed him.
1:19 またすこし進んで行かれると、ゼベタイの子ヤコブとその兄弟ヨハネとが、船の中で網を繕っているのをごらんになった。
1:19 And when he had gone a little farther thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.
1:20 そこで、すぐ彼らをお招きになると、父ゼベダイを雇人たちと一緒に船において、イエスのあとについて行った。
1:20 And immediately he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.
1:21 それから、彼らはカペナウムに行った。そして安息日にすぐ、イエスは会堂にはいって教えられた。
1:21 And they went into Capernaum; and immediately on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.
1:22 人々は、その教えに驚いた。律法学者たちのようにではなく、権威ある者のように、教えたからである。
1:22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
1:23 ちょうどその時、けがれた霊につかれた者が会堂にいて、叫んで言った、
1:23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; (o. pneuma) and he cried out,
1:24 「ナザレのイエスよ、あなたはわたしたちとなんの係わりがあるのです。わたしたちを滅ぼしにこられたのですか。あなたはどなたであるか、わかっています。神の聖者です」。
1:24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with you, you Jesus of Nazareth? are you come to destroy us? I know you who you are, the Holy One of God.
1:25 イエスはこれをしかって、「黙れ、この人から出て行け」と言われた。
1:25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold your peace, and come out of him.
1:26 すると、けがれた霊は彼をひきつけさせ、大声をあげて、その人から出て行った。
1:26 And when the unclean spirit (o. pneuma) had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.
1:27 人々はみな驚きのあまり、互いに論じて言った、「これは、いったい何事か。権威ある新しい教えだ。けがれた霊にさえ命じられると、彼らは従うのだ」。
1:27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commands he even the unclean spirits, (o. pneuma) and they do obey him.
1:28 こうしてイエスのうわさは、たちまちガリラヤの全地方、いたる所にひろまった。
1:28 And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.
1:29 それから会堂を出るとすぐ、ヤコブとヨハネとを連れて、シモンとアンデレとの家にはいって行かれた。
1:29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
1:30 ところが、シモンのしゅうとめが熱病で床についていたので、人々はさっそく、そのことをイエスに知らせた。
1:30 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and soon they tell him of her.
1:31 イエスは近寄り、その手をとって起こされると、熱が引き、女は彼らをもてなした。
1:31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.
1:32 夕暮れになり日が沈むと、人々は病人や悪霊につかれた者をみな、イエスのところに連れてきた。
1:32 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.
1:33 こうして、町中の者が戸口に集まった。
1:33 And all the city was gathered together at the door.
1:34 イエスは、さまざきな病をわずらっている多くの人々をいやし、また悪霊を追い出された。また、悪霊どもに、物言うことをお許しにならなかった。彼らがイエスを知っていたからである。
1:34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.
1:35 朝早く、夜の明けるよほど前に、イエスは起きて寂しい所へ出て行き、そこで祈っておられた。
1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
1:36 すると、シモンとその仲間とが、あとを追ってきた。
1:36 And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.
1:37 そしてイエスを見つけて、「みんなが、あなたを捜しています」と言った。
1:37 And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for you.
1:38 イエスは彼らに言われた、「ほかの、付近の町々にみんなで行って、そこでも教えを宣べ伝えよう。わたしはこのために出てきたのだから」。
1:38 And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.
1:39 そして、ガリラヤ全地を巡りあるいて、諸会堂で教えを宣べ伝え、また悪霊を追い出された。
1:39 And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.
1:40 ひとりのらい病人が、イエスのところに願いにきて、ひざまずいて言った、「みこころでしたら、きよめていただけるのですが」。
1:40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If you will, you can make me clean.
1:41 イエスは深くあわれみ、手を伸ばして彼にさわり、「そうしてあげよう、きよくなれ」と言われた。
1:41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and says unto him, I will; be you clean.
1:42 すると、らい病が直ちに去って、その人はきよくなった。
1:42 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.
1:43 イエスは彼をきびしく戒めて、すぐそこを去らせ、こう言い聞かせられた、
1:43 And he strictly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;
1:44 「何も人に話さないように、注意しなさい。ただ行って、自分のからだを祭司に見せ、それから、モーセが命じた物をあなたのきよめのためにささげて、人々に証明しなさい」。
1:44 And says unto him, See you say nothing to any man: but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
1:45 しかし、彼は出て行って、自分の身に起こったことを盛んに語り、また言いひろめはじめたので、イエスはもはや表立っては町に、はいることができなくなり、外の寂しい所にとどまっておられた。しかし、人々は方々から、イエスのところにぞくぞくと集まってきた。
1:45 But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, (o. logos) insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.

2:1 幾日かたって、イエスがまたカペナウムにお帰りになったとき、家におられるといううわさが立ったので、
2:1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
2:2 多くの人々が集まってきて、もはや戸口のあたりまでも、すきまが無いほどになった。そして、イエスは御言を彼らに語っておられた。
2:2 And immediately many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word (o. logos) unto them.
2:3 すると、人々がひとりの中風の者を四人の人に運ばせて、イエスのところに連れてきた。
2:3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
2:4 ところが、群衆のために近寄ることができないので、イエスのおられるあたりの屋根をはぎ、穴をあけて、中風の者を寝かせたまま、床につりおろした。
2:4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
2:5 イエスは信仰を見て、中風の者に、「子よ、あなたの罪はゆるされた」と言われた。
2:5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, your sins be forgiven you.
2:6 ところが、そこに幾人かの律法学者がすわっていて、心の中で論じた、
2:6 But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
2:7 「この人は、なぜあんなことを言うのか。それは神をけがすことだ。神ひとりのほかに、だれが罪をゆるすことができるか」。
2:7 Why does this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
2:8 イエスは、彼らが内心このように論じているのを、自分の心ですぐ見ぬいて、「なぜ、あなたがたは心の中でそんなことを論じているのか。
2:8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit (o. pneuma) that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason all of you these things in your hearts?
2:9 中風の者に、あなたの罪はゆるされた、と言うのと、起きよ、床を取りあげて歩け、と言うのと、どちらがたやすいか。
2:9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Your sins be forgiven you; or to say, Arise, and take up your bed, and walk?
2:10 しかし、人の子は地上で罪をゆるす権威をもっていることが、あなたがたにわかるために」と彼らに言い、中風の者にむかって、
2:10 But that all of you may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, (he says to the sick of the palsy,)
2:11 「あなたに命じる、起きよ、床を取りあげて家に帰れ」と言われた。
2:11 I say unto you, Arise, and take up your bed, and go your way into yours house.
2:12 すると彼は起きあがり、すぐ床を取りあげて、みんなの前を出て行ったので、一同は大いに驚き、神をあがめて、「こんな事は、まだ一度も見たことがない」と言った。
2:12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
2:13 イエスはまた海べに出て行かれると、多くの人々がみもとに集まってきたので、彼らを教えられた。
2:13 And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.
2:14 また途中で、アルパヨの子レビが収税所にすわっているのをごらんになって、「わたしに従ってきなさい」と言われた。すると彼は立ち上がって、イエスに従った。
2:14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.
2:15 それから彼の家で、食事の席についておられたときのことである。多くの収税人ゆ罪人たちも、イエスや弟子たちと共にその席に着いていた。こんな人たちが大ぜいいて、イエスに従ってきたのである。
2:15 And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at food in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.
2:16 パリサイ派の律法学者たちは、イエスが罪人や取税人たちと食事を共にしておられるのを見て、弟子たちに言った、「なぜ、彼は取税人や罪人などと食事を共にするのか」。
2:16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eats and drinks with publicans and sinners?
2:17 イエスはこれを聞いて言われた、「丈夫な人には医者はいらない。いるのは病人である。わたしがきたのは、義人を招くためではなく、罪人を招くためである」。
2:17 When Jesus heard it, he says unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
2:18 ヨハネの弟子とパリサイ人とは、断食をしていた。そこで人々がきて、イエスに言った、「ヨハネの弟子たちとパリサイ人の弟子たちとが断食をしているのに、あなたの弟子たちは、なぜ断食をしないのですか」。
2:18 And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples fast not?
2:19 するとイエスは言われた、「婚礼の客は、花婿が一緒にいるのに、断食ができるであろうか。花婿と一緒にいる間は、断食はできない。
2:19 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bride-chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.
2:20 しかし、花婿が奪い去られる日がく来る。その日には断食をするであろう。
2:20 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.
2:21 だれも、真新しい布ぎれを、古い着物に縫いつけはしない。もしそうすれば、新しいづぎは古い着物を引き破り、そして、破れがもっとひどくなる。
2:21 No man also sews a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up takes away from the old, and the rent is made worse.
2:22 まただれも、新しいぶどう酒を古い皮袋に入れはしない。もしそうすればぶどう酒は皮袋をはり裂き、そして、ぶどう酒も皮袋もむだになっていまう。〔だから、新しいぶどう酒は新しい皮袋に入れるべきである〕」。
2:22 And no man puts new wine into old bottles: else the new wine does burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be ruined: but new wine must be put into new bottles.
2:23 ある安息日に、イエスは麦畑の中をとおって行かれた。そのとき弟子たちが歩きながら穂をつみはじめた。
2:23 And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.
2:24 するとパリサイ人たちがイエスに言った、「いったい、彼らはなぜ、安息日にしてはならぬことをするのですか」。
2:24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?
2:25 そこで彼らに言われた、「あなたがたは、ダビデが何をしたか、まだ読んだことがないのか。
2:25 And he said unto them, Have all of you never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungered, he, and they that were with him?
2:26 すなわち、大祭司アビアタルの時、神の家にはいって、祭司たちのほか食べてはならぬ供えのパンを、自分も食べ、また共の者たちにも与えたではないか」。
2:26 How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the showbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?
2:27 また彼らに言われた、「安息日は人のためにあるもので、人が安息日のためにあるのではない。それだから、人の子は、安息日にもまた主なのである」。
2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
2:28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

3:1 イエスがまた会堂にはいられると、そこに片手のなえた人がいた、
3:1 And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand.
3:2 人々はイエスを訴えようと思って、安息日にその人をいやされるかどうかうかがっていた。
3:2 And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him.
3:3 すると、イエスは片手のなえたその人に、「立って、中へ出てきなさい」、と言い、
3:3 And he says unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.
3:4 人々にむかって、「安息日に善を行うのと悪を行うのと、命を救うのと、殺すのと、どちらがいいか」と言われた。彼らは黙っていた。
3:4 And he says unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.
3:5 イエスは怒りを含んで彼らを見まわし、その心のかたくななのを嘆いて、その人に「手を伸ばしなさい」と言われた。そこで手を伸ばすと、その手は元どおりになった。
3:5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he says unto the man, Stretch forth yours hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.
3:6 パリサイ人たちは出ていって、すぐにヘロデ党の者たちと、なんとかしてイエスを殺そうと相談しはじめた。
3:6 And the Pharisees went forth, and immediately took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
3:7 それから、イエスは弟子たちと共に海辺に退かれたが、ガリラヤからきたおびただしい群衆がついて行った。またユダヤから、
3:7 But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea,
3:8 エルサレムから、イドマヤから、さらにヨルダンの向こうから、ツロ、シドンのあたりからも、おびただしい群衆が、そのなさっていることを聞いて、みもとにきた、
3:8 And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.
3:9 And he spoke to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should crowd upon him.
3:10 それは、多くの人をいやされたので、病苦に悩む者はみなイエスにさわろうとして、押し寄せてきたからである。
3:10 For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him in order to touch him, as many as had plagues.
3:11 また、けがれた霊どもはイエスを見るごとに、みまえにひれ伏し、叫んで、「あなたこそ神の子です」と言った。
3:11 And unclean spirits, (o. pneuma) when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, You are the Son of God.
3:12 イエスは御自身のことを人にあらわされないようにと、彼らをきびしく戒めた。
3:12 And he strictly charged them that they should not make him known.
3:13 さてイエスは山に登り、みこころにかなった者たちを呼び寄せられたので、彼らはみもとにきた。
3:13 And he goes up into a mountain, and calls unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.
3:14 そこで十二人をお立てになった。彼らを自分のそばに置くためであり、さらに宣教につかわし、
3:14 And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,
3:15 また悪霊を追い出す権威を持たせるためであった。
3:15 And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:
3:16 こうして、十二人をお立てになった。そしてシモンにペテロという名をつけ、
3:16 And Simon he surnamed Peter;
3:17 またゼベタイの子ヤコブと、ヤコブの兄弟ヨハネ、彼らにはボアネルゲ、すなわち、雷の子という名をつけられた。
3:17 And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:
3:18 アンデレ、ピリポ、バルトロマイ、マタイ、トマス、アルパヨの子ヤコブ、タダイ、熱心党のシモン、
3:18 And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite,
3:19 それからイスカリオテのユダ、このユダがイエスを裏切ったのである。イエスが家にはいられると、
3:19 And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an house.
3:20 群衆がまた集まってきたので、一同は食事をする暇もないほどであった。
3:20 And the multitude comes together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.
3:21 身内の者たちはこの事を聞いて、イエスを取押さえに出てきた。気が狂ったと思ったからである。
3:21 And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.
3:22 また、エルサレムから下ってきた律法学者たちも、「彼はベルゼブルにとりつかれている」と言い、「悪霊どものかしらによって、悪霊どもを追い出しているのだ」とも言った。
3:22 And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He has Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casts he out devils.
3:23 そこでイエスは彼らを呼び寄せ、譬をもって言われた、「どうして、サタンがサタンを追い出すことができようか。
3:23 And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?
3:24 もし国が内部で分かれ争うなら、その国は立ち行かない。
3:24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
3:25 また、家が内わで分かれ争うなら、その家は立ち行かないであろう。
3:25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
3:26 もしサタンが内部で対立し紛争するなら、彼は立ち行けず、滅んでしまう。
3:26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but has an end.
3:27 だれでも、まず強い人を縛りあげなければ、その人の家に押し入って家財を奪いとることはできない。縛ってからはじめて、その家を略奪することができる。
3:27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
3:28 よく言い聞かせておくが、人の子らには、その犯すすべての罪も神をけがす言葉も、ゆるされる。
3:28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith whatsoever they shall blaspheme:
3:29 しかし、聖霊をけがす者は、いつまでもゆるされず、永遠の罪に定められる」。
3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit (o. pneuma) has never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.
3:30 そう言われたのは、彼らが「イエスはけがれた霊につかれている」と言ったからである。
3:30 Because they said, He has an unclean spirit. (o. pneuma)
3:31 さて、イエスの母と兄弟たちとがきて、外に立ち、人をやってイエス呼ばせた。
3:31 There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.
3:32 ときに、群衆はイエスを囲んですわっていたが、「ごらんなさい。あなたの母上と兄弟、姉妹たちが、外であなたを尋ねておられます」と言った。
3:32 And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, your mother and your brethren without seek for you.
3:33 すると、イエスは彼らに答えて言われた、「わたしの母、わたしの兄弟とは、だれのことか」。
3:33 And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?
3:34 そして、自分をとりかこんで、すわっている人々を見まわして、言われた、「ごらんなさい、ここにわたしの母、わたしの兄弟がいる。
3:34 And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
3:35 神のみこころを行う者はだれでも、わたしの兄弟、また姉妹、また母なのである」。
3:35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

4:1 イエスはまたも、海辺で教えはじめられた。おびだだしい群衆がみもとに集まったので、イエスは船に乗ってすわったまま、海上におられ、群衆はみな海に沿って陸地にいた。
4:1 And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.
4:2 イエスは譬で多くのことを教えられたが、その教えの中で彼らにこう言われた、
4:2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,
4:3 「聞きなさい、種まきが種をまきに出て行った。
4:3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:
4:4 まいているうちに、道ばたに落ちた種があった。すると、鳥がきて食べてしまった。
4:4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.
4:5 ほかの種は土の薄い石地に落ちた。そこは土が深くないので、すぐ芽を出したが、
4:5 And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:
4:6 日が上ると焼けて、根がないために枯れてしまった。
4:6 But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.
4:7 ほかの種はいばらの中に落ちた。すると、いばらが伸びて、ふさいでしまったので、実を結ばなかった。
4:7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.
4:8 ほかの種はよい地に落ちた。そしてはえて、育って、ますます実を結び、三十倍、六十倍、百倍にもなった」。
4:8 And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.
4:9 そして言われた、「きく耳のある者は聞くがよい」。
4:9 And he said unto them, He that has ears to hear, let him hear.
4:10 イエスがひとりになられた時、そばにいた者たちが、十二弟子と共に、これらの譬について尋ねた。
4:10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.
4:11 そこでイエスは言われた、「あなたがたには神の国の奥義が授けられているが、ほかの者たちには、すべてが譬で語られる。
4:11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
4:12 それは『彼らには見るには見えるが、認めず、 聞くには聞くが、悟らず、悔い改めてゆるされることがない』ためである」。
4:12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
4:13 また彼らに言われた、゜あなたがたはこの譬がわからないのか。それでは、どうしすべての譬がわかるだろうか。
4:13 And he said unto them, Know all of you not this parable? and how then will all of you know all parables?
4:14 種まきは御言をまくのだある。
4:14 The sower sows the word. (o. logos)
4:15 道ばたに御言がまかれたとは、こういう人たちのことである。すなわち、御言を聞くと、すぐにサタンがきて、彼らの中にまかれた御言を、奪って行くのである。
4:15 And these are they by the way side, where the word (o. logos) is sown; but when they have heard, Satan comes immediately, and takes away the word (o. logos) that was sown in their hearts.
4:16 同じように、石地にまかれたものとはねこういう人たちのことである。御言を聞くと、すくに喜んで受けるが、
4:16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, (o. logos) immediately receive it with gladness;
4:17 自分の中に根がないので、しばらく続けるだけである。そののち、御言のために困難や迫害が起こってくると、すぐつまずいてしまう。
4:17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution arises for the word's sake, (o. logos) immediately they are offended.
4:18 また、いばらの中にまかれたものとは、こういう人たちのことである。御言を聞くが、
4:18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, (o. logos)
4:19 世の心づかいと、富の惑わしと、その他いろいろな欲とが入ってきて、御言をふさぐので、実を結ばなくなる。
4:19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, (o. logos) and it becomes unfruitful.
4:20 また、よい地にまかれたものとは、こういう人たちのことである。御言を聞いて受けいれ、三十倍、六十倍、百倍の実を結ぶのである」。
4:20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, (o. logos) and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
4:21 また彼らに言われた、「ますの下や寝台の下に置くために、あかりを持ってくることがあろうか。燭台の上に置くためではないか。
4:21 And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?
4:22 なんでも、隠されているもので、現れないものはなく、秘密にされているもので、明るみに出ないものはない。
4:22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.
4:23 聞く耳のある者は聞くがよい」。
4:23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
4:24 また彼らに言われた、「聞くことがらに注意しなさい。あなたがたが量るそのはかりで、自分にも量りを与えられ、その上になお増し加えられるであろう。
4:24 And he said unto them, Take heed what all of you hear: with what measure all of you mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
4:25 だれでも、持っている人は更に与えられ、持っていない人は、持っているものまでも取り上げられるであろう」。
4:25 For he that has, to him shall be given: and he that has not, from him shall be taken even that which he has.
4:26 また言われた、「神の国は、ある人が地に種をまくようなものである。
4:26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
4:27 夜昼、寝起きしている間に、種は芽を出して育って行くが、どうしてそうなるのか、その人は知らない。
4:27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knows not how.
4:28 地はおのずから実を結ばせるもので、初めに芽、つぎに穂、つぎに穂の中に豊かな実ができる。
4:28 For the earth brings forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
4:29 実がいると、すぐにかまを入れる。刈入れ時がきたからである」。
4:29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.
4:30 また言われた、「神の国を何に比べようか。また、どんな譬で言いあらわそうか。
4:30 And he said, Unto which shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
4:31 それは一粒のからしだねのようなものである。地にまかれる時には、地上のどんな種よりも小さいが、
4:31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:
4:32 まかれると、成長してどんな野菜よりも大きくなり、大きな枝を張り、その陰に空の鳥が宿るほどになる」。
4:32 But when it is sown, it grows up, and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.
4:33 イエスはこのような多くの譬で、人々の聞く力にしたがって、御言を語られた。
4:33 And with many such parables spoke he the word (o. logos) unto them, as they were able to hear it.
4:34 譬によらないでは語られなかったが、自分の弟子たちには、ひそかにすべてのことを解き明かされた。
4:34 But without a parable spoke he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.
4:35 さてその日、夕方になると、イエスは弟子たちに、「向こう岸へ渡ろう」と言われた。
4:35 And the same day, when the even was come, he says unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
4:36 そこで、彼らは群衆をあとに残し、イエスが船に乗っておられるまま、乗り出した。ほかの船も一緒に行った。
4:36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
4:37 すると、激しい突風が起こり、波が船の中に打ち込んできて、船に満ちそうになった。
4:37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
4:38 ところがイエス自身は、舳の方でまくらをして、眠っておられた。そこで、弟子たちはイエスをおこして、「先生、わたしどもがおぼれ死んでも、おかまいにならないのですか」と言った。
4:38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, care you not that we perish?
4:39 イエスは起きあがって風をしかり、海にむかって、「静まれ、黙れ」と言われると、風はやんで、大なぎになった。
4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
4:40 イエスは彼らに言われた、「なぜ、そんなにこわがるのか。どうして信仰がないのか」。
4:40 And he said unto them, Why are all of you so fearful? how is it that all of you have no faith?
4:41 彼らは恐れおののいて、互に言った、「いったい、この方はだれだろう。風も海も従わせるとは」。
4:41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

5:1 こうして彼らは海の向こう岸、ゲラサ人の地に着いた。
5:1 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.
5:2 それから、イエスが船からあがられるとすぐに、けがれた霊につかれた人が墓場から出てきて、イエスに出会った。
5:2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, (o. pneuma)
5:3 この人は墓場をすみかとしており、もはやだれも、鎖でさえも彼をつなぎとめて置けなかった。
5:3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
5:4 彼はたびたび足かせや鎖でつながれたが、鎖を引きちぎり、足かせを砕くので、だれも彼を押さえつけることができなかった。
5:4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
5:5 そして、夜昼たえまなく墓場や山で叫びつづけて、石で自分のからだを傷つけていた。
5:5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
5:6 ところが、この人がイエスを遠くから見て、走り寄って拝し、
5:6 But when he saw Jesus far off, he ran and worshipped him,
5:7 大声で叫んで言った、「いと高き神の子イエスよ、あなたはわたしとなんのかかわりがあるのですか。神に誓ってお願いします。ぞうぞ、わたしを苦しめないでください」。
5:7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the most high God? I adjure you by God, that you torment me not.
5:8 それは、イエスが、「けがれた霊よ、この人から出て行け」と言われたからである。
5:8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, you unclean spirit. (o. pneuma)
5:9 また彼に、「なんという名前か」と尋ねられると、「レギオンと言います。大ぜいなのですから」と答えた。
5:9 And he asked him, What is your name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
5:10 そして、自分たちをこの土地から追い出さないようにと、しきりに願いつづけた。
5:10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
5:11 さて、そこの山の中腹に、豚の大群が飼ってあった。
5:11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
5:12 霊はイエスに願って言った、「わたしどもを、豚にはいらせてください。その中へ送ってください」。
5:12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
5:13 イエスがお許しになったので、けがれた霊どもは出て行って、豚の中へはいり込んだ。すると、その群れは二千匹ばかりであったが、がけから海へなだれを打って駆け下り、海の中でおぼれ死んでしまった。
5:13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits (o. pneuma) went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
5:14 豚を飼う者たちが逃げ出して、町や村にふれまわったので、人々は何事が起こったのかと見にきた。
5:14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
5:15 そして、イエスのところにきて、悪霊につかれた人が着物を着て、正気になってすわっており、それがレギオンを宿していた者であるのを見て、恐れた。
5:15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
5:16 また、それを見た人たちは、悪霊につかれた人の身に起こった事と豚のこととを、彼らに話して聞かせた。
5:16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
5:17 そこで、人々はイエスに、この地方から出て行っていただきたいと、頼みはじめた。
5:17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
5:18 イエスが船に乗ろうとされると、悪霊につかれていた人がお供をしたいと願い出た。
5:18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
5:19 しかし、イエスはお許しにならないで、彼に言われた、「あなたの家族のもとに帰って、主がどんな大きなことをしてくださったか、またどんなにあわれんでくださったか、それを知らせなさい」。
5:19 Nevertheless Jesus suffered him not, but says unto him, Go home to your friends, and tell them how great things the Lord has done for you, and has had compassion on you.
5:20 そこで、彼は立ち去り、そして自分にイエスがしてくださったことを、ことごとくデカポリスの地方に言いひろめ出したので、人々はみな驚き怪しんだ。
5:20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
5:21 イエスがまた船で向こう岸へ渡られると、大勢の群衆がみもとに集まってきた。イエスは海べにおられた。
5:21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.
5:22 そこへ、会堂司のひとりであるヤイロという者がきて、イエスを見かけるとその足もとにひれ伏し、
5:22 And, behold, there comes one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
5:23 しきりに願って言った、「わたしの幼い娘が死にかかっています。どうぞ、その子がなおって助かりますように、おいでになって、手をおいてやってください」。
5:23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lies at the point of death: I pray you, come and lay your hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
5:24 そこで、イエスは彼と一緒に出かけられた。大勢の群衆もイエスに押し迫りながら、ついて行った。
5:24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
5:25 さてここに、十二年間も長血をわずらっている女がいた。
5:25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
5:26 多くの医者にかかって、さんざん苦しめられ、その持ち物をみな費やしてしまったが、なんのかいもないばかりか、すえってますます悪くなる一方であった。
5:26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing improved, but rather grew worse,
5:27 この女がイエスのことを聞いて、群衆の中にまぎれ込み、うしろから、み衣にさわった。
5:27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
5:28 それは、せめて、み衣にでもさわれば、なおしていただけるだろうと、思っていたからである。
5:28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
5:29 すると、血の元がすぐにかわき、女は病気がなおったことを、その身に感じた。
5:29 And immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
5:30 イエスはすぐ、自分の内から力が出て行ったことに気ずかれて、群衆の中で振り向き、「わたしの着物にさわったのはだれか」と言われた。
5:30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
5:31 そこで弟子たちが言った、「ごらんのとおり、群衆があなたに押し迫っていますのに、だれがさわったかと、おっしゃるのですか」。
5:31 And his disciples said unto him, You see the multitude thronging you, and says you, Who touched me?
5:32 しかし、イエスはさわったものを見つけようとして、見まわしておられた。
5:32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
5:33 その女は自分の身に起こったことを知って、恐れおののきながら進み出て、みまえにひれ伏して、すべてありのままを申し上げた。
5:33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
5:34 イエスはその女に言われた、「娘よ、あなたの信仰があなたを救ったのです。安心して行きなさい。すっかりなおって、達者でいなさい」。
5:34 And he said unto her, Daughter, your faith has made you whole; go in peace, and be whole of your plague.
5:35 イエスが、まだ話しておられるうちに、会堂司の家から人々がきて言った、「あなたの娘はなくなりました。このうえ、先生を煩わすには及びますまい」。
5:35 While he yet spoke, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Your daughter is dead: why trouble you the Master any further?
5:36 イエスはその話している言葉を聞き流して、会堂司に言われた、「恐れることはない、ただ信じなさい」。
5:36 As soon as Jesus heard the word (o. logos) that was spoken, he says unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
5:37 そしてペテロ、ヤコブ、ヤコブの兄弟ヨハネのほかは、ついて来ることを、だれもお許しにならなかった。
5:37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
5:38 彼らが会堂司の家に着くと、イエスは人々が大声で泣いたり、叫んだりして、騒いでいるのをごらんになり、
5:38 And he comes to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and sees the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
5:39 内にはいって、彼らに言われた、「なぜ泣き騒いでいるのか。子供は死んだのではない。眠っているだけである」。
5:39 And when he was come in, he says unto them, Why make all of you this disturbance, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleeps.
5:40 人々はイエスをあざ笑った。しかし、イエスはみんなの者を外に出し、子供の父母と共の者たちだけを連れて、子供のいるところにはいって行かれた。
5:40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he takes the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and enters in where the damsel was lying.
5:41 そして子供の手を取って、「タリタ、クミ」と言われた。それは、「少女よ、さあ、起きなさい」という意味である。
5:41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto you, arise.
5:42 すると、少女はすぐに起き上がって、歩きだした。十二歳にもなっていたからである。彼らはたちまち非常な驚きに打たれた。
5:42 And immediately the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
5:43 イエスは、だれにもこの事を知らすな、きびしく彼らに命じ、また、少女に食物を与えるようにと言われた。
5:43 And he charged them strictly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

6:1 イエスはそこを去って、郷里に行かれたが、弟子たちも従って行った。
6:1 And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.
6:2 そして、安息日になったので、会堂で教えはじめられた。それを聞いた多くの人々は、驚いて言った、「この人は、これらのことをどこで習ってきたのか。また、この人の授かった知恵はどうだろう。このような力あるわざをその手で行われているのは、どうしてか。
6:2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence has this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
6:3 この人は大工ではないか。マリヤのむすこで、ヤコブ、ヨセ、ユダ、シモンの兄弟ではないか。またその姉妹たちも、ここにわたしたちと一緒にいるではないか」。こうして彼らはイエスにつまずいた。
6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
6:4 イエスは言われた、「預言者は、自分の郷里、親族、家以外では、どこででも敬われないことはない」。
6:4 But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
6:5 そして、そこでは力あるわざを一つもすることができず、ただ小数の病人に手をおいていゆされただけであった。
6:5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6:6 そして、彼らの不信仰を驚き怪しまれた。それからイエスは、付近の村々を巡りあるいて教えられた。
6:6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
6:7 また、十二弟子を呼び寄せ、ふたりずつつかわすことにして、彼らにけがれた霊を制する権威を与え、
6:7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits; (o. pneuma)
6:8 また旅のために、つえ一本のほかには何も持たないように、パンも、袋も、帯の中の銭も持たず、
6:8 And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no pouch, no bread, no money in their purse:
6:9 ただわらじをはくだけで、下着も二枚は着ないように命じられた。
6:9 But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
6:10 そして彼らに言われた、「どこへ行っても、家にはいったなら、その土地を去るまでは、そこにとどまっていなさい。
6:10 And he said unto them, In what place whatsoever all of you enter into an house, there abide till all of you depart from that place.
6:11 また、あなたがたを迎えず、あなたがたの話しを聞きもしない所があったなら、そこから出て行くとき、彼らに対する抗議のしるしに、足の裏のちりを払い落としなさい」。
6:11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when all of you depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
6:12 そこで、彼らは出て行って、悔改めを宣べ伝え、
6:12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
6:13 多くの悪霊を追い出し、大ぜいの病人に油をぬっていやした。
6:13 And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
6:14 さて、イエスの名が知れわたって、ヘロデ王の耳にはいった、ある人々は「バプテスマのヨハネが、死人の中からよみがえったのだ。それで、あのような力が彼のうちに働いているのだ」と言い、
6:14 And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do show forth themselves in him.
6:15 他の人々は「彼はエリヤだ」と言い、また他の人々は「昔の預言者のような預言者だ」と言った。
6:15 Others said, That it is Elijah. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.
6:16 ところが、ヘロデはこれを聞いて、「わたしが首を切ったあのヨハネがよみがえったのだ」と言った。
6:16 But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he has risen from the dead.
6:17 このヘロデは、自分の兄弟ピリポの妻ヘロデヤをめとったが、そのことで、人をつかわし、ヨハネを捕らえて獄につないだ。
6:17 For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her.
6:18 それは、ヨハネがヘロデに、「兄弟の妻をめとるのは、よろしくない」と言ったからである。
6:18 For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife.
6:19 そこで、ヘロデヤはヨハネを恨み、彼を殺そうと思っていたが、できないでいた。
6:19 Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:
6:20 それはヘロデが、ヨハネは正しくて聖なる人であることを知って、彼を恐れ、彼に保護を加え、またその教えを聞いて非常に悩みながらも、なお喜んで聞いていたからである。
6:20 For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
6:21 ところが、よい機会がきた。ヘロデは自分の誕生日の祝いに、高官や将校やガリラヤの重立った人たちを招いて宴会を催したが、
6:21 And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;
6:22 そこへ、このヘロデヤの娘がはいってきて舞をまい、ヘロデをはじめ列座の人たちを喜ばせた。そこで王はこの少女に「ほしいものはなんでも言いなさい。あなたにあげるから」と言い、
6:22 And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever you will, and I will give it you.
6:23 さらに「ほしければ、この国の半分でもあげよう」と誓って言った。
6:23 And he swore unto her, Whatsoever you shall ask of me, I will give it you, unto the half of my kingdom.
6:24 そこで少女は座をはずして、母に「何をお願いしましょうか」と尋ねると、母は「バプテスマのヨハネの首を」と答えた。
6:24 And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
6:25 するとすぐ、少女は急いで王のところに行って願った、「今すぐに、バプテスマのヨハネの首を盆にのせて、それをいただきとうございます」。
6:25 And she came in immediately with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that you give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.
6:26 王は非常に困ったが、いったん誓ったのと、また列座の人たちの手前、少女の願いを退けることを好まなかった。
6:26 And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.
6:27 そこで、王はすぐに衛兵をつかわし、ヨハネの首を持って来るように命じた。衛兵は出て行き、獄中でヨハネの首を切り、
6:27 And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,
6:28 盆にのせて持ってきて少女に与え、少女はそれを母にわたした。
6:28 And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother.
6:29 ヨハネの弟子たちはこのことを聞き、その死体を引き取りにきて、墓に納めた。
6:29 And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.
6:30 さて、使徒たちはイエスのもとに集まってきて、自分たちがしたことや教えたことを、みな報告した。
6:30 And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
6:31 するとイエスは彼らに言われた、「さあ、あなたがたは、人を避けて寂しい所へ行って、しばらく休むがよい」。それは、出入りする人が多くて、食事をする暇もなかったからである。
6:31 And he said unto them, Come all of you yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
6:32 そこで彼らは人を避け、船に乗って寂しい所へ行った。
6:32 And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.
6:33 ところが、多くの人々は彼らが出かけて行くのを見、それと気づいて、方々の町々からそこへ、一せいに駆けつけ、彼らより先に着いた。
6:33 And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran on foot thither out of all cities, and advanced before them, and came together unto him.
6:34 イエスは船から上がって大ぜいの群衆をごらんになり、飼う者のない羊のようなその有様を深くあわれんで、いろいろと教えはじめられた。
6:34 And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
6:35 ところが、はや時もおそくなったので、弟子たちはイエスのもとにきて言った、「ここは寂しい所でもあり、もう時もおそくなりました。
6:35 And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:
6:36 みんなを解散させ、めいめいで何か食べる物を買いに、まわりの部落や村々へ行かせてください」。
6:36 Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.
6:37 イエスは答えて言われた、「あなたがたのてで食物をやりなさい」。弟子たちは言った、「わたしたちが二百デナリものパンを買ってきて、みんなに食べさせるのですか」。
6:37 He answered and said unto them, Give all of you them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?
6:38 するとイエスは言われた、「パンは幾つあるか。見てきなさい」。彼らは確かめてきて、「五つあります。それに魚が二ひき」と言った。
6:38 He says unto them, How many loaves have all of you? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.
6:39 そこでイエスは、みんなを組々に分けて、青草の上にすわらせるように命じられた。
6:39 And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass.
6:40 人々は、あるいわ百人ずつ、あるいわ五十人ずつ、列をつくってすわった。
6:40 And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.
6:41 それから、イエスは五つのパンと二ひきの魚とを手に取り、天を仰いでそれを祝福し、パンをさき、弟子たちにわたして配らせ、また、二ひきの魚もみんなにお分けになった。
6:41 And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.
6:42 みんなの者は食べて満腹した。
6:42 And they did all eat, and were filled.
6:43 そこで、パンくずや魚の残りを集めると、十二のかごいっぱいになった。
6:43 And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
6:44 パンを食べた者は男五千人であった。
6:44 And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men.
6:45 それからすぐ、イエスは自分で群衆を解散させておられる間に、しいて弟子たちを船に乗り込ませ、向こう岸のベツサイダへ先におやりになった。
6:45 And immediately he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.
6:46 そして群衆に別れてから、祈るために山へ退かれた。
6:46 And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.
7:47 夕方になったとき、船は海のまん中に出ており、イエスだけが陸地におられた。
6:47 And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.
6:48 ところが逆風が吹いていたために、弟子たちがこぎ悩んでいるのをごらんになｚて、夜明けの四時ごろ、海の上を歩いて彼らに近づき、そのそばを通り過ぎようとされた。
6:48 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he comes unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.
6:49 彼らはイエスが海の上を歩いておられるのを見て、幽霊だと思い、大声で叫んだ。
6:49 But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:
6:50 みんなの者がそれを見て、おじ恐れたからである。しかし、イエスはすぐ彼らに声をかけ、「しっかりするのだ。わたしである。恐れることはない」と言われた。
6:50 For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and says unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.
6:51 そして、彼らの船に乗り込まれると、風はやんだ。彼らは心の中で、非常に驚いた。
6:51 And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.
6:52 先のパンのことを悟らず、その心が鈍くなっていたからである。
6:52 For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.
6:53 彼らは海を渡り、ゲネサレの地に着いて船をつないだ。
6:53 And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.
6:54 そして船からあがると、人々はすぐイエスと知って、
6:54 And when they were come out of the ship, immediately they knew him,
6:55 その地方をあまねく駆けめぐり、イエスがおられると聞けば、どこへでも病人を床にのせて運びはじめた。
6:55 And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.
6:56 そして、村でも町でも部落でも、イエスがはいって行かれる所では、病人たちをその広場におき、せめてその上着のふさにでも、さわらせてやってたいただきたいと、お願いした。そしてさわった者は皆いやされた。
6:56 And anywhere he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.

7:1 さて、パリサイ人と、ある律法学者たちとが、エルサレムからきて、イエスのもとに集まった。
7:1 Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem.
7:2 そして弟子たちのうちに、不浄な手、すなわち洗わない手で、パンを食べている者があるのを見た。
7:2 And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashed, hands, they found fault.
7:3 もともと、パリサイ人をはじめユダヤ人はみな、昔の人の言い伝えをかたく守って、念入りに手を洗ってからでないと、食事をしない。
7:3 For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands often, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.
7:4 また市場から帰ったときには、身を清めてからでないと、食事をせず、なをそのほかにも、杯、鉢、銅器を洗うことなど、昔から受けついでかたく守っている事が、たくさんあった。
7:4 And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brazen vessels, and of tables.
7:5 そこで、パリサイ人と律法学者たちとは、イエスに尋ねた、「なぜ、あなたの弟子たちは、昔の人の言伝えに従って歩まないで、不浄な手でパンを食べるのですか」。
7:5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not your disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?
7:6 イエスは言われた、「イザヤは、あなたがた偽善者について、こう書いているが、それは適切な預言である、『この民は、口さきではわたしを敬うが、その心はわたしから遠く離れている。
7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well has Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
7:7 人間のいましめを教えとして教え、無意味にわたしを拝んでいる』。
7:7 Nevertheless in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
7:8 あなたがたは、神のいましめをさしおいて、人間の言伝えを固執している」。
7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, all of you hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things all of you do.
7:9 また、言われた、「あなたがたは、自分たちの言伝えを守るために、よくも神のいましめを捨てたものだ。
7:9 And he said unto them, Full well all of you reject the commandment of God, that all of you may keep your own tradition.
7:10 モーセは言ったではないか、『父と母とを敬え』、また『父または母をののしる者は、必ず死に定められる』と。
7:10 For Moses said, Honour your father and your mother; and, Whoso curses father or mother, let him die the death:
7:11 それだのに、あなたがたは、もし人が父または母にむかって、あなたに差上げるはずのこのものはコルバン、すなわち、供え物ですと言えば、それでよいとして、
7:11 But all of you say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever you might be profited by me; he shall be free.
7:12 その人は父母に対して、もう何もしないで済むのだと言っている。
7:12 And all of you suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;
7:13 こうしてあなたがたは、自分たちが受けついだ言伝えによって、神の言を無にしている。また、このような事をしばしばおこなっている」。
7:13 Making the word (o. logos) of God of no effect through your tradition, which all of you have delivered: and many such like things do all of you.
7:14 それから、イエスは再び群衆を呼び寄せて言われた、「あなたがたはみんな、わたしの言うことを聞いて悟がよい。
7:14 And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:
7:15 すべて外から人の中にはいって、人をけがしうるものはない。かえって、人の中から出てくるものが、人をけがすのである。
7:15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
7:16 〔聞く耳のある者は聞くがよい〕」。
7:16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
7:17 イエスは群衆を離れて家にはいられると、弟子たちはこの譬について尋ねた。
7:17 And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
7:18 すると、言われた、「あなたがたも、そんなに鈍いのか、すべて、外から人の中にはって来るものは、人を汚し得ないことが、わからないのか。
7:18 And he says unto them, Are all of you so without understanding also? Do all of you not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without enters into the man, it cannot defile him;
7:19 それは人の心の中にはいるのではなく、腹の中にはいり、そして、外に出て行くだけである」。イエスはこのように、どんな食物でもきよいものとされた。
7:19 Because it enters not into his heart, but into the belly, and goes out into the draught, purging all meats?
7:20 さらに言われた、「人から出て来るもの、それが人をけがすのである。
7:20 And he said, That which comes out of the man, that defiles the man.
7:21 すなわち内部から、人の心の中から、悪い思いが出て来る。不品行、盗み、殺人、
7:21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
7:22 姦淫、貪欲、邪悪、欺き、好色、妬み、誂り、高慢、愚痴。
7:22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
7:23 これらの悪はすべて内部から出てきて、人をけがすのである」。
7:23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
7:24 さて、イエスは、そこを立ち去って、ツロの地方に行かれた。
7:24 And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.
7:25 そして、だれにも知られないように、家の中にはいられたが、隠れていることができなかった。そして、けがれた霊につかれた幼い娘をもつ女が、イエスのことをすぐ聞きつけてきて、その足もとにひれ伏した。
7:25 For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, (o. pneuma) heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:
7:26 この女はギリシャ人で、スロ・フェニキヤの生まれであった。そして、娘から悪霊を追い出してくださいとお願いした。
7:26 The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.
7:27 イエスは女に言われた、「まず子供たちに十分食べさすべきである。子供たちのパンを取って小犬に投げてやるのは、よろしくない」。
7:27 But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.
7:28 すると、女は答えて言った、「主よ、お言葉どおりです。でも、食卓の下にいる小犬も、子供たちのパンくずは、いただきます」。
7:28 And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.
7:29 そこでイエスは言われた、「その言葉で、じゅうぶんである。お帰りなさい。悪霊は娘から出てしまった」。
7:29 And he said unto her, For this saying (o. logos) go your way; the devil is gone out of your daughter.
7:30 そこで、女が家に帰ってみると、その子は床の上に寝ており、悪霊は出てしまっていた。
7:30 And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.
7:31 それから、イエスはまたツロの地方を去り、シドンを経てデカポリス地方を通りぬけ、ガリラヤの海べにこられた。
7:31 And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.
7:32 すると人々は、耳が聞こえず口のきけない人を、みもとに連れてきて、手を置いてやっていただきたいとお願いした。
7:32 And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an barrier in his speech; and they plead to him to put his hand upon him.
7:33 そこで、イエスは彼ひとりを群衆の中から連れ出し、その両耳に指をさし入れ、それから、つばきでその舌を潤し、
7:33 And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue;
7:34 天を仰いでため息をつき、その人に「エバタ」と言われた。これは「開けよ」という意味である。
7:34 And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and says unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.
7:35 すると彼の耳は開け、その舌のもつれもすぐ解けて、はっきりと話すようになった。
7:35 And immediately his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plain.
7:36 イエスは、この事をだれにも言ってはならぬと、人々に口止めをされたが、口止めをすればするほど、かえって、ますます言いひろめた。
7:36 And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;
7:37 彼らは、ひとかたならず驚いて言った、「このかたのなさった事は、何もかも、すばらしい。耳の聞こえない者を聞こえるようにしてやり、口のきけない者をきけるようにしておやりになった」。
7:37 And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He has done all things well: he makes both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

8:1 そのころ、また大勢の群衆が集まっていたが、何も食べるものがなかったので、イエスは弟子たちを呼び寄せて言われた、
8:1 In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and says unto them,
8:2 「この群衆がかわいそうである。もう三日間もわたしと一緒にいるりに、何も食べるものがない。
8:2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:
8:3 もし、彼らを空腹のまま家に帰らせるなら、途中で弱り切ってしまうであろう。それに、なかには遠くからきている者もある」。
8:3 And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
8:4 弟子たちは答えた、「こんな荒野で、どこからパンを手に入れて、これらの人々にじゅうぶんに食べさせることができましょうか」。
8:4 And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
8:5 イエスは弟子たちに、「パンはいくつあるか」と尋ねると、「七つあります」と答えた。
8:5 And he asked them, How many loaves have all of you? And they said, Seven.
8:6 そこでイエスは群衆に地にすわるように命じられた。そして七つのパンを取り、感謝してこれをさき、人々に配るように弟子たちに渡されると、弟子たちはそれを群衆に配った。
8:6 And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.
8:7 また小さい魚が少しばかりあったので、祝福して、それをも人々に配るように言われた。
8:7 And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.
8:8 彼らは食べて満腹した。そして残ったパンくずを集めると、七かごになった。
8:8 So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken food that was left seven baskets.
8:9 人々の数はおよそ四千人であった。それからイエスは彼らを解散させ、
8:9 And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.
8:10 すぐ弟子たちと共に船に乗って、ダルマヌタの地方へ行かれた。
8:10 And immediately he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.
8:11 パリサイ人たちが出てきて、イエスを試みようとして議論をしかけ、天からのしるしを求めた。
8:11 And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.
8:12 イエスは、心の中で深く嘆息して言われた、「なぜ、今の時代はしるしを求めるのだろう。よく言い聞かせておくが、しるしは今の時代には決して与えられない」。
8:12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, (o. pneuma) and says, Why does this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.
8:13 そして、イエスは彼らをあとに残し、また船に乗って向こう岸へ行かれた。
8:13 And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.
8:14 弟子たちはパンを持ってくるのを忘れていたので、船の中にはパン一つしか持ち合わせがなかった。
8:14 Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.
8:15 そのとき、イエスは彼らを戒めて、「パリサイ人のパン種とヘロデのパン種とを、よくよく警戒せよ」と言われた。
8:15 And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.
8:16 弟子たちは、これは自分たちがパンを持っていないためであろうと、互いに論じ合った。
8:16 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.
8:17 イエスはそれと知って、彼らに言われた、「なぜ、パンがないからだと論じ合っているのか。まだわからないのか。悟らないのか。あなたがたの心は鈍くなっているのか。
8:17 And when Jesus knew it, he says unto them, Why reason all of you, because all of you have no bread? perceive all of you not yet, neither understand? have all of you your heart yet hardened?
8:18 目があっても見えないのか。耳があっても聞こえないのか。また思い出さないのか。
8:18 Having eyes, see all of you not? and having ears, hear all of you not? and do all of you not remember?
8:19 五つのパンをさいて五千人に分けたとき、拾い集めたパンくずは、幾つのかごになったか」。弟子たちは答えた、「十二のかごです」。
8:19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took all of you up? They say unto him, Twelve.
8:20 「七つのパンを四千人に分けたときには、パンくずを幾かごに拾い集めたか」。「七かごです」と答えた。
8:20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took all of you up? And they said, Seven.
8:21 そこでイエスは彼らに言われた、「まだ悟らないのか」。
8:21 And he said unto them, How is it that all of you do not understand?
8:22 そのうちに、彼らはベツサイダに着いた。すると人々が、ひとりの盲人を連れてきて、さわってやっていただきたいとお願いした。
8:22 And he comes to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.
8:23 イエスはこの盲人の手をとって、村の外に連れ出し、その両方の目につばきをつけ、両手を彼に当てて、「何か見えるか」と尋ねられた。
8:23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
8:24 すると彼は顔を上げて言った、「人が見えます。木のように見えます。歩いているようです」。
8:24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
8:25 それから、イエスが再び目の上に両手を当てられると、盲人は見つめているうちに、なおってきて、すべてのものがはっきりと見えだした。
8:25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
8:26 そこでイエスは、「村にはいってはいけない」と言って、彼を家に帰された。
8:26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.
8:27 さて、イエスは弟子たちとピリポ・カイザリヤの村村へ出かけられたが、その途中で、弟子たちに尋ねて言われた、「人々は、わたしをだれと言っているか」。
8:27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?
8:28 彼らは答えて言った、「バプテスマのヨハネだと、言っています。また、エリヤだと言い、また、預言者のひとりだと言っている者もあります」。
8:28 And they answered, John the Baptist; but some say, Elijah; and others, One of the prophets.
8:29 そこでイエスは彼らに尋ねられた、「それでは、あなたがたはわたしをだれと言うか」。ペテロが答えて言った、「あなたこそキリストです」。
8:29 And he says unto them, But whom say all of you that I am? And Peter answers and says unto him, You are the Christ.
8:30 するとイエスは、自分のことをだれにも言ってはいけないと、彼らに戒められた。
8:30 And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.
8:31 それから、人の子は必ず多くの苦しみ受け、長老、祭司長、律法学者たちに捨てられ、また殺され、そして三日の後によみがえるべきことを、彼らに教えはじめ、
8:31 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
8:32 しかもあからさまに、この事を話された。すると、ペテロはイエスをわきへ引き寄せて、いさめはじめたので、
8:32 And he spoke that saying (o. logos) openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.
8:33 イエスは振り返って、弟子たちを見ながら、ペテロをしかって言われた、「サタンよ、引きさがれ。あなたは神のことを思わないで、人のことを思っている」。
8:33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get you behind me, Satan: for you savour not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.

8:34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
8:35 自分を捨て、自分の十字架を負うて、わたしに従ってきなさい。自分の命を救おうと思う者はそれを失い、わたしのため、また福音のために、自分の命を失う者は、それを救うであろう。
8:35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
8:36 人が全世界をもうけても、自分の命を損したら、なんの得になろうか。
8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
8:37 また、人はどんな代価を払っても、その命を買いもどすことができようか。
8:37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
8:38 邪悪で罪深いこの時代にあって、わたしとわたしの言葉とを恥じる者に対しては、人の子もまた、父の栄光のうちに聖なる御使たちと共に来るときに、その者を恥じるであろう」。
8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words (o. logos) in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
