1:1 Palavra do Senhor, que foi dirigida a Joel, filho de Petuel.

1:1 The word of the LORD that came to Joel the son of Pethuel.

1:2 Ouvi isto, vós anciãos, e escutai, todos os moradores da terra: Aconteceu isto em vossos dias, ou nos dias de vossos pais?

1:2 Hear this, all of you old men, and give ear, all you inhabitants of the land. Has this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?

1:3 Fazei sobre isto uma narração a vossos filhos, e vossos filhos a transmitam a seus filhos, e os filhos destes r geração seguinte.

1:3 Tell all of you your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.

1:4 O que a locusta cortadora deixou, a voadora o comeu; e o que a voadora deixou, a devoradora o comeu; e o que a devoradora deixou, a destruidora o comeu.

1:4 That which the palmerworm has left has the locust eaten; and that which the locust has left has the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm has left has the caterpillar eaten.

1:5 Despertai, bêbedos, e chorai; gemei, todos os que bebeis vinho, por causa do mosto; porque tirado é da vossa boca.

1:5 Awake, all of you drunkards, and weep; and wail, all you drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.

1:6 Porque sobre a minha terra é vinda uma nação poderosa e inumerável. os seus dentes são dentes de leão, e têm queixadas de uma leoa.

1:6 For a nation has come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he has the cheek teeth of a great lion.

1:7 Fez da minha vide uma assolação, e tirou a casca r minha figueira; despiu-a toda, e a lançou por terra; os seus sarmentos se embranqueceram.

1:7 He has laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he has made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.

1:8 Lamenta como a virgem que está cingida de saco, pelo marido da sua mocidade.

1:8 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

1:9 Está cortada da casa do Senhor a oferta de cereais e a libação; os sacerdotes, ministros do Senhor, estão entristecidos.

1:9 The food offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests, the LORD's ministers, mourn.

1:10 O campo está assolado, e a terra chora; porque o trigo está destruído, o mosto se secou, o azeite falta.

1:10 The field is wasted, the land mourns; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languishes.

1:11 Envergonhai-vos, lavradores, uivai, vinhateiros, sobre o trigo e a cevada; porque a colheita do campo pereceu.

1:11 Be all of you ashamed, O all of you husbandmen; wail, O all of you vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.

1:12 A vide se secou, a figueira se murchou; a romeira também, e a palmeira e a macieira, sim, todas as árvores do campo se secaram; e a alegria esmoreceu entre os filhos dos homens.

1:12 The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languishes; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

1:13 Cingi-vos de saco e lamentai-vos, sacerdotes; uivai, ministros do altar; entrai e passai a noite vestidos de saco, ministros do meu Deus; porque foi cortada da casa do vosso Deus a oferta de cereais e a libação.

1:13 Gird yourselves, and lament, all of you priests: wail, all of you ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, all of you ministers of my God: for the food offering and the drink offering is withheld from the house of your God.

1:14 Santificai um jejum, convocai uma assembléia solene, congregai os anciãos, e todos os moradores da terra, na casa do Senhor vosso Deus, e clamai ao Senhor.

1:14 Sanctify all of you a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD,

1:15 Ai do dia! pois o dia do senhor está perto, e vem como assolação da parte do Todo-Poderoso.

1:15 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.

1:16 Porventura não está cortado o mantimento de diante de nossos olhos? a alegria e o regozijo da casa do nosso Deus?

1:16 Is not the food cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?

1:17 A semente mirrou debaixo dos seus torrões; os celeiros estão desolados, os armazéns arruinados; porque falharam os cereais.

1:17 The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.

1:18 Como geme o gado! As manadas de vacas estão confusas, porque não têm pasto; também os rebanhos de ovelhas estão desolados.

1:18 How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.

1:19 A ti clamo, ó Senhor; porque o fogo consumiu os pastos do deserto, e a chama abrasou todas as árvores do campo.

1:19 O LORD, to you will I cry: for the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame has burned all the trees of the field.

1:20 Até os animais do campo suspiram por ti; porque as correntes d'água se secaram, e o fogo consumiu os pastos do deserto.

1:20 The beasts of the field cry also unto you: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.

2:1 Tocai a trombeta em Sião, e dai o alarma no meu santo monte. Tremam todos os moradores da terra, porque vem vindo o dia do Senhor; já está perto;

2:1 Blow all of you the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD comes, for it is nigh at hand;

2:2 dia de trevas e de escuridão, dia de nuvens e de negrume! Como a alva, está espalhado sobre os montes um povo grande e poderoso, qual nunca houve, nem depois dele haverá pelos anos adiante, de geração em geração:

2:2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there has not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.

2:3 Diante dele um fogo consome, e atrás dele uma chama abrasa; a terra diante dele é como o jardim do Édem mas atrás dele um desolado deserto; sim, nada lhe escapa.

2:3 A fire devours before them; and behind them a flame burns: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.

2:4 A sua aparência é como a de cavalos; e como cavaleiros, assim correm.

2:4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.

2:5 Como o estrondo de carros sobre os cumes dos montes vão eles saltando, como o ruído da chama de fogo que consome o restelho, como um povo poderoso, posto em ordem de batalha.

2:5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devours the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

2:6 Diante dele estão angustiados os povos; todos os semblantes empalidecem.

2:6 Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.

2:7 Correm como valentes, como homens de guerra sobem os muros; e marcham cada um nos seus caminhos e não se desviam da sua fileira.

2:7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:

2:8 Não empurram uns aos outros; marcham cada um pelo seu carreiro; abrem caminho por entre as armas, e não se detêm.

2:8 Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.

2:9 Pulam sobre a cidade, correm pelos muros; sobem nas casas; entram pelas janelas como o ladrão.

2:9 They shall run back and forth in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.

2:10 Diante deles a terra se abala; tremem os céus; o sol e a lua escurecem, e as estrelas retiram o seu resplendor.

2:10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:

2:11 E o Senhor levanta a sua voz diante do seu exército, porque muito grande é o seu arraial; e poderoso é quem executa a sua ordem; pois o dia do Senhor é grande e muito terrível, e quem o poderá suportar?

2:11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executes his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

2:12 Todavia ainda agora diz o Senhor: Convertei-vos a mim de todo o vosso coração; e isso com jejuns, e com choro, e com pranto.

2:12 Therefore also now, says the LORD, turn all of you even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

2:13 E rasgai o vosso coração, e não as vossas vestes; e convertei-vos ao Senhor vosso Deus; porque ele é misericordioso e compassivo, tardio em irar-se e grande em benignidade, e se arrepende do mal.

2:13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repents him of the evil.

2:14 Quem sabe se não se voltará e se arrependerá, e deixará após si uma bênção, em oferta de cereais e libação para o Senhor vosso Deus?

2:14 Who knows if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a food offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?

2:15 Tocai a trombeta em Sião, santificai um jejum, convocai uma assembléia solene;

2:15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:

2:16 congregai o povo, santificai a congregação, ajuntai os anciãos, congregai os meninos, e as crianças de peito; saia o noivo da sua recâmara, e a noiva do seu tálamo.

2:16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go out of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.

2:17 Chorem os sacerdotes, ministros do Senhor, entre o alpendre e o altar, e digam: Poupa a teu povo, ó Senhor, e não entregues a tua herança ao opróbrio, para que as nações façam escárnio dele. Por que diriam entre os povos: Onde está o seu Deus?

2:17 Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare your people, O LORD, and give not yours heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?

2:18 Então o Senhor teve zelo da sua terra, e se compadeceu do seu povo.

2:18 Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people.

2:19 E o Senhor, respondende, disse ao seu povo: Eis que vos envio o trigo, o vinho e o azeite, e deles sereis fartos; e vos não entregarei mais ao opróbrio entre as nações;

2:19 Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and all of you shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen:

2:20 e removerei para longe de vós o exército do Norte, e o lançarei para uma terra seca e deserta, a sua frente para o mar oriental, e a sua retaguarda para o mar ocidental; subirá o seu mau cheiro, e subirá o seu fedor, porque ele tem feito grandes coisas.

2:20 But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he has done great things.

2:21 Não temas, ó terra; regozija-te e alegra-te, porque o Senhor tem feito grandes coisas.

2:21 Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things.

2:22 Não temais, animais do campo; porque os pastos do deserto já reverdecem, porque a árvore dá o seu fruto, e a vide e a figueira dão a sua força.

2:22 Be not afraid, all of you beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree bears her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.

2:23 Alegrai-vos, pois, filhos de Sião, e regozijai-vos no Senhor vosso Deus; porque ele vos dá em justa medida a chuva temporã, e faz descer abundante chuva, a temporã e a serôdia, como dantes.

2:23 Be glad then, all of you children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he has given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

2:24 E as eiras se encherão de trigo, e os lagares trasbordarão de mosto e de azeite.

2:24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.

2:25 Assim vos restituirei os anos que foram consumidos pela locusta voadora, a devoradora, a destruidora e a cortadora, o meu grande exército que enviei contra vós.

2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

2:26 Comereis abundantemente e vos fartareis, e louvareis o nome do Senhor vosso Deus, que procedeu para convosco maravilhosamente; e o meu povo nunca será envergonhado.

2:26 And all of you shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that has dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

2:27 Vós, pois, sabereis que eu estou no meio de Israel, e que eu sou o Senhor vosso Deus, e que não há outro; e o meu povo nunca mais será envergonhado.

2:27 And all of you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

2:28 Acontecerá depois que derramarei o meu Espírito sobre toda a carne; vossos filhos e vossas filhas profetizarão, os vossos anciãos terão sonhos, os vossos mancebos terão visões;

2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

2:29 e também sobre os servos e sobre as servas naqueles dias derramarei o meu Espírito.

2:29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

2:30 E mostrarei prodígios no céu e na terra, sangue e fogo, e colunas de fumaça.

2:30 And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

2:31 O sol se converterá em trevas, e a lua em sangue, antes que venha o grande e terrível dia do Senhor.

2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come.

2:32 E há de ser que todo aquele que invocar o nome do Senhor será salvo; pois no monte Sião e em Jerusalém estarão os que escaparem, como disse o Senhor, e entre os sobreviventes aqueles que o Senhor chamar.

2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD has said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

3:1 Pois eis que naqueles dias, e naquele tempo, em que eu restaurar os exilados de Judá e de Jerusalém,

3:1 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,

3:2 congregarei todas as nações, e as farei descer ao vale de Jeosafá; e ali com elas entrarei em juízo, por causa do meu povo, e da minha herança, Israel, a quem elas espalharam por entre as nações; repartiram a minha terra,

3:2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

3:3 e lançaram sortes sobre o meu povo; deram um menino por uma meretriz, e venderam uma menina por vinho, para beberem.

3:3 And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.

3:4 E também que tendes vós comigo, Tiro e Sidom, e todas as regiões da Filístia? Acaso quereis vingar-vos de mim? Se assim vos quereis vingar, bem depressa retribuirei o vosso feito sobre a vossa cabeça.

3:4 Yea, and what have all of you to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will all of you render me a recompence? and if all of you recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head;

3:5 Visto como levastes a minha prata e o meu ouro, e os meus ricos tesouros metestes nos vossos templos;

3:5 Because all of you have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things:

3:6 também vendestes os filhos de Judá e os filhos de Jerusalém aos filhos dos gregos, para os apartar para longe dos seus termos;

3:6 The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have all of you sold unto the Grecians, that all of you might remove them far from their border.

3:7 eis que eu os suscitarei do lugar para onde os vendestes, e retribuirei o vosso feito sobre a vossa cabeça;

3:7 Behold, I will raise them out of the place where all of you have sold them, and will return your recompence upon your own head:

3:8 pois venderei vossos filhos e vossas filhas na mão dos filhos de Judá, e estes os venderão aos sabeus, a uma nação remota, porque o Senhor o disse.

3:8 And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD has spoken it.

3:9 Proclamai isto entre as nações: Preparai a guerra, suscitai os valentes. Cheguem-se todos os homens de guerra, subam eles todos.

3:9 Proclaim all of you this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:

3:10 Forjai espadas das relhas dos vossos arados, e lanças das vossas podadeiras; diga o fraco: Eu sou forte.

3:10 Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.

3:11 Apressai-vos, e vinde, todos os povos em redor, e ajuntai- vos; para ali, ó Senhor, faze descer os teus valentes.

3:11 Assemble yourselves, and come, all you heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause your mighty ones to come down, O LORD.

3:12 Suscitem-se as nações, e subam ao vale de Jeosafá; pois ali me assentarei, para julgar todas as nações em redor.

3:12 Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.

3:13 Lançai a foice, porque já está madura a seara; vinde, descei, porque o lagar está cheio, os vasos dos lagares trasbordam, porquanto a sua malícia é grande.

3:13 Put all of you in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the wine-vats overflow; for their wickedness is great.

3:14 Multidões, multidões no vale da decisão! porque o dia do Senhor está perto, no vale da decisão.

3:14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.

3:15 O sol e a lua escurecem, e as estrelas retiram o seu resplendor.

3:15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.

3:16 E o Senhor brama de Sião, e de Jerusalém faz ouvir a sua voz; os céus e a terra tremem, mas o Senhor é o refúgio do seu povo, e a fortaleza dos filhos de Israel.

3:16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.

3:17 Assim vós sabereis que eu sou o Senhor vosso Deus, que habito em Sião, o meu santo monte; Jerusalém será santa, e estranhos não mais passarão por ela.

3:17 So shall all of you know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.

3:18 E naquele dia os montes destilarão mosto, e os outeiros manarão leite, e todos os ribeiros de Judá estarão cheios de águas; e sairá uma fonte da casa do Senhor, e regará o vale de Sitim.

3:18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth out of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.

3:19 O Egito se tornará uma desolação, e Edom se fará um deserto assolado, por causa da violência que fizeram aos filhos de Judá, em cuja terra derramaram sangue inocente.

3:19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

3:20 Mas Judá será habitada para sempre, e Jerusalém de geração em geração.

3:20 But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.

3:21 E purificarei o sangue que eu não tinha purificado; porque o Senhor habita em Sião.

3:21 For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwells in Zion.
