1:1 PEDRO, apóstol de Jesucristo, á los extranjeros esparcidos en Ponto, en Galacia, en Capadocia, en Asia, y en Bithinia,
1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
1:2 Elegidos según la presciencia de Dios Padre en santificación del Espíritu, para obedecer y ser rociados con la sangre de Jesucristo: Gracia y paz os sea multiplicada.
1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, (o. pneuma) unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
1:3 Bendito el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que según su grande misericordia nos ha regenerado en esperanza viva, por la resurrección de Jesucristo de los muertos,
1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy has begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1:4 Para una herencia incorruptible, y que no puede contaminarse, ni marchitarse, reservada en los cielos
1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for you,
1:5 Para nosotros que somos guardados en la virtud de Dios por fe, para alcanzar la salud que está aparejada para ser manifestada en el postrimero tiempo.
1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
1:6 En lo cual vosotros os alegráis, estando al presente un poco de tiempo afligidos en diversas tentaciones, si es necesario,
1:6 Wherein all of you greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, all of you are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
1:7 Para que la prueba de vuestra fe, mucho más preciosa que el oro, el cual perece, bien que sea probado con fuego, sea hallada en alabanza, gloria y honra, cuando Jesucristo fuera manifestado:
1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
1:8 Al cual, no habiendo visto, le amáis; en el cual creyendo, aunque al presente no lo veáis, os alegráis con gozo inefable y glorificado;
1:8 Whom having not seen, all of you love; in whom, though now all of you see him not, yet believing, all of you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
1:9 Obteniendo el fin de vuestra fe, que es la salud de vuestras almas.
1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
1:10 De la cual salud los profetas que profetizaron de la gracia que había de venir á vosotros, han inquirido y diligentemente buscado,
1:10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
1:11 Escudriñando cuándo y en qué punto de tiempo significaba el Espíritu de Cristo que estaba en ellos, el cual prenunciaba las aflicciones que habían de venir á Cristo, y las glorias después de ellas.
1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit (o. pneuma) of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
1:12 A los cuales fué revelado, que no para sí mismos, sino para nosotros administraban las cosas que ahora os son anunciadas de los que os han predicado el evangelio por el Espíritu Santo enviado del cielo; en las cuales desean mirar los ángeles.
1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Spirit (o. pneuma) sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
1:13 Por lo cual, teniendo los lomos de vuestro entendimiento ceñidos, con templanza, esperad perfectamente en la gracia que os es presentada cuando Jesucristo os es manifestado:
1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1:14 Como hijos obedientes, no conformándoos con los deseos que antes teníais estando en vuestra ignorancia;
1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
1:15 Sino como aquel que os ha llamado es santo, sed también vosotros santos en toda conversación:
1:15 But as he which has called you is holy, so be all of you holy in all manner of conversation;
1:16 Porque escrito está: Sed santos, porque yo soy santo.
1:16 Because it is written, Be all of you holy; for I am holy.
1:17 Y si invocáis por Padre á aquel que sin acepción de personas juzga según la obra de cada uno, conversad en temor todo el tiempo de vuestra peregrinación:
1:17 And if all of you call on the Father, who without respect of persons judges according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
1:18 Sabiendo que habéis sido rescatados de vuestra vana conversación, la cual recibisteis de vuestros padres, no con cosas corruptibles, como oro ó plata;
1:18 Forasmuch as all of you know that all of you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1:19 Sino con la sangre preciosa de Cristo, como de un cordero sin mancha y sin contaminación:
1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
1:20 Ya ordenado de antes de la fundación del mundo, pero manifestado en los postrimeros tiempos por amor de vosotros,
1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
1:21 Que por él creéis á Dios, el cual le resucitó de los muertos, y le ha dado gloria, para que vuestra fe y esperanza sea en Dios.
1:21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
1:22 Habiendo purificado vuestra almas en la obediencia de la verdad, por el Espíritu, en caridad hermanable sin fingimiento, amaos unos á otros entrañablemente de corazón puro:
1:22 Seeing all of you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit (o. pneuma) unto sincere love of the brethren, see that all of you love one another with a pure heart fervently:
1:23 Siendo renacidos, no de simiente corruptible, sino de incorruptible, por la palabra de Dios, que vive y permanece para siempre.
1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word (o. logos) of God, which lives and abides for ever.
1:24 Porque Toda carne es como la hierba, Y toda la gloria del hombre como la flor de la hierba: Secóse la hierba, y la flor se cayó;
1:24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower thereof falls away:
1:25 Mas la palabra del Señor permanece perpetuamente. Y esta es la palabra que por el evangelio os ha sido anunciada.
1:25 But the word (o. rhema) of the Lord endures for ever. And this is the word (o. rhema) which by the gospel is preached unto you.

2:1 DEJANDO pues toda malicia, y todo engaño, y fingimientos, y envidias, y todas las detracciones,
2:1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, all evil speaking,
2:2 Desead, como niños recién nacidos, la leche espiritual, sin engaño, para que por ella crezcáis en salud:
2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that all of you may grow thereby:
2:3 Si empero habéis gustado que el Señor es benigno;
2:3 If so be all of you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
2:4 Al cual allegándoos, piedra viva, reprobada cierto de los hombres, empero elegida de Dios, preciosa,
2:4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
2:5 Vosotros también, como piedras vivas, sed edificados una casa espitirual, y un sacerdocio santo, para ofrecer sacrificios espirituales, agradables á Dios por Jesucristo.
2:5 All of you also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
2:6 Por lo cual también contiene la Escritura: He aquí, pongo en Sión la principal piedra del ángulo, escogida, preciosa; Y el que creyere en ella, no será confundido.
2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be confounded.
2:7 Ella es pues honor á vosotros que creéis: mas para los desobedientes, La piedra que los edificadores reprobaron, Esta fué hecha la cabeza del ángulo;
2:7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
2:8 Y Piedra de tropiezo, y roca de escándalo á aquellos que tropiezan en la palabra, siendo desobedientes; para lo cual fueron también ordenados.
2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, (o. logos) being disobedient: unto which also they were appointed.
2:9 Mas vosotros sois linaje escogido, real sacerdocio, gente santa, pueblo adquirido, para que anunciéis las virtudes de aquel que os ha llamado de las tinieblas á su luz admirable.
2:9 But all of you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, an exclusive people; that all of you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
2:10 Vosotros, que en el tiempo pasado no erais pueblo, mas ahora sois pueblo de Dios; que en el tiempo pasado no habíais alcanzado misericordia.
2:10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
2:11 Amados, yo os ruego como á extranjeros y peregrinos, os abstengáis de los deseos carnales que batallan contra el alma,
2:11 Dearly beloved, I plead to you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
2:12 Teniendo vuestra conversación honesta entre los Gentiles; para que, en lo que ellos murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, glorifiquen á Dios en el día de la visitación, estimándoos por las buenas obras.
2:12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
2:13 Sed pues sujetos á toda ordenación humana por respeto á Dios: ya sea al rey, como á superior,
2:13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
2:14 Ya á los gobernadores, como de él enviados para venganza de los malhechores, y para loor de los que hacen bien.
2:14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
2:15 Porque esta es la voluntad de Dios; que haciendo bien, hagáis callara la ignorancia de los hombres vanos:
2:15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing all of you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
2:16 Como libres, y no como teniendo la libertad por cobertura de malicia, sino como siervos de Dios.
2:16 As free, and not using your liberty for a coat of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
2:17 Honrad á todos. Amad la fraternidad. Temed á Dios. Honrad al rey.
2:17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
2:18 Siervos, sed sujetos con todo temor á vuestros amos; no solamente á los buenos y humanos, sino también á los rigurosos.
2:18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the perverse.
2:19 Porque esto es agradable, si alguno á causa de la conciencia delante de Dios, sufre molestias padeciendo injustamente.
2:19 For this deserves giving of thanks, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
2:20 Porque ¿qué gloria es, si pecando vosotros sois abofeteados, y lo sufrís? mas si haciendo bien sois afligidos, y lo sufrís, esto ciertamente es agradable delante de Dios.
2:20 For what glory is it, if, when all of you be buffeted for your faults, all of you shall take it patiently? but if, when all of you do well, and suffer for it, all of you take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
2:21 Porque para esto sois llamados; pues que también Cristo padeció por nosotros, dejándonos ejemplo, para que vosotros sigáis sus pisadas:
2:21 For even hereunto were all of you called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that all of you should follow his steps:
2:22 El cual no hizo pecado; ni fué hallado engaño en su boca:
2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
2:23 Quien cuando le maldecían no retornaba maldición: cuando padecía, no amenazaba, sino remitía la causa al que juzga justamente:
2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judges righteously:
2:24 El cual mismo llevó nuestros pecados en su cuerpo sobre el madero, para que nosotros siendo muertos á los pecados, vivamos á la justicia: por la herida del cual habéis sido sanados.
2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes all of you were healed.
2:25 Porque vosotros erais como ovejas descarriadas; mas ahora habéis vuelto al Padre y Obispo de vuestras almas.
2:25 For all of you were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

3:1 ASIMISMO vosotras, mujeres, sed sujetas á vuestros maridos; para que también los que no creen á la palabra, sean ganados sin palabra por la conversación de sus mujeres,
3:1 Likewise, all of you wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, (o. logos) they also may without the word (o. logos) be won by the conversation of the wives;
3:2 Considerando vuestra casta conversación, que es en temor.
3:2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with (o. rhema) fear.
3:3 El adorno de las cuales no sea exterior con encrespamiento del cabello, y atavío de oro, ni en compostura de ropas;
3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
3:4 Sino el hombre del corazón que está encubierto, en incorruptible ornato de espíritu agradable y pacífico, lo cual es de grande estima delante de Dios.
3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, (o. pneuma) which is in the sight of God of great price.
3:5 Porque así también se ataviaban en el tiempo antiguo aquellas santas mujeres que esperaban en Dios, siendo sujetas á sus maridos:
3:5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
3:6 Como Sara obedecía á Abraham, llamándole señor; de la cual vosotras sois hechas hijas, haciendo bien, y no sois espantadas de ningún pavor.
3:6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters all of you are, as long as all of you do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
3:7 Vosotros maridos, semejantemente, habitad con ellas según ciencia, dando honor á la mujer como á vaso más frágil, y como á herederas juntamente de la gracia de la vida; para que vuestras oraciones no sean impedidas.
3:7 Likewise, all of you husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
3:8 Y finalmente, sed todos de un mismo corazón, compasivos, amándoos fraternalmente, misericordiosos, amigables;
3:8 Finally, be all of you all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
3:9 No volviendo mal por mal, ni maldición por maldición, sino antes por el contrario, bendiciendo; sabiendo que vosotros sois llamados para que poseáis bendición en herencia.
3:9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that all of you are thereunto called, that all of you should inherit a blessing.
3:10 Porque El que quiere amar la vida, Y ver días buenos, Refrene su lengua de mal, Y sus labios no hablen engaño;
3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
3:11 Apártase del mal, y haga bien; Busque la paz, y sígala.
3:11 Let him shun evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and pursue it.
3:12 Porque los ojos del Señor están sobre los justos, Y sus oídos atentos á sus oraciones: Pero el rostro del Señor está sobre aquellos que hacen mal.
3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
3:13 ¿Y quién es aquel que os podrá dañar, si vosotros seguís el bien?
3:13 And who is he that will harm you, if all of you be followers of that which is good?
3:14 Mas también si alguna cosa padecéis por hacer bien, sois bienaventurados. Por tanto, no temáis por el temor de ellos, ni seáis turbados;
3:14 But and if all of you suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are all of you: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
3:15 Sino santificad al Señor Dios en vuestros corazones, y estad siempre aparejados para responder con masedumbre y reverencia á cada uno que os demande razón de la esperanza que hay en vosotros:
3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason (o. logos) of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
3:16 Teniendo buena conciencia, para que en lo que murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, sean confundidos los que blasfeman vuestra buena conversación en Cristo.
3:16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
3:17 Porque mejor es que padezcáis haciendo bien, si la voluntad de Dios así lo quiere, que haciendo mal.
3:17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that all of you suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
3:18 Porque también Cristo padeció una vez por los injustos, para llevarnos á Dios, siendo á la verdad muerto en la carne, pero vivificado en espíritu;
3:18 For Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: (o. pneuma)
3:19 En el cual también fué y predicó á los espíritus encarcelados;
3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits (o. pneuma) in prison;
3:20 Los cuales en otro tiempo fueron desobedientes, cuando una vez esperaba la paciencia de Dios en los días de Noé, cuando se aparejaba el arca; en la cual pocas, es á saber, ocho personas fueron salvas por agua.
3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
3:21 A la figura de la cual el bautismo que ahora corresponde nos salva (no quitando las inmundicias de la carne, sino como demanda de una buena conciencia delante de Dios,) por la resurrección de Jesucristo:
3:21 The like figure unto which even baptism does also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
3:22 El cual está á la diestra de Dios, habiendo subido al cielo; estando á él sujetos los ángeles, y las potestades, y virtudes.
3:22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

4:1 PUES que Cristo ha padecido por nosotros en la carne, vosotros también estad armados del mismo pensamiento: que el que ha padecido en la carne, cesó de pecado;
4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;
4:2 Para que ya el tiempo que queda en carne, viva, no á las concupiscencias de los hombres, sino á la voluntad de Dios.
4:2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
4:3 Porque nos debe bastar que el tiempo pasado de nuestra vida hayamos hecho la voluntad de los Gentiles, cuando conversábamos en lascivias, en concupiscencias, en embriagueces, abominables idolatrías.
4:3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
4:4 En lo cual les parece cosa extraña que vosotros no corráis con ellos en el mismo desenfrenamiento de disolución, ultrajándoos:
4:4 Wherein they think it strange that all of you run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
4:5 Los cuales darán cuenta al que está aparejado para juzgar los vivos y los muertos.
4:5 Who shall give account (o. logos) to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
4:6 Porque por esto también ha sido predicado el evangelio á los muertos; para que sean juzgados en carne según los hombres, y vivan en espíritu según Dios.
4:6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. (o. pneuma)
4:7 Mas el fin de todas las cosas se acerca: sed pues templados, y velad en oración.
4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be all of you therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
4:8 Y sobre todo, tened entre vosotros ferviente caridad; porque la caridad cubrirá multitud de pecados.
4:8 And above all things have fervent love (o. agape) among yourselves: for love (o. agape) shall cover the multitude of sins.
4:9 Hospedaos los unos á los otros sin murmuraciones.
4:9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
4:10 Cada uno según el don que ha recibido, adminístrelo á los otros, como buenos dispensadores de las diferentes gracias de Dios.
4:10 As every man has received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
4:11 Si alguno habla, hable conforme á las palabras de Dios; si alguno ministra, ministre conforme á la virtud que Dios suministra: para que en todas cosas sea Dios glorificado por Jesucristo, al cual es gloria é imperio para siempre jamás. Amén.
4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God gives: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
4:12 Carísimos, no os maravilléis cuando sois examinados por fuego, lo cual se hace para vuestra prueba, como si alguna cosa peregrina os aconteciese;
4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
4:13 Antes bien gozaos en que sois participantes de las aflicciones de Cristo; para que también en la revelación de su gloria os gocéis en triunfo.
4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as all of you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, all of you may be glad also with exceeding joy.
4:14 Si sois vituperados en el nombre de Cristo, sois bienaventurados; porque la gloria y el Espíritu de Dios reposan sobre vosotros. Cierto, según ellos, él es blasfemado, mas según vosotros es glorificado.
4:14 If all of you be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are all of you; for the spirit (o. pneuma) of glory and of God rests upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
4:15 Así que, ninguno de vosotros padezca como homicida, ó ladrón, ó malhechor, ó por meterse en negocios ajenos.
4:15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.
4:16 Pero si alguno padece como Cristiano, no se avergüence; antes glorifique á Dios en esta parte.
4:16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
4:17 Porque es tiempo de que el juicio comience de la casa de Dios: y si primero comienza por nosotros, ¿qué será el fin de aquellos que no obedecen al evangelio de Dios?
4:17 For the time has come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
4:18 Y si el justo con dificultad se salva; ¿á dónde aparecerá el infiel y el pecador?
4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
4:19 Y por eso los que son afligidos según la voluntad de Dios, encomiéndenle sus almas, como á fiel Criador, haciendo bien.
4:19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

5:1 RUEGO á los ancianos que están entre vosotros, yo anciano también con ellos, y testigo de las afliciciones de Cristo, que soy también participante de la gloria que ha de ser revelada:
5:1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
5:2 Apacentad la grey de Dios que está entre vosotros, teniendo cuidado de ella, no por fuerza, sino voluntariamente; no por ganancia deshonesta, sino de un ánimo pronto;
5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy illegal gain, but of a ready mind;
5:3 Y no como teniendo señorío sobre las heredades del Señor, sino siendo dechados de la grey.
5:3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
5:4 Y cuando apareciere el Príncipe de los pastores, vosotros recibiréis la corona incorruptible de gloria.
5:4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, all of you shall receive a crown of glory that fades not away.
5:5 Igualmente, mancebos, sed sujetos á los ancianos; y todos sumisos unos á otros, revestíos de humildad; porque Dios resiste á los soberbios, y da gracia á los humildes.
5:5 Likewise, all of you younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.
5:6 Humillaos pues bajo la poderosa mano de Dios, para que él os ensalce cuando fuere tiempo;
5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
5:7 Echando toda vuestra solicitud en él, porque él tiene cuidado de vosotros.
5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you.
5:8 Sed templados, y velad; porque vuestro adversario el diablo, cual león rugiente, anda alrededor buscando á quien devore:
5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour:
5:9 Al cual resistid firmes en la fe, sabiendo que las mismas aflicciones han de ser cumplidas en la compañía de vuestros hermanos que están en el mundo.
5:9 Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
5:10 Mas el Dios de toda gracia, que nos ha llamado á su gloria eterna por Jesucristo, después que hubiereis un poco de tiempo padecido, él mismo os perfeccione, coforme, corrobore y establezca.
5:10 But the God of all grace, who has called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that all of you have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.
5:11 A él sea gloria é imperio para siempre. Amén.
5:11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
5:12 Por Silvano, el hermano fiel, según yo pienso, os he escrito brevemente, amonestándo os, y testificando que ésta es la verdadera gracia de Dios, en la cual estáis.
5:12 By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein all of you stand.
5:13 La iglesia que está en Babilonia, juntamente elegida con vosotros, os saluda, y Marcos mi hijo.
5:13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, salutes you; and so does Marcus my son.
5:14 Saludaos unos á otros con ósculo de caridad. Paz sea con todos vosotros los que estáis en Jesucristo. Amén.
5:14 Greet all of you one another with a kiss of love. (o. agape) Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

1:1 SIMON Pedro, siervo y apóstol de Jesucristo, á los que habéis alcanzado fe igualmente preciosa con nosotros en la justicia de nuestro Dios y Salvador Jesucristo:
1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
1:2 Gracia y paz os sea multiplicada en el conocimiento de Dios, y de nuestro Señor Jesús.
1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
1:3 Como todas las cosas que pertenecen á la vida y á la piedad nos sean dadas de su divina potencia, por el conocimiento de aquel que nos ha llamado por su gloria y virtud:
1:3 According as his divine power has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that has called us to glory and virtue:
1:4 Por las cuales nos son dadas preciosas y grandísimas promesas, para que por ellas fueseis hechos participantes de la naturaleza divina, habiendo huído de la corrupción que está en el mundo por concupiscencia.
1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these all of you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
1:5 Vosotros también, poniendo toda diligencia por esto mismo, mostrad en vuestra fe virtud, y en la virtud ciencia;
1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
1:6 Y en la ciencia templanza, y en la templanza paciencia, y en la paciencia temor de Dios;
1:6 And to knowledge wilful restrain; and to wilful restrain patience; and to patience godliness;
1:7 Y en el temor de Dios, amor fraternal, y en el amor fraternal caridad.
1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love. (o. agape)
1:8 Porque si en vosotros hay estas cosas, y abundan, no os dejarán estar ociosos, ni estériles en el conocimiento de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that all of you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1:9 Mas el que no tiene estas cosas, es ciego, y tiene la vista muy corta, habiendo olvidado la purificación de sus antiguos pecados.
1:9 But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see far off, and has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
1:10 Por lo cual, hermanos, procurad tanto más de hacer firme vuestra vocación y elección; porque haciendo estas cosas, no caeréis jamás.
1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if all of you do these things, all of you shall never fall:
1:11 Porque de esta manera os será abundantemente administrada la entrada en el reino eterno de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo.
1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
1:12 Por esto, yo no dejaré de amonestaros siempre de estas cosas, aunque vosotros las sepáis, y estéis confirmados en la verdad presente.
1:12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though all of you know them, and be established in the present truth.
1:13 Porque tengo por justo, en tanto que estoy en este tabernáculo, de incitaros con amonestación:
1:13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;
1:14 Sabiendo que brevemente tengo de dejar mi tabernáculo, como nuestro Señor Jesucristo me ha declarado.
1:14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ has showed me.
1:15 También yo procuraré con diligencia, que después de mi fallecimiento, vosotros podáis siempre tener memoria de estas cosas.
1:15 Moreover I will endeavour that all of you may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
1:16 Porque no os hemos dado á conocer la potencia y la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, siguiendo fábulas por arte compuestas; sino como habiendo con nuestros propios ojos visto su majestad.
1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
1:17 Porque él había recibido de Dios Padre honra y gloria, cuando una tal voz fué á él enviada de la magnífica gloria: Este es el amado Hijo mío, en el cual yo me he agradado.
1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
1:18 Y nosotros oímos esta voz enviada del cielo, cuando estábamos juntamente con él en el monte santo.
1:18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
1:19 Tenemos también la palabra profética más permanente, á la cual hacéis bien de estar atentos como á una antorcha que alumbra en lugar oscuro hasta que el día esclarezca, y el lucero de la mañana salga en vuestros corazones:
1:19 We have also a more sure word (o. logos) of prophecy; unto which all of you do well that all of you take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
1:20 Entendiendo primero esto, que ninguna profecía de la Escritura es de particular interpretación;
1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
1:21 Porque la profecía no fué en los tiempos pasados traída por voluntad humana, sino los santos hombres de Dios hablaron siendo inspirados del Espíritu Santo.
1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. (o. pneuma)
IIPeter / II PEDRO
2:1 PERO hubo también falsos profetas en el pueblo, como habrá entre vosotros falsos doctores, que introducirán encubiertamente herejías de perdición, y negarán al Señor que los rescató, atrayendo sobre sí mismos perdición acelerada.
2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privately shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2:2 Y muchos seguirán sus disoluciones, por los cuales el camino de la verdad será blasfemado;
2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
2:3 Y por avaricia harán mercadería de vosotros con palabras fingidas, sobre los cuales la condenación ya de largo tiempo no se tarda, y su perdición no se duerme.
2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words (o. logos) make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingers not, and their damnation slumbers not.
2:4 Porque si Dios no perdonó á los ángeles que habían pecado, sino que habiéndolos despeñado en el infierno con cadenas de oscuridad, los entregó para ser reservados al juicio;
2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
2:5 Y si no perdonó al mundo viejo, mas guardó á Noé, pregonero de justicia, con otras siete personas, trayendo el diluvio sobre el mundo de malvados;
2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
2:6 Y si condenó por destrucción las ciudades de Sodoma y de Gomorra, tornándolas en ceniza, y poniéndolas por ejemplo á los que habían de vivir sin temor y reverencia de Dios,
2:6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example unto those that after should live ungodly;
2:7 Y libró al justo Lot, acosado por la nefanda conducta de los malvados;
2:7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
2:8 (Porque este justo, con ver y oir, morando entre ellos, afligía cada día su alma justa con los hechos de aquellos injustos;)
2:8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
2:9 Sabe el Señor librar de tentación á los píos, y reservar á los injustos para ser atormentados en el día del juicio;
2:9 The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
2:10 Y principalmente á aquellos que, siguiendo la carne, andan en concupiscencia é inmundicia, y desprecian la potestad; atrevidos, contumaces, que no temen decir mal de las potestades superiores:
2:10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Arrogant are they, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
2:11 Como quiera que los mismos ángeles, que son mayores en fuerza y en potencia, no pronuncian juicio de maldición contra ellas delante del Señor.
2:11 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.
2:12 Mas éstos, diciendo mal de las cosas que no entienden, como bestias brutas, que naturalmente son hechas para presa y destrucción, perecerán en su perdición,
2:12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;
2:13 Recibiendo el galardón de su injusticia, ya que reputan por delicia poder gozar de deleites cada día. Estos son suciedades y manchas, los cuales comiendo con vosotros, juntamente se recrean en sus errores;
2:13 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceits while they feast with you;
2:14 Teniendo los ojos llenos de adulterio, y no saben cesar de pecar; cebando las almas inconstantes; teniendo el corazón ejercitado en codicias, siendo hijos de maldición;
2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
2:15 Que han dejado el camino derecho, y se han extraviado, siguiendo el camino de Balaam, hijo de Bosor, el cual amó el premio de la maldad.
2:15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
2:16 Y fué reprendido por su iniquidad: una muda bestia de carga, hablando en voz de hombre, refrenó la locura del profeta.
2:16 But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
2:17 Estos son fuentes sin agua, y nubes traídas de torbellino de viento: para los cuales está guardada la oscuridad de las tinieblas para siempre.
2:17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
2:18 Porque hablando arrogantes palabras de vanidad, ceban con las concupiscencias de la carne en disoluciones á los que verdaderamente habían huído de los que conversan en error;
2:18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
2:19 Prometiéndoles libertad, siendo ellos mismos siervos de corrupción. Porque el que es de alguno vencido, es sujeto á la servidumbre del que lo venció.
2:19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
2:20 Ciertamente, si habiéndose ellos apartado de las contaminaciones del mundo, por el conocimiento del Señor y Salvador Jesucristo, y otra vez envolviéndose en ellas, son vencidos, sus postrimerías les son hechas peores que los principios.
2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
2:21 Porque mejor les hubiera sido no haber conocido el camino de la justicia, que después de haberlo conocido, tornarse atrás del santo mandamiento que les fué dado.
2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
2:22 Pero les ha acontecido lo del verdadero proverbio: El perro se volvió á su vómito, y la puerca lavada á revolcarse en el cieno.
2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

3:1 CARISIMOS, yo os escribo ahora esta segunda carta, por las cuales ambas despierto con exhortación vuestro limpio entendimiento;
3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
3:2 Para que tengáis memoria de las palabras que antes han sido dichas por los santos profetas, y de nuestro mandamiento, que somos apóstoles del Señor y Salvador:
3:2 That all of you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3:3 Sabiendo primero esto, que en los postrimeros días vendrán burladores, andando según sus propias concupiscencias,
3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
3:4 Y diciendo: ¿Dónde está la promesa de su advenimiento? porque desde el día en que los padres durmieron, todas las cosas permanecen así como desde el principio de la creación.
3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
3:5 Cierto ellos ignoran voluntariamente, que los cielos fueron en el tiempo antiguo, y la tierra que por agua y en agua está asentada, por la palabra de Dios;
3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word (o. logos) of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
3:6 Por lo cual el mundo de entonces pereció anegado en agua:
3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
3:7 Mas los cielos que son ahora, y la tierra, son conservados por la misma palabra, guardados para el fuego en el día del juicio, y de la perdición de los hombres impíos.
3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word (o. logos) are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
3:8 Mas, oh amados, no ignoréis esta una cosa: que un día delante del Señor es como mil años y mil años como un día.
3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
3:9 El Señor no tarda su promesa, como algunos la tienen por tardanza; sino que es paciente para con nosotros, no queriendo que ninguno perezca, sino que todos procedan al arrepentimiento.
3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
3:10 Mas el día del Señor vendrá como ladrón en la noche; en el cual los cielos pasarán con grande estruendo, y los elementos ardiendo serán deshechos, y la tierra y las obras que en ella están serán quemadas.
3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
3:11 Pues como todas estas cosas han de ser deshechas, ¿qué tales conviene que vosotros seáis en santas y pías conversaciones,
3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought all of you to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
3:12 Esperando y apresurándoos para la venida del día de Dios, en el cual los cielos siendo encendidos serán deshechos, y los elementos siendo abrasados, se fundirán?
3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
3:13 Bien que esperamos cielos nuevos y tierra nueva, según sus promesas, en los cuales mora la justicia.
3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness.
3:14 Por lo cual, oh amados, estando en esperanza de estas cosas, procurad con diligencia que seáis hallados de él sin mácula, y sin reprensión, en paz.
3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that all of you look for such things, be diligent that all of you may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
3:15 Y tened por salud la paciencia de nuestro Señor; como también nuestro amado hermano Pablo, según la sabiduría que le ha sido dada, os ha escrito también;
3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him has written unto you;
3:16 Casi en todas sus epístolas, hablando en ellas de estas cosas; entre las cuales hay algunas difíciles de entender, las cuales los indoctos é inconstantes tuercen, como también las otras Escrituras, para perdición de sí mismos.
3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable shift, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
3:17 Así que vosotros, oh amados, pues estáis amonestados, guardaos que por el error de los abominables no seáis juntamente extraviados, y caigáis de vuestra firmeza.
3:17 All of you therefore, beloved, seeing all of you know these things before, beware lest all of you also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness.
3:18 Mas creced en la gracia y conocimiento de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo. A él sea gloria ahora y hasta el día de la eternidad. Amén.
3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
