1:1 PALABRA de Jehová que fué á Joel hijo de Pethuel.

1:1 The word of the LORD that came to Joel the son of Pethuel.

1:2 Oid esto, viejos, y escuchad, todos los moradores de la tierra. ¿Ha acontecido esto en vuestros días, ó en los días de vuestros padres?

1:2 Hear this, all of you old men, and give ear, all you inhabitants of the land. Has this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?

1:3 De esto contaréis á vuestros hijos, y vuestros hijos á sus hijos, y su hijos á la otra generación.

1:3 Tell all of you your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.

1:4 Lo que quedó de la oruga comió la langosta, y lo que quedó de la langosta comió el pulgón; y el revoltón comió lo que del pulgón había quedado.

1:4 That which the palmerworm has left has the locust eaten; and that which the locust has left has the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm has left has the caterpillar eaten.

1:5 Despertad, borrachos, y llorad; aullad todos los que bebéis vino, á causa del mosto, porque os es quitado de vuestra boca.

1:5 Awake, all of you drunkards, and weep; and wail, all you drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.

1:6 Porque gente subió á mi tierra, fuerte y sin número; sus dientes, dientes de león, y sus muelas, de león.

1:6 For a nation has come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he has the cheek teeth of a great lion.

1:7 Asoló mi vid, y descortezó mi higuera: del todo la desnudó y derribó: sus ramas quedaron blancas.

1:7 He has laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he has made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.

1:8 Llora tú como moza vestida de saco por el marido de su juventud.

1:8 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

1:9 Pereció el presente y la libación de la casa de Jehová: los sacerdotes ministros de Jehová hicieron luto.

1:9 The food offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests, the LORD's ministers, mourn.

1:10 El campo fué destruído, enlutóse la tierra; porque el trigo fué destuído, se secó el mosto, perdióse el aceite.

1:10 The field is wasted, the land mourns; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languishes.

1:11 Confundíos, labradores, aullad, viñeros, por el trigo y la cebada; porque se perdió la mies del campo.

1:11 Be all of you ashamed, O all of you husbandmen; wail, O all of you vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.

1:12 Secóse la vid, y pereció la higuera, el granado también, la palma, y el manzano; secáronse todos los árboles del campo; por lo cual se secó el gozo de los hijos de los hombres.

1:12 The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languishes; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

1:13 Ceñíos y lamentad, sacerdotes; aullad, ministros del altar; venid, dormid en sacos, ministros de mi Dios: porque quitado es de la casa de vuestro Dios el presente y la libación.

1:13 Gird yourselves, and lament, all of you priests: wail, all of you ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, all of you ministers of my God: for the food offering and the drink offering is withheld from the house of your God.

1:14 Pregonad ayuno, llamad á congregación; congregad los ancianos y todos los moradores de la tierra en la casa de Jehová vuestro Dios, y clamad á Jehová.

1:14 Sanctify all of you a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD,

1:15 Ay del día! porque cercano está el día de Jehová, y vendrá como destrucción por el Todopoderoso.

1:15 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.

1:16 ¿No es quitado el mantenimiento de delante de nuestros ojos, la alegría y el placer de la casa de nuestro Dios?

1:16 Is not the food cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?

1:17 El grano se pudrió debajo de sus terrones, los bastimentos fueron asolados, los alfolíes destruídos; porque se secó el trigo.

1:17 The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.

1:18 Cuánto gimieron las bestias! ¡cuán turbados anduvieron los hatos de los bueyes, porque no tuvieron pastos! también fueron asolados los rebaños de las ovejas.

1:18 How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.

1:19 A ti, oh Jehová, clamaré: porque fuego consumió los pastos del desierto, y llama abrasó todos los árboles del campo.

1:19 O LORD, to you will I cry: for the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame has burned all the trees of the field.

1:20 Las bestias del campo bramarán también á ti; porque se secaron los arroyos de las aguas, y fuego consumió las praderías del desierto.

1:20 The beasts of the field cry also unto you: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.

2:1 TOCAD trompeta en Sión, y pregondad en mi santo monte: tiemblen todos los moradores de la tierra; porque viene el día de Jehová, porque está cercano.

2:1 Blow all of you the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD comes, for it is nigh at hand;

2:2 Día de tinieblas y de oscuridad, día de nube y de sombra, que sobre los montes se derrama como el alba: un pueblo grande y fuerte: nunca desde el siglo fué semejante, ni después de él será jamás en años de generación en generación.

2:2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there has not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.

2:3 Delante de él consumirá fuego, tras de él abrasará llama; como el huerto de Edén será la tierra delante de él, y detrás de él como desierto asolado; ni tampoco habrá quien de él escape.

2:3 A fire devours before them; and behind them a flame burns: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.

2:4 Su parecer, como parecer de caballos; y como gente de á caballo correrán.

2:4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.

2:5 Como estruendo de carros saltarán sobre las cumbres de los montes; como sonido de llama de fuego que consume hojarascas, como fuerte pueblo aparejado para la batalla.

2:5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devours the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

2:6 Delante de él temerán los pueblos, pondránse mustios todos los semblantes.

2:6 Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.

2:7 Como valientes correrán, como hombres de guerra subirán la muralla; y cada cual irá en sus caminos, y no torcerán sus sendas.

2:7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:

2:8 Ninguno apretará á su compañero, cada uno irá por su carrera; y aun cayendo sobre la espada no se herirán.

2:8 Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.

2:9 Irán por la ciudad, correrán por el muro, subirán por las casas, entrarán por las ventanas á manera de ladrones.

2:9 They shall run back and forth in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.

2:10 Delante de él temblará la tierra, se estremecerán los cielos: el sol y la luna se oscurecerán, y las estrellas retraerán su resplandor.

2:10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:

2:11 Y Jehová dará su voz delante de su ejército: porque muchos son sus reales y fuertes, que ponen en efecto su palabra: porque grande es el día de Jehová, y muy terrible; ¿y quién lo podrá sufrir?

2:11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executes his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

2:12 Por eso pues ahora, dice Jehová, convertíos á mí con todo vuestro corazón, con ayuno y lloro y llanto.

2:12 Therefore also now, says the LORD, turn all of you even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

2:13 Y lacerad vuestro corazón, y no vuestros vestidos; y convertíos á Jehová vuestro Dios; porque misericordioso es y clemente, tardo para la ira, y grande en misericordia, y que se arrepiente del castigo.

2:13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repents him of the evil.

2:14 ¿Quién sabe si volverá, y se apiadará, y dejará bendición tras de él, presente y libación para Jehová Dios vuestro?

2:14 Who knows if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a food offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?

2:15 Tocad trompeta en Sión, pregonad ayuno, llamad á congregación.

2:15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:

2:16 Reunid el pueblo, santificad la reunión, juntad los viejos, congregad los niños y los que maman: salga de su cámara el novio, y de su tálamo la novia.

2:16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go out of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.

2:17 Entre la entrada y el altar, lloren los sacerdotes, ministros de Jehová, y digan: Perdona, oh Jehová, á tu pueblo, y no pongas en oprobio tu heredad, para que las gentes se enseñoreen de ella. ¿Por qué han de decir entre los pueblos: Dónde está su Dios?

2:17 Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare your people, O LORD, and give not yours heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?

2:18 Y Jehová celará su tierra, y perdonará su pueblo.

2:18 Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people.

2:19 Y responderá Jehová, y dirá á su pueblo: He aquí yo os envío pan, y mosto, y aceite, y seréis saciados de ellos: y nunca más os pondré en oprobio entre las gentes.

2:19 Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and all of you shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen:

2:20 Y haré alejar de vosotros al del aquilón, y echarélo en la tierra seca y desierta: su faz será hacia el mar oriental, y su fin al mar occidental, y exhalará su hedor; y subirá su pudrición, porque hizo grandes cosas.

2:20 But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he has done great things.

2:21 Tierra, no temas; alégrate y gózate: porque Jehová ha de hacer grandes cosas.

2:21 Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things.

2:22 Animales del campo, no temáis; porque los pastos del desierto reverdecerán, porque los árboles llevarán su fruto, la higuera y la vid darán sus frutos.

2:22 Be not afraid, all of you beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree bears her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.

2:23 Vosotros también, hijos de Sión, alegraos y gozaos en Jehová vuestro Dios; porque os ha dado la primera lluvia arregladamente, y hará descender sobre vosotros lluvia temprana y tardía como al principio.

2:23 Be glad then, all of you children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he has given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

2:24 Y las eras se henchirán de trigo, y los lagares rebosarán de vino y aceite.

2:24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.

2:25 Y os restituiré los años que comió la oruga, la langosta, el pulgón, y el revoltón; mi grande ejército que envié contra vosotros.

2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

2:26 Y comeréis hasta saciaros, y alabaréis el nombre de Jehová vuestro Dios, el cual hizo maravillas con vosotros: y nunca jamás será mi pueblo avergonzado.

2:26 And all of you shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that has dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

2:27 Y conoceréis que en medio de Israel estoy yo, y que yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios, y no hay otro: y mi pueblo nunca jamás será avergonzado.

2:27 And all of you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

2:28 Y será que después de esto, derramaré mi Espíritu sobre toda carne, y profetizarán vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas; vuestros viejos soñarán sueños, y vuestros mancebos verán visiones.

2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

2:29 Y aun también sobre los siervos y sobre las siervas derramaré mi Espíritu en aquellos días.

2:29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

2:30 Y daré prodigios en el cielo y en la tierra, sangre, y fuego, y columnas de humo.

2:30 And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

2:31 El sol se tornará en tinieblas, y la luna en sangre, antes que venga el día grande y espantoso de Jehová.

2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come.

2:32 Y será que cualquiera que invocare el nombre de Jehová, será salvo: porque en el monte de Sión y en Jerusalem habrá salvación, como Jehová ha dicho, y en los que quedaren, á los cuales Jehová habrá llamado.

2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD has said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

3:1 PORQUE he aquí que en aquellos días, y en aquel tiempo en que haré tornar la cautividad de Judá y de Jerusalem,

3:1 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,

3:2 Juntaré todas las gentes, y harélas descender al valle de Josaphat, y allí entraré en juicio con ellos á causa de mi pueblo, y de Israel mi heredad, á los cuales esparcieron entre las naciones, y partieron mi tierra:

3:2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

3:3 Y echaron suertes sobre mi pueblo, y á los niños dieron por una ramera, y vendieron las niñas por vino para beber.

3:3 And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.

3:4 Y también, ¿qué tengo yo con vosotras, Tiro y Sidón, y todos los términos de Palestina? ¿Queréis vengaros de mí? Y si de mí os vengáis, bien pronto haré yo recaer la paga sobre vuestra cabeza.

3:4 Yea, and what have all of you to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will all of you render me a recompence? and if all of you recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head;

3:5 Porque habéis llevado mi plata y mi oro, y mis cosas preciosas y hermosas metisteis en vuestros templos:

3:5 Because all of you have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things:

3:6 Y vendisteis los hijos de Judá y los hijos de Jerusalem á los hijos de los Griegos, por alejarlos de sus términos.

3:6 The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have all of you sold unto the Grecians, that all of you might remove them far from their border.

3:7 He aquí los levantaré yo del lugar donde los vendisteis, y volveré vuestra paga sobre vuestra cabeza.

3:7 Behold, I will raise them out of the place where all of you have sold them, and will return your recompence upon your own head:

3:8 Y venderé vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas en la mano de los hijos de Judá, y ellos los venderán á los Sabeos, nación apartada; porque Jehová ha hablado.

3:8 And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD has spoken it.

3:9 Pregonad esto entre las gentes, proclamad guerra, despertad á los valientes, lléguense, vengan todos los hombres de guerra.

3:9 Proclaim all of you this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:

3:10 Haced espadas de vuestros azadones, lanzas de vuestras hoces; diga el flaco: Fuerte soy.

3:10 Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.

3:11 Juntaos y venid, gentes todas de alrededor, y congregaos: haz venir allí, oh Jehová, tus fuertes.

3:11 Assemble yourselves, and come, all you heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause your mighty ones to come down, O LORD.

3:12 Las gentes se despierten, y suban al valle de Josaphat: porque allí me sentaré para juzgar todas las gentes de alrededor.

3:12 Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.

3:13 Echad la hoz, porque la mies está ya madura. Venid, descended; porque el lagar está lleno, rebosan las lagaretas: porque mucha es la maldad de ellos.

3:13 Put all of you in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the wine-vats overflow; for their wickedness is great.

3:14 Muchos pueblos en el valle de la decisión: porque cercano está el día de Jehová en el valle de la decisión.

3:14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.

3:15 El sol y la luna se oscurecerán, y las estrellas retraerán su resplandor.

3:15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.

3:16 Y Jehová bramará desde Sión, y dará su voz desde Jerusalem, y temblarán los cielos y la tierra: mas Jehová será la esperanza de su pueblo, y la fortaleza de los hijos de Israel.

3:16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.

3:17 Y conoceréis que yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios, que habito en Sión, monte de mi santidad: y será Jerusalem santa, y extraños no pasarán más por ella.

3:17 So shall all of you know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.

3:18 Y será en aquel tiempo, que los montes destilarán mosto, y los collados fluirán leche, y por todos los arroyos de Judá correrán aguas: y saldrá una fuente de la casa de Jehová, y regará el valle de Sittim.

3:18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth out of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.

3:19 Egipto será destruído, y Edom será vuelto en asolado desierto, por la injuria hecha á los hijos de Judá: porque derramaron en su tierra la sangre inocente.

3:19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

3:20 Mas Judá para siempre será habitada, y Jerusalem en generación y generación.

3:20 But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.

3:21 Y limpiaré la sangre de los que no limpié; y Jehová morará en Sión.

3:21 For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwells in Zion.
